Dr. T and Truth Fairy welcome guest Gil Bar-Sela to the podcast to talk about his work as a psychedelic guide, facilitator, and trainer working with individuals, couples, and groups. Gil weaves modalities like generative somatics, compassionate listening, and archetypal work into the more ancient medicine ceremonies. Gil shares his personal journey with Dr. T and Truth Fairy and engages in thoughtful discussions about psychedelics and healing. Gil shares that when he moved to the United States after being raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, he had his first opportunity to deal with the trauma lodged in his body. That led him to ask questions about conflict, the root causes of conflict, trauma, and intergenerational trauma which put him on track to explore all those issues. He also began his own personal healing process around his queer identity. This experience and questioning led him to the studies and practices he engages in today.  Truth Fairy, Gil, and Dr. T talk about how self-awareness is what first leads to healing work. Having a sense of what we need can lead us to the right kind of work to be doing. Gil talks about the building blocks necessary to become a good guide which include ethics, pharmacology, and onboarding clients in a responsible way. The conversation highlights Gil's own strong sense of guidance and understanding of the different types of medicine available for healing individuals which also includes psychedelics.“You have the psychiatrist, you have the psychotherapist moving into the space that are very rooted in the Western psyche, but are also lacking usually in terms of connection to spirit, to more expansive practices, to ancient wisdom. And so I think, in particular, the role of the underground guide can be to merge the two worlds. Because we're not here and we're not there. We can be bridge builders. The training that I lead is very much focused on that.” - Gil Bar-Sela__About Gil Bar-Sela:Gil has trained teams and businesses to invoke a thriving work culture. He has inspired audiences of thousands by speaking at colleges across the country on topics such as the power of listening and gender equality. He has collaborated with the leadership team of Seattle's Restorative Justice Initiative, creating community-based, non-punitive solutions to conflict. He co-leads annual delegations to Palestine and Israel with The Compassionate Listening Project, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities to transform conflict and strengthen cultures of peace. He also coaches privately, and leads workshops and retreats globally.Gil is a Certified Trainer with the Heart Math Institute and a Certified Facilitator with The Compassionate Listening Project. He has also trained at Susan Scott's Fierce Conversations, Dominic Barter's Restorative Circles, Core Energetics, META (Mindful Experiential Therapy Approaches), Cortiva's 1,000-hour massage therapy program, and shamanism.Website: GilBarSela.com__Contact Punk Therapy:Patreon: Patreon.com/PunkTherapyWebsite: PunkTherapy.comEmail: info@punktherapy.com

In this episode, Kyle interviews Ted Riskin, LCSW: psychotherapist running group KAP sessions and certified in Core Energetics, Internal Family Systems, and Holotropic Breathwork, which he has taught in various forms for 26 years. He discusses group ketamine-assisted psychotherapy: how he runs sessions, why being welcomed and loved in a group seems to be a bigger factor than the psychedelic, how he came to combine IFS with ketamine or breathwork, and why exploring the parts work of IFS seems to work so well with non-ordinary states of consciousness. And he talks about two complications we often don't think about with Group KAP: the challenge of getting our different parts to all truly consent to an experience (and how do you get them to?), and how very safe spaces can inspire oversharing, and sadly, subsequent shame. He discusses knowing when to use a non-directive approach vs. intervening; how people often learn more about themselves as a sitter; using core energetics before experiences to move energy we're often afraid to work with; the importance of embracing anger (when necessary); memory reconsolidation and bringing exiles from the past into the present; the concept of double bookkeeping; and finding the magic in realizing that sometimes, just being there (“being a useless person” as he says) is all that's needed. In this conversation, Kimberly and Ishita wonder together about non-dualism, embodiment, culture, ancestral heritage, and more. They discuss Ishita's approach to non-dualism which holds both consciousness of energy while being connected to the body in the present moment. While many spiritual teachings dismiss the body, the body holds wisdom and energy, particularly through the nervous system. Ishita proposes that the nervous system is energy at its core, and we understand the energetic layers and boundaries of our nervous systems, energies, and others'. They also discuss spiritual teachings, cultural differences between India and the U.S., and varying cultural practices as evidence of universal principles.   