In this deeply powerful conversation, Dr. Dan sits down with bestselling author Blake D. Bauer, author of You Were Not Born to Suffer: Overcome Fear, Insecurity and Depression and Love Yourself Back to Happiness, Confidence and Peace, to explore how adversity can become a source of transformation. Dr. Dan and Blake explore why pain isn't punishment and how suffering points us toward healing, purpose, and freedom. Blake shares his personal journey through addiction, trauma, shame, and emotional pain—and how hitting rock bottom at just 18 years old forced him to choose between healing or self-destruction. That decision led him on a global journey of self-discovery that transformed his life and now helps thousands of others do the same. Together, Dr. Dan and Blake unpack the butterfly metaphor for growth, why suffering can serve a purpose, how childhood wounds shape adult behavior, and why unconditional self-love may be one of the most important skills we can develop. They also explore how self-betrayal shows up in everyday life, why many people struggle to listen to their bodies, and how healing begins when we stop waiting to be rescued and start permitting ourselves to heal. This conversation is a powerful reminder that healing is possible—and freedom may be closer than you think. For more information, visit www.unconditional-selflove.com and on Instagram @blakedbauer. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. ToI founding editor David Horovitz joins host Jessica Steinberg for today's episode. As the US and Iran continue talks regarding a permanent deal, Horovitz says the regime feels it has established control over the Strait of Hormuz and views the US as vulnerable. Horovitz discusses the deal-making tendencies of Trump, a way of thinking that ultimately worked in favor of the Hamas hostage deal, but is harder to achieve with the dilemmas in Iran, with Hezbollah in Lebanon and with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Following Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's recent comment that former prime minister Naftali Bennett’s decision to include the Islamist Ra’am party in his 2021-2022 government was far worse than the governmental failures tied to Hamas’s October 7, 2023, onslaught, Horovitz comments on the level of political hostility and the absence of empathy among Netanyahu's government for all the bereaved Israelis and hostage families. Finally, Horovitz reflects on the recent Golders Green stabbing attack, an iteration of the antisemitic attacks happening all over the Jewish diaspora, and how the British government has handled the situation. Pregnancy and birth don't require perfection to be empowering. She offers grounding guidance for navigating pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood with more trust, self-compassion, and calm. Instead, Dr. Dekker explores how building a supportive team, staying connected to your body, and focusing on what you can control can transform how you approach birth. She also reflects on the value and meaning of childbirth for those who choose it, the importance of respectful and empowering care, and the lifelong practice of letting go of what's outside your control. In this episode, Sean and James discuss the Paris Peace Settlement and the series of treaties that formally ended the First World War. They explore the goals and clashing priorities of the “Big Four” leaders, the key terms of the Treaty of Versailles, and the dramatic territorial, military, and economic consequences imposed on the defeated powers. The discussion also covers the lesser-known treaties with Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire, as well as the creation—and inherent weaknesses—of the League of Nations. Together, the episode explains why the peace of 1919 reshaped the world while planting the seeds for future conflict.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
You have been managing something for a long time. Maybe you don't call it that. Maybe it shows up as a low-grade restlessness, a reflexive reaching for the phone, a fullness in your chest that never quite resolves. You've done the spiritual things. You've prayed, you've worshipped, you've pressed through. And underneath all of it there is still something unresolved, something unnamed, something you have quietly agreed to just carry. And the most confronting possibility in the world is that the people closest to you have gotten comfortable with you carrying it, because a version of you that is fractured and functional and never-quite-well is a version of you they know how to manage. Tim Ross joins me for a conversation that is equal parts pastoral and surgical. Tim is the host of The Basement podcast and the author of The Missing Peace: How to Be Held Together When You're Falling Apart, and what he brings to this conversation is not theory. In 2019, Tim's life was simultaneously at its most visible and its most misaligned, and what cracked the surface was not a catastrophic failure but something quieter and stranger than that, a spray-paint can and six cans from Home Depot on a Saturday night, and elders kind enough to hold a mirror up. We trace that inflection point all the way to a theology of nervous system regulation grounded not in Polyvagal theory alone but in Mark 4, in John 14, in the peace that Jesus left as a Person and not a feeling. We talk about dysregulation as detachment from peace, about why a regulated person can discern between the agitator and the agitated when a dysregulated one can only rebuke everything, about the narratives we have fallen in love with because the work of changing them is simply too much to want to face. We talk about what it costs to get free, and why some of the people in your life are quietly counting on you not to. The free you will not tolerate