Director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Authorities are investigating the deaths as a double homicide. According to People Magazine, citing multiple sources, the couple's 32-year-old son Nick Reiner is allegedly responsible. Both victims reportedly suffered stab wounds. Their daughter Romy discovered the bodies. Rob Reiner was 78. He won two Emmys playing "Meathead" on All in the Family before becoming one of Hollywood's most celebrated directors. His filmography includes This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men. His final film, Spinal Tap II, was released earlier this year. Michele Singer Reiner, 68, was a photographer who met Rob on the set of When Harry Met Sally. They married in 1989 and had three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy. Rob once said meeting Michele inspired him to change the film's ending so the characters end up together. Nick Reiner has spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction, which began in his teens. He first entered rehab at 15 and cycled through more than a dozen treatment programs. In 2016, he co-wrote the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie with his father about his experiences with addiction and recovery. LAPD has not officially named a suspect. 12-15-2025. "HO! HO! HOLLYWOOD: SANTA CLAUSE IN CLASSIC CINEMA" (118) Long before special effects, CGI snowstorms, and big-budget holiday franchises, it fell to a small but memorable group of performers to embody the warmth, wonder, and whimsy of old St. Nick. Ever wonder about the actors who were called upon to portray Santa Claus in film and TV? These classic Santas weren't just men in red suits — they were character actors, vaudevillians, radio veterans, and Hollywood workhorses who brought their own unique spark to the role, shaping how generations of moviegoers came to imagine Father Christmas. From the twinkle-eyed charmers to the unexpectedly gruff curmudgeons, from the iconic to the nearly forgotten, we're unwrapping the stories behind the earliest portrayals that turned Santa into a cinematic tradition. So settle in with a mug of something warm, hang your stocking, and join us as we explore the jolly, joyful, and sometimes surprisingly complex history of Hollywood's first Santas. When artist Vincent Fantauzzo was a boy he was a street-fighting petty criminal with dyslexia and a blazing talent for drawing. He escaped jail time, and grew up to become one of Australia's most well-known portrait artists.VIncent Fantauzzo is one of Australia's most successful portrait artists. For his luminous, photo-realistic paintings he's won the People's Choice Award at the annual Archibald Prize more than any other artist. He's also won the Moran National Portrait Prize twice, once with a painting of his friend, filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, and the second time with a painting of his wife, actor Asher Keddie. All the success is a long way from his upbringing in Broadmeadows in Melbourne, when at times it seemed like he was going to end up in jail, or dead.Vincent struggled so badly with dyslexia that he developed elaborate rituals to avoid writing at school, which is partly how he came to drawing. He became a street-fighting petty criminal and he was kicked out of school at 14 and was drawn into a violent world where he had to be extraordinarily streetwise to survive.Vincent still carries the scars of surviving his childhood into the big, beautiful life he's built for himself as one of Australia's most well-known artists. This episode of Conversations explores origin stories, social disadvantage, parenting, father son relationships, boxing, learning disabilities, struggling in school, Hollywood, the art world, Heath Ledger, Kim Ledger, Batman, family, family dynamics, life story, art, portraits, painting, juvenile crime, drug dealing, hot houses, brothers.Unveiled, written with Craig Henderson, is published by Penguin. To binge even more great episodes of the ‘Conversations podcast' with Richard Fidler and Sarah Kanowski go the ABC listen app (Australia) or wherever you get your podcasts. "Based on a true story." "Inspired by actual events." "The following actually happened."These five words might be Hollywood's greatest magic trick, transforming entertainment into education, fiction into fact, and Brad Pitt's abs into ancient Greek warfare. More Americans learn their history from movies than from any other source. Think about that for a moment. Our understanding of the past - of who we were, what we've done, and where we're going - can be shaped more by screenwriters than scholars, more by CGI than citations. So what happens when Hollywood gets it wrong? When the decade-long siege of Troy gets compressed into a long weekend? When a president's decision to invade Iraq gets reduced to daddy issues? And yet - what about when they get it right? When a film captures not just the facts but the feeling of a moment? When Colin Firth's king reminds us that history turns on personal struggles as much as grand strategies? When Spielberg refuses to look away from humanity's darkest hour and finds light anyway?Join Jon, Dan, and Joe as they wade through Hollywood's version of history - celebrating the films that honor the past and calling out the ones that butcher it for a buck. From newsrooms to royal courts, from Warsaw ghettos to Trojan beaches, we're asking the question that matters: in an age where movies are our history teachers, what exactly are we teaching ourselves? And more importantly - who gets to decide what's worth remembering?

