David Crowley beat Francesca Hong by half a point. Peggy Flanagan won Minnesota by 20. Same night, opposite answers about where the party is going.Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley took the Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial primary over democratic socialist state Rep. Francesca Hong in a nail biter that broke past 2 a.m. Brian had been telling anyone who would listen that Crowley was winning while prediction markets had Hong at 96 percent, and he takes the victory lap. His read on why: no AOC, no Bernie, no Warren, no signature policy that broke through, and a cancel Thanksgiving clip nobody could unsee. Glennis brings in the other variable, Megan Romer, one of the DSA's two national chairs, whose New Yorker Radio Hour sit down with David Remnick got clipped into oblivion days before Wisconsin voted. Also: five of nine Milwaukee flash drives showed up at central count carrying audit logs instead of results, and Steve Kornacki had to fill 90 minutes of live NBC air with nothing. Then the rest of the board. Peggy Flanagan beat Angie Craig by roughly 20 points in Minnesota, and Brian argues that race teaches 2028 more than Wisconsin does. Luke Bronin ended John Larson's 28 year run in Connecticut's 1st, the seventh House incumbent to lose after actually running, five of them over 70. South Carolina's special Senate primary heads to an August 25 runoff between Rep. Ralph Norman and appointed Sen. Darline Graham. Mike Lindell lost Minnesota's Republican gubernatorial primary to House Speaker Lisa Demuth and would not concede. David Crowley is your Oath Candidate of the Week, and he is starting from zero with a general election against Rep. Tom Tiffany in November.Plus AOC telling Jonathan Karl on ABC's This Week that "Woke 1 was crazy," and the real question underneath it: can somebody who was loud during Woke 1 be the 2028 nominee? Brian says the jury is out. Glennis says yes and names her candidate. Then the economy, where July CPI landed at 3.4 percent, the July jobs report came in at negative 23,000 against expectations near 85,000 with another 103,000 knocked off May and June, and workers' share of national income sits at its lowest point since tracking began in 1947. Also this week for Clickbait or Double-Click: Trump slipping off Air Force One into an airport catering truck in Ankara while the press flew the decoy, Mamdani backing Tiffany Cabán's Delivery Protection Act to force Amazon to directly employ its delivery drivers, and the New York Times piece on Flock cameras that has liberals and conservatives mad at the same thing. Then a Good Vibe Goodbye where a guy on the Brooklyn Museum steps asks Mamdani to find him a date and the mayor's office answers with a borough by borough summer guide for anyone looking for cheap and cheerful dates in NYC.UPDATE: This episode was recorded Wednesday morning, August 12, 2026, while Wisconsin votes were still being counted. Since recording, the Associated Press and Decision Desk HQ officially called the race for David Crowley, who secured the nomination with 39.8% of the vote compared to Francesca Hong's 39.4%.New episodes of Vibes Only are available for download first thing every Thursday morning! Brian and Ed pick sides — while acknowledging that certain Irish-style breakfast potatoes may deserve consideration. Cocaine Wars: Tim Raines vs. Doc Gooden The Baller Lifestyle's unofficial Cocaine Wars returns. This time the competitors are two MLB legends: Tim "Rock" Raines Dwight "Doc" Gooden The guys discuss the notorious cocaine use of both players, including Raines' infamous habit of carrying cocaine in his uniform pocket and Gooden's struggles with addiction during his spectacular but troubled career. And, of course, the show gets another custom AI-generated Cocaine Wars theme song. The "Rot" Has Set In A listener submits a bizarre take on Mets rookie pitcher Jeffrey Yan celebrating after a strikeout, leading Brian and Ed into a discussion about player celebrations, individuality, ego, and the increasingly dramatic policing of professional athletes' behavior. How Often Do You Check Your Fly? A listener asks the guys how frequently they make sure their zipper is actually zipped. This leads to an unfortunately detailed discussion of zipper-related injuries and Brian's history of unfortunate encounters with his own pants. The Technology Problem Brian and Ed discuss the strange reality of modern technology, convenience, smartphones, and the idea that we're increasingly tethered to the machines in our pockets. The conversation eventually reaches Ted Kaczynski, The Terminator, data centers, and the uncomfortable possibility that some of the concerns about technology were not entirely insane — even if the methods were. PATREON / BONUS CONTENT The regular episode wraps up with a reminder that the show continues exclusively for Patreon subscribers. True Biblical Worship vs. Strange Fire: What Does God Really Want? | KIB 543 DESCRIPTION Welcome to Kingdom Intelligence Briefing Episode #543 with Dr. Michael Lake and Mary Lou Lake. What does God actually desire from those who worship Him? Modern Christianity often defines worship primarily through music, singing, emotional experiences, and church services. But Scripture presents something far deeper. True biblical worship is not merely an event we attend—it is a covenant lifestyle of reverence, obedience, holiness, truth, thanksgiving, humility, service, repentance, and wholehearted devotion to God. In this episode, Dr. Michael Lake examines the biblical theology of worship from both the Old and New Testaments. Psalm 24 reveals the necessity of clean hands and a pure heart, while Jesus declares that the Father is seeking those