What does it really take to build a tech ecosystem that endures — beyond PR launches and startup grants? In this episode, Sophia Matveeva shares hard-won insights from working with governments, corporates, and investors on the frontlines of global digital transformation. Whether you're funding innovation, designing policy, or building a product yourself, this is a must-listen. You'll learn what most ecosystem builders overlook, why non-technical founders are a critical (and underutilised) asset, and how trusted advisors — from lawyers to auditors — can unintentionally become blockers to progress. Most importantly, you'll hear how to fix it. You will learn: Why traditional approaches to building tech ecosystems often fall short The critical role of non-technical founders in sustainable innovation Why advisors, lawyers, and accountants can be innovation blockers — and what to do about it The underestimated influence of government in market creation Four key traits shared by enduring tech ecosystems Why Most Ecosystems Don't Last Short-lived programs: Many government-funded accelerators or hubs launch with fanfare but dissolve within 2–5 years due to lack of traction or measurable ROI. Startup survival rates: Globally, over 90% of startups fail. If an ecosystem is judged by the success of its startups, the system often doesn't perform well. Dependence on external funding: Many ecosystems are grant-reliant and don't create self-sustaining capital or talent flywheels. No enduring institutions: Unlike Silicon Valley (Stanford, Sand Hill Road, Google), most ecosystems don't produce lasting institutions that regenerate innovation cycles. Singapore: A World Class Maritime Ecosystem | Chapter 2 - Commercial and Operational Pillars Monday, May 12, 2025 Episode # 5 Featuring: Mr. Saunak Rai, General Manager, FueLNG Capt. Subhangshu Dutt, Founder & CEO, OM Maritime Mr. Dennis De Sepibus, General Manager Freight, South32 And podcast host, Mr. Punit Oza, Founder & Director, Maritime NXT In this episode, we focus on the second of the three aspects of what makes a successful ecosystem: The Commercial and Operational Pillars. Welcoming three leading industry experts to the discussion, we delve in Singapore’s geographical advantage as a shipping hub and the challenges this may present. Singapore’s strategic location along the world’s busiest shipping routes has always been its greatest natural asset. But geography alone does not sustain a maritime hub, infrastructure, policy, collaboration between industry stakeholders and business networks do. Watch the discussion and explore how a commercial user can benefit from Singapore's maritime ecosystem, Singapore's value proposition compared to other hubs, and understand how the commercial aspects of a hub is creating momentum and new players in the maritime space. Some Key Highlights: Regulatory agility sets Singapore apart, as LNG bunkering success is driven by targeted incentives, licensing frameworks, and industry-wide safety standards. Singapore lends credibility to maritime firms, reducing negotiation friction, and the ecosystem’s density of banks, insurers, and legal services creates a one-stop commercial hub. Talent shortages and rigid financing hinder SMEs, forcing reliance on foreign remote teams and Chinese lessors, while past crises make local banks risk-averse to shipping investments. Future competitiveness hinges on decarbonization and digitalization, as ammonia/methanol bunkering regulations remain in development. Adoption depends on cost-sharing models and regional infrastructure partnerships.

According to Tom Niehaus, Executive Vice President at CTG, securing your own organization is not enough to prevent attacks. "You might do the best job in the world," but if your suppliers or business associates aren't secure, "your organization remains vulnerable." In this video, Niehaus and Chad Alessi, Managing Director of Cybersecurity at CTG, discuss some of today's challenges and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Zero Trust can help.Alessi warns that threat actors are already weaponizing AI to probe networks for vulnerabilities at an unprecedented speed and scale. On today's episode we spoke to Rebekah Johnson, Founder & CEO of Numeracle. This was a fascinating conversation about Rebekah's journey starting Numeracle in 2016 to bring trust back to business communications by tackling robocalling and spam in the telecom ecosystem. We talk about how Numeracle became an early identity issuer in telecom through the implementation of STIR/SHAKEN protocols which have now rolled out to subscribers of carriers like T-Mobile and how she overcame the classic chicken-and-egg problem of launching before carriers were ready. We also discuss how the business identity ecosystem compares to consumer digital identity, and what companies should do when they know a new standard is coming (like eIDAS 2.0), but it's not here yet.We finish by exploring modern AI's impact on communications, including how to preserve trust when automated agents or AI-powered voice calls are part of the conversation. You can learn more about Numeracle at numeracle.com and connect with Rebekah on LinkedIn.Subscribe to our weekly newsletter for more announcements related to the future of identity at trinsic.id/podcastReach out to Riley (@rileyphughes) and Trinsic (@trinsic_id) on Twitter. this special episode of Cloud Wars Live, Bob Evans chats with Gerrit Kazmaier, president, products and technology, Workday. They explore how Workday is evolving into a platform company, the role of AI agents in reshaping enterprise workflows, and why trust, accuracy, and extensibility are key to future-ready business solutions. Kazmaier also discusses Workday's approach to ecosystem innovation and composable ERP.Workday's AI FutureThe Big Themes:Real-World Business Value From AI-Driven Results: Workday's AI capabilities are already producing concrete results. Kazmaier shares examples like a recruiting agent that increased recruiter capacity by over 50% and contract intelligence tools that slashed legal costs by up to 60%. These aren't experimental features—they're embedded in Workday's workflows to improve productivity and efficiency.Agents Will Enhance, Not Replace Applications: Kazmeier addresses the myth that AI agents will replace applications. Instead, Workday sees agents as accelerators of existing apps. Many enterprise applications were designed around human cognitive limits, but now AI agents can take over some of those mental loads. Over time, agents will become so proficient they'll perform roles autonomously. But they won't erase apps, they'll enhance them.Composable ERP Is Now a Reality: Workday is making good on the long-promised vision of composable ERP: modular, customizable systems that allow organizations to choose the best tools for each job. Historically, integration challenges made composability difficult. Now, AI simplifies that complexity. Intelligent interfaces and smarter integration allow Workday's ecosystem to plug into its core platform more fluidly. The Big Quote: “This is like early Internet days . . . some people had innovative ideas. But economics weren't just there. Bandwidth was limited and expensive; not everyone had an Ilenternet-ready device...but as exponential improvements happened . . . an entirely new economy was invented, and I think it's the same with AI."

