Nearly 300 million people from across the globe are currently facing severe food insecurity. And according to the latest report from the United Nations, that figure is set to rise sharply unless immediate action is taken. On this edition of The Agenda, Juliet Mann examines what can be done to address the looming catastrophe. She speaks to Dr Bart de Steenhuijsen Piters, Senior Researcher in Food Systems at Wageningen University, Faustine Bas-Defossez, Director for Health, Nature, and Environment at the European Environmental Bureau, Morgan Ody, a French vegetable farmer and General Coordinator of peasants' movement, La Via Campesina and Tess Ingram from UNICEF, who's just returned from Gaza.
The United States has approved the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Türkiye after Turkish Grand National Assembly ratified Sweden's NATO membership. The State Department notified U.S. Congress of the $23bn agreement to sell the aircraft, modernization kits, and other equipment. These developments indicate that we are nearing the conclusion of the long-debated F-16 issue which should have been a rather routine and less politicized arms deal between the two NATO allies. Many observers regard the sale of F-16s a glimmer of hope for improving bilateral ties. The sale might serve as an opportunity to begin a new chapter by addressing mutual distrust and promoting cooperation between the two countries. What are the remaining steps for the completion of the sale? What is the importance of the F-16s for Türkiye's security needs? What are the implications of the F-16 deal's for the U.S.-Türkiye defense relations, and how does this influence their broader partnership? Will this momentum spillover to other issue areas where significant differences remain? The SETA Foundation in Washington DC is pleased to convene a panel of experts to discuss the F-16 deal's implications for the U.S.-Türkiye relations. Türkiye has completed its pivotal presidential elections, with nearly 54 million individuals casting their votes. Erdogan secured 52% of the votes, earning him another presidential term. The question that stands at the forefront is: what were the key factors behind Erdogan's success? What are the messages that the Turkish electorate sought to convey through their votes? Going forward, what will be the nature of the relationship between the legislative and executive branches in the wake of these results? And what will be the implications for domestic and international policy? The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to convene a panel of experts to shed light on the Turkish presidential election results, evaluate the candidates' performance since the first round, and discuss policy implications. Turkish citizens are going to polls this Sunday for the second round of Turkish presidential elections. The race is a contest between the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu. Having registered a 5-point lead in the first round, Erdogan approaches this critical phase with robust support while the opposition has been trying to recalibrate their message given the disappointing results in the first round. Election predictions have become more complex as the presidential hopeful Sinan Ogan, who received about 5% of the votes in the first round, endorsed Erdogan, while his supporter the Victory Party declared its support for Kilicdaroglu. How will these new endorsements alter the candidates' likelihood of success? Were there any notable policy position shifts? What sort of Türkiye can we expect to wake up to next Monday? The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to convene a panel of experts to shed light on the Turkish presidential election runoff, discuss the trends since the first round, and evaluate candidates' chances of success. Turkish citizens cast their votes in one of the most significant elections in the country's recent history. Over 54 million people exercised their democratic rights during this critical juncture. The People's Alliance claimed victory in the parliamentary elections, securing a substantial majority. Meanwhile, President Erdogan maintained a lead of at least four points against his main rival, Kilicdaroglu. As of Sunday evening, it appears that the country is set for a runoff election in two weeks. Looking ahead, the crucial question that lingers is – what lies in store for the nation? What strategies will the presidential candidates adopt as they move forward? How will the outcome of this election influence Türkiye's future both domestically and on the international stage. The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to convene a panel of experts to shed light on Turkish election results, discuss the new parliamentary composition and explore potential runoff scenarios. With the pivotal presidential and parliamentary elections in Türkiye only a few days away, the political climate is intensifying. The People's Alliance and the Nation Alliance are embroiled in a stiff competition, each striving to secure a majority in the Turkish Parliament. Adding to the high stakes, incumbent President Erdogan faces a challenge from the main opposition's Kilicdaroglu and ATA's Ogan. Memleket Party's Ince, on the other hand, has unexpectedly withdrawn from the race, rendering the outcome of the elections even more unpredictable. The upcoming elections carry far-reaching consequences, poised to shape the nation's political landscape for the next five years and define its economic outlook as well as national security. The outcome will also have critical foreign policy implications for the regions surrounding Türkiye. The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to convene a panel of experts to shed light on the forthcoming Turkish elections, explore the candidates' chances of success, and discuss potential outcomes. Türkiye approaches its pivotal presidential and parliamentary elections as the nation's political landscape becomes increasingly more competitive with the People's Alliance and the Nation Alliance vying for majority in the Turkish Parliament. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is being challenged by three candidates including the main opposition's Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Memleket Party's Muharrem İnce, and ATA alliance's Sinan Oğan. These elections will have far-reaching consequences, as they will not only shape Türkiye's political landscape for the next five years but also set the tone for economic outlook, national security, and regional stability. The outcome will have significant foreign policy implications for the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine, relations with the EU and the US as well as neighboring countries. In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes, voters will judge the candidates' ability to rebuild the country, address the sensitive topics around Kurdish, Alevi and refugee issues, combat terrorism, and address regional challenges. The stakes are high as the results of these elections will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping Türkiye's future both domestically and on the international stage. The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to convene a panel of experts to shed light on the forthcoming Turkish elections, explore the candidates' chances of success, and discuss potential outcomes. With the start of the war in Ukraine, NATO has been faced with numerous challenges including reassuring allies, reinforcing common defense, and considering the alliance's enlargement to the north. Finland and Sweden's requests for a fast-track NATO membership emerged as a significant focus for the alliance, as these countries decided to abandon their historically neutral position toward Russia. Türkiye sought assurances from these candidate countries regarding terrorism as a prerequisite for joining NATO. Having completed the items outlined in the Trilateral agreement, Finland became the 31st NATO member after receiving Türkiye's endorsement. Even though Ankara supports NATO's open door policy as a matter of principle, it expects Sweden to assuage Turkish concerns prior to admission. What implications will Finland's accession to NATO have on the future of NATO? Can Sweden meet the Turkish expectations before the NATO Summit in July in Vilnius? What are the implications of NATO's enlargement for Ukraine's hopes for membership? The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to host a distinguished expert panel discussion on NATO's enlargement with Finland's entry, Türkiye's reservations about Sweden's application, and the growing support for Ukraine's membership. Today's guest is Jorge Colón Delgado, the Official Historian of the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball League and General Coordinator of the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball Hall of Fame. Jorge and I first started working together on the Negro Leaguers in Puerto Rico live webinar series. I have learned so much about the incredible melting pot that the Puerto Rican league was. Many of the very best players on the planet traveled to the island in the Winter to continue playing (and to continue making money). It is impossible to fully appreciate the careers of pre-integration Black and Afro-Latino ballplayers without considering all the different places they plied their trade. Because they were barred from the American and National League, they played wherever they could—and the Negro Leagues was only a part of that. We discussed the Puerto Rico Professional Baseball Hall of Fame, the stellar first class from 1991, and Jorge's role in reviving the Hall of Fame. Finally, we briefly touched on the new Class of 2022 (which features well-known players like José Cruz and Mike Cuellar). Humanitarian work has evolved over the years from initially serving religious and political agendas, to non-profit non-governmental and civil society organizations, to large international institutions. The proliferation of many organizations raises many questions prime among them: why? who can we trust? who is legitimate? And how and what works? Helping us understand all of this is Dr Kamel Mohanna, a physician and a humanitarian who's been a beacon in the field. Dr Mohanna is the General Coordinator of the Arab NGOs, and the Founding President of Amel Association International. Pope Francis will be in Canada next week, July 24-29. This week, on a special edition of the SLHour, we bring you two conversations from the Upfront with the Archbishop podcast with Archbishop Richard Smith of Edmonton: Archbishop Smith, himself, who is the General Coordinator of the Papal Visit and Fr. The July 15 failed coup attempt of 2016 has served as a major turning point in Turkish political history. The event came as a major shock to most observers of Türkiye, leaving a legacy that has continued to impact Turkish politics in even the most fundamental ways. As Türkiye was already grappling with tectonic shifts in the Middle East, the country was faced with an unprecedented challenge of rooting out the perpetrators of the coup attempt. Addressing the political, security, bureaucratic, economic, and social impact of this historic moment has been a top priority for Turkish political actors. Domestic changes inside Türkiye have pushed the country towards a more ambitious foreign policy within the region as well. Turkish-American relations have also been redefined amidst regional instability and the war in Ukraine. It has been a challenge for many observers to assess the impact of the coup attempt on Türkiye's domestic and foreign policies. How did the July 15 coup attempt change domestic politics? What are the major changes in Turkish foreign policy in the past six years? How has the Turkish-American relationship been impacted by the failed coup attempt? The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to host a conference on the legacy of the July 15 coup attempt in Turkish politics and foreign policy. Speakers: Yasin Aktay, Former Member of Parliament and Advisor to the AK Party Chairman Burhanettin Duran, General Coordinator, The SETA Foundation Moderator: Tugba Eksi, Research Assistant, SETA Foundation at Washington D.C. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/seta-dc/support

