Advent E3 — In the third week of Advent, we're reflecting on joy. Joy's not only a feeling based on circumstances but a rich biblical theme expressed in song, celebration, and even shouts of delight in all seasons of life. In the Hebrew Bible, words for joy appear most often in Psalms and describe communal feasts, temple offerings, and weddings. In these moments, joy is about remembering God's goodness in the past and anticipating his future rescue. The New Testament continues this story, with Luke and Acts in particular overflowing with joy at the arrival of the Messiah, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and the resurrection of Jesus. In this episode, Jon and Tim find the theme of joy everywhere in Scripture, even before God's work is ultimately finished.FULL SHOW NOTESFor chapter-by-chapter notes including summaries, referenced Scriptures, biblical words, and reflection questions, check out the full show notes for this episode.CHAPTERSThe Hebrew Words for Joy (0:00–15:24)Joy in Psalms, Songs, and Processions (15:24–24:55)New Testament Joy in Jesus and the Spirit (24:55–36:59)Reflections on Joy With Alena (36:59-41:21)OFFICIAL EPISODE TRANSCRIPTView this episode's official transcript.REFERENCED RESOURCESChara / Joy: Though not referenced directly in the episode, this 2017 video explores one of the biblical words for joy, chara.Check out Tim's extensive collection of recommended books here.SHOW MUSIC“I'll Be Warm This Christmas” by Lofi Sunday & TBabz“Joy” by Lofi Sunday & CRFT“Snowflakes” by AvesBibleProject theme song by TENTS SHOW CREDITSProduction of today's episode is by Lindsey Ponder, producer, and Cooper Peltz, managing producer. It's easy to stay in prep mode after being in it for so long. But today, I want us to remember that the wonder of any season, Christmas or otherwise, often shows up when we slow down. We'll talk about what it looks like to have eyes of wonder, and then I'll share some practices to help you notice the sparkle and wonder of the next couple of weeks and then some other practices to help you cultivate that practice of noticing all year long. Lower deficits and trade imbalances reduce economic pressures that drive up prices, potentially stabilizing costs for consumers and businesses. these figures signal improving fiscal health. For context, the U.S. deficit was around $1.7 trillion in 2024; dropping it by $600 billion would bring it closer to $1.1 trillion—a substantial cut that could ease long-term debt concerns and support lower interest rates. Lower inflation to 2% would mean steadier prices, boosting real wages and consumer confidence. The U.S. budget deficit is the annual shortfall when government spending exceeds revenue in a given fiscal year. The national debt is the total accumulated amount owed from all past deficits (plus interest), essentially the running total of borrowed money. https://twitter.com/GuntherEagleman/status/2000268781084348516?s=20 Political/Rights https://twitter.com/disclosetv/status/1999945168120848428?s=20 https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/2000177646072631506?s=20 https://twitter.com/sentdefender/status/2000142553815847148?s=20 https://twitter.com/HamasAtrocities/status/2000263382197481781?s=20 https://twitter.com/BNODesk/status/2000304813591118154?s=20 from pakistan https://twitter.com/disclosetv/status/2000160163282727197?s=20 https://twitter.com/TheBritLad/status/2000308891104797052?s=20 https://twitter.com/Currentreport1/status/2000199214870180153?s=20 https://twitter.com/C_3C_3/status/2000055847309791603?s=20 Brown University Shooting Suspect In Custody; Gunman “Yelled Something” Before Attack On Econ Classroom The shooter “yelled something” before the attack … Source: zerohedge.com https://twitter.com/nicksortor/status/2000264684180746600?s=20 authorities have detained the suspect in the Brown University shooting that occurred on December 13, 2025, which left two students dead and nine others injured. The person of interest, identified as 24-year-old Benjamin Erickson from Wisconsin (who is not a Brown student), was taken into custody early on December 14 at a hotel in Coventry, Rhode Island, about 15 miles from the campus. Officials have confirmed no other suspects are being sought, and the investigation is ongoing. A revolver and a small Glock handgun were recovered at the hotel. Guns aren't making us less safe and gun laws won't solve the problem. Most of our recent mass shootings had shooters who already violated gun laws to commit their crimes. The left wing culture in America, including mass migration is making us less safe. It's the root of our problem. Fix our regressive, hedonistic, violence and evil loving culture. That will fix America. We need our country to value strength, life, love, liberty, faith and family again. That's the antidote to the poison that creates a violence society. https://twitter.