AI was supposed to make work more efficient. So why are people busier than ever? As organisations move into 2026, many leaders are realising that while technology has changed quickly, the fundamentals of how work gets done haven't kept up. Activity is increasing, output is accelerating in places - yet coordination, focus, and decision-making often feel harder than before. So what's actually going on? In this episode of the Digital HR Leaders podcast, David Green is joined by Philip Arkcoll, Founder and CEO of Worklytics, to unpack this very question. Join this dynamic duo, as they discuss: What the data reveals around where organisations were getting stuck in 2025, and how the way we work is changing in 2026 What collaboration and activity data reveals that traditional HR metrics often miss Why decision-making, not output, is becoming the primary bottleneck in AI-enabled organisations How increasing spans of control are reshaping the role, and load, of managers The emerging divide between teams and individuals who are benefiting from AI and those who aren't What HR and people analytics leaders can do to measure, diagnose, and redesign how work actually happens This episode is sponsored by Worklytics. Worklytics helps leaders understand how work actually happens with data-driven insights into collaboration, productivity and AI adoption. This episode is brought to you by LMNT, Audible and Strong Coffee Company. You've probably heard of the trauma responses fight, flight, and freeze — but there's a fourth response that may be shaping your life without you even realizing it: fawning. In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Ingrid Clayton, PhD a clinical psychologist, trauma therapist, and author of Fawning, to understand why people-pleasing, over-accommodating, and self-abandonment are not personality flaws — they're intelligent survival responses your nervous system learned to keep you safe. You'll learn how fawning develops when fight, flight, or freeze aren't available — especially in childhood, unequal power dynamics, toxic relationships, and work environments where your safety or stability feels at risk. You'll also discover how living in a chronic fawn response can quietly disconnect you from your needs, your voice, your body, and your sense of self. This conversation helps you recognize why "just setting boundaries" often feels impossible, why you may disappear in relationships, and why choosing yourself can feel terrifying even when you know something needs to change. Most importantly, you'll hear why none of this means something is wrong with you — you make sense. If you've been stuck in survival mode, waiting for permission, approval, or safety outside yourself, this episode will help you understand what's been happening beneath the surface — and how you can begin moving forward by reconnecting with who you truly are. Dissociation can happen to people who grew up in chaotic, abusive, or passive-aggressive homes and is common in CPTSD. What does it really take to move AI from proof-of-concept to something that delivers value at scale? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I'm joined by Simon Pettit, Area Vice President for the UK and Ireland at UiPath, for a grounded conversation about what is actually happening inside enterprises as AI and automation move beyond experimentation. Simon brings a refreshingly practical perspective shaped by an unconventional career path that spans the Royal Navy, nearly two decades at NetApp, and more than seven years at UiPath. We talk about why the UK and Ireland remain a strategic region for global technology adoption, how London continues to play a central role for companies expanding into Europe, and why AI momentum in the region is very real despite the broader economic noise. A big part of our discussion focuses on why so many organizations are stuck in pilot mode. Simon explains how hype, fragmented experimentation, and poor qualification of use cases often slow progress, while successful teams take a very different approach. He shares real examples of automation already delivering measurable outcomes, from long-running public sector programs to newer agent-driven workflows that are now moving into production after clear ROI validation. We also explore where the next wave of challenges is emerging. As agentic AI becomes easier for anyone to create, Simon draws a direct parallel to the early days of cloud computing and VM sprawl. Visibility, orchestration, and cost control are becoming just as important as innovation itself. Without them, organizations risk losing control of workflows, spend, and accountability as agents multiply across the business. Looking ahead, Simon outlines why AI success will depend on ecosystems rather than single platforms. Partnerships, vertical solutions, and the ability to swap technologies as the market evolves will shape how enterprises scale responsibly. From automation in software testing to cross-functional demand coming from HR, finance, and operations, this conversation captures where AI is delivering today and where the real work still lies. If you're trying to separate AI momentum from AI noise, this episode offers a clear, experience-led view of what it takes to turn potential into progress. What would need to change inside