Whether you're 17 or 71, popular or struggling, put-together or barely hanging on—we all need the same thing. And His name is Jesus. We'll see that in this message from Pastor Greg Laurie! Notes: In Luke 8, we meet two very different people with two very different problems. If you feel like your life is falling apart, this story is for you. Read Luke 8:40–48 This poor woman had been in poor health for 12 years. This young girl, who was sick and near death, was 12 years old. Luke 8:41 (NLT)[Jairus] came and fell at Jesus' feet, pleading with Him to come home with him. We all should want Jesus to come home with us. Parents: the best thing you can do is get your children to Jesus. Be faithful. Be consistent. Be present. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (NLT)And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Every young person is looking for three things:a place to belong,a purpose to live for,and to be loved. Jairus had great faith in Christ. Then this woman burst on the scene. How easily Jairus could have resented this intrusion. Jesus is never late. He is always on time. This woman had been sick for 12 long years with no hope for a cure. Maybe you, too, need a healing touch from Jesus right now.Reach out to Him as this desperate woman did. Jesus literally said, “Who touched Me on my clothes?I felt in myself the power going out from Me.” The Bible says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you!”(James 4:8) Read Luke 8:49–50 Jairus heard these dreadful words, “Your daughter is dead.” But Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” Jairus had to choose which voice to listen to. “Fear not, for I am with you; I will strengthen you.”(Isaiah 41:10) “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”(John 14:27) “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”(Hebrews 13:5) “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil.”(Jeremiah 29:11) How do you hear the voice of God?By opening the Bible. Read Luke 8:51–53 God doesn’t just care about your afterlife. He also cares about you in this life. 1 Timothy 6:17b (ESV)God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. John 5:24"I tell you the truth, those who listen to My message and believe in God who sent Me have eternal life. They pass from death to life.” The woman needed Jesus.Jairus needed Jesus. That little 12-year-old girl needed Jesus. And so do you. Turn to Jesus. Only Jesus can give meaning to your life and hope beyond death. Everyone needs Jesus. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years. We have reached the finale of our series, The Anchor of Now. After a week of landing, resting, grounding, protecting, nurturing, and surrendering, we arrive at the final emotional arc: Embody. Today is not about practicing a technique; it is about becoming the practice. We move from "doing" meditation to "being" meditative. Drawing on the neuroscience of neuroplasticity, we reflect on the week's journey and solidify our new foundation. In today's episode: Science: Neuroplasticity—how you have literally rewired your brain this week. Insight: The joy of Being. Reflection: A guided journey through your 7-day transformation. But if you're looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you at ginstephens.com/community. Jayne is an animal communicator. She began her fasting journey in January 2022, inspired by a friend who practiced the 16:8 fasting method. Despite not experiencing rapid weight loss, with only a 21-pound loss over 18 months, Jayne emphasizes the non-scale victories she has achieved, such as improved energy levels, reduced need for thyroid medication, and better overall health. She discusses the challenges of menopause, and the importance of mindset in her journey.Throughout the conversation, Jayne highlights the significance of adapting fasting methods to individual needs, such as transitioning to alternate-day fasting (ADF). She shares her experiences with various diets and the realization that intermittent fasting offers a sustainable lifestyle rather than a quick fix. Jayne and Gin also discuss the impact of genetics on weight and health, and the importance of listening to one's body. Takeaways:• Intermittent fasting can lead to significant non-scale victories, such as improved energy and health, even if weight loss is slow.• Mindset and community support play crucial roles in maintaining a sustainable fasting lifestyle.• Genetics can influence weight and health, highlighting the importance of personalized approaches to fasting.• It's essential to eat enough during eating windows and choose nutritious foods to support fasting success. At the end of the episode, Jayne has three pieces of advice for anyone new to IF: 16:8 may not be enough for you to see weight loss, make sure you eat enough rather than accidentally over-restricting, and what you choose to eat to close your eating window can affect the next day's fast.Join Gin in the new Fast Feast Repeat app for The Grown-Up Year: 52 Weeks to Listen, Play, and Nourish, as well as a growing collection of intermittent fasting resources. Does your to-do list feel endless? Try this short, guided practice to help you reflect, reconnect, and release the pressure to do it all perfectly. How To Do This Practice: Find a Comfortable Posture: Sit or stand tall with a sense of dignity, grounded, yet relaxed. Take Three Cleansing Breaths: Inhale twice through the nose, then exhale slowly through the mouth. Repeat this three times to settle into the moment. Scan Your Body from Head to Toe: Gently bring your attention to each part of your body, noticing sensations and letting go of any tension as you move downward. Visualize Your To-Do List as Floating Bubbles: Imagine each task as a bubble above you. Observe them without judgment, simply noticing