Please help us answer the age-old question, "How many TIKI BARS are too many?" Jason shares "letters from Gramps" about stick-to-it-iveness. Brett reminisces about accidentally reciting a sexist passage from an H.R. Hubbard book his Mom gave him. Deema confesses to faking his way through religious rituals to keep peace in the family until he can't take it anymore. Poetry “carr[ies] the most human of voices” for Deema Shehabi, a Palestinian-American writer whose work has appeared in publications including The Poetry of Arab Women: A Contemporary Anthology and Kenyon Review. Shehabi earned her undergraduate degree in History and International Relations from Tufts University and Master's in Journalism from Boston University, previously served as the vice president of the Radius of Arab American Writers, and has received four Pushcart prize nominations. She is the author of Thirteen Departures from the Moon and Diaspo/Renga, the latter of which she co-wrote with Marilyn Hacker. In this episode, Shehabi shares how Diaspo/Renga emerged out of four years of email correspondence with Hacker. Together, we celebrate the collection as a testament to the “private humanity” between its two poets. Shehabi also speaks to the homes she's found in Palestine, Kuwait, and California and the “perpetual expansion and contraction” that accompanies exile and return in her life. In negotiating this state of flux in her relationship with language, Shehabi talks about the burden of translation and always having to “teach people how to read” when she writes. Finally, Shehabi gifts us a striking reading of her poem, “Tracery of Dune and Chamomile,” which is modeled after Marie Howe and gazes upon the truth of humanity and intersections.Honorable MentionsRadius of Arab American Writers Diaspo/RengaEdward Said, “Reflections on Exile”Naomi Shihab Nye“Migrant Earth”, featured as Poem-a-Day on Poets.org Audio by Bloomsday Literary in partnership with the official 2023 AWP Conference & Bookfair Photo credit: Omar F. Just 20 minutes of improv theater can foster creativity and confidence, and help with anxiety, depression, and your ability to tolerate uncertainty. Link to episode transcript: https://tinyurl.com/4t9rjj58 Episode summary: Deema Altaher was never one for the spotlight. So when her husband signed them up for improv classes, she had no idea what to expect. And yet after one class, Deema was hooked. From active listening games to “yes, and” prompts, she found that improv exercises shifted the way she connected with other people, and eased her nerves as she navigated all the uncomfortable parts of starting a new job. She was also inspired to “say yes” to new life opportunities. In fact, an emerging science shows that improv can benefit many people in terms of fostering greater comfort with new situations, inspiring creativity, lifting your mood, and even easing anxiety and depression. Professor Peter Felsman is a social scientist and improviser himself who has tested this spontaneous style of theater in the lab. As the climate emergency intensifies, how can design help us to repair and revive our ecosystems? In this episode, Design Emergency's cofounder, Alice Rawsthorn, hears how the Jordanian architect Deema Assaf is using her design skills to develop new solutions to the severe ecological threats facing her country by reviving the beautiful forests, which once flourished throughout Jordan, but disappeared centuries ago leaving most of its land as desert.Jordan is one of the world's driest countries. Years of drought have left it with desert on 75% of its land and forests on just 1%. Deema, who practiced landscape architecture for ten years after graduating from the University of Jordan, was so concerned that in 2018 she founded the TAYYŪN research studio in Amman to develop ways of regenerating Jordan's arid land by turning it back into forests of native trees.Deema tells us how she cultivated her first forest five years ago, and how she and her colleagues are currently planting their fifth forest in Jordan. To support this work, they have embarked on a major research project to compile a database of native Jordanian trees and plants, as well as harvesting their seeds, and running community programmes to encourage more people to help their efforts to revitalise Jordan's stricken ecology.Thank you for joining us for Alice's interview with Deema Assaf. Widder amål an Beidråch vom Gerd "solo". Und ennen in Mundård. Weil des a die erschdn wårn. Also eichndlich... Weil ich mich heud aweng uffreech will muss ich fürn Kondexd vorher noch a weng aushōl. Da des edz scho sowas wie a glenns Jubiläum is, wirds annoch a weng bersönlicher wie normal. Ich werd heud a boar brriwåde Sachn verzähl, wo blos Weniche wiss du. A boar dun a mei Muddi kenn. Da is awer noch a annere wichdiche Berson in mein Leem. Der Vadder vo meiner Muddi. Mei Obi, was so a Ård Abwandlung von Obba is, zweggs Unnerscheidung zum Vadder vo mein Vaddi. Mei Obi hadd mir viele Weerde vermiddld. Und jedn Dreck mussde dir āhör, weil jeder Dreck hadd a laude Schdimme.

