Ever wondered what Foreigner's biggest hit was? Or why they were called Foreigner in the first place? Maybe you'd like to know if there are any original members left and what happened to their lead singer? Did you see the band finally being inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? All of these questions and more answered this week as Foreigner co-founder Al Greenwood joins us for a chat. Al is best known as the keyboardist of the iconic rock band Foreigner, formed in 1976 alongside Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, Ian McDonald, Ed Gagliardi, and Dennis Elliott. His classical training and experience in jazz and progressive rock were essential in crafting the band's sound, which blended hard rock with sophisticated keyboard arrangements. During his time with Foreigner, Al contributed to the band's first three multi-platinum albums: "Foreigner" (1977), "Double Vision" (1978), and "Head Games" (1979). He co-wrote several of the band's hit songs, including the classic tracks "Cold As Ice" and "Blue Morning, Blue Day." After parting ways with Foreigner in 1980, Al didn't step away from the music scene. He went on to co-found the band Spys in 1981, a group known for their blend of rock, pop, and new wave influences. With Spys, Al continued to showcase his skills as a songwriter and keyboardist, releasing two albums that received critical acclaim for their innovative sound. Beyond his work with that band, he became a sought-after session musician, arranger, and producer, contributing to various artists across different genres. Al's work in the music industry also expanded into composing for film and television, where his versatility allowed him to create scores that resonated with a wide audience. His legacy with Foreigner, combined with his later projects, has cemented his reputation as a pioneering figure in rock music, particularly in integrating synthesizers into the genre. Today he plays with the 'new' Foreigner with singer Kelly Hansen out front. He says they're an act to behold. Al also tells us that the biggest thrill of his life has been the original band's induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame very recently and although it's long overdue, he's incredibly proud to have finally been recognised for the contribution that Foreigner made to the rock sound of the '70s. I hope you'll enjoy my chat with Al as he unravels much abut one of our best loved band's history.
In this History of Prints episode of Platemark, host Ann Shafer and subject matter expert Tru Ludwig explore the extraordinary life and legacy of Maria Sibylla Merian. Celebrated for her pioneering work on insect metamorphosis and her detailed illustrations of flora and fauna, Merian's journey took her to Suriname where she documented local species with the help of native people and slaves. Despite the societal constraints of the 17th century, she made significant contributions to both science and art, influencing future generations. The discussion also situates her achievements within the broader context of the Enlightenment and printmaking evolution, drawing comparisons with other naturalists like Audubon. The episode concludes with a teaser for an upcoming feature on William Hogarth, noted for his political satire. George Peabody Library, Baltimore, MD. Johann Zoffany (German, 1733–1810). Can you imagine a world without a need for fossil fuels? Even more incredible, can you imagine a time where all we would need is water to fuel vehicles? This wouldn't even be any special kind of water; tap water, spring water, water from a lake, or even melted snow would be sufficient to run your car. A man from Columbus, Ohio claimed to have invented a water powered automobile, and worked on its development from 1975 to the mid-1990s until his sudden death…

August 2022 This month instead of commemorating a World War 2 Anniversary, we have decided to do something a little different as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Bletchley Park Podcast. So after 10 years and more than 170 hours of content, we decided to answer our most frequently asked question, “How was Bletchley Park kept secret?”. Such a ‘big question' would be too much for just one historian to answer, so this month we have three. Our Research Historian, Dr David Kenyon & Research Officer, Dr Thomas Cheetham are joined by GCHQ's former Departmental Historian, Tony Comer as they delve into Bletchley Park's wartime Security & Insecurity. Special thanks to Dr Ben Thompson for voicing our archival documents. This episode features Wyn Ribchester from our Oral History Archive. Image: ©Bletchley Park Trust 2022 Producers Note: We would like to thank everyone who has helped to create the show over the last decade. The list is far too long for here, but I've included many of them in the middle of this show. Finally, the biggest thank you has to go out to our loyal listeners; we have so much fun making these shows for you. Thanks for sticking with us and here's to the next 10 years. #BPark, #Bletchleypark, #WW2, #Spys,

Spy Vs Spy are a true Australian working-class success story. After starting life as vocal supporters of Sydney's homeless squatters in the early part of the 1980s, the band evolved into a strong touring outfit that became the benchmark for pub rock in this country.Although never quite reaching the heights for which they undoubtedly deserved, Spy Vs Spy continued their assault on stages around the country, putting out a slew of successful singles including One of a Kind, Don't Tear It Down and Forget About The Working Week. After lead guitarist/vocals Michael Weiley succumbed to cancer in 2018, original drummer Cliff Grigg set about bringing the band back to its former glory, assembling a talented line-up of musicians to carry the Spys torch into the future while still respecting their past. The result is Spy Vs Spys first album in 28 years, New Reasons, which will be released later this year.To launch the comeback of sorts, the band has released their new single Overland, with Grigg joining HEAVY to talk about Spy Vs Spy and their plans."We're basically about three years old now, the new Spys”, he proclaimed. “Since Michael passed away we've been carrying the flag and his guitar is still with us and is basically the vehicle - the time machine - that Andrew has got to play. All of the songs on the new record, he has recorded with Mike's old guitar so his spirit is still with us still. The Spys are alive!"After such a prolonged absence on the music front, it was vital that the first new music with the revamped line-up not only captured the essence of Spy Vs Spy musically but also provided the impetus for a potential new generation of fans."Strangely enough it (Overland) was the track that we came up with last of all,” Grigg laughed. “We had to come up with ten. We had nine and that was the last one we had and Deano did amazing things. He wrote the lyrics overnight basically and they're brilliant. It's basically a story of surfing from the old days when bands used to go up the coast and play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at different venues. People would go up the coast with the band and go surfing at the next beach and go and see the band at the next venue. You'd find the same faces that were there at the Cloncurry bar are still with you at the Gold Coast."In the full interview, Cliff discusses the new single in greater detail, runs us through each track on New Reasons and their musical direction, reassembling the band after the loss of Michael, where Spy Vs Spy fit in to the modern music machine, their homecoming show at the Wickham Park Hotel in Newcastle on July 3 and more.