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/2000244040667676940?s=20 this morning, FBI Boston's Safe Streets Task Force, with assistance from the @USMarshalsHQ & the @Coventry_RI_PD , detained a person of interest in a hotel room in Coventry, RI, based off a lead by the @ProvidenceRIPD . TRULY WICKED: Obama Judge Lavishly PRAISES Illegal Alien Who R*ped and Sodomized Helpless Woman with Cerebral Palsy – Refuses to Add More Years to His Sentence The Detroit News reported on Friday that a violent illegal alien from Honduras who sexually assaulted a woman with cerebral palsy in a Michigan laundry room will be released from prison as early as July 2028, less than three tears from now thanks to a federal judge appointed by Barack Obama. The illegal, 30-year-old handyman Edys Renan Membreño Díaz was previously caught sneaking into the U.S. at least seven times since 2019. He pleaded guilty in 2022 to sexually assaulting the woman and was sentenced by Judge Judith Levy in August 2024 to time served. Calm down – it's not 1939. But it could end up just as bad. Today (13), it has been reported that Germany is sending soldiers to Poland, in a bid to ‘strengthen' NATO's eastern border with Belarus and Russia. Politico reported: “Several dozen German soldiers will join Poland's East Shield from April 2026, with the mission initially running until the end of 2027, Deutsche Welle reported, citing Berlin's defense ministry. German troops will focus on engineering work, according to a ministry spokesperson quoted in the report. The spokesperson described this as building positions, digging trenches, laying barbed wire and constructing anti-tank obstacles. .” Source: thegatewaypundit.com Zelenskyy offers to drop NATO bid for security guarantees but rejects US push to cede territory Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Zelenskyy on Sunday (December 14, 2025) voiced readiness to drop his country’s bid to join NATO in exchange for Western security guarantees, but rejected the U.S. push for ceding territory to Russia as he arrived in Berlin for talks with U.S. envoys on ending the war. Source: thehindu.com CIA Outlet Concerned About Kash Patel and Dan Bongino Meeting with Top Zelenskyy Officials It been reported that the FBI has been working closely with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in detecting and discovering corruption amid Ukraine officials who have skimmed money from various international aid programs. However, the Washington Post is suddenly concerned that FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino have held “secret meetings” with lead Ukraine peace negotiator Rustem Umerov. it is easy to get the sense that Rustem Umerov is in alignment with the U.S. proposals, but Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not. Hence, Zelenskyy keeps returning to his U.K, France, Germany and EU support network for counterproposals despite his officials like Umerov working with the U.S. team directly. This paragraph from within the WaPo (CIA) framework seems to tell a background story: […] “The meetings have caused alarm among Western officials who remain in the dark about their intent and purpose. Some said they believe Umerov and other Ukrainian officials sought out Patel and Bongino in the hopes of obtaining amnesty from any corruption allegations the Ukrainians could face. Others worry the newly established channel could be used to exert pressure on Zelensky's government to accept a peace deal, proposed by the Trump administration, containing steep concessions for Kyiv.” (more) Perhaps Zelenskyy's primary negotiator for the USA team, Rustem Umerov, has specific knowledge of corruption connected to the generous financial support the USA has provided Ukraine. Watching Yermak get taken down within the FBI/NABU investigation, might have triggered Umerov to cooperate on several levels. Umerov reported as happy with the negotiated U.S. terms. Volodymyr Zelenskyy openly not happy with the negotiated terms. This is worth watching. Matthew Klein now knows the truth. The advent calendar was not some random antique that found its way to his doorstep by chance. It was built with purpose. Built with intent. Constructed from the charred remains of his childhood home — and from the cursed spirit board that destroyed his family thirty years ago.Wilbur Ward, the neighbor who ran toward the flames that Christmas Eve, saw something in that fire. Something