His music crossed the Southeast and reached the South of the country as well. He performs for several years at the largest Country Music festival in South America in San Pedro, Argentina and his albums have been played on radio in Europe, Mexico and the USA. In fact, it was in Nashville that Rodrigo Haddad performed at the CMA Music Festival, the largest festival of its kind, one of the most striking moments of his career. Rodrigo Haddad has 6 albums released on digital platforms, there are more than 50 songs composed by the artist himself, songs about life, love, friendships, and stories lived by the artist himself. Maybe it's because both Annie and me didn't really get into country music until our adult years - and in both cases, that was around the late '90s and early 2000s - but we still feel compelled to continue the country music series AND the concept of our favorite "whatever" in The New Millenium...but that is the theme for today's Country Music Series Episode. Although Annie and I didn't just stumble on country music. There are, indeed, a wealth of factors that brought country music into mainstream musical/pop culture: Crossover Success Country artists like Shania Twain and Faith Hill gained widespread popularity by crossing over into mainstream pop music, attracting a larger and more diverse audience. Bro-Country The emergence of the "bro-country" subgenre, characterized by party-themed lyrics and a fusion of country and rock elements, led by artists such as Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line, contributed to a new wave of listeners embracing country music. Digital and Online Platforms The rise of digital platforms and online streaming allowed country music to reach a global audience more easily, breaking down geographical barriers and fostering the growth of new artists and fan communities. And then there's the Country Concert Experience: Country music concerts provided fans with an opportunity to experience their favorite artists and songs in a live setting. The energetic performances and interactions between artists and fans helped create a strong sense of community and connection. Many country artists embarked on extensive tours during the 2000s, often collaborating with other artists for joint tours or music festivals. These tours not only showcased the individual talents of artists but also exposed audiences to a variety of country music styles. The 2000s saw the rise of country music festivals, such as the CMA Music Festival and Stagecoach Festival. These events brought together a diverse lineup of country artists and attracted attendees from all over the country, contributing to the genre's visibility and popularity. Successful country music tours and concerts served as effective marketing tools for artists and their albums. They helped boost album sales, increase radio airplay, and elevate the overall profile of country music. and, of course, the Apple Music Playlist can be found HERE. ENJOY!!!!

We had the pleasure of interviewing Susan Hickman over Zoom video! Determination and passion paint the walls of country artist Susan Hickman‘s life, causing fans to recognize these vibrant traits undeniably inspire the way she crafts her music. While these are characteristics most acquire as they mature, they seem to be inherent in Hickman's ethereal essence. At only the age of five she began playing piano and added violin lessons as well a few short years later. As if two instruments wasn't enough for a young Hickman to handle, at the age of twenty-one, she began teaching herself to play guitar in the living room of her family home in Atascocita, Texas. Hickman finds a unique way to connect her own voice with the instruments she surrounds herself with and has the ability to create melodies which are very much “Louder Than Words”. At only 12 with no previous experience other than playing and singing in church, Hickman scoured the Yellow Pages for every talent agency in the Houston area and then went on to travel across the country to pursue her dreams. Upon recollecting her journey the first few years Hickman is quick to refer to her mother as a saint from the long business trips to sitting at her shows in the honky-tonks during the early hours of the morning. In 2010, Susan was named CMA Close Up Who New To Watch In 2010 and has mastered the art of live performances. Hickman's energy, can-do attitude, and not to mention her music has allowed her to captivate audiences with various large scale acts such as Miranda Lambert, Jo Dee Messina, Shenandoah, Dean Dillon, Robert Earl Keen & Daryle Singletary. While 2010 was a pivotal year for Hickman it also proved to be a difficult one as well, she relied heavily upon her determination and positive attitude. Because she was playing guitar and singing nearly 10 hours a day between rehearsals and shows, Hickman was left having to get two