When we hear the word foreplay, most of us immediately think about the bedroom. But intimacy in marriage was never meant to be confined to a single moment behind closed doors. Today, we're talking about foreplay 24/7/36 the idea that emotional, spiritual, and relational connection is built continually, hour by hour, day by day. We'll explore how intentional connection outside the bedroom sets the stage for deeper intimacy inside it, why this matters so much for the health of our marriage, and how small, everyday choices can radically change the temperature of our relationship. Episode Highlights: What happens in the bedroom is directly affected by what happens outside the bedroom. There are five types of intimacy that every strong marriage needs. The goal is not perfection, it's progress. Quotes from this Episode: When couples neglect the other four intimacies and they only focus on the physical the relationship becomes transactional sex becomes about physical release instead of real connection. - Dr. Kim That's often how affairs begin, not with physical attraction, but with unmet emotional needs. - Dr. Kim When intimacy is only in the bedroom, the temperature of the marriage runs cold. - Dr. Kim Replace bad patterns with good ones. Don't just stop the negative, start positive. Instead of scrolling, ask about their day. Instead of logistics, share something you're grateful for about them and finally give each other grace. -Dr. Kim When you come home, prioritize your spouse above anything else. -Dr. Kim When there's unresolved tension, when there's hurt or anger or distance, that vulnerability feels unsafe. -Dr. Kim Awkward is better than distant. Have the conversation. -Dr. Kim Intimacy isn't built in a single grand gesture. It's rebuilt, one conversation, one touch, one prayer at a time. -Dr. Kim Questions Worth Discussing: What's one moment from today (or this week) where we felt connected—or disconnected—and why do you think that was? Did anything in the episode help you see everyday moments differently when it comes to intimacy or connection? What's one small thing we could do differently this week to stay more connected outside the bedroom? Mentioned in this Episode: Awesome Marriage is on Instagram! Until 2013, when a basement renovation uncovered something buried behind a false wall. Had JoAnn never left Poughkeepsie? Or even her home on Vassar Road? In this episode we unravel the decades long mystery, the suspicious story that never quite added up, and the haunting discovery that came far too late for justice. Some secrets don't stay buried. You've tried the breathing techniques. You've experimented with new positions. Maybe you've even invested in pelvic floor exercises. We're talking about the invisible labor in relationships, the mental load, the admin side of life, the planning, the remembering, the organizing and how it quietly erodes desire. Because here's the truth: When one partner is carrying the mental checklist of the household, foreplay doesn't feel sexy… it feels like another task. "Sometimes popping two gummies on vacation helps us have really great sex!" "I really need that glass of wine to get me in the mood!" "Smelling alcohol on your breath is such a turnoff!" As couples and sex therapists, we've talked to thousands of partners about how alcohol and substances affect their relationships. Sometimes couples report that alcohol is a major block to sexual connection, others share that it can help them get out of their heads and make sex more enjoyable. In your relationship, is alcohol a gas pedal or a brake? Meaning it turns you on and helps with desire, arousal, orgasm or it shuts you down and you withdraw from sex. If seeing your partner drunk is a sexual brake, you may feel rejected by their advances because they wouldn't typically act like that sober. If alcohol is a gas pedal, you may feel your inhibition lower and it's more comfortable to access thoughts about sex and connection to your body. Listen to this episode as George and Laurie discuss the function of alcohol in sex and relationships and what you may need to explore underneath if it is a gas pedal or brake. Our hosts approach this topic with non-judgement and are explicit that alcohol and substance use runs on a wide spectrum and affects people in many ways. We know this may open up myriad reactions from our listeners and we welcome your feedback! As always, thank you for listening and keep it hot, y'all! Learn more about your ad choices. We're breaking down exactly how to make exploration feel intentional, low-pressure, and actually fun.

Picture this, you walk in from a hard, stressful day at work and finally see your partner--your person. You say to them, "Honey, today was such a hard day. Everything went wrong. It was really bad." Your partner replies with, "Well, look on the bright side you're home and your job helps us keep this beautiful roof over our heads." Your body deflates a little. Your partner just brightsided you when you were really hoping for a little sympathy and comfort. This is defined as 'Toxic Positivity': an experience where someone shares something along a negative vein and the responder replies with the brightside, silver lining or overt positivity. In this episode, George and Laurie discuss how toxic positivity affects interactions between partners, why partners might anchor towards using it and how it causes disconnection in relationships. Listeners will take away intent v. impact, and how partners can shift from avoidance of negative emotion to connection through it and end up on the bright side together. If this shows up in your relationship either as the doer or receiver this episode is sure to spark a great conversation! Thanks for listening and keep it hot y'all! Learn more about your ad choices. This might be the most misunderstood concept in the golf swing… and it's costing golfers more than they realize. In this episode of the Athletic Motion Golf Podcast, Mike Granato and Shaun Webb break down one of the most commonly botched elements in the modern golf swing: shaft lean at impact.Golfers everywhere are obsessed with achieving that “tour-level look” — hands forward, clubface compressing the ball — but most are chasing a pose, not a position rooted in proper movement and mechanics. And the results? Inconsistent ball striking, weak compression, and frustration on the course.Mike and Shaun dive into:Why holding lag is ruining your swingThe truth about wrist angles and body positioningHow “posing impact” is hurting your real performanceWhy even elite players misunderstand what shaft lean actually isThe role of swing sequence and movement patterns in achieving natural compressionThis episode is for every player who's chased compression, tried to "hold the angle," or been told their hands need to be way forward at impact.

What if everything you thought about early extension was wrong? In this episode of the Athletic Motion Golf podcast, Mike Granato and Shaun Webb dive deep into one of the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed swing faults in golf: early extension. Most golfers (and sadly, a lot of coaches too) are watching the wrong hip, misreading camera angles, and making massive swing changes to fix a problem they don't fully understand. The result? Wrecked pivots, locked hips, and stalled progress. This is the real truth about early extension — and how it's often a symptom, not the root cause.Inside, we'll unpack:The #1 camera mistake that leads to misdiagnosisWhy your lead knee and hip rotation matter more than trail side movementHow most swing aids and drills make the problem worseWhat you should actually focus on to fix your swingWhy locking your pelvis down is destroying your power and consistency

This episode originally aired 12/18/22. To cover "The Holiday," Ryan Sichelstiel (@rysic) signs up to do a house swap of his own, but finds he'll be staying in Hell as he spends the hour with a flu-ridden Chelsea and Donny, who are hopped up on NyQuil and hot toddies, respectively. White Lotus-inspired fan theories, fat holes, Viagra sponsorships, and Imogeon Heap sing-a-longs are brought up in the duo's sickness-induced haze. Also, Donny may be the main character of his life, but that main character turns out to be a sociopath when he shares his favorite (made up) celebrity conspiracy theory. Last, the Cuties submit the craziest things they've done for love. To access AD FREE versions of our episodes, as well as bonus episodes and uncut audio and video, subscribe to our Patreon!