Welcome! Good morning, everybody. I was on with Jim Polito this morning and we talked about the Federal government buying data on US citizens that they got from spyware apps. Programmers, assumptions, and flawed logic of Self-driving cars. Also, Chinese spies, Bytedance, Tencent, and Huawei vs the Trump admin. Here we go with Jim. For more tech tips, news, and updates visit - CraigPeterson.com --- Automated Machine Generated Transcript: [00:00:00] Craig Peterson: Yeah. And that's been a trip that the feds have been using for a very long time. Now are basically almost since it became illegal. They go to data aggregators and they buy whatever they can. Good morning, everybody. Craig Peterson here. And that was me on with Mr. Jim Polito. We got into these hundreds of apps and it looks like there is a spy. Software on them that guess who the number one customer or appears to be? Yes, indeed. The federal guy. So we went into that a little bit. We got into this whole problem now that has been disclosed by AAA with these self-driving driver assist systems that have been steering people at full highway speed into the back of police cars into the back of fire trucks. [00:01:00] Imagine how bad that is. I've been on an accident scene where someone went full force right into the back of a firetruck before. We also got into the latest on this whole China dispute with we chat and Tik Tok. So here we go with Jim, Jim Polito: One of the most popular guests on the show. It is our tech talk guru and good friend, Craig Peterson. Good morning, sir. Craig Peterson: Hey, good morning, Mr. Jim. Jim Polito: Nice to hear your voice. Okay. I want to get into Tik Tok and, uh, some of the other stuff and self-driving cars, but I want to start with this. Hold on, everybody. All of those apps on my smartphone, are you saying that uncle Sam is watching me through those apps? Because I got page after page of them. [00:02:00] Craig Peterson: Well, first of all, the best rule, in general, is to delete apps you're not using right now. Now on your iPhone, it's going to automatically remove the app from your phone if you're not using it and it wants the space. So that's a handy thing, but just rule number one, remove it. Number two. You know this, I think already, Jim. It's illegal for the federal government to track its citizens unless you're part of the Trump campaign, right? Jim Polito: Wait a minute. Yeah. Define illegal because you know, like a Carter page and a lot of other people would, uh, would really like to have a talk with you about that. You're right. Members of the Trump campaign. Uh, not only track but unmasked in large numbers. Craig Peterson: Yeah. It's a scary thing. If the federal government comes after you and it's like this ton of weight, right. They only have what, a hundred thousand lawyers who know. And it's just little old you, losing your house. [00:03:00] Right. So they're not allowed to track you. So what do you think they do? I spoke about this on my show. I don't remember as long as ten years ago. I had some of these information brokers on my radio show. And what they do is they take what's known as publicly sourced information, also called open source. So they take stuff that they could find on the internet. They buy things like driver's license records from the state. The many States sell them to make a few extra bucks. I can't remember what the Commonwealth does if they do that or not. Jim Polito: No, they don't. They don't anymore. They don't anymore. When I used to work in business, I used to be able to buy, uh, public records, license information, address, all that. I used to be able to buy it. it stopped you couldn't after a while, they said, okay, we won't sell it anymore. But I used to pay dearly to get that information for marketing. Craig Peterson: Right. It can be really handy. A stage going just North of the new house. I am sure you can off when you go and get registered here car, or driver's license. [00:04:00] You can say, I don't want you to keep my social security number on file or my photograph on file. So the state doesn't keep it, but most States are not that way. So the government can't track you. So what do they do? They go to these data brokers because it's, he goes for them to buy all the information they want from a data broker. And that comes to the point right now that we're talking about, and this is a report from the Wall Street Journal. And according to, uh, according to the Journal here, And the report that they released, at least one federal contractor puts in government tracking software in over 500 mobile applications. [00:05:00] This is a company called Anomaly Six. They are paying application developers, mobile app developers here, to put just this little bit of code into their apps for tracking. So the app developer gets paid a few extra bucks. What the heck Anomaly Six gets all of the information that they possibly can from your phone. In some cases, everything on the phone, particularly if you've rooted your phone and then guess who buys it from them. Jim Polito: Ah, so, so the government can say we didn't do it. Well, we like this guy over here did, and we just bought it from him, but we didn't do it, Jim. Yeah. We didn't do it to you, but it just so happens. There's this data miner, uh, had code like ours, and what would exactly what we were looking for. And then we bought it from them. Craig Peterson: Yeah. And that's been a trick that the Feds have been using for a very long time. Now are basically almost since that became illegal. They go to data aggregators. And they buy whatever they can. [00:06:00] And so the aggregators they'll get information from the phone company and just everywhere you possibly look. So any fact, the federal government is probably by doing this, getting more information on you than if they were tracking you