When Zayd Ayers Dohrn was born his parents were fugitives. They were the leaders of the Weather Underground – a violent revolutionary group opposed to the Vietnam war. Most members were white, but they worked closely with radical black organisations opposing racism in the US, drawing attention to their cause through bombing campaigns, bank robberies, and jailbreaks.When Zayd's younger brother came along his mother, Bernardine, decided it was time to hand herself in. They managed to do a deal and most of the charges she faced were dropped. However when Zayd was 5 Bernadine went to jail. Despite having been on the run from the FBI for more than a decade she wasn't charged with any crime. She went to prison because of her refusal to give evidence against her former revolutionary comrades. For Zayd, as a child it was really difficult to understand his mother's choice. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott keeps this combined episode focused on the pattern Mica Miller's family says the law repeatedly failed to capture. Mica left journals, diaries and police reports describing alleged control over medication, unwanted injections, sleep deprivation, tracking and harassment. Scott explains why coercive control is often missed when institutions evaluate each incident on its own instead of asking whether one person is steadily stripping away another person's choices. That is the problem Mica's Law is designed to address. South Carolina's SB 702 would add coercive control to the state's domestic-violence framework and make repeated controlling behavior a criminal offense. The bill stalled during the 2026 session and remains unpassed. Scott examines what that gap means for families who can describe an entire pattern but cannot point to one statute that names it. JP Miller is now charged federally with cyberstalking and making false statements. Prosecutors allege that from November 2022 through April 27, 2024, he repeatedly contacted Mica, interfered with her finances and daily activities, damaged her tires, posted an intimate image without consent and caused tracking devices to be placed on her vehicle. JP has pleaded not guilty and has not been charged in connection with Mica's death. His case is scheduled for the October 2026 federal trial term. The second half of the episode looks at what came next. JP married Suzie Skinner in June 2025. Suzie's former husband Chris Skinner died in a pool in September 2021, and authorities ruled the drowning accidental. His family has publicly questioned that ruling, while reporting says the case has been revisited. No one has been charged in Chris Skinner's death. Netflix interviewees have alleged JP and Suzie were involved before Mica died; JP has denied that and said the relationship began later. In part 3 of the Overcoming Technology mini-series, Dave and Bethlie quickly recap the first three steps (determine if you need to change, educate yourself, recognize the damage) before landing on the three that close out the series: find alternative activities, create tech-free zones, and discuss the changes needed — together, as a family. Technology itself isn't evil — it's a gift from God (1 Timothy 6:17) — but Christians are called to walk circumspectly (Ephesians 5) and redeem the time, which is hard to do when technology is running the show instead of being run by us. Quick recap of steps 1–4 (from Parts 1 & 2): Determine if you need to overcome technology Educate yourself (books, podcasts, research) Recognize the damage it can cause (sleep disruption, social isolation, eye strain, shorter attention spans, addiction, loss of privacy, cyberbullying) Determine the changes needed (individual — time limits, habit changes, removing non-essential apps, silencing notifications) The final three steps: Find alternative activities — Step away on purpose through physical activity, hobbies, and face-to-face interaction. Suggestions: walks after dinner, biking, mountain biking, golf, tennis, painting, crafting, cooking. The point: if parents don't proactively offer alternatives, kids won't find them on their own. Create tech-free zones — Specific zones discussed: Mealtime — TV off, phones away, actual conversation The bedroom — phones stay out, use an analog/digital alarm clock instead; protects sleep and removes late-night temptation Ballgames and kids' activities — be present, not on your phone Family movie night — phone-free even during streaming ad breaks (use the break for a bathroom run, popcorn, or "a kissing break") Alternative approach: designate the family room (or one area) as the only place tech is allowed, making the rest of the house tech-free by default Discuss the changes needed — with your kids, not just for them — Ask questions rather than issue mandates: "Do you think you're on the internet too much?" "What would you do with your time if you weren't on TikTok?" Getting kids to buy in (rather than just enforcing rules) leads to better results. Consider one tech-free day a month as a family, agreed on together.

Before baptism he was a renowned military commander under Trajan. While hunting in the woods, he met a great stag with a shining Cross between his antlers. Through the stag, the Lord spoke to Placidas (his pagan name) and told him to find a priest and be baptized into Christ. Returning home, he found that his wife Tatiana had also had a vision in which she was told to become a Christian. They were baptized, Placidas receiving the name Eustathius, and Tatiana the name Theopiste; their two sons were baptized with them. Eustathius and his family were almost immediately subjected to a series of grievous trials, in which all were separated from one another. After years of hardship they were re-united, and returned to Rome with honor when the Emperor sought out Eustathius to command his army once again. But when the Emperor Hadrian (who had succeeded Trajan) commanded them to worship the idols, all of them refused. They were put together into a large bronze ox which was heated white-hot in a fire. When their bodies were removed, they were found to be dead but intact. The Prologue concludes, 'Thus this glorious general gave to Caesar that which is Caesar's, and to God that which is God's, and entered into the eternal Kingdom of Christ our God.

What kind of legacy will your life leave behind?In this powerful message, guest evangelist Micah shares a deeply personal story about the final words his father ever heard from him and asks an important question: Will the final words we leave behind match the life we actually lived?Turning to the final words of Joshua in Joshua 24, Micah shows us how to build a life and family around something that will outlast our accomplishments, possessions, success, and even our time on earth. We can't live on someone else's faith. Like Joshua, we must decide for ourselves: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”And even when we've failed, our story isn't over. The amazing grace of Jesus offers forgiveness, redemption, and a new beginning. We can choose today to build a life centered on Christ and leave behind a legacy that points generations to the faithfulness of God.
