My Easy Fall Morning Routine To Make More Progesterone & Regulate My Nervous System | E291

Fall is coming, and with it, that itch to overhaul your whole routine. Please don't.That urge to overhaul everything hits me too every single fall. New routine, new rules, a five-step morning ritual that looks great written down and lasts about two days before real life shows up and knocks it sideways.I'm skipping all that this year. Instead, I'm sharing the exact non-negotiables that have stuck for me, the ones actually making a difference in my nervous system and my progesterone, without turning my mornings into a performance. This episode is me literally walking outside with my glasses in my hand, recording on a 6:30 am walk, because I wanted to show you a hormone-supportive morning doesn't require a silent home office and an extra hour you don't have. Here's what we're getting into:The one free thing I do every single morning that touches cortisol, blood sugar, and hormones all at onceWhy my breakfast is not always "picture perfect" and what I actually drink most mornings to hit my protein goals fastThe slightly ridiculous lymphatic movement I learned on Instagram that I now do in my backyard, kids watchingWhat I'm doing on purpose to protect my sleep, even on the nights everything falls apartWhy skipping my 6 am workout class is sometimes the smartest thing I do all weekThe mindset shift that finally got me out of the all-or-nothing routine trapIf you've ever built yourself a pretty little morning checklist, color coded and full of hope, and then quietly abandoned it by day three, this one is for you.A morning routine that supports your hormones isn't a matter of doing more. Your body is listening for one very specific message first thing in the morning, and that message is safety. When your nervous system reads a room as safe, that's your body's green light to make progesterone, keep estrogen in check, and hand you the steady mood and energy you've been chasing all year. That safety signal doesn't come from a perfect list. It comes from a handful of consistent things, done imperfectly, again and again. For me that starts with morning sunlight. I bring this up constantly on the podcast because it really is the top non-negotiable, and it costs nothing, which I love pointing out. Early morning light hits your eyes in a way your kitchen lights and your phone screen simply can't fake. It tells your body it's daytime in the language your biology actually understands, and that one signal ripples out into your cortisol, your blood sugar, and your hormones. Then there's breakfast, which you've heard me talk about more times than you can count because it genuinely changes everything. Some mornings that's a real plate of food. Other mornings, especially in a high-stress season when my appetite has vanished, it's a protein hot chocolate made in my countertop frother while I plan a real breakfast for later. I walk through exactly what that looks like in the episode, because so many of us carry this quiet belief that if we can't do it perfectly, we shouldn't bother at all. That belief is exactly what keeps you stuck.I also get into the small movement practice I do most mornings to get my lymph and fascia moving after a night of stillness, and why I'm being so intentional right now about protecting sleep on both ends of the day, even when that means skipping a workout I genuinely wanted to go to.If you're in a season where you feel like you're doing everything right and your body still isn't cooperating, or if you've built routine after routine that never actually sticks, this episode might land differently for you. Less about adding one more thing. More about getting honest about what actually matters and letting the rest go.I also want to name something I see constantly with the women I work with, and honestly with myself too. This paralyzing sense that healing your hormones has to be complicated, specific, and nearly flawless to count for anything. That belief works against you every time. Overwhelm and fear aren't neutral background noise. They're stress signals your body reacts to, and stress sits right in the middle of the road between you and the hormone balance you're working so hard for.So this episode is my invitation to simplify. Not to add another list to your already overflowing plate, but to get really clear on the small handful of things that move the needle for your body, and to let everything else be optional.Next time you catch yourself scrolling for the "perfect" morning routine at 11 pm, remember this episode instead. The version of you six months from now, the one with more energy and steadier moods, is built by the boring, repeatable stuff, not the Pinterest-worthy version you never actually do.MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:PMS to Peace Private PodcastFix Your Breakfast, Fix Your Hormones Equip ProteinNEED HELP FIXING YOUR HORMONES? On this solo episode, Travis breaks down how to design a realistic, sustainable morning routine that actually supports your energy, focus, and productivity instead of becoming a four-hour checklist you feel guilty about skipping. Drawing from years of experimenting with different habits, he shares what truly moves the needle—especially if you're a self-described night person who wakes up feeling