We chat a lot about sex and dating before and after my double mastectomy and my relationship with my body before and after. 【EP-16】What Exactly Is Mentoring? Do We All Need a Mentor? Ft. Chew Chie Yeoh Host: Amy Tang Have you ever felt stuck/lost at work or in life? You know you have to seek help, but you decided to just suck it up because deep down, you believe there's always a catch. No one helps just for the sake of being helpful. It ended up taking so long to figure things all out, and you felt like you were falling behind… If it sounds familiar, a mentorship might be what you're looking for. In this episode, we have the opportunity to hear from Chew Chie Yeoh, a born and raised Malaysian currently based in Taiwan. She talks about how she, as an introvert, decided to step out of her comfort zone to join a public-speaking community in a foreign country, and achieve exponential growth through mentoring. From her story, we get to explore the key differences between coaching and mentoring, whether mentoring is for everyone, and most importantly, how to take that first step to finding a mentor. 留言告訴我你對這一集的想法: https://open.firstory.me/user/cksn5rmxfwama0916fqeq57qg/comments Powered by Firstory Hosting

Want to be more confident? Maybe you need to practice more. That's the philosophy of author, TedX speaker, podcast and TV host Amy Schmidt. Amy's "why not me and why not now" philosophy has made her an expert in mid-life reinvention. Amy co-hosts the Better Than Gossip podcast and streaming TV show. The show's tagline, ageless advice for timeless women, promotes the idea that most problems are solvable with help and empathy from friends. She says she's noticed many people complaining about a loss of confidence after everything we've been through in the last few years. Her advice? Recruit a good friend/ accountability partner and ask them a simple question: "what am I good at?" "When you really dig into that conversation with someone you really trust that accountability partner and they say, 'you know what, I admire your confidence around public speaking. I love the way you can just, you know, go to a PTA meeting, and you can stand up and take charge. Or, I love the way when you walk into a yoga class, you kind of are this light.' You find out these things about yourself and you're like, 'wow I should do more of that.' That is the stepping stone to building more confidence." Biden administration is teasing a new round of student debt cancellation and relief. The Education department said on Tuesday that this could mean debt cancellation for about 40,000 borrowers and three years of additional credit for more than 3.6 million borrowers seeking income-driven repayment. That could add another boost to the economy and the long-term well-being of tens of thousands of Americans. Bankrate study. The woman behind the “Libs of TikTok” Twitter account has been outed in new reporting by Taylor Lorenz in the Washington Post. Lorenz reports that Chaya Raichik, a real estate salesperson in Brooklyn, is behind the account which has spread “groomer” conspiracy theories on social media and has the ears of right-wing lawmakers such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Jeffrey Yass, the head of Susquehanna International Group, and the deep-pocketed right-wing political funder is officially the richest man in Pennsylvania, according to a new analysis by ProPublica. He has collected an average of $1.3 billion a year in annual income from 2013 - 2018. Only five other Americans earned more. This morning the New York Times released a report that reviewed 21 of Florida's rejected math books. Florida's Dept. of Education reported that the rejected books contained “prohibited topics” such as critical race theory and social emotional learning. Only four pages were released by the Dept as examples; one contained a problem set that used statistical data from the Race Implicit Association Test. Court challenges were filed by a Lycoming County resident calling for the removal of Doug Mastriano and Scott Perry from ballots for next month's primary because of their participation in the January 6th Capitol insurrection. Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) is looking to sell off two of the luxury dorms at Edinboro University that were completed just 10 years ago and featured quite prominently in my early reporting at Raging Chicken. “Wall Street on the Susquehanna: PASSHE Bond Scheme Bleeds Education Budget for Beautiful Buildings” Palisades made headlines again! The Herald ran a piece last week about Palisades reconsidering a live streaming option for school board meetings! The option to live stream meetings would cover both regular bi-monthly board meetings as well as committee meetings. And Amy was doing some phone backing last night for Alexandra Hunt. I'm a big fan of Amy Westervelt's Drilled podcast. If you're not familiar, it is a Climate podcast but done like a Netflix series with each episode leading to the next one, so