Primetime on the Big Game, Making of Super Bowl Ads w/ Rich Singer - BRT S04 EP04 (166) 1-22-2023                    What We Learned This Week One Sentence – What does the Client want to tell the customers, in 1 Sentence One Big Idea – One Main Idea, One Emotion, One Story, One Promise, One Call to Action (CTA) David Ogilvy is the Father of Modern Advertising, Ad Man from Madison Ave in NYC, Mad Men is based on his ad firm TV is Expensive. There is a tendency for clients to want to jam in too much into an ad. AD Agency starts working on Super Bowl ads in August of the previous year, it is a 6 month process.     Guest: Rich Singer  https://www.linkedin.com/in/richsinger/   Award-winning Creative Director/Copywriter with over a decade of experience. Brands include Nike, The NFL, ESPN, E*TRADE, Yahoo and GE. Portfolio: zackandrich.com     Notes: Seg. 1 The show madman is about an ad agency in New York City in the 1960s. It is based on the classic ad agency of Madison Avenue called Ogilvy and Mather. It was run by David Ogilvy. Ogilvy is considered the father of modern advertising. He talked about that ads needed One Big Idea. An idea that is unique, timeless and surprising. Ogilvie was a big believer in direct response advertising, bottom line when you sell products. He had many advertising tenants or Commandments. You can't bore people into reading your ad. Don't be cute, be clear. Clearly define the position of the ad, who it is for. Ad should be conversational, clear with no jargon, to not confuse customers. Use the language of the customer. Ad copy should have simple headlines, with short words, short sentences and short paragraphs. Michael Masterson of Agora Publishing took the one big idea and elaborated on it. He said all ad copy should be about One Idea. This makes the ad copy organized, easier to follow, and it flows better. One Idea with one emotion, telling one story, giving the customer one promise, and finally one action for the customer to take.   Clip from 12/2021 Hollywood / Marketing Show Hollywood, Storytelling & Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell Nostalgia in Hollywood Marketing MB on Sales and Storytelling, Mad Men TV Show Business Lessons from Westworld TV Show (on HBO). In the Mad Men (TV Show on AMC) episode from season 1 called ‘The Wheel', Don Draper compares a slide viewer to a carousel, and then a time machine. The slides are taking you back to a better time when everything was good. He talks of the power of nostalgia, and the emotions we carry for the past. The word nostalgia comes from two Greek words; nostos, meaning “to return home,” and algos, meaning “pain.” In modern times, defined as a feeling of pleasure, and also slight sadness when you think about things that happened in the past. When we yearn for the past, we want to re-capture the magic, the old emotion we once felt. Full Show: HERE   Seg 2 Rich Singer has a 20 year career in advertising, working for New York firms. He started in print ads, then radio, billboards, smaller TV ads and worked his way up to doing major TV ads and Super Bowl ads. When you first meet with a client to create an ad campaign what do you discuss? Try to determine what the client wants to say. Boil down the client message to one sentence. The ad needs to be clear. What the client wants to say, needs to be in one sentence. TV is expensive. There is a tendency for clients to want to jam in too much into an ad. They want to have multiple messages, when you need one message that can be laid out in one sentence. What is the objective of the ad? Is it a brand story, building the company brand. Is it an offer story, like a special sales package being run in all the stores. There are different levels to a sales funnel and your advertising has to match what level you believe your customers are on. Customers who are new to a brand, would need to see a different ad from a company that has a well established brand where customers already know what they're getting. The analogy Rich uses when talking with clients, is like a dog with a tennis ball. If you throw one tennis ball at a dog he catches that. If you throw two tennis balls at a dog he just stands there, because he doesn't know what to do. This is what customers feel like if you try to throw too many messages at them in one ad. After the initial meeting with the client the creative team has typically 2 weeks to create a concept. Then you will check in with the client to discuss the overview of the concept, see if it is to the client's liking. Then typically you have 2 more weeks to work it out more. Meeting number 2, creative team would show the client a first draft of a script. Rich is a copywriter and creative who works with his partner who is an art Director. They run a team of six people total, broken into three teams of 2, each also consisting of a copywriter and an art Director.   Seg 3 Super Bowl ads ship to Network about 2 weeks before the big game. The process to create the Super Bowl ads started months before. Networks will approve the ad script, with lawyers also working on that process. Networks have the right to reject an ad from an agency. The last thing you want, and it's rare, is to send an ad for the Super Bowl to a Network and they rejected it. Agencies start working on Super Bowl ads in August of the previous year, and it is about a 6 month process. A client is spending $7 million with the net work to buy a 30 second spot during the Super Bowl. After the initial meeting, the creative team spends 3 to 4 weeks writing the first draft of the spot. In September Rich and his team would present the script or Scripts, could be three to the client. In the presentation will be Rich, his partner, his boss, meeting with the client team which could be 3 to 4 people. Rich and his team has created six Super Bowl ads. Ads are initially filmed in November, or about 2 1/2 months before the Super Bowl. Sometimes, though an ad could be filmed as late as New Year's. Many people plus lawyers review Scripts and there are multiple revisions throughout the process. The final script is put together before filming. Lawyers and clients are looped in throughout the process and approving the script. Once you have approved Scripts you go out and you hire a Director and a production team to make the commercial. The Director would then be responsible to create a treatment and may be a storyboard for the commercial. The ad agency has a producer who works with the production company and Director to get the process going. There's also a line producer who is on site during a commercial shoot keeping the process moving. At an actual commercial shoot there might be a production team that could be upwards of 100 people plus actors and extras who are in the ad. The agency will send 6 to 10 people, as well as the client probably has 3 to 7 people also at the shoot.   Seg 4 After a commercial is filmed goes into post production. This involves editing the commercial, possible re-shoots, and post edits. This is also where computer graphics and digital effects are added to an ad as well as music and sound. Special effects and computer graphics are very advanced where you can change backgrounds within an ad. Amount of special FXs all depends on the budget of the commercial. Rich has been involved in commercials filmed at multiple NFL stadiums where there could be as many as 100 extras to sit in a crowd. Usually when you create a Super Bowl, the agency and client are in agreement on what they're trying to accomplish. The most likely goal is brand buzz. You know you have a successful Super Bowl ad when it's a crowd pleaser, people are entertained, and they are talking about it the next day. The goal of any great Super Bowl ad is to be memorable and entertaining. Again clients are spending a lot of money, $10 million for this process. $7 million with the NFL and Network to air the ad, and a $3 million production cost. You're hiring actors, production teams, possibly celebrities and athletes. There is a lot involved in a 30 second ad. Rich said the script needs to be extremely tight. I've always believed that writing good copy is one of the most profitable skills you can have as a marketer. And even if you don't want to write copy yourself, understanding the process that your team should go through to create great copy is super important. Recently I spoke at Nick Shackelford's Geek out in San Diego and I met Brandon Ham there. Brandon used to work for Agora Publishing, the multi-billion direct marketing behemoth that was built on great copy.  Whether you want to write better email subject lines, create more engaging video ads, craft display ads that drive conversions, or improve your landing page conversion rates, this approach can really help. Here's what we cover: Brandon's 3-step research process for powerful copy. How to spy on competitors and see what's working and what's not.  The biggest mistakes to avoid when watching competitors. How to “tell your story better”. You sell with your ears, not with your mouth and what that means for copy. How to speak your customer's language. Plus more!

