Many of you have asked me to release my mash ups and remixes from my podcasts as " singles ". I am starting a new series called VAULT.
Då valde The Wheel of Bowie ”Never Let Me Down” från 1987. 09:01 Day in day out 22:55 Time will crawl 33:55 Beat of your drum 43:05 Never let me down 50:33 Zeroes 59:40 Glass spider 1:06:32 Shining star (makin' my love) 1:13:47 New York's in love 1:17:17 '87 and cry 1:19:07 Too dizzy 1:30:33 Bang bang

Abstract: Cultivated meat may be a more ethical, environmentally friendly, antibiotic-free meat alternative of the future. As of now, one of the main limiting factors for bringing cultivated meat to the market is the high cost of the cell culture medium. Here, we optimize B8/B9 medium - one of the well-established serum free, fully defined medium compositions available for purchase or for preparation in-house. We show several combinations of the growth factors/myokines/hormones, which were able to substantially increase bovine satellite cells proliferation rate, as well as treatment schemes which allow to use five to ten times lower concentrations of signaling molecules for the same effect. Additionally, we present two food grade low-price medium stabilizers, one of which exhibits superior stabilization of the B8 medium as compared to recombinant human serum albumin, and allows for its substitution, dropping the price for stabilization to approx. under 0.2% of that used in B9 medium. He is a three-time HBO Def Poet and is known for his performance on Kanye West's Grammy Award-winning debut album The College Dropout, which featured him on the song "Never Let Me Down" along with Jay-Z. He received an NAACP Image Award for his writing and on-camera narration of the BET documentary Muhammad Ali: The People's Champ. Recently, J. Ivy recorded and filmed a concert titled Catching Dreams: Live at Fort Knox Chicago, which was Nominated for the 2022 GRAMMY Awards in the Best Spoken Word Category alongside Levar Burton, Don Cheadle, Dave Chappelle, and Barack Obama. But before he was able to celebrate, J. Ivy took up the roles of Lead Writer, Voice Director, and Cast Member of Netflix's new film, jeen-yuhs A Kanye Trilogy, directed by Coodie & Chike. “Jeen-yuhs” shared a nomination for Outstanding Documentary Series in the 2022 Emmys with The Beatles' new documentary series, “Get Back”. In this episode, J. Ivy and Jack discuss sharing an Emmy nomination with The Beatles, what it's like to work with Kanye West, finding inspiration in poetry and music, changing The Grammys, and picking a Beatle to collaborate with. Or click here for more information: Linktr.ee/BeatlesEarth ----- The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960, that comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are regarded as the most influential band of all time[1] and were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music's recognition as an art form.[2] Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock 'n' roll, their sound incorporated elements of classical music and traditional pop in innovative ways; the band later explored music styles ranging from ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As pioneers in recording, songwriting and artistic presentation, the Beatles revolutionised many aspects of the music industry and were often publicised as leaders of the era's youth and sociocultural movements. Led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, the Beatles evolved from Lennon's previous group, the Quarrymen, and built their reputation playing clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg over three years from 1960, initially with Stuart Sutcliffe playing bass. The core trio of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison, together since 1958, went through a succession of drummers, including Pete Best, before asking Starr to join them in 1962. Manager Brian Epstein moulded them into a professional act, and producer George Martin guided and developed their recordings, greatly expanding their domestic success after signing to EMI Records and achieving their first hit, "Love Me Do", in late 1962. J. Ivy was born March 3, 1976 as James Ivy Richardson II in Chicago, Illinois to James Ivy Richardson Sr. and Pamela Richardson. His father was a Disc Jockey and On-Air Personality, who went by the name Jim Richards. Jim Richards' highlights included hosting the morning hour show on Chicago's popular radio station WVON,[2] and his mother was a registered nurse. J. Ivy grew up on Chicago's South side with his family until the age of 14 before moving to the South Suburbs of Chicago, where he attended Rich Central High School. Ivy discovered his poetry talent during his junior year when his English teacher asked him to perform a piece he had written for a routine homework assignment.