The Sun transits into Virgo, the Mutable Earth sign symbolized by the Virgin, and is soon joined by the Moon to form the New Moon in Virgo. This marks the first of two New Moons in Virgo this year - a rare occurrence that last happened in 2006. Join us as we examine the eight previous occurrences of this pattern in the last 200 years, making this year's double New Moon in Virgo only the ninth time in two centuries. Additionally, before entering Virgo, the Sun in Leo forms its eighth and final annual trine with Chiron in Aries - an aspect that won't repeat until 2068.(2:38) The Sun in Leo Trine Chiron Retrograde in Aries 26° - August 17 – 20 (Sunday – Wednesday) – Exact, Tuesday, August 19. Quietmind Astrology — Learn Vedic Astrology with Jeremy Devens
Take the free quiz at https://www.quietmindastrology.com/levels Learning astrology can feel super complicated and overwhelming—but it really doesn't have to be. Over the years, through my own journey and teaching hundreds of students, I've seen that there are five clear levels of learning astrology. Once you know where you are on the path, it becomes so much easier to know your next step.In this episode of the Quietmind Astrology Podcast, I walk you through these five levels—from the “Insta Astrologer,” who scrolls TikTok memes, to the experienced astrologer who can read any chart on the spot with accuracy and insight. You'll hear how I personally moved from Western astrology into Vedic astrology, why I follow the sidereal system, and how my mentors helped me turn confusion into clarity. I'll also share how you can use your own chart (and charts of people close to you) to deepen your skills and start moving toward giving accurate, embodied, and inspiring readings.I've created a free assessment at quietmindastrology.com/levels so you can see exactly what level you're at right now and what your next step is. And if you're ready for the full in-depth training, check out the Become Your Own Astrologer workshop at quietmindastrology.com/workshop.Highlights:Level one is what I call the Insta astrologer. You might see funny memes on Instagram or TikTok and know your sun sign, but that's just scratching the surface. It's like having an iPhone and only using it to check the weather. When you get to level two, you become the astrology friend. You're the one people go to when Mercury goes retrograde or an eclipse happens, and you can explain what's going on in the sky.Level three is the hobby astrologer. You're reading books, pulling up charts, maybe even doing free readings, but you don't always feel confident yet. This is where imposter syndrome often shows up.Level four is the astrology practitioner. You're reading charts regularly, maybe asking for donations, and people are giving you honest feedback that helps you grow.Level five is the experienced astrologer: accurate, embodied, intuitive, observant, and uplifting. You can look at any chart like you'd read a book, and you know how to find the potential in every placement.By the end of this episode, you'll know which level you're at, what pitfalls to avoid, and how to move forward with a clear path. Whether you just want to understand your own chart better or you feel called to give readings for others, this framework will guide you.Check out the links below to get your free chart, assessment, and the Become Your Own Astrologer workshop for the full step-by-step process.—Free Vedic Birth Chart & Training: http://www.quietmindastrology.com/freebirthchartInstagram:http://www.instagram.com/quietmindastrologyYouTube:http://www.quietmindastrology.com/youtubeMentorship: http://www.quietmindastrology.com/mentorshipYoga Teacher Training Podcast: https://www.anchor.fm/yogateachertrainingQuietmind Yoga: https://www.quietmind.yogaKeywords: nakshatras, grahas (planets), rashi (zodiac signs), bhavas (houses), jyotish (astrology), yoga (planetary combinations), doshas (afflictions), kundali (birth chart), transits, retrograde, aspects, dasha system, remedies, mantras, shani, chani, chandra, mangala, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn

Captain Jim Lovell, commander of the doomed Apollo 13 space mission to the Moon. Jim, who died this month at the age of 97, tells how he helped guide his stricken craft safely back to Earth after it suffered a near catastrophic explosion in an interview first broadcast in April 2020 on the BBC series 13 Minutes to the Moon. He talks to Kevin Fong about the doomed Nasa mission, from the shocking moment of the explosion to the enormous relief of splashdown. Lovell shares the story of the lunar landmark he named in honour of his wife. And he reflects on survival, the global impact of Apollo 13, and what it meant to finally come back to Earth.(Image: Jim Lovell, Credit: Nasa)

