Anshuman Prasad (1954-2023) was a leading scholar and development of postcolonial theory and bringing it to the domain of management and organization studies. The theory strove to explain the significance influences and impacts that Western colonialism had on non-Western cultures and its implications for organizations located in non-Western settings. We are reading two of his many works, one about the specific use of science as a tool of colonialism and the other is a book chapter that summarizes the works of the early postcolonial theorists.

Both Shreeja and Urjita are hardcore JWM fanatics whereas Abbas falls somewhere in the middle, which makes for some great talking points where the two fans put up a formidable defence for the film. Topics covered include: The character of Geet, and why she's iconic, the ‘manic pixie dream girl' argument, whether JWM has faced a backlash of late? Shahid Kapoor's stoic performance, whether JWM has affected our real life romances, the ‘road movie' aspect of the film, the brilliantly written and acted side characters, what's with the running joke of Geet being a prostitute? Electric Vehicles might look and drive like normal cars, but scratch beneath the surface and you will realise that they are fundamentally different at an architectural level. With the modern car being so much more than merely its mechanicals, I learnt that digital architecture in cars is a thing. The hardware - system on chip, or SoCs, processors and screens, combined with the software - the operating system, middleware and applications bring to life so many elements of the modern car that we take for granted.I wanted to learn more about how these elements of the vehicle's digital architecture work together, and so I invited Anshuman Saxena on the AI in Automotive Podcast. Anshuman is the Head of ADAS/Autonomous Driving at Qualcomm Technologies. He opens up the software-defined vehicle's digital architecture for us, and introduces us to the Snapdragon Ride Platform. We talk about the platform's potential to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous driving technologies, and the direction this space is headed in, in the near future. If you like my conversation with Anshuman, do head over to the AI in Automotive Podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and give us a thumbs up. Thirty Madison is a healthcare technology company that offers direct-to-consumer healthcare and wellness products for people living with chronic conditions. Founded in 2017, the company has raised over $200 million in funding and has more than 400 employees.  As a healthcare company with millions of customers, Thirty Madison has the responsibility of holding their customers' most personal information. Keeping this highly sensitive data secure is mission critical to their business. A single breach could jeopardize their reputation and ruin their relationship with their customers.  To ensure their customers and employees are secure, Thirty Madison brought on Anshuman Bhartiya to put in place a Product Security program that is capable of keeping up with the rapid growth of the company. In today's episode, Anshuman joins Harshil to talk about the lessons learned as he built their Program Security program from scratch and the tactical advice he has for others who find themselves in a similar position.  Topics: How to decide what problems and risks to prioritize when you are first building a product security program. Questions to ask executives and co-workers as you begin building your product security program.  How Security Guardrails can influence developers to build secure code from the beginning and how to actually make that happen.  Anshuman's favorite Security Guardrail he's implemented.  A lightweight approach to building and securing your SDLC.  #1 piece of advice for someone who is just beginning their product security journey.

Modellansatz

India has finally inked free-trade agreement with a country after a yawning gap of over a decade. The fine print of the pact -- signed with the United Arab Emirates last month and released this Sunday -- threw another surprise. Delhi has extended ‘national treatment' status to UAE firms in bidding for central government tenders. So, what does opening of central government procurement market for UAE firms mean for Indian companies and why it has raised concerns in several quarters? Domestic industry is indeed staring at competition from UAE firms operating in free trade zone. Let us now move on to the domestic real estate industry. In an interview with Business Standard's Nivedita Mookerji, Anshuman Magazine of CB Richard Ellis South Asia Pvt Ltd shares why he sees robust growth for the sector which was hit hard by the pandemic.  Analysts are turning cautious on stocks of real estate companies due to soaring input costs. Meanwhile, ITC stock which remained comatose for months at a time when the markets were reaching for the stratosphere has finally started to move. If analysts are to be believed, there is more headroom in this counter. Check out how fundamental and technical analysts see ITC do over the next few months. After Dalal Street, let us have a bird's eye view of the drone industry. During the recent Beating the Retreat ceremony, over 1,000 drones not just lit up the dark Delhi sky with various formations, but also the mood of the audience. The government has said that it was just the beginning of things to come – it wants to make India a global drone hub by 2030. Promoting the drone-as-a-service model is one of the ways to achieve this target. Let us know more about it in this episode of the podcast.  Watch video