what the bound you did. Tim said that near the end of our conversation, and it's the kind of sentence that doesn't settle quietly. This episode will not let you stay comfortable with a curated peace. It will ask whether what you're calling maturity is actually avoidance, whether what you're calling faith is cowardice dressed up, and whether you're ready to throw off the outer garment and run. Guest Bio Tim Ross is the host of The Basement podcast, one of the most widely followed voices at the intersection of faith, mental health, and honest human experience. Tim has spent more than 27 years in the work of formation, and his shift from the pews to podcasting has extended his reach to millions. His newest book, The Missing Peace: How to Be Held Together When You're Falling Apart (Thomas Nelson, 2025), is a theology of peace rooted in the person of the Holy Spirit and grounded in the lived reality of nervous system regulation. He lives in Dallas with his wife, Juliette, and their sons Nathan and Noah. Big shake-ups in the primaries last night, Indiana saw several senators who opposed Trump's policies lose their races, and in Ohio, Trump-backed candidates, including Vivek Ramaswamy, picked up wins. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was at the podium yesterday, filling in for Karoline Leavitt (she's out on maternity leave), and got grilled about the war in Iran. Rubio hinted that the end might be in sight, but there are still hurdles to clear. Mark breaks it down for us. Mayor Mamdani is pushing his socialist agenda so hard that it's blocking out any practical talk about how big players like Ken Griffin, who is a billionaire, actually help keep the city afloat with their tax dollars. Mark interviews Boston radio host Howie Carr. Howie's got strong opinions; he thinks Trump shouldn't lift the blockade in Iran. And some sad news: Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, passed away at 87. Mark shares some memories about Turner and the early days of CNN, which launched back in 1980. And speaking of Indiana, those state senators who fought against Trump's redistricting efforts got wiped out in the primaries, a huge win for Team Trump. In New York, Mayor Mamdani seems more like a salesman than a politician lately, raising questions about how that approach is affecting the city. Mark and Howie also talk about JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom, how they might have had a leg up before their big political gigs. Remember when the speed limit got dropped from 75 to 55 mph back in 1979 to save gas? Mark draws a line to today's foreign policy, where the U.S. is blocking the Strait of Hormuz, creating gas lines, and crippling Iran's economy. A reminder: Ted Turner died at 87, and Mark takes a moment to reflect on his legacy. And mark your calendars, May 21st is the last night for Late Night with Stephen Colbert. Actor Charlie Sheen wrote in his book about tuning into Newsmax and realizing their coverage might be more truthful than what you get from networks like MSNOW or CNN. He even drops some names you'll recognize. Maybe there's hope for TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) in Hollywood after all! Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel told Sean Hannity on his podcast about finding a secret room in D.C. stuffed with fake Russian classified documents in burn bags. Out in California, Cedars-Sinai Hospital's Nurse Matthew Shaffer posted something awful on X. He said he was disappointed the latest Trump assassin missed. The hospital responded but chose not to discipline him.

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. US bureau chief Jacob Magid joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. US President Donald Trump says the US will be pausing the operation Project Freedom that it launched on Monday to assist vessels stuck in the Strait of Hormuz due to progress made in talks toward a permanent ceasefire with Iran. Magid parses Trump's Truth Social post announcement and updates us on statements made earlier in the day by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The US-led Board of Peace, the newly formed body tasked with overseeing the postwar management of Gaza, does not intend to hold Israel to the terms of the October 2025 Gaza ceasefire if Hamas does not accept the international panel’s framework for the terror group’s disarmament, a document obtained by Magid shows. We hear the potential implications of this new approach. And finally, we turn to a new report on a recurring issue: The US State Department informed Congress last month that the Palestinian Authority has not ceased making payments to the families of security prisoners and slain attackers, despite reforming, and ostensibly ending, its system of cash transfers awarded in accordance with the amount of time served behind Israeli bars. Magid unravels this knotty issue. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Global Benefits Require Local Listening There is no universal benefits playbook. What matters to an employee in Bangalore — where the daily commute can be a two-hour ordeal — is fundamentally different from what matters to someone in Austin or Cork. Companies with global teams need to engage local employees to understand what's actually meaningful, rather than exporting the US benefits model everywhere. 2. Transportation Is an Underrated Global Benefit In cities like Bangalore and Manila, commuter benefits can have a more meaningful daily impact than gym memberships or wellness stipends. Dave's team is actively exploring cab subsidies and transportation allowances as targeted benefits for teams in markets where commuting is genuinely burdensome. 