personally. So it's very concerning. Yeah. Jim Polito: Yeah. Craig Peterson: Yeah. The Wall Street Journal said that they had this information, they have the reports, they know the company, but the company, of course, isn't talking. And the wall street journal tried to figure out which apps it was in. They could not. So although the report is, this is going on and it makes a lot of sense that it would. W they're not like a thousand percent certain based on what I read in their article, but it's something that we've again, we've got to pull in some rains. [00:07:00] Jim Polito: Yeah. But let's do that. Speaking of pulling in range, we're talking with Craig Peterson, our tech talk guru all around. Great guy. So tell me about these self-driving cars. Uh, I've got my self-driving car and it will keep me in the lane and I've had the opportunity to drive some of these vehicles with all these latest technologies. Um, but if you come across a parked car, You may have a problem. What's this all about? Craig Peterson: Oh yeah. And the poor occupants of that parked car are going to have even worse problems. There are a number of different systems that are being used for driver-assisted driving or computer-assisted driving right now. So shelf driving not so much exists, but it's still there. They use the same types of technologies. Initially, they were using radar. To try and find stuff in front of them. A lot of them are using LIDAR, which is a very expensive technology, which again, again, is using lasers kind of like radar figure out where everything is, the distance for things moving, et cetera. [00:08:00] Right. Um, and then you've got Tesla who says, I don't want any of that offensive stuff. I'm just gonna use cameras. So driving down the road, this is a test that was conducted by the AAA and driving down the road. They had a car parked in the lane. Now it was just a balloon car basically. Okay. Parked right there in the lane. And every vehicle they tested that had any form of self-driving, rear-ended that just straight, dead on into, without even slowing down. Jim Polito: Why, how so? We couldn't determine. Yeah. Wow. Craig Peterson: Yeah. Here's how I'm. I'm sorry. Uh, you here's how here's why. Okay. These, the software again, have to make assumptions and to have written, I don't know, millions of lines of code over the years. [00:09:00] I couldn't say I've made a lot of assumptions about things, and you're trying to cover all of the possibilities when you're writing this code, but apparently. Everybody seems to make the same mistake, which is if there is something that is fixed, in other words, it's not moving. The question is, is that part of the road? Is that a sign that actually on the side of the road and the software universally appears to be making the decision that well, if it's not moving, it's part of the roadway and I'm probably getting a bit of a false signal here. So let's barrel on and they do. This is a really concerning thing. They have passed this information onto the national transportation safety board, and they've investigated several failed crashes with Tesla, which you have included crashing into parks, police cars, and fire trucks. That seems to be a little bit about what spawned this whole AAA in bed investigation you're crashing head-on, into a parked fire truck. Now, as you know, I was in emergency medicine for 10 years. I was at a scene once and it was icy, icy, icy. [00:10:00] It's the only time I've ever seen. A car went straight on into the back of a firetruck and that actually pushed it forward about 10 feet. Cause the guy was doing 80 miles an hour in a 65 zone. Yeah, this is very, very concerning. Again, everybody, you're supposed to have your hands on the wheel, you're supposed to be paying attention to where you're going because these systems are not mature yet. Jim Polito: Wow. That's something to keep in mind. All right. Quickly before we go. Any new news on Tik Tok and what's the other one We chat. Is that the other Chinese? Uh, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's called a We Chat. Yeah. Yeah. Craig Peterson: So the basic news that many people have probably heard is these two apps or out of China. One of those companies is owned by Tencent, the WeChat app, Tencent, which I talked about a few months ago, my radio show because they have some of the top video games in the world. People absolutely love these Tencent video games out of China again. Why I was talking about it because Tencent is doing something that frankly you should be well, not yet illegal, but no one should ever do. [00:11:00] They take complete control of your windows machine. They are running with Kernel level privileges, it lets them. See, okay everything on your machine, every file on your machine. So you install this Tencent video game and all of a sudden, no, your entire machine has the remote control on it. So President Trump said both the owners of We Chat and. Also Tik Tok, uh, has to be basically be sold to a US company at, within 45 days. But in 45 days, no money can go to either one of those companies from the United States. And personally, I think this is a very, very good move on the part of the Trump administration. [00:12:00] Jim Polito: Excellent. Well, listen. A good move for all of us would be to get more information from Craig Peterson, our tech talker guru. It's a smart move. As Michael Corleone said in godfather one. It's a smart move. Tessio was always smarter. So be Tessio and be smarter. Craig, how can folks get more information from you? Craig Peterson: Well, the best way is to get on my newsletter list. You'll get all my show notes. You'll find out about this free training, the lives that I'm doing. Just go to Craig peterson.com/subscribe. Craig peterson.com/subscribe. Jim Polito: Alright, Craig, look forward to catching up with