There is a new documentary coming out about Olympic breakdancer and academic, Raygun, and we don't know how we're going to be able to wait for its release. In the meantime, we talk about Amanda Knox's decision to try her hand at comedy, and why we think maybe she should do literally anything else. We debate whether it's inappropriate for her to make light of a murder or whether being wrongfully accused means she is a victim too, thus giving her more freedom to make jokes. We hear about a golf cheater and how his life is ruined over the dumbest lie ever told. We find out about an uber driver who has been in jail for years for accidentally transporting marijuana. We debate the rights of a surrogate who refused to terminate her pregnancy despite the agreement she'd made with the birth parents. We discuss why microwave beeps are so annoying. We hear about a football team who used "color theory" to intimidate their opposition in the locker room. We find out why wedding gifts in Japan have less value now and we learn why reading literally any book makes you less likely to die.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)TDM-RESERVATION: 1. Christopher Ryan, Ph.D is a big thinker buddy of mine who is a van lifer, wisdom dispenser, troublemaker, host of the podcast Tangentially Speaking, and co-author of Sex at Dawn and Civilized to Death. Even before co-authoring the New York Times best-seller, Chris was on a wild ride. After receiving a BA in English and American literature in 1984, he spent the next two decades traveling around the world, pausing in unexpected places to work at decidedly odd jobs (e.g., gutting salmon in Alaska, teaching English to prostitutes in Bangkok and self-defense to land-reform activists in Mexico, managing commercial real estate in New York's Diamond District, helping Spanish physicians publish their research). In his mid-30s, Chris decided to pursue doctoral studies in Psychology. Drawing upon his multi-cultural experience, Chris' research focused on distinguishing the human from the cultural, first by focusing on shamanism and ethnobotany—studying how various societies interact with altered states of consciousness and the sacred plants that provoke them—and later, by looking at similarly diverse cultural perspectives on sexuality. If you dig this podcast, will you please leave a short review on Apple Podcasts? Sex is everywhere. It shapes culture, relationships, health, identity, and how we connect, yet somehow it remains one of the hardest things for us to talk about honestly. This week on ALLSMITH, Bryce sits down with Wendy Strgar, founder of Good Clean Love, author, entrepreneur, and longtime advocate for better conversations around sexual health, intimacy, and lasting love.We explore why sex still carries so much discomfort and shame, what happens to desire in long-term relationships, how our bodies and relationships change with age, the influence of porn and modern culture, women's sexual health, and why great intimacy might have far less to do with performance than we think. This isn't just a conversation about sex. It's a conversation about communication, curiosity, vulnerability, health, and learning how to love another human being well.IN THIS EPISODEWhy we're still uncomfortable talking about sexSexual shame and where it comes fromWhy desire changes in long-term relationshipsLove vs. attractionMismatched libidoSex, marriage, and parenthoodPorn and modern expectationsPerformance vs. genuine intimacyWomen's sexual health and the vaginal microbiomeHormones, aging, and changing bodiesCommunication and emotional safetyWhat it takes to sustain loveWhat it actually means to be a great loverBIG IDEASSex is everywhere. Modern Pleasure Podcast

What happens when one partner wants sex and the other doesn’t? Mismatched desire- or desire discrepancy is one of the most common issues Dr. Jenni Skyler and Daniel Lebowitz see among couples, and it’s a topic they’re asked about again and again. For this special episode of Sex and the Psyche, we’re turning the tables and putting Jenni and Daniel in the hot seat! Our friend Karen Bigman, host of Taboo to Truth, generously invited Jenni and Daniel onto her podcast for a candid conversation about desire discrepancy, intimacy, shame, and the challenges couples face when their libidos don't match. We’re so grateful to Karen for allowing us to replay this conversation here on Sex and the Psyche, giving our listeners a chance to hear Jenni and Daniel as guests and get a behind-the-scenes look at how they answer the questions they’re usually the ones asking. In this first part of the two-part conversation, Jenni and Daniel explore why desire discrepancy happens, what it can look like in long-term relationships, and why the partner with lower desire is never simply “the problem.” They also talk about why some men shut down or go silent when they’re struggling sexually, how shame can take over in the bedroom, and how the right words can open the door to a much more honest and compassionate conversation between partners. A huge thank-you to Karen Bigman and Taboo to Truth for sharing this conversation with our Sex and the Psyche audience. Be sure to listen to Part 2 for more of Jenni and Daniel in the hot seat! And while you're at it, check out Taboo