Hollywood got it wrong: The Spitfire was not the work of one man.Aviation historian Paul Beaver dismantles the myths created by the Hollywood film, First of the Few. He reveals that while Mitchell was a brilliant engineer, the idea of him single-handedly designing the Spitfire is a fantasy. Instead, the aircraft was the result of a collaborative, unsung team at Supermarine.Discover how films distort historical truths and why figures like Mitchell and Alan Turing are often misrepresented to create a more dramatic narrative. Paul Beaver exposes a compelling, untold story of engineering genius, collaboration, and a team of unsung heroes who truly built the Spitfire.A Team, Not a Single HeroWhile Mitchell was a brilliant engineer and a visionary team leader, the Spitfire was the product of a dedicated team at Supermarine. Beaver highlights key figures who deserve recognition:Alf Faddy: The head of the design team, who sketched the initial plans with Mitchell.Beverly Shenstone: An engineer who contributed his expertise in wing design, leading to the aircraft's famous elliptical wing.Joe Smith: The man who later became Supermarine's chief designer in 1941.George Pickering and Geoffrey Quill: The crucial test pilots who risked their lives to develop the aircraft.A More Nuanced LegacyPaul argues for a more truthful understanding of Mitchell's legacy. Mitchell, who died at the age of 42 in 1937, was a prolific engineer with 24 different aircraft types to his name. His work extended far beyond the Spitfire, including designs for bombers and seaplanes. He even famously redesigned a colostomy bag after his surgery, showing his relentless engineering mindset.Ready to challenge everything you thought you knew about the Spitfire? Interview Date: August 24th, 2025Episode Summary:In this captivating conversation, Juliet Prowse, author of Born to Dance, joins The Business of Dance Podcast to share the untold story of her legendary aunt, the late Juliet Prowse — a trailblazing British-South African dancer and actress who conquered Hollywood, Las Vegas, and Broadway. From performing alongside Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley in Can-Can and G.I. Blues to headlining her own million-dollar Vegas residency, Big Juliet redefined what it meant to be a female entertainer in a male-dominated era. Little Juliet takes listeners behind the scenes of her research journey — discovering a red suitcase of letters, interviewing former collaborators, and piecing together the life of a woman who never waited for permission to shine. The discussion unpacks the discipline, athleticism, and business savvy that made Juliet Prowse one of the highest-paid performers of the 1970s, plus stories of her engagements to Sinatra, her friendship with Elvis, and her unstoppable work ethic that kept her dancing until her final days. This episode is perfect for dancers, musical-theatre artists, and history-minded creatives who want to learn from one of the greats — and be reminded that success is built on grit, artistry, and courage to create your own opportunities.Shownotes:(0:00) – Welcome & introduction to Juliet Prowse interview(3:00) – Little Juliet shares the story behind her famous name(13:18) – Discovering a red suitcase & inspiration to write Born to Dance(16:00) – Big Juliet's early Hollywood years & Vegas debut(21:03) – Athleticism, costuming, and Bob Mackie's extravagant designs(25:39) – Breaking barriers: creating her own Las Vegas show(31:22) – The million-dollar Desert Inn contract & Vegas legacy(36:29) – Life, love & rumors — Sinatra, Elvis, and beyond(41:23) – Performing through illness & leaving a lasting impact(1:03:00) – Lessons for today's dancers: hard work, creativity, & legacyBiography:Juliet Prowse never intended on becoming an author, but when she spotted a little red suitcase in her parents' attic, filled to the brim with articles about her famous aunt, the dancer/entertainer Juliet Prowse, she felt she just had to tell this story. As a seasoned communications professional, Juliet was used to writing, but to ensure the authenticity of her first book, Juliet waded through over 1 000 newspaper articles and letters, largely written by her dancing aunt to her mother (the author's grandmother), and spoke to over 20 people who had performed with Juliet. Known as Big Juliet and Little Juliet in the Prowse household, Little Juliet inherited her aunt's athleticism and became a South African runner, but she was never as graceful as her famous aunt who was born to dance.Juliet has an MBA from the University of Cape Town and a science degree from the University of Nebraska. Are the Claims of Racism True, or a Distraction? Special Episode. From Chicago to West Virginia, a Law Enforcement Perspective. Few accusations are repeated as often, or with as much certainty, as the claim that American policing and the criminal justice system are inherently racist. It's a powerful narrative, amplified daily across social media, headlines, and political talking points. But is it true? Or has it become a dangerous distraction from facts, context, and real solutions? Look for The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. That question is at the center of a special episode of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, available on their website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and many major streaming platforms, and discussed across Facebook, Instagram, and the news. The episode features Maurice “Maury” Richards, a former Police Chief in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and a retired Chicago Police Lieutenant with decades of frontline experience. Experience From Two Very Different Cities Richards' career spans two vastly different policing environments, urban Chicago and small-city West Virginia. His perspective is not theoretical or academic; it's built on years of responding to violent crime, managing officers, and confronting the realities that don't always make headlines. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . During the conversation, Richards challenges the popular claim that police shootings in America are driven by racial bias. Instead, he argues that crime patterns, suspect behavior, and officer encounters with violence, not race, largely explain police use-of-force outcomes. Are the Claims of Racism True, or a Distraction? Special Episode. What the Data Shows National data consistently reveals that police shootings closely track rates of violent crime and armed encounters, not racial animus. In 2019, police officers fatally shot just over 1,000 individuals nationwide. The majority were armed or posed an immediate threat. While African Americans represented roughly a quarter of those killed, that proportion has remained stable for years and is lower than what crime and suspect data would predict, given the frequency with which officers encounter armed violent offenders. That context is often missing from public debate. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and other podcast platforms. Equally overlooked: in 2019, police fatally shot more unarmed white suspects than unarmed Black suspects, and those numbers have declined significantly since 2015. When placed alongside broader homicide data, unarmed Black suspects killed by police represent a tiny fraction of overall violent deaths involving African Americans. What Research Actually Concludes Multiple large-scale studies, spanning economics, criminology, and peer-reviewed science, have examined police use of force. Their findings repeatedly undermine the claim of systemic racial bias in police shootings. Are the Claims of Racism True, or a Distraction? Special Episode. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Researchers have found that: The likelihood of a fatal police encounter increases with exposure to violent suspects, regardless of race. There is no statistically significant evidence of anti-Black bias in fatal police shootings when crime rates and behavior during encounters are considered. White officers, in some departments, have been found less likely than minority officers to shoot unarmed Black suspects. These conclusions don't deny that misconduct occurs or that bad officers exist. Rather, they challenge the idea that racism is baked into the system itself. The Cost of a False Narrative Richards and the show's hosts argue that the real danger lies in what happens when an unproven narrative is treated as fact. The portrayal of policing as systemically racist has had consequences, some deadly.  In past years, false assumptions fueled targeted attacks on officers and led to pullbacks in proactive policing, especially in high-crime neighborhoods. When officers disengage, it is often law-abiding residents in minority communities who pay the price through increased violence, drug activity, and gang control. Are the Claims of Racism True, or a Distraction? Special Episode. Check out The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, on Apple podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and across most podcast platforms where listeners will find authentic law enforcement stories. As Richards explains, fewer arrests and less enforcement don't eliminate crime, they simply shift power to those who exploit the absence of law and order. Politics, Policy, and the Bigger Picture Claims of systemic racism have become foundational to movements such as “Defund the Police,” opposition to Broken Windows policing, and calls to dismantle traditional drug enforcement. Even national leaders have echoed these allegations, often without defining what “systemic racism” actually means. When examined closely, the arguments fall apart: Claims of widespread racial animus ignore how aggressively modern institutions punish and correct discriminatory behavior. Assertions that past racism explains all present disparities assume causal links unsupported by evidence. Psychological theories of subconscious bias have been widely challenged and debunked. Disparity-based arguments focus solely on offenders while ignoring victims, who are disproportionately minority themselves. Perhaps most troubling, many proposed “solutions” would harm the very communities they claim to protect by reducing safety, enforcement, and accountability. The Bottom Line The conversation reaches a clear conclusion: the claim of systemic racism in American policing and the criminal justice system does not stand up to scrutiny. That doesn't mean reform isn't needed or that every police action is justified, but it does mean debates should be grounded in facts, not fear or political convenience. Lewis Herms, running for governor of California in 2026, exposes the hidden architecture of government corruption, election integrity failures, geoengineering programs, and intelligence-linked influence networks shaping Hollywood and California politics in episode 229 of Far Out with Faust.Lewis Herms is a political outsider, researcher, and grassroots organizer known for his work in the truther community and for challenging the systems he believes drive corruption across California and the United States. His investigations span human trafficking pipelines, intelligence-agency influence, media manipulation, and the structural