it tells a narrative over a number of episodes, and then it starts a new series, with a new story to tell. Really compelling!Imagine my excitement when I heard that Amy is starting a new podcast called Damages following the increasing number of climate cases that are popping up, and telling their stories - Law and Order meets Climate!I had to know more, so I invited Amy to come on the podcast. We had a fascinating conversation covering the Drilled and Damages podcasts, the recent uptick in the number of climate cases being taken, and some of the more interesting cases Amy has come across. This was an excellent episode of the podcast and I learned loads as always, and I hope you do too.If you have any comments/suggestions or questions for the podcast - feel free to leave me a voice message over on my SpeakPipe page, head on over to the Climate 21 Podcast Forum, or just send it to me as a direct message on Twitter/LinkedIn. Today I welcome Amy Knecht as our guest co-host for this weeks Friday Politics Roundup. For the bulk of today's show, Amy and I will be talking about right-wing organizing in Bucks County, PA. In particular, we'll be focusing on Andy Meehan's organization, Right for Bucks. Meehan has built a well-organized, well-funded, and growing organization bent on taking control of the Bucks County Republican Party with a far-right "America First" agenda. In the lead up to the 2022 midterm elections and emboldened by the raging culture war battles in local, regional, and national school boards, Right for Bucks is front and center in the “America First,” election conspiracy, Trump cult. But, you're going to be surprised at what it's like inside Right for Bucks organizing meetings. How do we know? Well, this week Amy attended a public Right-for-Bucks Zoom event. She's going to take us inside that meeting and let us all know why we have our work cut out for us. Before we get there a few headlines: It's official, more than 900,000 people have died of COVID in the United States. 100,000 people have died since December 13, 2021. And, as expected, the highest death rates are occuring in states with lower vaccination rates and minimal COVID mitigation efforts. Pennsylvania has the 5th highest death rate, according to an NBC News analysis. The United States turns to assassination again in it's never-ending war on terror. Biden announced yesterday that a US raid on Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi's home, led to his death. Early reports say that at least 13 people, including six children and four women were also killed. A new study shows that as of 2015 the world's richest 10% now account for nearly half of all global carbon emissions - up 15% from the previous study released in 2010. According to the study's author Aimee Ambrose, “In many ways, the rich are being largely insulated from the spike in energy costs. But addressing excessive personal consumption is something that isn't on the agenda for the government and policymakers. This is bad news for the planet and our prospects of reaching net zero.” Staff at an elite Democratic consulting firm, Inside Authentic, are in revolt over being asked to work on Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's projects. One staffer told Politico, “I'm doing the Devil's work.” The unionized staffers are pushing back. Taylor Billings, organizing director of the Campaign Workers Guild told Politico, “The Authentic Union views Sen. Sinema's recent actions to block voting rights legislation as an affront to their company's values, which they're proud of and committed to upholding.” Valerie Arkoosh drops out of the PA Senate race. Pennsylvania ranks in the bottom half of states for gender representation in politics. The state has never elected a female U.S. senator or governor. There are four women, all Democrats, in a congressional delegation of 18 — up from zero women before the 2018 elections. The state legislature is about 26% female. Yet another no-knock warrant leads to the killing of black man by police. Minnesota police killed Amir Locke who was not named in any police warrant, but was in legal protection of a handgun. Locke was asleep at the time he was woken up by police and killed. Facebook loses users for the first time in its 18 year history. Over 500,000 users left the platform over the past 3 months. While King Zuckerberg says it's because of competition and a new focus on the Metaverse virtual world project, others suggest it might have something to do with recent revelations from whistleblowers about Facebooks abusive practices and violations of privacy. And, NASA announced that it will crash the International Space Station into the Pacific Ocean in 2031, bring to an end one of the most successful orbital scientific research endeavors in history. As expected, NASA will turn over space to the galactic capitalists for future orbital science. Hey, gotta clear the way for privatization of space before the Artemis missions to the Moon, right?