who will worship Him "in spirit and truth." This teaching also confronts a serious problem within modern Christianity: worship can become religious performance while the believer's daily life remains disconnected from God. Scripture reveals that obedience itself is worship. Holiness is worship. Serving others can become worship. Thanksgiving is worship. Repentance restores true fellowship with God. Even studying Scripture to discover what pleases God becomes an expression of devotion to Him. Dr. Lake also examines Cain, Nadab and Abihu, Saul, Uzziah, and Israel's golden calf to demonstrate a sobering biblical principle: sincerity does not give humanity the authority to redefine worship. God determines how He is to be worshiped. The episode concludes with a warning that much of contemporary worship risks producing "strange fire" rather than Christlikeness—and a call for the Remnant to return to worship that transforms the worshiper and exalts God alone. IN THIS EPISODE: • Why worship is a lifestyle rather than an event • What it means to worship God in spirit and truth • The Hebrew and Greek concepts behind biblical worship • Why obedience is an act of worship • Why God requires holiness from His worshipers • The relationship between thanksgiving, praise, and worship • Why biblical study itself can become an act of devotion • How religious performance can replace genuine worship • Why worship must remain God-centered rather than man-centered • Cain, Nadab and Abihu, Saul, Uzziah, and unauthorized worship • The danger of "strange fire" in the modern Church • How true worship produces transformation and Christlikeness • Why worship and obedience are powerful components of spiritual warfare Mary Lou also discusses prayer, spiritual warfare, and the importance of recognizing that the heavens belong to Almighty God—not the powers of darkness. The episode opens with a call for believers to respond to spiritual opposition by declaring biblical truth and magnifying the Creator rather than fearing the enemy. “I'm not a one-man woman.” Join Ian & Megs for our 343rd episode as we head to Brooklyn for Spike Lee's audacious, provocative, micro-budget debut She's Gotta Have It (1986). It's sex, independence, competing egos, and three men absolutely convinced they should be the answer to a question Nola Darling never asked. Liam isn't with us this week — Nola told him she wasn't interested in exclusivity and he's been drafting a rebuttal ever since. Kev? He heard Mars Blackmon say “Please, baby, please” and has disappeared to practise his technique. This week we discuss: Who exactly are we supposed to like in this film? Nola, Jamie, Greer, Mars — everyone gets their moments, but are there actually any genuinely likeable characters in She's Gotta Have It? Tracy Camilla Johns as Nola Darling — independent, sexually confident, complicated and occasionally deeply frustrating. How radical was this protagonist in 1986, and how does she play almost forty years later? That Thanksgiving dinner. Inviting all three men you're sleeping with to the same Thanksgiving meal is certainly a choice — but is Nola being liberated, honest and refusing to hide, or is she actually being unnecessarily cruel? The acting is... a moving target. From genuinely effective performances to line readings that wouldn't survive an amateur theatre rehearsal, the quality fluctuates wildly — so why does the film somehow remain completely compelling? Spike Lee's extraordinary debut — made with virtually no money and enormous ambition. Does the roughness actually become part of the film's charm rather than something we need to forgive? Jamie, Greer and Mars — three wildly different approaches to masculinity, yet all three ultimately want Nola to change for them. Does any one of them actually understand her? Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon — annoying, hilarious, insecure, endlessly quotable and somehow destined to become bigger than the film itself. Megs explores Nola's agency — is the film genuinely celebrating a woman refusing to conform to expectations, or can Nola's independence occasionally become an excuse for treating other people badly? Ian questions the film's internal logic — particularly that ending. Nola and Jamie's final scene seems constructed exactly like the climax of a romantic comedy: she's lost the guy, walks away, he calls her back and gives her another chance. Everything about the cinematic language tells us this is the outcome we're supposed to want... until the film suddenly tells us it wasn't. The final confessional — previous confessionals lead into events that we actually witness. So why does the most important one simply tell us that everything went differently without ever showing it? And what about Nola's vow of celibacy? Is it genuine growth, or such a rejection of her defining characteristic that it feels like the film suddenly lost confidence in its own ending? Does the finale feel rewritten? There's no smoking gun proving that it was, but Ian makes the case that the internal logic, characterisation and sudden reliance on “tell, don't show” make those final minutes feel suspiciously like a late attempt to change what the audience takes away from the film. The film's sexual politics in 2026 — what's still strikingly progressive, what's become considerably more complicated, and how does one deeply troubling sequence change our relationship with Jamie and everything that follows? The black-and-white photography and that sudden explosion of colour — necessity becoming aesthetic, and the first signs of the extraordinarily confident visual filmmaker Spike Lee would become. And finally, whether She's Gotta Have It is the Best Film Ever — or a messy, inconsistent, sometimes