3. Mental Health Benefits Only Work If Confidentiality Is Real and Communicated On-demand therapy platforms drive adoption when employees genuinely believe their sessions are private. People leaders need to actively and repeatedly communicate that they have zero access to individual usage data — because the fear that HR is watching is a real barrier to utilization, even for platforms that are genuinely confidential. 4. Aggregate Mental Health Data Is a Strategic Signal Even without individual visibility, the top themes surfaced by a mental health platform — stress, burnout, anxiety — give people leaders actionable intelligence about where the organization needs to go deeper. That's qualitative data that should be feeding benefits strategy and manager training. 5. What Candidates Care About Depends on Where They Are in Life Junior employees ask about food and gym benefits. Senior employees want to know about 401(k) match and parental leave. But across every level and every geography, candidates are asking to see the benefits package — and those conversations are happening on par with base salary discussions. 6. Elder Care Is the Next Major Benefits Frontier — and It's Personal for Dave Dave went through the elder care journey for both parents with nothing from his employer to help navigate it. That experience led him to advise an elder care platform and made him one of the most vocal advocates for this benefit category. His message: companies that don't build something here in the next few years will lose the sandwich generation employees who need it most. 7. The Elderly Population Is About to Eclipse the Child Population in the US The demographic shift is imminent. The sandwich generation — employees simultaneously raising children and caring for aging parents — is about to become the dominant workforce cohort. People leaders who are not designing benefits for this reality are already behind. 8. Concierge Benefits Address the Real Cost of Being Away The most relatable benefit Dave wishes he had: someone to handle real-life logistics when you're traveling for work. A fallen tree, a lawn that needs cutting, a home emergency — the mental load of worrying about what's happening at home while you're on the road is a real productivity drain that concierge services can address. 9. HR Needs a Purposeful AI Design — Not a Default One Dave's key insight from Transform 2026: the most important AI conversation in HR isn't about what AI can do — it's about what you want it to do. Mapping capabilities and making deliberate decisions about where AI takes over and where human judgment is protected is the strategic work that separates thoughtful people organizations from reactive ones. CHAPTERS: 00:00 – Introduction Adam welcomes Dave Hanrahan from SolarWinds, fresh off a panel session, and sets up a conversation about global people leadership and benefits. 02:00 – Meet SolarWinds & Dave's Role Dave describes SolarWinds — a B2B IT observability platform — and his role as SVP of People, including joining two weeks before an acquisition and managing a team spanning six countries. 04:30 – Managing a Global Workforce Up Close Why Dave prioritizes getting out to international offices in person, and what you can only understand about site culture when you're actually there. 07:00 – How Benefits Work Around the World A rarely discussed topic: how benefits are structured differently by country, why one-size-fits-all doesn't work globally, and what SolarWinds is learning about meeting employees where they are in each market. 10:00 – Transportation Benefits in Bangalore & Manila The standout benefit conversation: why commuter subsidies matter more than gym memberships for teams in some of the world's most congested cities — and how SolarWinds is working with local teams to figure out the right solution. 13:00 – Mental Health Benefits & the Confidentiality Challenge How SolarWinds approaches global on-demand therapy benefits, why anonymity is the key to adoption, and what aggregate data from the platform tells Dave as a people leader about workforce stress trends. 16:30 – How Benefits Are Priced & Structured A practical breakdown: per-employee session allotments, how utilization is tracked, when the company raises session limits, and how group sessions expand access across the organization. 19:00 – What Candidates Actually Ask About in Total Comp Dave's generational breakdown: junior employees ask about food and gym benefits; senior employees go straight to 401(k) match and parental leave. And across the board, every candidate asks to see the benefits flyer. 22:00 – The Elder Care Gap — Dave's Personal Story Dave's most personal moment in the episode: going through elder care for both parents with zero company support, becoming an advisor to an elder care benefits platform, and why he believes this is the next major benefits frontier. 26:00 – The Sandwich Generation Is Here The data point that stops the conversation: the US elderly population is about to eclipse the child population. Dave and Adam get real about what that means for employees caught in the middle — raising kids while caring for aging parents. 29:30 – Concierge Benefits & the Value of Peace of Mind What Dave wishes he had as an employee traveling for work: concierge services that handle real-life logistics — the lawn, the fallen tree, the home emergency — so employees can focus on the job. 32:00 – Mapping AI to HR: What to Automate, What to Protect Dave's aha moment from Transform 2026: the importance of purposefully mapping which HR functions should become agentic versus where human judgment — on hiring, promotions, compensation, feedback — must be retained. 35:00 – Keeping the Human at the Center Dave's words of optimism: at this conference, HR leaders are pushing back on the narrative that AI should replace human judgment. The energy at Transform is about keeping people at the heart of the most important decisions.

