In 2006 I went down with a mystery illness, in 2017 it turned out to be Lyme Disease. One of my go to supplements was Vitamin C. From 2006 onwards, I read books and watched countless and seminars on subjects I didn't know about, one of my most watched people was Dr Thomas Levy, so, it was my pleasure to welcome him on the Podcast. Dr Levy is someone who I hold in very high esteem, he is a board-certified cardiologist, Dr & author , he has written several books, including the two bibles about Vitamin C research in [my humble opinion], Curing the Incurable & Primal Panacea, he's also wrote Stop America's #1 Killer, & Death by Calcium and many more all must reads for anyone interested in taking control of their own, health. This week the gang is all together in the studio to find the worst podcasts in the mental health category. I brought a show called “Terrible, Thanks For Asking” that pretty much just explains it's okay to be miserable all the time. Great advice. Lucy brought “Am I A Bad Therapist?” where people who have no business trying to help others pat themselves on the back. Finally, Andy came in with another whiny woman, this time it was Trisha Paytus. Please don't reward him for that. She's the worst! After the competition, our Cringe of the Week reminds us that Mom Swipes Left is hosted by two very gross women. Also, the song parody contest is ramping up with some amazing submissions. Then Cardiff joins the show to discuss one of John's most pathetic episodes ever. He continued to lie over and over and even swore on his life as he was getting called out. And finally, the return of To Poke A Dabbler, reviews with Annie, and your voicemails. https://www.youtube.com/@OnceOverwithCayley https://www.instagram.com/allapologiespodcast https://www.patreon.com/cardiffelectric Support us, get bonus episodes, Vic and Hannah pics, and watch live every Saturday and most Wednesdays: http://bit.ly/watp-patreon https://watp.supercast.tech/ Visit magicmind.co/watp and use promo code watp for 20% off your purchase or up to 50% off a subscription! In this episode of the "No Sitting on the Sideline Dad" podcast, we welcome Douglas Mulhall, a seasoned expert in the field of Environmental Health. With over 30 years of experience, Mulhall shares his unique insights into how our environment impacts our health and how our health, in turn, impacts the environment. One of the key topics we delve into is the issue of antimicrobial resistance, a significant environmental health concern. Mulhall explains how the overuse of drugs in humans and animals has led to microbes and viruses becoming resistant to therapies, posing a serious threat to global health. Inspired by his father's death from heart disease, Mulhall has developed a keen interest in the role of inflammation in heart disease. He sheds light on the function of elastin, a crucial protein in the human body that degrades over time and is not replaced, leading to an inflammatory response in the body. We also discuss the potential of new therapies to repair elastin, which could potentially reverse heart disease. While these therapies are still in the experimental stage, they hold promise for the future of heart disease treatment. Mulhall recommends a couple of tests that can be done to detect early signs of heart disease: the Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Test (CIMT) and the Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) score. He also mentions a nutraceutical product called Nano BacTX, which has been on the market for 20 years and has been endorsed by several high-level cardiologists. Finally, we explore the benefits of a plant-based diet as a way to reduce inflammation in the body and potentially reverse heart disease. This episode is packed with valuable insights and practical advice, making it a must-listen for anyone interested in health and wellness. According to Edison Research, there are more podcast listeners than ever, with 64% of the US 12+ population having ever listened to a podcast. With over half a million active podcasts available, more time is being devoted to mental health discussions. However, little is known about the motivation and experiences of people listening to mental health related material in podcasts. Joining us today are Dr. Sharon Lambert and Naoise Ó Caoilte from University College Cork in Ireland, who have studied the motivations and experiences of mental health-related podcast listeners. Their recent paper is entitled "Podcasts as a Tool for Enhancing Mental Health Literacy: An Investigation of Mental Health-Related Podcasts," and it appears in the journal Mental Health & Prevention. In this interview, we discuss the importance of mental health literacy and ask if the need for honest mental health experiences is being met from the recording studio rather than the consulting room. *** Mad in America podcasts and reports are made possible, in part, by a grant from the Thomas Jobe Fund. Times have been tough. Pandemic burnout, war, a mounting climate crisis and soaring prices on everything from gas to groceries. Few people have gotten through the last few years without grieving some kind of loss. The good news? We're definitely not alone. This week we're unpacking mental health with podcasts that uplift, investigate and validate. There's the grief that comes from losing someone you love, but have you ever experienced climate grief? It's the feeling of hopelessness as the climate crisis gets worse and worse. But for one Canadian