“Transformation isn't just a buzzword — it's the reality of staying competitive.” — Bryan Martin, 8x8 At the inaugural vCon Conference in Hyannis, MA, Bryan Martin, Chairman of 8x8, sat down with Technology Reseller News to discuss the seismic shifts in enterprise communications — from vCons to AI-powered ecosystems — and why companies that don't adapt may be left behind. “The smartest people in the room tend to outthink the rest of the industry. That's why I follow standards like vCons.” From CIDP to Ecosystem Strategy A year ago, 8x8 launched its Customer Interaction Data Platform (CIDP) — a unified system to aggregate and analyze all conversational data. Think of it as vCons in action: making customer conversations searchable, auditable, and actionable. Martin sees this as the foundation for real AI outcomes — not just hype. But with AI moving at lightning speed, 8x8 has shifted to an ecosystem-first model, working with partners like Cognigy, CallCabinet, and Preovi to integrate best-in-class AI tools into its platform. “You can't build fast enough to keep up. We're curating the best AI engines so we can swap in new ones with minimal disruption to customers.” What vCons Bring to the Table Martin highlighted vCons' power to preserve context across handoffs — eliminating the “amnesia effect” when customers move from AI to human agents. That context-rich handoff, he said, is essential to improving both agent efficiency and customer satisfaction. Real Results Over Rhetoric Martin is candid about avoiding the “digital transformation” buzzword. “If we can't transform ourselves at 8x8,” he said, “we have no business asking our partners or customers to change.” The goal is to show, not tell — sharing real case studies of internal improvements driven by vCons and conversational AI. “Call it transformation or not — the end result has to be better CX, better AX, and ultimately, better business outcomes.” Learn More Visit: 8x8.com Follow: 8x8 on LinkedIn #vCon2025 #8x8 #BryanMartin #ConversationalAI #VoiceAI #CustomerExperience #AIPlatform #TechEcosystem #CXTransformation #DigitalStrategy #DougGreen #TechnologyResellerNews #vCons #CIDP #EnterpriseAI

The complex challenges of our interconnected world demand new approaches to discovery and collaboration. In this powerful episode from NASA Convergent Aeronautics Solutions Project in collaboration with Shoshin Works, innovation expert Teri Schindler tackles how the traditionally chaotic "first mile of innovation" can be transformed from a bottleneck into an accelerator of breakthrough solutions. With decades of cross-disciplinary expertise spanning DARPA research projects, Emmy-winning media production, and pioneering work in global sports distribution at the NBA/WNBA, Schindler brings a uniquely qualified perspective to innovation systems. She reveals how siloed expertise across disciplines is hampering our ability to solve critical societal problems at speed and scale. With knowledge publications doubling every 12 months and talent distributed unevenly across institutions, our old systems of connection are failing precisely when we need them most. Through evidence-based frameworks designed to create "structured serendipity," Schindler demonstrates how introducing the right connective tissue between disciplines creates the essential conditions for transformative discovery.Highlights:ARPA-H's innovation breakthrough: 500+ ideas from all 50 states in just 10 days revealed critical blind spots in women's health while fast-tracking a $25M investment in revolutionary personalized medicine technology The collapse of connection: Research confirms broadcasting platforms are failing at meaningful knowledge exchange, with purpose-driven communities delivering 40% higher signal-to-noise ratios in discovery networks Productive friction: Evidence requirements in knowledge networks democratize access beyond elite institutions while dramatically increasing idea quality, transforming how cross-disciplinary breakthroughs emerge Building the innovation interstitium: Creating the essential connective tissue between disciplines that enables accurate ecosystemic intelligence in our most complex societal challenges The poly-intelligence revolution: Flagship Pioneering's framework for integrating human creativity, computational scale, and natural systems to create renaissance-level problem-solving capabilities in previously siloed domainsGuest: Teri Schindler, Co-founder and CEO of Herzog & Schindler and the owner of Polyplexus.comHosts: Dyan Finkhousen, Founder & CEO, Shoshin WorksMarco Annunziata, Co-Founder, Annunziata + Desai PartnersSeries Hosts: Vikram Shyam, Lead Futurist, NASA Glenn Research CenterDyan Finkhousen, Founder & CEO, Shoshin Works
In this episode, I break down what I believe is the emerging structure of the AI-powered world we're all building—consciously or not. I call it the “Four A’s”: Assistants, APIs, Agents, and Augmented Reality. This framework helps make sense of recent developments and where it’s all headed. I talk about: 1. Digital Assistants That Understand and Optimize Your LifeYour DA (like “Kai”) will know your goals, preferences, health, schedule, and context—and proactively optimize your day, from filtering messages to planning meals or surfacing relevant information in real time. 2. APIs and the Real Internet of ThingsEverything becomes an API—from businesses to people to physical objects. Your assistant interacts with these APIs to act on your behalf, turning the world into a navigable ecosystem of services, tools, and resources. 3. Agents and AR Bringing It All TogetherAgents act autonomously to complete multi-step goals, and AR glasses will display their outputs contextually as you move through the world. These systems will collaborate, search, and act—quietly transforming how we live, work, and perceive reality.
