Hello to you listening in Olympia, Washington! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. I am a storyteller of the old school. What do I mean? For over 30 years I've taught (and continue to teach) my clients and students the same thing: “Put down the paper and nobody gets hurt!” Why? Because storytellers have something to say that comes from their aliveness, which is what people most want to feel and connect with. Sharing our stories out loud brings them to light and life, and  encourages us to do what most folks fear more than snakes: stand up and speak up in public.   Story spoken aloud is what we leave of ourselves in another person. A story is an intimate lasting legacy, a permanent inheritance much like a vow or an oath. When we share our stories out loud, we connect with each other, we belong to each other. We might not realize it but we are creating a verbal promise, a vow, an oath of belonging. Think about how many times we've heard  someone say, "Repeat after me: I solemnly swear..." Marrying couples pledge faithfulness through the challenges and joys of marriage. Lawyers uphold the law, maintain client confidentiality, and act as an officer of the court. Doctors focus on ethics, patient care and societal responsibilities. Politicians preserve and defend the Constitution. US military support and defend the Constitution against all enemies. Immigrants becoming US citizens swear the Oath of Allegiance to the United States during a formal naturalization ceremony. From the time we are children in school we recite The Pledge of Allegiance, a patriotic promise of loyalty to the United States flag and the republic for which it stands. What happens when we share our stories out loud? They become real. We say what we mean, we mean what we say. We—and those hearing us—know what we stand for and what we won't stand for. Yes, you might write a story but it needs to be shared out loud to enrich and include the wider world. That's the legacy of the stories we leave in those who have heard them spoken aloud. Welcome to Day 3 of the Elegant Productivity Meditation Series: Get More Done With Less Stress. Today's theme is Focus—the kind that feels calm, clean, and sustainable. In this episode you'll use the Mental Clarity Breath to settle your nervous system, reduce distraction, and return to a single point of attention so you can move through your day with more ease and follow-through. Today's breathing technique: Mental Clarity Breath (App Technique) Inhale gently through the nose for 4… hold for 2… exhale slowly for 6. Repeat for 5 rounds, letting your exhale smooth your thoughts and steady your focus. Today's intention: Choose one meaningful task and single-task it—just for today. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S SERIES Welcome to the Elegant Productivity Meditation Series—a calming, results-oriented week designed to help you accomplish more with less stress. Each episode supports a different pillar of sustainable productivity: clarity, focus, energy, time, momentum, boundaries, and integration. You'll train your attention, reset your nervous system, simplify priorities, and build a graceful rhythm you can actually maintain—so productivity feels steady, spacious, and aligned. THE Sales Japan Series by Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan
Become A Master Of Handling Objections

THE Sales Japan Series by Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 24, 2026 12:28

Objections are not the enemy — they're signals. In complex B2B and high-ticket selling, an objection often means the buyer is still engaged, still evaluating, and still leaving the door open. The difference between "this is going nowhere" and "we can win this" is whether you follow a disciplined process instead of reacting emotionally. Below is a practical, repeatable objection-handling framework you can run in real time — in Australia, Japan, the US, Europe, in-person or on Zoom — without sounding scripted. Why are objections actually a good sign in sales conversations? Objections usually mean the buyer is still considering you — they're testing risk, fit, and trust rather than silently rejecting you. In most markets post-pandemic (2020–2025), buyers have tightened procurement, involved more stakeholders, and demanded clearer ROI, which means more questions and more pushback — even when they like you. In Japan, where consensus building and risk avoidance are culturally strong, objections often appear as "we need to think" or "it might be difficult." In the US and Australia, you might hear direct resistance like "too expensive" or "we're happy with our current vendor." In all cases, the presence of friction can be healthier than polite indifference. Do now (answer card): Treat objections as engagement. Your job isn't to "win" — it's to discover what's underneath and solve the real concern What's the biggest mistake salespeople make when they hear an objection? The fastest way to lose a deal is to argue with the buyer — even if you're technically correct. The human brain hears pushback and wants to defend: you jump in, correct them, prove them wrong, and accidentally trigger buyer resistance. You might "win the debate" and still lose the decision. This shows up everywhere: startups pitching to procurement, consultants selling transformation programs, and enterprise SaaS teams facing security and legal. In Australia and the US, that argument can feel like a pressure tactic; in Japan, it