As Pres. Trump & Putin meet in Alaska, without Pres. Zelensky, to discuss a peace deal in the Russian-Ukrainian War, it is not at all certain that any land will in fact be swapped for peace, as suggested by Pres. Trump. But one thing is for certain - that Pres. Putin will not, ever, swap Crimea for any land in Ukraine. In this episode, my guest and I discuss the history of Crimea and the Crimean Tatars.

Tonight, we'll read from Elements of Arithmetic, written by Augustus De Morgan and first published in 1846. De Morgan was a pioneering British mathematician and logician, remembered not only for his clear explanations but also for his sharp wit. He introduced the world to what we now call De Morgan's Laws in logic, and was the first to formally define and use the term “mathematical induction.” Because he was a Unitarian and refused to subscribe to the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Anglican Church, he was denied a fellowship at Oxford and Cambridge. This principled stance however did not hinder his influence: he went on to become the first professor of mathematics at the newly founded University College London. His legacy is honored not only in mathematics but on the Moon itself, where a crater bears his name. Elements of Arithmetic was one of his most widely read works, offering both beginners and more advanced students a foundation in the science of numbers. Arithmetic — the study of numbers, their properties, and their relationships — forms the bedrock of mathematics, bridging the practical art of calculation with the deeper theories that underpin algebra and number theory. — read by 'N' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! Foreign nations consider F-35 alternatives such as the Typhoon and FCAS, Denver Airport studies the use of a small modular reactor, Astronaut Jim Lovell passed, Senate bill blocks ATC privatization, NTSB hearings highlighted, and the Regional Airline Association calls for accredited flight training programs to be recognized as professional degrees. Aviation News Spain rules out F-35 order, prioritizes Eurofighter and FCAS The Spanish Ministry of Defense has decided to “prioritize investment in European industry” and will consider the Eurofighter Typhoon or the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) over the Lockheed Martin F-35. The Spanish government wants to replace its aging fleet of McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornets and AV-8B Harrier II aircraft. Previously, the F-35 was considered a leading candidate. Talks with Lockheed Martin are now suspended. Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, courtesy F35.com. Other potential foreign F-35 customers, including Canada and Portugal, have signaled doubts about joining the American-led program amid geopolitical strain with the Trump administration. Swiss lawmakers are calling for the government to cancel a $9.1 billion order for Lockheed Martin's F-35 stealth fighter. Denver to look at nuclear option for power at Denver International Airport The Denver airport (DIA) “issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to study the feasibility of building a small modular (nuclear) reactor (SMR) on the DEN campus. The study is part of DEN's overall efforts to meet future clean energy demands.” A new Colorado law reclassifies nuclear energy as a clean energy resource. See the press release: DEN to Pursue More Alternative Energy Options for Future Needs and A nuclear reactor at the Denver airport? Here's what you need to know. Professor Thomas Albrecht, director of the Nuclear Science and Engineering Center at the Colorado School of Mines, said, "The idea, with many of the small modular reactors, is you can drive them up on a semi. put them down on a concrete pad and plug them in, and they just go. The idea of many of these designs is you could keep adding them." The study will cost up to $1.25 million and is expected to take between 6-12 months to complete, at which time DEN, along with its partners, will evaluate the findings and determine next steps. NASA Administrator Reflects on Passing of Astronaut Jim Lovell Astronaut James A. Lovell was a pioneering NASA astronaut best known as the commander of Apollo 13 and as one of the first humans to orbit the Moon, having flown a total of four space missions—Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8, and Apollo 13—more than any astronaut in NASA's early years. Astronaut James A. Lovell, NASA. Gemini 7 (1965): Set an endurance record of nearly 14 days in orbit and accomplished the first rendezvous of two manned spacecraft, a vital maneuver for Moon missions. Gemini 12 (1966): Commanded the final Gemini mission, featured Buzz Aldrin as pilot, and executed complex extravehicular activities, closing the Gemini program successfully. Apollo 8 (1968): Served as Command Module Pilot for the first crewed mission to leave Earth's orbit and enter lunar orbit, making him and his crewmates the first humans to orbit the Moon and see its far side. Apollo 13 (1970): Commanded the ill-fated lunar mission that suffered a catastrophic explosion en route, forcing a dramatic turnaround and Moon flyby. His leadership in crisis turned it into an inspirational story of survival; Lovell and his crew made it back safely, an event celebrated worldwide and dramatized in the 1995 film "Apollo 13". See Former Astronaut James A. Lovell - NASA and EAA's Jack Pelton on the Death of Astronaut Jim Lovell. Senate ATC modernization funding bill blocks privatization The Senate Appropriations Committee bill to fund the Department of Transportation, including the FAA, in 2026 seeks to block any attempts to privatize the U.S. air traffic control system.