their presence. Ask Reflective Questions: Is it the number of tasks that's overwhelming, or is it fear of forgetting, failing, or letting someone down? What's truly fueling your stress? Recenter with Gratitude and Self-Compassion: Acknowledge that being needed is a form of purpose. Remind yourself that even if not everything gets done, you are still enough and already whole. On Day 5 of The Anchor of Now, we explore the emotional arc of Nurture. Often, when we worry about the future, we treat ourselves harshly, as if we can "scare" our way into being prepared. Today, we return to the Muladhara (Root) Chakra with a softer lens. By combining the science of the Vagus nerve with Eckhart Tolle's wisdom on "Being," we learn that the most productive thing we can do for our future is to deeply nurture our present state. In today's episode: Science: How the Vagus nerve acts as the body's internal "nurturer." Insight: Why your "Being" is more important than your "Doing." You Don't Need Everyone

Hey friends, Chase here Let's talk about something that quietly holds a lot of creators back — the belief that your work needs to resonate with everyone. It feels natural. We're wired for connection. We want to be seen, appreciated, recognized. That's human. But when that instinct starts driving your creative decisions, it can pull you further and further away from the very thing that makes your work meaningful in the first place. So here's the truth I want you to hear clearly: You don't need everyone. Not their approval. Not their attention. Not their validation. In fact, trying to get all of that is one of the fastest ways to dilute your voice and disconnect from what matters most. This episode is about what happens when you stop chasing everyone — and start creating from a place that's actually true to you. The Core Idea If you try to make something for everyone, you end up making it for no one. I see this all the time — creators, entrepreneurs, builders of all kinds trying to shape their work so broadly that it appeals to the widest possible audience. And on the surface, that makes sense. More people should mean more opportunity, right? But in practice, the opposite tends to happen. When you aim at everyone: Your message gets softer Your point of view gets less clear Your work becomes harder to connect with Because the things that actually resonate — the things that stick — are specific. They're personal. They come from a real place. The goal isn't to be liked by more people. The goal is to be meaningful to the right people. What You'll Hear in This Episode This is a short, focused episode, but it cuts right to the heart of what matters: Why we're wired to seek approval — and how that instinct can quietly shape our creative decisions The hidden cost of trying to please everyone — and why it leads to weaker work The simple framework for creating work that actually resonates Why authenticity isn't a buzzword — it's a requirement for connection How small audiences can create big impact when the alignment is right Timecodes (So You Can Jump to What You Need) 01:51 – Why creators feel pressure to be liked by everyone 02:21 – The problem with trying to appeal to everyone 03:22 – Why pleasing everyone leads to weaker results 03:45 – The three-step framework: create, share, repeat 05:01 – Why people can feel whether you love your work 06:19 – Stop looking sideways and start creating from within 07:08 – Why you don't need a massive audience to succeed 08:13 – Finding your people through consistent creation The Shift That Changes Everything There's a subtle but powerful shift at the center of this conversation: Stop trying to get your work liked. Start making work you actually like. That might sound simple, but it's not always easy. Because it requires you to: Trust your own taste Follow your own curiosity Create without immediate validation And that can feel uncomfortable — especially in a world that constantly shows you what everyone else is doing. But here's the thing: People can tell. They can feel when your work is coming from a place of genuine interest, curiosity, and care — versus when it's shaped to chase trends or approval. And over time, that difference compounds. You Don't Need Everyone — You Need the Right Few One of the biggest myths in modern creative culture is that success requires a massive audience. Millions of followers. Huge reach. Constant visibility. But the reality is much more grounded. You don't need thousands of people to love your work. You need a small number of the right people. People who: Understand what you're making Connect with it deeply Care enough to engage, support, and share And those people don't show up all at once. They show up one at a time. Through consistent work. Through honest expression. Through putting something real into the world over and over again. Questions to Ask Yourself If you want to turn this episode into something practical, start here: Where am I trying to please everyone instead of being specific? What kind of work do I actually love making — regardless of response? Am I creating from curiosity, or from approval-seeking? Who are the "right people" for my work? What would I make if I stopped worrying about being liked? A Simple Practice If this idea resonates, here's something you can do right away: Make one thing this week that you genuinely care about Don't optimize it for reach Don't shape it for approval Just make it true to you Then share it. Not because everyone will like it — but because the right people might. And that's how this works. Final Thought The more you try to be everything to everyone, the harder it is to be anything meaningful at all. So stop chasing the crowd. Start making what matters to you. Share it. Repeat. You don't need everyone. You just need your people.