A Peace the World Cannot Give by Fr. Josh Waltz
We live in a world obsessed with predicting the future… and terrified of it.So how do you actually live when everything feels uncertain? In this teaching on Psalm 3, John Ortberg explores one of the most universal human struggles: uncertainty. We don't know what's coming next—and instead of trusting God, we often try to control, predict, or even “gamble” on the future. But Psalm 3 offers a different way. It begins in fear and pressure—real enemies, real anxiety—and moves toward trust, surrender, and confidence in God's presence. This teaching will help you name the “foes” in your life (both internal and external), bring your honest thoughts to God, and discover what it means to live with courage—even when the future is unclear. You'll also be guided to pray the Psalm yourself, learning how to turn anxiety into conversation with God.

Spirituality has become a solo sport—meditation apps, yoga mats, and wellness routines that comfort us while the world burns. Read OnlineJesus' Transforming PeaceJesus said to his disciples: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27There are two types of peace we can enjoy. First, there is worldly peace. This peace is the absence of conflict, war, or external turmoil. Civil governments must work to ensure this peace by protecting their societies from outside aggressors, maintaining order within their communities, and assisting with basic human needs, such as economic development, healthcare, and justice. This form of peace aligns with human reason and is based in the natural law, which is written on the consciences of every person.Though that form of natural peace and justice is good, it is not the highest form of peace we are called to enjoy. The peace that our Lord came to bestow is supernatural, enabling us not only to survive, but to thrive on a moral and spiritual level, even in the absence of worldly peace. Jesus' spiritual gift of peace enables us to find fulfillment in the midst of every external difficulty. If we seek only worldly peace, then any difficulty or disorder will trouble and unsettle our hearts. For that reason, Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” Wars, oppression, crime, poverty, and disease have plagued humanity from the beginning and will persist, in varying degrees, until the end of time. Only when Jesus returns to establish His visible Kingdom as the Universal King will external peace be fully and permanently established. What a glorious day that will be!For now, until the Second Coming, we must learn not only to survive but to thrive within the world. Given the inevitable challenges every human life will encounter, if we want to live in true peace then we must seek out the peace that our Lord promises in today's Gospel. This Gospel comes from Jesus' Last Supper Discourse with His Apostles. As that discourse concludes two chapters later, Jesus prays His High Priestly prayer to the Father: “I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one” (John 17:15). We must live within this fallen world for now, but we do not have to suffer interior afflictions. The evil one has great influence in this world, yet our Lord promises that if we receive His peace, we will be kept safe from the devil's attacks. Though we might suffer some form of external oppression, internally we will be at peace, no matter what we face. The gift of peace that Jesus promises confounds the powers of darkness and is freely given to all who turn to Him and submit to His spiritual governance. The martyrs are the prime example of this interior peace in the midst of exterior persecution. They imitate our Lord, Who permitted the evil one to afflict Him with earthly suffering and death. Jesus confronted that evil with perfect confidence and peace, overcoming it through divine love that won the final victory. In the Eucharist, He continues to share His peace with us, strengthening our hearts against every trial.Reflect today on Jesus' words to His disciples at the Last Supper. At that time, they did not realize they were about to witness Jesus' Passion. Nor did they realize that, in the years to come, they would endure many hardships in their faithful service to God's will. Similarly, if we listen to Jesus' discourse and heed His words, we must embrace them as the Apostles eventually did, once they received the Holy Spirit. We must rely on grace to find courage in the face of life's afflictions—poverty, illness, loss, persecution, and temptation. As you ponder yourself being with the Apostles during this discourse on Holy Thursday, resolve to accept Jesus' promise so that you are spiritually prepared to live in interior peace, no matter the exterior circumstances you might face.Lord of true peace, there are many things in this world that seek to steal my peace. Please give me the confidence I need to always turn to You, no matter what affliction comes my way, so that I will remain in You as You remain in me, enabling me to receive Your all-consuming gift of peace. Over the past decade, she has partnered with leadership teams at public and high-growth companies to build operating models that support distributed work, enable durable growth, and strengthen resilience. At Virta Health, she built and scaled a fully remote organization recognized by Inc. as a Best Place to Work during a period of rapid expansion. At Patreon, she led the team through hypergrowth, M&A integration, and cultural evolution. Earlier in her career at Yahoo, Lucia designed and implemented analytics and decision-making infrastructure across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. She holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior from Stanford GSB and brings a systems-driven approach to how organizations operate and evolve at scale. Takeaways: 1. Honesty Is the Most Underrated Employee Benefit Lucia's diagnosis of broken cultures is blunt: a lack of honesty. In an era defined by uncertainty — AI, economic volatility, global instability — employees want leaders and organizations that will be straight with them. Transparency isn't a communication strategy; it's a cultural foundation. 