behind. On this episode we talk about: Why over-engineered, four-hour morning routines can hurt your day more than help it. The core pillars of an effective routine: hydration, sunlight, and movement. Practical ways to move your body in the morning without being a “gym rat.” How journaling, meditation, and even cold showers or sauna can support your mental state. The importance of starting with just one habit and sometimes skipping everything to do your most important work first. Top 3 Takeaways An effective morning routine should change your state, not become a rigid box-checking exercise that makes you feel behind or guilty when life happens. Simple habits like electrolytes and water, getting 15–20 minutes of sunlight, moving your body, and staying off your phone can dramatically improve focus, mood, and sleep. Start with one habit that makes other habits easier—like waking up at a consistent time—and build from there while remembering that sometimes the best move is to wake up and do your most important work first. Notable Quotes "You do not want to have a crazy four-hour long morning routine. It can actually be more detrimental to your day than not having a morning routine at all." "The entire goal here is not to check boxes. The entire goal is to set yourself up to be in a state that allows you to have a productive and positive day." "Start with one thing, and make that one thing the thing that makes other things easier once you've accomplished the first thing on the list." It's free and it only gets better as the year progresses.  In January we began with God at the center of our day and our home. We worked to build the habit of a morning prayer routine. I highly recommend the rosary. It's only about 20 minutes and you'll meditate on the whole life of Jesus. February is the month of decluttering. Saturday episodes have been added to focus on decluttering in the kitchen. Each month will have a different focus area and the Saturday episodes will help you focus on one small section of that room.  In March we decluttered your wardrobe. In April we are moving into budgeting for food. Our Saturday episodes will still be about decluttering. Our declutter focus area for April is your bedroom. In May we dreamed big! June brings us to one of the most useful topics in my group coaching course…meal planning. Ah, the feel of knowing exactly what's for dinner is the most stress-free feeling in the world! Our declutter focus area for June is Hallways/Landings. July is a much anticipated month of money/budgeting. Our Saturday episodes (otherwise known as the declutter episodes) will focus on decluttering TOYS! August is the month that brings it all together. Routines and Rhythms. Joel Bein helps entrepreneurs find and clear the subconscious beliefs behind self-doubt, stress, overworking and procrastination. In this conversation he explains what a limiting belief actually is, why most of them get wired in during childhood, and how they quietly shape your thoughts, emotions and results without you noticing. He also shares the question he uses to surface a belief: what would I have to believe for me to be experiencing this? From there he walks through the Santa Claus effect, the moment you realize you never had proof for the story in the first place, and why a belief that drops that way does not come back.We also get into his morning routine, which he has been refining for 10 to 12 years: bed made, big glass of water, five minutes of meditation, sunlight and movement outside, journaling and a walk, then creative deep work. Ryan compares notes, including his eye ice pack experiment that his kids think is nuts.Take the ideas from this show and put them to work. My Daily Anchors: A Morning Routine for Peace in Busy Seasons What keeps you grounded when every day looks different? As a mom, entrepreneur, and homeschooler, I've learned that I don't need a perfectly structured morning routine—I need a few simple anchors I can return to when life gets busy. In this episode of The Classy Career Girl Podcast, I'm sharing the daily practices that help me stay rooted in my faith, focused on my priorities, and present with my family. I'm taking you behind the scenes of my real morning routine, including: • How I start my day even when I don't have time to sit quietly • The three journaling questions that help me clear my head • How I create my daily priority list without expecting myself to finish everything • Why I sometimes use ChatGPT to organize my brain dumps and to-do lists • The simple nutrition and strength-training habits I'm working on • How I move from quiet morning time into the reality of homeschooling, work, chores, and family life • Why I focus on consistent anchors instead of a rigid schedule The biggest lesson I've learned is that a peaceful life doesn't come from controlling every hour of your day. Some days are still messy. Some mornings don't go according to plan. And I definitely don't accomplish everything on my list. But having a few familiar practices to come back to helps me reset, refocus, and remember what matters most. If you're a busy mom trying to balance your faith, family, work, health, and everything else on your plate, this episode is your reminder: you don't need a perfect routine. You just need a few anchors that bring you back to what matters.