This encore presentation revisits our conversation with Natasha Miller Williams, a speaker and writer who brings data and insight together to advance the conversation about inclusion in the workplace. Together we explore a powerful idea: one person can challenge an established system. We talk about why systems inside organizations often continue long after they stop serving people well, and how leaders at every level can begin shifting them. Natasha introduces the S.E.E.R. approach: See, Expect, Express, Repeat. It offers a practical way to recognize unfair or unbalanced systems, speak up with clarity, and stay committed to change even when resistance appears. We also discuss the responsibility leaders have to create environments where people feel safe sharing perspectives that may be unpopular or overlooked. When leaders listen with empathy and act on what they hear, they strengthen trust and open the door for better decisions. This conversation reminds us that meaningful change often begins with one voice choosing to speak.Key HighlightsOne Voice Can Start Change – We explore how any leader, regardless of title, can challenge systems by speaking up and sharing a perspective that may not yet be represented in the room.Awareness Comes First – We learn why noticing whose voices are heard and whose are missing is the first step toward creating more balanced and inclusive systems.Clarity Drives Better Outcomes – We discuss the importance of knowing the outcome we expect when challenging a system so conversations stay focused on meaningful change.Communication Shapes Influence – We look at how understanding what others value helps us express ideas in ways that increase the chances they will be heard and acted on.Persistence Creates Momentum – We reflect on why challenging systems requires patience, support from others, and the courage to keep going when change takes time.About the Guest:Natasha Miller Williams is a speaker and a writer who brings data and insights together to advance the conversation on inclusion in the workplace. In Day 2 of our series, The Anchor of Now, we shift from the physical "landing" of Day 1 into the deep emotional arc of Rest. Most of us treat rest as something we do only when the work is finished—but when it comes to the mind, rest is a choice we must make amidst the chaos. Drawing on the transformative wisdom of Eckhart Tolle's highly acclaimed book, "The Power of Now," we explore the concept of the "psychological clock" and how to step out of it. She embarked on her intermittent fasting journey after being introduced to the concept by a friend in September 2020. Initially drawn to the health and wellness benefits, Lisa found that fasting helped her manage stress-related eating and maintain her weight more effectively. Although she didn't have a significant amount of weight to lose initially, intermittent fasting provided a structure that helped her navigate fluctuations due to stress and lifestyle changes. Over time, Lisa has experienced weight loss and weight maintenance, finding a balance that supports her health goals while allowing her to enjoy a flexible, plant-based diet.Takeaways:• Lisa started intermittent fasting after being introduced to it by a friend. She began with the "Intermittent Fasting Podcast" and found it aligned with her interest in health and wellness.• Lisa transitioned to a vegan diet before starting intermittent fasting. She experimented with her diet, including a period of increased protein intake, but ultimately returned to a plant-based diet, occasionally including eggs and some dairy.• Lisa emphasizes modeling positive behavior for her daughters, focusing on being a positive role model as a tall woman and encouraging them to make healthy food choices without emphasizing diet culture.• Lisa acknowledges being a stress eater and discusses how intermittent fasting helps her manage food intake during stressful times.• Lisa values the support and resources available through podcasts and communities, which help her stay informed and motivated on her health journey. At the end of the episode, Lisa encourages listeners to fast clean, and to keep track of their fasts/windows. She also emphasizes not to start ADF too soon and to listen to your body along the way.Join Gin in the new Fast Feast Repeat app for The Grown-Up Year: 52 Weeks to Listen, Play, and Nourish, as well as a growing collection of intermittent fasting resources. Dave Crysler breaks down why constant firefighting in your business is not a workload problem, a people problem, or a busy season. It is a system you built. Through years of reinforcement, leaders unintentionally become the gatekeeper of every decision, every problem, and every task, and the organization learns to stop thinking for itself. The good