Today we talk to Caterina Giorgi, the CEO of the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) about the crucial role FARE plays in Australia in commissioning research on alcohol harm and advocating for essential changes to Australia's alcohol laws and policies. We cover a lot in this episode, including the alarming ways alcohol advertising targets young kids, how pervasive alcohol marketing is, the destructive effects of alcohol consumption across different demographics and the significant role alcohol plays in family violence. Caterina explains the manipulative tactics of alcohol companies, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the powerful lobbying efforts that resist necessary regulatory changes to protect our most vulnerable communities from alcohol harm. We also discuss the changing landscape of alcohol consumption in Australia, celebrating the positive trends among young people who are increasingly choosing an alcohol-free lifestyle but also the troubling increase in alcohol-related health issues among older generations. Listen as we highlight FARE's Voices of Change program, the success stories of community activism, and the ongoing need for advocacy to create healthier environments for everyone. Vivian Dittmar is an author, speaker, and wisdom teacher dedicated to enhancing holistic development for over two decades. Through her books and the Be the Change Foundation, she focuses on emotional intelligence, ecological sustainability, social justice, and spiritual fulfillment to address modern society's crises.  What does it mean to truly transcend the ego and embrace a transpersonal state of being?  In this episode of “Voices with Vervaeke,” John Vervaeke and Vivian Dittmar thoughtfully explore enlightenment, viewing it not as a final destination but as an ongoing journey of maturation and integration. They challenge conventional perspectives on enlightenment, proposing a more dynamic interplay between personal growth and spiritual awakening. By examining the delicate balance required to maintain higher states of consciousness while cultivating a healthy personal self, they illuminate the complexities of spiritual bypassing and the necessity of embracing imperfection. In 2020, just days before a forced lock down caused by a global pandemic, Dr. Casey performed her one-woman show in the Big Apple for the largest non-profit nation-wide, AARP New York. Casey brilliantly used the story of her own trauma-ridden life to give hope to a sold-out crowd. This performance shined the light on arts efficacy as a tool for mitigating trauma impact. Following her New York show, the close of theatres throughout the world brought an abrupt halt to Casey's live performances, a pivotal moment that prompted Dr. Casey to relaunch her artistic focus to address a more pressing societal need: trauma impact resolution. Toward this end, Casey leveraged the ARTS for therapeutic purposes, and in 2020, she founded UnGun® Institute, where the display of synergy between applied arts and trauma healing could be maximized and experienced by the masses. In the span of just two years, Dr. Casey and her Team have presented UnGun® workshops for organizations such as Preferred Family Healthcare (St. Louis, MO); St. Louis Public Schools (St. Louis, MO); Blessed are the Peace Makers and National Black Police Association (Dallas, TX); The Peace Center (Bathe, Maine); St. Louis Service Women's Post 404 (St. Louis, MO), To date, nearly 10,000 people have been positively impacted by UnGun® methodology and strategies. An ode to her entertainment roots and with expected impact on the entertainment industry, UnGun® products have been numerously featured inside the Gifting Suites of the Oscars and the Emmy Awards. Her message of healing and now her trademarked UnGun® approach for mitigating the impact of trauma have landed Dr. Casey on stages beyond the theatre to broader spaces that include government, education, business, healthcare, and community-based sectors. She has represented the UnGun® Institute as a featured presenter for the Parliament of the World's Religion Global Conference; World Unity Week; World Peace Week; Alex Haley Museum; American Voice Foundation; General Congress of Women; African American Museum; Chosen for Change Foundation; The Michael O.D. Brown Foundation; and Shoot for the Stars Foundation (Hip Hop Artist Pop Smoke Memorial Foundation) to name a few. Featured on the cover of the St. Louis Business Journal, Dr. Casey is lauded as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Businesswomen in St. Louis. In 2021, she received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award signed by President Joseph R. Biden. Dr. Casey actively serves on the Grants Council for PurposeEarth.com in alignment with her mission to heal communities through the empowerment of recovery through expressive arts. Globally recognized as a transformational trauma coach, Dr. Marty K. Casey remains committed to equipping as many people possible with strategies, tools, and techniques for eradicating harmful responses to trauma that wreak havoc on families, communities, and the world, at large. https//www.unguninstitute.com Support the showDevelop the Leader in YOU - Enroll in Classes on www.ileadacademy.net IG @BishopDudleyPHDFB @BishopDudleyPHDhttps://linktr.ee/bishopgvd