As we move into mid-career and the halftime of life, many of the routines that once shaped our days begin to change. The demands of raising a family lessen, careers evolve or completely change, and new opportunities—and responsibilities—emerge. Instead of having every hour spoken for, we suddenly have more choices about how to spend our time. That freedom is a tremendous gift, but it also requires intentionality. If we don't design our lives around what matters most, it's easy to fill our calendars with activity while neglecting our deeper purpose. What started with a Craigslist ad and a love of food turned into one of Arizona's most recognizable independent burger spots. In Episode 224 of On The Delo, Delo sits down with Bret Shapiro, Chef/Owner of Paradise Valley Burger Company, to talk about 15+ years of PV Burger, the realities of restaurant ownership, and why Bret has never been interested in following the traditional growth playbook.Bret shares the story behind taking over the original restaurant, building a loyal crew and customer base, and eventually moving PV Burger from its longtime 40th Street and Bell Road location to Scottsdale. They get into staying independent, using his own capital to grow, keeping restaurant footprints small, navigating rising costs, and the advice Bret has followed from the beginning: if something has to change, raise the price before you lower the quality.Of course, they talk burgers too—from the story behind the Burger Brulee and Paradise Burger to the TV appearances that put PV Burger in front of a national audience, including Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Man v. Food, Guy's Grocery Games, and Check, Please! Bret also shares what's next, his early-morning routine, and why after 15 years in business, consistency still matters more than hype.Chapter Guide (Timestamps)(0:00 - 3:24) Welcome, Meeting Bret Shapiro, and the PV Burger Office Story(3:24 - 7:23) Origin Story: From Music to Food and a Craigslist Ad That Changed Everything(7:23 - 11:10) Losing the Lease at 40th and Bell and the Overnight Move to Scottsdale(11:10 - 14:21) Taking Care of the Crew and Whether Chefs Make Good Business Owners(14:21 - 18:03) Staying Independent, Lease Advice, and Reading Today's Arizona Market(18:03 - 20:39) Footprint, Dine-In vs. Takeout Shift, and Learning From Deluxe Burger(20:39 - 25:06) Fries, Jalapeno Ranch, and the Stories Behind the Burger Brulee and Paradise Burger(25:06 - 28:02) Life on TV: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, Man v. One of the more common mistakes people make as they progress in anxiety disorder recovery is treating recovery as something separate from the rest of their lives. You do the therapy work in one box, and everything else goes in another. That tends to backfire. In this episode I want to introduce the concept of relapse prevention, and I want to do it in the context of building a daily routine that keeps you connected to the strategies and principles that helped you make progress in the first place.--Want to talk about what you heard in this episode? I'm hanging out in the Disordered Community Space:https://disordered.fm/community--This is not a magic morning routine. I'm not going to promise you'll be unrecognizable in six weeks or that you'll never have a setback. What I will say is that people who build consistent habits around these practices do tend to fare better when life gets hard again, and life always does. The old pathways never get deleted. They just get unused for a while. So it's worth building habits that make it harder to accidentally fall back into them.I walk through a four-pillar framework for building that kind of routine: attention and mindfulness practice, physical movement, emotional expression, and what I'm calling exploration, which is the part where you stay connected to the things that actually matter to you and feed something other than your anxiety.I also talk about the trap of feeling good, because feeling good is exactly when a lot of people start quietly abandoning the habits that got them there. And I have a word for the internet, which tends to ruin this kind of thing with aesthetics, comparison, and influencer nonsense. For full show notes on this episode:https://theanxioustruth.com/349Send in a question or comment via text.Support The Anxious Truth: If you find the podcast helpful and want to support my work, you can buy me a coffee.   Other ways to support my work like buying a book or signing up for a low cost workshop can be found on my website.  