news is, because you built it, you can rebuild it a completely different way. What You'll Discover: • Why firefighting mode is a system you designed, not a phase you are stuck in • How leaders unintentionally remove critical thought from their teams through reinforcement • The reactive maintenance trap, and how one equipment failure triggers a cascade that touches every part of the business • Why you never have time to be proactive, but always find time for emergencies • What firefighting culture does to your team, from turnover clues to people who stop contributing ideas entirely • The "Groundhog Day" question every leader needs to ask themselves in the mirror • Why the middle management layer faces the hardest version of this problem, with pressure from above and below • How Clarity, Consistency, and Accountability provides the sequential path out, and why the order matters • Where Planning, People, Process, Technology fits when you start rebuilding • How the Plan, Execute, Review, Revise, Repeat cycle replaces reactive fixes with real forward progress If you are spending every day putting out fires and never getting to the work that actually moves your business forward, this episode lays out exactly what is keeping you stuck and the framework to start rebuilding.

What if the career you worked so hard to build, the identity you constructed piece by piece, was never really yours to begin with? What if the version of you that shows up every day, doing the job, earning the title, ticking the boxes, is simply the most convincing role you have ever played? For most of us, the idea of walking away from success feels reckless. We are taught to chase it, protect it, and measure our worth by it. But what happens when success starts to feel like a costume? And what happens when something deeper, quieter, and far more real begins to call you away from it all? That is exactly the question at the heart of this conversation with Frank Elaridi: four-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, former producer at Good Morning America, energy healer, and one of the most quietly radical thinkers you will encounter in this space. The Moment the Career Ended Frank spent 12 years covering the biggest stories in the world. Hurricanes. Mass shootings. The Oscars. Interviews with popes, presidents, kings, and queens. By any measure, it was the career most people spend a lifetime chasing. Then one afternoon in Austin, Texas, he was pulled off a romantic holiday to produce a last-minute interview. Standing in the middle of a frantic, frustrating production, a single thought arrived with complete clarity: This is not my life. It was the last thing he ever did for ABC. What followed was not a crisis. It was, in Frank’s words, simply the next unfolding. His Vedic astrology chart had predicted the transition. Multiple healers across different countries had been telling him for years that he was a healer. A Curandera in Mexico had pointed to his heart and laughed when he insisted he was a journalist. None of it had landed until it was meant to. You Are Not the Body. You Are Not the Mind. Frank’s work as a claircognizant energy healer is built on a single, radical idea that sits beneath everything he teaches. You are not the body. You are not the mind. And the moment you truly understand that, not as a concept but as a lived experience, everything changes. This is not a philosophy to admire from a distance. It is a daily practice of turning attention back to the one who is watching, asking the question that collapses all others: Who is it that is seeking? Frank describes three distinct paths people take toward liberation. The left-hand path moves through darkness and shadow. The right-hand path is the way of love, sainthood, and service. And then there is the direct path: self-inquiry. Not processing trauma layer by layer. Not accumulating spiritual practices. Simply finding out who you are from the source of where all of this arose. Three Practices to Carry With You Today Frank closes the conversation with three grounded, accessible practices drawn directly from his teaching: 1. The A Course in Miracles Affirmation. Anytime you feel wronged, dismissed, or hurt today, try this: It is not this I would look upon. I trust my brothers who are one with me. This is forgiveness at its deepest level. Not grace. Not tolerance. Complete detachment from the idea that anything real was ever done to you. 2. The Self-Love Body Practice. Place your left hand palm-up in your lap. Move your right hand to your heart and say: My heart, I love you. Then your eyes. Then your head. Repeat the cycle. Frank shares that people in his community regularly begin to cry during this practice. Consciousness, he says, is self-love. This is how you worship that. 3. The