Emma hosts Robert Kuttner, founder and editor at the American Prospect, to discuss his recent piece "After Hyper-Globalization". Then Emma is joined by David Adler, General Coordinator at Progressive International, to discuss the recent Colombian elections. First, however, Emma discusses Israel once again disbanding a corrupt far-right apartheid government, to leave the power open for another new far-right apartheid movement to come to power, and dives into the slow but steady emergence of evidence proving more and more of the Uvalde Police's statements as blatant lies attempting to cover their ass as they stood around while children died. Then, Robert Kuttner joins as he and Emma dive right into what hyper globalization is, and why this system, based on a complete absence of regulation of commerce, trade, and production across borders, was so primed to fail (hint: it had to do with its complete refusal to regulate capitalism), collapsing as soon as China arrived in the WTO and refused to comply, and the COVID pandemic shut down supply lines worldwide. Next, Kuttner walks through the history of hyper globalization, with Clinton's neoliberal regimes of the 90s starting a move to international trade agreements that sought to undercut foreign countries' ability to regulate capitalism and gave US Banks footholds abroad, before he and Emma jump back to the 1940s, looking at the conceptual systems that preluded it, focusing on the Bretton Woods system of Keynesian economics that emphasized what was essentially an international new deal, built on the spine of an International Monetary Fund to advance funding to struggling economies, a World Bank for public investment in development, and an International Trade Organization that allows countries to enforce labor rights in international trade. Robert Kuttner then contrasts Keynes' dream with the eventual World Trade Organization as a purified right-wing capitalist version of his vision, abusing concepts of sovereignty, property rights, and intellectual property to bolster Western corporations and keep down nations that they see as only necessary for extraction. They wrap up the interview by touching on the role of Biden (and Trump!) in reversing this global trend, and discuss what a new deal for the global south would look like, and how we can fight for it. Then, Emma is joined by David Adler as he situates Gustavo Petro's victory as the first progressive administration to come to power in Colombia, coming to power in a wholesale rejection of the far-right, neo-imperial military alliance that defined the Uribismo ideology that defined Iván Duque Márquez's administration and those that came before him (since, unsurprisingly, the Uribe administration). They wrap up their discussion with a conversation on the international reactions from both the far-right and the progressive left, the importance of the recent success of leftist candidates in Latin America, and the corruption and lies that fuel the US' relationship in the region. And in the Fun Half: Emma discusses the Chesa Boudin recall with Nathaniel from Berkeley, and Joe Rogan hosts a military-response training specialist to discuss why the police in Uvalde needed more military-response training (which they already had) to protect their egos. Sean from Washington asks Emma about one of the few sports she's not well-versed in, Larry Kudlow asks Pence if he's EVER seen a president lie like this, and Emma and the crew dive into the UK Rail Strike. Grayson from Michigan discusses being screened by Denis Prager's staff, more cops get scared of touching things, plus, your calls! Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO last month, breaking their long-standing neutral status following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. As fears about potential Russian military actions in Eastern Europe and the Baltic region reached their highest levels in years, Türkiye has voiced its reservations about Finland and Sweden's membership applications. Citing the two Nordic countries' stances on terrorism, the Turkish leadership has indicated that Finland and Sweden need to take “concrete steps” to address Türkiye's concerns. Expressing hope that the Turkish reservations can be overcome, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Türkiye's concerns about terrorism were legitimate. As we approach NATO's Madrid Summit at the end of June, it remains unclear how the NATO members will handle Finland and Sweden's inclusion in the alliance given Turkish objections. How will Türkiye's position shape NATO's enlargement prospects? Can NATO members address the issues raised by Türkiye? What lies ahead for NATO's internal unity on enlargement in the wake of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine? The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to host a panel of distinguished experts to analyze the future of NATO enlargement and its implications for the international system. Join Dissenters and Rampant Magazine to discuss abolition, imperialism, and building a movement for our global liberation. While the United States sends drones and drops bombs in the Middle East and Africa, militarized police at home are killing Black people and filling detention centers on the Mexico border. These are two sides of the same imperialist