Roberts experienced drug addiction and chronic homelessness as a youth and entered drug treatment in 1991. Roberts worked in sales and web development before he became an inspirational keynote speaker. Roberts is the author of four books. Joe Roberts was born November 25, 1966 and was raised in Midland, Ontario. Roberts' father died in 1975 when Roberts was 8. Roberts struggled with low self-esteem. At the age of nine, he started using drugs and quickly moved on to alcohol, marijuana, LSD, cocaine, and eventually heroin. He left home at 15 due to family conflict and the inability to get along with his stepfather.[1] After being imprisoned at 16, he dropped out of Barrie North Collegiate at 18 and began regular intravenous drug use. At 19, Roberts relocated to British Columbia and found himself homeless on the streets of Vancouver's Eastside, pushing a shopping cart and collecting recyclables to support his drug dependency. Shortly before Christmas in 1989, Roberts contacted his mother (who was located in Midhurst, Ontario) and she helped him relocate back to Ontario. After a suicide attempt, prevented and intervened by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Constable Scott MacLeod. Joe entered the Alcohol and Drug Intensive Treatment Program in Belleville, Ontario in 1991. Roberts then applied and was accepted into the Business and Marketing Program at Loyalist College. He graduated in 1995, and then returned the following year for the Business Sales program. He graduated on the Dean's list and won the Laurie H. Cameron Memorial Award for academic excellence [2] with a combined GPA of 3.94. Due to success in business, Roberts received the Ontario Premier's Award for College Graduates (Business)[3] and as a result an annual bursary was created in Roberts' name at Loyalist College: The Joe Roberts – Courage to Change Bursary.[4] This bursary is awarded to a mature student who has overcome life obstacles and returned to school.[4] --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tango-romeo/message

For this week's episode Krista is joined by Mark Johnson, award-winning music producer, filmmaker, and co-creator of Playing for Change, a movement which aims to unite people through music. Mark explains how the idea for Playing for Change came to him in a subway station in New York when he noticed a diverse group of people gathered around a couple of busking monks. In that moment, he realized that some of the best music in the world could be heard in the subway rather than in the studio and that when the music was playing the barriers that normally divide people disappeared. That experience inspired Mark to bring his studio recording equipment to the streets and he set out on a journey across America recording and filming street musicians. Later, the concept of Songs Around the World was born, and a small crew began traveling the world creating a virtual collaboration between musicians. Today, Playing for Change is approaching one billion views on its YouTube channel and has established the Playing for Change Foundation, a nonprofit organization which provides free music education programs in eleven countries. Mark believes that the unique ability of music to move us lies in its power to speak to the heart and help people realize they are not alone. Most importantly, music transcends barriers of race, religion and gender and can be a profound source of solace and joy in a divided world. As well as showcasing the talent of street musicians, Playing for Change works with established artists such as Ringo Starr and Bono, and one of Mark's proudest moments came when Keith Richards contacted him to feature in a Song Around the World. Mark continues to thrive on the challenge of recording live music in far-flung, and often dangerous, places. His motto is success through perseverance, and he believes that good things will happen if you just keep going. His next step will be to organize an online Playing for Change Music Festival with performances from musicians, poets, and students from the Playing for Change schools. To listen to the Playing for Change music, learn more about the movement and support the nonprofit foundation by becoming a member, visit https://playingforchange.com, https://playingforchange.org/ or visit their Youtube page. Hey everyone, Alex Kheyson here. In this podcast episode I am discussing the following: Why most people focus on what they see above the surface and expect great things come to them, without considering or thinking about the 'roots', foundation, what is beneath the surface? We expect things just come to us, money, wealth, job, and success, but we are not willing to work to get it. Let's focus on building our foundation in few simple steps, in order to get the life and future that we want for ourselves. Stop blaming others for your failures, or lack of happiness, start doing, go after what you want and show the world what you are capable of.