Pre-Sleep Self-Inquiry. Before you fall asleep tonight, ask yourself: Who was I before birth? Who will I be a hundred years from now? Meditate on death as though sleep itself were dying. Little by little, the grip of fear and false identity begins to loosen. Frank Elaridi is the co-author of the Modern Nirvana Oracle Deck, published by Chronicle Books, a TEDx speaker, and the founder of Awaken The Healer Within, his online course and community helping holistic practitioners build thriving healing businesses. Megan chats with Emily Christensen about turning strategic Instagram growth into a six figure blog in under a year. Emily Christensen is a sourdough baker, educator, and food blogger behind Country Roads Sourdough. What started as selling bread locally and teaching community classes grew into a profitable food blog after she leveraged Instagram to build trust and drive traffic. Emily monetized her blog within a year and now helps home bakers make sourdough feel simple, approachable, and realistic for everyday life. Emily went from teaching local sourdough classes and selling bread out of a tiny kitchen to qualifying for Raptive in just a few months. This episode breaks down exactly how she used Instagram to drive serious traffic, build multiple revenue streams, and treat her blog like a real business from day one. If you are an experienced food blogger wondering whether Instagram is still worth your time, this conversation gives you a clear answer and a practical roadmap. Key Topics Discussed: -Social media is a discovery engine, not the end product. -Viral content often comes from unique angles, not high search volume keywords. -Repeat the hooks and formats that already work. -Publish the blog post first, then drive traffic from Instagram. -Build systems and hire help before burnout forces you to. -Treat your blog like a real business from the start. Understanding DMOs: How Tour Operators Can Build Real Destination Partnerships

Mitch Bach talks with Jenn Barbee, co-founder of Destination Innovate, about the real inner workings of DMOs, those three letters that every tour operator has an opinion about but few actually understand. Jenn has spent 30 years inside destination marketing, from a shoestring US Department of Commerce team trying to promote America on a $50,000 budget to her current work closing the gap between DMOs and the small businesses they are supposed to serve. The conversation covers how DMOs get funded, why they sit on valuable visitor data, and what tour operators can actually do to get beyond the dead-end website listing. It goes further than the typical "how to work with your tourism board" advice. Jenn and Mitch get into the identity crisis hitting tour operators and DMOs at the same time: both are losing ground to OTA platforms, both need direct guest relationships, and neither is building enough local partnerships to fight back. They talk short-term rental hosts as untapped referral channels, guerrilla marketing tactics that cost almost nothing, and the hard truth about inbound tourism to the US heading into World Cup and the 250th anniversary.Key TakeawaysYour DMO has expensive visitor data that could sharpen your product, pricing, and ads, but they will not hand it over unless you ask. 06:14 – 07:19 DMOs invest in data about visitor appetite, competing markets, and traveler clusters by neighborhood and interest type. That information rarely trickles down to small tour businesses because DMOs feel pressure to contextualize it or fear judgment on their numbers. Frame your ask around strengthening the destination's tourism product, not just helping your business, and you stand a real chance of getting access to insights you could never afford on your own.The single best first move with your DMO is to find the community manager and introduce yourself with specific visitor language, not a sales pitch. 11:48 – 12:58 Audit your tour product against what the destination website is promoting in terms of itineraries or themes, then reach out where you see a match or a gap. Lead with collaboration. Once you have that baseline, you can inch toward higher-value asks like data sharing or co-promotion, but only after you have earned the relationship through showing up and being useful.Survey your customers about whether they booked the experience before the hotel, then bring that data to the DMO. 56:29 – 56:39 If you can show a DMO that your tour attracted bed nights, you are speaking their only real language: occupancy and bed tax justification. Most tour operators never collect this data, and most DMOs have never seen it from a small business. It positions you as a strategic asset rather than another name on a listings page.DMOs are shifting from marketing organizations to stewardship organizations, and