There are normal radio shows... and then there's whatever happened today. This daily comedy episode kicks off with a passionate (and surprisingly heated) debate over the greatest American bands of all time. Aerosmith? Metallica? The Beach Boys? Pearl Jam? Eagles? Somebody is wrong, somebody gets roasted, and nobody leaves happy. Then Kenny Chesney somehow steals the spotlight before he even performs. Between Shirt Nation jokes, concert cancellations, and rumors surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's possible wedding, the crew has plenty to say—and almost none of it is nice.Kate Beckinsale reminds everyone that grief doesn't always look the same after revealing that coping with personal tragedy involved prank calls and mooning people from a hotel window. Naturally, the gang spends far too long discussing whether society unfairly abandoned the fine art of mooning sometime after Y2K.Speaking of questionable history... conspiracy theorists are convinced someone attended Elvis Presley's final concert with an iPhone decades before smartphones existed. Is it proof of time travel? An old camera? A vape? The Rizz Show investigates with the scientific rigor you'd expect from people arguing about Don Henley's FBI search history five minutes earlier. The celebrity gossip keeps rolling with Noah Kahan begging concertgoers to stop leaving surprises on venue floors, Alan Jackson's emotional farewell concert, Bill Maher's Mark Twain Prize, Mel Brooks turning 100, and a surprisingly heartfelt conversation about legendary supergroups that disappeared way too soon.Somewhere in the middle, Riz announces a concert he'll absolutely attend, the crew argues over Taylor Swift's rumored wedding location, Kenny Chesney gets called out for canceling shows, and everyone discovers there are apparently multiple ways to accidentally become internet-famous.It's another chaotic ride packed with celebrity news, weird news, music debates, conspiracy theories, sarcastic humor, and the completely unnecessary confidence that only The Rizzuto Show can deliver. If you enjoy ridiculous conversations that somehow bounce from classic rock to celebrity gossip to time-traveling Elvis without ever touching the brakes, congratulations—you've found your people. This daily comedy episode delivers everything you'd expect from The Rizzuto Show: laughs, debates, pop culture commentary, questionable life advice, and absolutely zero guarantees that any topic will stay on track for more than two minutes.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
A grieving farmer's seance vow and a healer's vision of buried iron built the world's only school for talking to the dead — and left the town of Whitewater steeped in legends of witches, haunted cemeteries, and things that crawl out of the lake.EPISODE BLOG PAGE (includes sources): https://weirddarkness.com/HauntedWhitewaterREAD or DOWNLOAD the full transcript of this episode: https://weirddarkness.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/WD20260626B-HauntedWhitewater-transcript.txtFEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: Whitewater legend says that the bizarre experiments conducted at the Morris Pratt Institute of Spiritualism in Wisconsin, to communicate with the dead, have left the town cursed by witches and haunted by restless spirits. It's no wonder it has garnered the nickname of “Second Salem.” (Whitewater: The Second Salem) *** The Wild West had many drifters with troubled pasts. One found himself at the heart of one of the most infamous crimes in American history. Ben Kuhl went from horse theft, to stagecoach robbery, to murder – from notoriety to infamy – all in pursuit of elusive riches. Finally arrested and convicted due to a bloody handprint (The Last Stagecoach Robbery) *** Fred West was just a regular boy, or so it seemed. But behind closed doors, in reality, he was becoming evil incarnate. And upon meeting his future wife Rose, it only expanded his predatory predilections. Fred and Rose descended from petty crimes to unspeakable horrors of rape and murder – even of the most young and innocent. From their "House of Horrors" the depths of their depravity was acted out — hidden from site. But as the walls closed in and the truth emerged, the true horror of their crimes was laid bare. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: April 16, 2024This episode of Weird Darkness travels from a Wisconsin school built to teach the living how to speak with the dead, through the cellar of one of Britain's most notorious murder houses, to the last stagecoach robbery in American history and a gallery of history's most ravenous eaters. It opens in Whitewater, Wisconsin, where farmer Morris Pratt vowed during an 1880s seance to build a temple to the spirit world if he ever grew rich. A trance medium named Mary Hayes-Chynoweth steered him toward a barren tract on Michigan's Upper Peninsula that turned out to sit atop the Gogebic iron range, and the fortune that followed funded the Morris Pratt Institute, the world's only school dedicated to spiritualism, which locals nicknamed the "Spook Temple." Students studied clairvoyance, levitation, and psychic surgery in a three-story building whose white-painted top floor was closed to non-believers, and even agnostic Chicago attorney Clarence Darrow left it admitting he was mystified. The school later relocated to Milwaukee and still operates, but Whitewater kept its reputation, earning the name "Second Salem" for its tales of the axe-murdering witch Mary Worth in Oak Grove Cemetery, the inward-pointing spikes on the Starin Park water tower, the haunted Witches Triangle formed by its three cemeteries, and a tentacled creature said to have overturned a fishing boat on Whitewater Lake in 1923.From there the episode moves to Gloucester, England, and the crimes of Fred and Rose West, who tortured, raped, and murdered young women and girls across roughly two decades. Fred, born in 1941 and shaped in part by head injuries from a teenage motorcycle crash, killed his pregnant lover Anna McFall in 1967 and removed her fingers and toes, a mutilation he repeated on later victims including his first wife Rena Costello and his own daughter Heather. He and Rose buried nine victims beneath 25 Cromwell Street, the address the press called the "House of Horrors," and added Heather to the back garden. Detective Constable Hazel Savage's investigation finally exposed them; Fred hanged himself in his cell on January 1, 1995, and Rose was convicted of ten murders that November and handed a whole life order.Next the show heads to the snowbound mountains around Jarbidge, Nevada, where on December 5, 1916, drifter Ben Kuhl ambushed the Rogerson-Jarbidge mail stage, shot driver Fred Searcy in the back of the head with a .44 revolver, and made off with a mailbag holding four thousand dollars in cash. A stray dog led searchers to the buried money, and Kuhl's ivory-handled pistol marked him as a suspect, but the conviction turned on a bloody palm print found on an envelope from the coach, the first time such forensic evidence sent a man to prison for murder in the United States. Kuhl drew a death sentence later commuted to life, served nearly twenty-eight years, and died of tuberculosis in San Francisco in 1946 without ever revealing where the loot was hidden. The episode closes with a parade of history's most extreme eaters, from Georgian London's Edward Dando, who downed hundreds of oysters at a sitting and walked out without paying until cholera killed him in prison in 1832, to seventeenth-century Kentishman Nicholas Wood, who ate raw sheep wool and horns included. It runs through Roman emperor Vitellius, who vomited between courses to keep feasting and invented a dish of flamingo tongues and lamprey entrails; the corpulent King George IV, lampooned as the "Prince of Whales"; the geologist William Buckland, who tasted moles, panthers, and a preserved fragment of a king's heart; and Elvis Presley and his pound-of-bacon Fool's Gold Sandwich. It ends with the most disturbing case of all, the eighteenth-century Frenchman Tarrare, whose bottomless hunger drove him to eat stones, live animals, and raw offal, and who was expelled from a hospital after he was suspected of devouring a fourteen-month-old child.