Misconceptions about GDN are rampant in the eComm world. It's too hard. It's too expensive. The targeting isn't as good as Facebook. It doesn't work. Justin Brooke knows better. Justin is an ad veteran who knows just about every ad platform out there. He's partnered with and trained media buyers for Russell Brunson, Frank Kern, Dan Kennedy and more. He also worked for Agora Publishing. He KNOWS his stuff. And he believes GDN ads are better than Facebook? Why? You can still get $.40 and $.80 clicks. His landing page must-have elements. How quality is in the quantity when it comes to GDN headlines and copy. Testing 3 angles for every idea - toward pleasure, away from pain, and something controversial. Utilizing the overnight celebrity strategy with testimonial GDN ads. How deadlines and testimonials work together. How to work hand-in-hand with the algorithm for amazing results.

Today's Flash Back Friday comes from Episode 755, originally published in November 2016. Jason’s guest James Dale Davidson is the co-founder of Agora Publishing, the Founder of the National Taxpayer’s Union,  co-editor of Strategic Investment for the Sovereign Society and founder of Newsmax. He is the Author of the best selling books Blood in the Streets: Investment Profits in a World Gone Mad, The Sovereign Individual: Mastering the Transition to the Information Age, The Great Reckoning: Protecting Yourself in the Coming Depression and his new release, The Breaking Point: Profit from the Coming Money Cataclysm. Mr. Davidson foretells of an impending, marketplace disaster which will happen in this lifetime. He credits the Obamacare, Chinese ghost cities and fictitious capital. He shares this information because he believes it is important for people to understand what will happen so they can create a new life in a new environment. Key Takeaways: [1:50] James Dale Davidson believes the current business model and social contract which supported it is kaput in the Western Civilization. [6:27] Trump may have been voted in because of the life expectancy of middle-class white voters has dropped. [9:43] What’s next for the economy under a Trump presidency? [10:57] The Breaking Point looks at the symbiotic relationship between the drug companies and the food industry. [14:49] The US needs someone with business savvy to improve the quality of decisions made in politics. [18:30] Bernie Sanders reminds James Dale Davidson of Karl Marx. [20:32] When fictitious capital is created it goes to people with collateral. These people can borrow money for almost nothing. [27:56] Jason asks “Why not just kick the can down the road forever?” Mr. Davidson tells us why it’s not a good idea. [31:52] The Chinese have used more cement from 2011-2013 on ghost cities than the US spent on cement in the entire 20th century. [37:57] Most of the copper used by the Chinese came from Chile. [41:18] The probability of a very severe crack-up, the biggest in history, will be coming in our lifetime.      Mentioned in This Episode: www.JasonHartman.com/Properties The Breaking Point: Profit from the Coming Money Cataclysm Strategic Investment Newsletter

In this episode, Robert shares how to double the results of your marketing campaigns--quickly and easily with kick-butt content that blows your competitors out of the water. Check out these episode highlights: 01:50 - Robert's ideal client: “My ideal client has two characteristics. Number one, whenever they do is some kind of direct response, online or offline, it's directly measurable. And the second characteristic for me, I want clients for whom copy matters. Their business copies an important element of their business success.” 02:45 - Problem Robert helps solve: “The problem is they are getting a certain response rate, a number of orders, click sales, to their marketing, that limits their return on investment and they want to increase the response and the ROI. And I write copy that outperforms their current marketing." 03:33 - Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Robert: “The most common one is that I get a call and they say, 'We are selling something. Here's our landing page, here's our sales letter. We paid somebody else to write this and it doesn't work. What can you do?' That, in essence, is the number one pain they have.” 04:52 - Common mistakes that people make before they find Robert's solution: “Other than hiring staff or outside copywriter whose copy does not work, is they themselves do not understand the principles of direct response copywriting, whether online or offline. There are formulas, proven and tested, for writing copy that generates a response. And if you know those formulas, you can be successful. And then there are many other layers behind that, but they don't know, so many people today don't know the basics, the fundamentals, of persuasion in print or online. They don't have a clue.” 05:48 – Robert's Valuable Free Action (VFA): "Look at your landing pages, for example. Here's my top tip. Look at the headline and ask yourself these four questions about the headline, which is one of the most important areas of the sales letter or home page. Is it urgent? Is there a reason to act now instead of later? Is it unique? Or is it something I've heard a million times before? Is it useful? Does it offer a benefit, a reason for me to respond or buy the product? And is it ultra-specific because, as you know, specific sell and generalities, which so many people use, don't? Even though that may sound good." 06:44 - Robert's Valuable Free Resource (VFR): Check out Robert's Book: https://www.

Morgan Chase, EverBank, The Institute for Energy Research, Houston Rockets, Houston Astros, the American Junior Golf Association, Agora Financial, Agora Publishing, Stansberry Research, and TradeStops. He is the #1 bestselling author of FIFTY SHADES OF MARKETING. What do you think the future of freelancing and small business is under this economy? A college graduate they need to really be paying attention to this because the idea of having a job is it's really kind of an older generational idea. And so they should not be thinking, Okay, how do I get a corporate job? How do I get a job? Because those jobs are starting to disappear in the freelance job. It's all about value, or it's all about value creation and skills. Skills are today's currency in the workplace. So it's about building up your skill set so that you can then promote your skills and utilize your skills to help a company's bottom line. What are examples of these skills? Well, it can be anything it could be speaking, it could be the old school soft, soft skills. But I think the most important skills are the technology skills. And by technology skills, I mean, the ability to use a computer, a cell phone, a tablet, proficiently and efficiently, knowing how to use all the different applications and software and technologies within these technologies. You're also very into podcasting, so what drew you into podcasting? And do you have any tips to that novice podcastor? The point of podcasting is building up a listenership and making money. Helping grow your business or selling your product, that's really the point. There are three revenue drivers. The first revenue driver is advertising which is not the primary revenue driver. The second revenue driver, which is the most important revenue driver, is using the podcast as a lead generator or a loss leader. And then the third revenue drivers premium content. So that's like a paid subscription type of podcasts.