to Truth wherever you listen to podcasts. You may discover your next favorite show! In a swap with Heather Shannon of Sex for Couples, Zach is the guest, and the conversation goes straight at a question most couples never ask out loud: what is sex actually for, and does that answer change over the life of a marriage? Zach, who's been married almost thirty years, and Heather dig into why frequency becomes the default target when quality and clarity would serve couples better. The conversation moves through the different eras a long marriage passes through, the anthropological reasons couples tend to hit a reset every few years, and the idea that any long marriage is really four or five different marriages stitched together. Zach shares specific, practical scenes from his own relationship, including a three hour float down a river with his wife where they talked about sex without ever touching, and describes a couple in his practice who solved their standoff by simply negotiating who gets what on which night. Heather brings in patterns she sees in her own client work, particularly the tendency to take sexual disconnection personally and the exhausting decision fatigue around initiating. Together they name two questions Zach uses to open nearly every session on this topic: what's it for, and what counts. The takeaway isn't a technique. It's a shift in framing, from sex as an obligation or a performance with a pass or fail outcome, to sex as something couples can actually get better at on purpose, the same way they'd get better at any skill they cared about. For anyone who's felt the pressure of "we should be having more sex" without ever stopping to ask what sex is supposed to accomplish, this conversation gives language for that gap, and permission to define it differently.Key TakeawaysFrequency is the wrong target. The better question is whether the sex you're having is actually good, and whether you're willing to get better at it on purpose.Sex is a skill, not a talent you either have or don't. It can be learned, practiced, and improved the same way any hobby can.Ask "what counts?" Narrow definitions of sex (intercourse only, simultaneous orgasm only) create a lot of ways to fail and very few ways to succeed.Intimacy is broader than sex. Physical closeness that isn't sexual, and sexual conversation that isn't physical, both count and both matter.Spontaneity is a myth for anything you actually care about. Couples plan meals, workouts, and sleep. Sex deserves the same intentionality. When you don't want sex, get specific about what you don't want. It's rarely your partner. It's more often boredom, exhaustion, or feeling obligated.A long marriage isn't one marriage. It's several different eras, and checking in roughly every three years, with a therapist or a trusted person, helps couples pivot into the next one.The most durable relationship habit isn't avoiding conflict, it's getting good at repair, and doing more of what your partner likes while doing less of what they don't.Guest InfoThis episode centers on a conversation between Zach and Heather Shannon, LCPC, CST (she/her), an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and host of the podcast Sex for Couples. Heather refers to working directly with clients around sex and communication in relationships throughout the conversation.Listen to Sex For Couples: podfollow.com/askasextherapistWebsite: HeatherShannon.coSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The Pleasure Zone with Milica Jelenic - Diamond Host Whether you are craving a person that is unavailable or an experience that is unavailable, what is it about the unavailable that has it be so much more interesting? People often have a craving for the unavailable and it can be for many different reasons. In this episode we will explore: The neuroscience behind cravings Do people just like having a craving, or does it need to be fulfilled When can a craving become an obsession How to stop craving the unavailable Join Milica Jelenic, Sex & Intimacy Coach, Holistic Health Practitioner on this episode of The Pleasure Zone where we will discuss, "Craving The Unavailable". 5 Key Takeaways Craving the unavailable can feel safer than having a real relationship. Fantasy allows you to desire someone without facing the vulnerability, responsibility, and effort of actually being together. Inconsistent attention can intensify craving. Small moments of attention or affection can create powerful dopamine highs that keep you wanting the next interaction. Ask whether you're craving the person or the feeling they give you. You may actually be seeking the attention, validation, excitement, connection, or emotional high associated with them. Separate the fantasy from the reality. Ask whether you would genuinely want the relationship—with its incompatibilities, expectations, vulnerabilities, and everyday realities—if that person suddenly became available. Choose yourself first. Identify what you believe this person will give you and begin fulfilling those needs within yourself instead of making them responsible for filling the void. Caller Questions & Discussion: Marc explains that sometimes one partner in a married couple takes sex off the table because they're resentful and angry. But when sex is withheld, that