coin. Sprawling military bases around the world support the everyday brutal violence of empire and US-backed military coups tear apart homes and force migration. Their wars haunt our families and bring violence into our homes and neighborhoods. It is time we abolish their wars. Dissenters is leading a new generation of young people to reclaim our resources from the war industry, reinvest in life-giving services, and repair collaborative relationships with the earth and people around the world. Join Dissenters and Rampant Magazine for a discussion about rebuilding a movement against imperialism and creating a new global future built from mutual care, real safety, and liberation. Are we happy with more? Not always (unless it's more dirt, in which case there's a direct translation for some of us dirt hoarders).Today we bring you an interview from one of our newly-favorite events. Daniel Wengerd, General Coordinator for Horse Progress Days 2021, sits down and talks with us about the planning behind an undertaking like this, and how a team of “Plain People” (you'll find out what that means if you listen) worked together to create something that is incredibly complex, yet seems so simple. That's no small feat with something that involves 40,000 people, 400 horses, and 40 tons of manure, among a lot of other interesting things. Okay, so maybe the manure was an estimate, but what little was visible went to good use, we can assure you. There will be more upcoming podcasts from Horse Progress Days 2021, and we'll be going back again to this fabulous rotating event, no matter which midwestern vowel state it's in next year. It's simply one of the most enjoyable events we've covered, with some of the nicest people we've met. And they had manure spreaders. Life is good. Join Haymarket Books, Jacobin, and the Debt Collective for a discussion of how to build the movement for debt abolition! ---------------------------------------------------- Emboldened by the election of Joe Biden and the continued crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Debt Collective has renewed its call for the new president to cancel all student debt during his first 100 days in office. Debtors have been mocked, scolded and lied to for decades. We have been told that it is perfectly normal to go into debt to get medical care, to go to school, or even to pay for our own incarceration. We've been told there is no way to change an economy that pushes the majority of people into debt while a small minority hoard wealth and power. The coronavirus pandemic has revealed that mass indebtedness and extreme inequality are a political choice. In the early days of the crisis, elected officials drew up plans to spend trillions of dollars. The only question was: where would the money go and who would benefit from the bailout? The truth is that there has never been a lack of money for things like housing, education and health care. Millions of people never needed to be forced into debt for those things in the first place. Armed with this knowledge, a militant debtors movement has the potential to rewrite the contract and assure that no one has to mortgage their future to survive. Debtors of the World Must Unite. As isolated individuals, debtors have little influence. But as a bloc, we can leverage our debts and devise new tactics to challenge the corporate creditor class and help win reparative, universal public goods. Individually, our debts overwhelm us. But together, our debts can make us powerful. ---------------------------------------------------- Speakers: Hannah Appel is a Professor of Anthropology and Global Studies at UCLA and a political organizer. She is the author, most recently, of The Licit Life of Capitalism: US Oil in Equatorial Guinea, and serves as the Associate Director of the UCLA Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy, where she leads the Future of Finance research stream. Berta Cáceres is one of the most well-known Honduran activists. She was murdered in her home almost 5 years ago on March 2, 2016. The legal case against David Castillo, one of the accused masterminds of Berta Cáceres’s murder keeps being postponed. To date, no other intellectual authors have been accused or arrested despite sufficient evidence outlining the involvement of powerful Honduran businessmen invested in the Agua Zarca dam, in Berta’s murder. This is “justice” in Honduras, even for cases as emblematic as the cases surrounding the murder of well known indigenous activist, Berta Cáceres. But who is Roberto David Castillo Mejía? How is Castillo’s defense arguing his case? What is the strategy behind all the delay tactics to avoid the trial process against Castillo? We hear from Berta Zúniga Cáceres, Berta’s second oldest daughter and the General Coordinator of the Civic Council for Popular and Indigenous Organizations in Honduras (COPINH) & Victor Fernandez, the lead lawyer representing COPINH & Berta’s family. Armin Laschet is the new leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the main political party in Germany. Why is this relevant? Because he is likely to become Angela Merkel's successor as German Chancellor later on this year. To talk about this topic I sit down with Joshua Dario Hasenstab, General Coordinator at RAIA Group, a global politics Think Tank. Germany faces great challenges when it comes to climate change and digital transformation. It is also a key player in the EU's foreign policy decisions. Our goal is to give an insight into Laschet's stance on these issues and his political goals. As I have said, Laschet is leader of the CDU, this does not mean that he will also be the candidate the party put forward for the general election in September 2021. This is decided together with the Christian Social Union (CSU), their sister party. Give the episode a listen to find out who the other candidates might be!
