Questions and answers flew fast and furious between the once skeptical reporter and the exotic entity sitting across from him. With each new exchange, they forged a deeper understanding of our species shared history, but—fascinating though the ties that bound us may have been—it would be the revelation of the existence of a group of "others" that filled the room with dread. The reason why? These others were ancient, insidious, and brought with them the unmistakable threat of a reality bending, world shattering, extinction-level event… And what was worse? They're already here. What happens when one of the masterminds behind the Brutality shooting matches decides to go bigger, faster, and nationwide? In today's episode of TFB Behind the Gun, Russell Phagan joins the show to unveil his latest competition project, Fast-Matches.org, a fresh, high-speed take on two-gun and rifle action shooting. Russell walks us through the thinking behind his new match divisions, from the fast and furious two-gun courses to the challenging Rifle Only categories. With matches kicking off this year in three states, and plans to spread across more of the U.S. in 2026, Fast Matches is more than just competition; it's a new way that gun owners can grow the sport and build a stronger, more inclusive shooting community in the most meaningful way possible. In this episode, Peyton shares the full story of her fast and furious second birth experience, which truly was a wild ride from start to finish. As a second-time mom, she expected things might move a little quicker, but nothing could have prepared her for a whirlwind 4.5-hour labor. My friend and filmmaker Sarey Concepción and I got to sit down with Justin Lin — yeah, that Justin Lin, the Fast and Furious guy — but this time he's not racing cars, he's exploring the too-fast-too-furious side of evangelical missions gone to the extreme. His new film Last Days tells the story of John Chau, the young American missionary who was killed trying to bring the gospel to the uncontacted Sentinelese tribe off the coast of India. If you remember, two years ago we screened the documentary about this story at Theology Beer Camp, and this is a totally different angle — a scripted Hollywood film from an outsider to Christianity who read the news story, had the same eye-roll most of us did, and then did what good artists do: made something to understand what he couldn't dismiss. What's remarkable is that Justin took the time to get to know the diversity within evangelicalism, so you get characters ranging from the hardcore adventure missionaries who are basically Carmen San Diego with Bibles, to John's immigrant father wrestling with how his roughest years shaped his son's path, to a parallel storyline with an Indian police officer whose own experience with religion's harm makes her a mirror image of John's conviction. It's a film about faith without being a faith-based film — it doesn't mock John or martyrize him — and it creates this cognitive empathy where you get to sit with the logic that says if people really are going to hell, why wouldn't you risk everything? Sarey and I unpack the father-son dynamics, the theological engine of unreached people groups and unlocking the second coming, those surprisingly sexy Australian missionaries, and why the Voyage of the Dawn Treader might be the most spiritually dangerous book in the Narnia series. We also may have invented the entire backstory of the Presbyterian minister with a Tesla who stole someone's missionary girlfriend, and honestly, Justin should use it for the sequel. You can WATCH the conversation on YouTube Join us at Theology Beer Camp, October 8-10, in Kansas City! UPCOMING ONLINE LENT CLASS: Jesus in Galilee w/ John Dominic Crossan What can we actually know about Jesus of Nazareth? And, what difference does it make? This Lenten class begins where all of Dr. John Dominic Crossan's has work begins: with history. What was actually happening in Galilee in the 20s CE? What did Herod Antipas' transformation of the "Sea of Galilee" into the commercial "Sea of Tiberias" mean for peasant fishing communities? Why did Jesus emerge from John's baptism movement proclaiming God's Rule through parables—and what made that medium so perfectly suited to that message? Only by understanding what Jesus' parables meant then can we wrestle with what they might demand of us now. The class is donation-based, including 0, so join, get info, and join up here. Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! This February we're kicking off our “Fast February” series, where we cover the movies that made Vin Diesel a star and taught the world to live their lives one quarter mile at a time, The Fast & Furious franchise! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and returning guest Bill Mueller discuss the one that started it all, 2001's The Fast and the Furious!Limp Bizkit! Ja Rule! Cheesy lines! Chunky boots that would make Guy Fieri jealous! A fittingly quick and entertaining pace! Recognizable Los Angeles locations! Questionable car talk! Exciting new home video technology! Legally purchased DVD players! Overheated manifolds! Reckless contempt for carpooling! Shockingly organized crowds of young, illegal street racers! A guy playing guitar at a party! Product placement for Pizza Hut, Corona, and most-notably, the nitrous oxide brand NOS! A great high-speed heist to open the movie and plenty of (mostly) real stunts and action! Occasional surreal, anime-influenced racing scenes years before the Speed Racer movie came out! A versatile cast of young actors on the verge of stardom, including Vin Diesel with a rare shred of humility, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez laying the foundation for one of cinema's most iconic female action heroes, and Matt Schulze making the most of his very punchable face! A 2001 time capsule which may have borrowed heavily from Point Break, but still has great chemistry between the two leads with some impressive world building and story mechanics, and would surprisingly go on to become one of the biggest and most influential action franchises in movie history! In addition, Alex shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Spring Breakers, The Beekeeper, Lucio Fulci's dance-themed giallo Murder Rock, and Sam Raimi's return to horror, Send Help! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The Death Don't Do Fiction podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris and Tim Gardiner, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from two filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Twitter, Bluesky, or Letterboxd @actionharris. This episode's guest, Bill Mueller, can be found on Bluesky. Tim can't be found on social media because he doesn't exist. Fast and Furious Franchising charts the transformation of Hollywood through the story of one of its most successful cinematic universes. Released in 2001, The Fast and the Furious became an unexpected hit, developing into a seven-billion-dollar media franchise with nine direct sequels (so far), one “sidequel,” copious spin-offs, and licensing deals from board games to theme park rides. In Fast and Furious Franchising: How the Serialized Blockbuster Remade Hollywood (U Minnesota Press, 2026), Dr. Dan Hassler-Forest shows how Fast and Furious paved the way for a new form of serialized storytelling that balanced new distribution practices and expansion into international markets with a savvy awareness of representational politics. By following the series's development over the past twenty-five years, Fast and Furious Franchising reveals distinct phases that reflect larger media-industrial trends: the postclassical blockbuster era of the early 2000s; the emergence of the megafranchise between 2008 and 2014; the franchise's “imperial” era, from 2015 through 2019; and the postpandemic crisis era of media saturation and franchise fatigue. While examining this rapidly changing media landscape, Dr. Hassler-Forest offers lively, insightful analyses of the films as they have embraced ever-more-ludicrous plots and unlikely character turns while always maintaining their signature faith in the power of family. As he illuminates the role of the Fast and Furious movies in the global entertainment industry, Dr. Hassler-Forest shows how the films' improbable success proves Dominic Toretto's adage that, whether “you win by an inch or a mile . . . winning's winning.” This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Considered by many to be the high point of the Fast and Furious franchise, Tokyo Drift is famous for being the only movie in the series that's actually about the act of street racing, as well as infamous for having a wooden lead and absolutely fucking the timeline up for everyone. Apple's latest project showcase put a surprising headline front and center: a live-action Matchbox movie. Frank breaks down the basics, including Cena playing a CIA agent who pulls his childhood friends into a globe-hopping mission, then explains why Hargrave's action style has him more interested than he expected. He also compares the vibe to the bigger, wilder Fast and Furious era while hoping this one stays gritty and tactile, more in line with Hargrave's work on Extraction and the kind of hard-hitting action Frank loves in Atomic Blonde. The big date to circle: it lands on Apple TV+ on October 9.00:00 Apple TV event highlights and the Matchbox announcement00:13 Plot setup, globe-trotting mission, and the Fast Five era comparison00:29 Why Hargrave's style makes this one worth watching00:42 Action reference points and what Apple seems to be aiming for01:01 Release timing notes and listener reactionsApple's Matchbox movie is positioned as a global action-adventure with a “friends get pulled back in” hook.Cena plays a CIA agent recruiting his childhood crew for a mission that escalates fast.Frank's interest rises mainly because Hargrave tends to make action feel more grounded and physical. The vibe is compared to the bigger, later Fast and Furious style, but with hope for a grittier execution. The current target is an Apple TV+ release on October 9, with theatrical details still unclear in the discussion.“Yes, Matchbox. The toys that when your mom brought them home, you said they ran out of Hot Wheels.”“The premise is Cena's character recruits his childhood friends for a global mission.”“He has a way of making these action movies a little bit more gritty, a little more tactile and real feeling.”