feels like an abandonment. Sex is not for one person to suppress but for both to address. How do I deal with finding vulgar texts on my disabled girlfriend's phone from a pastor? I help her with daily tasks. At first, she didn't tell me the truth, but she now says the pastor forced her to have sex. My son just told me I couldn't come into his house and that his wife and his granddaughter are his priority. My adult kids caused a rift in my marriage, and I'm divorced now. They treat me like an outcast. I need to let them go. How can I process this family conflict? I lost my husband of 21 years last year to pancreatic cancer and have a hard time moving on. I don't like to go anywhere by myself, and I'm having a hard time having conversations with the opposite sex. How do I find a counselor? My wife says I don't have her back. She makes smart remarks back to people and their remarks get very explicit. Then she asks me why I don't say anything. How do I handle this?

Unpacking a viral clip about reassurance and a fascinating study on neurodivergence, he breaks down why modern society is experiencing a spike in trauma, how our brains are wired to prioritize bad experiences, and why we need to change how we screen for trauma in neurodivergent individuals. What to expect in this episode: Reassuring the Reassurance-Seeker: Why asking for reassurance about needing reassurance is a common loop, and why providing it is actually the easiest job in the world if you embrace a supportive, loving mindset. The Power of Stable Relationships: How borderline personality disorder (BPD) remission rates show that consistent, long-term reassurance actually works, with 50% of individuals recovering within two years of a stable relationship and up to 98% in remission after 16 years. The Candy Bar Metaphor & Dr. K's Real-Time Epiphany: A look at an adopted child's food insecurity and why the typical parental response—confiscating hidden food—accidentally reinforces the trauma of scarcity rather than resolving it. What Social Support Actually Means: Why social support isn't just having people physically around you, but is specifically the ability to safely re-engage with your trauma triggers without your survival instincts taking over. Why We Hold Grudges (The 3-to-10x Brain Bias): How the human brain is neurologically wired to weigh a single negative experience three to ten times more heavily than a positive one, meaning it takes massive amounts of positive validation to undo a single betrayal. The Erosion of Social Safety Nets: How remote work, blocking culture, and rage-bait algorithms on social media are actively preventing us from having the "corrective emotional experiences" required to heal from trauma. The Autism Trauma Gap: Why up to 47% of women and 70% of men on the spectrum suffer from PTSD caused by "non-traditional" traumas—like bullying, public vomiting, loss of a pet, or even psychological therapy itself—that neurotypical individuals easily bounce back from. A New Clinical Burden of Proof: Why Dr. K now operates under the assumption that late-diagnosed ADHD patients have a mood disorder, and autistic adults have trauma, until clinically proven otherwise. A tarot reading dives into the emotional weight of leaving a marriage with kids involved — plus practical advice on self-care, clarity, and moving forward.Episode SummaryThis week's episode of Love, Sex and Tarot tackles one of the toughest questions in relationships: whether to stay or leave when kids and family are involved. The reading centers on someone weighing a stable but unfulfilling relationship against the pull of a new connection, with the cards pointing toward an eventual parting of ways.Beyond the reading itself, the episode offers grounded advice for anyone facing this decision — including the value of taking solo time away (a solitary weekend trip, not a girls' trip) to think clearly before making a major life choice. The discussion also touches on the emotional and practical realities of divorce: co-parenting, re-entering the dating pool, protecting your health, and navigating the mix of freedom and complexity that comes after a breakup. The episode wraps with three “sweet and spicy” channeled messages, a shoutout to a recent press mention, and a call for listener reviews.https://elevatesociety.com/love-sex-and-tarot-podcast-review/⚠️ These are performances and for entertainment purposes only. A tornado once knocked out every stoplight at a busy intersection, and in seconds it was total chaos — not because any driver was better than another, but because nobody had a system for who goes first. In the final week of Sex, Love, Work and War, we open Ephesians 5 to talk about marriage — submission, sacrificial love, and the "if" that quietly wrecks more relationships than anything else.Along the way: why biblical submission isn't degrading (hint: Jesus did it too), what it means for a husband to be the "head" of his home, and why the two little letters I-F might be the most dangerous word in any marriage.Whether you're happily married, barely hanging on, single and content, or still looking for the one, this message is for anyone who's ever wondered if there's a better way to love someone for the long haul. There is — and it starts with grace, not conditions.

