There's a tapping practice shown to ease stress, balance emotions, and support healing. We explore the science behind Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT.Summary: Emerging research shows that a body-tapping technique called Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, can help calm the nervous system, improve emotional awareness, and support healing from trauma. In this episode of The Science of Happiness, we follow illustrator Minnie Phan's journey of using this evidence-based practice to connect with herself, care for her mental health, and create from a place of resilience.How To Do This Practice:  Identify the issue: Choose one specific feeling, thought, or physical sensation that's bothering you, such as stress, sadness, or tension in your body. Rate the intensity: On a scale of 0 to 10 (with 10 being the most intense), rate how strongly you feel it right now. This will help you notice changes as you tap. Create your setup statement: Say a phrase that names your feeling and affirms self-acceptance, such as: "Even though I feel anxious, I fully and completely accept myself." Gently tap 5–7 times on each point: Side of hand, inner eyebrow above your nose, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, under arm, and top of head. Repeat while tapping: As you tap each point, repeat a shortened reminder phrase (e.g., “I feel anxious” or “I accept myself”) while taking slow, steady breaths. Reassess and repeat if needed: Pause, take a breath, and rate your intensity again. Continue another round or two until you notice a shift toward more calm or ease. How to know how good your eyes are? Nowadays, there are lots of gadgets around us. We stare at our computers and mobile phones all day, every day, and of course this affects our vision. How many people feel their eyes aching at the end of the day, or have blurry vision and eye dryness? All of these symptoms can indicate ophthalmic problems.There are a variety of vision deficiencies: colorblindness, near- and farsightedness, and astigmatism are the most common problems. Sometimes, a person doesn't even know they have these issues — they just think that everyone sees this way. So do you wanna find out exactly how good your vision is and what you can do to improve it? We have a little test for you. You have to complete 9 simple tasks. Don't forget to add one point to your score for every correct answer. Let's start! Keep your eyes closed for about a second, and then open them. Do this at least 20 times, and then move on to the next exercise! Focusing on a certain side will help your eye muscles become stronger and ensure their good work. Don't overdo it, though! Performing this exercise once or twice a day is more than enough to keep your eyes healthy. You can do the eye bounce exercise while standing up, sitting, or even lying down! All you have to do is move your eyes up and down quickly about 10 times. When you're done, rest for about a minute. Then repeat the exercise but with your eyes closed this time. This exercise is kinda self-explanatory: You have to sit straight, look in front of you, and trace a path as if you're drawing a giant 8 with your eyes on the wall in front of you. Don't cheat by moving your head — only your eyes should work here. Repeat this exercise about 5 times, and then go on with your day! Make sure you're sitting straight, and tilt your head back a little bit. In this position, close your eyes, and place your index and middle fingers on your eyelids. Move the fingers of your right hand in a counterclockwise direction and the fingers of your left hand in a clockwise direction. Do this for about a minute, change directions, and repeat for one more minute. Make them delicious, so yummy that you would want to have them often. Then, based on those options, create your meal plan for the week, adjust your portions to hit your macros.  Finally, RINSE and REPEAT. Occasionally changing up your meal plan, or adding new meal ideas to your rotation.  This is the best of both worlds, the flexibility of macros and understanding food and making it mindless, efficient, and consistent. Take one hour to complete this. I would highly recommend this to anyone before starting their calorie deficit, or before starting to track macros. Tatsiana shares her unique and humorous entry into intermittent fasting—prompted by wanting to match her stated weight on a life insurance application after a festive Fourth of July. She recounts her quick initial weight loss, how a serendipitous YouTube video introduced her to Gin's book Fast Feast Repeat, and her realization that a “clean fast” made a difference. Tatsiana describes that, although she never struggled significantly with her weight growing up in Belarus, moving to America exposed her to a drastically different food culture and led to weight fluctuations, especially after having children.Tatsiana reminisces about her childhood in Belarus with seasonal, simple foods, and homemade sweets being the norm.
