In this episode of the Defiant Health podcast, I bring together a number of strategies I've discussed piecemeal  in past that have enormous potential to improve skin: reduce wrinkle depth, increase dermal collagen, increase dermal moisture, accelerate healing, reduce existing sun damage and prevent future sun damage. Recall that we don't achieve this with topical application, but with oral consumption. It's the dermal layer of skin, after all, beneath the largely impenetrable epidermis, that is the seat of skin health and appearance. If the dermis cannot be effectively accessed through the exterior epidermis, how do you achieve improvements in the dermal layer? Orally, of course. For instance, hyaluronic acid consumed orally exerts dermal benefits body-wide. So let's discuss strategies that you can adopt that provide smooth, healthy, more youthful skin, but all achieved orally. ______________________________________________________________________________For BiotiQuest probiotics including Sugar Shift, go here.A 15% discount is available for Defiant Health podcast listeners by entering discount code UNDOC15 (case-sensitive) at checkout.*_________________________________________________________________________________Get your 15% Paleovalley discount on fermented grass-fed beef sticks, Bone Broth Collagen, low-carb snack bars and other high-quality organic foods here.* For 12% off every order of grass-fed and pasture-raised meats from Wild Pastures, go here. From now through August, Paleovalley is running a Buy One Get One Free promotion on Essential Electrolytes. Like a warm placid river running down her tongue to her throat. That's more or less how Ally describes the crucial last moments of oral pleasure as she gives it to her male partner. "It irrigates my tonsils," she says, as she relaxes into her easy chair. "It's like he's delivering me a medicine I didn't know I wanted, but I did." This self-evident truth shouldn't distract you, dear listener, from the other important topics discussed in this week's installment of YMMV. We discuss attractiveness levels as a person ages, followed by a discussion of what truly constitutes a "God Pussy" (c.f. the subreddit of the same name). It should come as little surprise that some men have a hard time telling when their partner is having a real orgasm, cleverly named by Mike as a "Cis-Orgasm," following the conventions of America in the 20's. And, what is a man to do who wants his female partner to be more dominant? We get a lot of our questions from Reddit, so for our listeners' enjoyment, here are links to some of the questions we discussed this week: https://ymmv.me/140/no-blow https://ymmv.me/140/camping https://ymmv.me/140/feeling-it https://ymmv.me/140/dominant Twitter: @ymmvpod Facebook: ymmvpod Email: ymmvpod@gmail.com

How to Optimize Your Thyroid Medication: 4 Tweaks to Get You Back to 100%

This video outlines how to optimize your thyroid medication so that you can get back to feeling 100%. There's no question that many thyroid patients continue to suffer with low thyroid symptoms despite taking their thyroid medication faithfully. As a result, this has prompted some thyroid patients to believe that perhaps the issue is related to the treatments for hypothyroidism. I've been getting a lot questions asking me when will new types of treatments for thyroid disease become available. Unfortunately, this type of thinking is not really the right way to look at the problem. Yes, there are a lot of thyroid patients suffering but it's not necessarily of available treatments and more an issue of how they are using those treatments. When you look at thyroid medications you will find that every single one is bio-identical to your thyroid. In other words, that means that all thyroid medications look identical to the thyroid hormone that your body produces naturally. In other words, the treatments are pretty good. The issue stems from how you take it. If you aren't feeling well then you can consider making these changes to optimize your thyroid medication: #1. Change the type of thyroid medication that you are taking. Many thyroid patients are only aware of levothyroxine and synthyroid but there are many subcategories of thyroid medication including: T4 only thyroid medications. T4 + T3 combinations of thyroid medications. NDT formulations. And T3 only medications. #2. Change how you take your thyroid medication. There are 3 different ways that you can take your thyroid medication including: Orally (swallowing your pill) Sublingually (dissolving your medication under your tongue) Injection form (taking your thyroid medication via injection) #3. Change the time of day that you take your thyroid medication. You can take your thyroid medication at different times of the day including: In the morning In the evening Splitting your dose and taking it multiple times throughout the day Alternate daily total doses of your medication #4. Change your dose of thyroid medication. Lastly, you can adjust your thyroid medication either up or down. If you do this make sure you wait at least 4-6 weeks to determine if it has worked for you! The orally dissolving tablet is a solid dosage form that is sometimes viewed as an unsung hero compared to other patient-centric drug delivery systems. ODTs are becoming increasingly important in the pharmaceutical market for both prescription and OTC medications not least because they can significantly improve patient compliance.