None of this is never required, but always appreciated! This is a behind-the-scenes bonus episode — a real, unedited session from inside my coaching programme, where I take a group of high-performing men through the one habit that I believe is responsible for 90% of their success. The morning routine. Not the surface-level version. Not the Instagram version. The world-class version — and the five qualities that separate the men who are doing it at a 4 from the men doing it at a 10. In this session we cover: •Why pressing snooze is not just about sleep — it is the attitude you are setting for your entire life •The five qualities of a world-class morning routine: attention to detail, consistency, ownership, non-negotiable standards, and obsession with fundamentals •The five non-negotiables that fit your time, energy, and focus framework: control your state of mind, move your body, protect your focus, connect with your mission, and lead your day •Why the morning routine is as important as your marriage — and what happens when you treat it that way •The "empty pockets" analogy — how movement shakes out the overthinking, the fear, and the toxic noise •Why looking at your phone in the first hour of the day is like running a marathon without warming up •The invisible accountability partner: if your coach was watching you right now, what would he score you? •Why the morning is your only real window to connect with your mission — and why you will never find that bandwidth during the working day This is what real transformation looks like. Not a highlight reel. Men doing the work, being challenged, and raising their standard. Send us Fan MailYour PMDD brain can wake up already searching for danger and by breakfast it has built a full case against your relationship. We walk through the psychology behind a PMDD partner's morning routine designed to interrupt that pattern early, especially in the luteal phase when sensitivity, cortisol reactivity, anxiety, and irritability can spike. We start with a mindset shift that changes everything: the goal is not productivity. We're not chasing a “5 a.m. hustle” identity. We're building intention and lowering cognitive overload so our nervous system has fewer triggers and fewer decisions to fight through. We explain why snoozing can backfire through fragmented sleep cycles, and how setting out workout clothes the night before removes avoidance and makes the next right step automatic. From there, we get practical and specific: a simple outdoor walk (yes, even just “one foot in front of the other”) for circadian rhythm support, serotonin, and fewer looping intrusive thoughts. We talk about habit stacking with headphones, why social media and bad news can feed PMDD's negative bias, and how the reticular activating system starts “proving” your partner is the enemy if you let it. You'll also hear why hydration matters after night sweats, how 30 minutes of movement reduces PMDD rage and cravings, and how a calm shower with spa music becomes a downshift that signals safety. We close with tools that create psychological distance and emotional safety: prayer and a short Bible reading, journaling to separate feelings from facts, and then connecting with your partner after you're regulated, not before. If this helps, subscribe, share it with someone navigating PMDD, and leave a review so more couples can find these tools.

Some of the most powerful medicine you'll ever take doesn't come from a pharmacy. It's the first hour of your day. In this solo episode, Jen walks you through her real morning routine after breast cancer. Not the highlight reel, the actual one. From the moment her feet hit the floor to the moment she sits down to work, every habit earned its spot, and Jen shares the research behind each one. You'll hear why she gets sunlight first thing, what goes in her smoothie and why prunes made the list, the reason she walks right after she eats, and the breathwork she never skips. Take what serves you and leave the rest. There's no gold star for doing it all. Pick one habit and start there. In this episode: Why how you wake up sets the frame for your whole day Morning sunlight and its link to cortisol, sleep, and mood Why moving slow calms your nervous system The plastic free swap that lowers your daily toxic load Red light therapy and collagen after estrogen loss The research on gratitude journaling, including a study in breast cancer survivors What's in Jen's smoothie, and why prunes support bone health The gut as your "second brain" How a 10 minute walk after eating supports blood sugar Movement for bone strength, plus breathwork to come back to center Links and resources: Simply Good Coffee (plastic free coffee maker, discount inside): Get it HERE Jen's red light panel: Use Code: jendelvaux to save  CoreFlow waitlist: JOIN HERE Free Not Today Cancer community: Request to join here Find Jen on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jendelvaux/ Loved this episode? Do you feel like having a morning routine is impossible because your kids wake up early...or the second you try to get out of bed? In this episode, I'm sharing how to create a realistic morning routine that actually works in motherhood. You'll learn how to choose a few simple morning anchors, create full, interrupted, and survival versions of your routine, prepare the night before, and find small pockets of time even when your children are already awake. This is not about waking up at 4:30 a.m. or following a long, perfect checklist. It is about building a flexible rhythm that helps you feel grounded, cared for, and more prepared for the day ahead. And if your child's early wake-ups are becoming a consistent sleep problem, I'll also share when it may be time to look more closely at their schedule, naps, bedtime, and overnight sleep.   Book your sleep clarity call here: mamamatterstoo.com/call   Instagram (feel free to dm me anytime!): instagram.com/mama.matters.too   FREE GUIDE: Why Your Baby Is Waking Every 2–3 Hours (And What To Fix First) https://mamamatterstoo.myflodesk.com/933cc9a3-a8b9-45ae-b201-a9a41289574e   Join the Facebook group! https://www.facebook.com/groups/mamamatterstoo/

