All hands on deck! Does that make sense for this episode? All decks on hand maybe? Either way, it's Vegas time! As the League heads to the Vegas strip to stop the maniacal Joker from wrecking havok all over the city that never sleeps! It's an all out evening of mayhem as Joker has hid 25 bombs around the city, and he challenges the League to find them all in time while he televises the whole event! But it's not that simple, as he also introduces his new team, the Royal Flush Gang, to intercept and delay them from finishing the task. The Royal Flush Gang prove they're more than just a poker hand, as they go toe to toe with our team, and get the "upper hand", yeah I went there, on them! It takes they youngest member of the gang to change her mind about trusting the Joker, as she turns the tables on him, allowing the League to regain control. This week on the Major Issues Podcast, Spooky Season continues as the hosts dive into DCeased — DC Comics' apocalyptic six-issue series from Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, and Stefano Gaudiano. When a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation infects Earth through social media, the world's greatest heroes and villains are turned into mindless, murderous versions of themselves. As Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, and the rest of the Justice League struggle to save what's left of humanity, the question becomes: can even gods survive the end of the world? Join the discussion as the hosts break down the horror, heart, and heroism that make DCeased one of DC's most shocking and emotional Elseworld tales. There's something very wrong with Plastic Man! Eel O'Brian might be a superhero now — but before he was anything else, he was a crook. Until the accident that turned him into the pliable Plastic Man, Eel was bad to the bone… and just because he no longer has bones doesn't mean that's not still true. When an incident on a Justice League mission leads to catastrophic cellular damage, Plastic Man discovers he just might be out of time to make amends for the past he's tried hard to outrun — or to save the soul of his son, who (unfortunately for him) might have inherited more from dear old Dad than just his superpowers… News 00:40 Plastic Man No More! 6:53 Back Matter Matters 37:57 The Pull-List 41:58 Linktr.ee/tradewaiters Follow Us!

The death of Superman. Lobo joins the Justice League. Plus, an unlikely team-up in the future. What a great set of episodes! A team of Rogues, who all hate Superman team up to take him out. Toy Man, Livewire, Weather Wizard, Kalibak, and Metallo work together to attract Superman to the Daily Planet. But the whole League shows up. It is not going well for them until Toy Man uses his robot and power ray to threaten Batman & Wonder Woman. Superman takes the hit and is seemingly vaporized! The League, the planet and the galaxy mourn the death of Superman. But Batman does not believe he is dead. With Superman gone, all the villains come out to take over. Lobo shows up and wants to take Superman's place. The League reluctantly takes him with them as they go after the villains. But Superman is not dead! He has been transported thousands of years in the future. The planet is a wasteland, and the sun is red. He has no powers, so he must use his brain and normal human strength and skills to survive. Following a connection on his coms, he makes his way to the Justice League signal source which turns out to be the crashed remains of the Watchtower. Vandal Savage is the only human being alive still. Walking the ravaged Earth on his own for thousands of years. His weapon of gravity caused mass destruction and changed the physics of the solar system, wiping out humankind! And this all happened days after Superman's death! For penance, he decided to stay behind, alone on Earth, even though he was able to build a space craft to take him out into the galaxy. When he sees that Superman is somehow here, after following the coms signal he picked up, he goes to meet the man he once tried to kill. Superman discovers that Savage also built a time machine, and thinks he's found his way home, but unfortunately it needs more power than they have to make it work. Together they must go and steal a known power source that would suffice from a colony of mutated cockroaches. This energy just happens to be a powerful source of radiation, like a miniature sun, that gives Superman back is abilities, allowing them to succeed. Vandal fills Superman in on exactly what he did to destroy the world and what he must do to stop him, so once the time machine is up and running, Superman returns and saves Batman from a fatal shot fired from above. They rejoice in his return, but his work isn't done. He must find the Savage of this time and stop him at all costs. We then see the future one more time, as the world is rebuilt in it's new timeline, and Savage slowly fades away... It's the last episode of the season! Rj Is going to close us out with one last Ostrander and Madrake pick, Martian Manhunter: Sun of Mars. We