that changed him. Something that compelled him to salvage the blackened wood, retreat to his shed, and craft an object of precise and deliberate malevolence before vanishing without a trace. But knowing the calendar's origin answers only part of the question. The greater mystery remains: What does it want? Why Matt? And what happens when the final door is opened on Christmas Eve — the anniversary of the night his family burned alive?Thirteen doors have been opened. Thirteen horrors have been unleashed. A man drowned. A woman crushed. Snakes coiled in a child's bed. Blood erupted from impossible spaces. And now, scattered across an icy driveway in upstate New York, dozens of human teeth lie in the snow — each one a grim promise that the calendar is far from finished.Eleven doors remain. The smoky odor that haunts Marshport. The hooded figure glimpsed at crime scenes. The apparition of Steven, smelling of ash and demanding obedience. These pieces orbit the calendar like satellites around a dark star, and Matt is only beginning to understand how they connect. He came to Bayville seeking closure. Instead, he found confirmation that the evil which took his family never truly died. It waited. It planned. And through Wilbur Ward's hands, it built itself a new vessel — one designed specifically for Matthew Klein. The calendar has rules. Matt has learned what happens when they're broken. But as the days count down toward Christmas, a more terrifying question emerges: What happens when they're followed? What awaits at the end of this twisted game?December 14th arrives with Matt still standing in Nicole Ward's driveway, bloody teeth at his feet, the calendar clutched in his trembling hands. The car crash smolders nearby. The shed full of Wilbur's creations stands open behind him.And somewhere, in the shadows between what is known and what is coming, a beast watches.Get the print version of the novel: https://weirddarkness.com/AdventOfEvil#WeirdDarkness #ChristmasHorror #HolidayHorror #SupernaturalThriller #HauntedCalendar #DarkChristmas #HorrorStory #DemonicEvil #CreepyTales #YuletideTerror

It was Christmastime — a season of peace, light, and goodwill — which made the slow unraveling of their minds all the more disturbing.IN THIS EPISODE: Despite being in the middle of the first World War, on Christmas Day, 1914 British and German soldiers sang carols together, exchanged gifts with the enemy combatants, and supposedly even played a soccer game against each other in order to celebrate the holiday. (The Great War's Christmas Truce) *** The case was so mysterious it was even featured on TV's “Unsolved Mysteries” and “America's Most Wanted”: who committed the Christmas murder of Latricia White? And what happened to Lee and Chance Wackerhagen? (An Unsolved Christmas Murder Mystery) *** We're so used to seeing old St. Nick showing up with a big bag of toys for the kiddies – but what if he arrived with another bag full of switches for your parents to use the whole year through if you were on his naughty list? We'll look back at when Santa wasn't purely jolly and jovial, and when he arrived to dole out both presents and punishment! (Santa's Naughty List) *** The Los Feliz murder mansion became the site of a horrifying and sad Christmas tragedy for one California family. (Christmas At The Los Feliz Murder Mansion) *** A haunting holiday mystery took place in England in 1916 when a young bride simply disappeared without a trace. (The Vanishing Christmas Bride) *** A man tries to take on supernatural forces – and ends up as an undead creature who appears as a terrifying Yuletide spirit. In this fun and personal episode, I'm sharing what I actually want for Christmas this year — and spoiler alert: it's not much "stuff." From a sauna hat and a flip phone to natural fiber underwear (yes, really), I'm walking you through the practical, intentional, and meaningful things I'm excited about this season. I'm also opening up about some deeper shifts — like why we're keeping Christmas simple for the kids, what our upcoming bedroom swap means to me, and the kind of experiences I want to create around the dinner table. You'll also hear: Why I'm buying myself a flip phone How I'm thinking about "less is more" with kids' gifts The grain mill I can't wait to use What I want to create that can't be wrapped And why I'm leaning into connection over consumption this year This episode is all about intentionality over impulse, presence over presents, and creating a holiday season that feels peaceful, simple, and aligned with the life I want to build. If you're feeling the pull toward less doing, more being this Christmas — this one's for you.