The lining of the gut acts naturally as a protective barrier to harmful or oversized materials. Many orally-administered drugs consisting of macromolecules or peptides are difficult to deliver because of their poor permeability across the intestine resulting in failure to reach the bloodstream. Patient preference would be to take these types of medicines orally rather than the currently available delivery route of injections. Professor David J. Brayden, at University College Dublin, is dedicated to enhancing the oral delivery of peptides and other macromolecules. His team and collaborators are conducting cutting edge research on the effects of specific sugar-based monoesters as intestinal permeation enhancers.

What is this podcast all about: Orality Here are a few highlight's we cover: Preeminence of Orality around the world in restricted and unreached areas of the world. Story of “Jesus loves me this I know for their “Faces tell me so” in China. Currently over 40 million Chinese lack a personal Bible. Story of Russell going along the river in Colombia and lady waved them down to receive her first Bible of 20 years. Currently over seven million Venezuelans lack a personal Bible. How Jesus Mostly Communicated "Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”"  (Luke 24:44) Christians communicated the gospel orally for the first three centuries Most Christians in history grown in discipleship through oral communication "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak,"  (2 Corinthians 4:7-13) How effective leaders most often communicate Leaders develop effective oral communication. American's are Oral Learners If Americans are mostly oral learners what about the rest of the world? The developing world? About SOM SOM International priority is distributing the Word of God. And the first line of offense is Orally. This is why our Church Planting Schools and Lighthouse schools around the world focus on the Oral Word of God. In Latin America we are harnessing radio as a way to communicate God's Word.

The Vedas are the Scriptures of the Hindus, transmitted Orally for over Five Thousand years.   These are Four in Number and each of them are divided into Four portions, Samhita, which consists predominantly of Hymns.   Bahmnanas, which mainly speak of duties to be performed by a House-holder,   Aranyakas, which contain instructions to be followed when one retires to forest and meditates on The Reality and   The Upanishads, which are inquiries into the Nature of the elf and/Reality.   For more on Vedas please read pots filed under Indian Philosophy/Hinduism.   Samhitas mean ‘Compilation of Knowledge.'    The Samhitas andBrahmanas form the Karma-Kanda segment of the Vedas and deals with ceremonial rites and rituals, whilst the Aranyakas and theUpanishads form the Gyan-Kanda segment of the Vedas and focus on philosophy and spiritualism.   The Samhitas form the first part of each of the four Vedas. As Samhita is the collection of the mantras, so sometimes Samhitas are referred to as Mantras. Most of these mantras or hymns are concerned with nature and deities.   The Samhitas are named after the Vedas they belong to, for example Rig-Samhitas or Rig-Veda-Samhitas will refer to Samhitas ofRigveda. Rig-Samhitas consist of mantras known as Richas. Sam-Samhitas consist of mantras in the form of songs, which are meant for liturgy. Yajur-Samhitas consist of mantras composed in the form of poems and prose. Atharva-Samhitas consist of mantras meant for routine rites and rituals. Every Veda contains Mantras / Suktas   सूक्त sUkta n. Vedic hymn  सूक्त sUkta n. song of praise  सूक्त sUkta adj. well or properly said or recited सूक्त sUkta adj. well said  सूक्त sUkta n. wise saying   Vedic Suktas:  A Suktam is a part or portion of Vedic verses in praise of a Deity or group of Deities to please accordingly, and to have a desire fulfilled.   Many Suktas are simple Prayers without any specific mundane goal, the goal being Self Realization.   Each Mantra is of any of these three types.   Rik- Metrical and obeys one of any 100 defined Meters, Verse of Illumination.   Yajur Mantra is Prose.   Sama is detailed rhythmic  singing of A Mantra.   Rig Veda and Atharva Veda have only Rks.   Yajur has both Rk and Yajur(Prose) There are common verses in both Rig Veda and Yajur Veda Samhitas.   Rig Veda Samhita.   “This is the oldest Vedic text, as also the largest.   It comprises of 10552 mantras in 1028 hymns (=Suktas).   The hymns are divided amongst 10 books called the ‘mandalas'.   Mandala 9 has 114 hymns address to Soma. Mandalas 1 and 10 are considered later additions, for most part.   The Rigveda Samhita is often also divided into 8 parts called ‘Ashtakas' which are further divided into 8 chapters each.   Thus, there are 64 chapters according to this classification, which is later than the Mandala scheme'.   Sama Veda Samhitas have 1875 Riks.   Yajur Veda.   Shukla Yajur has 3988 Mantras.   Krishna Yajur 700 Mantras.   Atharva Veda Samhita   Atharvaveda Samhitas are Shaunakiya and Paippalada.   The former has 5977 mantras arranged in 20 books called ‘kandas' while the latter has approximately 7950 mantras arranged in as many kandas.   List of Suktas. Hey Messy Podcast! I'm 23 and have had a pretty great/adventurous sex life over the past several years. Sex is great, dating on and off is great, and I love giving blow jobs (like, seriously, I love giving a great blow job). The only thing I can't get down with (heh, sorry) is when a guy goes down on me. It's only happened twice — once on a guy's mom's couch in 11th grade and once with a guy I was in a relationship with in college. I absolutely hated both experiences. I don't know if it's an insecurity thing or if someone can actually hate receiving oral. But any advice to make it more enjoyable would be amazing. Have a great day! This allows therapies that would normally break down in the stomach to reach the small intestine, where they can be absorbed. At the end of June, the company won approval for Mycapssa, the first and only oral therapy to treat acromegaly, a rare condition in which the overproduction of growth hormone can lead to serious health conditions. It was the first drug approved using the company's drug delivery technology. We spoke to Raj Kannan, CEO of Chiasma, about the company's recently approved therapy for acromegaly, the company's drug delivery technology, and the value of having oral alternatives to injectable therapies.

