Also, we examine Ofcom's role in regulating media and resource allocation, what a Labour government might entail for public service media, BBC Charter renewal and funding review and the big issues that are coming down the line for public service broadcasters. “I suspect what we'll see is the device manufacturers and the public service broadcasters effectively marking their own homework. ‘This is what we said we do. I celebrate a lot within others lives or my own, but not often do I make suffering a time to rejoice.1 Peter 4 is clear that for those who believe & are disciples of Jesus Christ, our difficult circumstances can be opportunities to rejoice for what is coming ahead; the reward of our faith. This is a prior recording from an interview with my friend who has since went on to be with the Lord. She is in her glorified self! I want to celebrate her amazing life and legacy, which was always in her living third. As servants of Jesus Christ, we place God first, others second and then we trust any of our tending to God. This was exactly how Catherine Johnson lived her life. What an honor to have known her on earth and I look forward to seeing her again soon (1 Thessalonians 4:13.)

Nach the King and I präsentiert Alfons Haider nun also ein Hitfeuerwerk der schwedischen Pop-Band ABBA.

It's familiar to hear athletes and artists talking about “being in the zone” during moments of peak performance — that feeling of total focus and attention that allows access to one's best and often a sense of greater awareness and capability. It's sometimes described as a feeling of somehow reaching beyond what we thought were our limits. What's remarkable in being “in the flow,” as it is also known, is a natural state of enhanced awareness, connection, and capacity that is always nearby, available to anyone as a source of new intelligence, creativity, and energy for all aspects of our lives and journey. We can also learn to better recognize the mental and energetic barriers that may be preventing a more frequent experience of true flow.In this conversation, Aviv Shahar is joined by three Portals friends — Dan Leahy, Catherine Johnson, and Leticia Nieto — who practice, facilitate, and increase awareness of the flow state in their personal and professional lives as educators, counselors, and therapists.Although difficult to explain or define in words, our flow friends explore ways to move closer to flow by warming up to the readiness of our bodies, minds, and ecology; by playing, role play or psychodrama; by stimulating our natural spontaneity. Their experience and perception of flow includes:- We can facilitate the release and liberation of whatever got arrested in historic or entrenched or limiting patterns through different approaches to creative work.- There were moments where the student's eyes lit up; it was like something showed up that wasn't in the model or the curriculum content. They were just present in some learning kind of way.- Play is what facilitates access; being stilted just makes it take longer. But flow is available all the time; it's not something we have to seek.- There is a novelty factor that emerges in the moment; we are experiencing an innovation, a new synaptic connection in the brain, part of the conductive release that occurs in the process.- The work is not to get rid of the problem or unnecessarily fully dismantle supremacy, but to lean into the rounder patterns of reclamation and resistance that have always been there.- In role playing we invite people to play a different script than the one they have in the moment in which they feel stilted, and flow is becoming more available. This conversation is part of the continuing Portals discovery into what is emerging on the frontiers of human experience in this time of profound change. Information about upcoming special events can be found on the Events page. Also visit and subscribe to our YouTube channel. TWEETABLE QUOTES“I think probably the most dramatic experience of that is that I know if I am paddling whitewater, you must find the path of least resistance and you must relax, even in the most frightening of moments. If you can relax, you can get through it, and that stays with me today.” (Catherine)“So I'm thinking about, for example, working with playback theater, which is one of the things that I do, when it's time to get ready for performance, different actors need different things. Some people need to go for a quiet walk, and some people need to meditate. Some people need to do vocal exercises. Different people may need different things, but they know what they need to be able to get up on a stage.” (Leticia)“Like for me, the words are a parallel process. I find myself really curious about how what's going on externally is also going on in my body, in my heart and soul. Is there some way we can see the complementarity or the intertwine, the weave in the moment? And then what's that like for us? I sort of ponder that. What shows up? What am I curious about? What might that open doors to, other reflections or other things we might play with? So that's what I have in terms of a response to the question.” (Dan)“We're throwing words like noodles on the wall and making meaning of something that's hard to language, but it can certainly be put the way you put it. I tend to think about flow as the ultimate fundamental truth. Flow, the pulse, the movement, the unified field of oneness is always there whether we are aware of it or not, and so when we surrender into it or tap into it or rest in it, then it allows us, or we have the possibility for being filled with that, or having that move through us in a way that is more tasty.” (Leticia)“I think of flow as being sacred, and who am I to try and speak for flow? So I'm wrestling with that. What does come to mind is the metaphor that's most working for me these last few years, which is the transition from caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly, particularly when the caterpillar is in the cocoon and is melting down, literally, and that in that process imaginal cells begin to emerge, which have the information of what's called for next. And at the process is one of the imaginal cells clumping. So I'm imaging that flow is saying, ‘clump, dammit.'” (Dan)RESOURCES MENTIONED Portals of Perception WebsiteAviv's LinkedIn Aviv's TwitterAviv's WebsiteDancing in the FlowPortals YouTube

