Organizations are demanding more from their IT management platforms—not just toolsets, but tailored systems that meet specific business and security objectives. Vivin Sathyan, Senior Technology Evangelist at ManageEngine, shares how the company is responding with an integrated approach that connects IT, security, and business outcomes.ManageEngine, a division of Zoho Corporation, now offers a suite of over 60 products that span identity and access management, SIEM, endpoint protection, service management, and analytics. These components don't just coexist—they interact contextually. Vivin outlines a real-world example from the healthcare sector, where a SIM tool detects abnormal login behavior, triggers an identity system to challenge access, and then logs the incident for IT service resolution. This integrated chain reflects a philosophy where response is not just fast, but connected and accountable. At the heart of the platform's effectiveness is contextual intelligence—layered between artificial intelligence and business insights—to power decision-making that aligns with enterprise risk and compliance needs. Whether it's SOC analysts triaging events, CIS admins handling system hygiene, or CISOs aligning actions with corporate goals, the tools are tailored to fit roles, not just generic functions. According to Vivin, this role-based approach is critical to eliminating silos and ensuring teams speak the same operational and risk language.AI continues to play a role in enhancing that coordination, but ManageEngine is cautious not to follow hype for its own sake. The company has invested in its own AI and ML capabilities since 2012, and recently launched an agent studio—but only after evaluating how new models can meaningfully add value. Vivin points out that enterprise use cases often benefit more from small, purpose-built language models than from massive general-purpose ones.Perhaps most compelling is ManageEngine's global-first strategy. With operations in nearly 190 countries and 18+ of its own data centers, the company prioritizes proximity to customers—not just for technical support, but for cultural understanding and local compliance. That closeness informs both product design and customer trust, especially as regulations around data sovereignty intensify. This episode challenges listeners to consider whether their tools are merely present—or actually connected. MCALLEN, Texas - Various economic development organizations from across the Rio Grande Valley recently made a pitch to three investors from India. McAllen Economic Development Corporation had an advantage: it could point to a successful collaboration with an Indian firm. McAllen EDC Vice President Ralph Garcia told the story of how Zoho, a billion-dollar tech company, was recruited to his city. “They're a tech company out of India, a billion-dollar business,” Garcia said of Zoho. “They don't need to be asking for support. But what we did with them was very unique.” Garcia explained. “In visiting with them the challenge they were having (is that) they had purchased a site in Austin and were trying to launch that project there. They were having a lot of trouble, especially with recruitment competing with Tesla, Dell, and others, not being able to find that labor pool of people. “So, they expanded that search and when they did that, they started noticing a lot of people coming from the Rio Grande Valley. Rather than uproot those folks, bring them to Austin and have them go into an economy that's already challenged with costs, they chose to come here instead.” Garcia said that was when McAllen “got creative” with Zoho. “We incubated them the first year in McAllen at no cost to them. We put them in a facility, set them up and they started recruiting and hiring people. Today, they have about 60 employees,” Garcia said, “They're still being incubated. But they're actually purchasing a piece of land here in the city where they're going to build a technology campus. And for us, that's exciting.” But, said Garcia, it took effort on MEDC's part to make Zoho feel at home. “It took effort on our part also to understand that it wasn't just getting the big fish here. It was helping them find a way to be successful in the community. And that was really important to them. They see that relationship. They like the Valley. They like working with the other communities in this room. So, there's there's been some good opportunity that's developed with that.” Garcia made MEDC's pitch at an event hosted by the Council for South Texas Economic Progress. COSTEP brought three Indian investors to the Valley, with a morning gathering at the Port of Brownsville and an afternoon gathering at Casa de Palmas in McAllen.Editor's Note: Go to the Rio Grande Guardian to read the full story. To read the new stories and watch the news videos of the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service go to www.riograndeguardian.com.