Recently I got to interview one of my all-time business mentors, Rich Schefren. I've been working through Rich's coaching program since 2006 and ironically we had this podcast interview fixed up for months. Then I ended up, by sheer fluke, going to Florida to work with him just the weekend before this podcast interview happened. In this one, we throw away the agenda, and I just let Rich tell his story and share his wisdom. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Nicola: Today I'm delighted to welcome a man who has made the biggest difference to not only my business life, but now the rest of my life, too, thanks to his groundbreaking transformation weekend I attended in Delray Beach, Florida. Rich Schefren has completely changed the way I think about everything. He is an author, entrepreneur, internationally known business consultant, who's helped thousands of people build the online business of their dreams, including many household names online. A lifelong entrepreneur himself, Rich built his first $7 million business by the age of 23, and he first retired by the age of 25. Bored only six months later, he got interested in hypnosis and decided to turn that interest into a business. Realizing his love was the startup stages of growth, Rich left the Hypnosis Center when it had grown to 13.5 million annually, and pursued his next passion, the Internet. Since then his Internet strategies have been taught to and used by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Agora Publishing, Motley Fool, thestreet.com, and Boardroom Publishing, not to mention Weiss Research Incorporated. Wanting to impact the world, he then founded his current business, Strategic Profits. His company's mission? To improve the lives of entrepreneurs worldwide by helping them to earn more while working less in their businesses. Welcome to the call, Rich. Rich: Thanks, Nicola. Nicola: You're very welcome. What I'd really like to do, Rich, is go right back to the beginning. Now, obviously I know your story inside out, but my listeners won't, so take us back and tell us how you became the entrepreneur you are today and then we'll go into your best tips for business, mind, money, and marketing. Rich: How far back do you want me to go? Nicola: Well, you know, tell me about your family, where you grew up, and was there any entrepreneurial influences in your life in the early days? Rich: Oh, yeah, sure. I think I was blessed by that. My dad was an entrepreneur, kind of a ruthless entrepreneur, so I got to see the extremes of business, I'd say. I didn't want to grow up that way, but it was definitely a lesson, and he wasn't around very much, but because he wasn't around very much, I was always eager to be around him whenever I had the opportunity, and so a lot of that time that opened up for me, to be able to spend time with him, was on the weekends to kind of tag along with him on a Saturday when he would go to work or go to meetings, and I would join him. Sometimes he would be meeting other business owners or doing deals, and I would just sit there and listen, and then on the way home he would describe like why he said what he said on the way there. He would kind of give me a perspective, and so it was always an educational experience for me. He treated me like an entrepreneur. I remember as a kid I used to wash his car for a dollar. I was like eight years old and one day he made the mistake of having me in the car when he took me to the car wash. When he took me to the car wash, I saw that he paid eight dollars for the car wash, and I was like, you know, a little bit offended that here he was paying the car wash eight dollars. I was only getting paid a dollar, and so I said, you know, "What gives here?" He's like, "Well, you know, that's what we agreed upon." I said, "Well, from now it's going to be eight dollars," and he said, "Well, if it's eight dollars, then I'm just going to take it to the car wash." He's like,

Thriving Launch

Online training courses are essential for entrepreneurs. All entrepreneurs want to provide the best products so that they can sell them effortlessly, but the problem is they don’t know how to start creating one or, they have started creating, and they're having a hard time finishing it because they want it to be perfect. In this talk with Bob Bly, one of the best in the field of copywriting and Internet marketers, Bob shares steps on how to create your product and the different modes of delivering them to your target audience. One of the ways is audio which provides a more natural and less polished product, this is what the audience likes better. Key Takeaways If all your messages are sales messages, people will be turned off. If you make a percentage of the messages pure content that provides useful information people will appreciate it more. They'll become more loyal, bigger fans and they'll buy more. Slightly over half of your emails should be pure content and the other half should be pure sales messages. There are four learning modes of online training courses; audio-listening, video-watching, reading, and experience. First, you decide if online training courses or other products should be audio or video. Different subjects demand different media. Different learning modes can be mixed throughout your online training courses, depending on what your customers prefer. You can't please everybody all the time, which is why you mix it up and make things in different media. It pays to have your content in multiple formats, for example, online training courses can be audio, video or an ebook You can put together any information product without writing a word. The finished audio product has a higher perceived value than a book, particularly when they’re online training courses. A preferred method of selling is to generate hot traffic and to send emails from my lists and my affiliates' lists to my landing pages. The Process of creating online training courses Define the topic or problem. It could be a problem that needs to be solved or a skill set you possess. Make an outline listing all the key points with either bullet points or a list of questions about how to create online training courses. Use several options for recording and producing the audio for your online training courses Another  method is using Facebook as a way to outline key information and figure out what should go into the product. This should be based on what people want to know. Put up your own little survey page where you ask for input and list topics. Publishing newsletters will make people talk to you and ask questions. Those questions tell you what they want to learn. Creating mp3 and the recording Be invited to some venue, such as an internet marketing conference or a trainee association meeting, to speak on your topic where it's a big event and they're recording it. Deliver live in front of groups, it has the energy of the live audience feedback. Work with a partner who can be either be  the interviewer or a fellow subject matter expert. and essentially to have the interview or conversation which is much more dynamic Packaging an audio Sell as a stand-alone product. Bundle it with your other products, it can be sold for a higher price since it has a higher perceived value. Not editing your audio/video may keep its spontaneity and help you finish the product in a much faster time. The audience likes things that are more natural and less polished. Books are the only medium where a higher professional level of production is demanded. Put a really good 2-minute excerpt of your online training courses, as an autoplay video on the landing page. Luis Congdon: Today, you're going to be meeting copywriter extraordinaire Bob Bly. He has published over 89 books all under well established publishing companies. He has written for over hundred different clients. He has given seminars all over for the US army. He's been on national TV multiple times. This guy is truly a legend. His brain is just packed full of so much knowledge and we're so excited to have him here to give us some lessons about how to create a product. All right! We're here with Bob Bly. It's so great to have you on the show. Are you ready to launch Bob? Bob Bly: I'm very happy to be here and I am ready. Luis Congdon: It's really awesome to have you here. I've read some of your copywriting books. There was one that's like a handbook of online training courses for copywriters. I have been following your stuff on Facebook and what's really interesting is that we've had Ben Settle on the show who is one of my friends. I love his stuff. As I've been following you, I noticed that you both have two different methods for using email.  