Dan and Mike break down why the personal scandal may only be the tip of the iceberg, drawing parallels to the NFLPA's Lloyd Howell situation and raising questions about self-dealing, misuse of union funds, and what Bruce Meyer's interim appointment means heading into a critical CBA negotiation year. From there, the duo covers the quiet settlement of the Jaden Rashada NIL lawsuit — one of the most closely watched cases in college sports law — and what the undisclosed resolution tells us about leverage, discovery, and the war of attrition in NIL litigation. They then pivot to the University of Cincinnati's lawsuit against transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby over a $1 million buyout clause, and what it signals for the future of revenue-sharing contracts and the transfer portal.Dan and Mike also tackle the NBA's escalating tanking crisis, including Adam Silver's record fines, the crisis summit with all 30 GMs, and what a potential draft overhaul could look like. The conversation then shifts to the UFC, Dana White's First Amendment stance, Sean Strickland's mic cut at the post-fight presser, and the tension brewing between the UFC's culture and its new Paramount partnership. The episode closes with Dan's passionate recommendation of the Jim Thorpe documentary Lit by Lightning — which he calls the greatest sports documentary he's ever seen — plus a shoutout to the Steph Curry film The Goat, and a listener challenge: first 10 people to watch either and send proof win a Conduct Detrimental shirt.Let us know your thoughts!***Have a topic you want to write about? In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Brooke Lively discuss: Recognizing that law firms must master the business of law Prioritizing rocks before everything else Building culture through the right people and real accountability Understanding personal wiring and stage fit   Key Takeaways: Law school teaches legal doctrine, not leadership, systems, or execution. Firms that struggle often lack clear vision, aligned people, and real accountability. Frameworks like EOS provide structure for turning intention into consistent results. You cannot pursue every opportunity at once without diluting impact. Identifying quarterly “rocks” forces focus and determines what gets a firm's time and attention. Without clear priorities, “urgent” noise will crowd out important progress. Success depends on having the right people in the right seats and refusing to tolerate toxic high performers. Clear metrics, documented processes, and regular follow-through create traction. When accountability becomes normal, execution improves across the firm. Leaders thrive in different environments, whether scrappy growth or mature stability. Misalignment between personality and company stage can create friction and unintended chaos. Self-awareness allows both the leader and the firm to operate at their best.   "The urgent overtakes the important, and the important never gets done." —  Brooke Lively   Check out my new show, Be That Lawyer Coaches Corner, and get the strategies I use with my clients to win more business and love your career again.   Ready to go from good to GOAT in your legal marketing game? 0:00 ... Ross hello and welcome the crew ... episode #227 is dedicated to Jordan Walsh of the Celtics. 0:59 ... Bruce introduces his fellow "Brucie B" ... Bruce Bowen ... 1:49 ... Bruce tells the story of the "unretirement" of his #12 jersey that he wore with the Spurs. 3:17 ... How Bowen basically created the position we now know as the "Three and D" and what the role meant to him. 5:02 ... On his battles with Kobe Bryant and how he approached the matchup ... his description of how he used film to prepare is really interesting. And how Kobe was always in attack mode. 7:34 ... Bowen's legendary battle with LeBron James in the 2007 NBA Finals and how he forced LeBron into uncomfortable shots.  But Bruce also appreciates LeBron's skills. 9:00 ... Ross asks Bruce about current stars and how he would guard some of them.  Jaylen Brown is singled out by Bowen for his intelligence in many areas. 11:33 ... Phoenix Suns fan Ross still has nightmares from his Suns playing the Spurs back in the day.  Bruce explains how hard it was to beat those guys in the postseason and how the Suns never played defense under Mike D'Antoni. 14:25 ... Bruce played for Pat Riley in Miami early in his career and he shares some amazing insight on how he and Riles interacted during their time together.  He tells an incredible story about a tense contract discussion and how he said goodbye to Miami and bet on himself to succeed in San Antonio. 18:57 ... Bruce played for Miami in some intense playoff battles against the Knicks and Bruce explains the connection from two coaches named Van Gundy with Riles.  Bruce has memories of Knicks fans coming to Florida to root for the Knicks. 21:27 ... World B asks Bruce about Tim Duncan and why he is not in the "GOAT" conversation.  Bruce gives a great analysis of how Tim thinks and how he took the baton from David Robinson and won more championships.  Bruce gives a great blueprint on Duncan's road to becoming a leader.  Bruce shares a great story of how Gregg Popovich made it clear that if Tim felt he wanted to leave San Antonio, he should explore his options.  And Tim never left. 25:18 ... Bruce takes a deep dive into his relationship with Gregg Popovich and how people misconstrued Pop's relationship with players.  Pop always made it clear that his job was to coach guys and that the negative stuff always came from a good place. 29:18 ... As for the current Spurs team ... there's tremendous upside with Victor Wembanyama and young head coach Mitch Johnson.  Victor brings guys together and all the current players respect each other.  Bruce mentions Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper as young studs along with a mature group of veterans that have quickly developed great chemistry. 