that tension is something you can use. 08:50 – 09:59 Many DMOs now describe themselves as "destination management" or "stewardship" organizations, moving toward what is right for their communities. Their boards and bed tax collectors still want heads-in-beds KPIs. If your tour disperses visitors into underserved neighborhoods, supports local businesses, or tells a more honest destination story, you become the kind of partner that helps a DMO justify its new direction to the people holding the purse strings.Getting listed on the DMO website is a win. Stop underestimating it. 13:10 – 13:45 Many operators treat a listing as table stakes, but some DMOs do not even offer that without a paid membership. If you are listed, follow up by tagging the DMO constantly on social media and feeding them content they can reshare within their brand guidelines. The social media managers have more flexibility than the executive staff and will amplify content that feels fresh or on-brand.If your local DMO is stuck promoting only the marquee attractions, skip them and go to the state level. 17:38 – 18:32 A DMO locked into bread-and-butter promotion is usually in protection mode, worried about occupancy numbers. State tourism offices have embraced experience-driven programming and are more open to working with operators who tell a broader story. For most small tour businesses, the state governor's conference on tourism is where accessible DMO relationships start.Short-term rental hosts are closer to the guest than any DMO, and tour operators should be building direct relationships with them now. 24:31 – 26:00 Short-term rentals nationally overtook hotels in occupancy as of September 2025. Those hosts talk directly to guests about what to do in town. A recommendation from a local Airbnb host is warmer than any OTA listing and costs zero commission. Finding them is manual (social media DMs, local searches), but the payoff is a direct referral channel with no middleman.Stop chasing first-time visitors. Loyal, repeat visitors spend more, stay longer, and sustain the businesses that matter. 32:49 – 33:32 DMOs and operators both fixate on acquiring new customers while ignoring the people who already love the destination. Repeat visitors become patrons of smaller, niche experiences and local businesses. For multi-day operators especially, a returning guest who books a deeper or different tour is more profitable than constantly feeding the top of the funnel.Identity beats branding. Know who you are and say no to the rest. 38:44 – 41:27 Jenn draws a hard line between brand (what you market) and identity (who you actually are and who you serve). When you lead with identity, you market less because the right people find you. That means turning down some customers and product ideas, which is terrifying for newer operators, but it prevents the bland, generic positioning that makes you invisible on platforms like Viator and GetYourGuide. The "book direct" movement matters for tour operators just as much as it does for short-term rentals and hotels. 42:58 – 44:28 Hotels lost roughly 80% of their distribution to OTAs. Tours and activities sit around 40% OTA-controlled, which means there is still time to build direct channels. DMOs missed the OTA boat the first time and are caught in a relevancy crisis. That creates a shared interest: both of you need to reclaim the guest relationship before the platforms own it entirely.Guerrilla, person-to-person marketing is the only thing worth betting on in this environment. 34:16 – 35:03 Replace coffee sleeves at a local shop for a week with a message like "next time mama's in town, try this." That costs almost nothing and puts your name in front of a local audience in a real, physical moment. Operators burning money on flashy ad campaigns and agencies are losing to the ones doing the manual work of building one relationship at a time.Bring tour operators, short-term rental hosts, and local businesses into the same room. The collaboration that comes out of it is worth more than any campaign. 30:35 – 32:17 A 12-person Tourpreneur meetup in Dallas turned competitors into collaborators planning joint tours before they left the room. Those rooms should include short-term rental hosts, restaurants, coffee shops. Nobody is organizing these cross-sector local gatherings yet. That is the opportunity.Rethink the "travel presentation at the library" model. Gather local people around something that is not your tour. 53:23 – 54:46 Jenn pitches a revival of the house-party model for travel: 10 to 15 people, food, conversation, then introduce the experience. For multi-day operators, this replaces the stale slide deck. Book clubs are surging. House gatherings are surging. The sale happens because you built trust in a personal setting, not because you ran a Facebook ad.Quirky, unpolished video cuts through. But virality does not equal business success. 