I found that this was really cool because this kind of spurred this whole conversation that went from Facebook to the Warrior Forum. Tell me how you and your work with online training courses differs.Sell your reputation, not your online training course Bob Bly: I worked with a lot of the more mainstream internet marketers, such as Health Sciences Institute's, Newsmax, Agora Publishing, and Dr. Sears. What these guys found, is that if all your messages are sales messages people will be turned off. They will unsubscribe and your sales rate will actually go down. If you make a percentage of the messages pure content with useful information, they  will appreciate it more. They will become more loyal, bigger fans and they will buy more. I think slightly over half of your emails should be pure content and the other half should be pure sales messages. It has been a difficult choice, but based on  the economy and  a lot of personal experience and observation, by me and my clients that this is what works the best.   Luis Congdon: Booyah Ben! I hope you're listening because you just got beaten in the email game. Bob Bly: Nobody beats Ben in the email game. What I would say is maybe he misrepresents himself because he says, "Every message should sell". And yes, he does sell at the end of a lot of messages, but when reading them it's obvious that there's a lesson, some great content, and a story. They're really not pure sales messages. So I think, whether he admits it or not, he sort of follows this rule.Selling your product or online training courses First, you decide whether the product should be audio or video. Then think about the method you'll use to teach your online training courses. There's four different learning modes which are, audio-listening, video-watching, reading, and experiencing it. Different subjects demand different media. For example, if you're playing golf, you pretty much have to do a video. People have to see the swing. Like there is a guy out there named Bill Dewees who teaches people how to do voice overs. It's got to be done through audio. You need to hear him do it. For other topics to put in your online training courses, it's really your choice. The reason I mix it up is two-fold. first, you do have some customers for whom the audio method of learning is their preferred mode. They don't want to read a book or watch a video. Luis Congdon: What?! People don't want to read books? Bob Bly: Yeah! Can you imagine that? It's actually upsetting to me as a book addict. Luis Congdon: You know what we should try doing Bob, is we should try splintering a book and posting it on Facebook. Just do short versions of the book, like parts of it. Maybe people would read it that way. Kamala Chambers: It’s like one paragraph of your book at a time. And I think you have 85 books or something, Bob. That would take a long time. So when you're putting out content, are you talking about selling them on amazon? Are you selling audio products or online training courses on any membership sites? Where's your preferred place to sell your information?Using audio for your online training courses Bob Bly: Well I have published 89  paper bound books with major publishers in the industry. One reason I do audio is because some of my customers want that. It never fails. I'll send out an email advertising a new e-book and I'll get people asking, "Don't you have this on audio?" Or I'll send out an email advertising a product through audio and the person will say, "I don't want to listen to it. Do you have it in book?" You can't please everybody all the time which is why you mix up and make things in different media. - Bob Bly I know you guys are too young to remember Howard Shenson, who was very big in information and consulting in the 70s and 80s, but he made the statement, "People will pay over and over again for essentially the same content in different formats.” So that's why it pays to have your content in multiple formats. That's why I like audio. The other reason I recommend audios to other people, is that a lot of people approach me say they want to get into information marketing, but they either can't or don't want to write. They find it an exhausting mental chore to needs be avoided at all cost. And I say to them that they could put together any informational product without writing a word and of course ironically, an audio is much easier and quicker to do as well. I do have products on Amazon. I do have a membership site as well, but  really, my preferred method of selling online training courses is to generate hot traffic and send emails from my lists and my affiliates' lists to my landing pages. Some people prefer the Agora Publishing model. The model works the same way, by building a responsive house list, making deals with affiliates who have also done responsive house lists reaching to the same audience, and market your products by sending emails. This will drive the traffic to your product's landing pages. Kamala Chambers: Fantastic. So, how do you go about creating these products and online training courses? This is something that I teach also, so I'd love to hear your perspective. The big thing about it is really deciding what you're trying to sell to your audience. Through whatever it is that you're creating, what's the problem you're trying to solve or are you really aiming to support people through that process? So, I'd love to hear a little about your process when creating an audio products and online training courses. Creating audio products and online training courses Bob Bly: First, I define the topic or problem to be covered in the online training courses. Sometimes there is a problem that needs to be solved. Sometimes there is a skill set they want to master, but it's normally one of those two things. And so I open up a word file. In all caps I write the problem, trying to make it sound a little bit like a title. Don't really worry about it too much if the title isn't finished yet. Then I make an outline listing all the key points that I think  someone would want to know. Let's say I was doing online training courses about book publishing, one of my key points would be, "How to write a book proposal" and other one would be, "Where and how to find a literary agent.”  So, I make an outline that has these two key points. And then once you have that outline, you have several options for recording and producing the audio.  I could get into what those are if you wish, but I always start with an outline. You can either just use bullet points or have list of questions. Luis Congdon: You know, a method that I've really loved is using Facebook as a way to create the outline and to figure out what should go inside of the copywriting. The first digital product I ever made was about podcasting. I created a Facebook group, that was completely free, for podcasters teaching them all about podcasting. Everything related to podcasting was posted inside this group. The podcasting aficionados, the fans, and the people that do it every day, joined this group. They started asking questions and I started taking note of the questions that came up repeatedly. Sometimes, I would create polls or I would go in there and ask a question to see what kind of feedback I would get. Or if I didn't know an answer but I saw this question being asked a lot, I'd go and ask it. I would find out what the answer was from other experts and then later, once I had all the content and knew what everybody wanted because I'd been checking out this market for a while inside of Facebook, I had a program put together and my outline was pretty much pre-made for me by the people who needed the product itself. So this makes it very easy to sell it back to them and you can feel confident when you say, "This is what you guys have been asking for. So here it is." You can do the same for online training courses as well. Getting feedback is essential to improve the quality of your online training courses Bob Bly: That's a smart method that people will love. There's another method where you put up your own little survey page, but not using SurveyMonkey. It’s just a little landing page where you ask questions and list topics about how you can increase the quality of online training courses. Let's say, the topic was climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. The questions are: 1. Do you want to know what gear you need? 2. What's the best way to get to the mountain? 