surgeries. But if you've learned one thing about this performance powerhouse, it's that nothing will stop her mind from taking her where she needs to go, not even her own body. Her injuries did not stop her from developing quite a following in the U.S. and Europe. Susan has played through her pain and entertained audiences at Nashville's renowned CMA Music Festival and even at France's 23rd Annual Country Rendez-Vous Festival. Not to mention winning Texas CMA Female Vocalist of The Year 2015.As Hickman reflects on her gypsy lifestyle she shares she has done a lot of soul searching. She has taken time to discover herself as a person and then as an artist, though she cleverly mentions they often fight with one another. Only in her thirties, Hickman seems wise beyond her years and has a bright career ahead of her. She is a strong role model for women everywhere, showing them anything is possible when you live out your story with a strong will and a big heart. We want to hear from you! Raised in Hardin County, KY (about halfway between Louisville and Nashville), Kevin grew up in “mid-shift” of what is defined as country music. He has served as a supporting act for several BIG names in country music; such as Chris Young, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, David Lee Murphy, Joe Diffie, Maddie & Tae, Reilly Green, Ryan Hurd, and several more. He has played at several popular venues/festivals across the country, including CMA Music Festival, the 2019 NFL Draft, Kentucky Derby Festival, KY Bourbon Festival, Freedom Hall (Former Louisville Cardinals Men's Basketball Arena), Blake Shelton's Ole Red (All Locations), and Tootsie's Orchard Lounge. Because of this, his influences span several generations. From the boot-scootin', honky-tonk sounds of Brooks and Dunn, George Strait and Hank Jr., to modern-day hits of Thomas Rhett, Eric Church, and Keith Urban. His songs combine his songwriting, performing abilities, and work ethic, along with his genuine love and appreciation of country music as a whole, and you have someone who can compete with Nashville's finest. 2018 got momentum started for Kevin and his own music career. Kevin independently wrote his first single, “Hell of a Good Time”, which captures the memories of Kevin and his buddies growing up through late high school and college. It is the first single off his debut EP, Lookin' For A Party; and the song reached #15 on the New Country Artists Charts. On November 29, 2019, Kevin released "Lookin' For A Party", his second single and title track of the debut EP. “[Lookin' for a Party] is the life of a musician on the road-- a life I've lived since I was 16," Kevin says. "When you are out there, and you're going city to city... You see a lot of things... and a lot of interesting people. Literally, Class A's to the bottom of the barrel-- the rough ones! This song puts them all in one room together. Some are just there for the beer and some are lookin' for a party. That is how it goes in the dives and the clubs! You see all of them." The success of this single led to it being a JMA nomination for Song of the Year in 2020, and Kevin was also nominated for Rising Artist of the Year. His debut EP was released on Sept 1, 2020. On the same day, Kevin released his third (and current) single, "Hook, Line, and Sinker", which is a record-breaking single in its own right! Within 24 hours of release, the song had tens of thousands of streams and continues to climb as his most-streamed single to date. Kevin is currently working on the currently untitled EP #2 and is set to release the first single off it this summer. We listen to his song, Hook, Line, and Sinker for this episode. Find more of his music on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, Tidal, etc. Follow along with Kevin's musical career on all social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok. You can also visit his website. Kevin is planning a tour all over the country, which includes dates in New York, Orlando, Chicago, Gatlinburg, Lexington, Hershey, Las Vegas, and more! In releasing his latest album, Two Lane Town, JD Shelburne feels he has recorded the album that could take him to a whole new level. “I’ve been working really hard on this album. I think it is my best collection of songs that I’ve released thus far,” he says of his fourth project. He says that he’s definitely learned a lot since he released his first disc that was self-titled, back in 2012. “It’s all about writing and recording great songs,” he says. “It all boils down to just a great lyric. I try to write/record songs that I can relate to, ones that are catchy and have a great melody that I feel my fans can relate.” Of the tracks from the new album, JD says there’s one in particular that has a special place in his heart. “I co-wrote a song on the record called ‘Born For This.’ It’s the first song on the record, and it talks about picking up guitar and adapting to a new venture in life while attending college and just running with it – I was nineteen when my grandmother passed away. My life turned around in an instant when I found that guitar after her death. I didn’t realize until early in college that music was my true passion in life. I had played three different sports growing up, and just led the simple small-town life. I picked up the guitar, and my life hasn’t been the same since. It’s kind of the title track of my life. When I was about to finish college, there was a point when I realized I was about to be an adult and wondered what I was going to do with my life. Where I was going to go? I honestly felt like I was born to play music and entertain people. It was just something that I gravitated towards naturally. Nashville, Tennessee was my next destination and I haven’t looked back since.” J.D began that gravitation while growing up on a tobacco farm in Taylorsville, KY, a tiny town southeast of the Ohio River near Louisville KY. At age 19, he found a guitar after the death of his grandmother and began learning to play and sing on his own. By his sophomore year of college, he had found a few gigs at some local bars in the Louisville/Lexington, KY area and developed a fan-base that eventually landed him on some of the biggest stages in the business, opening for some of the nation’s hottest stars. Eventually, Shelburne was adding original songs into the set mix, in addition to producing songs of his own material. In 2002, Kentucky fell in love at first sight with Shelburne, then a college student and a small-town kid with a wide smile, natural singing voice and a love of faith, family and his hometown of Taylorsville, KY. But that small-town image is merely a fond memory now that he has moved on to Nashville down the path to music stardom. Now find him soaking up the music scene, touring cities, building a fan-base and celebrating a decade of success playing venues all across the southeast trying to get his big break. Today he’s among the most hardworking and relevant country singers in the business. They say Nashville doesn’t work that way anymore – that talented musicians with very few connections don’t stand a chance. But Shelburne proved that Music City’s engine still runs off of talent and persistent driven antics. Critics find him credible. Fans pack his shows. Venues strive to book him. There are very few new artists recording songs today about whom that can be said. During his whirlwind career explosion, he has performed with over 50 national acts ranging from stars such as Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, Jamey Johnson, Kellie Pickler, Steve Wariner to Clay Walker and Johnny Lee, performed at some of the region’s most famous venues such as the Historic Ryman Auditorium, Rupp Arena, Murphy Center, KFC Yum Center, Freedom Hall, Churchill Downs and Old Cardinal Stadium which recently drew the Kentucky State Fair’s largest crowd of the concert series. JD performed “God Bless America” prior to the 2016 Quaker State 400 NASCAR race at Kentucky Speedway to over 100,000 attendees. In September 2017, JD made his NBC Network Television Debut performing the National Anthem at the NASCAR XS Myrtle Beach 300! He has also been featured in Country Weekly Magazine, Kentucky Alumni Magazine, Kentucky Monthly Magazine amongst many other national publications including the Huffington Post. His debut music video “Farmboy” gained him thousands of new fans by airing on the TNN Top Ten Countdown nationwide on Heartland TV network and ZUUS Country Network. In 2015, he made his Nationwide debut on GAC – Great American Country Network and also CMT.com in October with his second music video entitled “Hometown” written about the demise of his small town. On October 21, 2015, JD debuted as #1 trending artist on CMT.com edging out Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldean! He has performed over 2,000 concerts all over the southeast as well as over 300 festivals. JD’s outfits have been featured on display at the Kentucky Derby Museum at Historic Churchill Downs from his appearances at the Kentucky Derby. In 2016, he was invited to perform in the Kentucky State Capitol for the State Senate as well as the House of Representatives where he performed his own rendition of “My Old Kentucky Home” for both parties. JD was named an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and was also presented the honor of “Admiral” by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Also, in 2016, the University of Kentucky’s College of Communication and Information named JD their 2016 Most Outstanding Alumnus! On September 18, 2018, he made his World Premiere on CMT! In June 2017, Shelburne launched his world premiere official music video for “Better Man” that was filmed in Midway/ Millville, KY. The music video made its