In this episode, we're doing something a little different. I'm opening up my private monthly book club discussion (usually just for Flying Higher members) and sharing it with you. This month we read the bestselling novel Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. We get into the tradwife aesthetic, performative Christianity, and the difference between a woman who genuinely loves a homemaking life and a system that demands every woman perform one. Key Takeaways:The reason the beautiful tradwife image is so seductiveThe most convincing performances usually start with a belief that's actually sincere. One character's storyline sparked a heated disagreement in the group about who gets to be "smart" in stories like this one, and why that distinction matters There's a subtle difference between a woman choosing a traditional role and a woman being conditioned into one, and it changes everything about how we respond to the trend. What does authentic faith look like once the performance stops? If you're a divorced Christian woman who loves self-development and learning new things, consider joining the Flying Higher community! Get Today's Free Resource:

Send us Fan MailDivorce doesn't just change a schedule, it can shake a child's sense of safety. That's why this conversation is for dads who feel the clock is working against them and who want a stronger, calmer relationship with their kids during separation and co-parenting.I'm joined by Elisabeth Stitt, an author, educator, and certified life coach who specializes in helping divorced dads and single dads build a stable home culture. We dig into the mindset shift that changes everything: when you have half the time, you have to be twice as intentional. Elisabeth explains why kids aren't actually chasing the house with the biggest TV or the most activities. What they want is predictability, clear expectations, and the steady feeling of “I know what it's like to be at Dad's house.”We also get practical. Elisabeth shares a simple tool many dads overlook: a household binder or planner that tracks school details, routines, schedules, and contacts so your kids never feel like they have to “wait for Mom's house” to feel oriented. Then we name two common traps in divorce parenting, guilt and bitterness, and how they can quietly drive decisions around bedtime, treats, control, and conflict. Finally, we talk about building a values-based home culture, so your parenting plan and custody time aren't just logistics, they're a foundation your kids can trust.Subscribe to Modern Family Matters, share this with a dad who needs it, and leave a review so more families can find real help when divorce gets hard.If you would like to speak with one of our attorneys, please call our office at (503) 227-0200, or visit our website at https://www.pacificcascadelegal.com.To learn more about Elisabeth and how she can help you, you can visit her website at: https://www.elisabethstitt.com/ or download her free guide at: https://dads.joyfulparentingcoaching.com/home-culture-pdfDisclaimer: Nothing in this communication is intended to provide legal advice nor does it constitute a client-attorney relationship, therefore you should not interpret the contents as such.

It's Tuesday, August 25th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Timothy Reed Indonesian pastor sentenced for citing Mohammed's polygamy An Indonesian pastor has been sentenced to two years in prison for pointing out Mohammad's polygamy. At the time of his death, the founder of Islam had nine wives. Dedi Saputra was falsely accused of “hostility, hatred or incitement” with a “potential of causing unrest.”  Like Dedi, the Apostle Paul ran into troubles along the way as well.  In Acts 17:4-5, Luke writes, “And some of them [in Thessalonica] were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas. “But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar.”     Surrogate mother speaks up for choosing life Baby Gabriel, the child in the middle of a massive rent-a-womb controversy, has survived his first heart surgery since being born two weeks ago. The child's surrogate mother, McKenna West, refused to abort him despite being sued by his biological parents, Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed. However, Baby Gabriel is now in the custody of the very parents who sought to have him killed!  In the New York Post, Miss West wrote, “No woman should be forced to kill the baby inside her. Most importantly, every child deserves a chance to live. As a cardiac nurse, I knew this little one had a great shot at survival if given the opportunity to receive the necessary treatment. “After I communicated to the contracting couple that I could not end this baby's life, their lawyer, and my own former lawyer, sent me letters threatening six-figure penalties if I didn't comply with their demand to terminate. The contracting couple cut off my payments, and I covered the rest of the pregnancy expenses myself.” Here's what Miss West told Lila Rose in the Live Action podcast.  WEST: “A diagnosis does not automatically mean that there is no hope or that somebody cannot live. But I knew that this baby boy that I was carrying, that I was feeling move, that he deserved that chance.” Listen to this word for our day from Exodus 22:22-24. “You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.  If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.” America and Canada at a stalemate in trade war The United States and Canada are in another trade war. The White House has announced that the U.S. will impose 50% tariffs on certain Canadian products like vehicles and steel imports. And now, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will “hit back.”  Here's what Carney said in a press conference on Saturday: “You're at war when you're attacked, and we got attacked.” He added this. CARNEY: “We cannot accept what they've offered and we will not give what they've asked.”  (Read the transcript of Carney's remarks) Trump added this on Truth Social on Sunday: “Canada wants the benefits of being a State, without being one!!! They have also charged our great farmers, for many years, massive amounts of tariffs. No more!!!” United States to buy back its own bonds to lower inflation U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the federal government will be buying back its own bonds in an effort to rein in inflation and reduce the interest on the bonds, reports CNBC. That means that the government will use its $1 trillion checking account -- which happens to be borrowed money to begin with -- to buy its long-term bonds, in an artificial attempt to reduce interest rates. U.S. debt topped $40 trillion The United States federal debt topped $40 trillion last week, reports CBS News. (Check out the eye-opening website www.USDebtClock.org) The market responded. According to Fortune Magazine, gold is back up to $4,650 an ounce and silver is scraping $70 an ounce. Condo prices sinking Condo prices are sinking like a rock in 33 major city markets including in Florida, California, Texas, Colorado, and Washington state.  Wolf Street estimates a 29% average drop since the 2022 peak. Add inflation into that and that's a 38% drop in condominium prices. Condo prices can signal housing stress before the rest of the market collapses.  Divorce rate up for those over 55 U.S. divorce rates are way up for people older than 55 years of age. In fact, they've doubled since 1990. And,  among those over 65, the divorce rate has increase five-fold since 1990.   A recent Bowling Green University study found that the 50+ crowd now accounts for nearly 40% of all people getting divorced. That was only 8% in 1990. 2032 is Social security depletion date The Social Security depletion date has moved up another three months, now targeted for 2032. The ratio of workers paying into Social Security per retiree has plummeted from more than 5-to-1 in 1960 to 2.9-to-1 today. Mel Gibson to release Resurrection movies in 2027 Film producer and director Mel Gibson is wrapping up a 10-year project — a production of the sequel for The Passion of the Christ. The project is slated to be released as a two-part series on the Resurrection sometime in March and May next year — Good Friday and Ascension Day on the Christian calendar. The films were shot in Rome. Spiderman: Brand New Day misuses God's name 16 times And finally, the blockbuster film, Spiderman: Brand New Day, is #1 at the box office for its fourth week -- now at $2.2 billion worldwide. That's a record for the franchise. But Focus on the Family's PluggedIn.com and Ted Baehr's MovieGuide.org both warn of foul language, the single most concerning drawback for families. God's name and Jesus' name are misused a total of 16 times in the movie.  Exodus 20:7 says, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, August 25th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Are women's dating standards really too high—or are women simply becoming less willing to accept relationships that don't add enough to their lives? In this episode, I dive into the ongoing debate about women being told to lower their standards in order to find or keep a partner. There's a big difference between expecting perfection and expecting communication, effort, respect, emotional availability and genuine partnership. So instead of immediately asking women what they're willing to lower, maybe we should also be asking whether some men are willing to raise what they're bringing to the relationship. - - - - - - - - Want that chapter checklist just Click Here! For generations, women were taught a fairly predictable story about creating a family: find the right person, get married, and then have children. But what happens when life does not follow that sequence? In this episode, Strategic Divorce Consultant Mardi Winder talks with bestselling author, speaker, life coach, and nonprofit founder Cheri Bergeron about motherhood, divorce, fertility, and creating a family on your own terms.Cheri shares her personal journey from believing she needed marriage to “earn the right to motherhood” to becoming a single mother by choice. She talks openly about fertility treatment, donor conception, becoming a mother in her 40s, and grieving the traditional family story she once expected while discovering that a different path could still create the family she deeply wanted. This is a hopeful conversation about self-trust, understanding your options, and recognizing that the end of a marriage does not necessarily mean the end of your dream of motherhood.Questions We ExploreQ: What if you are divorced and still want children?A: Divorce does not necessarily close the door on motherhood. Cheri discusses several paths that may be available and why learning about your options can help you make choices that reflect what you truly want.Q: Why is understanding fertility earlier in life so important?A: Cheri explains that many women learn about reproductive timelines much later than they wish they had. Understanding fertility and available options earlier can provide more opportunity to think intentionally about future family planning.Q: Can you become a mother later in life?A: Cheri shares her own experience with fertility treatment and donor eggs, including having children in her 40s. Individual circumstances vary, making personalized medical guidance an important part of exploring fertility options.Q: How do single mothers by choice talk with their children about their origins?A: Cheri believes openness, honesty, and age-appropriate conversations can help children understand their individual family story while building trust between parent and child.Q: What if the family you create looks nothing like the one you originally imagined?A: Cheri encourages women to allow themselves to grieve the traditional story they expected while remaining open to another possibility: different does not have to mean less meaningful.About the Guest:Cheri Bergeron is a former tech executive turned bestselling author, speaker, life coach, and nonprofit founder. After a 10-year struggle with divorce and infertility involving IVF, donor conception, genetic defects and child loss, she gave birth to her children in her mid 40s. Driven by these experiences, Cheri wrote the #1 Amazon bestseller Mission: Motherhood and started Cheri's Choice to help women navigate non-traditional paths to motherhood on their own terms—with clarity, confidence, and choice. To connect with Cheri:Website: https://www.cheribergeron.