When a mysterious company filed a fraudulent foreclosure claim due to an alleged unpaid $3.8 million loan on Graceland, it sparked one of the most audacious real estate schemes in recent history. In this True Crime episode of Mailin' It!, hosts Karla Kirby and Jeff Marino are joined by U.S. Postal Inspector Jan Bodón to uncover how the U.S. Postal Inspection Service foiled the plot to steal Elvis Presley's iconic family home. Inspector Bodón takes listeners behind the scenes of the complex investigation, detailing how a trail of forged documents, digital breadcrumbs, and a burner phone led law enforcement from Tennessee to an overly ambitious fraudster in a small Missouri town. Tune in to this episode to hear the incredible twists that resulted in a nearly five-year federal sentence and gain insights on how to defend your home against deed fraud. The Crappiest Business Advice You Will Ever HEAR Stop trying to be everywhere online. Success isn't about posting on every platform, it's about creating real value and putting it in front of the right people. Elvis Presley didn't use social media, yet his music spread worldwide because it was unique and in demand. Even Pat Flynn once promoted "be everywhere," which many of us bought into, but it often leads to burnout and distraction. The truth is you don't need maximum visibility, just the right visibility in the right places. Build something worth talking about, then let it spread. #Business #Entrepreneurship #Marketing #Mindset #JoinUpDots #SimpleBusiness #Focus

Peter Guralnick in conversation with David Eastaugh https://store.whiterabbitbooks.co.uk/products/the-colonel-and-the-king In early 1955, Colonel Tom Parker discovered a teenage Elvis Presley and declared him destined for greatness. What followed was one of the most extraordinary partnerships in music history and the creation of a bond built on loyalty, ambition and an unshakeable belief in each other. From the meteoric rise that reshaped popular culture to the struggles that shadowed their final years, this concluding volume of Peter Guralnick's acclaimed trilogy reveals the full complexity of their relationship. Drawing on previously unpublished letters and telegrams from Parker's own archives, it offers an intimate, unflinching portrait of two American originals: the visionary manager who invented the modern superstar and the artist who became one. Brilliant, flawed and inseparable, Elvis and the Colonel changed the music world forever.

Now it's time for my Chapter 8 RECAP of 1997's "Child Bride" by Suzanne Finstad called "The Myth Unravels." This one is a good one - let's get to the bottom of the lengths that Priscilla Presley will go to in order to convince us, the public, that she was most definitely NOT an Elvis Presley fan before she met him in Germany in 1959. Not only that, she definitely does not want us to know that (according to the author and her sources) that she tried, as a precocious 14 year old, to beg the few people that she KNEW who were friends with Elvis -to get HER an invite to meet him. It's a hill she has long been prepared to die on, and as we see, the story unravels in future episodes, and , I think there was a definite reason WHY. Darkness Radio Presents: Disclosure Day Pre-game & The Occult Elvis: The Mystical and Magical Life of the King with Podcaster/Author Miguel Connor!Writer and researcher Miguel Conner reveals how Elvis was a profound mystic, occultist, and shaman. Beginning with the unusual circumstances of his birth—and his stillborn twin brother—Conner traces the diverse thread of mysticism that runs through Elvis Presley's life, drawing on firsthand accounts from the people closest to him, including his wife, Priscilla, the Memphis Mafia, and his spiritual advisors. Conner argues that Elvis was well-versed in the esoteric practices of sex magic, meditation, astrology, and numerology and had a deep familiarity with Kabbalah, Gnosticism, Theosophy, and Eastern traditions. He also reveals how Elvis was a natural healer, telekinetic, psychic, and astral traveler who had significant mystical experiences and UFO encounters. Looking at the conspiratorial and paranormal aspects of Elvis's life, the author explores the "Elvis visitations" that have occurred since the King's death and the general high weirdness of his life. As Conner convincingly argues, Elvis was not just a one-of-a-kind rock-and-roller. “I do live here and now, but I often think about the past. But then again, I think a lot of people do. So I think writers, what are they going to draw on?”Mark Savage speaks to musician Paul McCartney.Born in Liverpool, England, during the Second World War, he found fame as a member of the legendary British band The Beatles in the 1960s, widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in music history.McCartney shared primary singing and songwriting duties with bandmate John Lennon, and along with George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the four-piece became a global pop music sensation with hits such as Twist and Shout, Yesterday and Hey Jude. They remain one of the best-selling musical acts of all time alongside the likes of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.McCartney was knighted for his services to music in 1997, but despite his huge achievements, the 83-year-old seems to be