you, um, next week. And until then, sir, be well, stay safe. Craig Peterson: All right, take care. And I'll be back, of course, Saturday at 11:00 AM with a little more in-depth stuff. Excellent. [00:13:00] Jim Polito: Good promo there. Excellent. Excellent promo Craig Peterson, everybody. All right. When we return a final word, you're listening to the Jim Polito show from my kitchen with pops. This is your safe space. Craig Peterson: I really like that guy, man. And it isn't just because he likes me apparently, but I think we've got some good dynamics. I'm going to be so glad when he gets back into the studio. These delays are a little bit annoying. You probably don't hear them if you're listening to the podcast. Cause I edit them out, but there's like a two, three second roundtrip time here from, uh, from him because he's not in the studio is at, at his home. Anyways. We made some good progress yesterday. I, uh, I had my video guy in here and we did some more work. Some more practice, shot some with cameras, I've got new, uh, polarizers here, some circular polarizers for my cameras. See if I can get rid of some of the glare coming from my glasses and stuff and the lights. [00:14:00] And so we're, we're making progress and. I'm really excited about it. So everybody take care and we'll be back tomorrow, as well, by the way. Thanks to Karen. She is getting all, everything caught up after this whole bout that we had. With just a really kind of crazy two months. Anyhow, take care of everybody and thanks for sticking with me. We'll talk later. Bye. Discover two cidermaking techniques that are also used in winemaking, called Maderisation and Bâtonnage. We delve into both of these topics in Part 3 of the Quarantine Quad Series called "Ask Ryan" with Ryan Monkman of FieldBird Cider, Ontario Canada answering questions from Cider Chat listeners. Maderisation: What is this technique and can it be used with cider? Bâtonnage: are there any short term benefits from bâtonnage or does one need to "stir up the barrel" for a long period (1 year at the least) to benefit from this technique? Listen Part 1 and Part 2 of the Quarantine Quad Series. Maderisation - The barrels are cooked - sometimes for years. Developing flavors called "maderised". If done well it can be delicious. High alcohol cider is best for maderisation - slower bacterial growth. Cider that is has a low alcohol by volume - likely to get organism spikes. FieldBird is planning to do a maderized cider from the 2020 harvest Northern Spy, fermented half way and fortified with apple brandy and let the barrel sit in a hot place. 17 Brix on the Spys (9%) ferment down half way and then add brandy. Getting 8% sugar. Sugar helps - creates the caramel flavor and provides an appearance of freshness. No MLF in the presence of sugar. Leave in cellar over the winter. Then leave the barrel outside all summer. 30 Celsius - 86 Farenheit. This will cause the maderisation The risk of maderisation is cooking a barrel to much The final product will be around 17-18% Battonage: Is it worth it if you don’t have a full year to do Bâtonnage on a barrel? Nano proteins are the biggest benefit of Bâtonnage They release into the cider providing a perception of sweetness and body with out the sugar Need at least 9 months to a year to get the nano proteins There are short term benefits. Yeast produces less carbon dioxide and bubbles. They slow down after the first primary ferment. Fermentation may have stopped but there is still sugar left. Lees absorb off aromas, except for H2S rotting egg smell. Bâtonnage helps to maintain a reductive state. Full reduction - rotting smell is a type of reduction. Which helps protect the cider from oxidization and protect the flavor components. In wine, a Sauvignon Blanc, has rich tropical flavors which come from a rich reductive state, At FieldBird, they save lees in the freezer. Cracking - the freeze helps the lees cells break down. Using frozen lees that have cracked - means it will takes only 4-5 months versus 8-9 months in the barrel to get the benefits from Bâtonnage Contact for Ryan Monkman at FieldBird Cider website: https://www.fieldbird.ca/ Instagram FieldBird https://www.instagram.com/fieldbird.cider/ Ryan Monkman https://www.instagram.com/rgmonkman/ Mentions in this chat Stories in Ciderville - send in fiction and nonfiction essays to read out loud on Cider Chat to ria@ciderchat.com September 1-6, 20202 England Cider Tour Help Support Cider Chat Please donate today. The Democrats and the media no longer attempt to hide their authoritarian nature. The left continues to ensure that we don't get accurate information on the threat of the CoronaVirus as they want the panic and hype to be as high as possible to justify enacting a police state. SpyGate continues to get worse as it is now proven that there was no basis for the FBI to investigate the Trump campaign. The newly declassified footnotes of the IG reports informs that the FBI knew in July of 2016 the information in the Steel Dossier was Russian disinformation, their Spys they sent into the Trump campaign came up empty, the FBI altered evidence, lied to the FISA courts, and withheld evidence that Trump and his campaign were innocent of the accusation the FBI was investigating. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejacobjohnstonshow/message

While Jon claims the trail of evidence has both political and satirical merit, Josh insists on an entirely different narrative. Is this another monumental case of collusion? Will Jon's furious offense break past Josh's ironclad defensive? What if God was truly one of us? Will peace ever truly be given a chance? Is this a spiritual awakening for a better tomorrow for the NTJ podcast? Perhaps the more you dig, the bigger sack you'll need to haul around your unruly bag of question marks. Yay God, Boo Devil. Let's do this.