I'm on a mission to simplify my life and streamline my systems AND to teach gt my kids on board with the systems also. This frees me up to focus on what really matters - the hearts and minds of my children. Having the kids participate in the home systems grows their character and gives them a framework for living a self-disciplined, productive life. In episode 124, you'll learn about several of my systems to make life simpler for busy households. And I am so thankful that Amy Roberts from Raising Arrows joined us in this episode as our guest host!Quotes:"These systems increase simplicity and they also increase self-discipline in our kids." 'Why am I talking about our kids' internet usage in a time-saving strategies podcast? It's because having a family internet agreement saves us so much time in multiple ways. Such as, I don't have to wrestle with myself about what my rules are going to be today with the kids regarding internet. Otherwise, if I didn't have a clear plan for internet usage in our home, then on days when I was tired or sick or overwhelmed, then I would be very tempted to be very lax on those rules. And that's when things end up happening is when we're distracted as parents."Resources Mentioned (some are affiliate links):Internet Usage AgreementNet Nanny Filtering service, Covenant Eyes accountability serviceSimple Systems for Homeschool SuccessBlog post about my sticky note system with three Brain Books.Blog post about Save Your Sanity- one hour a week meal prep.Raising a Luke 2:52 ChildWhen Littles are Loud: Maximizing the Moments without Drowning in ChaosWhen Little are Loud, blog post part 1The Tech Wise Family by Andy CrouchMeet our guest host, Amy Roberts of Raising Arrows:Blog - https://www.raisingarrows.net Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/RaisingArrows YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/AmyRaisingArrows Podcast - https://raisingarrows.net/podcasts/Amy Roberts of RaisingArrows.net is a Christ-follower, devoted wife, homeschooling mother of 10, blogger, podcaster, conference speaker, and author. We compare the new Dark Chocolate Oreo to the other Chocolate Oreo varieties. She's finally here!! And yes, she is a she! Ahhhhh! This is such a special episode. Listen as my husband Bryan and I share the birth story of our baby girl Mylo. For those of you who have been listening to the Podcast, you know that I had been recording new Podcast Episodes up until the very last weeks of pregnancy. It felt like this baby would never come! But she finally did, and what an entrance she made! ------ Listen as I talk about nearly missing my epidural window, heading to the hospital in the middle of shift change, and pulling out my baby girl Kourtney Kardashian style. Mylo's birth was anything but ordinary, and showed me the POWER of Motherhood once again. I bet you will be instantly brought back to your own birth story as you start listening, aka the day life changed forever.
Amy S Killingsworth founded and co-produces Amy & Gary's House Concerts of San Antonio Texas. I'm fascinated with house concerts as of late, and this conversation was an opportunity to get the host perspective. Amy and Gary hosted their first show in April of 2016. Their 25th house concert will happen in July of 2018. Amy's added street cred comes from former Unstarving Musician's Podcast guests Ray Prim and Tom Meny. They both think she's all that and a bag of chips. I'm often a little anxious about interviews that are not with music artists, but Amy was fun and easy to talk to. It turns out that Amy was a bit nervous too, but tells me she decided to embrace the new and do the interview. Lucky me. She was a wealth of information on hosting house concerts. Our conversation also covers the artist and fan perspective. Here are a few topic highlights. Challenges of Hosting House Concerts Amy says that one of the biggest is getting people to come. She sees no-shows as money out of the artist's pocket. The thing is that Amy really cares for the artists. She loves the live music, but she really cares about the welfare of music artists. "We're a listening room.” "We're a listening room,” Amy says of her home and house concert venue. Being attentive is a show of respect to the musicians, she adds. Apparently her audiences are well trained. Amy shared with me that she's only ever had to shush one person, her husband and co-producer Gary. She went on to say that the Dripping Springs Songwriter Festival has volunteers that use hand fans to remind attendees that theirs is a listening venue. Personally, I think this method would work well for any house concert host. Advice to Aspiring House Concert Hosts Don't be intimidated, just do it. That's Amy's top recommendation. "You're there to help the artists make money... so just lean in to it–enjoy it," she says. Amy also recommends attending house concerts produced by different hosts. Ask for advice, borrow the things you like and use them. This is exactly what