can feel like you've disrupted harmony and made it harder for the buyer to save face. Instead of debating the headline ("too expensive"), you need the story behind it (budget cycle, internal politics, competing priorities, risk fears). Do now (answer card): Stop defending. Assume the objection is a headline and your job is to uncover the full article. What is a "cushion" and why does it work for handling objections? A cushion is a neutral circuit-breaker sentence that stops you from reacting and buys you thinking time. It's not agreement and it's not disagreement — it's a calm buffer between what they said and what you say next. Examples in plain English: "I hear you." "That's a fair point." "Thanks for raising that." "I can see why you'd ask that." This works because it lowers emotional temperature, keeps the buyer talking, and prevents the "fight or flight" response that turns into arguing. Whether you're selling to a Japanese conglomerate, a US mid-market firm, or an Australian SME, that pause helps you shift from defence mode into discovery mode. Pro tip: keep the cushion short. The cushion isn't the solution — it's the doorway to the right question. Do now (answer card): Build 3–5 cushion phrases you can say naturally, then use one every single time before you respond. What question should you ask first after any objection? Ask: "May I ask you why you say that?" — because the only useful response to an objection is more information.Objections are like a newspaper headline: short, dramatic, and missing context. "Too expensive" could mean cashflow, competitor pricing, CFO scrutiny, or fear of implementation risk. When you ask "why," you throw the "porcupine" back to the buyer — gently — so they explain the real story. This is effective in high-context cultures like Japan because it invites explanation without confrontation. It also works in direct markets like the US and Australia because it signals professionalism: you're diagnosing, not pushing. Watch-out: don't ask "why" with a sharp tone. Make it soft, curious, and slow. The tone is the difference between coaching and challenging. Do now (answer card): Make "why" your reflex. Cushion → "May I ask why?" → listen longer than feels comfortable. How do you clarify and cross-check to find the real objection? Clarify by restating the concern, then cross-check for hidden issues until they run out of objections. Buyers often lead with a minor issue to end the conversation quickly, especially when they don't want a long discussion. Think iceberg: the visible tip is what they say; the big block below the waterline is what they mean. Use two moves: Clarify: "Thank you. So, as I understand it, your chief concern is ___ — is that right?" Cross-check: "In addition to ___, are there any other concerns on your side?" Repeat the cross-check 3–4 times if needed. Then prioritise: "You've mentioned X, Y, and Z. Which one is the highest priority for you?" This is how enterprise sales teams reduce "surprise" objections late in the cycle, and how consultants avoid being derailed by a small complaint masking a major deal-breaker. Do now (answer card): Clarify the core issue, then ask for additional concerns, then rank them. Don't respond until you know the deal-breaker. How do you reply: deny, agree, reverse — and then trial close? Reply to the true main objection with one of three paths — deny, agree, or reverse — then use a trial commitment to confirm it's resolved. Once you've identified the highest-priority concern, you respond in a way that protects trust. Deny (with proof): If it's incorrect ("I heard you're going bankrupt"), deny calmly and offer evidence (financial stability, customer references, audited statements where appropriate). Agree (own reality): If it's true (quality issues, missed deadlines), acknowledge it. Explain what changed: process fixes, governance, QA, leadership actions. Credibility beats spin. Reverse (reframe): If the concern can become a benefit ("you take longer to deliver"), reframe it as risk reduction and quality control — less rework, fewer outages, smoother adoption. Then trial close: "How does that sound so far?" If more objections appear, run the process again. Do now (answer card): Pick the right response type (deny/agree/reverse), then trial close immediately to confirm the objection is gone. Conclusion: the repeatable objection-handling rhythm Objections don't block deals — unmanaged emotions do. When you treat objections as engagement, cushion your response, ask "why," clarify the real issue, cross-check for hidden concerns, and reply with credibility, you stop wrestling the buyer and start guiding the decision. If there are no questions, no objections, no hesitation, it may mean the buyer has already eliminated you and is just waiting for the meeting to end. Better to find out early — and move on to a real opportunity. Welcome to Day 7, the final episode of our Loving-Kindness Meditation Series! Loving-kindness—is a simple, science-supported practice that helps you cultivate compassion, strengthen connection, and reduce stress reactivity over time. In today's meditation, you'll do a Weekly Review to reflect on where kindness flowed naturally, where it felt blocked, and how to embody loving-kindness in a way that's warm and boundaried. You'll finish with a short loving-kindness (metta) technique you can use anytime—before a conversation, during stress, or as a daily reset. May you go forth with the tools you