There is a lot that goes into planning for a warehouse. Some warehouses are complex, while others may not be as complex depending upon the shipment types and the influx of shipments. If you don't plan well, it may lead to poor utilization of labor and inefficiencies in the warehouse. It may also lead to missing sales opportunities due to the unavailability of products or missing due dates for your customers. Scheduling of distribution center plays a crucial role in ensuring that you can ship at the right time while maintaining your warehouse efficiencies at the optimum levels. In today's episode, we have our guest, Deema Adada, who discusses how distribution centers work and their planning. She also describes best practices for managing the workload at distribution centers and space utilization. Finally, she has had time to explain several concepts, including upstream and downstream supply chain and exception handling. For more information on growth strategies for SMBs using ERP and digital transformation, visit our community at wbs.rocks or elevatiq.com. Nummer neun - meandernd. The Hole in the Supply Chain with Deema Adada Deema Adada and Joe Lynch talk about the hole in the supply chain. Deema is the founder and CEO of GetSett a company that provided its customers with a complete, real-time snapshot of available inventory and location, labor resources and shipment arrivals to optimize dock appointments with greater accuracy. About Deema Adada Deema Adada, founder and CEO of GetSett has spent 15 years in the industry working with Coyote Logistics and Uber Freight in positions from sales to operations and strategy. In that time, she sat front row to the many pitfalls across the supply chain, where customers continuously shared the same frustrations: onsite congestion, missed appointments, inefficient labor management, and significantly rising costs.  She has experienced first hand the disruptions that are occurring at both the first and final mile. There had to be a better way, so she created a female owned and operated tech-forward solution. About GetSett GetSett is a dynamic SaaS platform for the logistics industry that quickly and efficiently manages inventory at the most critical juncture for the entire supply chain; the dock door. Gone are the days of relying on phone calls, emails, and even faxes (yes, faxes). The fulfillment demand is skyrocketing and it is outpacing the available labor at the shipper.  This puts pressure on the shippers to optimize their existing footprint and labor force. With GetSett, customers have a complete, real-time snapshot of available inventory and location, labor resources and shipment arrivals to optimize dock appointments with greater accuracy. Did a dock door open up sooner, or is a truck delayed due to weather? GetSett gathers and optimizes data from facilities, carriers and vendors to create a holistic view that adjusts to the latest intelligence for smarter task management, and updates each party accordingly. Simply put, we take information that’s long been isolated and use it to keep inventory moving faster, while saving money. Key Takeaways: The Hole in the Supply Chain The hole: Friction between transportation and the shipping location Gap of communication, transparency, and coordination between truck and warehouse Planning and execution are not aligned Data allows to fill that gap Measure (in time) what's actually happening The problem going outbound Plan not matching execution Detention fees Delays on other shipments. The problem going inbound Trucks arriving before the schedule time Loss opportunities Spoilage when its food Wasted time Getting products out the door Understanding what it takes to get products out the door How much time does it take the forklift to execute a movement in the warehouse? Plan the workflow correctly to get the most out of the labor Smarter schedules based on data How orders affect on another? Measure from the time the driver arrives until they leave. Identify the bottlenecks to create solutions Applying software in the warehouse to fill that hole Allowing more products to be distributed Avoid spending time problem solving in the warehouse Learn More About The Hole in the Supply Chain GetSett Deema Adada GetSett LinkedIn Profile Retail, Supply Chain, and Logistics Expo The Logistics of Logistics Podcast If you enjoy the podcast, please leave a positive review, subscribe, and share it with your friends and colleagues. Excuse me, do you know this person?Migrationsverkets flyktingboende i Ställdalen. Ljusnarsbergs kommun i Bergslagen. Excuse me, do you speak English? Ställdalens Hotell gick i konkurs 2008. Idag bor knappt 5000 personer i kommunen. I många ärenden. My friends should stay here, really? Reporter: Mikael SjödellProducent: Annika H ErikssonKontakt: kaliber@sverigesradio.se