Today's theme: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome The Korean government recently implemented a measure to drastically reduce work hours from 68 to 52 hours a week to help people find balance in work and life. Question is, is it really going to alleviate the five major physical or psychological illnesses among workers, including Chronic fatigue syndrome, along with VDT syndrome, mental or emotional disorder, depression and neurological gastrointestinal disorder. These illnesses are often associated with consequences of long work hours. Or do these have direct correlation with overworking hours? These are some of the questions we explore with expert guests under the theme of chronic fatigue. The Conversationalist with Dr. Ronald Davis - director of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Research Center at Stanford University It seems like there are different degrees of the disease and there are people who manage to maintain normal life having it, but on the other hand you have people who are bed-ridden - unable to move or speak due to this disease. Your own son suffers from a serious case of the disease - can you tell us more about how this brought you closer to the issue and made you more passionate about solving the problem? Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is very hard to diagnose let alone to cure. There are a number of challenges facing the patients and their families and friends, from finding the right doctor to facing some stereotypes. Can you tell us more about these challenges? & Professor Wei Wang - at School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University in Perth - the Director of the Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory-Centre of Excellence on Clinical Epidemiology in China. In many of the cases involving chronic disease, it's hard for patients or even doctors pin down specific name of the disease or symptoms. Can you describe the challenge of having ambiguous health complaints? How do we draw a line between Chronic Fatigue Disease and just regular fatigue? Two very popular options to trade are in the SPX S&P500 cash settled index and the SPY S&P500 ETF. Each offers unique benefits for options traders. Listen to this week's podcast to hear about the key differences between the SPX and SPY and some strategies for trading each. Podcast Transcript Sarah: Hi everybody, this is Sarah Potter welcome to the SCT podcast. We are in episode 36 and while I completely understand that when we do podcasts everybody is listening to podcasts at different times. TJ and I definitely wanted to highlight and have a discussion about something that's very relevant for this week. Now certainly our topic is going to be good for any of the weeks that are trading but it's especially important this week. So this week if you look at the market there's a lot going on. We have a lot of news, a lot of earnings, we have FOMC does a lot. So if you are even if you're not even an options trader, if you just trade stock, if you're just investing in the market this is a big week and we want to expect or anticipate that we will have relative moves to that. So what that means then is we're going to have many perhaps many of the stocks or trading instruments that you look at might look a little different. So what we decided to do is talk about some different opportunities to trade or different instruments to look at. So we're going to talk today about the differences between a cash-settled index versus ETFs. Now you guys know that we both like to trade those and certainly those are different instruments and they have different characteristics so we thought let's get into that so that people understand what they are like to trade and perhaps those are things you might want to go look at when you have a week on deck that has a lot of different news. So hi TJ. TJ: Good afternoon. Sarah: You like to trade the SPX a lot and I know that that's something that you do in the trading room and I would definitely say that you're really good at that. So could you start us off by explaining a little bit about what is a cash settle index and its characteristics? TJ: Okay, sure. I guess let's compare how to trade indexes. So the two basic ways our cash settle index like the SPX and any TF like the SPY so the major difference between the two is the SPX is cash settled. So that means you will never be assigned shares of the SPX, there are no shares to be assign. The SPX you can only trade options on the index. So at settlement if you are in the money, you either have money put in your cash, put in your account or cash taken out of your trading account instead of a typical option where you would have shares assigned to you. The SPY is an ETF so you can buy shares in the SPY so if an expiration day you are assigned you actually get the shares so that is the main difference between the two. The other differences is just the size of the contract the SPX is about ten times the value of the SPY so that comes into position sizing as well and we can talk a little bit more about that maybe later in the podcast. And the other major difference is how they expire and we'll about that a little bit I guess later or we can get into that right now, what do you think Sarah? Sarah: Sure, I mean I think expiry is a really important piece because that's something that when we get questions about when we're trading these instruments people don't sometimes realize that things can expire at different times especially in the SPX. So let's get to that. So this is a week that has a lot of earnings and new so especially Wednesday's FOMC and then SPX has expired on Wednesday. So in particular you like to trade SPX. Would you ever trade an SPX trade and have it expire on the same day that you have an FOMC announcement? TJ: You could, that would be a lot like an earnings trade you know the market has expectations and obviously you're expecting a big move so you can definitely set it up. Is that my strategy? No, that's typically not my strategy. The two strategies I really like are overnight trade in the SPX so basically holding it, buying at the day before expiration, setting up the trade holding it overnight and letting it expire the next day. The other trade that I really like is also today trade. So to look for you know potential credit spreads on a Friday. However we do have to look at and we can talk about this as well that those two trades primarily work