gathered during this week's loving-kindness journey! ABOUT THIS WEEK'S SERIES Welcome to Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series—a 7-day journey into the ancient practice of cultivating a steady, compassionate heart. This isn't "be positive" meditation, and it isn't personality-based inspiration. It's a classical inner training—rooted in timeless yogic reflections on maitrī (friendliness), compassion, joy, and equanimity—so your mind becomes clearer, your nervous system steadier, and your relationships more spacious. Across this week, you'll build a simple, repeatable heart practice using one focused technique each day: a loving-kindness visualization, a single phrase of kindness, calming breathwork, a heart-opening mudra, a heart-center (4th chakra) nurture practice, a layered "heart stack" you can use anytime, and a gentle weekly review to embody what you've learned. Come as you are—guarded, tender, hopeful, tired, or open. Loving-kindness doesn't require a perfect mood. It only asks for a sincere return. In just a few minutes each day, you'll practice opening the heart with steadiness—so compassion becomes less of an idea and more of a lived inner home. This is day 7 of a 7-day meditation series, "Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series"  episodes 3465-3471. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - "META-MICRO MISSION" Each day, send one tiny ripple of kindness: silently offer a loving-kindness phrase to yourself, a neutral person, and a difficult moment (not necessarily a difficult person). Keep it light—3 breaths each— and track your streak with a simple checkmark. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY  Day 1:  Compassion Visualization Day 2:  Affirmation: "My heart is open and safe." She first heard about intermittent fasting in 2016, when a friend recommended Gin's work, but even though she was inspired by Gin's story, she didn't think intermittent fasting was for her. At 5' 4”, she was stuck at a weight set point of around 152 pounds, even though she could lose weight—but then she would go right back up to 152 pounds, and she didn't feel good in her body.In the summer of 2020, she started working out consistently, and her friend and trainer recommended intermittent fasting. She still didn't think she could do it—until one day in November. On November 11, she woke up and started fasting clean that day. She has been fasting ever since. She now weighs 122 pounds, and has lost the constant food noise that plagued her prior to becoming an intermittent faster. She is on a muscle-building journey, and at the age of 66, her daily eating window from 11-6 each day plus working out allows her to easily build muscle and she feels strong and also feels comfortable in her body. At the end of the episode, Liz tells new intermittent fasters that it's simple—just start by skipping breakfast.Join Gin in the new Fast Feast Repeat app for The Grown-Up Year: 52 Weeks to Listen, Play, and Nourish, as well as a growing collection of intermittent fasting resources. Day 5 of Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series follows the arc of Nurture—softening the heart with warmth so loving-kindness feels safe, steady, and sustainable. In this episode, you'll practice a Heart Chakra (Anahata) meditation using hand-to-heart awareness and gentle breathing to release protective tension in the chest and invite tenderness back in. This is a nourishing practice for anyone who feels emotionally tired, guarded, lonely, or self-critical. Leave feeling calmer, more supported, and more open—without forcing emotion or overextending yourself. This is day 5 of a 7-day meditation series, "Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series"  episodes 3465-3471. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY  Day 1:  Compassion Visualization Day 2:  Affirmation: "My heart is open and safe." Pilates is trending. Protein is trending. Two-week abs are trending. And we have thoughts. In this episode, we break down the "Pilates wars," what Pilates actually is (and why real certification matters), and how social media has turned fitness into something performative instead of powerful. We talk about Megaformers, weekend certifications, protein without obsession, and why chasing numbers – on the scale, in your macros, or in your workout streak – is exhausting your brain more than building your body. The truth? Consistency beats intensity. Every time. Whether it's strength training, nutrition, or relationships, going to your edge without jumping off the cliff is where real change happens. If you're overwhelmed by fitness noise and ready to simplify, this one's your reset.   Resources mentioned: ABsolute Pilates Iron Butterfly   3 Ways to Calm the Fitness Noise: Choose consistency over intensity. You don't need two-a-days, free-week marathons, or a 14-day body reset. Move your body most days. Lift something heavy. Break a sweat. Then come back tomorrow. Real strength is built in rhythm, not in extremes. Stop turning your health into a math problem. If macros, scale weight, protein grams, and calorie counts are running through your head all day, that's noise. Eat real food. Add protein at your meals. Hydrate. Sleep. Repeat. Simple works. Go to your edge, not off the cliff. Challenge yourself, but keep your agency. Some days are heavier weights and extra push-ups. Some days are lighter and slower. Listening to your body isn't weakness. It's power.

