Read transcriptAt some point in the early 2000s, someone looked at the Dragon Ball Z manga and anime, a story full of screaming men who power up for entire episodes, hair that defies physics, and villains who monologue long enough for the protagonist to reach a new power level, and said, “Yes. This. But make it a fighting game. On two, and only two, consoles.” And thus, Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 arrived on PS2 and GameCube, ready to let you spend an unreasonable amount of time unlocking characters and pretending you know what a Fusion Dance is supposed to look like in real life. This episode, we're going Super Saiyan on the whole thing. The game, the manga, the anime, the drama, the capsules, the questionable story mode decisions. All of it. And joining us to power up the conversation is Russell Moran from Kaiju ComiCast, who brings exactly the kind of kaiju-sized enthusiasm this franchise demands. So take a deep breath, squeeze out every last drop of ki you've got, and let's get into it. Your hair may or may not turn gold by the end. No promises. Learn such things as: What's worse than taking a risk and totally failing? What's keeping us from getting the epic Toriyama Universe fighting crossover event that we all want to badly? Can you really say that the roster has 50 different characters when 10 of them are different versions of the same dude? And so much more! You can find Russell on BlueSky @kaijucomiccast, Instagram @kaijucomiccast, and of course at his podcast Kaiju ComiCast. Almost exactly one year after Season 6's Expo 2025 deep dive with Sachiko Yoshimura, the Krewe closes the loop with two people who were actually there. Lea Disimone & Bridget McCarthy served as Youth Ambassadors at the US Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka, and they share what the program was really like from the inside, from a day in the life to the lasting impact it left on them. Two New Orleans connections, one world's fair, and a conversation worth the wait. ------ About the Krewe ------ The Krewe of Japan Podcast is a weekly episodic podcast sponsored by the Japan Society of New Orleans. Episode Notes The Reckoning: We see Kai Wynn and get angry. Imagine digging a hole and finding your name on the welcome mat. Justen interrupts with some BattleTech news. The Prophets brain-woosh Sisko and tell him about The Reckoning. "I'm an engineer, not a linguist." We have thoughts about the proper handling of ancient artifacts. Pre-doom happy hour? Bashir jinxes it. Will of the prophets, shrug emoji? There is no Kira, only ZUUL. "Just zap her with some chronitons." Wait, is this a Dragonball Z episode? Kira talk-slaps Kai Wynn. We're slapped around the head by the metaphor. The Valiant: SO many red flags in this episode. The Shenandoah, RIP. The Defiant-class to the rescue! Staffed by Red-squad cadets. Obviously what you give teenagers as a punishment for treason is a WARSHIP. The Teens can't shift out of 2nd gear. Space is flat. Nog gets a brevet promotion. Justen gets angry about operational mandate. Main Character Syndrome. Big Damn Hero, subverted. Nog gains command and finally makes the good decision of "let's get out of here". The transfer from "undying loyalty" to "dying for you" is where cults come in. BabSpace9 is a production of the Okay, So network. Took a bit but we finally sat down and took a look at the second DBZ Budokai game. A game that somehow takes what they learned from 1 throws it out of the window to try some new mechanics. Come hear how this second entry holds up and see why it wasn't included in the HD version we got years later. Starring Mike Albertin, Robbie Sherman, Kyle K, and Blake.

It's Friday and the Big Shot Bob crew is back with Episode 131 of Shoot Around — the weekly bonus show where Robert Horry, Rob Jenners, and B-Dog Brandon Harper dig into the questions YOU send in and whatever's on their minds. This week kicks off with a debate born from the new Michael Jackson biopic hitting theaters: Start, Bench, Cut — MJ era edition. The Thriller era (1982–85), the Bad era (1987–89), and the Dangerous era (1991–94) are all on the table. Which era do you start? Which do you bench? Which do you cut? The guys break down their picks, argue over the greatest MJ music videos of all time (Smooth Criminal vs. Remember the Time), debate whether Chris Tucker was actually IN Smooth Criminal (he wasn't), and Harper goes deep on the Ghost mini-movie that almost nobody's seen. The verdict? Unanimous love for Thriller, but serious disagreement on whether Bad or Dangerous gets the bench. Then the guys jump into the all-time greatest NBA coaches debate, sparked by Pat Riley making it clear at 81 years old that he has zero plans to retire or step aside. Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich, Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkins, Red Auerbach — who makes the cut? Robert Horry gives a unique firsthand perspective on Phil Jackson, including the detail that Phil literally never spoke to him during their championship runs together. There's also the Del Harris comparison — same roster, completely different results — and what that says about coaching being as much about managing personalities as drawing up plays. A Reddit user's anti-tanking beer pricing proposal gets a quick airing, and then the crew weighs in on Diego Pavia going undrafted after representing himself at the NFL Draft — no agent, no deal. Robert Horry reflects on firing his own agent in 2001 and what he missed out on off the court despite winning six championships, and the guys debate whether being your own representative ever actually works when you're already fighting an uphill battle. To close things out, a fan question about the best superhero shows ever made opens up a great conversation about Invincible (currently must-watch TV), The Boys, Smallville, The Flash, Dragon Ball Z, the upcoming Mortal Kombat film, and a He-Man movie trip that Robert Horry is already planning with his son. Plus — the case for a live-action Thundercats reboot that the world is clearly not ready for.