2. Bring Your Customers Into Your Culture Virta Health keeps honesty alive by bringing its patients — the people receiving its treatment — into all-hands meetings, offsites, and board meetings. It's a radical form of accountability that makes it impossible to lose sight of what the organization is actually for. 3. Remote Done Right Is About Trust, Not Tools Flexibility is a genuine benefit — but only if it comes with trust, clear expectations, and a genuine output-over-hours mentality. Lucia's philosophy: I hired you to do a job from anywhere. Get it done. The moment you start monitoring screen time or sending 3 AM emails, you've broken the contract. 4. Know Your Population Before You Design Your Benefits Virta's benefits strategy starts with a simple question: who are our people and what do they need? Their workforce is majority women in their 30s — so fertility benefits aren't a nice-to- have, they're a core part of the value proposition. Benefits designed without demographic insight don't land. 5. Compensation Comes First — Then Benefits Can Differentiate You cannot win a talent war on benefits alone. Market-rate base, bonus, and long-term incentives have to be in place first. Once they are, benefits become the layer that signals culture and meets employees where they are in their lives. 6. Engagement Is the Proxy Metric for Peace of Mind How do you quantify something as qualitative as peace of mind? Lucia's answer: Track engagement before and after benefits changes. Employees who feel supported show up more connected to the organization. That connection is measurable — and it ties directly to retention and performance. 7. The Attrition Argument Wins the Benefits Budget Conversation When employees are in a high-stakes life phase — fertility, family planning, caregiving — and the company doesn't meet them there, they leave. The cost of replacing them is almost always higher than the cost of the benefit. Lucia builds her ROI case on that math, and it works. 8. AI Is Forcing Leaders to Lead With Meaning As AI automates the transactional parts of management, leaders are left with the one thing AI can't provide: genuine human connection and meaning. Lucia sees this as a cause for optimism — organizations that were coasting on process are now being pushed to actually invest in their people. 9. 3 AM Emails Are a Leadership Failure, Not a Work Ethic Signal Managers who send late-night or weekend messages aren't demonstrating dedication — they're demonstrating poor planning and setting a cultural expectation that others shouldn't have to absorb. If urgency is manufactured, the fix is upstream, not a Sunday Slack message. CHAPTERS: 00:00 – Introduction Adam welcomes Lucia Guillory, CPO at Virta Health, and gets a quick overview of what the company does — including their recent breakthrough linking their treatment to extended survival in pancreatic cancer patients. 02:00 – From Isolation to PhD: How Lucia Got Into People Lucia traces her path into organizational behavior through a personal lens — growing up dyslexic and with ADHD, studying people as a way to understand belonging, and ultimately earning a PhD to drive change in organizations. 05:00 – What's Most Broken in Bad Cultures Lucia's direct answer: a lack of honesty. In a world of tariffs, AI anxiety, and geopolitical turbulence, employees want authenticity and transparency above everything else — and it's rarer than it should be. 07:30 – How Virta Bakes Transparency In Virta's unusual approach to keeping honesty at the forefront: bringing patients (members) into all-hands meetings, offsites, and even board meetings — making it impossible to hide what's working and what isn't. 10:30 – Remote Done Right What it actually means to be a fully remote organization: output over hours, trust over monitoring, flexibility as a genuine benefit, and clear communication as the operating system that holds it all together. 13:30 – The 3 AM Email Problem Lucia's take on managers who send emails at 3 AM or on weekends: it's a leadership failure, not a badge of honor — and employees have to vote with their feet if that's the culture. 16:00 – Total Comp: Where Benefits Fit In You can't win on benefits alone — market compensation has to be there first. But once it is, benefits become the differentiator. Lucia's framework: know your population and design accordingly. 18:30 – Fertility Benefits & Knowing Your Workforce Why Virta chose Carrot as their fertility benefits platform — and how understanding that their workforce is majority women in their 30s made this an obvious, high-impact investment across the full spectrum of family planning. 21:30 – Measuring the ROI of Peace of Mind How do you put a number on peace of mind? Lucia's answer: track engagement. Benefits that reduce stress and meet employees where they are show up directly in engagement scores — and engagement ties to retention and performance. 24:00 – Linking Benefits to Attrition The business case Lucia makes to finance: when employees are in a critical life phase — fertility, family planning, caregiving — failing to meet them there drives attrition. The cost of that attrition is measurable. The cost of the benefit usually isn't. 26:30 – What's Lighting Lucia Up: AI & the Return of Meaning Lucia's optimistic take on the AI moment: as transactional management gets automated away, leaders are being forced to show up with something AI can't provide — meaning, connection, and genuine investment in their people.