infuriating debut that somehow shines brighter than many considerably more polished films. Six years of Irritable Dad Syndrome. Hundreds of arguments, questionable observations, fast-food encounters, marital grievances, Kroger incidents, and stories that really didn't need to be told publicly. And now we've gathered the best of Year 6 into one episode. In The Best of Volume 6, revisit Darin's painfully patient attempt to buy two strawberry pies from a Popeyes employee, Mike being interrogated by a stranger at Kroger about his choice of crinkle-cut fries, and the discussion that somehow turns the entire cereal aisle into a spectrum ranging from sexual repression to Fruity Pebbles. You'll also hear Darin seek Mike's expert marriage counseling after Libby wears his good David Letterman hat outside, Mike explain why his wife was absolutely NOT allowed to remove a sticker from his pristine U2 concert program, and Darin's Thanksgiving encounter with a Tennessee state trooper who simply wanted him to “do better.” And then there's “Just put that anywhere”—a stupid little phrase that escaped the podcast, infected their wives and children, and will someday follow Mike and Darin all the way into the nursing home.If you're a longtime listener, these are some of the moments that made Year 6 special. If you're new to Irritable Dad Syndrome, this is probably the worst possible introduction to Mike and Darin.Which makes it the perfect place to start.Episode 321: Just Put That Anywhere — The Best of Volume 6.#IrritableDadSyndrome #ComedyPodcast #FunnyPodcast #BestOf #GreatestHits #DadHumor #Comedy #PodcastComedy #FunnyStories #MarriageHumor #DadLifeSupport the showThank you so much for listening to this episode!  If you like what we do, please check out our other content! Back in 2013, the Obama administration endorsed an ad campaign that came to be derisively known as the “pajama boy” campaign. “Pajama boy” was actually an adult man who encouraged young adults to make the case for Obamacare over Thanksgiving dinner with their relatives. “Wear pajamas. Drink hot chocolate. Talk about getting health insurance.” was the tag line. Most people thought it was pretty silly and the image survives now as an online meme.In retrospect, “pajama boy” was actually a little bit sinister because it was symptomatic of a shift in the culture. While families have always fallen out over personal conflict, it is now increasingly common for relationships to break down over politics. This is directly downstream of a new expectation that confronting relatives about political disagreements at the family dinner table is not just acceptable, but actually virtuous. My guest today has written a book about the rise of family estrangement, and particularly of adult children going ‘no contact' with their parents. The proximate trigger for this new kind of divorce is often political: arguments about Trump, or Covid, or gender identity are common. But behind these individual conflicts, Noelle Mering argues, is a profound shift in our attitudes towards the family, and the mainstreaming of a troubling idea: that some members of our own families are expendable.Noelle Mering is a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington D.C. and author of the new book ‘No Contact: How a Seductive Ideology Broke Families and Friendships and How We Can Repair Them.' She is also a wife and mother of six children. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week on the Mark Levin Show, it's particularly annoying that numerous national political figures refuse to discuss the significant and growing Islamist threat in the United States. Islamism is the greatest cultural threat we face. What is the ruling class is doing to stop Islamists from entering the country? Are we reviewing the status of those already here who promote radical views? Conservatives need to take over at the local level and reject mosque expansions, which isn't about restricting religious freedom but defending it against Islamist intolerance of religious diversity. Meanwhile, issues like universal healthcare are falsely cast as civil rights to advance a Marxist agenda that expands “democracy” and “rights” while threatening programs like Medicare and opposing enforcement against illegal immigration; supporting candidates like Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan would harm both the state and the country. Also, Sen Chris Van Hollen is a radical nut job, Jew hater, and Israel hater. Van Hollen defends Democrats against communist labels by citing Republican attacks on FDR over Social Security. What did FDR do? FDR created internment camps of 120,000 Japanese Americans, refusing to sign a bipartisan anti-lynching bill to protect Southern votes, imposing Jewish immigration quotas during the Holocaust, and enacting socialist policies including industrial trusts and price/wage controls that prolonged the Depression, arguing socialism redistributes rather than creates wealth. Later, Wisconsin Governor candidate Francesca Hong views Thanksgiving as racist and posted in 2021 that Americans should cancel it. This is the problem with insufficiently patriotic immigrants welcomed into the Democratic Party's big tent. Later, by the skin of his teeth, Abdul El-Sayed is now the Democratic candidate for the Senate in Michigan. Early data shows El-Sayed did well with White, relatively wealthy college graduates, but not so well with union/blue collar workers and Blacks. El-Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers, a good, solid candidate, in the November general election. El-Sayed will get the support of the media and he'll play down his Islamism and his association with people like Sen Bernie Sanders and Hasan Piker, who said America deserved 9/11. Let's not pretend El-Sayed is just another progressive. He's an Islamic Marxist. What Democrats have to figure out: how do you build a party around elitists? Claims from some on the fringes of the conservative movement—that younger people today face uniquely hard times due to student debt, homeownership barriers, and inflation driven by the war with Iran—are inaccurate and sound like leftist or socialist talking points. There have been far greater hardships faced by prior generations: the Great Depression's 25% unemployment, widespread business failures, and near-economic collapse, followed by World War II's draft of 16 million Americans with over 600,000 casualties under brutal conditions. Young people today simply do not have it as hard as those of 50–80 years ago - they simply don't. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Welcome to Last Call, a look at the biggest stories Jim and Greg covered over the past week on the 3 Martini Lunch. This week, they discuss Wisconsin Dems at each other's throats over the governor's primary, how radical Pete Buttigieg's presidential agenda would be, the University of Michigan refusing to issue grades to first semester freshmen, and a Senate committee holding Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress.First, they focus on Wisconsin, where many Democrats are furious at outgoing Gov. Tony Evers for aggressively trying to manufacture his preferred outcome in the governor's primary. Meanwhile, online posts from 2019 and 2020 are emerging in which the socialist frontrunner, Francesca Hong, wanted to ban Thanksgiving and felt uncomfortable eating around "old white people."Next, they recoil as Pete Buttigieg tells Politico about his plans for radical change and incremental change if he's elected president in 2028. Jim and Greg detail just how insane Buttigieg's agenda is but point out the media will still call him a moderate because he doesn't yell much. Then, they roll their eyes as the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts says freshmen will not get letter grades their first semester in order to help "curb the mental health crisis." The policy, which is set to begin in Fall 2027, will apply to all students. Jim and Greg wonder how we got this fragile. Finally, Sen. Rand Paul and the Senate Governmental Affairs and Oversight Committee voted Thursday to hold Dr. Fauci in contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions last week. Jim says he understands why this is happening but doubts much will ultimately come from it in the courts. Greg wonders the same but still thinks it's the right move. Please visit our great sponsors:AG1Head to https://DrinkAG1.com/3ML and get a free AG1 Travel Case along with 7 free AG1 Travel Packs in your Welcome Kit when you sign up for your first AG1 subscription.  While supplies last.ZocDocYour health matters and taking care of yourself shouldn't be complicated. "You and I both know that you will wither in front of your own crimes, but I'm gonna make sure Michiganders know about them. By the time we're done, you are not going to have safe quarter from people holding you accountable for what you've done," El-Sayed said. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, Abdul El-Sayed, who is running for the Democratic nomination for Senate from Michigan, is a very sick person, full of hate. He is on record supporting driver's licenses for illegals, opposing cooperation with ICE, and says America was founded on slavery. Slavery actually existed all over the world when America was founded: Black tribes sold other Africans to Europeans. Slavery exists today in Africa - where Islamists kill and capture Christians in Nigeria -- and in the Middle East. Women are treated horribly in the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan -- all Islamic areas. America fought a Civil War and amended our Constitution to rid this country of slavery. Nirvana has never existed anywhere, but the America of today is as close as it has ever come. In breaking news, authorities arrested a man Sunday at President Trump's Los Angeles-area golf course after he appeared to monitor security preparations two days ahead of a fundraiser there. The man, who was taking photos and video, carried a 16-round magazine with ammunition in his pocket; a loaded pistol was recovered from his car. He was charged with allegedly carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition. The arrest was announced by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as Trump prepared to arrive for a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. You need to see this before Wisconsin decides who runs the state. Francesca Hong, the socialist Democrat front-runner for governor, once called for canceling Thanksgiving as a celebration of colonialism and the “original superspreader event.” When CNN asked her straight up if she still believes that, she couldn't just say no. Instead she served up nearly a minute of word salad about being a chef, bringing people to the table, and how Thanksgiving is “incredibly painful for many people in our communities.” Views can evolve, she said — while never actually walking it back. This is the same candidate who has also claimed the service industry is rooted in white supremacy and that tipping itself is racist because it has “kept wages low for black people.” Pat also covered: Trump declares he's done with Iran after the latest attacks. James Talarico tries to prove he's a “real man” after the low-T hits. Nick Shirley on the ground in Ceuta as the migrant invasion hits Spain. Chuck Schumer gets pressed on the DSA's rise inside the Democrat Party. Day 53: Mitch McConnell still missing in action.