MCALLEN, Texas - Francisco J. Peña-Valdés is an attorney with Cacheaux Cavazos & Newton, a company that has, for over 25 years, provided integrated legal services to international businesses. In an in-depth audio and video interview with the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service, Peña-Valdés discussed the work of Cacheaux Cavazos & Newton, the other international trader associations he is involved in, the history of near-shoring, and his projections for the Rio Grande Valley. On the subject of near-shoring, Peña-Valdés said that, for him, near-shoring started when Trump administration started hitting China with higher tariffs and taxes. He said a client from California would call him and say, “oh, we're going to expand our facility. But instead of sending it to China, we're going to open a plant over there in Monterey or Reynosa or Matamoros, or another city in Mexico. So, I think Trump began the cascade and everything after that began moving very, very fast.”Another reason for the surge in near-shoring, Peña-Valdés explained, was USMCA and a provision in the treaty that required a higher percentage of the parts used to assemble an automobile be sourced from North America. “We were sourcing a lot of products from China, aluminum, steel, electronics and whatnot,” Peña-Valdés. “And then the CHIPS Act came in and said, based on national security, chips must be manufactured in the U.S.”Asked if the Rio Grande Valley might benefit from this legislation by landing a chip manufacturing plant, Peña-Valdés responded that Indian software developer Zoho is already here.“It's a good thing that Zoho is coming this way. Not only because they are going to provide good employment. It is going to provide a different vibe for the area,” Peña-Valdés said.“By bringing these type of companies (to the Valley), they are going to set a precedent. Other companies, smaller companies, are going to look at us here in the RGV and say, I'm not even going to do due diligence. Because Zoho, a very important company, is setting up here, they are going to say, they already did their due diligence, so let's go. We are going to start landing companies here. We're going to start seeing more and more in that area. That's my take on that.”A trend that is already happening, Peña-Valdés said, is the arrival of even more Chinese manufacturing firms in the Monterrey area.  “They already have one specific industrial park just for Chinese companies outside Monterrey, going, like, north west of Monterey. Big Chinese companies are settling in Monterey. So other Chinese companies, of smaller capacity, they're not even doing their due diligence. They are just going in there because this bigger company is already doing it.”Here is an audio recording of the interview the Guardian conducted with Peña-Valdés. It is the first in a three-part series. To read the new stories and watch the news videos of the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service go to www.riograndeguardian.com.

Pravin believes in the power of cross-product partnerships. Partnerships in a multi-product landscape come with intriguing challenges. It's vital, then, to foster alliances with competitors while also competing against them. There are common obstacles that many will worry about, like the fear of cannibalizing customers, legal complexities, and hesitations from both internal and external stakeholders. Zoho tackles these challenges head-on, utilizing leadership commitments, collaboration mindsets and targeted processes. Zoho's secret recipe for success is the “compete yet collaborate” mindset, championed at every level of the company. The team's underlying strategy is based on showcasing partner products to customers, thereby promoting mutual growth. Building strategic partnerships with larger companies requires a long-term perspective. MCALLEN, Texas - McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos points out that if Zoho Corporation were to build its 90-acre campus in north of the city, it could benefit Edinburg CISD.Many environmentalists said the campus should not be built on Green Jay Park in south McAllen because of its unique habitat. But if it were put in north McAllen instead, Mayor Villalobos warned, millions of dollars of property taxes would go to Edinburg's school district, not McAllen's.