In addition to networking and opportunities to share your elevator pitch, the interview context is the most significant opportunity you will have to tell your personal story. Before the interview be sure to research the organization and prepare some questions that you want to ask. During the interview you might get a "situational" question or a "behavioral" one.  A situational question is exactly what it says, i.e. a hypothetical situation.  When they ask that kind of question, they are looking for leadership.  Use the VALUE framework to describe how you would handle the situation. V - Vision, Al - Alignment of Resources, U - Understand, ensure everyone truly understands what is going on and E - Enactment - make it happen. For the Behavioral questions, use the model STAR.  Situation, Task, Action and Result. And be sure to follow up after the interview with a thank you message. If you want to learn more about interviewing techniques, check out the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT68iezmHnEGood luck.

Delivering biologics orally rather than through injection has been an intriguing goal but has proven difficult. Most efforts have focused on finding ways to turn these large protein molecules into formulations where they would not breakdown in the along the digestive tract before they can be absorbed and provide a therapeutic benefit. Rani Therapeutics has taken an unusual tact. Rather than reconceiving the biologic, Rani has reconceived the pill itself. The company has developed what it calls a “robotic” pill that carries the therapeutic to the gut where it injects the drug into the wall of the intestines. We spoke to Mir Imran, chairman and CEO Rani Therapeutics, about how the Rani Pill delivers biologics orally, the technology underlying it, and how the company thinks about the opportunities it will pursue.