The start line is where nerves, adrenaline, and self-doubt all show up at once. In this episode, I share five simple phrases every athlete can use to stay grounded, patient, and present when it matters most. We talk about trusting the work you've done, resisting the urge to race too early, narrowing your focus to what's right in front of you, and normalizing the fact that things will get hard. We also zoom out and remember what racing is really about — celebrating the work, the community, and the joy of showing up on race day. Whether you're racing a 5K, marathon, triathlon, or stepping into competition for the first time, these phrases are tools you can come back to again and again to execute better and enjoy the experience more. Save them. Repeat them. And take them with you to your next start line. LESSON 50I Am Sustained By The Love Of God.Here is the answer to every problem that will confront you, today and tomorrow and throughout time. In this world, you believe you are sustained by everything but God. Your faith is placed in the most trivial and insane symbols; pills, money, “protective” clothing, influence, prestige, being liked, knowing the “right” people, and an endless list of forms of nothingness that you endow with magical powers. All these things are your replacements for the Love of God. All these things are cherished to ensure a body identification. They are songs of praise to the ego. Do not put your faith in the worthless. It will not sustain you.Only the Love of God will protect you in all circumstances. It will lift you out of every trial, and raise you high above all the perceived dangers of this world into a climate of perfect peace and safety. It will transport you into a state of mind that nothing can threaten, nothing can disturb, and where nothing can intrude upon the eternal calm of the Son of God.Put not your faith in illusions. They will fail you. Put all your faith in the Love of God within you; eternal, changeless and forever unfailing. This is the answer to whatever confronts you today. Through the Love of God within you, you can resolve all seeming difficulties without effort and in sure confidence. Tell yourself this often today. It is a declaration of release from the belief in idols. It is your acknowledgment of the truth about yourself. For ten minutes, twice today, morning and evening, let the idea for today sink deep into your consciousness. Repeat it, think about it, let related thoughts come to help you recognize its truth, and allow peace to flow over you like a blanket of protection and surety. Let no idle and foolish thoughts enter to disturb the holy mind of the Son of God. Such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Such is the resting place where your Father has placed you forever.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

Day 4 of Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series follows the arc of Protect—because a truly open heart also needs a steady boundary. In this episode, you'll practice Lotus Mudra (a heart-opening hand gesture) as an embodied anchor for calm, safe openness—helping you release emotional guarding without becoming overexposed. As you hold the mudra at your heart, you'll cultivate loving-kindness with clarity and inner steadiness, so you can feel more centered, less reactive, and more secure in your own presence. This is day 4 of a 7-day meditation series, "Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series"  episodes 3465-3471. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY  Day 1:  Compassion Visualization Day 2:  Affirmation: "My heart is open and safe." Day 3:  Heart Coherent Breath: Inhale for 5, Exhale for 5, Repeat for 10 rounds. (Option: inhale "soften, exhale "kindness.") Organized crime is often imagined as something violent, chaotic, and obvious. But today, it looks far more polished than that. It operates like a multinational business, spread across borders, built on trust networks, specialization, and efficiency rather than brute force. This episode looks at how modern scams, fraud, and money laundering actually work and why they're so hard to spot before serious damage is done. My guest is Geoff White, an investigative journalist who has spent decades covering organized crime, cybercrime, and financial fraud. His reporting has appeared on BBC News, Sky News, The Sunday Times, and other major outlets, and he is also the creator of The Lazarus Heist, the hit podcast and book series exploring North Korea's global hacking operations. His latest book, Rinsed, examines how technology has transformed the world of money laundering. We talk about how modern criminal networks are structured, why scams now rely on patience and psychology rather than speed, and how money laundering functions as a service industry that quietly supports fraud at scale. The conversation also explores why victims are sometimes unknowingly used to move stolen funds, how urgency is weaponized to override judgment, and why slowing down remains one of the most effective defenses people have. Show Notes: [01:08] Geoff shares his background and why the organized crime + technology overlap is where he's spent his career. [02:52] Why longer-form work (books, podcasts) is often the only way to explain