Send us Fan MailA mic check turns into a full-on culture sprint, the kind where one random comment leads to five different debates and somehow it all still makes sense. We kick things off with the loose “friends at the table” energy, then quickly hit the stuff people actually talk about during the week: the Friday food truck routine, little luxuries, and the jokes that show how comfortable our chemistry is.Then the mood shifts. We react to a disturbing arrest making the rounds online and unpack the questions listeners ask whenever true crime headlines collide with social media. Why do cases take so long? What does “allegedly” really protect? How do people judge the families involved when they do not see the whole story? From there, we get into relationship judgment and the way dating outside your race can trigger stereotypes, double standards, and unsolicited opinions. The second half turns into a pop culture playground: martial arts movie nostalgia, anime versus cartoons (Dragon Ball Z, Speed Racer, Voltron, The Boondocks), and the uneasy reality of AI deepfakes that can rewrite a moment with a few clicks. We even connect it to film history through Pulp Fiction, including the iconic Ezekiel 25:17 monologue and why it still pops up in modern headlines. We wrap with music video memories, Michael Jackson legacy talk, and the big question of whether digital releases helped or hurt artistry.Subscribe for more, share this with a friend who loves movies and debates, and leave a review telling us which topic you want us to go deeper on next. Thanks for listening to the Nobody's Talking Podcast. Spring is in the air and so are evil cybernetic lifeforms. Today's Dragon Ball double feature begins with the movie Super Android 13 from the Z era. This alternate take on the anime timeline features Dr. Gero's supercomputer creating three new androids to take revenge on Goku and his friends. Android 13 proves to be the most dangerous member of the trio, absorbing parts from his fellow androids to attain a near-invincible new form. Then, as we continue Dragon Ball GT, Dr. Gero's schemes evolve yet again as he teams up with the recently deceased Dr. Myuu. Together, they create a heartless doppelgänger of Android 17. Syncing their energies across realms, the two androids manage to pierce the veil between Earth and Hell. Old enemies are revived, challenges are issued, and haircuts are mocked on today's death-defying episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake! Sam's career has been a masterclass in following curiosity with full commitment. He founded Youth Worldwide to mentor underrepresented emerging talent and champion design education at a time when it was being defunded from schools. Now at the forefront of AI experience design, Sam reflects on what it means to make things that not only look good but genuinely change lives.Takeaways:Creativity is a give-and-take system — inspiration received must become inspiration returnedThe entry point defines who gets in; lowering barriers is itself a form of creative leadershipSpeaking multiple creative languages — design, strategy, business — builds longevity and lasting influenceGoing to McKinsey wasn't selling out; it was learning to communicate value and impact at the highest levelYouth Worldwide was built to mentor underrepresented talent and make design education feel possibleAI doesn't replace creativity — it eliminates the gap between thinking and makingThe most powerful shift AI offers creatives is the freedom to think bigger, not just work fasterBeing at the forefront of change requires constant adaptation and the courage to occupy unfamiliar roomsYour power lies not in fitting in, but in standing out purposefully and communicating value on your own termsOne poster influences thousands; one great AI experience has the potential to shape billions Daring Creativity. This week on Wow, Nice Segue, the guys kick things off with a bold Sip or Skip reviewing the dangerously confident Monster “The Beast” Unleashed from Monster Energy — because nothing says good decision like carbonated chaos in a can. That spirals into a deep dive on questionable vending machine foods and the kind of snacks that look like they expired during the Obama administration.Things get dark when chatting about Seattle Seahawks dominating Super Bowl 60. The nostalgia keeps rolling as the crew debates their favorite Super Bowl commercials, before powering up into a passionate conversation about Dragon Ball Z and the life lessons learned from yelling for five straight episodes.Naturally, the episode includes a mini panic attack story involving a clogged toilet, because humility builds character. They wrap it all up with a rapid-fire ranking of the worst things you can hear from your doctor that are NOT fatal — uncomfortable, mildly alarming, but technically survivable. It's minty, messy, mildly traumatic, and somehow still sports related.