Dr. Jeff talks about what Essential Oils really are.  Plants are processed and the oil extracted.  In the oils are compounds that create healing in the body.  He gave examples with Frankincense and Wintergreen.  Oregano is a “relaxing” oil but considered a hot oil so use a carrier oil on the skin.  See below for more information. Essential oils are so amazing that once in contact with the skin the healing compounds are actually found in our bloodstream within 30 seconds. I asked Jeff about the safety of Essential Oils.  Study after study show that essential oils that are non-adulterated brands are safe to use on the body and even in the body.  We spoke about the supplement label on the bottle being one tell tail sign of a quality oil. How to use Essential Oils 3 drops of an oil is considered a therapeutic dose Up to 12 different essential oils can be used at once safely   Mechanistic use is the use of essential oils to fix a current health issue Use the oils every 4 hours until the health issue is handled   Vitalistic use is the use of essential oils to maintain or continue to build health Use the oils once per day   Topically the oils can be rubbed directly in to the skin.  Some people are sensitive to oils so the use of a carrier oil to allow the full contact and potency of the oils as well as for protection can be done.  Fractionated coconut oil is the best choice and should be used in a 1:1 ratio (Example.  1 drop of essential oil for 1 drop of coconut oil) Roller bottles can also be made by placing drops in a roller bottle and filling with carrier oil. Rubbing Essential Oils on the feet can be of great benefit as the pores are the largest.  This is great for essential oil use for children and babies. Orally the same essential oils for the body can be combined in a veggie capsule.              I personally buy the “00” size capsules for this purpose.  Dr. Jeff and I spoke about examples of essential oils for pain management.  See resource links for recipes for pain. We also spoke about oils like Lavender and Melissa for stress as essential oils have a great affect on our emotional side.   Finally, we talked about rest and sleep.  Dr. Jeff instructed us to use diffusers to atomize the essential oils in to the air.  Lavender, Wood oils (from trees), Root oils, Vetiver are examples he gave us that we could put in our diffusers in our bedrooms and around the house to help us relax and sleep. We spoke about the absolute importance of using only quality essential oils.  Here is the link to the essential oils brand that I use in my home and office and recommend to everyone.  Dr. Jeff was very clear on symptoms not improving in any way with cheap oils. Please reach out if you need advice on ordering and help understanding more about which oils to buy.  http://my.doterra.com/pspodcast Please begin to learn more as you need.  Not every oil is the same for everyone and there are many to choose from so begin to learn and ask questions. Dr. Jeff resources  https://www.facebook.com/jeffstyba/ for more information To become a real expert on essential oils on not just pain but for health and life and to learn more this is a fantastic resource and worth every penny https://myoillab.mykajabi.com/single-oil-master-class-sp?fbclid=IwAR06iotMU87ae6-zb97Ra1wUfBFkpK-QdhCYTJwSHxhxgMmeblQP2xLFxo4 Here is the recipe I used in my roller bottle 20 drops wintergreen 20 drops balance (blend offered by DoTerra) 10 drops eucalyptus 5 drops frankincense 5 drops black pepper 2 oz. fractionated coconut oil   Put the oils in the roller bottle first (can be bought on amazon) then the coconut oil   I also did the following combined in a veggie capsule every 4 hours. 3 drops Frankincense 3 drops Oregano 3 drops Lavender   I applied DoTerra pain and inflammation blend Deep Blue (comes in a rub which I recommend) on my back over the area of the disc problem every 4 hours (but only when skin was room temp) and 3 drops of Oregano on the bottom of my feet also every 4 hours.    Finally, this is not medical advice.  If you have more concerns please consult your doctor.

Pediatric and primary hyperoxaluria is a rare genetic condition that causes over absorption of oxalate, a compound found in many foods. Too much oxalate can lead to the formation of kidney stones and cause progressive damage of the kidneys. Allena Pharmaceuticals is developing an oral enzyme to treat both the rare form of hyperoxaluria and a more common form of the condition. We spoke to Louis Brenner, CEO of Allena, about the company’s experimental therapy to treat hyperoxaluria, it’s platform for delivering enzymes orally, and the potential to apply the technology beyond kidney diseases.