3. What kind of guides would you hire? You ask them to say, "This is important, can you drive? There is a lot of traffic there.” Then you can reward them by saying, “If you fill in the form and click submit, we'll give you a book  that will tell you more.” That's another way to do it, but I like what you suggested even better. I have a medium to a medium small list of 65,000 subscribers. So when I publish my newsletters, I get a lot of white mail. I get a lot of people replying to these emails. I find out from what they say, what they want to know. People ask me questions by phone also, but mainly by email. Those questions tell me what they want to know about and what will go into your online training courses.Surveys to understand the market to sell your online training courses Kamala Chambers: Well, surveys are so powerful and I just want to reiterate that we should never underestimate the power of a survey and understanding your market. You could put out audio products all day long, but if people don't want it if they're uninterested in it and they're not hot to buy it, then what's the point? I think it's just absolutely important and necessary to first survey your audience. Find out what they want in your online training courses or track your audience, just like you were saying Luis. Another thing to note, is that when I've created my first info product I was a coach and I'd find  myself repeating the questions to clients and getting the same answers over and over again. So I said, "Well, I'm just going to record this." Then, it was so much easier that I could just get passive income from online training courses, rather than having to be a one-on-one coach. Bob Bly: Well first, if you don't mind, I don't think we should talk about how to create online training courses, because the outline and the questions are the raw materials for it. But how do you actually create the mp3 file and the recording? Well, there are a couple of options for doing it.The two best methods to sell your online training courses One of the best ways is to be invited to some venue, to an internet marketing conference or a trainee association meeting, to speak on your topic where it's a big event that they're recording, you make a deal with them. Normally, they have you sign something that says they make all the money from the event and they keep the recording. I say to them, "You can do all that, but I also get a copy of the mp3 and I co-own the rights." A lot of my informational products are audio and video files that I've delivered in front of live groups. The advantage of that, is that it has the same energy and feedback of a live audience. So that's one method. My favorite method is to work with a partner who can be either just the interviewer or a fellow subject matter expert and essentially to have the interview or conversation. This is much more dynamic than just you sitting in a studio by yourself, reading the bullet points and questions and then answering then them. This is very monotone and won't keep the listener interested. Those are 2 of my favorite ways to sell them. Luis Congdon: Sounds like podcasting to me; in its early days. You know, one of the things that I see a lot of people do that is really powerful, is link to do a podcast. This is a subject that I'm passionate about. I'm very passionate about using podcasting to sell online training courses. I'm known as the podcast guy. I'm known for being Facebook organic and building a business on Facebook that is all organic. However, whenever I tackle these subjects, I'm kind of like a technician and I spend a lot of time with it and it's not what most people will do. And so the product that needed to be created  is  answering the question, "How to do these things?" And they're very specific. And people wouldn't really want to pay a lot of money for it or only a few people would end up buying it. And by so surveying the audience, I was able to find out more of the global stuff. I mean, that's really what you're getting out there. Right Bob? Bob Bly: Yeah. I'm not used to podcasting, although my younger son is a podcasting addict. So those are couple of the ways that we create online training courses. Market your online training courses - Define your demographic In terms of selling them, different people will use different mechanisms, but I will either take an audio and sell it as a stand-alone product or I’ll bundle it with other stuff I have. When you do something that's bundled in multimedia, you can charge a higher price as it has a higher perceived value. So those are the two ways I packaged an audio product. I still offer them both as a downloadable mp3 and in a CD format, which a lot of people do not do anymore. Kamala Chambers: The new thing is flash drive. You can just drop ship them a flash drive. Do you ever do that for your online training courses? Bob Bly: No. We either let them download the mp3s for the online training courses or we send them a CD album. My demographic is older and lot of them like to put a CD in the radio of the car and listen that way. The younger people will tend to want a digital form of the online training courses for one of their devices like a laptop or an iPad or they’ll download it to their iPod. Kamala Chambers: Yes. It's really important to know your demographic and how you deliver your products including online training courses. That's another reason to do a survey. That's one thing that I ask when I put out a new product. I always ask, "How do you want your information delivered to you?" I'm really surprised sometimes. Some audience, they just want videos, some want the flash drives, some want the audio, and then its blend for others. So I think it's important to appeal to your audience and mix it up too. Really great stuff! So I want to throw this in there. This could be really easy. The first time I put out a product I had a headset and I had whatever recording software came with my computer. I have a Mac so it was garage band style.  Just open it up and started recording. It can be as easy as you want it to be or you can make it complex. You just and your friend like Bob was talking about. Have your friend in the room with you and then have someone who's also an expert. You guys can banter about it and get stuff out that way. So Bob, anything else about creating online training courses before we get into selling it? Bob Bly: What I do when I'm doing it, with a friend who's really a pure colleague and also knowledgeable in the topic, we tend to sit at a table with a nice high quality digital recorder. Each of us has a nice high quality digital microphone. And we have a conversation about it. And one thing that shocks people, we don't edit it. It is pure raw, right off the first draft and it has the spontaneity that a lot of editing will take away from it. And also we can do it in much faster time. And just to give you an idea of the numbers, one of the early programs I did with my partner Fred Gleek, I think we were recorded it for maybe 5 hours. That was our complete labor in it, no editing. That time, there were no mp3s. We gave it to our fulfillment house to do CD's and we sold well over $120,000 in sales worth of those online training courses. So in an hourly rate, that's pretty good. Luis Congdon: You know, that's awesome and I can't believe you just told us that you don't edit your stuff. I mean, Bob, shouldn't everything be edited these days? We want to look perfect in front of everybody.Market your online training courses - Consider audience preferences Bob Bly: It's funny and I worked in the corporate world in the late 70s. We were taught if you're going to do a marketing video, it has to be as close to broadcast quality as possible, but today that's not true. People do videos on their smartphones with their webcams. In the current state of business, people have come to like things that are a little more raw, natural, and less polished. - Bob Bly It's very strange to me but that's the way it is. Luis Congdon: Yeah. I want to agree with you on that because it totally reminds me of when we launched a program and there was this big global thing that was happening with podcasting, and I was wearing a blazer a button up shirt. The way it was received was not as great as I wanted it to be. And the team