He doesn't remember a life without it.The first experience came early — too early to fully understand, but not too early to feel. A hallway. A bedroom. A new blue teddy bear placed into a child's world still learning what was real and what wasn't. Then a voice where there shouldn't have been one.Fear came first. Then familiarity. What frightened him became something he couldn't be without.Years passed. Decades, even. He moved away, grew older, built a life — and eventually returned to the same area, closer than he ever expected to where it all began. The bear was long gone, but the sense of openness never closed. Gaius and Germanicus settle over wine to analyze the aftermath of World War II, citing Averell Harriman's 1945 fear that Soviet victory represented a barbarian invasion opening Europe to Asian influence and threatening Westerncivilization's foundations. Germanicus suggests a modern inversion has occurred whereby Europe now experiences reverse colonization by former imperial subjects from Africa and Asia who seek cultural and demographic dominance rather than assimilation into existing European societies. They examine American exceptionalism, noting that while the United States officially denies being an empire, its history of continental expansion, indigenous displacement, and ethnic cleansing mirrors classical imperial behavior under different rhetorical guises. The speakers conclude that contemporary elites remain comfortably insulated from the consequences of these demographic and political shifts in gated communities and exclusive enclaves, while common citizens bear the daily burden of fractured social cohesion and competing identities.1942. When wanting feels unsafe, it's often because it reveals how worthy you believe yourself to be. So many of us learned early on to edit our desires before we ever let ourselves feel them. We call it being realistic, responsible, or mature – but beneath that editing is often fear. Fear of disappointment. Fear of judgment. Fear of what wanting might expose about our self-worth. In this episode, I explore why desire is not selfish, frivolous, or indulgent – it's diagnostic. What you allow yourself to want tells the truth about your relationship with worthiness, self-trust, and honesty. When desire becomes conditional, negotiated, or minimized, we slowly disconnect from our aliveness and begin living a life we didn't consciously choose. This conversation invites you to stop chasing outcomes and start listening inward. Desire rooted in self-worth isn't desperate or frantic – it's grounded, clarifying, and deeply honest. When you allow yourself to want without shame or urgency, you stop abandoning yourself and begin rebuilding self-worth from the inside out.   What we explore: Why many of us learned to shrink or edit our desires How desire reveals your beliefs about self-worth The difference between compulsive wanting and aligned desire Why disconnecting from desire leads to numbness and quiet dissatisfaction How honoring desire strengthens self-trust and self-worth If this conversation is stirring something in you and you're ready to reconnect with what you truly want, I invite you to join my free five-day experience, Reignite Your Spark, at https://www.nancylevin.com/spark   Connect with me: Newsletternancylevin.comInstagramFacebook

Most smart women don't stay stuck in fertility treatment because they aren't trying hard enough. They stay stuck because the same pattern keeps repeating, even when the outcomes don't change. If you've done multiple cycles, followed every recommendation, tried different protocols, and still ended up with the same results, this episode is for you. This isn't about which supplement to take or what protocol to ask for next. It's about how fertility decisions are being made, and why that matters more than effort. In this episode, I break down the common patterns I see that keep people looping through treatment without getting real clarity. In this episode, you'll hear about: Why clinics often move straight to "try again" instead of stopping to look at what's actually happening How following the plan can feel safe, even when the plan isn't working Why being busy in treatment isn't the same as making progress How fear of rocking the boat keeps people doing the familiar, even when it's disappointing The quiet cost of time, money, and energy when nothing truly changes I also share why I created the Embryo Audit Checklist. Not to give you more things to do, but to help you step back and look at your own data clearly so you can see patterns instead of reacting to the next suggestion. Read OnlineWhen Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:1–3The Beatitudes call us to the heights of morality and holiness. Those who live according to these divine precepts are blessed beyond measure. The promises to those who live this high calling are great: They become children of God and inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Furthermore, they receive comfort, satisfaction, mercy, purity, and peace. Though the rewards are great, so are the requirements: spiritual poverty, holy sorrow, meekness, longing for righteousness, a merciful heart, purity, peacemaking, and patient endurance during persecution. The Beatitudes reveal the culmination of God's moral teaching and the highest revelation of the Christian life. To fully appreciate their significance, it is helpful to understand the history of moral revelation. Doing