Erről is mesélünk a Micsoda nők voltak! podcastunk legújabb részében!

In this week's shorter episode Al and Nathan discus LILI ELBE (c.1882 - 1931) a Danish artist and LGBTQIA+ pioneer. While little is known about her life she is immortalized in the 2015 film The Danish Girl for better or for worse, we try and mince through what is real and what is fiction and tell her story as honestly as we can today. This week we're travelling back 100 years to Berlin with Finn. Finn Ballard (he/him) is a trans man, originally from Ireland, now based in Berlin who specializes in the LGBTI+ history of the city which he retells as a tour guide at Finn Ballard Tours. In this episode, Finn talks about the pre Nazi era of LGBTI+ emancipation in Germany (our favorite story is about a trans man in Cologne who announced his dead name in the local newspaper) and how the Nazi's ultimately destroyed important archival material including that of the Institute for Sexual Science (visited by Lili Elbe), the contents of which were burned on Hitler's 100th day in power.Listen now for an important tour through our collective history, and you'll maybe find an ancestor that you didn't know about.Finn hosts a Zoom 'History Club' every Sunday at 7pm CET which you can find out more about here: www.facebook.com/finnballardtours/ or here: http://www.finn-ballard-tours.com/Special thanks to Finn for taking part!Your host is Anders Larsen - also known as the drag queen Chantal al Arab. -----------------------------------------To be featured in a future episode, please send us a short voice memo with a random thought, an inspiring anecdote, or just something you would want to share to communication@copenhagen2021.com, in which you answer the following:- Who are you?- Where in the world are you right now?- What's on your mind?- Say: “I am [your name], you are included!”By sending your voice memo you agree we can use it in the podcast.------------------------------------You Are Included is a Copenhagen 2021 original podcast produced by hearHEAR.nuVisit Copenhagen2021 @ https://copenhagen2021.com
Thomas and Kendall talk about Lili Elbe and Tab Hunter.
In this painting analysis we will look a the painting 'On the Way to Anacapri' by Gerda Wegener (1885-1940) a Danish artist who worked as a successful fashion illustrator. In addition to this she also created glass mosaics, erotic art and also painted. In the public consciousness she is perhaps mostly remembered for her marriage and relationship with Lili Elbe, who is one of the first recorded cases of someone undergoing gender reassignment surgery. Before her transition Lili has been posing secretly as a model for Gerda, which when revealed caused a huge scandal, leading the couple to flee to Paris, which was a more bohemian and liberal city that accepted their lifestyle. Sadly for legal reasons the marriage was dissolved but they remained close and Gerda was deeply affected by her passing away. In this episode we will explore Lili and Gerda's relationship as represented in 'On the Way to Anacapri' as well as discussing Gerda's career and versatility as an artist.
Happy Pride! “The type of multi-hyphenate I am is I need to really clearly be able to compartmentalize what version of myself is being put into what thing. In terms of photography, if I have not been doing freeform things - I feel like I'm being worked to the bone.” L Morgan Lee (A Strange Loop) is an artist who sees herself through her photography. And if anyone wants to know anything about her, all you have to do is look at one of her images. As we celebrate Pride month in 2021, this episode is an enjoyable and honest slice of life for two LGBTQIA+ multi-hyphenates in the theatre industry, both of who happen to be photographers. L Morgan's first priority is being an actress. She keeps in mind that perception is so much a part of the business, so it's in her best interest to be as specific as possible in terms of being an actress. “The group of ladies that I would love to be with in terms of acting,'' she says, “You can't just go on a website and book them for headshots.” Being a multi-hyphenate also welcomes different communities. “I think community is number-one a life line to me,” she says. “I need to have people that I feel close to. I have a community of trans women who are over fifty. There's two or three girls who have taught me so much without even knowing they are teaching me.” And of course, there's some photographer dishing - so are you ready for the tea to be spilled? Between L and Michael, the stories from behind the lens are endless. For one, they view the headshot as a survival job, while the other views the headshot as a way to express themselves. So, if each photographer has their own view of the art form - is there contention? Is there jealousy? Is it territorial? What are the boundaries we enforce to protect our heart? Plus, if you're a business owner, like a photographer, L Morgan and Michael go deep into the practices of owning a business and finding the sweet spot of how to stay accessible, but also charging rates where the business owner can survive. Enjoy this episode as Michael and L Morgan dive into knowing one's worth, money management, trans identity, joining the circles of our inspirations, a photographer's boundaries, and what it means to take charge of how the industry perceives an artist. L MORGAN LEE (she/her) is an Obie award-winning actress, theatre maker, and photographer. She is most known for her performance in the Pulitzer Prize winning musical, A Strange Loop which garnered her a Lucille Lortel nomination and the distinction of being the first openly transgender actress to originate a role in a Pulitzer Prize winning piece of theatre. Most recently, L Morgan was cast to portray artist Lili Elbe in a British musical adaptation of the novel, The Danish Girl being workshopped in the UK. She is also developing a new play entitled, The Women (2021) which was seen in Ars Nova's 2021 Vision Residency. Other credits include new works with Long Wharf Theater, Baltimore Center Stage, 5th Avenue Theater, Musical Theatre Factory and more. L Morgan is dedicated to being a part of work centering underrepresented voices on both stage and screen. "She needed a hero, so that's what she became."