[3] He performed in front of the student body and received a standing ovation. J. was heavily influenced by his mother, who supported his budding talent by encouraging him to continue writing and publish his burgeoning body of work. After his successful school performance, J took his poetry passion as a serious hobby and began regularly writing and performing well into his college years. J. Ivy attended Illinois State University, where he became known on campus as "The Poet" and delved deeper into the art form. After college, J. Ivy returned to Chicago and frequently performed on the local arts circuit. As his popularity grew, J. Ivy was featured several times on Chicago's WGCIradio station and later became the host of "Rituals," (from 1997 to 2000) the most popular poetry night in Chicago and perhaps the nation at that time. He was eventually asked to come on Russell Simmons' HBO Def Poetry Jam. He received a standing ovation for his performance of "I Need to Write"[4] and was invited back for two encore appearances in later seasons where he performed his signature poems "Dear Father" and "Never Let Me Down." Fellow Chicagoan Kanye West heard about J. Ivy from mutual friends while he was working on his debut album The College Dropout for Roc-A-Fella Records. He contacted Ivy and offered him the opportunity to be on the song, "Never Let Me Down" which also featured Jay-Z. The College Dropout album earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The night J. Ivy recorded his verse on "Never Let Me Down," he heard music from a singer named John Stephens. J. Ivy was so inspired by John's music that he began to call him John Legend. J. Ivy is also featured in the first episode of the Kanye three part documentary Jeen-yuhs. His distinct hip-hop poetic style caught the attention of many who were not accustomed to hearing poetry incorporated into music in this manner which led him to collaborating with many artists including John Legend, Estelle, Slum Village, Maurice Brown, Smoke DZA, and more. On October 26, 2010, J. Ivy released his second studio album "HERE I AM", which features guest artists Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets, Jessica Care Moore, Jesse Boykins III, Blitz the Ambassador, Chris Rob, Amanda Seales, Mikkey Halsted, and more. In 2014 J. Ivy released a mixtape titled, "Diggin' in the Papes Vol.1", which features a host of collaborative records Ivy has created with Hip-Hop artist and producers like Crooked I, The Cool Kids, Ski Beatz, Slum Village, Carl Thomas, Tall Black Guy, and more. In 2017 J. Ivy released his third studio album, "My Daddy's Records", an album created for his book "Dear Father: Breaking the Cycle of Pain." J. Ivy is currently the Chicago Chapter President of the Recording Academy and is the first Spoken-Word Artist to hold a Chapter President seat in the history of the Recording Academy. In 2012, J. Ivy followed up his album "HERE I AM" with the release of his book "HERE I AM: Then & Now," a compilation of the album's lyrics, stories regarding the inspiration for the album, and additional poetry. In January 2014 J. Ivy inked a book deal with Beyond Words Publishing, an imprint of Atria Books & Simon & Schuster, for the January 2015 release of his new book "Dear Father: Breaking the Cycle of Pain",[6] which is based on J. Ivy's poem "Dear Father" (as seen on HBO Def Poetry). In addition to his voice, Ivy has been a featured in numerous ads and served as a spokesperson for national corporate initiatives. He has been a model for both Mecca and LRG's national print-ads as well as a spokesperson for Ford Urban.com alongside Tarrey Torae, Rocsi from BET's 106 & Park and MTV's VJ Sway Calloway. J. Ivy was the sole voice and face in Verizon's History in the Making Campaign, which earned him a Gold Clio Award for the campaign's commercial, which was shown in movie theaters nationwide. This campaign was directed by Bob Giraldi, who directed Michael Jackson's "Beat It." J. Ivy's musical endorsements have also included extensive work with Allstate Insurance's Beyond February initiative. J. Ivy's voice has also been heard on 2013 Benjamin Moore & Co. Paint Commercial, 2013–15 Nissan Commercials, HBO Boxing, Monday Night Football, CBS Sports, MTV's Who's Got Game, and in the 2009 and 2011 NFL seasons, he was featured on the introduction for the entire season of NBC's Sunday Night Football alongside Faith Hill. J. Ivy supports programs that bring arts into the school system. He is a regular performer in Chicago Public Schools. J. Ivy was a guest speaker/performer at Deepak Chopra's 2012 Annual Sages & Scientists Symposium and was the official MC for the 2013 & 2014 edition.