your organization to move from pilots to production with confidence? Show Notes: Jason Baumgarten is a partner at Spencer Stuart where he is also the global head and CEO of board practice. He assists businesses in all sectors to identify and evaluate CEOs who motivate senior leadership teams to reach their full potential. Additionally, he assists boards with CEO succession planning, director recruitment, and identifying future leaders. How to Join a For-profit Board Jason talks about the range of roles on a board and the specific roles a board might be looking to fill. He explains that the specificity of board roles varies based on the scale and maturity of the organization, using a real example of a board search he is currently involved in. Jason discusses how sophisticated boards often have specific requirements for board members, such as industry experience, geographic expertise, and specific skill sets. Identifying and Defining Board Roles When asked about the various categories of board roles, such as finance, data analytics, and HR, Jason explains that the most common request is for recently or actively retired CEOs, followed by CFOs with specific finance experience. He highlights the importance of understanding the nature and type of business the company is in, such as regulated industries, capital-light businesses, or capital-heavy businesses. Board Member Etiquette Jason outlines the main drivers for wanting to be on a board: prestige and the desire to be helpful. He explains the concept of "noses in, fingers out" in governance, emphasizing the importance of board members being helpful but not overly involved. He also discusses the range of compensation for board members, from stipends to significant annual fees, and advises against depending on board compensation as a primary source of income. He stresses the importance of being willing to fire oneself from a board to provide objective advice to the CEO. The Reality of Joining a Board for Management Consultants Jason advises not to limit aspirations and suggests using a simple litmus test: "if the company wouldn't hire you as a top executive, they probably won't consider you for a board role." He explains the importance of nonprofit boards, both fundraising and operating boards, and how they can provide valuable experience and networking opportunities. Jason discusses the potential for board roles in small private companies, large private companies, and public companies, emphasizing the importance of regional connections and unique experiences. The Role of Executive Search Firms in Board Recruitment Jason explains that search firms are often involved in board searches for public or pre-IPO companies and large private equity firms. He advises building relationships with search firms and being responsive and helpful when they reach out for market intelligence or advisory work. Jason also shares the importance of having a network of firms that work in your industry or location and how advisory work can lead to board opportunities. How Boards Vet Prospective Members The conversation turns to the process of being vetted and evaluated for a board role, including interviews, background checks, and social media history. Jason explains that some boards generally recruit with a lighter touch than other roles, but private equity and regulated boards may conduct more thorough diligence. He advises candidates to ask about the board's process, including the last board member hired and the steps involved in the recruitment process. He also emphasizes the importance of meeting all board members and ensuring a good fit in terms of personality and interests. The Commitment Reality of Being on the Board Jason talks about the typical time commitment for board members, including meetings, committee calls, and ad hoc time with the CEO. He explains the importance of understanding the size of board decks and the amount of preparation required for each meeting. Jason also advises candidates to be patient and persistent, as the process of getting on a board can take years and is often unpredictable. Identifying Risks to Board Members When asked about the risks involved in accepting a board position and the importance of D&O insurance, Jason recommends consulting with a D&O insurance broker to understand the market and ensure appropriate coverage. He advises candidates to be aware of any litigation or regulatory risks associated with the board and to seek legal advice if necessary. Jason also emphasizes the importance of understanding the board's D&O policy and ensuring that board members are covered appropriately. Final Thoughts and Advice Jason reiterates the importance of understanding the time commitment and potential disruptions that can arise. He advises candidates to be patient and persistent, as the process of getting on a board can take years. Jason shares a story about a former CISO who became a sought-after board member, illustrating the unpredictability of the process and the importance of perseverance. The Post editorial is not an argument, it is a tantrum disguised as analysis, built almost entirely out of contempt for the reader rather than engagement with the facts. Instead of explaining why the Epstein files should remain limited or why institutional handling has been sound, it opens by