complex crimes that don't fit into a quick news segment. [03:56] Old-school enforcement was violence; modern crime groups often can't use that when partners are anonymous and overseas. [04:23] The trust networks holding global crime together can be more fragile than people assume. [05:06] The strange "trust inside crime" dynamic especially in ransomware, where criminals must appear "reliable." [06:18] Competition today looks more like corporate rivalry than street violence, especially in ransomware affiliate ecosystems. [07:41] Do these groups evolve from traditional cartels or arise from new tech-native criminals? Geoff says it depends on the region. [09:58] The skill split of elite coders builds ransomware, while newer recruits use social engineering to get initial access. [11:34] Money laundering adapts fast with crypto, game currencies, NFTs while the core "service business" model stays the same. [12:46] The "cost" of laundering: fees can be extreme for newcomers, and lower for experienced players with connections. [13:53] A disturbing case where victims are daisy-chained to launder money and reinforce the romance-scam illusion. [15:12] Why money mules are treated as disposable and how many don't realize the seriousness until law enforcement shows up. [16:48] The tactic of letting victims withdraw a little money to make a platform feel legitimate and why it works so well. [18:09] Geoff connects today's tactics to classic con mechanics ("putting the mark on the send") and the psychology behind it. [19:22] Geoff describes seeing an "escalator scam" firsthand: small payouts early, then pressure to pay to "unlock" higher earnings. [21:51] The scary shift is that scams now look polished and patient, stretching across multiple channels and weeks (or longer). [23:12] The more we "self-custody" money and identity online, the more security responsibility shifts onto individuals. [24:32] A major crypto seizure case raises a messy question when seized assets grow in value, who gets the upside? [28:46] Geoff's practical defense: slow down on anything money-related, create space, and don't let urgency steer decisions. [31:17] Why today's scammers play the long game of months of relationship-building can lead to life-changing losses. [34:29] Repeat victimization: recovery scams and fake "investigators" often target people right after they've been hit. [36:08] "Traceable" doesn't mean "recoverable," why freezing and returning stolen crypto is legally and logistically hard. [38:44] UK reimbursement changes shift liability between sending and receiving banks but there are tradeoffs and open questions. [41:28] Geoff reacts to US payment quirks (card taken away, tip written in pen) and why it still surprises outsiders. [45:11] Closing advice is to learn from other people's stories and run "what would I do?" scenarios before a crisis hits. Thanks for joining us on Easy Prey. Inside our theme of love this month, this week we are focusing on teaching our kids what love is. God has assigned us the role of teaching them about love, to lead and be their example, to help them see by words and actions that authenticity is the only way to understand love, especially His love. Real love and intimacy require vulnerability and sincerity. And God's Word is the original love letter from His heart to ours.Today, we're going to look at the first event in Jesus' life that launched His ministry and started His road to the cross: His baptism. Now, you might ask … what does Jesus's baptism have to do with love? Well, it's really about what happened at Jesus's baptism … listen as I read . …The moment Jesus came up out of the baptismal waters, the skies opened up and he saw God's Spirit—it looked like a dove—descending and landing on him. And along with the Spirit, a voice: “This is my Son, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life.” (Matthew 3:16-17 MSG)Did you hear the words of love and affirmation God spoken over Jesus? Imagine for a moment what John witnessed? The Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—all present at this historic event. Now, listen once again, and afterwards, I'll tell you how you and I are connected to this moment.Whenever we choose to enter into a relationship with Jesus, the reconnection of our spirits to His is completed. Please know then, that He will, for the rest of your life, look at you and say, “This is my son, this is my daughter, chosen and marked by my love, the delight of my life.”I'm betting that is exactly the way you look at your child. But you need to know this is how God sees you. And if you can accept and receive that is the way your Heavenly Father sees you, you will then be able to pass that truth on to your kids. If you believe it, they will more likely come to believe it as well.Repeat this truth out loud right now … I am chosen … I am marked … by my Father's love ... and I am the delight of His life. … Say it to Him … You have chosen me … You have marked me … by Your love … and I am the delight of Your life.Let's pray together: “Heavenly Father, thank You that You chose me, thank You that my life is marked by Your love. Thank You that I am the delight of Your life. Help me to show my kids that You and I, together, feel that way about them. As above, so below.”