Network Television Debut on Great American Country (GAC) on June 23, 2017, and is currently in Nationwide rotation. At the 2017 Kentucky Derby, Shelburne was a guest chef of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host Guy Fieri at his restaurant alongside Guy, Travis Tritt and NFL Legend Jerry Rice! Shelburne, most recently reached #29 on the Music Row chart with his debut single of “One Less Girl”. The single lead him to features on CMT and reaching over 120,000 views online! His follow-up single “She Keeps Me Up Nights” will impact radio this summer and has already reached #6 on the CMT 12-Pack Countdown! JD also has performed at several prestigious nationwide events: NBA Basketball Games, Guaranteed Rate Field for the Chicago White Sox, Suntrust Park for the Atlanta Braves, The Kentucky Derby, Unbridled Eve Derby Gala, Barnstable Brown Derby Gala, events for Jim Beam Brands and Four Roses Bourbon, NCAA Division I College Football/Basketball Games, The National FFA Organization National Convention, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotel Brands, NASCAR Racing Events, Minor League Baseball Games, Dollar General NASCAR Racing Team Event, CMA Music Festival, the NCAA Women’s Final Four, SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament and more! As you can imagine, the road is a place where he loves to be. “I rarely take days off. I performed 230 tour dates last year, and in 2016, I performed 246. I have always taken nearly every opportunity given to me that is within a reasonable distance. I have a relative in the family that was a Country artist back in the 1970s, and his name was Guy Shannon. He had a couple of charted singles and played the Opry several times. He told me before I moved to Nashville, ‘You’ll never get discovered in a basement. Anytime you can get a gig somewhere, take it and run with it. I have taken that advice and used it tremendously. I play shows just about everywhere. I’ve been in the business ten years, and I’m still hungry,” he says eagerly J.D. has high hopes and expectations for the new music. “I want to try to get on a national tour and spread my music and my name to places I’ve never played. I think I’ve got some great songs on this record, and I think so many fans will relate and be drawn to this new album. I still have a lot of ground to cover and I don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.”

Nashville is en fuego. The city’s filling up for the CMA Music Festival. The airport and highways are busily channeling music freaks out to Manchester for Bonnaroo. And everybody is flipping out about the Nashville Predators who will play for the Stanley Cup on Sunday night at home on Lower Broadway. It’s bigger, wilder, louder and richer than I ever imagined the city would be when I moved here twenty years ago. And it’s amazing. There’s just a glow and a wonder for most people, and if you want to avoid the whooping bridal parties on pedal taverns, there are plenty of places to hang out with good folks and good music that have nothing to do with that noise. Such as Music City Roots. On this week’s show, quite a few people found their way to the Factory for a bracing night of mostly solid country and bluegrass, with a stellar bluegrass-inspired musician from another country.

Whether you ask One Stop Country, Queens of Country, Country Perspective, or any of the numerous reviewers, newspapers, and blogs she has spoken with, there's one thing they can all agreeon -- Kristi Hoopes has the "tried and true music that country radio needs."With seven years, 30+ awards, and two guitars under her belt, four-time “Songwriter of the Year,” five-time “New Country Female Entertainer of the Year,” and Nashville recording artist Kristi is creating the country music of tomorrow, today. This past summer, Kristi's first album began to take shape within the iconic walls of RCA Studio A (Grand Victor Sound) in Nashville, Tennessee after winning Lyricord's first songwriting contest. While the album is still a work in progress, her debut single, "At Least It's Something" has been released and is currently available for purchase on iTunes and 30+ online music outlets. In June 2015, Kristi released her latest single "In My Own Sweet Time" while in Nashville for the 2015 CMA Music Festival.Born on Valentine's Day, this Colorado girl found her love for the stage at the age of 2, entertaining her family on top of the family room coffee table. Her passion for performing flourished during her 3rd grade talent show while singing Loretta Lynn's version of Nancy Sinatra's, “These Boots Are Made For Walking.”That same year, Kristi was recruited by a musical theater troupe, touring nationally and internationally until the group disbanded in 2009. But in the back of her mind, she felt like there was a piece of her that was missing, and it was in the hand-written lyrics and