“Let me know. Comcast's Parks division crossed $1 billion in quarterly EBITDA for the first time in Q4 2025, driven by a 22 percent increase in parks revenue and a 24 percent increase in EBITDA. Much of the attention went to Epic Universe, but the most striking numbers came from hotels. Universal added 2,000 new rooms in Orlando and still raised average daily rates by 20 percent, with occupancy up 3 percent. That outcome runs counter to basic supply-and-demand logic and signals a shift in how guests are using Universal Orlando.Epic Universe did not do this on its own. The park is not yet operating at full run rate capacity and will not be fully ramped until the end of 2026. The larger story is how Universal has built an ecosystem that encourages guests to stay on property for multiple nights instead of treating Universal as a one-day add-on to a Disney trip. New hotels like Stella Nova, Terra Luna, and Helios Grand extend length of stay and allow Universal to capture dining, merchandise, and incremental park visits at higher margins than gate admission alone. This was always the plan. The difference now is that the plan is visibly working. That success also explains the pace of expansion. Comcast's broader business remains under pressure. Connectivity and Platforms lost 181,000 broadband subscribers in Q4, and the company's overall EBITDA declined. Universal is diversifying quickly because it has to. Universal Kids Resort in Frisco is set to open later this year. The Fast and Furious coaster debuts in Hollywood. Groundbreaking is underway for the U.K. resort. Orlando is entering a digest phase in 2026, focused on extracting value from Epic rather than announcing the next expansion.Moving this fast carries risk. Ride capacity at Epic remains a bottleneck, and infrastructure challenges are already surfacing abroad. According to U.K. reports, local authorities are being asked to accelerate approvals that normally take years, including approvals for sewage capacity for a resort projected to draw millions of visitors. Infrastructure moves at government speed, not corporate speed.Universal's Q4 results make one thing clear. Disney does not have a monopoly on the destination resort flywheel. When guests are given a reason to stay for a week, they will. Adding 2,000 rooms while raising prices by 20 percent is not a lucky quarter. It is confirmation that the model works. The open question is whether Universal can keep scaling as quickly while the rest of Comcast's business continues to weaken.Listen to weekly BONUS episodes on our Patreon.
Interview with Thomas Abraham-James, President & CEO of Pulsar Helium Inc.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/pulsar-helium-tsxvplsr-exceptional-145-concentrations-drive-resource-expansion-program-7877Recording date: 29th January 2026Pulsar Helium is developing the Topaz Project in Minnesota, positioning itself as a potential solution to America's persistent helium supply challenges. Led by President and CEO Thomas Abraham-James, the company has systematically de-risked its primary helium discovery through 2025, setting the stage for a transformative 2026 with multiple value-defining catalysts on the horizon. The United States represents the world's largest helium market yet has experienced persistent shortages over the past 15 years. Unlike most commodities, helium exists primarily as a byproduct of natural gas production, creating significant supply inflexibility. Major producers outside the United States—Qatar, Algeria, and Russia—present both geopolitical risks and logistical challenges, with helium's molecular properties causing product loss during the four-week shipping transit.Pulsar specializes in primary helium resources, where helium exists as the principal gas rather than a byproduct. The Topaz Project has delivered five consecutive successful wells, all intersecting helium-bearing gas zones with concentrations of 8-10%—significantly exceeding the 2% economic threshold. These wells flow naturally to surface without hydraulic fracturing, and approximately 85% of the raw gas stream appears marketable. The October 2025 announcement of helium-3 presence garnered particular market attention. This ultra-rare isotope, valued at $18.5 million per kilogram, is currently being pursued through lunar mining programs funded by the U.S. and Chinese governments. Pulsar's terrestrial alternative offers concentrations comparable to the moon's surface but in gaseous form, making extraction significantly simpler. Helium-3 is critical for quantum computing applications, enabling optimal processing at near-absolute-zero temperatures.Looking ahead, flow testing scheduled for February through May 2026 will provide critical reservoir data, followed by a resource update and the company's first economic study expected mid-2026. Recent warrant exercises and efficient drilling costs have strengthened Pulsar's financial position, providing sufficient capital through these key milestones. Abraham-James characterized the coming six months as "fast and furious" as the company transitions from exploration to engineering-ready status.View Pulsar Helium's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/pulsar-heliumSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