ridiculing curiosity itself, portraying transparency as hysteria and accountability as a nuisance. It repeatedly blames the public for prosecutors' workload while carefully ignoring the far more damning question of why millions of pages of sensitive material were allowed to accumulate in secrecy for years without resolution. The piece weaponizes the word “conspiracy” to dismiss any inquiry without ever confronting the actual record of non-prosecution agreements, sealed grand juries, immunity clauses, and documented institutional failures that made skepticism inevitable. By framing bipartisan concern as pathology and inquiry as obsession, the editorial tries to convert distrust — created by government misconduct — into a moral defect of the audience. Its constant appeals to SDNY's prestige function as a shield against scrutiny rather than evidence of competence. The article never once grapples with the known procedural irregularities that protected Epstein for decades, because acknowledging them would collapse its thesis. Instead, it replaces investigation with scolding and substitutes sneer for substance. The result is not journalism but narrative discipline, instructing readers that the real scandal is not trafficking, immunity, or protection, but the audacity of citizens to ask how power escaped consequence.More revealing than anything the piece says is what it refuses to say: nothing about the non-prosecution agreement, nothing about unnamed co-conspirators, nothing about sealed testimony, nothing about intelligence overlaps, nothing about the long record of deliberate suppression that made the Epstein case a legitimacy crisis in the first place. By insisting that “no evidence has ever surfaced” while ignoring flight logs, settlements, testimony, recruitment patterns, and financial trails, the editorial performs selective blindness in service of institutional self-defense. Its claim that Biden's access disproves Trump ties relies on naïve assumptions about leaks and ignores the legal architecture that prevents disclosure, while its mockery of “distraction” theories rings hollow in an article explicitly designed to redirect attention away from the files. The editorial's core fear is not conspiracy thinking but institutional exposure, because the danger of the Epstein archive is not salacious gossip but procedural truth — who intervened, who stalled, who authorized, and who buried. In the end, the piece is less a defense of reason than a plea for quiet, urging the public to abandon scrutiny so elites may remain undisturbed. It treats transparency as vandalism, victims as inconvenience, and curiosity as illness, revealing a worldview in which legitimacy is preserved not by accountability but by exhaustion. Far from debunking hysteria, the editorial demonstrates exactly why distrust persists: when institutions cannot answer questions, they try to shame people into stopping them.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:You'll never guess what the new Epstein scandal is
A severe winter storm impacted millions across the U.S. over the weekend with heavy snowfall, ice and record-cold temperatures. At one point, more than a million Americans were without power. Rob Marciano reports. More than 10,000 flights were canceled on Sunday alone as airlines tried to dig out from the massive winter storm. Kris Van Cleave has more. There are mass protests in Minneapolis over another fatal shooting by federal agents. Alex Pretti, who was killed, was an ICU nurse at a hospital for veterans. His father said he "cared about people deeply" and participated in protests after Renee Good was killed by federal officers earlier this month. The death of Alex Pretti in a shooting by federal agents has raised concerns with a group of americans not known for criticizing the Trump administration advocates for the second amendment. Dana Loesch, a radio host and former spokesperson for the National Rifle Association joins us to discuss. Super Bowl LX is set. The New England Patriots will take on the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX which had one of the most exciting endings in history. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
The Reiners called police twice in 2019. A welfare check. A mental health call. That means at some point they perceived enough danger or dysfunction to bring in law enforcement. But by December 2025, they're sharing a home with Nick after watching him act erratically at a party. They went to bed. What happened to their threat calibration? Former FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke joins Hidden Killers to analyze the long con—how a manipulative person reshapes family reality over two decades until danger becomes normalized. Robin spent 21 years with the FBI, including as Chief of the Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, and he specializes in understanding how trust gets exploited. Rob Reiner said publicly that he regretted listening to addiction specialists and professionals instead of his son. Robin explains what it looks like when someone has successfully trained their family to distrust outside expertise—and how long that takes. Nick co-wrote "Being Charlie" with his father in 2015, a movie about their own relationship and his addiction. That's extraordinary narrative control—he got to shape the public story of his illness with his father's collaboration. What does that level of influence tell you about the power dynamics? The Reiners had tried tough love. It hadn't worked. They blamed themselves. Robin explains how manufactured guilt functions as a manipulation tool inside families—and why legitimate frustration with a broken treatment system becomes a vulnerability that can be exploited. The surviving children don't want the death penalty. Even now—protection. Robin weighs in on what that means.