musician, out of those feelings of fear, sadness and angst came artistic inspiration. We'll hear the conversation with folk band The Weather Station in a clip from Reseed. Plus, treatment for mental health has had a huge evolution in the last century. The evolution continues as the Toronto facility “Remedy” researches the use of MDMA to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Find out why the early results have researchers and patients so excited. This week's episode is amazing! Nicole and Alanna are joined by Lindsay Mitchell, the creator of Vital Side which is (as Lindsay puts it) an innovative approach to intentional brain re-training. Reviews I receive from listeners frequently mention how grateful they are to have found a podcast that focus on practical application of herbs and has a holistic approach that isn't heavy in “Mother Earth” or “woo woo” references. While I am grateful to be able to provide that, these reviews inspired me to make a list of other podcasts that this group of listeners would enjoy. This episode is the result of that mission, and I hope you will be encouraged and inspired to check out these wonderful resources and find more podcasts that work well for you. Mark Pellegrino is a unique actor in modern Hollywood. For a guy who has played Lucifer (Supernatural) and an abusive ex (Dexter), you could call him something of a unicorn for his politics. Pellegrino is a committed Objectivist, an adherent of Ayn Rand and the founder of the American Capitalist Party. He believes deeply that emotion, altruism, and instinct are not good guides for a healthy politics or society. Stephen Kent speaks with Mark Pellegrino, and Robby Soave (Reason) author of Tech Panic, about how COVID reshaped the world and challenged the claims of Ayn Rand about the virtues of self-interest. Pellegrino, Kent and Soave cover masking policies, vaccines, Fauci-ism, surviving cancel culture in Hollywood, the rush to regulate big tech companies and Pellegrino dishes on some details of “Lost” regarding his crucial character, Jacob. Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men's Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there. In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a listener's question about chronic urologic pain: "Dr. Mystery, I have constant pain from the bladder through the prostate and into my testicles. What would be the next step?" Dr. Mistry explains that testicular and pelvic pain are typically difficult to diagnose, but at NAU Urology Specialists, we take an algorithmic approach that narrows the cause down to either infection, inflammation, or a musculoskeletal or neurologic source. The duration and persistence of the pain in question also helps urologists determine what might be causing it. If the pain is determined to be inflammatory in nature, treatment might include antibiotics and dietary modifications, whereas musculoskeletal and/or neurologic issues may require orthopedic or neurologic interventions as well as pelvic floor physical therapy. The most important thing to remember is that you don't have to accept and live with chronic pain--at NAU Urology Specialists, we excel at treating complex and chronic conditions like testicular, pelvic, or bladder pain, and we are always happy to offer our patients a second opinion. If you or a loved one are experiencing urologic pain, please give us a call. Check our our award winning podcast! Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men's Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there. In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee explain what the "Mistry Vasectomy" is and why it's the best vasectomy in town. While many urology practices require a consultation appointment before the actual vasectomy procedure, at NAU Urology Specialists, you'll be able to accomplish both on the same day. Dr. Mistry is able to offer what few other providers can because he uses in-office IV sedation, which allows the patient to come in and sign consent paperwork while completely lucid (vs. having to take a sedative prior to arrival) and then be quickly sedated via IV medication. The Mistry Vasectomy is completed using a single incision and dissolvable stitches, so no appointments are necessary to get any stitches out. And finally, at NAU Urology Specialists, once you've received your Mistry Vasectomy, you are entitled to free semen cultures and testing forever! Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men's Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there. In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee explain what a buried penis is as well as answer an interesting listener question! Men who are overweight or obese are the most likely to experience buried penis, a condition where the fatty tissue surrounding the penis effectively "buries" it. While obviously distressing, a buried penis also makes urination extremely difficult and can lead to embarrassing bathroom messes as well as nasty infections. Fortunatley our team at NAU Urology Specialists can perform reconstructive surgeries to fix this issue. We also partner with bariatric surgeons to add weight loss surgery to the package where desired. Our listener asks, "So when I orgasm, I tend to see lights. Sometimes they're flashing like the paparazzi off to the sides. Other times it's like a slow-motion strobe light. It's usually subtle, but they are usually there. Am I living in a movie?" Dr. Mistry explains the various symptoms men can