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/missionmotherhoodLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cheribergeron/About the HostMardi Winder is a Strategic Divorce Consultant and High-Conflict Divorce Coach who helps high-achieving individuals navigate divorce with clarity, confidence, and control. In this episode I get into bids for connection, the Gottman Institute's term for the small moments when your partner reaches out to you, and why how often you turn towards them is one of the biggest predictors of whether a couple stays together or gets divorced. I go through the newlywed research that followed couples for six years and sorted them into masters and disasters, and the part that actually matters, which is not catching every bid but going back to repair the ones you miss. I talk about the emotional bank account, Alexis Fernandez's tennis ball, the bird theory trend and Robert Irwin's answer to it, and why the phone is the biggest killer of all of it. I go into the year I spent making big grand gestures while missing the small ones, and what changed in the two weeks before I recorded this. This one was made with Denza. We packed the B5, drove up into the hinterland and set camp for the night, and that is where the episode was recorded. The cooler in the centre console kept the sandwiches cold on the way up, the boot is spacious and fits everything we need and this car is just such a pleasure to drive. Thanks DENZA Gold Coast. There's a name for the path forward: parallel parenting. Susan Guthrie welcomes divorce and recovery coach Dr. Courtney Evans, who has lived through high-conflict co-parenting herself and now helps others build the boundaries that get them out of it. The reading centers on someone weighing a stable but unfulfilling relationship against the pull of a new connection, with the cards pointing toward an eventual parting of ways.Beyond the reading itself, the episode offers grounded advice for anyone facing this decision — including the value of taking solo time away (a solitary weekend trip, not a girls' trip) to think clearly before making a major life choice. The discussion also touches on the emotional and practical realities of divorce: co-parenting, re-entering the dating pool, protecting your health, and navigating the mix of freedom and complexity that comes after a breakup. The episode wraps with three “sweet and spicy” channeled messages, a shoutout to a recent press mention, and a call for listener reviews.https://elevatesociety.com/love-sex-and-tarot-podcast-review/⚠️ These are performances and for entertainment purposes only. When a marriage ends and serious money, property, power, lawyers, and years of history are involved, divorce can turn into something much bigger than two people simply going their separate ways. We break down the Overdeck divorce battle and use it to ask some bigger questions: Does money make divorce uglier? When does protecting yourself become trying to destroy your ex? Should everything earned during a marriage really be split? And can anyone actually "win" a divorce? Then we call up some friends and get their opinions on money, marriage, prenups, resentment, revenge, and what happens when love turns into a legal war. Josh shares what he's most grateful for as a father, why mental well-being deserves as much attention as physical health, and how vulnerability can become a strength instead of a liability. We also talk about the values he learned growing up in a tight family routine: consistency, discipline, respect, and a work ethic modeled through sacrifice. Then we go deeper into divorce, co-parenting, and the grit required to stay present when life gets complicated. Josh opens up about the commitment he made to his son, the emotional reality of Sunday drop-offs, and what it means to create a positive home even when you're hurting. From there, we shift into blended family life and “bonus kids,” what helped him build trust quickly, and why he sees a bigger family as more love, not more problems. Along the way, we hit practical leadership lessons for the home: respond instead of react, apologize when you miss, and parent each child as an individual with their own needs. We also spotlight Josh's professional world at CoWorx Staffing Services and how they think about staffing, retention, safety, and employee engagement through a service-first model. If you're a working dad trying to lead with humility, curiosity, and steadiness, you'll get plenty to take back to your own household. Divorce attorney James Sexton is back for part two of his conversation with Nicole; in part one, he talked about advice for couples getting married. Today, he's giving advice for people getting divorced. Nicole and James dig into the financial habits that sabotage marriages, the creative ways people hide money before filing, and the red flags that signal a spouse might be planning an exit. Plus, James gives simple advice on what might be the most complicated part of this process: how to tell your spouse you want a divorce. James also breaks down how alimony actually works, the best argument for keeping the house, and the negotiating tactics he uses to fight for a bigger settlement. Then things get spicy: the digital footprint mistakes blowing up divorces in real time, the unofficial "a-hole tax" judges impose on bad behavior in court, and the wild story of a $20 million divorce that almost collapsed over a toaster oven.
