Send us Fan MailClinical hypnotist David Barron joins Joey Pinz Discipline Conversations for a fascinating look into hypnosis, identity change, habit control, anxiety, and the hidden power of the mind. With more than 25,000 hours of client experience, David explains hypnosis not as mind control, but as intense internal focus that helps people create new emotional resources, break old patterns, and see themselves differently.David shares how a childhood visit to a county fair hypnotist sparked a lifelong obsession with the mind, eventually leading him to build successful hypnosis practices and work with clients on smoking cessation, anxiety, confidence, weight loss, and peak performance. He also breaks down common myths about hypnosis, the difference between hypnosis and meditation, why Hollywood often gets it wrong, and how athletes use altered states and alter egos to perform at elite levels. The conversation also explores David's powerful view of discipline: valuing your future self over your present self. From quitting smoking to changing identity, this episode is about becoming “not that person anymore” and using the mind to create lasting transformation. Top 3 Highlights

CO-HOST | Make Money in the Creator Economy as YouTube and Netflix Battle for Top Talent

Travis Chappell and producer Eric break down YouTube's reported push to offer millions of dollars to top creators in exchange for exclusive content, as the platform responds to Netflix and other companies increasingly competing for creator talent. They discuss what this escalating competition means for creators, whether platforms should invest more money in emerging channels instead of only the biggest names, and how changing monetization models could shape the future of the creator economy. On this episode we talk about: Why YouTube is reportedly offering millions of dollars to top creators for exclusive content How competition between YouTube, Netflix, Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms benefits creators Whether social platforms should invest more money in smaller and emerging creators instead of concentrating it among the biggest names The challenges of content moderation and the lack of nuance in AI-driven platform policies How the line between Hollywood productions and independent creators continues to disappear Top 3 Takeaways Competition can create more opportunities for creators. As YouTube, Netflix, and other platforms compete for audiences and top talent, creators have more leverage and potentially more ways to monetize their work. Investing downstream could create the next generation of top creators. Instead of putting millions exclusively into established stars, platforms could use milestone-based bonuses, higher RPMs, or creator funds to incentivize the thousands of creators working to build their audiences. The creator economy is increasingly competing with Hollywood. As creators produce increasingly sophisticated content and audiences consume it alongside traditional entertainment, the distinction between a YouTube production and a Hollywood production is becoming less meaningful. Notable Quotes “The good part about capitalism and competition is that people get rewarded for their hard work more because there's competitors in the space that are coming in to try to scoop up other people.” “You have to go where the audience is ultimately and if there's more audience on YouTube then people are gonna continue to upload there.” “The line between Hollywood productions and creators using their iPhone is just getting more blurred and blurred and blurred.” Connect with Travis Chappell: Podcast: Travis Makes Money Instagram: https://instagram.com/travischappell Other: https:travischappell.com A Word from Our Sponsors: - The most successful business owners don't do it all themselves — they delegate. Dr. Drew Pinsky joins Tudor Dixon for a wide-ranging conversation about the Lindsay Clancy case, postpartum psychosis, psychiatric medications, addiction, marijuana, Adderall, GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, and what he sees as major failures in America’s mental health care system. Dr. Drew breaks down the complicated medical questions surrounding Lindsay Clancy, including her psychiatric treatment, extensive medication history, and the critical difference between postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. He explains why he believes the case raises serious questions about continuity of care, psychiatric prescribing, and whether patients with severe mental illness are receiving the intensive treatment they actually need. Tudor and Dr. Drew also examine America’s reliance on prescription medications, including benzodiazepines and Adderall, as well as the role childhood trauma can play in ADHD and addiction. Dr. Drew reflects on his experience treating patients during the prescription opioid epidemic and explains how aggressive opioid prescribing helped fuel the addiction crisis that eventually gave way to heroin and fentanyl. The conversation then turns to Hollywood and the struggles of former child stars, including Amanda Bynes, as Dr. Drew discusses the psychological toll childhood acting can have and the relationship between trauma, addiction, mental illness, and substance abuse. Plus, Dr. Drew sounds the alarm about increasingly potent marijuana and its potential connection to psychosis, bipolar illness, and cannabis hyperemesis syndrome. He also shares his concerns about the explosive popularity of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, including potentially serious side effects and what he describes as a troubling new form of body dysmorphia. It’s a candid conversation about mental health, addiction, modern medicine, and whether America has become too quick to reach for a prescription instead of addressing the underlying problem.