Kicking things off, we have our routine Get-To-Know-You questions. Then with a Fantastic recent visit to see Sean's Awesome Collection in person; we highlight a few things to chat towards; including the very controversial & quickly banned Jarts Toy from the early 1960's. Then we get into a discussion about Batman. Everything from Batman 66' & why that particular TV Run is so special to Sean. Highlights about the Batmobile & it's Origins; all the way covering the dynamic characters in the Show! We next pivot across to the Ground-Breaking Toy-line that was Kenner Super Powers. Then backing up that Super Powers discussion; we entertain another segment of The Team! This round focusing purely on the Heroes from the Kenner Super Powers Run! (with a purpose adjustment to the line-up, so that some certain characters don't get all the Votes!) - Who would you have picked?? Enjoy this fun filled ep! “The Agency” approaches espionage less as a series of action beats and more as a study in information, perception, and control. The show is at its absolute best when it leans into that tension, allowing seemingly ordinary conversations to simmer with unease while drawing on its wealth of densely fleshed-out characters, each carrying their own agendas, vulnerabilities, and secrets. Conversations are rarely straightforward, motives are constantly in question, and even routine interactions can reshape the balance of power inside the CIA. In Season 2, the Paramount+ with Showtime drama deepens those tensions, following agents and analysts as personal loyalties, institutional pressures, and a growing sense of distrust begin to collide. But this time around the action and pacing is increasing by the second.Based on the acclaimed French series “Le Bureau des Légendes,” “The Agency” follows Michael Fassbender as Martian, a CIA agent whose personal and professional lives continue to collapse into one another. Season 2 picks up with Martian still trying to save Samia, played by Jodie Turner-Smith, while the agency itself is pulled into a wider web of internal suspicion, shifting loyalties, and a mole hunt that turns the office into its own kind of battlefield.READ MORE: ‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed': Tatiana Maslany, Jake Johnson, David Gordon Green & David Rosen On Lonely Screens, Bad Decisions, ‘She-Hulk,' ‘Spider-Verse' & More [Bingeworthy Podcast]The series also stars Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Dominic West, and more. And truly, one of the joys of Season 2 is watching a cast this deep make even the smallest exchanges feel like fully loaded scenes. Wright, who plays Henry Ogletree, and Magaro, who plays Owen Taylor, both spoke with Bingeworthy host Mike DeAngelo about the new season, the ensemble's unusual chemistry, and what it takes to make all that spy-world jargon feel lived-in rather than laminated.

This week on Scarred For Life, Andy Bush and Dave Lawrence welcome back writer, producer, former child actor, and all-round opinion-holder Gary Russell for a deep dive into one of science fiction's most enduring fascinations: alternative universes. From evil doppelgängers and fascist Earths to Mirror Universes, multiverses and "what if?" storytelling, Gary traces his lifelong love of parallel realities back to childhood encounters with Lost in Space, Doctor Who's legendary Inferno, and classic Star Trek. Along the way, the team explore why alternative realities continue to capture our imagination, how they allow writers to twist familiar characters into unexpected shapes, and whether the concept still has a place in modern storytelling.Expect passionate discussion of Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation, Marvel's What If...?, Batman's Elseworlds adventures, Spider-Verse, and much more. Plus: Gary's obsession with the London Underground, a spirited defence of maps, and the revelation that somewhere in the multiverse there may be a version of him who actually likes Star Trek: Enterprise. To join Scarred Club and get fortnightly bonus episodes, ad-free listening and access to the members forum - sign-up here - https://scarredforlife.supportingcast.fm/Send us a voice note on WhatsApp - 07457 404 279Follow us on socials:Scarred For Life - Facebook / InstagramProduction Company - Lock It In StudioAndy Bush - Twitter / Instagram Hosted on Acast. This week on Fantastic Forum, we are diving into two iconic heroes reimagined for a new era of fantasy and noir storytelling. First up is Masters of the Universe, the highly anticipated live action adaptation bringing Eternia back to the big screen. With Nicholas Galitzine starring as He-Man alongside Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto as Skeletor, the film aims to reintroduce the legendary battle between good and evil with massive action, mythology, and cosmic fantasy. We are breaking down the cast, the world building, and whether this new take can finally deliver the definitive Masters of the Universe movie fans have been waiting for. Then we turn to Spider-Noir on Amazon Prime, starring Nicolas Cage as an aging private investigator version of Spider-Man navigating a dark and dangerous 1930s New York City. Inspired by the Marvel Noir comics, the series blends superhero storytelling with hard-boiled detective fiction, shadowy conspiracies, and stylized pulp action. With Cage stepping back into the role after Into the Spider-Verse, we are discussing whether this noir-driven take on Spider-Man stands out as one of Marvel's most unique live action projects yet. Cinematographers Darren Tiernan, ISC and Peter Deming, ASC are the DPs of Spider Noir, the new MGM Plus and Amazon Prime series starring Nicolas Cage as the hard-boiled 1930s New York detective version of Spider-Man. The character is based on Marvel Comics featuring Spiderman Noir, and first introduced in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Tiernan and Deming created a series that looks like a classic film noir using vintage