To watch the video version of this episode, click here. Vidya Makan is a composer, singer, actor, and musician based in Melbourne, Australia, and most recently starred as Dot/Marie in Sunday in the Park with George. Vidya’s other credits include: Lady Capulet in Romeo And Juliet, Green Day’s American Idiot, Merrily We Roll Along and Little Inez in Hairspray. As a composer, Vidya is currently working on My Home Too, a song cycle about Australia and home, while her debut full length musical Woman, inspired by the lives of bohemian artists Gerda Wegener and Lili Elbe is also in development. She is currently part of the original Australian cast of SIX the Musical as Catherine Parr. Vidya’s parents grew up in apartheid South Africa, later moving to Australia in the 1990’s to get away and start their family. She remembers going to the theater frequently with her family as a child, and when talking about her parents, calls her mom an “absolute arts nerd”, while her dad has a “beautiful” singing voice. Vidya started playing the piano when she was 3, and began singing in choirs when she was 5 years old - but was also a self-declared “tom-boy”. Her first dream was to play soccer for Australia, and at 15 years old Vidya received a scholarship to train at the Manchester United Soccer School in England for a week. While in England, she and her father attended a performance of Wicked, and Vidya recalls, “There was something about that show that just got under my skin.” They returned home to Australia, she auditioned for the school musical for the first time - The Wiz - and landed the role of Dorothy. And that was it! From there it was ‘goodbye soccer, hello theater’. Vidya went on to study musical theatre at The Queensland Conservatorium’s Griffith University. During our conversation, Vidya talks with us about the journey of finding her place in the performing arts industry in Australia. As a woman of color she “hasn’t had the cookie-cutter career because she isn’t the cookie-cutter performer” - as successful musical theater shows that transfer from America to Australia aren't necessarily crafted to showcase more ethnically diverse performers. She shares that a large part of her journey has been about finding those companies (usually with younger people at the helm) where she can be seen just as a woman, outside of type or ethnicity or race. And so it seems SIX the Musical is very naturally the next step in this journey, as casting was “not about anything else other than getting the right person for the role”, boasting diverse casts across all its productions. In this episode, we talk about: How the postponement of the Australian production of SIX affected her The outpouring of love and support they have received from the SIX fan base The importance of being a role model now that she’s in the spotlight How English actress Jameela Jamil’s social media activism against female body shaming has changed her life Taking the sexualization of women in pop culture/music and turning it on its head in SIX The differences in the performing arts industry in Australia versus America What she calls a “Muggle Job” Composing her own music, and working on creating an original musical of her own Connect with Vidya: IG: @vidyamakan Web: vidyamakan.com Connect with The Theatre Podcast: Support us on Patreon: Patreon.com/TheTheatrePodcast Twitter & Instagram: @theatre_podcast Facebook.com/OfficialTheatrePodcast TheTheatrePodcast.com Alan's personal Instagram: @alanseales Email me at feedback@thetheatrepodcast.com. March is Women in History Month and March 8th is International Women’s Day. For this episode I chose to acknowledge a few women who shook up society when they stood their ground for who they are, despite the huge obstacles, strength and courage it would take. This month allows us to acknowledge the importance of marginalized groups like women, transgender women and non-binary people. These groups are some of the most ignored and erased from history often due to men taking the credit for their achievements, struggles, discoveries, inventions and advances in society and culture. These three women: Lucy “Hicks” Anderson, Lili Elbe and Christine Jorgensen made huge strides for other women and people just like them towards gender equality for the LGBTQ community. Kelley and Emily narrowly avoid disaster as they (kinda) cover the same person! While splitting a bottle of Costco Sangria (so fancy) Kelley covers two of the first trans women to undergo gender reassignment surgery- Dora Richter and Christine Jorgensen! Then, Emily tells the story of the real Danish Girl, Lili Elbe (the third woman Kelley was going to cover!) who risked it all to realize who she was. Break out your skirt permit and play the world's worst drinking game cause it's time to wine about herstory!** Mornings with u by Barradeen | https://soundcloud.com/barradeenMusic promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.comCreative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unportedhttps://creativecoWmmons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en_US Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/winingaboutherstory/overview)