Why You Have To Rinse & Repeat Your Marketing to Raise Capital

Maximize Your Reach: The Power of Repurposing ContentIn this episode, Scott Carson breaks down the "Rinse and Repeat" method, a marketing strategy used by global giants like McDonald's to stay top-of-mind with their audience. Many investors make the mistake of "one and done" marketing—posting a video or sending a letter once and giving up when they don't see immediate results. Scott argues that to truly scale a real estate or note investing business, you must embrace remarketing your content, pitch decks, and case studies to ensure you are seen by more than just the small percentage of followers reached by initial algorithms. By leveraging modern AI tools and strategic scheduling, you can turn a single piece of high-quality content into a continuous lead-generation machine.Key Topics Covered:The McDonald's Marketing Model: Scott explains how major brands run the same 30-second ad thousands of times a week to build brand recognition, contrasting this with the typical investor's "one and done" approach. The 15-Minute Pitch Deck: Learn why a concise, fifteen-minute pitch deck is your most powerful tool for raising capital and how to effectively "chum the water" to attract private investors.AI-Enhanced Repurposing: Discover how to use tools like Gemini to transform one video transcript into multiple SEO-rich blogs, descriptions, and social media posts, making AI think you have more content than you actually do.Strategic Scheduling and Re-streaming: Scott shares his personal workflow for using tools like Restream and Buffer to broadcast live content multiple times and rotate infographics daily to maintain a consistent presence.Leveraging YouTube Analytics: Insights into using your channel's "Audience" data to determine the optimal times for uploading and live-streaming to maximize engagement and algorithm favor.Success in raising capital and closing deals isn't just about creating content; it's about making sure that content is seen repeatedly by your target audience. Most sales are made after the fifth contact, yet most investors stop after the first. By applying the rinse and repeat method—tweaking titles, updating thumbnails, and rescheduling your best assets—you can build the credibility and recognition needed to dominate your local market. As Scott says, don't let your hard work fall on deaf ears; take action, use the tools available, and see you at the top.Watch the Original Video of this Episode HERE!Book a Call With Scott HERE!Sign up for the next FREE One-Day Note Class HERE!Sign up for the WCN Membership HERE!Sign up for the next Note Buying For Dummies Workshop HERE!Love the show? Your child lies. You catch them. They double down. Now what? When an 8-year-old swears they didn’t sneak the TV or the treats (even with chocolate on their face), most parents panic about what it means for the future. In this episode of The Happy Families Podcast, Justin and Kylie explain why lying is normal, why punishment makes it worse, and how to respond in a way that builds honesty instead of fear. If you want truth without tears, this conversation changes everything. KEY POINTS Lying is a developmental milestone, not a moral collapse. The harsher the punishment, the better kids get at hiding. Shame damages relationships and kills honesty. Most lies are about avoiding trouble or getting access to something they want. The goal isn’t catching kids out — it’s solving the problem together. You’ll have this conversation again and again. That’s normal parenting. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “Lying is not a moral crisis. It’s a teachable moment.” RELATED RESOURCES #846 An Honest Conversation [podcast episode] ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Stay calm. Avoid lectures and threats. Say what you see instead of asking trap questions. Make it safe to tell the truth. Explain your concerns (health, sleep, fairness). Collaborate on a plan everyone can live with. Evergreen sales might be the thing that finally gives your business room to breathe. If launching is burning you out, exhausting your audience, and making your revenue feel like a rollercoaster, this episode is your reset. We're talking about why evergreen sales are not just a “nice to have,” but a smarter, more stable way to grow your online business without living in constant launch mode. For years, the online space glorified big launches. Open cart. Close cart. Repeat. But what no one talks about is the nervous system cost of that model — the pressure, the unpredictability, the feast-or-famine cycles. And if you're trying to build something sustainable, especially in this season of life, that kind of constant intensity isn't freedom. In this episode, I break down what's really happening when launching feels harder than it used to. It's not that you're bad at marketing. It's not that your offer is wrong. It's that launch-heavy models were never designed for long-term stability. If your goal is predictable revenue, then your sales system needs to reflect that. We're talking about the shift from event-based selling to evergreen sales — and why that shift changes everything. Not just financially, but strategically. Because when your marketing supports evergreen sales, your content becomes an asset instead of a performance. Your messaging becomes clearer. Your revenue becomes steadier. And your business stops depending on constant