Amy has done. A tip she shared from another house concert host is to keep a guest registration list for each show. Amy uses this list to nurture her community with little things like sending thank you emails and sharing insider artist information. This next one isn't so much a tip as it is an example of how Amy goes the extra steps. She uses a birdcage (nice touch!) to collect donations for the performing artists. She also reminded me that using the words "Suggested Donation" and "Private House Concert" are important. Tom Meny talks about this in his interview for this podcast, and Shannon Curtis discusses it at length in her book. Pardon the Interruption: The book listed below contains an affiliate link. If you purchase using these links, I'll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support! No Booker, No Bouncer, No Bartender: How I Made $25K On A 2-Month House Concert Tour (And How You Can Too), by Shannon Curtis Amy loves to shoot live streaming video, as they're a great way to market her private house concerts. Another pro tip she offers, however, is to always ask for artist permission before shooting video of their performance. Not all artists are keen on it. Advice to Artists Interested in Performing House Concerts Amy receives an average of five to ten emails per week from artists expressing interest in performing for Amy & Gary's House Concerts. Doing only twelve or so shows in a given year makes it tough to choose artists. As a way of giving back, Amy helps artists book gigs at other venues when she can't book them for her own shows. Amy looks for a good house concert performance video when choosing artists. It's important to note that she and other house concert hosts prefer to see live performance videos. Also important to note is that the video doesn't need to be of the highest production quality; but the video sound quality does need to be good. Staged videos are fine, according to Amy, as long as it's live in front of a live audience. She says that artists should invest as much as they can to have one of their house concert show recorded on video. This is your artist calling card to house concert hosts. This is one of the things that will get you house concert gigs. Artists should understand that it's tough to have full bands at a house concert. Percussion instruments such as a cajón are doable, but a drum kit is typically not practical. Artists should present their gear list to hosts. Lastly and very important, Amy says "persistence and nice.” She offers an example in Brian Pounds who at one time sent weekly personalized emails. She's booked him three times at other house concert venues. The added lesson here is artists should network with house concert hosts. Yes, you saw that right Packing Peanuts. And yes, we ate them. Some of us ate more than others. Bryan reads us the foods in Buzzfeed's "16 Really Weird Versions of Food That Make You Say Gross or Yum" and we give our "yay" or "nay'. Then we see what "treats" Danny brought Bryan and Host Amy from his Caribbean Cruise - Teriyaki Chicken Crackers, Ham & Cheese Corn Snacks, Baconette Strips, Sweet Chili Fish Crackers, and Choco-Filled Crackers. We close with a review of new flavors of Rice Krispie Treats that we compare to the tried and true original and double chocolatey chunk flavors. Note: we are going on an excursion! We mention it at the end of the show, and here is the FB event link.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk away from the daily grind and move to a beautiful, remote place where you could take a beat and get back in touch with what’s really important? That’s exactly what 38-year-old Amy Jo Martin did. For her 20s and early 30s, Amy lived in the fast lane. She worked for the Phoenix Suns and then founded a company aimed at helping corporations, celebrities and sports entities humanize their brands through social streams. With a following of more than a million people, Amy is an expert in the field of social media; she was named the 3rd most powerful woman on Twitter by Forbes. But by 2015, Amy was burnt out. She exited her company and moved to the black hills of South Dakota, founding her podcast, Why Not Now? On the show, she interviews people who have made life altering decisions—from Tony Robbins to Jessica Alba—focusing on the moment an idea turned into action. Hear how Amy learned to "get aligned" with her true purpose, how she learned to manage "FOMO" and how she feels that today she is the most productive she's ever been. (Oh yeah, she got married, too!)
This week we discuss so many things. 1) A Portillos outing (without Host Amy :-( ) 2) Blizzard new (the February Blizzard of the Month (BOM), SuperBowl Blizzards, Blizzard fails, making your own Blizzards, and McFlurries) 3) Spicy Skittles 4) Pringles again 5) Milkshake Pop Tarts 6) King Cakes Along the way, Danny realizes why we have an Explicit rating, we question if Danny really is Bryan's food soulmate, and talk about pineapple on pizza.