that was producing this and helping us put this thing on came back and said, "Luis, I think you should wear either just a button up shirt or a Henley so it's just a shirt with 3 buttons and long sleeves And I did that and the reception was phenomenal. They really stressed, just bring them in your living room not in your office. Bob Bly: Now, I remember the first time I gave a talk recently without a suit and tie, I was in shock. I said, "How could I be doing this?" But that's how all the speakers dress. The formal is gone and the only medium where I think a higher professional level of production is demanded is ironically, books. Luis Congdon: Yeah that's true. I get angry anytime I see a letter that shouldn't be there. It's true though. If I'm reading a book, I'm like, "Why did this person misspell that word? Do they not know that "there" should be spelled that way? I'm going to write it up. I don't know if I trust this guy anymore." Bob Bly: That is the problem. In writing the standard is higher. I had someone called me up and complain about one of my books. Luis Congdon: They called you? Bob Bly: Yeah. They said on page 3 and 33, you misspelled whatever. I said, "Not for nothing but that book is a hundred thousand words long. You know what error rate that is to have one misspelled word out of a hundred thousand?" And I did the math for him but yet, when people see a typo, they have a very negative reaction. If you noticed, none of us wants a regular job on this callI. If you're looking for a job and you have one typo on your LinkedIn profile or your resume, that's it. Luis Congdon: Done. So now, if I go back to this book Bob, how you corrected or -- Bob Bly: No because it was not an eBook. It was a paperback book published by my regular publisher and there were 5,000 copies in the warehouse. Kamala Chambers: Of course. Bob Bly: So I wrote them a letter and said, "On the next printing, could you fix this?" Whether they actually will remember to do that is another story. Kamala Chambers: Well, before we wind up, any pro level tips you want to give to sell your audio products? Luis Congdon: Any last tips that people should know about the How to be a copywriter. Bob Bly: I have found that with video and audio, if you can find one or if you have one, putting a really good 2-minute excerpt as an autoplay video on the landing page really helps. Give them a little sample. And we do that with a lot of our audio and video files. Kamala Chambers: Awesome. Well, it's been so great to have you on the show. Luis Congdon: It’s our pleasure to have you on the show. Thank you so much for your time Bob. Bob Bly: I really enjoyed it. The REAL way to scale a business from $0 to $10 million dollars a year. On today's episode Russell talks about why you need to set realistic expectations for your first webinar and be willing to make changes to create a masterpiece. Here are some cool things to listen for in this episode: Why having a positive attitude when you do your first webinar is important and why the goal of your first webinar should not be to make a million dollars, but should be to just do the webinar. How Russell was able to increase sales 4x in 4 hours by looking at what he had done and making changes to make it better. And Why looking at your webinar as work of art, will help you perfect it and eventually be able to make more money. So listen below to find out how to set realistic expectations to be able to achieve your goals. ---Transcript--- Hey everybody! Good morning! It's raining here in Boise, Idaho, and I want to welcome you to episode 101 of Marketing In Your Car. All right everyone, so what do you guys think about the new theme song, huh? Huh? Do you like it? So yes, as I told you in the last episode that's what delayed me from recording any episodes for like a month. So all I did was I went to Audio Jungle, found a sweet audio track, then went to VoiceJockeys.com, paid someone $60 to say that and boom! I got a jingle! Anyway, it's not quite as professional as the last one, but it's also not quite as 1980s. So anyway, I'm in the office right now and I'm super excited for today, getting everything prepared for my live event that's happening next week. We have our two-day workshop for all of our DotComSecrets Ignite members, and for two days we'll be focusing on webinars, and webinar sales processes and scripting and traffic and everything tied to webinars, which is going to be awesome. And then, the second two days, we have our High-end Mastermind Group for our Inner Circle members. So it's going to be a ton of fun and I'm excited, and today while I was kind of getting ready and preparing for this, I was thinking about like what I should talk about on the podcast. There was one kind of theme that I've noticed in the last week or the last couple weeks that I want to address. In our coaching group we have a lot of people doing webinars now, because I think webinars are one of the easiest ways to get started, to have an offer that you can break even on traffic or make a profit, a bunch of other things. And the problem is that… Well, not the problem. The good part is we had — I think this week we had eight or nine of our students who did their very first webinars, which was awesome and it was fun to see. It was funny because some people finished the webinar with like… Anyway, every time they were finished, they would all Vox to me. Vox is like my communication channel with my coaching students. So we've got Vox on the phone. They can Vox me. It's kind of like a walkie-talkie, and they can Vox me any time they want throughout the day. And so, basically, they would Vox me after the webinar, and say, “Hey! This is what happened, and this what happened…” You know, they'd just kind of tell me, and about half of them had such a good attitude. They said: “Wow, Russell, I did the webinar! I learned the script and I practiced it. Nobody bought, but I did it. And people showed up and people loved it, I good feed back, and they were excited.” And they're like, “Man, I'm so excited! I'm going to make some tweaks and changes, and then do it again and just keep getting better and better at it, and start making some sales in the future,” and bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, and those guys are like, “yes!” That's the right attitude, you know, like the very first time you do your webinar, your goal is not to make a million dollars. Your goal is to do your first webinar, right? To practice the pitch, to get some feedback, to see what happens, to see how you feel in front of an audience, to see if people respond to the offer, all those types of things that you do the first time you're doing one — doing one live. Obviously, your goal is to make sales, but not to make a ton of sales. On the other side of it, we've got people who — and it's probably because I get excited. I'd share numbers that we do with our webinars and people that other of our students have done and things like that, and so they're expecting to make like a million dollars in one webinar on their very first one. And so, the other half wrote me back and messaged me and were just like all depressed, and “oh nobody bought, and only 20 percent of the people actually showed up.” It reminded me of like Eeyore the donkey like, “Oh, nothing's gonna work.” [Laughter] you know, like that kind of an attitude, and I literally had to go Vox everyone, and like get them excited and say: “Look, you have to understand like, you just opened a store. This is Day One, your very first time you ever pitched it. Like most people do not make money on their very first webinar pitch. Most people are going to practice it, and like it's such a good thing just to do it because you learn so much stuff.” You learn, you know, did the registration process work? Did the process to get them to attend the webinar work? Boom, boom, boom! You look through every single aspect, every single piece, because there's so many different variables, and from that you can really dial in and figure out what tweaks and changes you need to make, okay? I was telling one of the people, when we did the Funnel Hacks webinar the first time, we did the webinar and I got tons of feedback and things like that, and so the first time, I remember the first day we did it, we did it twice that first day. The first time I did it, we had a big show up, and we did $30,000, which may seem like a lot of money. For us it was based on the number of people who were