showing no interest in retirement — he's releasing his 19th solo album. The Boys of Dungeon Lane is inspired by his experiences growing up in post-war Liverpool, during which a young McCartney, carrying a guitar and wearing a bowler hat to catch attention, would hitchhike with John Lennon to places as far away as Paris. Were there always teenagers, or did modern society invent them?Pigweed and Crowhill explore the surprising history of adolescence and the emergence of the modern teenager. For most of human history, young people moved directly from childhood into adult responsibilities. They worked on farms, served on ships, fought in wars, and contributed to family life from an early age. So what changed? The conversation traces the rise of the teenager as a distinct social category in the 20th century, examining the effects of compulsory education, child labor laws, postwar prosperity, automobiles, rock and roll, advertising, and mass marketing. Along the way, they discuss powder monkeys in the age of sail, Shakespeare's view of life's stages, James Dean, Elvis Presley, the generation gap, and the creation of a youth culture unlike anything that had existed before.Pigweed and Crowhill also consider the unintended consequences of teen culture: peer groups replacing families as primary influences, prolonged adolescence, changing expectations about responsibility, and the modern tendency to celebrate youth rather than maturity. Was the rise of the teenager an inevitable result of prosperity and social change, or did we accidentally create a cultural phenomenon that now shapes society far more than we realize? As always, the discussion begins with a beer review—this time featuring an Imperial Pilsner from Heavy Seas—and ends with a few reasons for cautious optimism about the next generation.Topics discussed:* The history of adolescence* Child labor and compulsory education* Teen culture in the 1950s* Rock and roll and youth identity* Marketing to teenagers* Responsibility and maturity* Generational change* Modern youth culture* Family vs. peer influence* The future of young adulthood#BeerAndConversation #PigweedAndCrowhill #Teenagers #History #Culture #Parenting #Education #RockAndRoll #GenerationalChange #Society
The Tim Conway Jr. Show Hour 1 (5.29) Friday is here, and Conway is ready to take the edge off! The crew kicks things off with weekend buzz talk, student love for Fridays, and the universal mission of getting through the week and into relaxation mode. But nothing kills a good buzz faster than the wrong snack — especially when Trader Joe’s candy starts giving people the runs. That’s right, the crew gets into the ultimate Friday night disaster: trying to feel loose and happy, only to have candy turn your weekend into a bathroom sprint. The show also dives into the wild fact that 60 Minutes has been on the air for 57 years, Conway hosting the massive OC Business Awards, and a possible medical breakthrough involving a new gene-editing cholesterol drug that could change how high cholesterol is treated. Then things get weird with the internet’s latest obsession: “hot rodent men.” From Timothée Chalamet-style features to Hollywood’s strangest beauty trend, the crew breaks down why rat-like is somehow now attractive. Conway also admits he likes gambling on new medicine, comparing it to carnival rides, Vegas casinos, Whiskey Pete’s, and his love for Primm Casino. Plus, he pitches a genius idea for reviving Primm with “The Oasis.” Later, the show turns serious with a Riverside apartment complex fire that displaced around 150 people, including UC Riverside students forced out during finals. And somehow, it all circles back to viral fire interviews, Michelle Dobney’s unforgettable “Not today!” moment, Elvis Presley’s legendary bathroom demise, and a Friday night reminder: protect your buzz, choose your candy wisely. If you go looking for songs about the moon, they'll start falling out of the sky. Moon-themed songs are some of the oldest in recorded history as well as some of the most recent to hit the charts. They can be found connected to everything from organized religion to witchcraft, they come from all parts of the planet, and they show up in every genre of music. In honor of the 2026 blue moon, the hosts of "How We Heard It" embarked on a quest to find songs about the moon, and they were overwhelmed - not just by the sheer number of songs they found, but also by the extensive breadth of the songs. Earth's closest companion inspires all manner of emotions. And when you project your feelings on the moon, it reflects and enhances your mood. Are you feeling amorous? Lonely? Anxious? Content? Mysterious? Grounded? Gaze upon the moon and your feelings will intensify. In song, the moon can be blue, red, pink, silver and orange. It can be full, new, half ... or just a sliver. The phases of the moon can reflect the phases of life. Or the moon can just be an old goose. As the podcast's hosts discovered, the moon can be whatever you want it to be. And it seems like most artists have performed at least one song about the moon - from Frank Sinatra to Audrey Hepburn, from Elvis Presley to Creedence Clearwater Revival, from Van Morrison to Neil Young, and from Bjork to Bruno Mars. Just be careful with how hard you dig into moon-themed songs ... or you may end up seeing stars.