best when there's higher implied volatility in the market and right now if anyone's paying attention to the SPX, I mean we know that I mean IV was you know a couple weeks ago even if the last week was 8, 9 which is extremely-extremely low. So the credit is just not necessarily there for those types of trades but definitely those are the two setups that I prefer when I do trade it. Sarah: But when the implied volatility be going up this week like perhaps this is a week that you want to pay attention to SPX because of all the news? TJ: Yeah, you would you would think that that FOMC would actually you know really make a difference in it, but it's actually it's not, it's not changing implied volatility, we're just even if we look at the VIX it's just pegged it right at the lows I mean we were talking about it in the trading room a couple weeks ago how you know we were down in the low 9s on the VIX and you know we had to look back 11 years, we had to look back you know almost 11 years back to 2007 before we really saw levels below 9 and I think it was a VIX with eight and a half, 8.5 I think was approximately the number that we saw and that was back in 2007 and we know what happened. You know I have you know six months to a year later we had the big crash of 2008 and no I'm not saying that what we're seeing now is it all the same, I'm just trying to say that you know we're at really-really low levels and you know the VIX doesn't really want to go lower but it doesn't want to go higher either because the market does keep going up. So you know it's kind of stuck in a range and Daphne you know events that we would typically see an increase in volatility a little bit but not enough to really make a difference in trading. Sarah: Okay. So those kind of change gears and start talking about ETF. So I know that in the trading room I get asked about SPY a lot it seems to be very popular instrument to trade and I want to specifically talk about it, obviously you guys all know that we both look at the ES which is the futures contract but they all represent the same thing, right? So this is the SNP and SPY in particular it is ETF so it's cheaper. So I think a lot of people really like to trade it because it doesn't cost as much to trade but I don't know about you but sometimes I find if I place trades or if I even look for trades and SPY it can be actually difficult to be able to actually get filled on a tray that you really like the charts can look really nice but when we move into the options chain sometimes to just things don't really line up. So a lot of times I'm not actually going to follow through on that trade because we can't see stuff except for weeks like this when you now have more news, more events that might potentially move the market if you are fearful of placing a trade, a futures trade in the ES or the SPX business setting up SPY can actually be a really good instrument right now. TJ: Yeah, I mean absolutely. I think that we have to keep in mind too what you brought up is absolutely right. So I mean we think about if we're getting say we're doing a credit spread in SPX and we're getting 30 cents you know we're potentially looking at 3 cents of credit in the SPY so it really doesn't make sense to almost trade for that 3 cents. So I think you know we may differ in that opinion is, I really rarely look at the SPY and I don't I don't really see the advantage to it. Sarah: Really? I can buy a call and SPY and have so much less risk because I don't have to put up as much in the trade and still be able to take advantage of the moves that can happen in the broader markets obviously the ETF is a representation of that. So I don't know, I like that, so to me looking out it this week and seeing, oh yeah, I expect the market to move quite a bit I think SPY is actually a really great trading instrument that I do want to be involved in because I don't have to put the risk up. Now you're probably talking about spreads, right? And trying to place a spread trade in SPYs almost impossible sometimes. TJ: Exactly and I think too that. Yeah, I guess if you're looking to buy puts and calls I do agree that we’re, yeah so it's a little bit cost prohibitive in the SPX. I mean you can be 20 points out on a put or a call you know risking two thousand dollars on per contract whereas you could do that risk two hundred dollars per contract in the SPX which is probably more in alignment. So I guess if you think about it that way, yeah I guess they're useful for different reasons. Sarah: Yeah, so a piece about SPY that I definitely want to mention is that, just because those are cheaper calls and puts to buy again they don't necessarily mean that they're going to turn into crazy profits, right? So if you're buying something and you see risked a dollar and you make thirty to fifty dollars on that trade that is a huge return on investment and so I think where people get wrong, go down the wrong way there with SPY is they start saying well I'm not risking that much but I still want to make a huge amount so I'm just going to let that run, run and run and you need to keep that all relative to how that instrument likes to move. So remember that SPY is cheaper than the other ones for a reason and that also is going to mean at that range that you're looking for needs to all be aligned with what is realistic. So realistic set realistic profit targets in SPY and I think that can be a really great trading instrument especially for just buying straight calls and puts. But you don't ever do SPY you do SPX so if we were to ask you like of the ES the SPX and SPY, which one is your favorite and why? TJ: That’s a really good question. I think I'm tied between the S&P, the ES contract, the options on futures, and the SPX depending on how I feel in terms of position sizing on that day, the ES contract is about half the size of the SPX give or take. So you can kind of fine-tune position sizing that way as well. So I'm kind of tied between the kind of between the two of them. One thing I do want to mention as well is that the cash settle index is like the SPX you have to remember that on monthly expiration, you have to trade a different contract. So every third week is a month if you want the contract that expires on Friday, you do need to trade the SPX p.m. contract because the SPX contract expires Thursday at the close but the pricing is based on Friday's open. So there's been quite a few traders who have been locked