on the webinar. It was really, really low, and I was like “ohh!” I just felt really bad, but I looked at the comments and the feedback, and I thought about like how I felt during each section. And I had my second webinar; it was like four hours later. During that four-hour period of time, I was tweaking slides and changing and just moving things as fast as I could because I knew the next webinar was coming. So then, I'd figure out all the questions that people were asking me, and I went and I tweaked those and added them into the presentation and move things around. Anyway, I tried to get as close as I could to what I thought was perfect, and the second one I did we did $120,000 with the same amount of people on it — so four times as much money just by taking tweaks and changes. And so, the big thing I wanted to kind of mention on this podcast, and I want you guys thinking about, is positioning your expectations right, and looking at this as kind of the fun process that it can and it should be. You know, for me again, I'm looking at we create this thing you're putting out there, and now my goal is not to — like I remember one of the guys, he told me, he said, “My goal is to make 20 sales at $2,000 apiece.” He wanted $40-grand off his first webinar, and I was saying, “Man, if you get one, that would be awesome; like that should be your goal.” You know, typically the products were selling on a webinar from $500 to $1,000, and so what I tell people I say, “Look, what you need to do is invest. For your first webinar and traffic invest — if it's $1,000 product, invest $1,000; if it's a $500, invest $500 — and you're goal should be to just break even. Make one sale and see if you can do that. If you can break even, make one sale, then boom! You've got it! Like that's the only thing you should be focusing on right now, is just breaking even on your ad spent from your first webinar. So that's the expectation, and then from that, now we get so much data. Like insane amounts of data come back to us as soon as you do your first webinar, where you make tweaks and changes, and just all this stuff that you can't do until you do your first one. Yeah, so I guess my big thing is setting expectations. You know, not trying to make a million dollars on Day One. Everyone that comes into our High-end Coaching Program, we always ask them what they're goals are. And the people who come back and say, “You know, my goals, if I can get to $15,000 to $20,000 a month, I'm going to be really excited,” those ones I like working with, because that's a realistic expectation for what they're doing. People who come in and say, “my goal is to make $3-million my first year,” it's not a realistic expectation, and all it can do is just stress you out. People are like, “Why? I need to set high goals!” Like, yeah, you do, but you also set a realistic goal. So say, you know, my goal is to be able to get point. Like for me when I got started, I was like I want to make a million dollars a year. That was my goal, but I didn't say it was this year; I said I want to make a million dollars a year. You know, for right now, if I can make $10,000 a month, that would change my life so that's what I'm running for. So having your — what do they call them in Good to Great? The BHAGS, the big, harry, audacious goals — like having some BHAGS, but not like tying those to time. Do you know what I mean? Like don't say, “I need this done this year: I'm going to make $3-million this year.” Just say my future goal is to make $3-million a year and a million dollars a year would be really, really cool. But right now, my goal I'm running towards is, you know, what is it? Is it $5,000 a month, $10,000, $20,000? In my last or two events ago, we did this little exercise with people, asking them like how much money do they want to make, and everyone was giving me these crazy numbers. And then I showed them how, if you were making $20,000 a month, that you literally could live in a $2-million dollar mansion, drive a $100,000 car, and go on vacation every single month on $20,000 a month. Like $20,000 a month is a ton of money, you guys, and it's realistic to live off of that, right? – to have an amazing lifestyle off it, and a million dollars a year is just not realistic. That's not something that's going to happen for most of us. So first off, setting your expectations right, from like an income standpoint, again you goal should be: “I'm going to spend X amount of dollars in advertising. I want to break even.” That should be the only focus when you first doing your webinar. That's it. Nothing else should matter. And the second thing is looking at this as the process. This is not like you built a… like I remember when one guy said, “Man, I've spent so much time on this, and I'm frustrated because I spent so much time and effort on this.” I was like, you don't understand. Like this is not a one-time shot. You're putting this time and effort in to create this thing. You're creating a masterpiece, and after it's done then you keep tweaking it. It's like the analogy of like you have a big stone, right? And you're chiseling away and chiseling away, and you've done a lot of work, and it's looking good, but you keep chiseling and keep chiseling. I've done the Funnel Hacks webinar, man, probably 20 times in the last two months. You know, we did over a million dollars in sales, and from that, every single time I do it, I've changed the presentation. In fact I made like, I don't know, probably 15 different slide changes yesterday, after the last presentation I gave because every time I'm feeling different things, and I'm tweaking it. I'm changing it based on response and based on questions I'm getting. And things that don't feel comfortable when I'm doing the presentation, I'm tweaking and changing and adding things, and every time it gets better and better and better, and so looking at this is a work of art. Mary Ellen Tribby, some of you guys may know her, I talked to her one time, and she was talking about how us Internet marketing people, how dumb most of us are, and she went into like two different companies. She went into Wise Publishing, and then also into Agora Publishing, and took the division she was responsible for from like three or four million dollars a year to like $80-million a year within 18 months. And what she told me that I thought was really, really cool is she said: “All you Internet marketing people are brilliant. You make the most amazing offers in the world. It's just, but what you do is like the equivalent of creating a play, right? “You hire the best actors and screen writers, and you put this whole thing together, and you spend, you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars, perfecting this play. “And then, you live in Boise, Idaho, and so you go and you advertise it. A bunch of people show up, and you do the play, and it's a smashing success, rave reviews, everyone loves it — and then the next day you pack up and you start writing your next script for your next play.” And she's like, “The difference between what you guys do and what I do is,” she says, “I take that play on the road. Okay, it was a smashing success, and I take it from Boise to Salt Lake to Chicago to L.A and I take it on the road.” And that's how you have to look at this whole thing as, is this webinar you're doing, like right now you're testing in your local area, right? This is how the process is working, and you're testing and you're tweaking. You're making these changes and then you take it on the road. Each time you get better and better and better, and that's how you have to look at it, okay? So anyway, that's kind of my goal of this presentation, this podcast, whatever you want to call it. Because it's been on my mind and it's kind of a rant, but it's because I think everyone needs to get their minds' right. You know, everyone talks about mindset and goals and I think they do it the wrong way. They're talking about, you know, “set huge goals and work towards…” And those things are good, but it's more paralyzing a lot of times than setting the realistic goals and good expectations and understanding what you should be doing and how this process works, that's really the key in the game plan. So anyway, I've been at the office in the parking lot. For like five minutes now I've been ranting, so I'm going to jump in and get to work, have a fun day today. You guys have a good one as well, and I'll talk to you guys all again soon.