Send us Fan MailThis program was previously aired on 12/13/2025GUEST: PASTOR DARRELL HARRISON, Co-Host, Just Thinking PodcastFive times each day the Muslim call to prayer sounds from mosques in Minneapolis. One might expect this in an Islamic country like Saudi Arabia or Iran, but in the United States, a nation that was founded and operated on distinctly Christian principles? The founders likely made the assumption that our nation would be and remain Christian, as early immigrants came from Christian European nations. They probably thought future Americans wouldn't be so foolish as to welcome hundreds of thousands of Muslims. But those with an unbiblical worldview of secular and religious humanism have taken power and hold to the spirit of Babel—that uniting all religions and peoples together will make us good and united. That will not work with Islam and its mission to dominate the world. Europe has puts its very existence at risk in bringing millions of Muslims into its nations and towns and now America is doing the same in Minneapolis, Dearborn, MI, New York City, and elsewhere.Darrell Harrison, shepherding and teaching pastor at Redeemer Bible Church (Gilbert, AZ) and the co-host of the popular Just Thinking Podcast, joins us to explain how Islam is less a religion but rather a political ideology of domination and how Christians should respond.Program Notes:Just Thinking PodcastRedeemer Bible Church (Gilbert, AZ)

What separates the man who drifts through life from the man who sharpens himself into something precise - something intentional, something powerful? In this episode, Kevin breaks from the usual updates and speaks directly to the man who knows he's meant for more. Not more success, not more achievement - but more truth. This is a call to the seeker. A call to the man who feels the quiet misalignment beneath the surface of his life and is ready to confront it.At the center of this conversation is a concept most men believe they already have - but don't: brotherhood. Not friendship. Not networking. Not surface-level accountability. Kevin introduces something far deeper - a satsang: a council of men committed not to validating each other's stories, but to dissolving them. A space where ego is not protected, but revealed. Where blind spots are no longer hidden, but reflected back with precision, compassion, and truth.Because alone, a man will always protect his patterns. He will justify his limitations. He will build a life that makes sense - but doesn't feel right.Inside the right brotherhood, that changes. This episode explores the foundation of that transformation: simplicity, clarity, and peace. Not as abstract ideas, but as both the cause and the result of aligned living. Kevin explains how complexity is not a sign of advancement, but misalignment - and how true clarity doesn't come from outside information, but from removing internal distortion. What remains is a grounded certainty. A self-trust that doesn't depend on circumstance. From there, he introduces the three primary paths every man will walk on the journey toward truth:The Path of Action (Red Team): Discipline, structure, execution. Mastery through doing. A life of precision in movement, habit, and responsibility - until action is no longer driven by identity, but presence. The Path of Devotion (Gold Team): Surrender, trust, and unconditional love. The dissolution of ego through commitment to something greater than oneself. Not emotional comfort - but transformational devotion. The Path of Knowing (Black Team): Deep inquiry and self-realization. The relentless questioning of belief, identity, and perception. A direct path to truth through awareness and observation. These are not roles to perform - but ways of being that unfold over time. And ultimately, every man will move through all three. But this is not just philosophy.Kevin lays out the lived experience of this brotherhood: weekly councils, real-time reflection, accountability, silent retreats, physical challenges, service projects, and immersive gatherings. This is a container where men are seen fully, held to their word, and invited into something far beyond self-improvement - true alignment. The structure is simple: acceptance, accountability, and action. You are accepted immediately. You are held accountable to truth. And from that space, you act - not from force, but from clarity. This episode is an invitation. If it resonates, you'll feel it immediately. If it doesn't, that's okay. But if you've been walking alone - if you've built a life that works but doesn't feel aligned - then this may be the moment you step onto a different path.Because you were never meant to do this alone.