in, stuck in positions on you know overnight Thursday as the market gaps up Friday morning and a max profit goes into a loss and because the option stops trading on Thursday at the close but is still pricing Friday so you still see it in your account, the price is changing but you can't trade it. So it's really an odd situation if anyone's ever traded the SPX the third week and not realized that it expired the Thursday. Well that it stops trading the Thursday but again it's still pricing based on Friday's open and it's not even the open, it's the open of all 500 stocks in the S&P 500. So that doesn't even give you satisfaction when the market opens, it could be 5 or 10 minutes before they or 15 minutes before they figure out an actual settlement price. So just a little wrinkle there. Sarah: A little wrinkle. I think that's why a lot of people are afraid to trade SPX because of the expire reason and all the rules and trying to keep that in mind. So I mean if it was what you just heard TJ described was too stressful for you just to keep that in mind I mean remember you can still trade SPY or you can do the ES and sometimes even though with the size of the ES if you're doing a futures contract you might think, oh gosh, remember it's still an auction too, right? You're still doing an option on the futures contract, it does the same thing as the options and everything else it's just a different underlying a different trading instrument. So you know if SPX and understanding all of its different expiries is not something you're interested in then don't forget that you can also do options on futures on the ES. However I also want to mention with the SPX because it does have the different expiry, there's times during the week where the Friday expiry doesn't look good on the options chain but the Wednesdays do. So it really just depends of that week, what actually looks to be setting up and don't forget that I went like, it’s almost like double the trade opportunities there so you can be pickier about the ones that you really want and when they do setup definitely pick the one that's tailored for you. TJ: Exactly and one other thing too is I think that you know if we draw a line and we've got premium on one end and no premium on the other, you've got a stock like PCLN where there's ton of premium, there's a ton of people with different ideas, the index is like the SPX used by a lot of institutions for various reasons and they're priced pretty fairly in the market, there's not a lot of arbitrage, there's not a lot of you know a lot of profits, you know the sneaky profits if you want to call that to be had, it's pretty well traded, there's a lot of volume, a lot of institutions, a lot of big trading in the SPX, so if you see a lot of premium at a strike that you think is way out of the money and it'll never ever get there by Friday you know chances are there may be a good chance that it does, you know you don't get a lot of those opportunities to get that bonus premium like you might in a in a PCLN Sarah: Yeah, I mean I think that's good. Remember, they all have different characteristics but there's always going to be times when each of those are good to trade. So if you're afraid of the market swinging too much then adjust to the contract size that you like but make sure you remember that within each of those contracts that your profit targets need to be relative to how those individual stocks move. I think that's a good discussion this week. Don't be afraid this week if the market don't be afraid of news just make sure you're tailoring your trades to make to remember that we do have news and that volatility will change things. So happy trading everybody.

The reactor was bombed last September 6th before it attained its planned capacity to manufacture plutonium for nuclear weapons, the CIA says.Referring to Syria's "covert nuclear reactor" which was "damaged beyond repair on Sept. 6 of last year" - the statement last Thursday by White House press secretary Dana Perino, sharply criticized Syria, but did not mention that it was Israel that destroyed the nuclear reactor.Shortly after the Israel attack, Syria bulldozed the area and constructed a new building there, which it has not allowed foreign visitors to enter.CHECK THIS OUT: Syrian media reported on Wednesday that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has agreed to hand over the entire Golan Heights to Syria. What a paradox: Israel’s military wiping out a nuclear installation in Syria ... and then Olmert proposing to give away land (that belongs to Israel) to the Syrians.MUSICTHE MOSSADThe Mossad (le Modiyn ve le Tafkidim Mayuhadim ... the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations), through an oter, was able to place a plant inside the reactor compound to obtain high detail photos. The CIA displayed to US lawmakers images of a concrete floor with rows of holes ready for nuclear fuel rods to power the facility. One source said this: “Assad’s most treasured secrets and security were shown to the world as having been blown wide open, when the regime he heads depends for its survival on a battery of secret police and undercover agencies with eyes and ears everywhere.?Syria’s military establishment was penetrated as fatally as her secret service. Israel’s successful raid proved this.Let me say here, with all due respect to the Mossad and their use of katsas, the yarid and neviot, sayanim, Shickluts, marat and an occasional Arab oter, that G-d doesn’t even need spies. The man of God sent to the king of Yisra'el, saying, Beware that you not pass such a place; for there the Syrians are coming down. The king of Yisra'el sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of; and he saved himself there, not once nor twice. The heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said to them, Won't you show me which of us is for the king of Yisra'el? One of his servants said, No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Yisra'el, tells the king of Yisra'el the words that you speak in your bedchamber." Over a year ago on this podast gave information about terrorist plans against Hebrew University at Mt. Thanks for your help! Todah raba!MUSICDiplomatic relations between Syria will be greatly disjointed by the US Central Intelligence Agency revelations ... a beautiful strategic rupture. Iran’s makeup is worn off and she looks very old, haggard, and stupid right now: not like a strong Middle East