I’m going to make some tweaks and changes, and then do it again and just keep getting better and better at it, and start making some sales in the future,” and bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, and those guys are like, “yes!” That’s the right attitude, you know, like the very first time you do your webinar, your goal is not to make a million dollars. Your goal is to do your first webinar, right? To practice the pitch, to get some feedback, to see what happens, to see how you feel in front of an audience, to see if people respond to the offer, all those types of things that you do the first time you’re doing one — doing one live. Obviously, your goal is to make sales, but not to make a ton of sales. On the other side of it, we’ve got people who — and it’s probably because I get excited. I’d share numbers that we do with our webinars and people that other of our students have done and things like that, and so they’re expecting to make like a million dollars in one webinar on their very first one. And so, the other half wrote me back and messaged me and were just like all depressed, and “oh nobody bought, and only 20 percent of the people actually showed up.” It reminded me of like Eeyore the donkey like, “Oh, nothing’s gonna work.” [Laughter] you know, like that kind of an attitude, and I literally had to go Vox everyone, and like get them excited and say: “Look, you have to understand like, you just opened a store. This is Day One, your very first time you ever pitched it. Like most people do not make money on their very first webinar pitch. Most people are going to practice it, and like it’s such a good thing just to do it because you learn so much stuff.” You learn, you know, did the registration process work? Did the process to get them to attend the webinar work? Boom, boom, boom! You look through every single aspect, every single piece, because there’s so many different variables, and from that you can really dial in and figure out what tweaks and changes you need to make, okay? So then, I’d figure out all the questions that people were asking me, and I went and I tweaked those and added them into the presentation and move things around. You know, for me again, I’m looking at we create this thing you’re putting out there, and now my goal is not to — like I remember one of the guys, he told me, he said, “My goal is to make 20 sales at $2,000 apiece.” He wanted $40-grand off his first webinar, and I was saying, “Man, if you get one, that would be awesome; like that should be your goal.” You know, typically the products were selling on a webinar from $500 to $1,000, and so what I tell people I say, “Look, what you need to do is invest. For your first webinar and traffic invest — if it’s $1,000 product, invest $1,000; if it’s a $500, invest $500 — and you’re goal should be to just break even. Make one sale and see if you can do that. If you can break even, make one sale, then boom! You’ve got it! Like that’s the only thing you should be focusing on right now, is just breaking even on your ad spent from your first webinar. So that’s the expectation, and then from that, now we get so much data. Like insane amounts of data come back to us as soon as you do your first webinar, where you make tweaks and changes, and just all this stuff that you can’t do until you do your first one. Yeah, so I guess my big thing is setting expectations. You know, not trying to make a million dollars on Day One. Everyone that comes into our High-end Coaching Program, we always ask them what they’re goals are. And the people who come back and say, “You know, my goals, if I can get to $15,000 to $20,000 a month, I’m going to be really excited,” those ones I like working with, because that’s a realistic expectation for what they’re doing. People who come in and say, “my goal is to make $3-million my first year,” it’s not a realistic expectation, and all it can do is just stress you out. People are like, “Why? I need to set high goals!” Like, yeah, you do, but you also set a realistic goal. So say, you know, my goal is to be able to get point. Like for me when I got started, I was like I want to make a million dollars a year. That was my goal, but I didn’t say it was this year; I said I want to make a million dollars a year. You know, for right now, if I can make $10,000 a month, that would change my life so that’s what I’m running for. So having your — what do they call them in Good to Great? The BHAGS, the big, harry, audacious goals — like having some BHAGS, but not like tying those to time. Do you know what I mean? Like don’t say, “I need this done this year: I’m going to make $3-million this year.” Just say my future goal is to make $3-million a year and a million dollars a year would be really, really cool. But right now, my goal I’m running towards is, you know, what is it? Is it $5,000 a month, $10,000, $20,000? In my last or two events ago, we did this little exercise with people, asking them like how much money do they want to make, and everyone was giving me these crazy numbers. And then I showed them how, if you were making $20,000 a month, that you literally could live in a $2-million dollar mansion, drive a $100,000 car, and go on vacation every single month on $20,000 a month. Like $20,000 a month is a ton of money, you guys, and it’s realistic to live off of that, right? – to have an amazing lifestyle off it, and a million dollars a year is just not realistic. That’s not something that’s going to happen for most of us. So first off, setting your expectations right, from like an income standpoint, again you goal should be: “I’m going to spend X amount of dollars in advertising. I want to break even.” That should be the only focus when you first doing your webinar. That’s it. Nothing else should matter. And the second thing is looking at this as the process. This is not like you built a… like I remember when one guy said, “Man, I’ve spent so much time on this, and I’m frustrated because I spent so much time and effort on this.” I was like, you don’t understand. Like this is not a one-time shot. You’re putting this time and effort in to create this thing. You’re creating a masterpiece, and after it’s done then you keep tweaking it. It’s like the analogy of like you have a big stone, right? And you’re chiseling away and chiseling away, and you’ve done a lot of work, and it’s looking good, but you keep chiseling and keep chiseling. I’ve done the Funnel Hacks webinar, man, probably 20 times in the last two months. You know, we did over a million dollars in sales, and from that, every single time I do it, I’ve changed the presentation. In fact I made like, I don’t know, probably 15 different slide changes yesterday, after the last presentation I gave because every time I’m feeling different things, and I’m tweaking it. I’m changing it based on response and based on questions I’m getting. And things that don’t feel comfortable when I’m doing the presentation, I’m tweaking and changing and adding things, and every time it gets better and better and better, and so looking at this is a work of art. It’s just, but what you do is like the equivalent of creating a play, right? “You hire the best actors and screen writers, and you put this whole thing together, and you spend, you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars, perfecting this play. “And then, you live in Boise, Idaho, and so you go and you advertise it. A bunch of people show up, and you do the play, and it’s a smashing success, rave reviews, everyone loves it — and then the next day you pack up and you start writing your next script for your next play.” And she’s like, “The difference between what you guys do and what I do is,” she says, “I take that play on the road. Okay, it was a smashing success, and I take it from Boise to Salt Lake to Chicago to L.A and I take it on the road.” And that’s how you have to look at this whole thing as, is this webinar you’re doing, like right now you’re testing in your local area, right? This is how the process is working, and you’re testing and you’re tweaking. You’re making these changes and then you take it on the road. Each time you get better and better and better, and that’s how you have to look at it, okay? So anyway, that’s kind of my goal of this presentation, this podcast, whatever you want to call it. Because it’s been on my mind and it’s kind of a rant, but it’s because I think everyone needs to get their minds’ right. You know, everyone talks about mindset and goals and I think they do it the wrong way. They’re talking about, you know, “set huge goals and work towards…” And those things are good, but it’s more paralyzing a lot of times than setting the realistic goals and good expectations and understanding what you should be doing and how this process works, that’s really the key in the game plan. So anyway, I’ve been at the office in the parking lot. For like five minutes now I’ve been ranting, so I’m going to jump in and get to work, have a fun day today. You guys have a good one as well, and I’ll talk to you guys all again soon.