Dr. Alvaro Salas Castro is a behavioral scientist living and studying in Nosara. In this Nosara Podcast episode, he explains what he has learned so far and provides much insight into the challenges Nosara is facing and significant advantages of Nosara compared to other towns. He explains how federal and local governments and the community organizations all often work separately in different directions and he believes Nosara has the opportunity to become the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Latin America. He thinks closing the beaches is ‘stupid’ and holds nothing back on his opinions. There’s too much for one episode so we’ll break it up into parts plus Dr. Salas will be coming back each month for a while. It’s great having him here and we’ll get out more and more from him for you to see what he’s finding out about our community. Here’s my notes from Part 1 with Dr. Alvaro: What are our biggest challenges? Difference in locals including nationally and internationally Different region investors and local culture 3 layers of misinformation and communication. federal government & local government and community organizations often separately active Potential of Nosara Is communication between Nosara and Nicoya and San Jose historically distant? Unique blend of people here who care about the environment, lots of different people from different countries People in Nosara really care. They don’t talk to government but do care about health, nature, Accumulating good decisions is behavioral economics benefits of here; turtles, fishing, surfing, local and international airports close, etc. A new tamarindo in the negative way of saying that Don’t lose the magic Keeping Nosara Weird (shout out to Carl Wells) Statistically crime is lower in Nosara than other towns Mal País Santa Teresa Education system in Nosara incredible. Teachers from other countries are incredible educators and the ones coming to Nosara are differentiated from others 5% of GDP is to education affordable access to quality vegetables and greens and much exercise He believes Nosara has potential to be silicon valley of Latin America Previously was General Coordinator of task force to mitigate Covid 19 reporting to the President of the Social Security Roman Macaya Business vs protection Tension between cabinet members What are other countries doing? Closing beaches is stupid. He’s a scientist and there’s poor judgment happening Erratic policies unrest and famine are possibilities Local leaders are exciting him. Communities that are healthy organize themselves. What issues need government intervention? How do we bridge the gap between the foreigners and the locals? Coming back each month for his research updates
This person needs no introduction to Concordia students, at least to those students who came before the shutdown. Honoured by being chosen as a laureate by Mois de L'Histoire Des Noirs, he continues to make his communities proud. Listen to us pull back the curtain on what goes on in the mind of our one and only, elected General Coordinator of the CSU, Isaiah Joyner.