so is more than a history lesson on God's deepening revelation, it also reveals the path for our spiritual journey toward perfection.Morality begins with the Natural Law—the innate understanding of right and wrong written on the human heart. This Law is from God and is often described as living in accord with right reason or common sense. All people have access to this moral law within their own consciences, enabling them to recognize God as the Creator, honor Him, respect human dignity and the common good, and refrain from acts such as murder, theft, and deception. Though universally present in all people, sin and our fallen human nature cloud our ability to clearly see and follow that law.In the Old Testament, God slowly revealed Himself and called His people to greater holiness and moral living by adding to the Natural Law through revelation. From Abraham and his descendants, God raised up Moses through whom He revealed the Ten Commandments—a concise moral code rooted in Natural Law but explicitly revealed by God that called His chosen people to right worship, justice, and love for one's neighbor.Through the prophets—such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel—God called Israel to move beyond mere external observance of the law to an interior conversion of heart. Isaiah emphasized the virtues of justice and mercy, Jeremiah prophesied a new covenant in which God's law would be written on the hearts of His people, and Ezekiel promised that God would give His people a new heart and a new spirit, enabling them to follow His statutes. The wisdom literature—Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Wisdom, Sirach—deepened the understanding of moral life by revealing moral gifts, such as the Fear of the Lord, the blessedness of righteousness, and the call to trust in God's providence and live a virtuous life. The Beatitudes elevate all laws of the Old Covenant. Jesus not only calls us to profound holiness, He also provides the means to achieve it through His Sacrifice, transmitted through the grace of the Sacraments. To live the Beatitudes is to live in imitation of Christ, who perfectly embodied all virtues in His life, Passion, and Resurrection. Hence, the Beatitudes are not only a moral code we must follow, they are a participation in and union with the Son of God, Who lived the Beatitudes to perfection. As we ponder the Beatitudes, reflect today on their high and glorious calling, as well as their rewards. Sometimes, reading the Beatitudes can leave us discouraged, as we are aware of how far we are away from perfecting them. Dispel discouragement and know that these new divine precepts are attainable by grace. Set your eyes on the heights of perfection and open yourself to the abundant grace offered. Doing so will not only result in glorious spiritual rewards in this life, it will also result in the greatest eternal rewards in Heaven.Lord of perfection, You lived the Beatitudes to the fullest during Your life on earth and continue to manifest those perfections from Heaven. Please open my heart to Your grace and fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so that I may answer the call to the new and glorious moral state to which I am called. Empower me to live fully immersed in and guided by Your Sacrificial Love. Help me to inspire others to embrace this path of holiness, so that we may journey together toward the eternal joy of Your Kingdom. As we move into a new year, Alyson and I explore one of the most important skills of our time: discernment. In a world saturated with noise, manipulation, and endless information streams, this conversation is about reconnecting with what actually feels true—in your body, your heart, and your lived experience. We talk about why the traditional calendar feels increasingly out of sync with natural rhythms, and how ancient systems rooted in the sun, moon, and seasons offer a deeper sense of alignment. From there, we unpack how modern technology, media, and algorithm-driven platforms hijack attention, overstimulate the nervous system, and subtly pull us away from our inner guidance—often without us even realizing it.Alyson shares the practices that anchor her back into truth, including prayer, sacred fire, drumming, plant medicines, and daily rituals that reconnect her to Earth and spirit. We also get into the medicine of imperfection—why releasing the pressure to be flawless is essential for real growth, compassion, and humility, especially for those walking spiritual paths.Along the way, we reflect on unity versus division, the importance of nature as a reality check, and how fear-based operating systems can quietly shape our lives until we consciously choose something else. There's also a memorable (and cautionary) story involving incense, firemen, and a very unexpected lesson in presence. If you've been feeling disoriented, overstimulated, or unsure what to trust lately, this episode offers grounded reminders, practical anchors, and a powerful invitation to reclaim your own inner compass.Get the Animal Power book and deck, plus a free guided drumming shamanic journey to meet your power animal, at alysoncharles.com/animalpower.DISCLAIMER: This podcast is for educational purposes only and not intended for diagnosing or treating illnesses. Have Compassion on Your Husband's Desire This is a tender topic. And for some of you, even reading this headline might make your chest tighten. Because desire can feel