“Well, if so goes to the north, guess what district is gonna get a benefit? North of Freddy Gonzales is not McAllen ISD. Your kids, your educators will not receive the benefit of millions and millions of tax dollars. If it goes north of Freddie Gonzalez, Edinburg Independent School District receives the benefit of what Zoho is trying to do here,” Villalobos said.Villalobos made his comments in wrap-up remarks at the end of a vote by McAllen city commissioners to rezone Green Jay Park. MCALLEN, Texas - Environmentalist Geoffrey Alger would have liked to have had as big an opportunity to discuss the rezoning of Green Jay Park with McAllen city commissioners as Zoho Corporation did“I wish I could take you guys out to dinner like you went out with Zoho,” Alger said, during a debate at McAllen City Hall. Following more than two hours of debate McAllen city commissioners voted to rezone Green Jay Park, moving it from “agricultural-open space” to “light industrial.” The reclassification is likely to allow tech giants Zoho to build a 90-acre campus on the park. Alger lives close to Green Jay Park and knows it well. He says his research shows it goes back millennia. “The connection to McAllen itself goes back to early 20th Century when McAllen was first founded. Our founders were going out to Lake Concepcion for religious gatherings, for social gatherings, for picnics, for swimming, for all kinds of things. And that continued on through the mid-20th Century, until it went into private hands,” Alger said.“In 1968, the City of McAllen bought 238 acres for the Palm View Golf Course, for public purposes. That existed until 1995 when Ware Road cut through and went to Military Highway.”Alger said Green Jay Park “went into limbo” until 2015. “For ten years, I personally was working, pushing to make that property into a park because I was so familiar with that property. I knew it had a lake on it. I know it has rolling hills. I know it has lots of trees. And it's a completely unique piece of property in the city of McAllen. There's nothing else like it. That's why Zoho wants it. You want to turn a public accessible park that has a tradition of public service for recreation and you want to give it to a company, a private company that's going to turn it into a private park for their private consumption. And that's ridiculous.”Here are Alger's remarks in full, along with those of two others opposed to Green Jay Park being rezoned. To read the new stories and watch the news videos of the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service go to www.riograndeguardian.com.

This week in Indian Startup News, Unacademy's Big Restructure - No Free Meals, Salary Cuts, Ola Electric unveils First Indigenously Developed Li-ion Cell, Fraazo Lays Off Over 150 Employees. In Founder Spotlight, we have the founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation, Sridhar Vembu - who recently questioned the entire significance of VC culture in the Indian startups ecosystem and why it's not healthy. In Funding news we have, Onecard, Vegrow, Detect Technologies and 10 other Indian startups raise more than $1 Million. Unacademy's Big Restructure: Ed-tech unicorn Unacademy seems to be going through a major overhaul; company has recently shut down their test preparation platform in the US and now it is taking tough decisions like pay cuts for leadership and reduced employee benefits and perks. CEO Gaurav Munjal announced measures like no complementary food in the office, no business class travel for anyone, no dedicated drivers for CxOs and salary cuts for founders and management. Founder Spotlight - Sridhar Vembu: This week for the founder's spotlight we have Sridhar Vembu, who is the founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation. And the reason we have Sridhar this week is because of a speech he recently gave in a regional conference in Bengaluru and which has started a debate on the entire significance of VC culture in the Indian startups ecosystem. He himself has bootstrapped his company for the last 21 years and may be the biggest reason is that he doesn't want VC to come and dictate what steps the company should take. Funding this week: This week saw at least 13 Indian startups raising more than $242.5 Million. Fintech Sector - Onecard raised $100 Million AI startups - Detect Technologies raised $28 Million Agritech startups - Vegrow raised $25 Mn Supply Chain & Logistics - Wheelocity raised $12 Million Ola Electric unveils First Indigenously Developed Li-ion Cell: Bhavish Aggarwal led Ola Electric has unveiled their first ever Made-in-India Lithium-ion cell. Company has said that this cell will be in heart of their EV goals going ahead and they will start it's mass production from 2023, in their upcoming Gigafactory. This is really important for Ola Electric to manufacture battery cells in house as it will give them more control over the quality. We had earlier seen multiple cases of Ola and other EV scooters catching fire and one major reason was the battery management issues. Fraazo Lays Off Over 150 Employees: Another startup announcing layoffs, and this time it is Mumbai-based fresh vegetables delivery startup Fraazo, which has laid off at least 150 full time employees. Main reason behind this is to cut costs which is after the company was unsuccessful in raising fresh funds. Now the company has also decided to shut it's Delhi-NCR operations. And it can also shut down it's operations in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, which would result in more layoffs.