lights, custom LUTs and a “noir vocabulary.” We dive into: -How the production created a dual release simultaneously in both black and white and color. -Lead DP Darran Tiernan worked for months on LUT development and a workflow that kept every department aligned on both versions from day one. Monitors on set showed what the scenes would look like in black and white. -Why both Darren and Peter used old tungsten lights with Fresnel lenses instead of LEDs whenever possible. Not out of nostalgia, but out of necessity for getting the hard light that defines film noir. -How rigorous preparation, from shot decks before the first meeting to photo boards and green screens on location, allowed creative freedom to take risks in the moment when the cameras were rolling. -Why the goal was never to recreate classic noir but to absorb its philosophy of shadow, composition and expressionistic light and apply it to this specific story. That distinction is what makes Spider Noir feel fresh rather than like a period piece. Anthony provides insight from the perspective of a longtime Spider-Noir comic reader, while Chris poses a great question: if Nicolas Cage hadn't originally voiced Spider-Noir in Into the Spider-Verse, would he have even been considered for the role? The entire panel agrees that Cage delivered an incredible performance and left nothing on the table. Spider-Noir Editors – Jennifer Barbot, ACE; Tirsa Hackshaw, ACE; Eric Kissack, ACE and Geraud Brisson, ACE Although the editors of Spider-Noir may have all arrived at the series through different paths, they quickly found themselves working toward the same goal: shaping a superhero story that functions first and foremost as a noir detective tale. For Jennifer Barbot, Tirsa Hackshaw, Eric Kissack, and Geraud Brisson, that meant balancing 1930s atmosphere, modern pacing, dry comedy, stylized action, and the very particular energy of a Nicolas Cage performance. Created by Oren Uziel for MGM+ and Prime Video, Spider-Noir stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is pulled back into his former life as the city's only superhero, The Spider. The series also stars Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson, and is presented in both "Authentic Black and White" and "True-Hue Full Color" versions. For the editors, that dual-format release created one of the show's most interesting creative and technical challenges. The editors primarily cut in black and white, leaning into the shadows, contrast and classic noir language of the series, while visual effects reviews often revealed the same scenes in color. The result was a show that could feel emotionally different depending on which version was being watched, even when the underlying performance, rhythm and story remained the same. JENNIFER BARBOT, ACE Jennifer Barbot is an editor whose credits include Your Honor, Raised by Wolves, The Man in the High Castle, Jessica Jones and Dope Thief. On Spider-Noir, Jennifer was drawn to the show's mix of noir style, superhero mythology and emotional character work, as well as the opportunity to help establish the tone of a world that had to feel both period-inspired and contemporary. TIRSA HACKSHAW, ACE Tirsa Hackshaw, ACE has worked across a wide range of television and film projects, including One Piece, Kung Fu, Jupiter's Legacy, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and The Punisher. Having previously worked with Steve Lightfoot on Marvel's The Punisher, Tirsa came to Spider-Noir with both a love of the noir genre and a deep appreciation for the Spider-Verse, making the show a natural fit for her interests as an editor. ERIC KISSACK, ACE Eric Kissack, ACE is an editor and director whose work includes The Good Place, Veep, Black Monday, Rutherford Falls, Pam & Tommy and The Studio. He has also edited feature comedies such as Role Models, Brüno, Cedar Rapids, The Dictator, Horrible Bosses 2, Daddy's Home, Instant Family, Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar and Bottoms. On Spider-Noir, Eric was especially interested in the show's dry, organic comedy and in finding a rhythm that allowed the humor to breathe without undercutting the detective story. GERAUD BRISSON, ACE Geraud Brisson, ACE is a French-American film and television editor whose credits include CODA, The OA, Counterpart, This Close, Shantaram and Lessons in Chemistry. Having previously worked with Steve Lightfoot on Shantaram, Geraud was excited by the chance to explore a superhero-oriented story through the lens of noir. His work on Spider-Noir included sequences that blended action, subjective sound, visual effects and classic film references into the show's distinctive style.   Visit ExtremeMusic for all your production audio needs Hear Eric discuss his work on THE STUDIO Listen to Geraud discuss cutting Best Picture Oscar-winner CODA Subscribe to The Rough Cut podcast and never miss an episode Visit The Rough Cut on YouTube

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse changed superhero storytelling forever. Years later, revisiting this movie before the premiere of Spider-Man Noir, it somehow hit even harder. From Miles Morales becoming Spider-Man, to Peter B. Parker's painfully human portrayal of depression, failure, and perseverance, this movie still feels revolutionary. In this episode of Marvel Maniac, we dive into:• Why Spider-Verse was a huge risk in 2018• Peter B. Parker as one of the most relatable Spider-Men ever• Miles Morales and the emotional core of the film• Canon events, incursions, and surprising Multiverse Saga parallels• Spider-Man Noir, Ben Reilly, and why the upcoming series has me excited Plus, I reflect on seeing this movie during a difficult chapter of my life — broke, uncertain, and not realizing this film would stay with me for years. Because maybe Spider-Man matters so much to people not because he's perfect… but because he keeps getting back up. Join the Discord below and send your thoughts to: MarvelManiacPod@gmail.com