had a lot of fun with this one. We get to take a much deeper dive into an otherwise overlooked member of the Justice League. We talk about the origin of J'onn J'onzz, his unique powersets, and his many secret identities. We even go down a few of the tell-tale comic book rabbit holes about comic book character deaths and personal lives. In our latest DC spolight, Jace and Rocky run through a busy October 1 slate while previewing NYCC plans for panel live-tweets and interviews if Jace can make it to the show plus industry buzz from Vertigo and big Marvel/DC crossover whispers. The kick things off by breaking down the current Batman era's tone and art, while debating Gotham's law-and-order vibe as it compares to real-world events currently. Gotham Academy: First Year is Jace's first exposure to the property and Ricky get a “Wednesday-esque” feel from it, the Justice League: Omega Act Special is a perfect jumping on point into the next big event, DC K.O. and sums up everything happpening in DC over that last year. Poison Ivy's run earns kudos for layered, flawed character work. Cassandra Cain's globe-trotting martial-arts arc sparks a deep dive on DC's fight-lore and works for Rocky while Jace is still underwhelmed, while Absolute Green Lantern's dense worldbuilding is best enjoyed as fresh space opera rather than familiar Lantern canon. A slick heist setup in Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Justice League shines for character moments, while Absolute Superman spotlights Kal's evolving bond with Sol, his AI guardian and and also Kal's Smallville ties, Adventures of Superman: Book of El builds future-era intrigue, the Zatanna Panic Halloween anthology offers bite-size spooky detours to celebrate Halloween, and JSA reaches a long-awaited finale. As always Jace gives a rundown of collected editions out this week also and the guys wrap things up with their weekly rankings of all the DC titles they've read.

This lecture looks at the evolution of Guantánamo Bay, first as a focal point of Haitian immigration in 1991 (Gitmo 1.0), to the more famous detention of terror suspects in 2002 (Gitmo 2.0), and back to immigration in 2025. We will explore how Gitmo 3.0 is probably already over, and how we were able to head it off so quickly through legal challenges. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said the U.S. is “actively searching” for countries to accept migrants deported from the U.S., with both El Salvador and Rwanda under consideration. We will discuss how lessons from legal action around Guantánamo Bay might translate to other settings. This lecture was recorded by Clive Stafford Smith on 18th September 2025 at Barnard's Inn Hall, London.Clive is the Gresham Professor of LawHe is the founder and director of the Justice League a non-profit human rights training centre focused on fostering the next generation of advocates. The Justice League verses the Secret Society, who will win? The group that works together the best. Gorilla Grodd has gathered The Shade, Giganta, Killer Frost, Sinestro, and Clayface. Grodd has been working his mental control abilities on the League for months, messing with their emotions and making them feel stressed around each other. Watching the cracks form, he takes his Society and attacks when they're vulnerable, proving they can be beaten. He is not content to let them walk away privately. He wants to end them publicly. So, he sets a trap and captures all of them except Green Lantern. John, in tracking them back to the cave, tries to step in to free his team, and puts up a good fight, but is ultimately captured. At a Gotham Knights football game half-time show, the Society crashes the party. They are going to publicly execute the League. But Martian Manhunter has been impersonating Clayface. He frees the team and they finally begin to work together and cover for each other. They defeat the Society and agree to apologize to each other and move on together...or so it seems. Joshua Noel and TJ Blackwell dive into the epic showdown of "Marvel vs Godzilla" and "Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong," dissecting which universe brings the heat when it comes to giant monsters. They kick things off by comparing the 2023 DC crossover, which features a chaotic clash between the Justice League and Godzilla, to the 2025 Marvel series, where Godzilla stomps through classic superhero narratives. With a mix of witty banter and insightful commentary, they highlight how each franchise approaches the legendary Kaiju, exploring themes of power, responsibility, and the ever-entertaining spectacle of colossal battles. As they navigate through the stories, they reflect on character development, plot cohesion, and the nostalgic charm of both universes, providing listeners with a comprehensive and entertaining breakdown of these monster mash-ups. The former is described as an anthology of fun, where Godzilla disrupts familiar superhero narratives, making for some hilarious and chaotic showdowns. The latter, however, offers a deeper storyline