Q: I will begin by asking you the Covid story. What happened to the Indian real-estate sector really during that time? Ans: >First impact of Covid-lockdown was on the ongoing constructions >Another impact on the sector was investor decision-making becoming slow, because of the uncertainties   Q: But, you know, it is said that there was a minor blip on the real estate sector and it was not really a major blow. Is that a correct assessment? Ans: >Impact of the extended lockdown could have been much worse for the real estate sector >Recovery was substantial in a short period of time   Q: When you say recovery, are you talking about the residential sector or commercial space? Ans: >Recovery witnessed in all segments of real estate >Recovery in the residential sector started picking up first, because of the pent-up demand >Low interest rates also drove demand in the residential sector >India's office market is primarily driven by technology firms   Q: In your recent outlook report, you have charted a growth-path for Indian real estate in 2022. Are you betting on commercials more or on the residential space this year?   Ans: >Expects the residential sector to thrive, as people are increasingly looking at a better quality of life >Office spaces are expected to do better than last year >Real estate in India undergoing expansion on the logistics side >Data centres, co-living spaces and student housings are coming back to life after Covid-restrictions     Q: Isn't office space the tricky one? Because you don't know whether it's going to be a hybrid model or it is going to be back-to-office. Still there are mixed signals. So many companies have given up office space during the pandemic. So, how is it panning out? Ans: >Hybrid work model is here to stay >Technology companies in India are expanding >Young people want to go out to work >Tech firms, BPOs, software development companies can leverage a lot of facilities when employees work from office     Q: There was an interesting survey recently where about 50% of the samples said that they would prefer real estate to any other asset classes like gold or stocks. Do you think the confidence is real?  Ans: >The confidence is real specially in Asia, where the mindset is physical asset gives maximum comfort to most investors >Real estate is an essential part of diversified investment >Historically, the returns on investment in real estate have been unparallel in India  >Since it's an overall undersupplied market, real estate investment will continue to give returns >Anyone investing in real estate should take an informed decision     Q: It is interesting that you are talking about informed decisions. Recently there was a case of Supertech, which has gone into insolvency. There are other bad stories in real estate. So, where is the check and is there any clean up that's happening in the sector? Ans: >Too much regulation slows down development, but RERA regulations should be followed >Investors and home buyers should do their legal due diligence before investing in real estate     Q: Finally, question on prices. There has been a buzz that construction material prices are going up. When we speak about digital, content is indeed the king. But without engagement, the content remains futile. In this edition of Founder Thesis, Akshay Datt speaks with Anshuman Singh, Co-founder, Scaler Academy, who is on the mission to create the 'Online Stanford.' Anshuman, after his graduation, started working with Facebook as a tech team lead. While recruiting for tech roles in Facebook, he soon realized that the tech education ecosystem in India is broken and fails to equip engineers on what lies ahead. So to prepare techies for job interviews, Anshuman, along with his co-founder Abhimanyu Saxena, started InterviewBit in 2014. It gave rise to another realization that the issue is not with the availability of jobs but with the shortage an industry faces in terms of capable and talented candidates. With this problem in hand, in 2019, Anshuman started Scaler Academy, an upskilling platform that aims to offer high-quality technical education and deliver excellent outcomes for its students. Tune in to this episode to hear Anshuman speak about how Scaler Academy is transforming tech education in India and beyond. What you must not miss! On this episode of The Shape of Work podcast, our guest is Anshuman Das, HR Business Partner at Piramal Capital & Housing Finance. With over four years of experience working as an HRBP and having worked at companies like Axis Bank and Reliance Jio,  Anshuman has plenty of expertise to share in this conversation.EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:The personalized onboarding process for the new hiresHow to avoid a bad hireHis thoughts on Psychometric tests Practical performance appraisal methods for the modern workforce  Going beyond Quantitative performance reviewsPositives and negatives of the remote workforce and virtual collaborationPersonalizing experience by people managers:According to Anshuman, personalizing experience is how people managers should focus on giving a good onboarding experience to the employees. Unless they make the entire employee experience enriching, customers will not be satisfied too as it affects their performance. New joiners are confused while entering the company for the first time. Companies need to consider them as their ambassadors and help them. What impact does a bad hire have on the functioning of the company?HR professionals are also humans and they cannot totally ensure that a candidate would be a 100% fit for the company. But they need to try their best to avoid bad hires. There are two types of loss a company faces due to a bad hire- qualitative and quantitative.Qualitative loss includes the environment of disengagement that the other employees would work in. They will have a burden of extra tasks on them.Quantitative loss includes the monetary expenses and the time wasted.Anshuman explains ways to avoid making such hires with the new processes and analytics taking place. However, Anshuman does not believe in the need for psychometric tests.Impact of tech in the recruitment process:Tech advancements in the recruiting process is a real good addition. It allows easy screening through profiles rather than CVs on paper. In addition, it really helps see the personality of a candidate and makes it faster and efficient.Effective performance management:According to Anshuman, not every performance is measurable. They cannot be added to the rating system. However, performance management can be seen in a learning perspective. Apart from that, the entire process is a tool to help employees and the employers understand what they lack and how to train them. It becomes the process of turning them from an average performer to the best employee. Talent management programs, training, projects, can help develop them into a leadership role. The impact of remote work:Remote working has both its pros and cons. Things are setting up in a remote working setup.  People get an efficient work-life balance, freedom, and flexibility while working from home.Even though it is missing 1v1 interactions are still better but they do help by giving more time. Engagement and understanding depends on where people are more comfortable. It also helps companies in saving costs. Before going back to the normal way of work, companies should follow a slow transition. They should give time to employees and make them understand the difference.Follow Anshuman on LinkedInProduced by: Priya BhattPodcast host: Junius DsilvaBONUS: Performance reviews helps employees to grow and improve themselves. India is the largest provider of generic medicines globally, and the Indian pharmaceutical sector supplies over 50 percent of global demand for various vaccines. Globally, India ranks third in terms of pharmaceutical production by volume and 14th by value. However, despite this, the pharmaceutical supply chain in the country has been underutilised and scattered, according to 23-year-old Anshuman Sahoo. To solve this problem, Anshuman, along with his friend Ashish Rawat, started Impact Health in 2020. The startup aims to connect end-to-end points in the public healthcare system and make it affordable and accessible for everyone, especially for Tier II, III, and rural India. The Bhubaneswar-based healthcare logistics and technology startup has created a platform for end-to-end health journey. Through its flagship Patient Support Program (PSP), the startup ensures the patient gets diagnosed with a problem and ensures they get follow-up check-ups, medicines, tests, and even injection directly at their doorstep.