#HiddenKillers #NickReiner #RobReiner #MicheleReiner #RobinDreeke #FBI #FamilyManipulation #ThreatBlindness #BeingCharlie #TrueCrimeJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? What does it actually take to build trust with developers when your product sits quietly inside thousands of other products, often invisible to the people using it every day? Ondřej's story starts in QA and software testing, moves through development and platform work, and eventually lands in developer relations. What makes his perspective compelling is that none of these roles felt disconnected. Each one sharpened his understanding of real developer friction, the kind you only notice when you have lived with a product day in and day out. We talked about what changes when you move from monolithic platforms to API-first services, and why developer relations looks very different depending on whether your audience is an application developer, a data engineer, or an integrator working under tight delivery pressure. Ondřej shared how his time at Kentico, Kontent.ai, and Ataccama shaped his approach to tooling, documentation, and examples. For him, theory rarely lands. Showing something that works, even in a small or imperfect way, tends to earn attention and respect far faster. At CKEditor, that thinking becomes even more interesting. The editor is everywhere, yet rarely recognized. It lives inside SaaS platforms, internal tools, CRMs, and content systems, quietly doing its job. We explored how developer experience matters even more when the product itself fades into the background, and why long-term maintenance, support, and predictability often outweigh short-term feature excitement. Ondřej also explained why building instead of buying an editor is rarely as simple as teams expect, especially when standards, security, and future updates enter the picture. We also got into the human side of developer relations. Balancing credibility with business goals, staying useful rather than loud, and acting as a bridge between engineering, product, marketing, and the outside world. Ondřej was refreshingly honest about the role ego can play, and why staying close to real usage is the fastest way to keep yourself grounded. If you care about developer experience, internal tooling, or how invisible infrastructure shapes modern software, this conversation offers plenty to reflect on. What have you seen work, or fail, when it comes to earning developer trust, and where do you think developer relations still get misunderstood? Nonduality is about pointing. We cannot describe Ultimate Reality, but we can point to it. This idea is repeated often. You have undoubtedly heard many times the Zen proverb about not mistaking the finger pointing to the moon for the moon itself. And this is helpful. It helps us look beyond ideas, words, doctrines, and beliefs to know Reality directly. What is not often mentioned is that pointing can itself be a barrier to spiritual awakening. Pointing is misleading. It assumes that Reality is over there somewhere, where we are pointing. Pointing is therefore mis-pointing. Episode 396 - S17 E2: Our Honest Thoughts on the Philippines Today & Why We Love The Global Pinoy SpiritWe are officially back for the 2026 season!
N.W.A, the self proclaimed “most dangerous group in America,” were seen as violent, thuggish, profanity-spewing criminals, but they had nothing on those who were sworn to serve and protect them in South Central Los Angeles. The group's hard hitting beats and reality rhymes launched a “gangsta rap” trend in music that still thrives today, and their album Straight Outta Compton predicted one of the most notoriously violent events in American history. Why are so many young people today drawn to "forbidden" questions about hell, identity, feminism, and the "Jewish question"? Mark Lambert and Katherine Bennett dive deep into the topics the Church and society often avoid, and explore why silence is driving a generation toward extreme voices online. They examine how shows like Friends evangelized a generation into a consequence-free worldview—normalizing contraception, sexual immorality, and same-sex relationships while hiding the real human cost. Now, young people are waking up to the emptiness left behind and are searching for answers secular culture can't provide.HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! In this episode of Talk Dirt To Me, we break down Tennessee House Bill 0809 (HB 0809) the controversial legislation surrounding pesticide liability, chemical manufacturers, and modern agriculture that has sparked heated debate online and across farm country. We cut through the noise and explain what HB 0809 actually does, what it doesn't do, and why, contrary to viral claims, this bill does