adrenaline. If you want to host a profitable podcast (or want to start a podcast for business), this conversation will land even deeper. A podcast is one of the strongest vehicles for evergreen sales because it builds trust at scale and creates demand consistently — without you having to relaunch the same offer every few months. It allows you to create passive income in a way that feels aligned and strategic instead of chaotic. This episode will help you understand:Why launch burnout is a structural problem, not a personal oneHow evergreen sales create predictable revenue over timeThe difference between hype-based selling and authority-based sellingWhy a profitable podcast can become the engine behind evergreen salesHow to grow your online business without constantly being in “campaign mode”If you've been feeling tired of pushing, tired of relaunching, tired of wondering where the next spike of income will come from — this is your permission slip to build differently.Evergreen sales are not about doing less work. They're about doing the right work once and letting it compound. And when you combine that with a podcast strategy designed to nurture, educate, and convert over time, you create a business model that supports your life instead of consuming it.Hit play, and let's talk about how to move from launch fatigue to predictable revenue — and why evergreen sales might be the most strategic decision you make this year.Take what you need, and then go run your damn business.Ready to turn your podcast into a real business asset? If you already have a podcast that isn't making sales — or you're thinking about starting one and want to do it right from day one — I'm hosting a FREE, live training that will show you exactly how to build a podcast that actually supports your revenue. Inside the Profitable Podcast Kickstarter, I'll walk you through how to: • connect your podcast to a real offer • stop creating content that goes nowhere • turn listeners into clients — without living on social media

This week on the Jewellers Academy podcast, host Anna Campbell is joined by website designer and e-commerce specialist Helen Rawlinson (HR Digital Design) to talk about when and why jewellers should move from platforms like Etsy to their own website. They explore how third-party marketplaces have changed over the years - becoming more crowded, more price-driven, and harder for genuine handmade businesses to stand out - and why relying on 'being discovered' on these platforms is far less realistic than it once was. Helen talks about the positives of having your own website, including giving you control over your branding, your customer experience, and the story you tell about your work and pricing. They discuss the long-term value of owning your customer relationships and data, especially through email marketing, so you can build repeat sales, credibility, and a sustainable jewellery brand. The episode also covers practical considerations like platform choice and why 'done is better than perfect' when it comes to getting your site live and improving it over time.   02:04: Introduction and today's topic 03:13: Meet Helen from HR Digital Design 05:14: The downside of third-party platforms 07:43: Why customer experience matters 08:40: Price comparisons on marketplaces 10:02: Your website as the hub of your business 10:47: Why handmade shouldn't compete on price 12:15: Educating customers on your own site 15:38: Why discovery on Etsy is harder now 17:02: Marketplace fees explained 19:30: Website costs as an investment 21:00: Reviews, stress, and lack of control 24:00: Owning your customer data 26:10: The power of email marketing 28:54: Social media vs email for sales 30:18: Repeat customers and loyalty 32:39: Credibility and trust online 34:26: You don't need huge sales volumes 35:05: Branding and design on your website 39:43: Done is better than perfect 42:44: Shopify vs Squarespace 48:24: Sunk cost bias and getting stuck on Etsy 49:25: The reality of running your own site 51:40: How Helen helps clients 54:20: Where to find Helen 55:10: Closing thoughts   About Helen I'm Helen, the founder of HR Digital Design, and I work primarily with ambitious and growing small businesses who are ready to take their online presence a bit more seriously. A lot of my work is with creatives who've grown their businesses on platforms like Etsy or on home-made websites and then reach a point where they want more control, more stability, and a website that actually supports their business rather than complicating it. Welcome to Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series—a 7-day journey into the ancient practice of cultivating a steady, compassionate heart. This is day 1 of a 7-day meditation series, "Loving-Kindness Meditation: A Daily Heart-Opening Series"  episodes 3465-3471. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - "META-MICRO MISSION" Each day, send one tiny ripple of kindness: silently offer a loving-kindness phrase to yourself, a neutral person, and a difficult moment (not necessarily a difficult person). Truths Inspiring Me About Confidence and Character — A Conversation with My Son Sometimes the most convicting spiritual lessons don't come from a sermon. They come from hearing a child say something honest— something simple— and realizing God is speaking through it.  And as you listen to this conversation about habits, confidence, and walking with Jesus, you may feel that gentle nudge to return to what's true.  