What if the most powerful thing you could do in the middle of conflict is simply be at peace? //The Wire//2300Z April 29, 2026// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: CONFLICT INTENSIFIES IN MALI. STABBING ATTACK STRIKES LONDON. UNITED ARAB EMIRATES DECIDE TO LEAVE OPEC.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events-Middle East: Yesterday the United Arab Emirates announced their intention to withdraw from OPEC, the organization of Oil Producing and Exporting Countries which are responsible for the coordination of oil production throughout the region.Analyst Comment: This is an important development that might be an early indicator of much more serious changes within the petroleum sector. Most of the major oil refineries in the UAE getting smoked by the Iranians was probably the driving factor behind this decision, or rather the last straw for the Emirates, who has been increasingly annoyed with OPEC's quota system over the years. However, since many other nations also saw catastrophic damage to their main source of national income, it is possible that a free-for-all situation might develop over time, whereby OPEC's stability is called into question. In short, the already volatile oil market is likely to stay insane for quite a while.Africa: The situation remains tense in Mali, as multiple different conflicts begin to come to a head. A few days ago, several separate attacks throughout the nation morphed into becoming a larger-scale uprising. Two groups, JNIM and the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA) coordinated to launch major attacks throughout the country, mostly focusing on the capital of Bamako, as well as major military bases in Kati and other major cities. During the attacks, Mali's Defense Minister was killed during an alleged Vehicle-Borne IED attack on his home. Due to the deteriorating security situation, most European nations and the U.S. have recommended either leaving the country as soon as possible or sheltering in place if it's too late to leave.United Kingdom: Two incidents have taken place in Golders Green over the past 24 hours. Yesterday a suspected arson incident was reported at a memorial wall set up for Iranians killed during the war. Separately, a stabbing attack was reported this morning in the same area, which involved a man approaching a bus stop and stabbing people on the street. The man was detained by a Shomrim foot patrol in the area, and a total of two people were wounded during this attack. Hours after the incident, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (HAYI) claimed credit for the attack.Separately, a large-scale police raid was conducted at Webb House in Crewe. This former orphanage had been turned into a migrant hotel, before eventually serving as the headquarters for a new religion, the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light. Over 500 police officers raided the compound this morning, in conjunction with investigations which indicated that this facility was serving as a large-scale human trafficking center, as well as clearing house for slaves, who were reportedly being bought and sold at the facility.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The source material for what's going on in Mali is nearly entirely Russian, as this is Russia's expeditionary fight to protect their interests in the region. However, quite significant events are underway in the Sahel, and the fighting has been widespread over the past few days. For context, after the French and Americans began leaving Mali (or reducing their roles) Russia and China stepped in to control the power vacuum. Nevertheless, the security situation deteriorated anyway, and now al-Qaeda is roaring back to power via splinter groups which have attracted tens of thousands of fighters. The Russian Africa Corp is saying that 12,000 fighters took part in the various attacks throughout the country, but this figure cannot be verified for obvious reasons. Either way, the situation is very hot throughout Mali, and the conflict is likely to intensify if one side gets the upp

Have you ever had a conversation with a loved one go in a completely different direction than what you saw coming? Your intention was there, but the way your loved one received it was nothing in the way you intended it? Our good friend, Jason VanRuler, started to see this pattern in many of the people he had come into therapy. Conversations between people -- where everything was at stake -- and the intentions were there, but someone inevitably walked away feeling hurt, unseen, or even abandoning the relationship altogether. What one person meant isn't what the other person heard. So Jason asked himself, “Why does it sometimes land well, and other times not?”The more research he did, the more he learned predictable patterns that led to 5 primary communication types: Peace, Advocate, Thinking, Harbor, and Spark. Each one with a strength and each one with an opportunity. Not only that, each person has their own primary and secondary type. In this episode, Jason unveils each type, how we develop our own, and how we can better understand how our spouse, kids, and loved ones communicate with us. We get into marital dynamics and why we usually marry someone with similar secondary type, but the trouble that can arise when we realize we don't have the same primary one. We also talk about how knowing the types can help us communicate at a deeper level with our kids. Have you ever felt like you were doing all the right things, checking all the boxes, growing the business, building the brand, showing up every day, and still felt like something was just off? Like there was this low hum of chaos underneath everything no matter how hard you worked? Yeah, me too. And that is exactly where this conversation starts. In this episode, I sat down with one of my favorite humans on the planet, the one and only Rich Christiansen. Rich is a globally recognized thought leader, educator, mentor, and parallel entrepreneur who has co-founded 51 businesses, 16 of which have become multi-million dollar successes, most of them built with $10,000 or less in starting capital. He has done business