MCALLEN, Texas - Vijay Sundaram, chief strategy officer of Zoho Corporation, has given the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service an exclusive interview about his company's decision to set up an office in McAllen, Texas.Zoho is a global software development and technology company based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Its U.S. headquarters was previously in California but is now in Austin, Texas. Its new office in the McAllen Foreign Trade Zone currently has 25 employees—with plans to the double headcount by next year. In his interview, Sundaram spoke about the culture of Zoho and how it shuns the major metropolitan areas. He said the company is happy to set up operations in provincial areas and train the local workforce. He also spoke about how he and the Zoho leadership found something special in McAllen - a willingness of various stakeholders to work together in order to make the company welcome. The interview took place on April 20 at the official announcement that Zoho was launching an office in McAllen.“The idea was to find places where we can be rooted in the community. So… we didn't even know McAllen, until not too long ago. And when we came in here and met people, saw the Valley, see the educational system, saw the willingness of the community to engage… in many ways… I have been in business for a number of years and an entrepreneur myself. But, 25 years ago, and that is what today's session reminded me of, 25 years ago I was in the city of Singapore, trying to set up an office for my then company. And I was impressed with how different parts of the city came together. There were financiers, there was economic development, there was education, there was the political leadership, all coming together to welcome us. Twenty five years later I am seeing that here. I haven't it since. So, I feel like the notion of a community putting all these elements together to promote it, it is unusual. It does not usually happen in America,” Sundaram said.

Google released its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones on Tuesday, which are equipped with some of the AI capabilities that the internet search giant has to offer. Most notably, the new phones have an AI-powered camera system so big that it takes up an entire bar across the width of the phones, jutting out on the back. The phones run on Google's Tensor processor, a system-on-chip designed by Google. Reports in August suggested the chip was based on an Exynos chip from Samsung. The Pixel 6 starts at around $600 dollars and the Pixel 6 Pro will set you back by about $900 dollars. The phones will be available in the US from October 28. Aiven, an open-source data management startup in Finland, has more than doubled its valuation to $2 billion in fresh fundraising, the company's CEO Oskari Saarenmaa said in a blog post. Aiven has raised $60 million in an extension of a Series C round in which it had raised $100 million in March. The company had been valued at $800 million at the time. The company's investors include World Innovation Lab, IVP, Atomico, Earlybird, First Fellows, Lifeline Ventures and Salesforce Ventures. Zoho Corporation, an India-US software products company that makes business management and office productivity software, has introduced six new apps, three new services and seven major platform enhancements in Zoho One—the company's flagship suite of products. The new release helps businesses solve disjointed data challenges and close communications gaps across silos, so they can become more productive, adapt more quickly to remote and hybrid work models, and be better prepared for growth, Zoho said in a press release. ConveGenius, a Singapore-India ed-tech company, has raised $5 million in funding to develop a conversational AI platform, the company said in a press release. The pre-seed round was led by new investors, BAce Capital, Heritas Capital and 3Lines Venture Capital and existing investors, Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. Convegenius.AI aims to expand its products on Whatsapp and other Conversational AI-based channels horizontally, to service more customers across different verticals and allow developers to launch their solutions on the platform. Devnagri, a startup that offers an Indian language translation engine of the same name, with its focus on business customers, has raised $600,000 in seed funding from Venture Catalyst, Inflection Point Ventures and other co-investors. Nakul Kundra and Himanshu Sharma, the founders of Devnagri, want to make the internet accessible to Indians in their own languages. The platform combines neural machine translation with machine learning and a community to help with translations. Its AI-human combination can help businesses scale their operations in local languages at lower costs and faster and more accurate translations, according to the company. (3:52)Interview: Mayur Relekar, CEO of Arcana Network, a blockchain tech company Mayur Relekar is probably third time lucky with his startup Arcana Network, a blockchain technologies company in Bengaluru that is building a decentralised storage and data privacy platform for developers on the Ethereum network. Relekar and his founders belive the future belongs to decentralised finance and applications and they have raised some funding to build out their first commercial product.

Cloud-based business software maker Zoho Corporation stands apart from its Silicon Valley-based tech industry peers, culturally and geographically.