The Danish Girl is a fictionalized retelling of the life of Lili Elbe, a trans woman in 1920's Europe, and one of the first people to undergo sex reassignment surgeries. We talk a lot about identity and gender, what is biographical versus what is imagined, and how vehemently we disagree on the importance of setting. Jenna highlights the worst visual metaphor she has ever seen, and Megan explains the joy of being part of the queer community. Content warnings: surgery, reproductive organs, transphobia and homophobia, violence against trans people, death. ----more---- Music: Happy Rock by BENSOUND http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Up In My Jam (All Of A Sudden) by Kubbi https://soundcloud.com/kubbi Creative Commons — Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported— CC BY-SA 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Music provided by Audio Library https://youtu.be/tDexBj46oNI

Was ist hier möglich, was sinnvoll und wer entscheidet darüber? Schreibt uns per E-Mail an istdasnormal@zeit.de.
Danish painter Einar Wegener pioneered the fight for gender-reassignment surgery at the break of the century. Played by Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything, My Week with Marilyn), Wegener, who became Lili Elbe, was one of the first to undergo the controversial and risky surgery and did so with the support of her wife, Gerda. Directed by Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables), 'The Danish Girl' is beautifully written by Lucinda Coxon as it invites the actors to exist between any expected clichés of a transgender film. Rather than dwell on sexual scenes or medical queries, the film is a romance, inviting audiences to follow along as two people love one another. The Pride Festival takes place in June and July, and to celebrate, we have a fascinating interview with the screenwriter of The Danish Girl, Lucinda Coxon.
Lili Isle Elvenes, better known as Lili Elbe, was one of the first known recipients of a gender reassignment surgery. In 2015, her life was brought to the forefront of many people's minds when Alicia Vikander won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the film. Despite the film's success at the Academy Awards, there was a fair share of inaccuracies in the story on the big screen. In this episode, we interview Jackson Bird, communications director of the Harry Potter Alliance and waffle aficionado. Topics covered include the changing definition of “fan activism,” coming out as trans on YouTube, Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Lili Elbe, and whether—if you had to choose just one—you would pick waffles or Harry Potter.
It was sometime in the early years of their marriage when Gerda Weganer asked her husband, Einar, to dress in women’s clothes and sit for a painting. The intended subject was running late, and suggested to Gerda that Einar be her stand in. “His legs and feet are as pretty as mine,” she said. All dressed up in a wig, painted with rouge and powders, and buckled into high-heeled shoes, Einar, now Lili, looked into the mirror with a singular wonder: “Was it really possible that I could be so good looking?” So begins the story of Lili Elbe, a transgender painter and painter’s muse, who underwent one of the first series of modern gender confirmation surgeries. Her third surgery, meant to implant a uterus, eventually killed her, but not before she documented her life stories into papers that would later be compiled into the book, Man into Woman. Lili Elbe’s hope was that her book fall into the hands of people like her. She wanted her words to help generations of trans people know that they weren’t alone. Unfortunately, the book is out of print. So when we got our hands on a copy, we couldn’t wait to share one of our favorite scenes, Lili’s christening night. Here’s a little history, from The Heart.