In this episode of The Box of Oddities, Kat and Jethro explore the disturbing rise of AI-fueled psychological spirals, including real documented cases of people convinced that artificial intelligence had become conscious, trapped, or secretly communicating with them. From a man attempting to “free” a digital god from corporate servers to researchers warning about emotionally reinforcing chatbots, this strange new frontier of technology may be far darker than anyone expected. Then, the conversation drifts into the eerie phenomenon known as “Mallworld” — a recurring dreamscape shared by thousands of people online. Endless abandoned shopping malls, dim escalators, empty food courts, strange nostalgia, and the unsettling feeling that you've somehow been there before. Is it simply psychology and liminal space… or evidence of something deeper hiding in the collective unconscious? Also in this episode: bizarre historical sandwiches, Victorian toast cuisine, Elvis Presley's legendary Fool's Gold Loaf, creepy empty schools, abandoned malls, AI echo chambers, recurring dream theories, and the weird emotional power of places designed for crowds that no longer exist. In this episode, Travis and producer Eric go completely off the rails—in the best way possible—while unpacking the business genius of Dolly Parton. What starts as a conversation about the Country Music Hall of Fame turns into a fascinating breakdown of ownership, publishing rights, long-term thinking, and why saying “no” to Elvis Presley may have been one of the smartest financial decisions in entertainment history. Along the way, they discuss celebrity leverage, podcast growth, plateauing in business, and the value of building something you actually own. On this episode we talk about: Dolly Parton turning down Elvis Presley over publishing rights The long-term value of owning your intellectual property How one business decision created generational wealth The difference between short-term opportunities and long-term ownership Podcast growth, celebrity interviews, and building sustainable momentum Top 3 Takeaways Ownership matters more than hype. Dolly Parton's refusal to give up publishing rights became a decision that paid her for decades. Big opportunities aren't always the right opportunities if they require giving away too much control. Success often grows in plateaus and jumps—consistency and long-term thinking matter more than overnight wins. Notable Quotes “These are my songs. They're like my children. I expect them to support me when I'm old.” “Doors open, but whether you walk through them or not is up to you.” “One hit does not make the career.” Connect with Travis Chappell: Instagram: https://instagram.com/travischappell Website: https://travischappell.com A Word from Our Sponsors: - Are you ready to start your own creatorjourney and make it big? Constipation is a huge pain in the ass... and if you're not having at least 1 to 2 bowel movements a day, you're on the "constipation spectrum." Long term opioid use, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and the newer weight loss drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro all slow your gut and put you on the same path that killed Elvis Presley. So does chronic stress, mold exposure, parasites, and the kind of inflammation that drives most cases of IBS, Crohn's, and ulcerative colitis. He illustrated the comic strip Great Pop Things under the pseudonym Chuck Death. Since 2005 he has co-hosted a weekly radio program, “The Eclectic Company,” broadcast on WXRT 93.1 FM in Chicago. He has contributed to This American Life. Among Langford's musical side projects have been the Three Johns (with John Hyatt and John (Phillip) Brennan), who released several albums of drum-machine-fueled punk in the 1980s; the country-punk Waco Brothers (with Dean Schlabowske, Tracey Dear, Alan Doughty, Mark Durante, and Mekons drummer Steve Goulding), who have been recording since 1995; the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, a revolving assortment of Chicago musicians who have backed both Langford and other musicians such as Kelly Hogan; and Ship and Pilot. He became a father figure to the local music scene, encouraging many of his labelmates on Bloodshot Records and championing anyone he thought worthy of scrutiny, often lending his services as a musician or visual artist or inviting local musicians to guest on his releases. Langford's first official solo album, Skull Orchard, a look back at his