[7] Additionally, J. Ivy has conducted poetry workshops and given performances for Reading Is Fundamental, The Kanye West Foundation, and Steve Harvey's Mentoring Camp For Young Men, where he presented his Dear Father Initiative, which teaches the power of forgiveness and promotes social emotional healing through the exercise of writing and journaling. J. Ivy has appeared on many programs and series, including: ER, The Martha Stewart Show, ABC's BCS Selection Show, ABC's All-America Team Show, ABC's FedEx Orange Bowl Championship Game, ABC's Monday Night Football, ABC's NBA Finals, Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam on HBO, HBO's Bob Costas Now, HBO Boxing, MTV's Who's Got Game, MTV's 2004 New Year's Eve Bash (2004), MTV's Black History Month Special (2004), MTV's My Block, VH-1's Best Year Ever (2005), B.E.T.'s Lyric Café, BET's Black Carpet Series, B.E.T.'s Harlem Nights, the independent film, Backstabbers (1999), ESPN's 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee, and B.E.T.'s "Ali: The People's Champ, which won a NAACP Image Award. In 2018 Ivy's national T.V. commercial for AARP premiered on Super Bowl Sunday during the episode of NBC's This Is Us and has run through 2019. In January of 2019 J. Ivy wrote for, starred in, and narrated B.E.T.'s documentary "Martin: The Legacy of a King." He was also featured in Episode 1 of AMC's [1] "Hip-Hop: The Songs that Shook America." Never give up

It's time to start planning the hit on the Sabbat holdout. The Coterie calls a meeting of Chicago's Anarch movement and makes a deal they can't refuse, eagrly helping to take care of the incursion of everyone's least favorite vampire sect. However, there's a very big, very scary roadblock in the way of them openly joining the Anarchs they have to contend with: Stank-Eye. CONTENT WARNING: We are playing Vampire: The Masquerade. VtM only half-romanticizes vampires, and a large portion of the game is about exploring just how much of a monster you're willing to become. Since this game deals with heavier issues than most games we tend to play on this podcast, I am issuing content warning for the following subjects: Blood, violence, body horror, abuse of all forms, issues of consent, torture If you feel uncomfortable to listening to any of these subjects, please tread lightly, and we won't blame you for skipping this campaign if you do. The 1980s were Bowie's lost decade. True? No, says Nick Pegg. Join me and the much-loved author of The Complete David Bowie for a reappraisal of Bowie's musical adventures around and beneath the official albums released between 1980 and 1990. We're looking at Baal, Queen, Pat Metheny, Cat People, Live Aid, Band Aid, Labyrinth, Absolute Beginners and of course, as is always the case with Mr Pegg, a whole load of assorted trivia, facts, opinions and theories. Whatever you think of Bowie's notoriously divisive EMI albums, one thing's clear - there's much more to Bowie in the 80s than Never Let Me Down and Tonight. Recorded via Zoom in November 2020, with some occasional input from my dog Otto in the background. If you enjoy this podcast, please do follow us, review and share the episode and let me know what you think! Nick's book, in case you haven't yet read it, is something of a Holy Grail of Bowie info and detail - available here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-David-Bowie-Revised-Updated/dp/1785653652/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2VA9CC0ZX6SVO&dchild=1&keywords=nicholas+pegg+the+complete+david+bowie&qid=1615294898&sprefix=Nicholas+Pegg%2Caps%2C228&sr=8-1 Furthermore, edited out due to space, but we briefly talked about Nick's fleeting cameo in the recent, brilliant TV series "It's A Sin". If you've missed THAT and can access UK TV, then really, what are you waiting for, go and watch it and then come back. It is a superb, heartrending and life-affirming piece of drama (and Pegg-watchers, look out for the Dalek). https://www.channel4.com/programmes/its-a-sin OK, thanks for reading, thanks for listening, thanks for supporting us - let's dive in!