Can Becca trust Logan's intentions?AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR CHRISTMAS IN BIG SKY COUNTRYDecembr 14 2025 | UPtvCAST & CREW OF CHRISTMAS IN BIG SKY COUNTRYRebecca Dalton as Becca CollinsOlivier Renaud as Logan JohnstonBRAN'S CHRISTMAS IN BIG SKY COUNTRY SYNOPSISWe meet Becca Collins, who runs Woof Moon. The company is not doing great. She's even taken an online business course, but it hasn't helped much. Then we meet Logan Johnston. He used to work in sales but has recently been promoted to PR at an oil rig company — despite the executives not believing he's the right fit for the job.Becca's brother-in-law works on an oil rig, and his communication suddenly gets cut off. Panicked, Becca calls the company and is connected to Logan. Logan doesn't really have any information. She calls back again, and Logan starts to feel guilty about how little he can offer.Wanting to do something meaningful, Logan decides to visit the family in person to reassure them and share what good news he can — that the workers are safe. He meets the family and tries to stick up for Big Oil. His boss then instructs him to take photos with the family to show that the company “cares.” Logan does, which upsets Becca. She gets over it fairly quickly when Logan returns to check on her. He offers to help update Woof Moon's website — web design is his real passion. They spend time together in the mountains and nearly kiss, until a kid shouts “EWWW!” from far away.Becca's brother-in-law eventually comes home safe — but then promptly goes back out to the rig to help a buddy. Because he's returning voluntarily, he won't be covered by insurance, and his family doesn't know. Logan does.Logan knows a lot more than he's letting on. His boss is pushing him to get the families of the remaining workers to sign paperwork that would essentially waive their rights. When Becca and her sister discover that Logan knew the truth, they're furious. But Logan has set up a radio system that allows them to communicate with the rig, so they reluctantly keep him around. They finally make contact, only to find that Becca's brother-in-law has his arm pinned under debris. Logan talks to him to keep him awake, and during the tense moment, he admits to Becca that he has feelings for her.Everything works out, the rescue is successful, and Becca and Logan finally kiss. In this episode, author, podcaster, and speaker Mary DeMuth returns to share the inspiration behind her latest work, which spotlights overwhelmed women in the Bible—women whose stories have often been minimized or overlooked. From Mary the mother of Jesus to Hagar to the widow with two mites, these women model faith, resilience, and wholehearted trust in God. We talk about how Christmas can be both beautiful and heavy. Mary opens up about her own seasons of overwhelm, from her water breaking on Christmas Eve to sleeping in a barn the week before Christmas. She reminds us that Mary, the mother of Jesus, lived through the deepest fears a mother can face, yet she remained faithful as a disciple. Here is some of what we cover: Why Christmas often heightens grief, trauma, and unmet longings The consumerism of the holiday season vs. the simplicity of God with us What Shalom really means: wholehearted, whole-bodied peace rooted in surrender Jesus' care for the overlooked, the aging, and the marginalized The definition of “Whelm” which refers to out-of-control stress, “overwhelmed” is that same stress amplified beyond capacity Connect with Mary DeMuth: Instagram: Mary DeMuth // Healing from Trauma (@marydemuth) Facebook: Mary DeMuth Website: Mary DeMuth Links Mentioned: Nobody's Mother: By Sandra Glahn 90-Day Bible Reading Challenge: By Mary DeMuth Most Misunderstood Women of the Bible: By Mary DeMuth The Most Overlooked Women of the Bible: By Mary DeMuth The Most Overwhelmed Women of the Bible: By Mary DeMuth Podcast - Pray Every Day Mary DeMuth Church Hurt Checklist Related Episodes: Building the Family You Never Had :: Mary DeMuth [Ep 156] Nobody's Mother :: Dr. Sandra Glahn [Ep 443] From Overwhelmed to Anchored: Replacing the Lies of Motherhood with God's Truth :: Erica Gwynn [Ep 544] Featured Sponsors: Green Chef: Go to Greenchef.com/ALONEGRAZA use the code ALONEGRAZA to get started with 50% off Green Chef + FREE Graza Olive Oil Set in your 2nd and 3rd boxes. A spooky story during the Christmas season has become traditional – and the modern ghost story was