36:32 – 37:38 Behind-the-scenes, day-in-the-life content is what is actually getting traction on social right now. The less templated and less AI-generated it feels, the better it performs. Use that attention as a hook, then shift to collaborative content and real relationship-building that converts. A weird 30-second clip of your tour prep is worth more than a polished banner ad.The inbound tourism situation in the US is worse than most operators realize, and pretending otherwise is a losing strategy. 48:28 – 50:43 Canadian airlines are pulling US routes for summer 2026. Sixteen countries now have travel advisories against

At 2 a.m. I almost made this episode “Baal and Moloch for Dummies.” Instead, we're talking about something arguably more relevant: the rise of the adult toddler in the US.We start light. Why I'm a Karen, potato balls, what I couldn't do if you pointed a gun to my head, Super Bowl party drama, Valentine's Day, home decor updates, hyperfixations (spoiler: whales and deep lakes lol) and childhood nostalgia. Plus additions to the official “TJMS Love and Hate List” and it's brutal and mean for no reason! Then we zoom out.Every week we're mad at something new. Epstein this, Trump that. Anti-Semitism. Pedophiles. Left vs right. Pick a side. Repeat. The cycle is destabilizing by design. It keeps you reactive, flooded, and convinced you're living through the worst moment in human history. If you find yourself spiraling about headlines every week (like I do on my podcast!), that's the trap. Adults are not meant to live in a constant state of emotional whiplash and we need to know less. I'm not saying disengage. I'm saying grow up, develop some composure, read history, go outside, and get perspective. I break down what I'm picking up from the Epstein files, Ghislaine Maxwell's deposition, Pam Bondi's congressional hearing defense of the Justice Department, former Prince Andrew arrest updates, Nancy Guthrie developments, Michael Jordan controversy, and why it feels like everyone is constantly whining like a 2 year old. It's not about the headlines. It's about how we're behaving. The episode concluded with Bret offering advice for coaches who didn't have a great season, encouraging them to face reality, challenge themselves with innovative solutions, and focus on building strong relationships.Bret Burchard is the co-founder of ChampionShift where he helps elite coaches build high-performing teams fast. The Kindness Paradox That Changes Your Child's Mental Health

When your child is anxious, lonely or flat… your instinct is to comfort them. But what if the fastest way to help them feel better isn’t self-care — it’s helping someone else? New research reveals a powerful mental health shift that happens when kids practise kindness outward instead of inward. The results are surprising — and incredibly practical for everyday family life. In this Doctor’s Desk episode, we unpack the science behind the “kindness paradox” and show you exactly how to use it at home this week. KEY POINTS A study of 777 adults found helping others reduced depression, anxiety and loneliness. Self-kindness reduced depression — but didn’t touch anxiety or loneliness. Kindness toward others builds connection, and connection is at the core of mental health. Feeling like you matter changes everything. Small acts (compliments, thank you notes, cookie drops) create powerful emotional shifts. Teaching kids outward kindness may be one of the simplest wellbeing tools available. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “The fastest way to feel better about yourself is to help someone else feel better about their life.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Study published in Emotion on prosocial vs self-focused kindness interventions The concept of “mattering” in psychological wellbeing research ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Ask at dinner: “Who did you help today?” Plan one small act of kindness as a family this week. Encourage compliments to strangers, teachers or friends. Write one handwritten thank-you note together. Repeat it next week — aim for three acts of kindness. DOP 340: Why Operations Teams Resist Every Technology Wave

    DevOps Paradox