The resurrection of a goddess — Tina Turner After having massive success with the resurrection of the buried gem "Higher Love" by Whitney Houston — Kygo is back again and sweetened the pot. He's reinvigorated the Tina Turner mid-80s monster classic "What's Love Got To Do With It" and turned it into a reggaeton summer monster. It's not clear if Tina (at 80 years old) was involved in this project but it seems likely. There are some runs in this version that were not part of the original release unless they were part of the original acapella in the masters vault. It doesn't really matter because he dusts this track off and gives it a modern-day spin that would put it in contention for song of the summer. The newest and hottest dance club songs Surf Mesa and Emilee have heated up the Electronic Dance Charts with Ily (I Love You Baby), which is a rework of the original Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons hit, which was turned into a #1 disco hit by Boys Town Gang, a #1 Dance Club song by Pet Shop Boys and a soothing hip hop twist by Lauryn Hill among many others. Here, Topic turns their laid-back version into a dance-floor-ready house number. Other personal treats here for your summer listening pleasure are Sammy Porter's "Evissa, You & Me," HOSH, 1979 and Jalja's "Midnight (The Hanging Tree)," Vize and Tom Gregory's "Never Let Me Down," Purple Disco with Sophie and the Giants "Hypnotized," Alesso and Liam Payne's "Midnight," and the return of Toni Braxton with the help of Dave Audé on her funky "Dance." As predicted, Gorgon City and Soffi Tukker's "House Arrest" is topping just about every DJ list out there, while Gorgon City isn't letting up and just dropped "Nobody" with the indie group Drama. This is going to be another massive song but more so for the dub version included here, which takes the original and gives it that deep house mystique GC is known for. Wait until you hear the Sam Girling Tech House mix, which is slated for the next Peak Hour set and takes the song to a whole new level. Perhaps the one that's really got me sucked in is Kenzie and Sia's "Exhale." The Hook n Sling remix on this is pure perfection and will certainly raise the temperature on any dance floor already boiling over. As of this writing — there's only a radio version but no extended nor remixes of this fantastic song but it's HOT and gonna be BIG!

What up doe! Welcome back to Baltimore County Forever Podcast. This is episode 106 and we got my man Norm on today. We jump right into it with a new segment called “Regular Norm Rants.” Norm vents to gets some things off his chest- specifically Dave East going commercial. Then we get into this week’s playlist and start off with the Ruff Ryders, Swizz Beatz, X & Drag-on. How important was Swizz Beatz to crafting their sound? Would Ruff Ryders have been as dominant as they were if Dame Grease did the majority of their beats instead of Swizz? We then change gears to Black Rob, and Norm and I talk about “Whoa” and its producer, Buckwild. Norm talks about his favorite track produced by Buckwild. Next we jump into the Missy Elliott and Ms. Jade track, “Funky Fresh.” Why aren’t these two mentioned when people discuss top female rappers? Tune into the DJ Khaled discussion, where we talk about “Wild Thoughts” actually being a Wu Tang sample, not a Carlos Santana sample. Finally we talk about “Never Let Me Down” by Jay and Ye made the list this week and I talk about the first time I heard it and that version only having 1 Jay verse. On our first Saturday back from out mid season break, we covered the new Joker movie and Kanye West's "Never Let Me Down". We also broke down each others personality in this week's main topic. "A Real Podcast For Real People"
The Black Equalist (TBE) is another compilation of speeches and essays created by human (Afro) rights activist, DM Lawrence. TBE is a mixtape/audiobook/podcast about social, economic, and political issues in America and internationally. The purpose of this project is to introduce DM Lawrence's Pan-African philosophy of Black Equalism, which focuses on the fact that despite our social, economic, and political status - all people are equal. Moreover, "Black", "white", and race are not real but social constructions created to compel people to dislike "Black/black" (non-white) people. All in all, DM Lawrence attacks the dividers of people and social constructs and systems/practices (colorism, racism, sexism, xenophobia, poverty, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, gender, political affiliation, region/geography), that are created to hold people back and maintain the status quo.