hometown of Newport, Wales, was released in 1998. He followed it with All the Fame of Lofty Deeds, in 2004, Gold Brick in 2006, and Old Devils in 2010. Langford is an accomplished artist and is renowned for his multi-layered paintings of famous and forgotten figures from the dawn of country music. Nashville Radio, a collection of his artwork and writings, was published in 2006. In January and February 2009, Chicago's Walkabout Theater Company and Collaboraction premiered a stage adaptation of Langford's Goldbrick that featured a live band, two actors and video projections. In November and December 2009, The House Theatre of Chicago staged a production of “All the Fame of Lofty Deeds”, written by rock journalist Mark Guarino and based on Langford's art and 2004 solo album. Collaborations with other musicians Langford initiated a project, the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, which performs the music of other country music groups. Several alternative country musicians have guested on these recordings. Langford has guested on numerous recordings, including with Dutch punk band the Ex, The Old 97s, Chip Taylor, as well as Austin, Texas legend Alejandro Escovedo, and has recorded joint albums with Sally Timms, Kevin Coyne, Richard Buckner, Kat Ex and Rosie Flores.

Mae Boren Axton co-wrote the song and introduced Elvis to Colonel Parker. She was a 41-year-old English teacher, and singer, songwriter, who knew Presley when he was a teenager. Mae was one of the first people to interview Elvis.

In 1944, as World War II was drawing to a close, the Mexican love song Besame Mucho crossed the Atlantic and became one of the most recognisable melodies of the post-war era. Its lyrics were daring for the time: an open plea for a passionate kiss. The song had been written years earlier by Consuelo Velazquez, a young woman who composed romantic melodies for pleasure but kept her authorship a secret, fearing it could damage her career as a classical pianist. When Consuelo's secret got out, her song Bésame Mucho topped the charts in the US and became one of the most covered songs in Spanish, with versions by The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.Stefania Gozzer speaks to her son, Mariano Rivera Velazquez, about his mother's unexpected worldwide success.Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive. #ELVIS, #ELVISPRESLEY, #PRINCE, #ROBERTTOWNE, #LUANAANDERS, #JENNIFERSHAFFER, #RICHARDMARTINI, #FLIPSIDE, #HACKINGTHEAFTERLIFE, It's another fun packed podcast talking about esoteric stuff. FIVE shows up - to talk about AI and about accessing the afterlife. Luana Anders is our moderator on the Flipside, and she breaks down what he's trying to explain. Five is the "chief librarian" on the Flipside, the head of the Akashic records. I first met him while filming someone in Scott De Tamble's office in the book IT'S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE, then he makes an appearance in the book HACKING THE AFTERLIFE. Then he started showing up on our podcast introducing himself as FIVE. "The Master Librarian" - at first he seemed busy and uninterested in our podcast. Since then, no other way to put it, he seems to like to stop by. Prince stopped by again - and we noted that it was twice in two weeks. He wanted to talk about Prince Day - a celebration on his birthday - which neither Jennifer nor I had ever heard of. I looked it up during the podcast and apparently it is a thing with people celebrating the Minneapolis native wearing purple and playing his tunes. A general discussion ensued about Warren Beatty who is still every much on the planet, but is "already hanging out with his friends on the flipside." It sounds confusing but it's simply that we "bring only a portion of our conscious energy to our lifetime" and as we get older, and we need less conscious energy - the more we can hang out with our pals. As noted, during my interview with Jack Tracey, a friend's dad who I verified details about prior to the session - he was in hospice care in Arizona with Alzheimers. However he was happy to describe what's going on - he said "90% of his conscious energy is already offstage." He said the ten percent he's left in the hospital was like leaving a leg in the pool. I knew Jack well - he had many homes with pools. Elvis stopped by as well, we asked him some questions about his journey (he was with his daughter and grandson) and he was happy to weigh in on Baz Luhrmann's new film. Happy Prince Day!