chord charts scattered about Kristi's bedroom floor that the piece was found -- country music. With a pocket full of those original songs and guitar in hand, Kristi began competing with the CCMA's (Colorado Country Music Association). Kristi's consecutive wins in 2009 and the years to follow led her to compete in Tennessee and win the international title of Female Entertainer of the Year from NACMAI (North American Country Music Association International) in 2010 and Songwriter of the Year in 2011.This past summer, Kristi took home a first place win at the Country Showdown (formerly known as the Texaco Country Showdown) for AM 1340 KVRH, and was one of only five contestants to represent the state of Colorado at Copper Mountain on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band stage. From county fairs to coffee shoppes to haunted Old West hotels, she quickly becomes a fan favorite and has left her eclectic country footprint at iconic venues like Cheyenne Frontier Days, the Colorado State Fair, and the National Western Stock Show. Kristi has been both a headliner and an opening act for well-known Colorado bands like the Blue Canyon Boys, Fireweed, and Barry Ward. She has found herself playing on the same stages as national acts like Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd & The Big Noise, thus proving to be an accomplished and dynamic artist. When she's not tearin' up a stage or penning a new song, she volunteers her time and talents at charity events and involves herself in local theater productions both on stage and behind the scenes. Her rigorous AP academic schedule leaves her with little free time, but she makes use of what she gets by riding horses, camping, writing poetry, and hanging out with her friends.Kristi Hoopes may be a small-town girl, but her voice promises to take her fans on a Mile Hi ride. "I am so thankful to have as many fans behind me as I do. This is a journey and I want my them to be with me every step of the way, wherever the road leads."

It was officially day three of the 2014 CMA Music Festival in Nashville, TN. Mike Arnold, Tom Thompson, and Will Perry continued with the concert coverage. Day three lasted about 15 hours and this was after two prior long days! Yes, we were tired but excited to cover more concerts. After a dinner and a hour rain delay, we headed over to the stadium to catch Sara Evans, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Florida Georgia Line, and closing the night with Keith Urban. Welcome to “Inside Music Row!” Today we’ll celebrate “Carolina”…the first number one hit for Parmalee. We’ll also check out the latest independent project from Jo Dee Messina. Finally, we’ll sit down with Austin Webb to hear all about his new music. All this and more coming up “Inside Music Row!” Roll Open :30 Hey everybody! I'm Kelly Sutton… so glad you’ve joined us for another Inside Music Row. We've got a great show for you today, so let’s get started with some entertainment headlines! If you’re waiting to get your tickets to this year’s CMA Music Festival, you might have waited a little too long. The nightly concerts at L-P Field sold out early this year, setting a sales record for the C-M-A. Tickets sold out before the first artist was even announced, which was nine weeks earlier than last year. Even though the nightly shows are now sold out, there are still plenty of other entertainment venues, stages, activities and special events lined up for the festival, which runs June fifth through the eighth. Check out C-M-A Fest dot com for all the details. “Take It To The Bank” is the latest project out from Chris Janson. He puts on at least 150 shows each year, and has recently become a regular on the Grand Ole Opry. Chris has been described as a cross between Waylon Jennings and Mick Jagger. Look for the new E-P on sale now, which features five hand-picked songs, four of which were written by Chris. The Grand Ole Opry is releasing a new book this weekend that treats fans to an all-access, behind-the-scenes look at country music’s most famous show. “Backstage at the Grand Ole Opry” coincides with the 40th anniversary celebration of the Opry House. You’ll find many rare photos, stories, and personal memories throughout the book, so look for it at many Nashville retailers or online at the Opry Shop. Dolly Parton is a very busy woman right now. Fresh off the Australian leg of her new “Blue Smoke” tour, Dolly is set to release a new album of the same name May 13th. She’ll then hit the road hard here in the States for a handful of shows before heading over to Europe for about five weeks. It doesn’t look like she’ll be slowing down any time soon. Now it's time to go “Inside The Song.” Sarah Darling wrote a song 7 years ago that was inspired by her grandfather when she thought she was losing him. Here is Sarah talking about her song “Knowing What I Know About Heaven.”
