Shut It Down to Stop ICE—And How to Not Die While Saving the Planet | The Karel Show At this point, there's only one real move left: shut it down. Democrats have the power to defund DHS and ICE, but it means being willing to shut down the government and force Republicans to finally blink. And here's the truth: the public is with them. For millions of Americans, the federal government has become more destructive than helpful — and surrendering again would be unforgivable. If it takes a shutdown to: • Withdraw ICE • End masked, unaccountable enforcement • Stop a President from operating what looks like a private army Then Democrats should hold the line and not give in. Do whatever it takes to stop the madness. But it's not all politics today. We also turn to something deeply personal and hopeful: How Not to Die, the new documentary exploring plant-based eating for human health and the planet. The film is airing on UnChainedTV, and we're joined by its founder and president Jane Velez-Mitchell to talk about why food choices matter — for longevity, climate, and our future. Because surviving this moment isn't just about politics — it's also about how we live, eat, and care for ourselves and each other. The Karel Show is live Monday–Thursday at 10:30am PST, streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart, Spreaker, and more — and simulcast on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. This is the story of Long Haul.  Why do we have to learn the same lessons with a little twist over and over?  Diet and nutrition all sound so simple on paper.  Eat a plant based diet and all will be well.  That works until the questions arise and you find yourself confused with less than perfect options.  One way out is to give up the fight, the other is to learn and grow from mistakes I will share my frustrations, disappointment and growth from this experience.  I will also leave you with some unknowns.   Thanks for listening, For information about our wellness practice: doctordulaney.com Email questions to jami@doctordulaney.com Cookbook: amzn.to/4onHVe4 EBook: doctordulaney.com/.powerful-plates-ebook/?mc_cid-cc24587 Water distillers: mypurewater.come?sld-jdulaney discount code: cleanwaterforsophie

I believe that compromise is health span.  What can you do to stay out of the medical establishment  but not compromise being in longevity jail?   I believe it costs very little.  You can go a long way obtaining your food from the grocery store, getting sunlight daily, and exercising in a way to keep strong and cardio fit without fancy equipment, tests or supplements.   The big question is what are you willing to commit to in 2026.  If you would like to shrink your medicine cabinet, waste line and supplement bill, check out our website at doctordulaney.com Email me with questions at jami@doctordulaney.com Cookbook: amzn.to/4onHVe4 EBook: doctordulaney.com/.powerful-plantes-ebook/?mc_cid-cc24587ac Water distillers: mypurewater.come?sld-jdulaney discount code: cleanwaterforsophie

The decision was rooted in a deep emotional turning point after years of corporate burnout and feeling disconnected from her purpose. With her husband by her side (and yes, he's “tall, dark, and handsome”), she made the leap from a 15-year corporate career into creating St. Jo, a line of skincare and wellness products that nourish from the inside out.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. The Daytona 50 mile race is in the books.  It was my first road ultramarathon, and I continue to learn a little something at each race.  I believe the learning points can be applied to any new task or long term goal.   1. Break a goal down into small parts.  This seems obvious but the trick is staying in the small part and not looking into the daunting future.  2. Have a strategy for each segment before the segment begins and follow the plan.  Variables come up, there is always the unknown, but a strategy is a must for a baseline. 3. What is your time frame? Can you stick to it? Have you ever started a trip without a time plan?  The progress is not always what you want.  4. Stiffness is a real concern with sitting during an ultramarathon.  However, you can get started again.  5. Nutrition is best handled without relying on an aid station for solid foods for the most part. Its is not a buffet.  6. Salty britches is a must for blister prevention.  I hope you enjoy my story. Thanks for listening.  Are marathons bad for your heart?  I will review a study that looks at imaging and blood test.  Bottom line is symptoms matter when it comes to testing accuracy.  Want to get healthier with nutrition and exercise? "Vegetarian in Paris with Amber Haggerty" is your ultimate guide to eating meat-free in the City of Light—and trust me, it's easier (and tastier) than you think! In this episode of Join Us in France, host Annie Sargent chats with Amber Haggerty, the expert behind The Vegetarian in Paris blog, about where to find the best plant-based meals in Paris. Whether you're a lifelong vegetarian, a curious foodie, or just looking to explore meat-free options, Amber shares her insider tips for navigating Parisian menus, avoiding tourist traps, and discovering hidden gems that even locals love. Listen to this episode ad-free Amber, a long-time vegetarian and Paris resident, reveals her favorite spots for everything from savory Breton galettes at Breizh Café to upscale vegetarian dining at Pristine, where the mushroom tart is legendary. She also highlights cozy wine bars like Le 1745, where you can build your own cheese board, and tiny bakeries like Le Comptoir de la Madeleine, famous for its warm, buttery madeleines. And if you're craving international flavors, she recommends Habesha for Ethiopian feasts or Zia for New Mexican brunch near the Eiffel Tower. But this episode isn't just about restaurants. Amber and Annie dive into practical advice, like how to spot vegetarian-friendly dishes on French menus (hint: the sprout emoji doesn't always mean meat-free!) and where to shop for gourmet ingredients, like 30-month-aged Comté at Fromagerie Hardouin. You'll also learn what gifts to bring home—think French salt, artisanal butter, or vacuum-packed galettes—that food lovers will adore. What makes this conversation special? Amber's passion for Paris shines through as she proves that vegetarian dining in the city isn't about sacrifice—it's about discovering delicious, creative meals that celebrate French cuisine without the meat. Annie's warm, engaging style makes it feel like you're getting advice from a trusted friend, and by the end, you'll be ready to book your trip and eat your way through Paris like a pro. Welcome! and Thank you for listening.  I am joined by my favorite little people today to talk all things Thanksgiving.  I give you a little recap of my latest learning experience during the Colt 45k this past weekend. I am grateful for all of you who continue to tune into the podcast after all these years.  It has been a pleasure to learn and share information with those interested in being as healthy as possible.  It is easy to loose sight of the simple gifts around us.  It was a very special moment to have my grandchildren on my lap during this podcast.  A simple conversation unscripted after a simple dinner of bean soup and cornbread.   Colt Creek 45K was also a simple gift of running in the woods in central Florida.  Even though our leaves don't change, there were beautiful purple and yellow wild flowers among fields of grass, pines and oaks.  I continue to learn with each race and increase my tool box for trouble shooting the unexpected.  Sometimes, in the moment, we are not sure what the next step might be.  The beauty I continue to learn is just to take that next step.  It all seems to work out.  Happy Thanksgiving.  Enjoy the simple gifts around you.