In this episode we learn that David loved the 90s almost as much as he loved Iman. In this episode of Space Poddity - Pod Like a Hole Phase 2, the audio chrononauts travel to 1993 and dissect an artifact very much of it's time: Black Tie White Noise. Marvel at the plastic production. Be amazed at the on the nose commentary. Envy the giant shoulder pads. And be thankful it's not as bad as Never Let Me Down but not by much. 2.5 hours of Eric, Marc, and Steve trying to mine for gold in David's New Jack City. If you've ever wondered how it would be possible to have three guys talk for nearly 3 hours about David Bowie's self-admittedly worst album, then wonder no more. Our trusty Diamond Dice sends us to David Bowie's 17th studio album, Never Let Me Down, where we traverse through what's considered David Bowie's career nadir. Eric, Marc, and Steve go track by track and compare it to the re-worked 2018 versions available on Loving the Alien (1983-1988) to see if this album got a bad rap, and we're not just talking about Mickey Rourke's appearance on the record.Links:Day In Day Out (Official Music Video) - https://youtu.be/eK4MyREDv1MTime Will Crawl (Official Music Video) - https://youtu.be/YHU28e8hZkANever Let Me Down (Official Music Video) - https://youtu.be/pCjeX08WdYQGlass Spider (Live) - https://youtu.be/q9aKZzbShT8That's Motivation (From Absolute Beginners) - https://youtu.be/hVYHI1T0PGoWhen the Wind Blows (Trailer) - https://youtu.be/4h1lRqUBuSIIggy Pop - Bang Bang - https://youtu.be/HcUa65cgX9cDavid Bowie - Bang Bang (Live) - https://youtu.be/IrrJbf4hRFMDavid Bowie - Never Let Me Down (2018 Full Album) - https://youtu.be/Zjs-ktomv4EToo Dizzy (Deleted) - https://youtu.be/KkGLwQ76E5oFollow us at:Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/podlikeahole/Twitter - https://twitter.com/podlikeaholeInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/pod_like_a_hole_podcast/
J. Reid Prime of Prime Society returns to the show to talk The College Dropout, Kanye West's debut album. The conversations range from Jay-Z's iconic performance on Never Let Me Down, the legendary skits, the unlikely and improbable winner of the album, and an Aretha Franklin rant (?) before diving into an important question: do any of them still believe in Kanye?
If you've ever felt ironically let down by Never Let Me Down, or have felt the very fire extinguished from your chest by Hearts of Fire, or have wondered just how low David Bowie could sink, reputationally but more importantly point-wise in the year 1987, and whether Dylan could actually be worse in that year (good thing he didn't put out an album, or it might have been close), or what a glass spider might look like, or how long Dylan's earrings extend down his shoulders, but also have longed to know what various members of Charlie and Jake's nuclear and extended family sound like in small snippets talking about music that no one should be subjected to whilst various babies and other small children prattle on in the Christmas-inspired backdrop of suburban Minnesota, then BOY DO WE HAVE A TREAT FOR YOU. It's part 1 of the self-described-in-a-later-episode "Diamond Jubilee", that's really just Fool's Gold or Tarnished Tin, in this very special episode of Bowie vs. Dylan.