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jim Kwik on Memory, AI, and Why Natural Intelligence Beats Artificial Intelligence Your brain is quietly outsourcing itself to AI, and you won't notice until it's gone. This episode gives you the exact framework to use artificial intelligence as a tool for brain optimization instead of a crutch that erodes your memory, focus, and critical thinking. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Jim Kwik, one of the world's leading experts in memory improvement, brain optimization, and accelerated learning. For more than 30 years, Jim has served as the brain coach to professional athletes, political leaders, business magnates, and Hollywood icons, with corporate clients including Google, Nike, SpaceX, and Harvard. He hosts the Kwik Brain podcast with over 100 million downloads, reaches 200,000 people annually through live keynotes, and just wrapped his 14th annual Beyond Biohacking Conference with 5,000 attendees in Austin. Jim overcame a childhood brain injury that left him labeled "learning disabled," and turned that struggle into a mission he calls "no brain left behind." They break down the MIT study showing that people who use AI to write and think score worse on memory and comprehension than those who rely on their own brains, and why that matters for anyone serious about longevity, human performance, and anti-aging. Jim introduces the concept of digital dementia and cognitive sovereignty, explaining how nootropics, neuroplasticity, and functional medicine can support your biology while AI still requires you to keep your own hardware sharp. Reesa Teesa joins Angela Yee, Jordy, and Akeem Woods for a candid conversation about life after her viral 50-part “Who TF Did I Marry?” series and the experiences that inspired her book. Reesa opens up about the mental toll of going viral, the criticism that came with sharing such a vulnerable story, and why she now believes everybody wants to go viral until it’s time to pay the “viral tax.” She also reflects on the pressure she once felt to get married and have children, how that urgency influenced some of her relationship decisions, and why she had to learn there are worse things than being single. The conversation gets into the men behind the codenames in her book, including Beavis, a man she deeply loved despite their lack of sexual compatibility, and Legion, who Reesa says admitted marriage was the only way he believed he could keep her. She also discusses dating as a plus-size woman, being desired privately but not always loved publicly, and reaching a point where she refuses to change herself just to be chosen. Reesa also explains why dating apps are completely off the table, why trust now has to be earned, and how her approach to relationships has changed after everything she experienced. Plus, she talks about adapting her story for television, serving as an executive producer, being involved in the writers’ room, and making sure Hollywood can add its own “seasoning” without completely taking her story out of her hands. From sex and self-worth to marriage, healing, dating, body image, fame, and learning to choose herself, Reesa Teesa keeps it just as transparent as the story that made millions of people tune in.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this thought-provoking episode of the Ultimate Issues Hour, author and critic Christopher Hitchens joins the conversation to discuss his book "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything." Hitchens, known for his scathing critiques of organized religion, shares his views on the role of faith in society and its impact on morality. This episode promises to be a fascinating exploration of the complex relationship between religion and ethics. Christopher Hitchens and Dennis engage in a lively discussion about the nature of morality, with Hitchens arguing that it's not necessarily tied to religious beliefs. He cites examples of secular institutions, such as universities and Hollywood, where people are often more accepting of progressive values. However, the speaker counters that these institutions can also be breeding grounds for idiocy and intolerance. The conversation delves into the complexities of human nature, with Hitchens suggesting that people are not inherently good or evil, but rather a mix of both. Arden Myrin comes to the Pol' Atteu Beverly Hills house dressed to kill—and within minutes, nothing is off limits. We get into the creative energy that keeps all three of us moving, why Arden says she shuts down instead of screaming when things go sideways, and the deeply personal chapter of her 18-year relationship that ended during the pandemic. She opens up about fertility treatments, the uncertainty she felt about motherhood, and the anesthesia-fueled line involving the Gilmore Girls that still makes us howl. Then we undress the career turn Arden never expected. After years of playing the quirky neighbor, secretary, best friend and scene-stealer, she reveals why she was convinced no one would ever cast her as the wife—until Free Bert came along. Her audition setup involved an ironing board, a phone and a dirty crib sheet, but somehow it led to a chemistry read with Bert Kreischer and a major spot near the top of the call sheet. Arden tells us why she immediately understood the woman she was playing, how her own parents' wild love story helped unlock the role, and why being amused by Bert instead of trying to tame him may have sealed the deal. We also get the behind-the-scenes story of the young actresses playing her daughters, Arden's protective instinct toward them, and the unlikely nationwide search that brought one of them from farm life to Universal. And just when you think we're done, the conversation takes a Hollywood left turn: FYC parties, skipping Saturday Night Live for a friend, Arden's own SNL test—and her brutally funny verdict on what it was really like working on MADtv. This is Arden Myrin completely undressed: hilarious, candid, sentimental and very, very unfiltered. “You can't get through it if it's not real.”Welcome back to The Speaker Lab Podcast! In this alumni speaker connection episode, Dan sits down with Robin Blair — an ordained minister, award-winning speaker, singer, and media producer who spent decades inside network television and radio before walking away from it all to pursue ministry and professional speaking.Robin's career arc reads like a Hollywood pitch: TV shopping host on network television, then a key player in the first children's radio network to go national, then co-founder of a children's television production company. She and her team created a live-action, puppet, and music children's show, made four pilots, and sold the show to Animal Planet. But at the New York City Toy Fair in the 1990s, she watched an executive preview a show being imported from the UK and announce to the room that one-year-olds were now advertising targets. That moment gutted her. Shortly after, discouraged with the direction of the industry, she answered a call to ministry and headed to seminary — all the way through to a doctorate. After a couple of decades preaching from the pulpit, Robin has stepped back from congregational ministry to build a professional speaking business. Her body of work, Digital Discipleship Matters, takes a faith orientation to the digital culture we all live in — helping families discern media rather than making an enemy of it. And she's working through a mindset shift that will sound familiar to a lot of speakers: moving from speaking for little or nothing to truly valuing the expertise she brings. You'll learn:How Robin's decades inside network TV, radio, and children's media became her strongest speaking credentialWhy your past career detours are qualifications, not wasted timeWhat “digital discipleship” means and how Robin carved out a speaking niche from itThe mindset shift from speaking for free (or nearly free) to getting paid what your message is worthWhy Robin created a family discernment tool as the key to unlocking hesitant audiencesDan's advice on finding the smaller group who desperately need your message instead of trying to reach everyoneWhy slow, relational trust-building beats aggressive outreach — especially when you're just startingHow to handle silence after a pitch (hint: it's normal, even when it stings)Robin's approach to treating the internet as a mission field for her messageThe difference between having something important to say and assuming everyone wants to hear itAnd much, much more!“What I'm bringing has value to people for their lives and for generations of their lives. And it's perfectly okay to receive compensation for that.”Are you sitting on years of hard-won expertise — but still struggling to turn it into a speaking business that actually pays? DB Frick and director Julius Olivas talk with Mike about Saving Ferris Butler, their scrappy, sub-$30,000 documentary chasing down the wildest claim in comedy history: that Ferris Butler, a fired 1980-81 Saturday Night Live writer and the mind behind the underground cable-access sketch show Waste Meat News, is the real inspiration for John Hughes's Ferris Bueller. Frick met Butler at a New York open mic fifteen years ago and spent years hearing him make the case; Olivas came aboard after directing Inky, his documentary on forgotten Hollywood ghostwriter Neil Gumbel, and dove into what turned out to be thousands of hours of archival footage. They talk assembling an unlikely roster of SNL alumni and insiders — Denny Dillon, Patrick Weathers, Hugh Fink, Tom "Bones" Malone — thanks to journalist Andy Haugland, tracking down the Del Close connection linking Butler to Hughes, and reuniting Weathers and songwriter Neil Levy on stage for the first time since 1983 at the film's sold-out 40th-anniversary premiere at the Quad Cinema. They also dig into Butler's late-life health struggles, his decades-long marriage to songwriting legend Beverly Ross ("Lollipop"), and why they think his story of scrappy, self-made outsider comedy is bigger than just one Ferris Bueller theory.Visit https://savingferrisbutler.com/ to find out more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-projection-booth--5513239/support.Become a supporter of The Projection Booth at http://www.patreon.com/projectionbooth

TODAY'S QUESTION: Dearest Ben and remaining two talentless dinks, I am seeking advice that is of the utmost importance. I am known about my city as a scorching hot standup comedian with accolades galore, as well as a gifted actor and scribe, worthy of all the awards that Hollywood can bestow, if the godless bastard gatekeepers would take the time to notice me. But, my career has been stunted by my love of music. My social media presence has struggled to gain the numbers I feel I deserve, because it appears scattered as I am always interrupting standup clips with videos of me performing in my various music projects, not to mention that my management has repeatedly said that the industry doesn't know if I want to be a comedian or a quote-unquote "Mr. Rocker Guy." What do I do? Music is my first love and has been my true passion since I was 14 years old, but I'm aging out and have more opportunities at the ready in the comedy world. Help me, you talentless hacks. September is just around the corner and with the start of the new month comes the fall film festival circuit. Taylor Antrim served as a guest host on today's episode and was joined by fellow Vogue editors and cinephiles Liam Hess and Lisa Wong Macabasco. They discussed the slate of fall film festivals ahead. Liam