in over 14 countries, written multiple bestselling books, and created programs like Legato Family that have genuinely changed the trajectory of my own family's life. He is also a husband, father of five sons, a man of deep faith, and someone who walks his talk every single day. Rich has spent decades helping legacy families and high-performing entrepreneurs get out of chaos by getting clear on what they actually stand for, and that is exactly what we get into today. This episode is centered around Rich's values workbook, a practical, deeply personal framework he has been privately using in two-day intensive mentoring sessions for 15 years with some of the most successful people in the world. Now he is making it accessible to everyone, and I cannot think of a more important conversation to have right now. Because here is the truth: most of us think we know our values, but we actually do not. We have borrowed them from our business, our sports team, or our parents, and we have never stopped to do the real work of figuring out what we actually stand for. That gap is costing us peace, costing us relationships, and costing us way more than we realize. Here are the key takeaways from this episode that I think every Happy Hustler needs to sit with: The first is that identifying your real values is the foundation of everything. Rich walks through all eight components of his values workbook in this episode, and it starts with uncovering your true core values, not the ones you borrowed from somewhere else, but the ones that are genuinely yours. He uses seven generation thinking, looking back at the wisdom of your ancestors and forward to what you want to leave for your great-grandchildren, to help you find what you actually stand for. Most people skip this step entirely and wonder why they feel so scattered. The second is that your trash can values matter just as much as your core ones. Rich opens up about his own journey of identifying and eliminating guilt, shame, and scarcity from his life, values he inherited but never chose. He shares a beautiful story about his 240-pound son grabbing him by the shoulders during a game of pool after Rich muttered something self-critical, and reminding him that those are not the values they agreed to live by. That story hit me hard, and I think it will hit you too. The third is that you have to emotionalize your values or they will never stick. Rich talks about naming your values in a way that fires something up inside you. Not boring corporate words like integrity or hard work, but names like hope gripper, or work win waddle, names that carry meaning and create an inside language between the people in your world. This is how culture gets built in a family or a business, through that inside emotional connection. The fourth is that your values become the mediator in every hard conversation. Instead of pointing the finger at another person when conflict shows up, you point to the shared value and have the conversation from there. Rich calls this the ligament in the relationship, and once you hear him explain it, you will never want to have a hard conversation any other way again. The fifth is one that shook me: most of us are giving 60 to 80 percent of our best energy to the outermost circle of our lives, the contacts, the followers, the people scrolling past our posts, and only 5 to 10 percent to the blood brothers and sisters who would actually show up for us at 2 in the morning. Rich challenges you to flip that, to protect your inner circle like it is sacred, because it is. I want to leave you with something Rich said near the end of this conversation that I have not been able to stop thinking about. He talked about a billionaire who sat across from him and wept, not because of money problems or business failures, but because he had 10,000 people he could call and not one who loved his soul enough to give him a kidney without expecting something in return. That is the kind of wake-up call this episode delivers. If you have been running hard, building fast, and feeling a little hollow underneath it all, this is the episode for you. Rich is the real deal and this conversation will stick with you long after it ends. Go listen to the full episode at https://caryjack.com/podcastin/ and if this one resonated with you, share it with someone who is grinding away but has not done this inner work yet. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for someone is hand them the mirror. That is Happy Hustlin'. What does Happy Hustlin' mean to you? Balance doing it properly. Yeah, go get it, but doing it in a fun, playful, appropriate way. Stop the green. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Mideast and Russia expert Ksenia Svetlova joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Former MK Svetlova is the executive director of ROPES (Regional Organization for Peace, Economics & Security) and a senior non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council. We open the program with an exploration of Iran's historic and current ties with Russia, after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met yesterday with President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Svetlova explores Russia's influence in the region -- specifically its direct ties to Hezbollah -- and assesses how much leverage Moscow may have in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States. In the second half of the program, we focus on Israel's relations with Arab Gulf states in the wake of the war in Iran. We hear how Israel deployed troops and the Iron Dome to its Abraham Accord partner, the United Arab Emirates. She discusses how the region is at a crossroads and the Gulf states are pragmatically discussing whether to deepen ties with Iran, or, potentially, with Israel. Today’s Bible Verse: “Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’” — John 20:21 John 20:21 captures a powerful post-resurrection moment. Jesus appears to His disciples—who are fearful and uncertain—and speaks peace over them. But He doesn’t stop there. He immediately connects that peace to purpose: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Want to listen without ads?