Bio Ishita Sharma serves as a mentor, mirror and activator to those who wish to better our world. This week on Talk Recovery Radio This week on Talk Recovery radio we have 2 great guests, first half of the show Serge Prengel joins us to talk about his book "The Proactive Twelve Steps: A Mindful Program for Lasting Change". Second half of the show Asha A joins us who is a woman in recovery with over 7 years in recovery. You can catch it all on Talk Recovery's Facebook page at noon Thursday. "The Proactive Twelve Steps: A Mindful Program for Lasting Change" About the book: The Proactive Twelve Steps outline how you can take a proactive approach to life, gradually stepping up from feeling stuck and powerless to enjoying a balanced and happy life. They are a new take on the original Twelve Steps. They describe the steps as a mindful program instead of a mystical experience in which change somehow happens to you. This book reflects a deep understanding of behavior change, codependency, stress, and trauma. It presents a clear roadmap for self-compassion and mindful self-discovery. It provides specific step-by-step instructions and a broader context that helps readers make sense of the healing process. Buy the book here About Serge About Serge: Serge Prengel, LMHC, is a graduate of France's Sorbonne University and HEC Business School. He is certified in Focusing, in Core Energetics and in Somatic Experiencing. His work also draws from Systems-Centered theory. He is a co-founder of the Integrative Focusing Therapy training program. Serge Prengel's approach is experiential and integrative. He aims for deep insights that are action-oriented: "It takes a sense of comfort and safety to explore unresolved challenges, to get in touch with difficult feelings, and to find the motivation and inner strength that foster lasting change. "My goal is to create the kind of atmosphere that makes this possible. I am emotionally present with you. I use my creativity, and I appeal to your creativity. "This work is interactive: Both you and I are actively involved in the creative process of making change happen. "Even dealing with difficult situations can come to feel like a very satisfying process when it is done with emotional honesty and creativity." Serge's Website | Facebook Guest 2 Asha A Asha's Personal Story: Asha grew up with a single mom and a very dysfunctional extended family.  Her addiction started through experimentation but really took off when she was prescribed a stimulant from her pediatric doctor.  She developed an intravenous drug problem by the age of 19 and ended up homeless, wanted by police and on the run by age 21. She got clean at 24 and then again at 26 after a short relapse. Asha is now over 7 years clean and working as the program manager of the very treatment center she went through.

There is a lot of fear and misconceptions about impact play: mainly, that it’s all about pain and humiliation. In reality, impact play isn’t one-size fits all. The Wives tackle this issue, top and bottom, discussing some impact play basics and interviewing Kink Expert and professional dominatrix Kimi Inch.  First, does the idea of a little slap and tickle give you the chills? Well, start by mixing up this episode’s specialty cocktail, the Salted Caramel Coffee.  And because good impact play requires a warm up, the Wives get things started with some extra steamy Hot Tales: Kat finds out that a sexy shower experience with Mr. Ams leads to an idea for a genius invention (Shark Tank, here we come!) and Ams gushes over her special birthday surprise: a six-handed massage, followed up by an MFM threesome.  Next, the Wives discuss some impact play basics: safe words, safe zones and warm up. And, for those of you wondering whether Ams and Kat ever play together, you can hear all about the first time Kat got spanked...by Ams!  Finally, the Wives interview Kink Expert Kimi Inch. Kink expert Kimi Inch (aka Mistress Nina Payne) has been involved in the BDSM lifestyle as a professional Dominatrix since 2002. She was hired by New York’s top dungeons to develop training programs for their new employees. This eventually led her to bringing her kink knowledge to the mainstream by holding public workshops as a way to teach and empower curious individuals and couples on how to enhance their sex lives through kink and fantasy exploration.  Alongside her classes, Kimi is trained at the Institute of Core Energetics and holds somatic therapy sessions which are focused around intimacy, relationship help, and sexual healing.  With over 325,000 followers on her social media platforms - Kimi Inch has lectured at Princeton University, The Embodiment Conference, and The One World Tantra Festival. In addition to this, she has been featured in several media outlets like The Wall Street Journal, Cosmo magazine, and New York Post. Plus also has made numerous television appearances, having been featured on ABC’s 20/20, ABC’s Nightline, and The Oprah Winfrey Network’s Our America with Lisa Ling. A psychologist, a Core Energetics somatic psychotherapist, EMDR therapist, and a holotropic breathwork facilitator.WHAT IS HAVENING THERAPY?Havening Therapy is a new form of psychological therapy which is suitable for individuals suffering from stress, troubling memories, or problems with mood such as depression and anxiety. It was developed by Dr. Ronald Ruden, a dental surgeon from New York, with a background in hypnotherapy and coaching. He became interested in the work of Dr. Peter Levine a pioneer in body-centered trauma therapies, who developed the Somatic Experiencing (SE) technique. Dr. Ruben in recognising the effectiveness of SE set out to translate what the neuroscience could tell us about how such somatic techniques were able to produce such profoundly transformative changes for people, especially those with complex trauma. Then he created the Havening technique, a somewhat simpler version of SE.However, Havening (like Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Brainspotting) belongs to a new category of psychological therapies, known as ‘psycho-sensory therapy’, which all demonstrate how sensory input can change the brain, which is particularly helpful for those suffering from trauma-related conditions, as prior to their development, talk therapies had limited efficacy for such individuals. It should be noted that such somatic psychotherapy techniques have been around for over a century but have only entered the mainstream in this burgeoning age of neuroscience. In this episode, we continue our exploration of the application of the Brainspotting modality. Our guest, Cynthia Schwartzberg, discusses the history of Brainspotting and how she discovered it through her work in Core Energetics. Brainspotting