not open the door to more chemicals in your food or water. We walk through the realities of farming today, including how little crop protection products are actually used, when chemicals are applied, why timing matters, and how strict label laws already govern every single application farmers make. We also directly push back on claims made by Shawn Ryan, addressing the fear-based narrative that this bill would somehow amplify chemical exposure or increase cancer risk. We explain why that argument falls apart when you understand EPA labels, state regulations, applicator licensing, and modern agronomy practices. From there, we dig into the pros and cons of HB 0809, why some farmers support it, why others are skeptical, and what it could mean for lawsuits, ag innovation, and rural economies moving forward. Then we shift gears to one of the biggest frustrations in agriculture right now. The complete punt of E-15 ethanol from the bill. Farmer groups across the country are furious, and for good reason. We discuss: Why E-15 matters for corn farmers How many bushels of corn nationwide E-15 could realistically consume What kind of price impact it could have had on corn markets Why this was such a massive missed opportunity for rural America We close out the episode with a lighter but honest conversation about California, sharing our firsthand experience and why the state isn't nearly as one-dimensional as social media makes it out to be. Our Made in America segment takes a different turn this week as we highlight Cloudlifter, a U.S.-based company building rock-solid audio gear that podcasters and creators actually rely on because supporting American manufacturing doesn't stop at agriculture. In this episode, Drew and Josh discuss the world of anxiety cures and the "miracle" solutions often marketed to those struggling with panic, OCD, and health anxiety. They share personal stories of the various methods they tried during their own recoveries and explain why many popular trends fail to provide long-term relief. The Magnetism of the Miracle Cure: Why we are drawn to supplements like magnesium or specialized "breathing devices" when we are desperate to feel better.Control vs. Acceptance: How many anxiety cures are actually just hidden control strategies that prevent true psychological flexibility. The Reality of "Natural" Supplements: A look at the laxative effects of magnesium and the empty promises of "science-based" miracle powders. The "Secret" Rituals: Why techniques like EFT tapping or specialized humming might feel helpful in the moment but often reinforce the idea that anxiety is a danger to be managed. The Risks of "Gurus" and Online Cults: How to identify predatory marketing and why a "lived experience" qualification does not replace professional, evidence-based training. The guys break down why the search for an external fix often leads to more discouragement. They discuss how true recovery is found in learning to tolerate and be with difficult internal experiences rather than trying to engineer them away with bracelets, essential oils, or "secret" techniques. If a solution is marketed as a "miracle" or "what nobody tells you," be cautious.Recovery is an internal process of building distress tolerance, not an external process of finding the right product.Support people are there to cheer you on through the fear, not to keep you "safe" from a feeling.About Disordered: Drew Linsalata and Joshua Fletcher are therapists and authors who have both recovered from severe anxiety disorders. What really happens after the startup advice runs out and founders are left facing decisions no pitch deck ever prepared them for? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I sit down with Vijay Rajendran, a founder, venture capitalist, UC Berkeley instructor, and author of The Funding Framework, to discuss the realities of company building that rarely appear on social feeds or investor blogs. Vijay has spent years working alongside founders at the sharpest end of growth, from early fundraising conversations through to the personal and leadership shifts that scaling demands. That experience shapes a conversation that feels refreshingly honest, thoughtful, and grounded in lived reality. We explore why building something people actually want sounds simple in theory yet proves brutally difficult in practice. Vijay explains how timing, learning velocity, and the willingness to adapt often matter more than stubborn vision, and why many founders misunderstand what momentum really looks like. From there, the discussion moves into investor relationships, not as transactional events, but as long-term partnerships that require founders to shift their mindset from defense to evaluation. The emotional and psychological dynamics of fundraising come into focus, especially the moments when founders underestimate how much power they actually have in shaping those relationships. A big part of this conversation centers on leadership identity. Vijay breaks down the messy transition from being the "chief everything officer" to becoming a true chief executive, and why the most overlooked stage in that journey is learning how to enable others. We talk about the point where founders become the bottleneck, often without realizing it, and why this tends to surface as teams