Over half of the world’s population is afflicted with some form of chronic or degenerative illness. Heart disease, autoimmune disease, diabetes, neurological conditions, cancer, Lyme disease―the list goes on. The conventional, allopathic, treat-the-symptom-with-pharmaceutical-drugs model is rapidly falling out of favor as patients are searching for nontoxic, advanced prevention and healing modalities that actually work. Bioregulatory medicine involves fixing this issue with a model that has proven effective for decades in forward-thinking developed countries, including Switzerland and Germany. Our bodies have many bioregulating systems, including the cardiovascular, digestive, neurological, respiratory, endocrine, and so on. Bioregulatory medicine is a comprehensive and holistic approach to health that advocates the use of natural healing methods to support and restore the body’s intrinsic self-regulating and self-healing mechanisms, as opposed to simply treating symptoms with integrative therapies. Bioregulatory medicine is about discovering the root cause of disease and takes into account the entire person from a genetic, epigenetic, metabolic, energetic, and emotional point of view. So while patients may have the same disease or prognosis, the manifestation of illness is entirely bioindividual and must be treated and prevented on an individual level. Bioregulatory medicine addresses the four pillars of health―drainage and detox, diet, mind-body medicine, and oral health―using a sophisticated synthesis of the very best natural medicine with modern advances in technology. In addition to identifying the cause of disease, bioregulatory medicine promotes disease prevention and early intervention of illness through noninvasive diagnostics and treatments, and incorporates the use of over 100 different non-toxic diagnostics and treatments from around the world. Forward-thinking patients and integrative practitioners will find bioregulatory medicine invaluable as they seek to deepen their understanding of the body’s many regulating systems and innate ability to heal itself. My guest on today's podcast, Dr. Dickson Thom, is the author of the new book  He graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in 1974. He obtained his first Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1986, and in 1989 he completed a second Naturopathic degree from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Thom was a full-time professor and the past Dean of Naturopathic Medicine at NCNM where he taught clinical and physical diagnosis, gastroenterology, neurology, practical endocrinology, x-ray practicum and business entrepreneurship for almost 25 years. In addition, he was a clinic supervisor to hundreds of students and managed care for thousands of patients. Dr. Thom is now the medical director at the American Center for Biological Medicine and the American Center for Alternative Medicine in Scottsdale, AZ. These clinics are state of the art and uniquely manage care for patients from around the world. For a complete description of these unique offerings, visit the web site . Dr. Thom lectures extensively on health and business topics and has written and collaborated in the writing of many articles and books dealing with drainage, nutrition and business. Dr. Thom studied extensively with Gérard Guéniot, MD and incorporates Dr. Guéniot’s work into his seminar lectures and his private practice in Scottsdale, AZ. Orally and intravenously administered glucose yields comparable levels of glucose in plasma but different responses of insulin-release. Specialised mucosa cells react to glucose contents in chyme with release of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) into the portal bloodstream, a peptide hormone, that makes beta-cells more sensitive to the subsequent glucose stimulus and thereby enhances the insulin-release exclusively under increased blood glucose levels without causing the insulin-release directly. The capacity of this entero-insular axis is limited primarily by the endogenous enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV). Prevailingly the most progressive approach to therapy of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) in human medicine is targeted on the inhibition of DPP-IV, in order to raise GLP-1 concentration in plasma and to increase consequently the insulin-release in dependence on elevated blood glucose levels. In the limelight of discussion are the advantages of certain avoidance of insulin-caused hypoglycaemia on the one hand and the possibility of oral administration of the antienzyme on the other hand. In contrast to the condition in dogs, where the disease manifests almost exclusively in the form of secondary (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus, the type 2 (NIDDM) predominates in humans as well as in cats, whence it comes that the employment of oral antidiabetics in the latter species is quite promising, as the experience with the sulfonyl urea derivative glipizide has shown. As however the residual capacity of beta-cells of feline diabetics with regard to the release of endogenous insulin is subject to considerable variation, the risk of inducing hypoglycaemia is given by use of both insulin and sulfonyl urea derivatives, whereas this threat is circumvented by use of DPP-IV-inhibitors. In the present thesis the effect of DPP-IV inhibition on the elimination kinetics of GLP-1 is described by means of systematically combined infusion of the enzyme’s substrate (GLP-1) and its antienzyme in the rat model. The maximum effective dose of DPP-IV inhibitor is determined and the portion of hepatic clearance and whole blood clearance of total elimination of GLP-1 without concurrent DPP-IV inhibition is quantified approximately by means of isolated perfused rat livers and in-vitro-experiments. Finally the dependence of results on the respective experimental design is demonstrated. The total clearance of GLP-1 as substrate of DPP-IV without concurrent inhibition amounts to at least 57 ± 17 (mL/min)/kg and under influence of the DPP-IV-inhibitor to at least 22 ± 2 (mL/min)/kg. The value of clearance is highly dependent on the respective substrate concentration in plasma, so that the values range from 139 ± 57 (mL/min)/kg to 73 ± 15 (mL/min)/kg within the bounds of physiological GLP-1 concentrations in plasma. The maximum increase of GLP-1 levels in plasma (factor 3.4) on average of all GLP-1 infusion rates was attained by a DPP-IV inhibitor concentration in plasma of 0.4 µmol/L. The liver as central detoxication-organ figures out at 57 % (34/60) of total clearance, the soluble DPP-IV fraction in plasma however accounts for only about 1 % (0.7/60) of total clearance. The relatively low hepatic extraction ratio of 30 ± 11 % reversely allows seven out of ten GLP-1 molecules to enter the systemic circulation in spite of the first-pass-effect and thereby to reach possibly the receptors on the beta-cells (70 % bioavailability). The half-life of GLP-1 (7-36 amide) in the isolated perfused rat liver amounts to 5.0 ± 1.3 minutes, hereby differing statistically not significantly (p = 0.114) from the half-life of GLP-1 (7-37) with 6.1 ± 1.6 minutes.

Orally bioavailable CDK4 and 6 inhibitors have become established standard-of-care options in HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer, and these agents are now expected to have a major impact in early breast cancer (EBC). CDK4 and 6 inhibition has recently shown significant benefit as adjuvant therapy in patients at high risk of early recurrence, but other studies in the adjuvant and neoadjuvant settings are under way as well. How should these advances be transitioned to the clinic based on the accumulating supportive evidence?