will be attending Venice—the first and most glamorous of the bunch—and then Taylor and Lisa will both be headed to Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as well as New York Film Festival (NYFF). “We do get the opportunity sometimes to see some of these festival films before they come out in the festivals because they're trying to drum up support from Vogue and other, other outlets,” Taylor explained. As such, they began their conversation by shouting out some of the films they've already had the chance to see. First on that list was the New York centric film Paper Tiger, by James Gray starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson. “There's a lot of wigs and suits and accents that are a little over the top,” Lisa noted of the thriller that takes places in Queens, New York in the eighties. After watching the film, Taylor found himself asking his group chats “Is Adam Driver a great actor or not?” The cohort weighed in on this quandary.  They weighed in on All of A Sudden, Ryusuke Hamaguchi's French language debut, Fjord, Cristian Mungiu's legal thriller starring podcast favorite Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan,  Hope, an action film starring two-time Vogue cover star Ho-yeon, and Gentle Monster, a vehicle for an incredible performance from Léa Seydoux. In a final lightning round, they each shared the two films they are most excited to see at the festivals. For Liam, he is looking forward to catching Possible Love by Lee Chang-dong and Primetime, a striking portrayal of television host Chris Hansen. Lisa is excited for Bucking Fastard, starring the Mara sisters as twins, and Misty Green, Chris Rock's directorial return promising a commentary about race in Hollywood. Taylor rounded it out with Ink from Danny Boyle, a biographical film about Rupert Murdoch's acquisition of The Sun, and Magazine, an indie pick from Vogue contributor Alexandra Pechman.  Also on today's episode, Chloe is joined by Marley Marius to talk about the big news of the week: the reported return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the UK. They also discuss the latest movies they've seen (Paw Patrol for Chloe and Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter for Marley) and which stars they are most excited to see on the Venice red carpet (hint: it starts with Parker and ends with Posey). And they gushed over Margaret Qualley's Chanel barefoot sandals which she rocked at a recent red carpet appearance for The Dog Stars in London. The teenage years can be difficult for parents as well as the kids going through so many physical and emotional changes. Celeste's parents tried to keep their strong willed daughter at home, safe and under their watch. When she told them she had a "boyfriend," they took her phone away. R&B singer D4vd paid a student at her school to give her a phone he bought for her to use exclusively with him. On February 14, 2024 D4vd sent an Uber to pick her up and bring her to his home in the Hollywood Hills. They named their plan "Operation Awesome." She was 13 years old and he was 19. She returned home to her Riverside County home in Lake Elsinore a few days later after her parents reported her missing the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. She left again on March 19, 2024. And again on April 5, 2024. Always reported to the Sheriffs Department. She and D4vd were dramatic and tumultuous and neither of them had the emotional intelligence to be in a "relationship." No ones brains were fully developed. Prosecutors believe on or about April 23, 2025 D4vd sent an Uber to Celeste's home in Lake Elsinore, 80 miles from his home in Hollywood to bring her to his home for a confrontation. Digital communications show that Celeste was angry at being rejected by D4vd and he was feeling threatened as she said she would tell the world he was sleeping with her an underage girl. The exact dates and what for sure happened are not fully known but you can hear how a 14 year old Celeste ended up in the front trunk of a Tesla owned by David Burke, AKA D4vd, decomposed and found one day before what would have been her 15 birthday. A year where other 15 year olds are celebrated with a Quinceanera ceremony. Even though a judge has decided that there is enough evidence to remand David Anthony Burke over for trial, there are details in the timeline that are still missing. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald, interviewed veteran Hollywood writers and producers Sherri McCovey and Kevin G. Boyd. About their careers, the development of The Varnell Hill Show, and the significance of creating the first-ever spin-off from the iconic Martin television series. The discussion explores perseverance in Hollywood, the cultural legacy of Martin, the changing entertainment industry, mentorship, and the importance of continuing to create opportunities for Black storytellers and creatives. Purpose of the Interview The interview was designed to: Promote and introduce The Varnell Hill Show. Share the behind-the-scenes journey of bringing the project to television. Explain why Martin remains one of the most influential sitcoms in Black television history. Discuss the realities of building a career in Hollywood. Highlight the importance of mentorship, networking, and professional relationships. Encourage future creators to remain persistent in pursuing their goals. Key Takeaways 1. Great Projects Often Require Long-Term Persistence McCovey and Boyd revealed that the show was initially sold in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down much of the entertainment industry. Despite years of delays, redevelopment, and shifting priorities, they remained committed to bringing the project to life. Lesson: Success often comes to those who stay committed through setbacks and uncertainty. 2.