invented by the Victorians, who embraced the supernatural and tried to understand it. Ben Machell has investigated the history of ghost hunting and supernatural investigations since the mid-19th century for his new book, Chasing the Dark, and in this episode David Musgrove talks to Ben about the history of our passion for the paranormal. Despite the almost four-hour runtime of Part 5, the show must go on as the self-imposed Christmas deadline inches closer and closer. Andy and Brendan are once again joined by PJ and KVV to chat through a set of four events following Rory's win at the Masters. Before the Year in Review gets back underway, the four recap this week's biggest news: Alejandro Tosti's performance at PGA Tour Q-School. Everyone is giddy to have Tosti back for another season on the big tour and they commend him for fighting through Q-School for a second time. Andy, Brendan, and Kevin also discuss some late-breaking golf news regarding the National Links Trust and the Trump administration's plan to renovate the three public golf courses in Washington D.C. The Year in Review resumes with a look back at the RBC Heritage and the immediate wake of one of the greatest wins in golf history. PJ runs through a week's worth of Rory reactions before unveiling the important stuff, such as Grant Horvat's Barracuda exemption (unused) and Wesley Bryan's PGA Tour suspension (still seemingly ongoing). Justin Thomas returned to the winner's circle in Hilton Head, getting over the finish line for the first time since the 2022 PGA Championship. Andy is next up with the Zurich Classic, where Rory McIlroy made his return to golf in a team event alongside Shane Lowry. Andy rediscovers the backboarding that occurred at a disastrous Chevron Championship and the power outage that led to the golf world being exposed to a Champions Tour Sunday on national TV. He also shares that one of the great technological achievements of our time happened this week! Brendan has the honor of recapping PGA Tour history, as Scottie Scheffler burned down TPC Craig T. Nelson Ranch and tied the all-time scoring record in a runaway win. All that may be great, but Brendan is most excited about the children in attendance chanting while a bulldozer wrecked the practice green ahead of Lanny's renovation. KVV comes in to close things out again, handling the first-ever Truist Championship. His findings lead the group down a rabbit-hole of past HSBC photo shoots, complete with a flying Henrik Stenson and Yao Ming. The 2025 Year in Review returns on Wednesday with the long-awaited Rise of Rea.
We can get so caught up in the busyness, routine, and familiarity of Advent that we miss the main thing: Jesus isn't focused on Christmas past but on his return. On the 3rd Nightmare Before Christmas... On the sweltering evening of July 14, 1982, a call came into the Waco Police Department that would shatter the community's sense of safety. Two teenage boys, fishing near the shores of Lake Waco at Speegleville Park, had stumbled across a scene no one could have imagined. Beneath a tree lay a teenage boy. His hands were bound tightly behind his back, a gag shoved into his mouth, sunglasses still shielding his eyes. His chest had been punctured repeatedly. Moments later, officers discovered two more bodies scattered across the park. In that moment, Lake Waco would forever be etched in the memory of a town that had lost its innocence. In “The Christmas List,” Pastor Robert Madu reveals the true meaning of Christmas by exposing how Jesus' genealogy is filled with people we'd often try to hide or overlook. While we tend to showcase only our best selves, Jesus redeems the broken and imperfect, proving that the nativity scene is just a glimpse of a far greater story. For anyone who feels disqualified, the message is clear: God can use anyone. Grace does not work around humanity, it works through humanity. Thank you for partnering with Social Dallas! How is Pete preparing his turkey for Christmas dinner this year? By sticking it in the freezer, of course. Pray for his guests, particularly when it sounds like the rest of the day's food is going to be cooked in his airfryer.Elsewhere, and as the title suggests, the lads discuss several tales of food poisoning (unrelated to Pete's cooking, it has to be said), there's a good trip down memory lane discussing old video games and, for some reason, Pete attempted to close out the episode by speaking some Welsh.
