Designer Daniella Kallmeyer has been building her namesake label Kallmeyer for over a decade, from less than $7,000 into one of New York's most exciting labels with two thriving stores and a devoted following. Fresh off a buzzed-about NYFW show, a CFDA nomination for Womenswear Designer of the Year, and Zoe Kravitz in a custom pink dress, Daniella shares how she's redefining luxury on her own terms - with a focus on cut, craft, and creating a wardrobe that women actually want to live in. We also chat about the grind behind so-called “overnight success,” the romance of retail, and how restraint might just be the secret to success.See Kallmeyer's recent collection here https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/spring-2026-ready-to-wear/kallmeyer, and follow the brand on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/kallmeyerofficial/Get 20% an annual membership of my new substack Let's Get Dressed here https://letsgetdressed.substack.com/lgdLove the show? Welcome back to another episode of The Haute Guide! Today I'm breaking down the latest fashion headlines and giving my take on New York Fashion Week. From Jaden Smith being named the first men's creative director for Christian Louboutin and the conversation of whether celebrities deserve these roles or should stick to being brand ambassadors, to SZA stepping into creative direction with Vans, KBB by Kahlana's launch at Target in the middle of their DEI fallout, Chloe Malle stepping in as Vogue's new editor while Vogue Runway moves behind a paywall, and DSW's attempt to rebrand in a struggling retail climate. I'm also talking about what it really means for influencers to become editors, and why I had to make the decision not to attend NYFW this season. Key Moments: Jaden Smith's appointment at Louboutin and if celebrity creative directors are truly qualified SZA taking on creative direction at Vans KBB by Kahlana's Target launch and the conflict of supporting Black designers through problematic retailers Chloe Malle as Vogue's new editor and the shift toward quarterly issues Vogue Runway moving behind a paywall and the backlash around access to fashion coverage DSW's rebrand with new stores, logo, and in-store customization in a collapsing retail climate The ongoing debate of influencers becoming editors and whether they are actually doing the work Why I chose not to attend New York Fashion Week this season and what that says about fashion's accessibility Next Week Sneak Peek: I'll be diving into Project Runway plus a roundup of the latest fashion news. This episode is part five in an ongoing series about brands and how they influence our identities and drive consumerism. In this episode, we will unpack how brands use customer information to create that emotional connection:A nostalgic trip back to the 00s: the rise and fall of Urban Outfitters' “coolness", and what it revealed about aspirational vs. actual customers. Why brands claim to be “obsessed with the customer,” yet often misunderstand who's really shopping with them. The shift from emotional branding to data-driven surveillance marketing and how companies now know us better than we know ourselves.Very special guest Kim Christenson (aka Amanda's cohost of The Department) joins us to explain how digital marketing, social media, and algorithms shape what we buy.A deep dive into “surveillance pricing” and how brands adjust prices just for you (and no, that's not a good thing). And so much more!!Additional reading:"Hotel booking sites show higher prices to travelers from Bay Area," Keith A. Edward Enninful thinks fashion risks going backwards on diversity, which is why he's launched a new media business, EE72, to promote inclusion in an anti-woke era. The former editor of British Vogue talks to Amol about why the industry needs to appeal to all generations – from getting Gen Z on side by tackling fast fashion and affordability, to highlighting the full spectrum of beauty by focussing on ‘women of a certain age' in the first issue of his quarterly magazine. Amol asks him about the recent Sydney Sweeney jeans advert after the US fashion retailer American Eagle ran ads with her alongside the words: "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans". Edward also explains why he left British Vogue and talks about his relationship with his former boss, Anna Wintour. We talk about why carbs aren't the enemy, how to actually approach blood sugar, and why cutting out entire food groups isn't the answer. Virgil Abloh is a designer who broke the mold when it comes to the world of design. He had a degree in architecture, not fashion when he started out designing tee shirts. Kanye West became Virgil's mentor at a time the rapper's own career was taking off. Virgil went from designing streetwear to becoming the first Black artistic director of the French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. Robin Givhan, a Pulitzer-prize winning Senior Critic-at-Large at the Washington Post was so fascinated by Virgil's wide-ranging talent that she wrote a book about him called Make it Ours. We talk about Virgil's tragic death at the age of 41 and how his work has had an historic impact on fashion. “Now What?” is produced with the help of Steve Zimmer, Lucy Little and Jackie Schwartz. Audio production is by Nick Ciavatta.

Send us a textIn excess of ten women from New England have been found dead, some under eerily similar circumstances. The cases leave only the state of Maine exempt from the victim list. In conducting a rudimentary victimology, you come to find that several of the women had histories with addiction, domestic violence and generally, a tough life.Police agencies including the Massachusetts State Police and Connecticut State Police do not believe that the cases are linked. In several of the cases perpetrators have already been arrested or strong suspects exist. There is no gathering task force coming, the cops simply need more.
