One of our absolute greats and arguably the most versatile Hindi filmmaker of all-time, Vijay Anand, left behind a legacy worthy of frequent celebration. Filmmaker, film instructor and co-founder of the popular film blog, Upperstall — Karan Bali joins us to celebrate Vijay Anand and revisit one of his favorites, Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963). We chatted about the legendary director's craft, his gift for filming songs, his innovative approach to storytelling and his tremendous range as a filmmaker. We then focussed on the breezy romantic comedy, Tere Ghar Ke Samne and talked about its classic songs, its innovative title sequence, our favorite scenes and the subtle, nuanced moments from the film. Yes, we also touched on how Vijay Anand's approach with set design used in Dil ka bhanwar, might have influenced the popular American sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.Karan also spoke on Vijay Anand's legacy and how it coincided with the golden decades of Hindi cinema.Upperstall blog: https://upperstall.comFeedback/comments/questions: loveofcinemasf@gmail.comCredits:Produced and hosted by: Himanshu Joglekar (@loveofcinemasf8)Editor: Devika JoglekarMusic: Nakul AbhyankarCopyrights © Love of Cinema 2021Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/LoveOfCinema)
On this episode I speak with Lauren DeVera, a 360° wellness advocate, choreographer and performance artist. You may know her as the founder of The Lion’s Den or for her virtual wellness experiences. Lauren is also the host of THRIVE & THREAD podcast. In Lauren's words - Being the youngest daughter of an immigrant blended family, I struggled with knowing my place in the world and feeling like I truly belonged. This sparked my passion to create a consistent experience where others could feel accepted and safe to authentically be themselves; where they could grow in their movement and mindset practice. Fusing my experience from growing up in church, the collegiate dance community, and recent mindfulness journey, I have been able to bring all the elements into one space.
Come andrebbero considerati?

GuestAndrea Hollandlinkedin.com/in/ahollandandreaholland.comDialed PR is an Agile communications for dynamic businessesdialedpr.comContract PR Jobs Delivers Contract PR jobs to your Inbox, Weeklycontractprjobs.com/Today’s episode features Andrea Holland, owner of one of Santa Barbara’s premier PR firms, Dialed PR. She started it from nothing in 2014 and since has worked with amazing companies like Ontraport, Graphiq which was recently acquired by Amazon Procore and many more. Andrea started the company after spending over 8 years climbing the corporate ladder and becoming a very successful PR executive in San Francisco. This conversation focuses on what motivated her to leave her six-figure job with all the prestige, health and travel benefits to venture out on her own. You’ll learn 3 things in this interview:* How Andrea overcame fear by realizing the worst-case scenario wasn’t that bad* How she used her network to build her net worth* How being patient and betting on herself time and time again paid off in the long run.Enjoy this conversation with Andrea Holland!Theme MusicRising All Along by David Segallwww.davidsegall.comFeedback?email: prakash@togethersb.com
GuestVik Duggalhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/vikduggal/Email: vik@duggal.ioIt's been a few weeks since I've published an episode largely because of the birth of a beautiful baby girl, but also because I've decided to change the focus of this podcast. In these next few interviews, I hope to answer the question of what truly drives people to pull themselves out of their comfort zone and understand the frameworks they live by so it might inspire someone listening to create something new.To kick us off we're starting the conversation with a good friend of mine named Vik Duggal. I met Vik during a time where I was reading lots of books trying to learn how to take my business to the next level, but as luck would have it he actually teaches a personalized workshop on the topic that I attended and was seriously game-changing in growing my confidence and business.Vik is one of the most thoughtful and considered people I know and I know you'll get a lot out of this conversation.Theme MusicRising All Along by David Segallwww.davidsegall.comFeedback?email: prakash@togethersb.com