This is the last podcast episode I am recording before the end of this crazy, intense, and just straight out tough year that 2020 turned out to be. So I just wanted to say thank you to the guests of all 26 episodes I've recorded so far. I really appreciate that you set aside some of your precious time to talk with me, sometimes during quite stressful moments. This was especially the case for the episodes I recorded early on in the pandemic, when there was so much more uncertainty than there is now. I also wanted to say thank you to all you listeners. On the day I am publishing this episode (December 22nd), we are approaching no less than 6,000 plays! It's been an amazing journey and I've learned so much. Recording these podcast episodes has turned out to be the second best thing to meeting people at international book fairs, which I do hope we can go back to again very soon in the New Year as I miss seeing you all... Now, on to today's episode, on which I'm joined by Rubén Padilla of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as the FIL. This book fair was one of the last, if not the last of the year and as many events that took place this year, it went fully digital. I was curious to hear Rubén's impressions and experiences, especially since the FIL is very much a public fair, besides providing a trade program for international publishing professionals. In fact I learned during the interview that it was created for the public, to give people an opportunity to buy books, as the city of Guadalajara was lacking bookstores at the time. Having a chat with Rubén was a wonderful way to end this year and I hope you'll enjoy it too! Show Notes Rubén's book recommendations – Cometierra by Dolores Reyes (Sigilo for the Spanish (ex USA) edition; to be published as Eartheater in English, translated by Julia Sanches, with HarperVia in September 2021) – Un corazón demasiado grande by Eider Rodriguez (Literatura Random House for the Spanish edition, we didn't find information on a possible forthcoming English edition at the time this episode was published) – Las Malas by Camila Sosa (Tusquets for the Spanish edition, we didn't find information on a possible forthcoming English edition at the time this episode was published) About Rubén Graduated in International Business Management, Rubén works as General Coordinator of Professionals at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL). Among his main tasks, he develops the content of programs such as the International Publishers and Book Professionals Forum, the International Forum of University and Academic Presses and the International Forum of Editorial Design. He is also in charge of the FIL Rights Exchange, the fellowship program of FIL for publishers and editors interested in Spanish-speaking authors. Jury of the 9th Iberoamerican Illustrated Catalog in 2018, he has participated as a speaker in various forums and professional training activities of the publishing industry in the Book Fairs of Bologna (Italy), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Festilus (Chile), LéaLA (USA), Taipei (Taiwan), Bogotá (Colombia), Medellin (Colombia), Oaxaca (Mexico), as well as in specialized meetings such as Festilus (Chile), TLA Annual Conference (USA) and FILI (Finland). He participated in the Istanbul Fellowship Program in 2020.

Bertha von Suttner's path to becoming a leading 19th-century pacifist and the first woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize was far from straightforward. The product of the aristocratic and militaristic world of 19th century Bohemia, as a young woman von Suttner eloped to the Caucasus and turned her hand to writing for a living. On her return to Europe she published an acclaimed anti-war novel, Lay Down Your Arms, a work that marked the start of her quest for disarmament. Her long friendship with Alfred Nobel finally bore fruit in the Swedish industrialist's last will which included the Peace Prize. Bridget Kendall is joined by Dr. Barbara Burns, Reader in German at Glasgow University, and the editor of a new English edition of Lay Down Your Arms; Dr. Peter van den Dungen, former Lecturer in Peace Studies at the University of Bradford and until recently General Coordinator of the International Network of Museums for Peace; and musician Stefan Frankenberger, the author of an audio book called The Unknown Soldier, In memory of Bertha von Suttner. Speakers: Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Fellow, Belfer Center for the Future of Diplomacy, Harvard Kennedy School; Founder, AHA Foundation Darin Johnson, Chief of Staff, Office of Middle East Transitions, U.S. Department of State Ahmed Maher, Founder and General Coordinator, Egypt's April 6 Youth Movement William McCants, Research Scientist, Strategic Studies, Center for Naval Analyses Moderator: Karen Elliott House, Former Publisher, The Wall Street Journal; Author, "On Saudi Arabia". Two years ago, the front-page scenes from the Arab world illustrated aspirations for democracy and collective dignity. Now they are filled with turmoil and violence. Islam has claimed vast political terrain and jihadist extremism has emerged as a potent force in Syria and elsewhere, making would-be Western allies hesitant to support change. All the while, economies in the region continue to deteriorate amid the instability. Can the passions driving politics be channeled into dialogue and peaceful transition? Will women's rights be respected and their roles elevated, or will new theocracies dash hopes for equality? Will the Saudi monarchy, a linchpin in the geopolitics of energy and a close U.S. ally, emerge unscathed when it's all over? The experts on this panel will examine the clashing forces and potential outcomes in a region in which we all have a stake.