Mamma Mia! Here we go again! I'm so sorry - how can I resist this? But if you need a dose of Abba and to meet one of the kindest, most talented and humble women with her own Hollywood story then this is the conversation for you. Catherine discovered her love of writing when she was six years old. She wrote all the time, but little did she know that when she was working behind the counter in her local record shop, something she wrote then would help pave the way to her writing one of the biggest musicals and films of all time. Catherine won a competition and started writing plays before moving on to television, but it was when she met the producer Judy Craymer over a cup of tea, everything changed. Mamma Mia! the musical has been seen by over 65 million people all over the world. On its the release the film made history as the highest grossing movie of all time at the UK and Irish box office. What's even more special is the musical and the film were created by 3 women who formed a special and fabulous friendship. Catherine's work has received an Olivier award, a Tony award, a Golden Globe nomination, a Bafta, a National Film Award…among many, many others. But here is what's so special about Catherine, she is one of the most down-to-earth loveliest people, you could ever wish to meet. Catherine tells us what really happened when she met Bjorn and Benny, she talks about the moment she found out Meryl Streep was going to star in the film, and how friendships have seen her through all her Next Chapters. MAMMA MIA COMPOSER: Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus LYRICIST: Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus BOOK: Catherine Johnson DIRECTOR: Phyllida Lloyd CHOREOGRAPHER: Anthony Van Laast PRINCIPLE CAST: Judy Kaye (Rosie), Karen Mason (Tanya), Louise Pitre (Donna) OPENING DATE: Oct 18, 2001 CLOSING DATE: Sep 12, 2015 PERFORMANCES: 5,758 SYNOPSIS: Sophie is about to be married and wants her father at the wedding except she doesn't know who that might be. Limiting it to three men that her mother knew intimately, she invites them all to her wedding to see if she can figure out which one is her real dad.  Using the hits of Swedish pop group ABBA to tell a fictional story, Mamma Mia! was heralded as Broadway's first mega-hit jukebox musical. After the rocky reception of their first Broadway endeavor, Chess, band members Benny Andersson and Björn Alvaeus gave complete freedom to book writer Catherine Johnson, believing the plot of the musical was the key to its success, not the music. Upon opening, though the show was mocked by critics and ultimately overlooked by awards shows, the musical was a major commercial success. Malcolm Womack explores how its financial successes encouraged producers to mine the discographies of successful artists to guarantee Broadway hits with such musicals as All Shook Up, Lennon, Come Fly Away, and Movin' Out.  Malcolm Womack is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the Penn State School of Theatre. He has been published in the academic journals Film & Theatre and the Journal of Popular Culture, and has contributed several entries to the African American National Biography. Malcolm has written about Mamma Mia! previously twice, providing an article for the journal Studies in Musical Theatre and a chapter for the edited collection Mamma Mia! The Movie: Exploring a Cultural Phenomenon. He received his doctorate from the University of Washington with a dissertation on Harlem's Cotton Club. Former poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy and Mercury-nominated songwriter Kathryn Williams have released new album 'Midnight Chorus'. We ask them about their collaboration and how they avoided the clichés of Christmas. With added pressure from Covid and fewer staff because of Brexit, the demand for care workers has risen. In October this year there were 130,000 vacant care worker posts in England, leaving many people without the care they need. Last week, government advisors said that care worker jobs should be placed on the shortage occupation list, which would make it easier for employers to hire and sponsor migrant workers in these roles. What would this mean for the care sector? Emma speaks to Karolina Gerlich, executive director of The Care Workers Charity and Louise Arnold, Managing Director of Peninsula care homes. There has been widespread concern for the safety of Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai since she posted sexual assault allegations against a former top political figure a few weeks ago. She disappeared and then returned saying she was safe and well. Now the tennis player has denied saying she was sexually assaulted. What are we to make of this? Emma speaks to Kerry Allen, China Media analyst for BBC Monitoring. The Christmas Radio Times is out and we now know what TV we can look forward to watching over the festive period. But can TV divide a household rather than unite it? Are women the gatekeepers of family TV? Or do men rule the remote? Professor of Media and Communications, Catherine Johnson, has looked at the impact lockdown has had on our family TV watching styles, and journalist Emma Beddington tells us what she'll be tuning into in her house. We talk to Tessa Bamford from Spencer Stuart the organisation that conducted the research and also to Ann Cairns Executive Vice Chair of Mastercard who is also the lead non-executive board member of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). On Tuesday we talked about pregnant