grow and decisions start happening outside the founder's direct line of sight. The plateau many companies hit around scale becomes less mysterious when viewed through this lens. We also challenge some of the most popular startup advice circulating online today, particularly around fundraising volume, pitching styles, and the idea that persistence alone guarantees outcomes. Vijay shares why treating fundraising like enterprise sales, focusing on alignment over volume, and listening more than pitching often leads to better results. The conversation closes with practical reflections on personal growth, co-founder dynamics, and how leaders can regain clarity during periods of pressure without stepping away from responsibility. If you are building a company, leading a team, or questioning whether you are evolving as fast as your business demands, this episode will likely hit closer to home than you expect. And once you've listened, I'd love to hear what resonated most with you and the leadership questions you're still sitting with after the conversation. Become a Munk Donor ($50 annually) to get 72-hour advanced access to full length editions of the Friday Focus podcast with Janice Stein. Go to www.munkdebates.com to sign up. Rudyard and Janice begin the show with the remarkable-sized TACO Trump delivered this week, whipping the world into a frenzy over threats to take over Greenland. His tough talk turned into a whimper after a meeting with the NATO Secretary General and a framework of a deal that has not been accepted by European leaders. What happened behind closed doors that made Trump back down from these threats? How did the bond market play into this? Meanwhile Mark Carney's Davos speech was well received by the European elite, but what is his plan for Canada? How will he enact sweeping and fundamental change in this country that match the substance of his speech? In the second half of the show Rudyard and Janice discuss an AI-generated video impersonating former UN Ambassador John Bolton discussing Mark Carney's China visit. The convincing video - which has been viewed over 180,000 times - is a reminder of how easily AI can be used by interference and influence campaigns by foreign governments. What if 2026 is the year we can't tell what's real and what's not?

In this powerful discussion, Jonathan Taplin (author of Move Fast and Break Things and The End of Reality) talks about his new essay for Rolling Stone. Taplin argues that healing America's broken spirit requires a new counterculture — rooted in physical scenes, liberal arts revival, and bold artistic resistance — before political reform can happen. From Bowie at the Berlin Wall to Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another,' he explores how culture has historically triumphed over repression... and whether it can again. On Christmas Eve, Elon Musk's X rolled out an in-app tool that lets users alter other people's photos and post the results directly in reply. With minimal safeguards, it quickly became a pipeline for sexualized, non-consensual deepfakes, including imagery involving minors, delivered straight into victims' notifications. Renée DiResta, Hany Farid, and Casey Newton join Kara to dig into the scale of the harm, the failure of app stores and regulators to act quickly, and why the “free speech” rhetoric used to defend the abuse is incoherent. Kara explores what accountability could look like — and what comes next as AI tools get more powerful. Renée DiResta is the former technical research manager at Stanford's Internet Observatory. She researched online CSAM for years and is one of the world's leading experts on online disinformation and propaganda. She's also the author of Invisible Rulers: The People Who Turn Lies into Reality. Hany Farid is a professor of computer sciences and engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He's been described as the father of digital image forensics and has spent years developing tools to combat CSAM. Casey Newton is the founder of the tech newsletter Platformer and the co-host of The New York Times podcast Hard Fork. This episode was recorded on Tuesday, January 20th. When reached for comment, a spokesperson for X referred us to a a statement post on X, which reads in part: We remain committed to making X a safe platform for everyone and continue to have zero tolerance for any forms of child sexual exploitation, non-consensual nudity, and unwanted sexual content. We take action to remove high-priority violative content, including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and non-consensual nudity, taking appropriate action against accounts that violate our X Rules. We also report accounts seeking Child Sexual Exploitation materials to law enforcement authorities as necessary. Questions? Comments? True spirituality is not about getting what you want or fixing the outside world, but learning to be okay inside by letting go of preferences, stored pain, and inner resistance. Reality unfolds through universal causes, not personal desires, and suffering comes from pitting yourself against what is. Enlightenment comes from witnessing your inner experiences without suppression, honoring all emotions, and living in harmony with, and selflessly serving, whatever life presents to you. © Sounds True Inc.