is a modality discovered by Dr. David Grand. Please visit www.brainspotting.com to learn more. Here are the seven mantras from this episode: Mantra #1: There is something special about the eyes when it comes to brain-body connection and healing. (See below for more information about how the eyes are part of the central nervous system, developing from the neural tube in the human fetus in utero). Mantra #2: Relationships create the foundations of healing. Mantra #3: We can create our own reality (Brainspotting provides opportunities to separate the past from the present and future). Mantra #4: Brainspotting can assist with self-acceptance (a key element in creating our optimal reality). Mantra #5: Brainspotting can also assist us in discovering talents. Mantra #6: Uncertainty is key to allowing “ah-ha” moments to arise. Mantra #7: Everything is energy. Cynthia also provided listeners with a great “recipe” for creating your best reality (to great for the new year!). -Set an intention -Know its possible -Create awareness of obstacles (what might be in the way, including limiting beliefs) -Use methodologies such as Brainspotting to remove obstacles Love it! Notes about Mantra #1 I want to give credit here to Dr. Peggy Mason, Ph.D. I am taking her course at the University of Chicago called Understanding the Brain: The Neurobiology of Everyday Life. In one of the recent lessons, Dr. Mason explained how the neural tube creates the entire central nervous system from the spinal cord to the brain. At about three weeks of age of the fetus, the neural tube is in a vesicular stage when it is differentiating into the spinal cord, the hindbrain, the midbrain, and the forebrain. The forebrain then differentiates into two vesicles called the diencephalon and the telencephalon. The diencephalon becomes the thalamus and the hypothalamus. The telencephalon becomes the cerebral cortex, the core parts of the basal ganglia, the amygdala, and a few other structures. The diencephalon, which ends up inside telencephalon as the cerebral cortex grows, has an outpouching that becomes the optic nerve and the retina. Here I’m going to quote Dr. Mason: “Why is that amazing? Because what you have is an accessible piece of the central nervous system. This is the central nervous system, it comes from the diencephalon, it is continuous with the diencephalon. Here's the diencephalon, and here's the optic nerve, here's the retina. It's all contains within the same meninges. It's all surrounded by CSF. So it's one that means that when you look into somebody's eye you're looking into the central nervous system. You're not looking to the brain. But it's a window on the brain…” Cool. More about Cynthia Schwartzberg Cynthia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is a Senior Brainspotting therapist who has been in a Clinical Consultation Group with David Grand, Founder of Brainspotting, since its inception. She started the Southeast Brainspotting Institute. Cynthia has a practice in Atlanta, GA and is passionate about Brainspotting because of all the rapid transformation she witnesses in her clients. She is President of Cynthasis, helping people discover their inner connections and bridging connections. https://www.facebook.com/Cynthasis-423702771104813/ https://www.cynthasis.com/ Cynthia is also a contributor to Mind Current. Why it’s okay not to know the next step but being open to getting clarity and direction is the best way to move forward. The ‘Dark Side” is where the deepest work is done & The analogy of the DOG. What happens when you ignore the dark side? Why it's important to be curious and hold ourselves with empathy to embrace the shadow side. 30:00- How to Create an Energetic Shift: What can you do by yourself and for yourself in your own space Mobilizing your energy- grounding your energy (you can access his youtube video HERE)  Do the 2 Min sequence Ranil talks about doing for 2 weeks that will change your life Do things that help you connect to your feelings.- for example: Openly expressing how you feel when you look in the mirror Do something that connects you to something bigger- for example, looking at the sunset. Ask yourself 'What am I going to do to be more ME?' How you can restructure that with intervention We all have blind spots so it’s nice to work with people who are trained to hold the space to help you see all of you and work on yourself completely. Leadership is about who we are and our connection to our authentic self and our commitment to being in that place of truth” “Ultimately it doesn’t matter what we are doing. If we are in our truth, everyone knows it!” “The ‘Dark Side” is where the deepest work is done.” “When we suppress components of our personality, it doesn’t matter how good of a person you are or how positive you are, we all have that shadow side and that’s linked to that survival response… however, it is also held in our body, in our emotions, belief systems, and our energy field. When it is held there, it limits our flow and that limits ourselves and our expression in the world. So that’s where the deepest changes are and we should strive to be okay with working on that” “The challenge is for each of us to get back to what we’re meant to do that creates an alignment that will manifest creative tension that can fuel what I am going to do today to create a more conscious choice to create new outcomes” ‘There’s nothing better than sharing our own journey [and experiences] to help others understand’ Advice to his teenage self & to us: ‘Take a moment, take a nice deep long breath. think of your connection with God and know that you are enough in who you are. You don’t have to rise above and be the best at anything because what you think is the best has nothing to do with what really matters. The best is, who can you be inside yourself and learning how to discover that. All of these other measures are just the yearning for connection and acknowledgment.’