#340: The smartest ops people are often the most likely to resist new technology -- and they're not wrong. If you don't change anything, nothing breaks, and nobody blames you. That's a completely rational choice. It's also the one that guarantees you fall behind. Bare metal to VMs, VMs to cloud, cloud to Kubernetes -- every time, the teams that played it safe ended up scrambling to catch up two years later. The safe bet isn't safe. It just feels that way. It gets worse when you look at where the tools come from. Kubernetes? Built by developers. Terraform? Developers. Containers? Developers. The tools ops teams depend on were made by a different tribe. So the pushback isn't really about whether the tech is ready or whether the risk is too high. It's about identity. 'Not my people' is a harder objection to overcome than 'not ready yet,' because no amount of documentation or proof-of-concepts answers it. And about proof -- everyone wants it before they'll move. But the proof already exists. It's the tool someone on your team has been running in shadow IT for a year without any official support. If it survived that long on its own, that's stronger evidence than any pilot program. That's your roadmap. And the way in is small chunks, not grand plans. Move one service. Learn something. Adjust. Repeat. AI in ops follows the exact same pattern. A tool that gets you 50% of the way there for free means you can focus your expertise on the other 50%. That's a win. But the people waiting for AI to be perfect before they'll touch it? They're making the same mistake as the teams that waited for perfect proof before migrating to the cloud. Different decade, same trap.   YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/devopsparadox   Review the podcast on Apple Podcasts: https://www.devopsparadox.com/review-podcast/   Slack: https://www.devopsparadox.com/slack/   Connect with us at: https://www.devopsparadox.com/contact/

Live from Joe's mom's basement (where humility is encouraged and spreadsheets are optional), the crew tackles a deceptively simple question. If most people think they're above average with money, what advice actually helps someone who isn't? Joe Saul-Sehy, OG, Doug, Jesse Cramer, and guest Whitney Hanson (Money Nerds podcast) run a thought experiment inspired by Morgan Housel's observation that nearly everyone believes they're financially smarter than the median. What straightforward moves keep someone from needing last minute financial Hail Marys? The answer isn't flashy. It's systems. Whitney kicks things off with a practical starting point: identify your knowledge gaps. Tools like Investor.gov quizzes can reveal blind spots, and she suggests theming your learning (one focus per month) so financial literacy doesn't feel overwhelming. From there, the conversation turns to controllables: cash flow, savings rate, lifestyle inflation, and career capital. Because while markets bounce around, your habits are yours. The gang also introduces the idea of a tactile money leak audit, physically reviewing spending to spot waste that autopilot budgeting apps can miss. It's less glamorous than crypto speculation but far more effective. Investing gets reframed too. Instead of treating it like a mysterious Wall Street game, they suggest thinking of it as owning small pieces of companies you already know and use. Start small. Automate it. Build reps. Confidence follows action. Insurance and estate planning round out the episode. The crew urges listeners to shop multiple advisors, understand policy details before signing, use AI to help decode fine print without blindly trusting it, and avoid overconfidence just because something sounds right. Doug keeps things lively with trivia revealing that Johnny Carson's 1982 DUI fine was a very specific $603, and OG once again proves suspiciously good at guessing. What You'll Learn: Why most people overestimate their financial knowledge and what to do about it How to identify and close your personal money knowledge gaps The key financial variables you actually control How to perform a simple money leak audit Why small, automatic investing beats waiting for the perfect moment How to make investing feel familiar instead of intimidating The basics everyone should understand about insurance and estate planning Why repetition builds financial confidence faster than theory The Big Takeaway: You don't need advanced tactics. You need consistent systems. Focus on what you control. Automate the boring stuff. Learn one thing at a time. Build margin. Repeat. Because the goal isn't to be above average. It's to be steady enough that you never need a desperate Hail Mary. This Episode Is For You If: You feel like everyone else has money figured out except you Financial advice usually feels too complicated or assumes knowledge you don't have You're tired of feeling behind and want simple systems that work You want to build confidence through action, not just theory You believe steady progress beats trying to be perfect Question for You: What was the first simple money habit that changed your trajectory? Share it in the Spotify comments or The Basement Facebook group. Your small win might be exactly what another Stacker needs to hear.