33:16 ... Wemby has a competitive edge that has surprised a lot of people because of the way he looks.  The way he presented himself at All Star Weekend demonstrated leadership. 36:08 ... Bruce explains how Mitch Johnson has echoed some of Pop's philosophy but in a more contemporary style.  Pop was so much of a legend that he seemed unapproachable to younger guys but Mitch is from their era and relates well. 39:09 ... Dylan Harper is a rookie who is learning quickly what it means to be a Spur.  Having a system that emphasizes the team over personal agendas helps young players develop more quickly.  Bruce feels the team success gives Harper a chance to make a bigger impact that hotter rookie names like Cooper Flagg and VJ Edgecombe. 42:07 ... Bruce from 48 Minutes predicted greatness for the Spurs long before they started playing like a championship contender.  But they're so far ahead of schedule that they look like they could win it all this year.  What could stop them?  The "other" Bruce breaks it all down. 44:57 ... When discussing the officials and all the heat they're getting, Bruce feels like the the replays have hurt the relationship between players, coaches, and refs.  Bruce has little patience for guys that can't put a bad call behind them and keep playing.   As always, he has a great story about official Danny Crawford, who was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame. 48:59 ... The 65 game minimum for postseason awards has cost some players awards that they might have won.  Is 65 the right number of minimum games or should the number be lower ... maybe 62?  Bruce feels the awards should take a back seat to what is best for the team. 52:13 ... Word Association ... David Robinson: Man of Faith 53:21 ... Draymond Green ... Fiery and Comfortable with Self 56:11 ... Luka Doncic ... Talented to a Fault 57:42 ...Tony Parker ... Wisdom at a Young Age 59:14 ... Shai Gilgeous Alexander ... Aggressive Competitor 1:00:17 ... Trump sends USS Mercy to Greenland and papers create a scandal by saying nobody knows why, when they don't bother to do the research. Russia sends an oil tanker steaming to Cuba — and Trump's blockade. Stephen A. Smith rips Democrats who are boycotting President Trump's State of the Union. Mexico's most-wanted drug dealer gets splattered as America expands its military footprint in the country. Chris Christie blames Trump for AOC thinking she can be president, joining the bipartisan condescension of mocking her as “just a bartender,” as if people don't love bartenders. Syria asks Germany not to return their refugees, calling them a security risk.

Breeding decisions, feed calculations, replacement standards, and herd focus all shape profitability but rarely in dramatic ways. Most goat herds don't fall apart overnight. They slowly lose momentum because of small management decisions that compound over time. In this episode, I walk through five mistakes that can quietly erode profitability in a goat herd. From breeding does too early to failing to track does exposed to breeding, feeding without running the math, and keeping goats out of sentiment, we break down the practical decisions that either strengthen or weaken your system. You'll hear how delayed breeding improved longevity in our forage-based herd, why exposed-doe metrics give a more honest fertility picture, how simple feed calculations can prevent waste and overconditioning, and how tightening replacement standards shapes long-term herd direction. I also share the hard decision we made to focus fully on commercial meat goats when our goals became clearer. The goal isn't perfection, it's intentional management. If you've been working hard but feel like your herd isn't progressing the way it should, this episode will help you step back, evaluate your system, and tighten the areas that matter most. In This Episode, I Cover: Why breeding does at the wrong stage of development increases replacement pressure How delayed breeding improved longevity and reduced kidding problems in our herd Why tracking “does exposed to breeding” gives a more accurate fertility picture The importance of measuring singles, twins, triplets, and assistance rates How to calculate feed intake using body weight and dry matter percentages Why protein is the most expensive nutrient you feed How overconditioning affects breed-up The long-term cost of keeping goats for emotional reasons Why tightening replacement standards improves herd direction How unclear production goals create inconsistent selection decisions Key Takeaways: Longevity is profit Fertility must be measured honestly to improve Feed efficiency requires both math and observation Replacement standards should tighten over time Sentiment has a cost — acknowledge it Clear production goals drive consistent herd improvement Small management decisions compound over years Related Episodes: 22 | What Is the Perfect Meat Goat? Sarah Bishop has a little extra compared to the rest of us.  Even though she endures daily struggles with Sarcoidosis she pushes herself to the limit.  In this case the limit is an endurance event called The Goat, which takes place in her native New Zealand.  Sarah turned her expedition into a fundraiser for the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, and it gained national notoriety and momentum.  In this episode of the FSR Sarc Fighter podcast, Sarah describes the grueling training and how sarcoidosis makes everything just that much more difficult.     Show Notes   Sarah's Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1171838998236662/posts/1171929584894270/ MORE FROM JOHN: Cycling with Sarcoidosis http://carlinthecyclist.com/category/cycling-with-sarcoidosis/ Do you like the official song for the Sarc Fighter podcast?  It's also an FSR fundraiser!
