In this episode, we commemorate Al Nakba for the 77th year. We trace the story of one Palestinian family displaced from the al-Baqa‘a neighborhood in West Jerusalem during the 1948 Nakba. From Victoria's memories of fleeing her rose-filled home to her grandson Majdi's search for what was lost, we explore how memory, loss, and resilience are passed down through generations. Through personal testimony and historical context, this episode reflects on what it means to reclaim narratives, and why Palestinians continue to remember, resist, and return.Thank you for tuning into This is Palestine, the official podcast of The IMEU! House and Senate members are back in session this week to continue negotiations on a state budget for the fiscal year that begins July first. As WITF's David Payne reports, one of the issues lawmakers will be discussing is funding for mass transit. The owners of Restorative Roots Recovery want to continue operating recovery houses in northeastern Pennsylvania, but they're concerned about the Trump administration's federal funding cuts. Lydia McFarlane from our friends at WVIA reports from the only licensed male recovery houses in Luzerne County. The Eagles visited the White House Monday to celebrate the team’s Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Speculation about who would and wouldn’t attend the celebration had been going since the date was announced last month. Nick Kariuki with WHYY's Billy Penn was in Washington D.C. for the event. Yesterday, April 30th, was the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. For stories about the war from Central Pennsylvanians who lived through it, see: https://vietnam.witf.org/stories/ Two people were electrocuted in Pennsylvania... one in State College and one in Pittsburgh... amid severe storms that swept across the state Tuesday night. It's been two weeks since a shooting at Florida State University killed two and injured six. We're now learning that one of those injured is Gettysburg native and FSU student Reese Gourley. Her family released a statement through their attorney stating that their daughter suffered a gunshot wound in her back and now faces a long recovery. U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement... Known as ICE... has approved agreements with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Northwest Regional Police Department. The agreement allow the two local agencies to arrest and detain people on behalf of the federal agency. Controversial Commonwealth University president Bashar Hanna will step down on July 31st to accept a new leadership role in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education. Send us a textWhat happens when a routine warrant service turns into a life-altering gunfight? TJ shares his harrowing journey of survival after being shot six times at point-blank range while serving on a U.S. Marshals Task Force. From the moment bullets tore through his body—striking his face, shoulder, hands, arm, and shattering his femur—TJ takes us through every vivid detail of his fight to stay alive. The split-second decision-making, the voice in his head screaming "you failed," and the determination to crawl under a vehicle as gunfire continued around him showcase the raw reality of officer-involved shootings. But this story extends far beyond the shooting itself. TJ's recovery journey reveals shocking gaps in how departments support wounded officers. Despite catastrophic injuries, he received virtually no mental health resources—a disturbing reality many first responders face. While doctors told him running again would take two years, TJ set an ambitious goal to complete a half marathon within 12 months. Against all medical expectations, he succeeded.Perhaps most powerful is TJ's approach to trauma recovery. Rather than avoiding the shooting location, he deliberately visited it repeatedly until it held no power over him. "I didn't want that parking lot of blacktop and concrete to own me," he explains. "I wanted to own that parking lot."Through candid discussions about police culture, administrative failures, and life after the badge, TJ offers rare insights into law enforcement realities while demonstrating extraordinary resilience. His journey reminds us that while trauma can permanently change us, our response to it ultimately defines us.Have you considered how you would rebuild your life if everything you identified with was suddenly stripped away? Re-airing a Season One fan favorite:The most secretive mission of World War II ended in the largest scale shark attack of all time. The U.S.S. Indianapolis' mission was so secret, the entire crew was unaware of their cargo: the components of the atomic bomb ‘Little Boy' which was dropped on Hiroshima. Thus, when the cruiser was sunk by a Japanese torpedo, no one knew, and 900 sailors were left floating in shark-infested waters for four days. HBH is excited to welcome Doug Stanton, author of ‘In Harm's Way: The Sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis and the Extraordinary Story of Its Survivors'.On July 30, 1945, after delivering their top secret cargo which would would strike Japan only one week later, the USS Indianapolis was struck by a torpedo from a Japanese submarine. The 610-foot cruiser quickly sank, and the surviving sailors had to battle dehydration and hundreds of hungry sharks for over four days. The crew of the Indianapolis was filled with incredible heroes, not all of whom survived this harrowing ordeal. In addition to 'In Harm's Way', Doug Stanton is the New York Times bestselling author of 'The Odyssey of Echo Company', as well as 'Horse Soldiers', which was the basis for the 2018 movie '12 Strong', starring Chris Hemsworth.

Her story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit's ability to overcome the most traumatic of experiences. Being a survivor of SRA, mind control, & behavior modification, Jenny recounts her harrowing tale of living through the torment & anguish of a prevalent cult that does not want you to know that they exist.