Playliste:1. David Bowie / Giorgio Moroder: Cat People (12”-version, 1982)2. The Drowned Girl (fra teaterstykket Baal, 1982)3. Let’s Dance (1983)4. Ricochet (1983)5. Dancing with the Big Boys (1984)6. Loving the Alien (Re-mixed 7”-version, 1985)7. Looks Unfamiliar is a podcast in which writer and occasional broadcaster Tim Worthington talks to a guest about some of the things that they remember that nobody else ever seems to. This is a collection of highlights from shows nineteen to twenty four, featuring Paul Kirkley on The Kids From Fame Again, Garreth F. Hirons on Sweet 75, Darrell Maclaine on The Brennan JB7, James Gent on When The Wind Blows by David Bowie, Ros Ballinger on Microsoft Explorapedia, and Jonny Morris on Jesta Giggle by The Barron Knights. Along the way we'll be finding out why The Barron Knights should have covered T.V.O.D., where the whistling from Never Let Me Down was 'borrowed' from, and which former member of Nirvana really loves accordions. Plus there’s also something you may not have heard before – Tim on Betamax Video Club talking about Absolute Beginners, and an extra downhill slaloming surprise at the end... Don't forget that you can find the full versions of all these editions - and details of how to buy my new book Can't Help Thinking About Me - at http://timworthington.org

Kanye knows how to get media attention for his last albums by acting weird and insane in a very antifragile manner. Even Nassim Taleb mentioned him! Kanye grew up in Chicago and probably experienced some stories about being poor. Connections between the album and books and concepts from books discussed. 5:04 – He was a producer and produced some famous hip hop albums. Change in how producers are considered today, compared to when Kanye produced Jay Z's Blueprint. Producer as a brand. Kanye is a "full-stack" artist, he produces and signs his own songs. 10:24 – While this album was in progress he had a car accident that injured his jaw. Appreciating rap from an outsider perspective. Interwoven comedy element in the album. Why he included a song about Christianity. Kanye's soul signature. 13:41 – 1. "Intro (Skit)". Impersonating a professor asking Kanye for a graduation speech/song for kids graduating. Sets the tone for the rest of the album. 14:33 – 2. "We Don't Care" – Kanye responding to the request. Growing up poor in the slums of Chicago. Drug dealers as ideal of prestige and claiming other people's kids on income tax. Success is living beyond 25. Sense of being a self-made singer. Fuck you for the game being rigged, but also fuck you for not playing it. 20:53 – 3. "Graduation Day". His professor is really mad and tells him he is not graduating. Kanye invited unknown artists (at the moment) to sign together some songs. 22:36 – 4. "All Falls Down" (featuring Syleena Johnson). People in college who is not upper-middle class and is unsure what they are doing. The illusion of college as a ticket to upper-middle class. Parental pressure to go to college. "It's nice to have white parents" argument. 27:41 – Consumerism. Buying stuff to come up with insecurity. Kanye and Antifragile. There's nothing bad he can do to sell less albums. Starting beefs as strategies to up rappers popularity. Black people feeling continually under surveillance by internalizing the view of society. Reference to slaves' promised land. 38:00 – Kanye's uniqueness to escape the braggadocious rap era. Saying the things everybody is thinking, but sounds impolite if said by other than comedians or rappers. 40:16 – 5. "I'll Fly Away". Gospel cover. 40:50 – 6. "Spaceship" (featuring GLC and Consequence). Experiences working, from a black person perspective. Being the token blackie of a Gap store. Working for the mob. Chicago state of mind. Dead end feelings. 