GuestBradley Bennetthttps://pacificpickleworks.comToday's conversation features Bradley Bennett of Pacific Pickle works, Santa Barbara’s Premier pickle company. They specialize in all-natural pickled vegetable products such as spicy cucumbers, carrots, green beans, asparagus and even have drink mixers like their award-winning Bloody Mary Elixir and Michelada Shrub. Since 2011 they have grown quite a bit and can now be found in over 1,000 gourmet grocery stores and specialty food locations.I really appreciated this interview because apart from hearing the company’s origin story, Brad gets pretty candid around how hard it is to find success and profitability in what seems like a completely broken grocery ecosystem that demands that every vendor pay an unsustainable amount of money before getting on the shelf.I feel like some of the lessons he shares are gold to any entrepreneur thinking of starting a food brand so I truly hope this helps someone who might be earlier in their journey. If you like the interview today, please be sure to rate us wherever you get your podcasts as that helps us reach more people like you.So without further ado, please enjoy this candid conversation with Bradley Bennett, the founder and principle pickle at Pacific Pickle works.Theme MusicRising All Along by David Segallwww.davidsegall.comFeedback?email: prakash@togethersb.com

In this episode of Hope of All Trades, I tackle Big Bang Theory with special guests Nicole and Roxanne from Big Bang Buzz Podcast! We breakdown of all the main characters and some of our favorites guests. We also discuss a wide variety of other topics like how to go to a Big Bang taping, deer, what we would like to see in coming seasons, the romance of John Barrowman and Wil Wheaton, and much more! We also ask the hard hitting questions: -While comparing sports fans and comic book fans, we ask whether or not they’re different. Don’t both love their respective fields with equally as much passion? -Why do people compare some hobbies to others making them “better” than other things? -Isn’t Penny a geek? She’s just as passionate about theatre and acting as the guys are about comics and Star Trek. Shouldn’t she be considered a theatre geek? She’s excited about shoes. Wouldn’t that make her a fashion geek? -Why in our society are there tiers of geekiness where some fans consider themselves better fans? I usually don’t include time codes in my show notes. Since I took a lot of comments, feedback, and questions from facebook, tumblr, twitter, and our lovely Two True Freaks facebook page, I wanted to include them this time. Thank you all for your submissions! 1:17:08 We start our conversations about the controversies in Big Bang Theory 1:18:55 We look at two articles from ugo.com about why you should love Big Bang Theory and why you should hate it. We chat about the pros being the moms, the girls, and Sheldon. The cons were the “laugh track,” the show is sexist by losing Leslie, the show relies on the geek jokes too much, other nerd shows do it better, Sheldon, and the overuse of Bazinga! http://www.ugo.com/tv/11-reasons-geeks-hate-the-big-bang-theory http://www.ugo.com/tv/reasons-geeks-love-the-big-bang-theory 2:13:34 We address an article from 3chicgeeks.com talking about why there are no “geeky” girls in this show. Geeky girls have their own set of problems than geeky guys http://3chicgeeks.com/2013/02/23/the-problem-with-the-big-bang-theory/ 2:26:39 popcultureblog.dallasnews.com had a great line in an article defending Big Bang Theory that stated: “Sometimes actions of the gay characters on Modern Family are the punchline of a joke — but that doesn’t inherently mean that homosexuality itself is the joke. Just that these characters are worth laughing at sometimes.” http://popcultureblog.dallasnews.com/2013/01/why-i-like-the-big-bang-theory-a-nerds-defense-of-cbs-sitcom.html/ 2:31:10 We introduce going through submission that I took on facebook, twitter, tumblr, and from the Two True Freaks facebook page 2:32:11 Kate from tumblr 2:39:29 Michael from facebook. People love comics, sports, religion, music, movies, hobbies, cars, something with just as much passion as the next person. That makes them a geek in their own way. Not a hoax! Not a dream! Not an imaginary story! You know it's out of the ordinary when Luke Jaconetti does a podcast not about giant monsters or horror movies! And we're way outside of the Two True Freaks comfort zone this time out, as Luke talks about his recent "Men's Health" medical procedure in the interest of education and discussion. So go ahead and download the episode, and share the experience and learn something about a topic which doesn't come up on your typical geeky podcast. It contains adult themes, including decription of a medical procedure, and is not intended to be exploitative or graphic. May not be suitable for all ages.
