This episode was originally released on October 28th, 2017. Sex-starved, meet sex-hounded. Recently, the Dear Sugars inbox was flooded with responses to the two-part episode “Sexless Relationships” with Esther Perel. In those episodes, the Sugars answered letters from people who were longing for sexual intimacy with their partners. But many readers asked why we didn't address the other side of sexless relationships: the people who want less sex than their partners. In today's episode, we hear from a letter writer who feels pressured by her partner to have sex. “Every night — EVERY NIGHT — when we get in bed, he rubs my back to see if he can arouse me,” writes the letter writer." "Enough is enough.” Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond dig into the power dynamics that play out when one partner constantly demands sex. Then, they attempt to answer the question, “Is there such a thing as wanting too much sex?”

On the heels of my last podcast, talking about intense chemistry and whether it's a green or red flag, today I'm talking about the idea that relationships ought to be “SAFE”. I hear this word tossed around A LOT now. Everyone's talking about nervous system resetting and how SAFETY is the holy grail we all ought to apparently be looking for. I don't think it's safety we're after. It's something else entirely.

Send us a textHow hunger, hormones, and brain wiring make animals switch between parenting and aggression.Episode Summary: Dr. Johannes Kohl explains instinctive behaviors in mice, focusing on how hunger and estrous cycle hormones interact in the hypothalamus to toggle between parental care and pup-directed aggression in virgin females; he also details how pregnancy hormones rewire the medial preoptic area for robust maternal behavior before birth, revealing multi-timescale neural integration of internal states.About the guest: Jonny Kohl, PhD is a group leader at the Francis Crick Institute in London, heading the State-Dependent Neural Processing Lab.Discussion Points:Instincts are pre-wired, robust yet modifiable by experience and states like hunger.AGRP “hunger neurons” in the hypothalamus regulate hunger state and respond to environmental cues related to food.Hunger regulates parental care neurons in medial preoptic area (MPOA) via inhibitory peptides.Estrous cycle (4-5 days) in mice comes with fluctuations in estradiol & progesterone; their ratio, not absolute levels, gates aggression probability.Hormone ratio sensed in MPOA neurons via nuclear receptors altering gene expression of HCN ion channels, changing excitability.Pregnancy (20 days) boosts parental circuits in MPOA via hormone surges before pregnancy ends, enabling instant care at birth.Hormone fluctuations enable adult brain plasticity.Humans disrupt natural cycles (e.g., hormonal contraceptives, GLP-1 drugs) that have broad, poorly understood brain effects.Reference Paper:Study: Integration of hunger and hormonal state gates infant-directed aggressionRelated Episode:M&M 89: Neuroscience of Aggression, Sex, Behavior, Hormones, Emotion & Consciousness | David Anderson*Not medical advice.Support the showAffiliates: Seed Oil Scout: Find restaurants with seed oil-free options, scan food products to see what they're hiding, with this easy-to-use mobile app. KetoCitra—Ketone body BHB + electrolytes formulated for kidney health. We survived our live event! And better still we got to meet amazing Brainiacs and Susie got to witness Sarah embody the ghost of PeeWee Herman. It was incredible. We share how we violated one of our sacred principles when we participated in an activity we've previously railed against (we did not climb Mt. Everest). We discuss the woman who was left behind by a cruise ship on a deserted Australian island, and we debate how she died. Sarah reveals the age of the oldest crayon, but more importantly, we learn what it tells us about the human spirit. We talk about a controversial OnlyFans policy that is creating a MLM structure to the site. Sarah theorizes why costumes are getting hyperspecific, and Susie is mad about it. Plus, we learn about the female pitcher who struck out Babe Ruth, and why some people are calling foul.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Black Friday has come early at https://cozyearth.com! You're listening to Burnt Toast! I'm Virginia Sole-Smith. You're listening to Burnt Toast. I'm Virginia Sole-Smith. Today, my conversation is with Kaila Yu. Kaila is an author based in Los Angeles. Her debut memoir, Fetishized: A Reckoning with Yellow Fever, Feminism, and Beauty, came out earlier this fall to a rave review in The New York Times. She's also a luxury travel and culture writer with bylines in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The LA Times, Condé Nast Traveler and many more. Kaila's memoir grapples with her experience growing up Asian and female in a world that has so many stereotypes and expectations about both those things. We talk about the pressure to perform so many different kinds of specific beauty labor, the experience of being objectified sexually —and we really get into how we all navigate the dual reality of hating beauty standards and often feeling safer and happier complying with them. I learned so much from this book, and this conversation with Kaila. Don't forget that if you've bought Fat Talk from Split Rock Books, you can take 10% off your purchase of Fetishized there too — just use the code FATTALK at checkout. The Outer Realm welcomes Reinhard Denke and E. B. David Date: November 5th, 2025 EP: 637 TOPIC: Our Guests will be discussing their book " The Orb Incident - A True Account by E.B. David The Book: In the summer of 1982, something extraordinary happened in a silent forest of upstate New York—something that would alter one man's life forever. More than four decades later, screenwriter Reinhard Denke unexpectedly uncovered a long-hidden truth when a casual acquaintance, E. B. David, shared the harrowing details of that night for the very first time. What began as a simple recollection of a strangely glowing object soon unraveled into a chilling and deeply personal account of alien contact. Through an in-depth interview filled with probing questions and startling revelations, E. B. David describes not only the encounter itself, but also the profound psychological and physical effects that have haunted—and in some cases, enlightened—him ever since. Part confessional, part investigation, this gripping narrative offers a rare, intimate glimpse into one man's extraordinary experience with the unknown—and the lasting impact it has had on his life. This is the untold story of E. B. David. And it all began with a light in the sky. Also: Hört rein!