have after orgasm, from the relatively harmless one this listener is experiencing to headaches, nausea, muscle/leg pain, pelvic pain, and others. Of those discussed, nausea tends to be the most difficult to treat because it is often an adverse reaction the body has to the hormonal release that accompanies orgasm. Other symptoms--especially pelvic and leg pain--can often be simply treated with pelvic floor physical therapy. No matter your concern, Dr. Mistry and his team can help!If you liked today's episode, don't forget to like, subscribe, and share us with a friend! In this episode, we look at 3 podcasts I recommend for improving your mental health. Join Tiny Leaps Plus: http://tinyleapsplus.com Part 1: The Problem There are currently over 1 million podcasts out there for you to choose from with over 30 million episodes available. At least those numbers are from April so you can bet there are even more now. So what are we to do?? This week I want to shine a spotlight on podcasts that I think are invaluable when it comes to our mental health. So without further delay let's get into the list. Part 2: Digging Deeper The first show I want to highlight is one you might already be familiar with. It's called Therapy for Black Girls. Now I've got a bit of a confession to make *deep breath* and I'm not sure how to say this so I'm just going to say it....I am not a black girl... I know I know, shocking news. But I've never given this show a chance specifically because of that. I thought "I'm glad this resource exists for black girls and women but based on the name I probably won't get much from it". Girl was I wrong and I'm happy I was. Therapy for Black Girls is hosted by Dr. Joy Harden Bradford who is an actual licensed Psychologist and the podcast covers a number of topics that people of all races genders and ages should be exploring. A recent episode I listened to was on the importance of self-compassion. Dr. Joy covers a lot of other important topics like embracing yourr queer identity, whether or not relationships HAVE to be hard work, Collective Grief, and Loneliness. While the podcast does live up to it's name by providing many excellent episodes specifically targeted to the struggles that are unique to Black women here in the United States, there is plenty to walk away with regardless of who you are or where you are at in your own life. The second podcast I want to recommend is Tori Dealing With...Hosted by Tori Deal who made a name for herself on the reality show The Challenge the podcast shares first hand perspectives on various challenges and issues that every day people face each day. Similar to what I try and do here on Tiny Leaps, Big Changes. Tori talks about dealing with topics like anxiety, change, love, failure, forgiveness, cannibis and really anything else you might be thinking about on a day to day basis. In each episode she shares a story that helped guide her views on the subject, is crystal clear that she is just sharing her own experience rather than trying to push something on you, There is a ton of value in this podcast that you'll be missing out on if you choose to avoid it. Part 3: The Solution So these are the two podcasts I'd recommend looking into for mental health topics. I'd love to hear from you, what podcasts are you listening to that have helped your mental health? Listen to episode 488 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Taking Control of Your Mind & Body | Health Podcasts. Edited and adapted from Youth and Opportunity by Thomas Tapper. Visit today's sponsor Swanson Health at Swanson.com. And use coupon code LIFE20 for 20% off. Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: The truth is that you will succeed in life just as you learn to do your work with mind and body as your two great servants. You must be able to say of yourself, as Jean Jacques Rousseau said of his friend Ignacio de Altuna, "His body was well formed for the residence of his mind." If he want to have a strong body, you must devote your thought to strength. If you want to be rich in material things, you must think and plan and work thoughts of riches. If you want to be of great use in the world, you must direct your thought upon utilitarian activities. Any or all of these conditions will come about if you keep on thinking about them. It sounds easy, does it not? And yet, most people fail to master mind and body, although success depends on this very mastery. Why do they fail? There are certain things about the mind and body which must be understood early in life if we wish to succeed. In the years of childhood and youth, and before we know just what we want to do in the world, mind and body are full of strength and freshness. We use them with little or no thought. We do not realize that they are our servants, and come to believe: "I am a mind and body. What they do, I am." But, in fact, we should believe, "I have a mind and a body. What I do with them, I am."

We want to make health podcasts that are accessible, inclusive, human, conversational, engaging, and break down barriers. How should we do this?
A podcast that promotes conversation about mental health and depression, breaking down the stigma. Some guests choose to not share their name or organization they work for, so they can talk openly and without judgment from others. The show is made up of first responders, doctors, nurses, and people who want a better understanding of what others are doing to break down the stigma in their organization.