Practicing gratitude can truly be life changing.  This is a pretty bold statement to make, I know.  However, it's true.   Why?  Gratitude is a higher vibrational energy and can shift you from the lower vibration emotions such as shame, grief, and despair.   When you're practicing gratitude, you now only shift your personal energy, but you shift the energy of those around you as well.  In this episode, I talk about how to cultivate gratitude in your daily life, how to be thankful for all that surrounds you - even when you think you can't find something to be thankful for - and how to kick the negativity to the curb! As we survey the events taking place around the world, environmental, economical and political, it isn't uncommon to feel a sense of despair, hopelessness or fear. It's especially easy to overlook any of the good things that are going on in our world today with we're surrounded by so much turmoil and negativity.  It's easy to forget all of the infinite reasons we have to be grateful. I would like to say … this too shall pass. In this bonus episode, I talk about ways to practice gratitude daily, even in times of global or personal upheaval. How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Focus on practicing gratitude every day!  Find something, even just the smallest thing to be grateful for. If you do this everyday, you'll realize even the smallest miracles matter. Quotable Quote about Practicing Gratitude How to Connect Facebook | Website | Twitter | LinkedIn Who's Dana Zarcone? In this episode, its just me - Dana Zarcone - and I get raw,  real and emotional as I tell you some secrets. Things that I have never said publicly before but can no longer be left unsaid. And I hope that by sharing my story I can inspire some of you in some small way.  I do get graphic in this episode and my story may be disturbing to some so take that into consideration before you tune in! So today I'm going to start by saying a big, loud, resounding “ME TOO”!   It's unsettling and heartbreaking to see how many people are coming out of the woodwork claiming that Harvey Wienstein has sexually harassed them in one way or another.  As of the recording on this episode there are over 60 women who have stepped up.  This coming on the heels of other recent highly publicized cases such as accusations against Bill O'Reilly, Bill Cosby and Roger Ailes.   There are other well-known celebrities that have been accused as well that include Michael Jackson, Woody Allen, Brad Pitt, Mike Tyson and even Brittany Spears. Yes, folks. Men can be victims just as easily as women can be the perpetrators. Sexual harassment and sexual assault doesn't discriminate by age, race, gender, education or income level! According to a new ABC News / Washington Post Poll found that 54%, over half, of American women have experienced “unwanted and inappropriate sexual advances” at some point in their lives. 84% have reported being verbally harassed.  Over 70% have been sexually harassed at work and 23% of those cases were by someone who had the ability to influence their careers.  Sexual harassment happens whether you're on or off the job.  And, unfortunately, this was the case for me as I've had several experiences with sexual harassment. In this episode, I take the opportunity to talk about my experiences  - not to play the victim – but to raise awareness. I also talk about the initial – in the moment impact – of being harassed and the longer term effects of being a victim of sexual harassment.  I talk about how my experiences have impacted me my entire life. How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Stand up for yourself! Maintain healthy boundaries at all times and never, ever believe that it was your fault!  People who sexually harasses someone is not only sick but they are a criminal! She shares with us the pain she endured as she began to accept that her marriage was coming to an end.  Through out her process she realizes that her marriage became a big part of her identity. She identified more of 'being a wife' than being Kate herself.  She exposes her underbelly as she talks about this divorce leading to the image she had of herself being totally shattered. As a result of getting divorced she had to embark on a journey of self-exploration. She talks about discovering limiting beliefs that were holding her hostage, preventing her from realizing just how amazing she really is. She talks about the level of self-responsibility she had to assume - being full responsible for her beliefs, thoughts, feelings, actions and consequences she had to endure.  As her self-discovery process unfolded, she was able to fall in love with herself, embracing all of who she is without judgement, contempt, guilt or shame.  Kate shifts from having a fear of abandonment to falling in love with herself ... and life! How to Make a Big Shift in Your Life Look at your relationship honestly, even if it's painful. Then make decision from there. Get support if you need it. Know you don't have to go through it alone.