Song: Don't Give Up Music by: Becky Reardon Notes: Thinking about tough times, Becky Reardon says, "The worst thing we can do is go silent." Here's a song to help with that -- a song about both grit and kindness; how a little flex can be the strongest response. She says, “Of all times when we need to get together and sing… this is the time to keep it going.” We talk about her love of the high desert, trees, community... how church and family singing embedded love of harmonies. How Naomi Shihab Nye reminded her, "When times are hard, do something satisfying." Plus a sticky cocklebur song! Episode 100: A Moon for the Misbegotten by Eugene O'Neill Host: Douglas Schatz Guest: Beth Wynstra Welcome to The Play Podcast where we explore the greatest new and classic plays. Each episode we choose a single play to talk about in depth with our expert guest. We'll discuss the play's origins, its themes, characters, structure and impact. For us the play is the thing. A Moon for the Misbegotten is the last play that Eugene O'Neill wrote. It is in some way a eulogy for his brother, Jamie O'Neill, who like the character of Jim Tyrone in this play, drank himself to death. In fact, it is also an epilogue of sorts to his autobiographical masterpiece Long Day's Journey into Night, where we first met Jim Tyrone. It is eleven years later, and Jim is about to leave the family home in Connecticut following the death of his parents, but not before saying a final goodbye to the woman who lives next door, Josie Hogan. Josie and Jim have unacknowledged feelings for each other, but their tortured moonlit night together does not offer them the salvation or future that they may have thought possible. As we record this episode, a new production of A Moon for the Misbegotten is playing at the Almeida theatre in London, and I am delighted to be joined by O'Neill expert, Beth Wynstra, to explore what one American critic called ‘a major minor-masterpiece”. To mark our 100th episode listeners have a chance to win £100 of theatre tokens – visit https://www.theplaypodcast.com/100-a-moon-for-the-misbegotten-by-eugene-oneill/ for details on how to enter!

“But this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I will certainly bring my people back again from all the countries where I will scatter them in my fury. I will bring them back to this very city and let them live in peace and safety. They will be my people, and I will be their God. And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me. I will find joy doing good for them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land. - Jeremiah 32:37-41Jeremiah is a book not for the faint of heart. It's a big book, 52 chapters and with a greater word count than any other book in the Bible. It's a troubling book - the warnings from a prophet of God telling people what is going to befall them if they don't repent and turn back to the God of their ancestors. It's a sad book as it tells of the destruction of Jerusalem. There's no doubt, Jeremiah is a behemoth of an Old Testament book. But, it's not a book to ignore by any means. At its heart, even with the difficult things in the book, Jeremiah is still a book about hope. It's still a book about the faithfulness of God. The passage I read at the beginning from Jeremiah 32 makes that clear. We learn so much about God in this book - it's truly a rich, theological text. But like I said, it's not for the faint of heart so to help us navigate this book today is Dr. Jerry Hwang, author of the ESV commentary on Jeremiah.