Prince Andrew's decision to host a party for Ghislaine Maxwell at Sandringham—where sex drugs like poppers were reportedly found—reads less like royal history and more like a bad dark comedy. The idea of a Queen's residence being turned into something resembling a low-rent Sopranos episode is almost surreal. The whole scene feels like parody: the Duke of York, standing beneath portraits of British monarchs, presiding over a soirée that sounds like Downton Abbey crashing headfirst into Trainspotting. It's especially grotesque given Epstein's reputation for avoiding drugs himself—he didn't need them, he used them on others. The thought of those same tools of control and exploitation making their way into a royal estate is equal parts absurd and revolting. What makes it worse is the total lack of accountability. The Palace still tries to frame these scandals as “private matters,” as though international sex trafficking and narcotics at royal residences can be brushed under the Windsor rug. Every new revelation cements Andrew as a man incapable of understanding—or even pretending to care about—the damage he's done to the Crown's image. Once considered a symbol of British decorum, Sandringham now sits as a monument to how far the monarchy has fallen, its history tainted by the stench of scandal and the arrogance of a prince who believed himself untouchable. In the end, Prince Andrew didn't just disgrace himself—he made royal scandal feel like a recurring sketch in a show that refuses to end.to contact me:source:Sex drugs 'found at party' disgraced Andrew hosted for Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in Sandringham, new Royal book claims | Daily Mail Online
Roman Emperors were famous for many things, including their often referenced apparent insanity. Part of this was a result of their upbringing and megalomania, and another part was probably metal poisoning. Either way, Caligula's appointing of a horse as consul, Domitian's ascent to godhood and his staged naval battles, Commondus' rigged games, Elagabalus' and Carinus' appointment of prostitutes and dregs to office, and Diocletian's persecution of those the mob detested, are all examples of this insanity. However, how is any of this different than what we see happening today? Biden's appointment of a mentally ill crossdresser to the DOE, the half-nude rainbow parties on the White House lawn, and his crackhead son nearby, are a Democrat example of the insane emperor motif, not to mention the dementia, drugs, cue cards, and military erraticism. Republicans may like to think this doesn't apply to them, but they would be mistaken. Trump's admin is not only plagued with mental decline, drugs, cue cards, and erratic military aggression, but parties with half-naked women, arrogant allegiance to a foreign power, and persecution of citizens in favor of foreign nations and random Christians in Nigeria. Carinus even appointed a forger to sign his papers, not unlike Biden's autopen or Trump's signing of whatever Stephen Miller hands him. This is all on par with countries appointing morbidly obese health ministers. It's all about intimidation, psych-warfare, and hubris, the latter of which the Romans said was the machine of tyranny. If hubris was the machine, then willing citizens to this tyranny are the fuel. But most are willing to wear their underwear on the outisde and change them every thirty minutes for the glorious new leader. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Saige Kiljoy is building a cult — a goon cult — and she's not shy about it. The OnlyFans powerhouse and self-proclaimed gooner leader breaks down what gooning really is (edging? trance? total submission to the spiral?) and why she's recruiting the largest “zombie-gooner horde” on earth. Cucks of every flavor show up for her, and she explains exactly why. This is femdom with teeth: control, humiliation, and genuine pleasure in the same breath. Saige talks power exchange, male and female cuck psychology, and how she stays dominant and turned on. She even gets specific about her preferred finish — from a dominant frame — and why it matters. There's a very famous name she calls out, plus the wildest requests she's fielded online. Smart, filthy, hypnotic. Welcome to EP 198: "Goon World" with Saige Kiljoy. Enjoy your stay.

In this episode of The Living Easy Podcast, Lindsey Maestas opens a biblical and deeply practical conversation about intimacy in marriage—because God makes all things new, even in the bedroom. Sex may not really matter to you, but it does matter to your marriage. See the FULL curriculum for: The Sex and Intimacy Project: A 4-Week Video Study a His + Hers Workbook for a Stronger Sex Life Lindsey unpacks how physical connection is both a spiritual and emotional act of service, not just a physical one. She discusses the dangers of pornography and limerence (infatuation during affairs), how these habits alter neural pathways, and how to create a sex life in your marriage that you don't need to escape from. You'll hear about: Why Scripture calls us not to deprive one another of sex (1 Corinthians 7:5) Why the clitoris reminds us that God created sex for pleasure How faking orgasms creates emotional distance and false intimacy What it means to "show and tell" in your marriage — teaching your spouse what makes you feel good during sex How foreplay actually begins outside the bedroom, through kindness, affection, and communication The importance of serving one another in physical foreplay The "microwave vs. crockpot" concept and understanding your spouse's arousal rhythms Seeing your partner's body as a book to study — learning, honoring, and cherishing it as a form of worship to God This is a conversation about reclaiming intimacy, breaking shame, and learning to experience sex as a holy gift that strengthens your connection rather than erodes it. When we become intentional about how we love each other physically, we build the kind of trust, pleasure, and connection that keeps our marriages from burning down.