complicated. Painful. Loaded. Or honestly… just exhausting. And yet, this conversation matters—not to shame you, not to pressure you, but to invite you into compassion. Not obligation. Not fear. Not duty-driven compliance. Compassion rooted in God's design for marriage. The Enemy Thrives on Distraction One of the enemy's most effective strategies in marriage is not always obvious sin. It's distraction. Distance. Avoidance. Silence. When sexual intimacy is broken in a marriage—when it's infrequent, half-hearted, or consistently avoided—it quietly becomes a distraction for both spouses. Especially your husband. Not because he's weak. Not because he's demanding. But because sexual intimacy is not a small issue in his life—it is deeply connected to how God designed him. When that connection is missing, it costs him far more than you may realize. Your Husband's Desire Is Not Separate From Who He Is Your husband's sexual desire is not something he can simply turn off. It is woven into his physical design, his emotional wiring, and his sense of being wanted and chosen. When that desire is consistently rejected, it creates real pain—often silent pain. Pain that takes up mental space, affects focus, and drains confidence and steadiness. Just as hunger dominates attention when the body is not nourished, deprivation in intimacy dominates attention when a husband does not know if—or when—connection will happen again. God Did Not Design Sex to Be Optional in Marriage Scripture is clear. "Do not deprive each other." (1 Corinthians 7:5) This is not a suggestion. It is not conditional on feelings. It is not shaped by cultural norms. God designed sexual intimacy to be part of the covenant of marriage—for unity, protection, and connection. This does not mean ignoring trauma. This does not mean tolerating coercion or manipulation. This does not mean silencing wisdom or boundaries. But it does mean that long-term deprivation is outside God's design—and He does not give commands without also offering grace and a path toward healing. If Intimacy Feels Difficult, There Is a Reason If moving toward intimacy feels heavy, forced, or emotionally overwhelming, there is almost always something beneath the surface. Shame about your body. Fear of being used. Past sexual pain or trauma. Resentment that has not healed. Pressure that replaced joy. Messages that taught you sex was dangerous, dirty, or merely a duty. These blocks are real and they deserve attention. But they do not get the final word. God is not asking you to ignore your story—He is inviting you to bring it into the light where healing is possible. Intimacy Was Designed to Be Good God designed marital intimacy to be: Naked and unashamed Enjoyed, not endured Protective, not destructive A celebration of union Scripture celebrates this openly, without embarrassment. Your husband was designed to enjoy the female form, and God gave him exactly one holy place to do that: within marriage. When that place becomes closed off, the cost is deeper than most couples realize. Start Before You Feel Ready Waiting until everything feels healed often means waiting indefinitely. Freedom usually follows obedience—not the other way around. Consistency matters more than perfection. Even choosing regular, predictable intimacy—without everything feeling "fixed"—can begin to rebuild safety, quiet anxiety, and soften resistance. When intimacy is rare, it becomes a mountain. When it is steady, it becomes normal. When it is generous, it becomes life-giving. Your Marriage Was Meant to Be Missional Marriage was never designed to exist only for comfort. It was designed to strengthen both spouses for the work God has called them to do. Healthy intimacy does not distract from God's purposes—it supports them. But when intimacy is withheld, it often becomes the very distraction Scripture warns against. Your compassion has power. It can steady your husband. It can protect your marriage. It can remove a burden he may be carrying quietly. Final Encouragement If this stirred something in you—conviction, grief, resistance, or even hope—don't rush past it. That stirring matters. God does not expose something in your heart to shame you. He does it to heal you. You are not being asked to become someone else overnight. You are being invited to take one faithful step—today—toward compassion, obedience, and freedom. There is grace for the journey. There is wisdom for the next step. And there is hope—more than you may be able to see right now. You are not alone. And God is not finished here.   Blessings, The Delight Your Marriage Team PS - If you want help walking through this with wisdom and care, we would love to come alongside you. Book a free Clarity Call at delightyourmarriage.com/cc. PPS - Here is a quote from a recent graduate: "I was irritable and depressed all the time.  I kept thinking something was wrong with me because I couldn't stop wanting sex.  I knew my wife hated it and thought if I was a better man I could stop wanting it and live without it...[I learned] that God designed me to want sex and I was not made wrong.  I also learned I am not alone.  Many men have struggled like I have and have wives like mine. The biggest celebrations I can remember are her coming to me!  To cuddle, to sit with me, to want to be with me, to take me out. She told our daughters to move because she wanted to sit by me during movie night.  She has taken steps towards intimacy with me on her own without me pressuring her."