If you have ever tried the 5 AM Club or the Miracle Morning and felt like you failed at it, this episode is going to feel like a deep breath. So many of us have downloaded the perfect morning routine, set the early alarm, committed to the exact sequence of activities, and then watched the whole thing fall apart within a week. And when it falls apart, we do not blame the routine. We blame ourselves. In this episode, I am breaking down the 5 AM Club, where it came from, and the one detail about the person who created it that changes how you should think about the entire approach. I looked into the research, the formula, and the man behind the book, and what I found is something almost nobody talks about when they are handing out morning routine advice. If you have ever wondered why these expert routines work beautifully for some people and feel impossible for you, this is the conversation you have been waiting for. What You'll Learn:What the 5 AM Club actually is, including the exact formula it is built on and where it came fromThe one thing about the creator of this routine that should change how you evaluate any productivity adviceThe piece of the morning routine conversation that almost no expert is willing to talk aboutWhat a morning routine is really supposed to do for you, and why it has nothing to do with how productive your day isMentioned in the Episode:Learn my step-by-step process for building a morning routine around your real life and personality, not someone else's in Master Your Morning: www.megansumrell.com/morningThe FREE Master Your Morning Event is Back!Join me July 20 - 24 to discover YOUR perfect morning routine.☀️ www.megansumrell.com/morning________________________________

Most energy drinks trade your long-term health for a short-term jolt. This episode breaks down a smarter approach to energy, one that builds mitochondria function, supports gut health, stabilizes mood, and helps you sleep better at night, all without the crash -Get 15% off your next order at: https://getmte.com/dave Host Dave Asprey sits down with Jeff Boyd, founder and chairman of MTE (More Than Energy), the caffeine-free energy drink built around adaptogens, nootropics, and prebiotics that delivers what Boyd calls "energy that loves you back." Before launching MTE, Jeff spent 15 years as President and co-owner of Luggage Free, scaling the company to operations in over 100 countries before selling it in 2019. He brings the operational discipline of a veteran entrepreneur and the personal conviction of someone who built the energy product he actually wanted to exist. Dave and Jeff get into the full science and strategy behind MTE's ingredient stack, including paraxanthine, ashwagandha, eleuthero, maca, GABA, theanine, and saffron, and why each one was chosen for its role in stress response, brain optimization, and sleep optimization. They also dig into the formulation challenges of building a clean-label supplement over a stimulant base, the real difference between caffeine and its downstream metabolite paraxanthine, and why this blend functions more like a foundational biohacking protocol than a beverage. You'll Learn: Why conventional energy drinks wreck your cortisol curve and what to do instead How paraxanthine delivers the benefits of caffeine without the jitters or sleep disruption The adaptogen trio (ashwagandha, eleuthero, and maca) and how they work together for stress response and human performance Why saffron is one of the most underrated nootropics for mood and brain optimization How gut health and the microbiome connect directly to your energy, metabolism, and longevity The mitochondria connection between willpower, physical performance, and entrepreneurial output How AI is reshaping small teams and what founders need to do right now to stay competitive Why the cleanest path to anti-aging and longevity starts with how you manage your energy across the day Thank you to our sponsors! - Beyond Wonderland Conference | Oct 13 - 14, 2026. Discipline is not a character trait. In this episode of DarrenDaily On-Demand, Darren Hardy makes the case that relying on discipline is a sign the system is broken, not a sign of strength. He draws on a CEO running a $200 million company, whose rigid 5 AM routine was quietly destroying his performance by 3 PM every single day, to reveal the design principle that makes discipline irrelevant. Darren also walks through how this CEO reversed course in 30 days, and the counterintuitive calendar strategy that drove a 23% revenue increase without adding a single new habit.