women getting jabbed, getting the booster and fears that some women have about how it will affect their fertility. All pregnant women have been able to get COVID-19 vaccines since April, when the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised they should be offered two vaccine doses at the same time as the rest of us based on their age and clinical risk group. Despite this, the government has come under fire for months for not encouraging enough pregnant women to get vaccinated, with many women concerned about what they see as mixed messages coming at them. So what needs to be done to get more pregnant women vaccinated and get the booster? Professor Lucy Chappell is the Chief Scientific Officer for the Department of Health and Social Care. The Christmas Radio Times is out and we now know what TV we can look forward to watching over the festive period. But can TV divide a household rather than unite it? Are women the gatekeepers of family TV? Or, do men rule the remote? This means understanding the emotions and creating an environment where your pet’s positive emotions, SEEKING and PLAY get activated as much as possible and the negative ones, FEAR, RAGE and GRIEF, don’t get activated any more than necessary. Through this guideline, your dogs and cats will be much happier and you’ll see fewer behavior problems. In this episode, I’ll tell you about the first positive emotion, SEEKING – how you experience it, and then offer some tips to activate it in your dog. Perhaps there is one thing that all photographers agree on: we love to photograph our pets. From amateur to professional, a simple photo of our dog, cat, or guinea pig making “that face” is almost irresistible and, based on the current exhibit at The Museum of the Dog, this fascination with photographing our pets reaches into the past for as long as the medium has existed. On this week’s episode of the B&H Photography Podcast, we welcome author and vernacular photography collector Catherine Johnson and Alan Fausel, Executive Director and CEO of the Museum of the Dog, to discuss the current exhibit on display at this museum. Johnson began collecting archival photos of dogs as a young girl, mostly from local flea markets, but over the years has amassed a unique collection of images—snapshots, posed portraits, cabinet cards, tintypes—dating back to the 1880s. This collection was made into the 2007 book, Dogs, and is now a wonderful exhibition at the Museum of the Dog, during the inaugural year in their new home, in Midtown Manhattan. With Johnson, we discuss the origin of her collection, the distinction between vernacular and amateur photography, and what makes for a good dog photo. We also touch upon her time working for photographer Norman Parkinson and her other photography work. Mr. Fausel, who has thirty years of art-world experience as a scholar, curator, appraiser, and regular guest on the Antiques Roadshow, now heads the Museum of the Dog, which is affiliated with the American Kennel Club. With Fausel, we speak about curating this exhibit, the challenges and joys of running a multi-faceted institution with such a specific theme, and how to balance the interests of dog lovers of varying stripes. We also discuss the growing interest in vernacular photography in the art world and its hard-to-be-determined appraisal value. Join us for this interesting episode and check out “Photos: Please do not Bend, the Catherine Johnson Collection” on display through December 29, 2019, at the Museum of the Dog. One of the biggest issues we have in healthcare is the lack of knowledge around the biomarkers as people age. How can we solve this by taking a more integrative approach? Will we ever get to the mass consciousness that testosterone is good? What is wrong with the over-protocolization of healthcare? On this episode, I’m joined by Director and founder of Precision Medical Care, Dr. Catherine Johnson to talk about how to help people get back to balanced health and the practical steps it will take us to get there. If you over-protocalize and you don’t take a precision approach, you will lose validity to care and you will see errors. -Dr. Catherine Johnson   Three Takeaways Longitudinal data point for biomarkers: if we know where someone’s biomarkers were in the past and there’s a drastic change, we can find the root cause quicker and solve the root issue. Because we’ve lost balance when it comes to health, people’s opinions have become split and that’s a major reason for the demonization of hormones. You will save money when you go to the right doctor because they will start low go slow and see what you need. The wrong doctor will mess you around as they try to figure out what you need. At the start of the show, Dr. Catherine shared how she got started and why she made the change from emergency medicine to precision medicine. She talked about how chronic disease manifests when people aren’t taking care of themselves. We talked about how the Baby Boomers have been so influenced by popular media, and how that impacts their health negatively. We then talked about the importance of teaching young people about their biomarkers. Dr. Catherine also talked about her her Precision Testosterone Optimized Therapy.     We also discussed; The biggest issue we face in optimization Why and how the sick care system is lashing out   The risk of going too high, too fast with hormone optimization therapy To help our society heal and get better, we have to take a very integrated approach and it starts with teaching young people about the biomarkers for good health. That includes tracking things like skeletal muscle mass, blood pressure, testosterone and other hormones, lipid profile, vitamins and other vital details. We must define what the biomarkers are for an optimal health span at every age so that we end up with longitudinal data points. That way we can find the stressor, and remove the contributing factors before it’s too late.