43:11 – 7. "Jesus Walks". This song was, at the time, was out of place because it talked about God. Layers of meanings. Doing the bad thing, being conscious about that, but willing to be OK with God. The need for an ideal of better life, more positive and constructive than a drug dealer. Challenging the radio stations to broadcast music outside the mainstream topics, 48:38 – #8 "Never Let Me Down" (featuring Jay-Z and J. Ivy). Poor Jay-Z verse. Civil right activists in Kanye's family. Comparing the great injustices our grandparents had to deal with, with our current inability to vote. Racism still being alive, despite all the progress made. 52:17 – #9 "Get Em High" (featuring Talib Kweli and Common). Upbeat and funny song. Building self confidence and middle fingers up. Becoming famous and hitting up girls. First solo appearances, opening Talib Kweli's shows. Name-dropping. Featuring guests as guest posting. Dancing for cash, or publishing under independent labels as a way to being antifragile from industry cycles. 59:07 – 10. "Workout Plan (Skit)". Intro skit. Girls talking about losing weight workouts. 59:18 – 11. "The New Workout Plan". 1:02:32 – 12. "Slow Jamz" (with Twista and Jamie Foxx). Bluesy soul song "for the ladies". Tribute to big soul R&B musicians. 1:05:15 – 13. "Breathe in Breathe Out" (featuring Ludacris; co-produced by Brian "All Day" Miller). Probably a filler song, or a song that ties the artistic sides of the album. The need to do gangsta rap to widen the audience and give the album a push. Parallel with breweries, that need to have at least one IPA in their portfolio. Dichotomy of doing mainstream stuff to support the artistic stuff. 1:09:04 – 14. "School Spirit (Skit 1)". How school screws you and wastes your time. Getting class after class, but not knowing anything and don't make any money. 1:11:07 – 15. "School Spirit". School hierarchy is not synced to the real world. 1:11:32 – 16. "School Spirit (Skit 1)". Funny skit. Dying broke but covered by degrees. School getting more and more expensive, and more and more useless.Sentiment that everyone should be given an opportunity to move up vs effective paths to get people out of poverty. Option to move back home and not taking loans. 1:15:05 – Why people still believe in higher education and why it is a bubble like the housing one. Schools getting paid regardless of the graduates being employment situation. The problem of online certifications. Alternative signalling mechanisms. How to demonstrate competence in any field. Entrepreneurship and Marketing can't be learnt on books. 1:23:21 – 18. "Two Words" (featuring Mos Def, Freeway and The Boys Choir of Harlem). The game is rigged. Reference to the '70-'80 crack addiction in poor communities. Different treatment for drugs used by different ethnics. Why marijuana is being legalized (as more and more is used by white or rich people). Why Hemp was ostracized by the Paper industry. 1:31:58 – 19. "Through the Wire". A song recorded while still recovering from a car accident where he could have died. Despite all the horrible things happening, he will not stop doing music. Turning a negative into a positive. 50 Cents playing up the story of being shot 9 times. Tragedy helps the triumph make possible, or at least, making a strong selling point. Eminem's case. 1:35:00 – 20. "Family Business". Coming up with a new rap style. Family gatherings. 1:36:22 – 21. "Last Call" (co-produced by Evidence; additional production by Porse). A summary of Kanye's story. Record labels would not give Kanye a chance because he was not dressing as a typical gangsta rapper. Kanye being so sure to sign with Capitol Records and being dropped at the last minute. The need of one big shitty thing before everything else goes well. 1:40:07 – Announcement. Mullets! Marimbas! Multimedia arachnid mayhem! Yes it's the spidery folly of 1987's 'Never Let Me Down', with Nicholas Pegg returning to stoutly defend his choice of album to a sceptical public, in this highly entertaining ramble. The 1987 album 'Never Let Me Down' was a mishmash of styles, songs and haircuts as Bowie attempted to jumpstart his flagging career, with this confused follow up to 1984's 'Tonight'. Reflecting the uncertainty of Bowie's mindset at the time - casting around for a new direction and harking back to the theatricality of 'Diamond Dogs' a decade earlier, while trying to forge a contemporary sound. In this very entertaining conversation, The Complete David Bowie author Nicholas Pegg joins me again to chew over the album which he maintains, is not quite the car crash I always considered it to be... Plus, we hear Bowie's Iggy and Springsteen imitations and Nick explains why the Glass Spider is really a magical moment in Bowie's oeuvre...