with the Justice League grappling with Godzilla's rampage while tackling their own dilemmas, all under the shadow of Lex Luthor's manipulations. The banter between the hosts is just as engaging as the content, with witty exchanges and light-hearted jabs that keep the conversation lively and entertaining, making for a relaxed yet insightful exploration of these two universes.Takeaways: Joshua and TJ dive deep into the epic clash of titans, comparing Marvel's Godzilla to DC's Justice League versus Godzilla and Kong, exploring unique storytelling elements. Aquaman, Dr. Fate, and Solomon Grundy are a very unlikely team, and they have come together to help close a portal that threatens Earth. Never fear, the Justice League is here, trying to... stop them? They are trying to protect Grundy, but don't understand the full nature of the problem, and Aquaman is not making it easy for them. After a battle in Fate's tower and around the world, they get the full answers. Aquaman returns to the sea to fight there, and the rest of the group goes to Ichthultu's dimension to fight him and the elder gods. Ichthultu was worshiped by the people of Thanagar until they lost faith in him. The battle causes Hawkgirl to question her lack of faith after seeing Ichthultu is real. Those around her have faith, and it inspires her. In the end, it is only by Grundy's faith and power that defeat Ichthultu. Grundy sacrifices his life to stop Ichthultu, and it leaves Hawkgirl broken. Andrew Gordon & Tara Erickson react to The Flash (2023), the DCEU's highly anticipated sci-fi action blockbuster directed by Andy Muschietti (It, Mama). Ezra Miller (Fantastic Beasts, Perks of Being a Wallflower) stars as Barry Allen aka The Flash, who uses his speed to travel back in time to prevent his mother's murder—only to unravel the multiverse and trigger dangerous consequences. The film features Michael Keaton (Batman 1989, Birdman) returning as Bruce Wayne / Batman in an iconic comeback, alongside Ben Affleck (Justice League, Argo) reprising his version of the Dark Knight. Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless) makes her debut as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, bringing fresh energy to the Superman legacy. Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Take Shelter) returns as General Zod in a fierce showdown, joined by Antje Traue (Man of Steel) as Faora-Ul. Kiersey Clemons (Dope, Zack Snyder's Justice League) plays Iris West, Barry's love interest, while Maribel Verdú (Y Tu Mamá También) portrays Nora Allen, and Ron Livingston (Office Space) takes on the role of Henry Allen. Standout and highly searched moments include The Flash's multiverse collisions, Michael Keaton's return with the legendary line “I'm Batman,” the epic Supergirl vs. Zod battles, emotional family reunions between Barry and his parents, and shocking multiverse cameos that thrilled DC fans. Combining time travel, heart, and jaw-dropping superhero spectacle, The Flash stands as both a tribute to the DCEU and a love letter to DC history. Welcome back to Mostly Superheroes the Podcast. This week, we are dropping in with a special episode recorded live at the 2 Rivers Comic Con this past April 2025. I had the incredible opportunity to moderate a panel featuring the legendary voice actor Phil LaMarr. If you've ever watched a cartoon, you know his work. We're talking about the man behind characters like Hermes Conrad from Futurama, John Stewart/Green Lantern from Justice League, Static from Static Shock, and Samurai Jack. It was a true honor, and I'm excited to share the conversation with all of you. Don't forget to look for us at the 2026 2 Rivers Comic Con in St. Charles, Missouri. Find out more at 2riverscomicon.com and mostlysuperheroes.com. Enjoy the episode. Listen to The Big 550 KTRS with James Enstall on It's All Geek To Me every Sunday at 9pm CT to hear about his upcoming 2 Rivers Comic Con in 2026!
In this candid second half of our talk, Greg Rucka opens up about why he walked away from DC Comics during earlier eras, and how those frustrations with co-writers and editors caused him to have serious personal issues and leave in digust to focus on creator owned projects. But it's not all doom and gloom — Greg is genuinely excited about his latest DC work, the upcoming Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League, with his usual collaborator Nicola Scott. Greg makes it clear how much better the current editorial regime feels, compared to the past.We also dive into Greg's prose side, where he's just finished a brand-new Atticus Kodiak novel ready to hit publishers, and he teases the possibility of new Queen & Country stories on the horizon. He addresses the current state of the book market. On top of that,Greg shares fresh updates on Lazarus, his long-running Image Comics series with Michael Lark, and reflects on how that world continues to devolve. It's a mix of hard truths, exciting projects, and the kind of thoughtful perspective you only get from a creator like Greg Rucka and a show like Word Balloon