Read Online“Let us cross to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. Mark 4:35–38Our Lord's words were prophetic, but so were His actions. Today's Gospel begins after a long day of Jesus teaching parables to the people by the Sea of Galilee. One might think that, after a long day, Jesus and His disciples would have remained in Capernaum for the night, getting a good night's sleep. Instead, Jesus invites His disciples to join Him for a long night on a boat, crossing to the other side of the sea to the territory of the Gerasenes. The Gerasenes were a predominantly Gentile population living in a region that formed part of the Decapolis—a group of ten cities heavily influenced by Greco-Roman culture and pagan practices. The area was culturally distinct from the Jewish territories around the Sea of Galilee, characterized by its Hellenistic architecture, customs, and beliefs. Jesus' invitation to cross the sea was not only an invitation to a long night, but also an invitation to spend the next day within a culturally distinct and perhaps an uneasy setting different from their Jewish hometown. This dual invitation should be seen as a prophetic action by which Jesus invited His disciples—and us—to leave our comfort zone and travel into the challenging and unfamiliar. This lesson has numerous practical implications for our lives. There are many things we do not feel like doing and many ways God calls us out of our comfort zone into the unfamiliar. Fear must never deter us from answering the call, even when we are tired and prefer to rest. When God calls, we must respond. The journey across the Sea of Galilee is also packed with prophetic lessons. The journey by boat from Capernaum to the territory of the Gerasenes was about five to six miles. Under calm conditions, the journey might have taken one to two hours. However, the storm likely extended this time, possibly making the trip several hours long, especially if the disciples had to work against the wind and waves. One important aspect of the journey is that Jesus is asleep during the storm. Because it would have been difficult for anyone to sleep while “waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up,” we should see our Lord's sleep as intentional, to reveal a spiritual lesson. Though God might seem distant at times, or asleep during our time of need, He is there, waiting for us to turn to Him, wake Him, and call on Him.Though these were experienced fishermen and boatmen, they were terrified. Jesus permitted them to experience this terror to reveal their need for faith and trust in Him. His calm presence, even as He slept, was a reminder that no storm—whether physical or spiritual—can overpower the One who created the seas. His rebuke of the wind and waves, “Quiet! Be still!” not only restored peace to the sea but also revealed His divine authority, revealing Himself as God: “LORD, God of hosts, who is like you? Mighty LORD, your faithfulness surrounds you. You rule the raging sea; you still its swelling waves” (Psalm 89:9–10).Reflect today on Jesus' invitation to the disciples to make the journey across the sea after a tiring day. Similarly, God sometimes calls us to enter the chaos of this world to bring His grace where it is not found. Though rest is important, sometimes we must deny ourselves and enter into the sea toward the unfamiliar—reaching out to neighbors or others with whom we feel hesitant, volunteering in ministries, or embracing new challenges that call us out of our comfort zone. As you ponder this scene, let the words of Christ echo in your heart, bringing peace to your soul: “Quiet! Be still!” Do not fear. Have faith. Trust that His command will calm every storm, and hold on to the knowledge that He is always with you, guiding you safely to the other side.All-powerful God, in Your human nature, You faced every difficulty and conquered them so that You could provide me the grace to do the same. When You call me out of my comfort zone into the unfamiliar, give me courage to respond generously, knowing that You are always nearby, waiting to be awakened through a prayer and act of faith. Jesus, I trust in You.Image via Bible picsSource: Free RSS feed from catholic-daily-reflections.com — Copyright © 2026 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. In Covenant Power, teacher Sharla Goettl uses captivating storytelling to bring key endowment principles to life, presented in the imagined voices of the scriptural figures who taught each principle best, such as Peter, Eve, Nephi, & Mormon. Through these stories, you’ll gain an understanding of how the endowment prepares us to receive Christ's covenant power. They also highlight connections between the scriptures and the endowment. God designed temple covenants to enable lasting success, calm deep fears, and build steady confidence. This book teaches how each covenant you make helps you to connect with Christ's power: – Law of Obedience: The action of seeing Christ's power – Law of Sacrifice: Embrace the process to gain Christ's power – Law of the Gospel: Learn how to retain Christ's power – Law of Chastity: Discover the key to increase in Christ's power – Law of Consecration: An opportunity to share Christ's power Be inspired by the endowment through this unique reading experience—one that will testify of Christ's firm foundation built upon covenant guarantees. Whether you are preparing for the endowment or eager to learn more, Covenant Power will empower your love and knowledge of the temple. God has given us to power to overcome our fears. We don't have a spirit of fear, we possess the Holy Spirit, which enables us to face life with the confidence that the Lord is with us in every situation. Main Points:1. Fear goes by many names. Perhaps in your life fear manifests itself as worry, anxiety, dread, concern, apprehension, nervousness, panic, or timidity. Regardless of the label, we give the emotion, its root is deep in fear.2. The first step in overcoming fear is to recognize that it is not from God. God does not want us to be afraid. Rather, God has given us three gifts: power, love, and a sound mind. 3. Bible scholars tell us that over 300 times the Word of God commands us to not be afraid. It's the most repeated command in scripture. I think the frequency of this command is telling us something. God knows our predominant negative emotion would be fear and this fear would keep us from being who He created us to be. Today's Scripture Verses:2 Timothy 1:7 - “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”Isaiah 41:10 - “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

This episode of Care More Be Better is intentionally different. Rather than analysis or debate, host Corinna Bellizzi shares the direct audio of comedian and actor Matt Braunger reading a letter written by his cousin — a father, neighbor, and resident of the Twin Cities — who felt compelled to document what daily life has become like amid intensified federal immigration enforcement in Minneapolis–St. Paul. The letter is not a political essay. It's a witness account — grounded in everyday details like children's activities, neighborhood text threads, and community members stepping into unexpected roles of care and resistance. Through this deeply human lens, the episode explores how large political forces manifest quietly inside ordinary life. After the audio, Corinna reflects on what it means to bear witness without panic, how media fragmentation and algorithm-driven news shape public understanding, and why democracy depends not only on elections, but on relationships, mutual care, and informed attention. Listeners are invited to reflect on their own communities, examine where they get their information, and consider small but meaningful ways to stay engaged, connected, and informed — before fear becomes routine.