Lean into that. Because your habits are always taking you somewhere. And the small choices you make today shape who you become tomorrow. You Don't Drift Into Confidence You might think confidence is a personality trait. Something you either have or you don't. But confidence is rarely about personality. It's about formation. It's about what you repeatedly do. When you build habits that align with truth — reading Scripture, practicing gratitude, caring for your body, choosing honesty — something steady begins forming inside of you. Not hype. Not ego. Not loud self-assertion. But quiet strength. And the opposite is also true. When you repeatedly avoid truth, bend honesty, indulge jealousy, or neglect your health, that forms something too. And eventually, that formation becomes your character. You don't wake up one day confident or insecure by accident. You drift there — one habit at a time. What You Feed Your Mind Shapes Your Identity If you only occasionally open your Bible, what fills the gap? Your worries. Your spouse's tone. Your insecurities. The voice in your head that says you're not enough. But when you consistently feed your mind the truth of Scripture, something changes. You begin to live from being cared for. Not striving for approval. Not grasping for validation. But anchored in being loved. You cannot feel confident if you don't believe you are deeply cared for. And that belief doesn't grow accidentally. It grows through repetition. Gratitude Rewires Your Perspective If you only focus on what you don't have, you will start to believe you have nothing. You will compare. You will resent. You will feel behind. And even when you do get what you wanted, it won't satisfy you — because comparison has already shaped your lens. But when you practice gratitude — intentionally naming what is good — you retrain your heart to see abundance. You begin to notice: God has been kind. God has provided. God has not left you alone. Gratitude doesn't ignore pain. It simply refuses to let pain define the whole story. And that builds stability. That builds joy. That builds confidence rooted in truth rather than circumstance. Your Body Matters More Than You Think You are not "just a soul." You are embodied. Jesus didn't come as a concept. He came in flesh. Your body is not accidental. It is not disposable. Scripture calls it a temple of the Holy Spirit. When you neglect your body — through constant exhaustion, poor nourishment, or silent self-criticism — you aren't just affecting your health. You are shaping how you see yourself. And when you care for your body — even in small ways — you are saying: "This matters. God's creation matters." Confidence grows when you respect what God has given you. Not in pride. But in stewardship. The Habit That Quietly Undermines Everything Let's talk about honesty. You may not consider yourself a liar. But do you exaggerate to seem more impressive? Withhold truth to avoid discomfort? Bend the story to protect your image? Lies feel small in the moment. But every time you tell one, something inside you weakens. Because you know the truth. Even if no one else does — you do. And when you repeatedly override your own integrity, you slowly erode your own confidence. You cannot feel strong while betraying yourself. Real confidence is inseparable from integrity. And integrity requires courage — especially when no one is watching. God Delights in Integrity Zephaniah says something stunning: "The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing." -Zephaniah 3:17 ESV But just before that, it speaks of a people who refuse deceit, who walk humbly, who seek the Lord. "Yes, I will punish those who participate in pagan worship ceremonies, and those who fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit." -Zephaniah 1:9 NLT God delights in truth. God delights in humility. God delights in integrity. Not because He is demanding perfection — but because integrity aligns you with how you were created to live. When you choose honesty. When you confess sin. When you turn from a habit that weakens you — even if you fail again tomorrow — you are stepping toward freedom. You are stepping toward formation. And God delights in that movement. You Are Not Stuck If you're listening and thinking: "I have bad habits." "I've let things slide." "I don't like who I've been becoming." Hear this clearly: You are not stuck. Habits can be unlearned. Patterns can be interrupted. Integrity can be rebuilt. Start small. Choose one habit. One verse. One act of gratitude. One moment of honesty. Repeat it. Push through the discomfort. Because the first time you choose differently, it will feel awkward. The fifth time, it will feel possible. The fiftieth time, it will feel like you. The Person You're Becoming You are always becoming someone. Not someday. Today. Your habits are forming the atmosphere of your home. Your habits are shaping your marriage. Your habits are influencing how your children see faith. Your habits are determining how you see yourself. So lean into that gentle nudge. Not with shame. But with resolve. You don't need dramatic reinvention. You need daily alignment. And when you choose small, faithful obedience — again and again — you will wake up one day and realize: You didn't just build better habits. You built stronger character. And from that character, real confidence grew. And that kind of confidence? It cannot be shaken.