military front. Iran’s own secret nuclear devices / locations should be subject to the same destruction ... soon!Hopefully, Israel will take my advice I have been giving for some months and attack Iran NOW! The Israeli attack on the Syrian reactor was a giant embarrassment for Iran, as well as Assad.Israel is to be congratulated. Gen. Eliezer Shkedy tells CBCNews 60 Minutes Bob Simon that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s threats against Israel must be taken extremely seriously. In an interview aired yesterday, April 27th, the general said: “I think it is a very serious threat to the state of Israel, but more than this, to the whole world. They are talking about what destroying and wiping us from the earth.?He said it reminds him of the Holocaust. “We should remember. We cannot forget, We should trust only ourselves.? Concerning General Shkedy’s remark, “We should trust only ourselves,? I agree wholeheartedly! Even though large US naval, air and marine forces on their way to beef up the Fifth Fleet in the Persian Gulf and Middle East, and another nuclear aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, will soon set out for the region from the South China Sea, along with two more US naval strike forces: the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Nimitz attended by strike groups are being aligned against Iran, don’t lean on them, Israel.MUSICGen. Shkedy likened ignoring Ahmadinejad today to the atmosphere that enabled the Holocaust yesterday. “In those days, people didn’t believe Hitler was serious about what he said. I suggest we do not repeat this way of thinking and… prepare ourselves for everything.?Let me PROPHESY here that G-d creates and allows situations to happen WHEN and WHERE He will get the glory. Why? So people ... Jews and goyim ... will know that He is G-d! G-d told Yechezkel the Kohen (Ezekiel), “I will magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations; and they shall know that I am the LORD.? (Tanach, Ezekiel 38:23)Veterans of the 1981 Israeli mission which destroyed Saddam Hussein’s nuclear reactor told the CBS interviewer: “Israelis hope they won’t have to undertake such a mission today, but a bombing mission to Iran… is a different thing.?Zeev Raz, commander of that mission, compared the situations as follows: “We had one point to destroy. They (Iran) have many points, many of them deep under the mountains… underground and it’s a much more complicated problem than in 1981(with Iraq). I hope it will be solved another way.?PRINCE HANDLEY NOTES ON THE IRAQ BOMBING IN 1981 France agreed to sell Iraq 150 pounds of enriched uranium after the 1973 energy crisis; it was enough to make four (4) nuclear weapons. Israel’s military intelligence unit, AMAN, wanted specific information on the Iraq project from David Biran, head of Tsomet, the recruiting agency for Mossad. A list of scientists and personnel at the Sarcelles, France, plant revealed the only Iraqi scientist who had a home address in France (not at the military headquarters near the installation). His name was Butrus Eben Halim. He was successfully recruited through several interactions by Mossad katsas and a yarid team. On June 7, 1981, the Iraqi nuclear compound Tamuze 17 (Osirak) at Tuwaitha, outside of Baghdad, was destroyed by U.S. made Israeli fighter bombers. There were two dozen F15's and F16's which tool off from Beersheba, and were refueled by an Israeli Boeing 707 (camouflaged to look like am Irish Aer Lingus, commonly rented to Arab countries). It was a 90 minute, 650 mile trip. Previous to the bombing in Iraq, Mossad had successfully arranged an explosion at the plant in France from the information provided by Halim which slowed down Hussein’s plans for several months; however, this only slowed down Iraq’s goal of having nuclear weapons. Thus, the attack on Tuwaitha was necessary. There are confidential details of these events which I am not allowed to go into.Raz commented: “The only thing worse than the Israeli air force having to do it (that is, bombing Iran) – (is) Iran having a nuclear bomb.?Col. Ziv Levy, an air force base commander said: “We spend a lot of time and a lot of effort in training and being prepared for the worst. We cannot lose a single war. QUESTION: When will the leadership of Israel ... especially the IDF and Mossad get smart(er) and start working with modern day Ruach ha Chodesh prophets ... nabi’im: Spirit-filled Messianic Jews or Hebrew Christians who have the gifts of the Spirit of G-d operating in and through them: the Word of Knowledge, the Word of Wisdom, the Gift of Discernment, Prophecy, and Miracles!MILITARY SECRETS & PROPHETSConcerning the military secrets of Syria, let me remind you of a historical record in the Tanach, in the record of the Kings of Israel: We read an interesting passage: "Now the king of Syria was warring against Yisra'el; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. Scopus starting via the desert (not the highway) from 30 kilometers south of Eilat (inland from the Gulf of Aqaba) up to a Bedouin camp southeast of Jerusalem and then to the City. By providing this information, and by listeners of this podcast being able to disseminate information, we may help the Mossad and IDF to act on such matters ... or, stopping such attacks by letting terrorists know that their plans are revealed. Iran needs to realize that she is unguarded and NOT impregnable in the sight of Israel.Syria built their nuclear reactor with Iran’s agreement; the Syrian plant was supposed to be an integral part of Iran’s own nuclear program. It is the only country in the world to have ever destroyed two different enemy nuclear reactors in two different countries by itself!IRAN & PROPHECY: THE WORD OF THE LORDUS defense secretary Robert Gates said he favored keeping the military option against Iran on the table “given the destabilizing policies of the regime and the risks inherent in a future Iranian nuclear threat [Editor;s note: such as the one destroyed in Syria] – either directly or through proliferation.?Maj. The first war we lose, Israel will cease to exist.? Remember what I said a few podcasts ago: “Israel, this is the Word of the LORD: Attack Iran NOW ... before it’s too late. If you don’t, it will be too late!?MUSICPodcast time: 12 minutes, 23 seconds (with music)Podcat size: 11.3 MBIf you have been helped or received a miracle as a result of this study, email us and let us know what G-d has done for you.