Most of life runs on a deal: you give me this, I'll give you that. Marriage is the one relationship that was never supposed to work that way — and yet it's so easy to slide into keeping score anyway. In Week 3 of Sex, Love, Work and War, we open Ephesians 5 to ask what it actually looks like to love and respect someone with no conditions attached.Along the way: why couples who deeply love each other can still feel completely unloved, why every guy secretly wants to be a hero, and why the real question isn't "would you die for your spouse?" but "what does love look like on an ordinary Tuesday?"This isn't a message about trying harder to have the perfect marriage. It's about a God who didn't wait for us to go first — and what changes in a marriage when that's the model.

Analyzing this tragedy from his perspective as an MGH-trained psychiatrist, he separates social media sensationalism from medical reality. Dr. K dives deep into the neurobiology of the postpartum period, the terrifying reality of clinical psychosis, and how a fragmented healthcare system failed everyone involved. What to expect in this episode: The Postpartum Reality & Motherhood Pressures: How hormonal and physiological shifts, like changes in progesterone, estrogen, and oxytocin, can completely alter a woman's emotional baseline and blunt her normal fear centers. Dr. K explains the immense pressure on new mothers to feel instant love and perfection, which can lead to severe isolation when they instead feel overwhelmed or disconnected. The "Edge of the Cliff": Why hundreds of thousands of women are rallying behind Lindsay Clancy. Dr. K notes that many mothers recognize how close they themselves came to the "edge of the cliff" during their own postpartum periods, and how a complete lack of support and deep shame can make suicide feel like a logical escape. The Science of Postpartum Psychosis: How postpartum psychosis is far more common than society thinks—affecting 1 to 3 out of every 1,000 live births, translating to roughly 20 women every single day in the US. Dr. K breaks down how first-episode bipolar disorder often remains hidden until uncovered by postpartum changes. What Psychosis Actually Feels Like (The "EASE" Scale): An eye-opening explanation of clinical psychosis utilizing the Examination of Anomalous Self-Experience (EASE) scale. Dr. K describes severe delusions like Capgras Syndrome (believing loved ones are imposters) and the Cotard Delusion (the belief that you or your organs are already dead) to show how profoundly a psychotic brain distorts reality. A Fragmented Medical System: How the American healthcare system failed to protect Lindsay, featuring a cocktail of 12 prescribed psychiatric drugs and a psychiatrist who only had 17 minutes to evaluate her due to insurance constraints. Dr. K examines how having 6 to 7 independent providers who never talk to each other creates a recipe for tragedy. Echo Chambers & Algorithmic Realities: How social media platforms and algorithms divide us by feeding us entirely different "data points," causing people to live in separate realities and jump to extreme, ungrounded conclusions with absolute certainty. How to Handle a "Cooked" World: Dr. K's psychological steps to combatting hopelessness. He explains why hope is tied to autonomy, not outcomes, and how admitting your own ignorance is the first crucial step toward introducing the cognitive flexibility needed to change your life.