failures in homelessness and child welfare. In this episode, we travel back to 1903 to explore the film that helped define American cinema long before Hollywood found its voice. The Great Train Robbery isn't just an early Western—it's a landmark collision of myth, modernity, and narrative invention. Released while real outlaws were still roaming the frontier, the film stands at a pivotal moment when the American West was fading into history but rising into legend. We examine how Edwin S. Porter's short, violent, technically daring film transformed cinema from a novelty into a storytelling medium. From its startling alignment with the outlaws to its groundbreaking use of action, movement, and editing, The Great Train Robbery shaped the themes that would dominate American film for the next century: frontier justice, charismatic violence, technological change, and the thin line between spectator and participant. We also unpack the film's iconic final shot—a bandit firing directly into the camera—and why it remains one of the most provocative gestures in film history. If you've ever wondered how the Western became myth, how cinema learned to tell stories, or why American film has always been fascinated with outlaws, this deep dive uncovers the origins of it all.A revisionist Western before revisionism existed. A myth created in real time. And a twelve-minute film that changed everything.Where to watch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In3mRDX0uqkAll music licensed through Music Bed

First up is Not Without Hope, a true survival story set in the unforgiving Gulf of Mexico. Starring Zachary Levi, the film asks a haunting question: what happens when elite athletes face an enemy they can't overpower—the ocean itself? Andy praises the acting, realism, and immersive camerawork, but questions the pacing. 11:10 – Not Without Hope movie review • Andy's ratings: Quality ★★½ | Political ★★ | Moral/Religious ★½ Then Andy turns his attention to the holiday slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night, a Christmas horror film with a killer Santa and a disturbing moral twist. Does brutality equal horror? Andy doesn't think so. Despite a few solid performances and inventive moments, he finds the story implausible, boring, and wildly overrated. His verdict is brutal. 22:58 – Silent Night, Deadly Night movie review • Andy's ratings: Quality ★½ | Political ★★★ | Moral/Religious ★ HOUR 2 Hour 2 of Rush To Reason turns cinematic as Andy Peth, joined by Luke Chasman and Tanner Coleman, dives headfirst into “Movies of the Sea”—from swashbuckling adventures to submarine warfare and shark-infested nightmares. What makes a great ocean movie: spectacle, tension, or pure fear? The crew debates classics like Pirates of the Caribbean and Jaws, praises modern standouts such as Aquaman (the first one), and contrasts them with notorious misfires like Pearl Harbor and Aquaman 2. The conversation plunges deeper with gripping submarine films, including Das Boot, U-571, The Hunt for Red October, and The Abyss, highlighting claustrophobia, sound design, and the terror of depth charges in total darkness. Sharks circle the discussion with Deep Blue Sea, The Meg, and even Sharknado, blending genuine tension with campy fun. Animated favorites like Finding Nemo spark nostalgia—and a sharp critique of how Pixar's magic has faded. Is fear more effective when it's realistic, or when it's ridiculous? SYRACUSE ARTIST WINS INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATION CONTEST Upcoming Hollywood Awards Event HOLLYWOOD, CA - Syracuse, Utah artist Tray Streeter is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest earning him a trip to Hollywood for a week-long master-class workshop, an awards event and his illustration will be published in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 42. Tray Streeter grew up in Syracuse, Utah. Like many children, he spent much of his childhood drawing, though he was especially interested in still lifes. That fascination with technique deepened in his teenage years after he received a set of oil paints for Christmas, leading him to study the works of John Singer Sargent and Caravaggio. Portraiture became his passion, one that continues to influence his work today. It was not until adulthood, when he began working digitally, that he turned his attention to sci-fi and fantasy art. The genre offered him the freedom to create artworks that exist beyond reality. Influenced by artists like Frank Frazetta and Alex Ross, he aims to combine both the drama and technique of classical painting with the sleek, contemporary possibilities of digital art. Currently, Tray is attending Weber State University, pursuing a BFA in Art with a 2D emphasis. After graduation, he hopes to continue his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ultimately, he aspires to illustrate for Dungeons & Dragons, work on cover illustration for comics, and develop his own original concepts. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. In the 42 years of the Writers of the Future Contest, there have been 571 winners and published finalists. Emotie is de kern van elk goed verhaal.'Timestamps:00:00:00 Nerd Culture #23700:01:13 Wat hebben we gekeken?00:01:20 IT: Welcome to Derry00:04:12 Mr. Mercedes00:07:05 Troll 200:12:34 Special Forces00:19:42 Blockbuster Helden00:25:12 Supergirl Trailer00:27:40 The Rock & Brendan Fraser00:31:25 Paramount vs Warner Bros00:36:00 Disney x OpenAI (Sora)00:40:12 Hijack Season 2 Trailer00:43:45 Sakamoto Days (Live-Action)00:45:48 Street Fighter Trailer00:46:08 28 Years Later00:49:31 Thor in Avengers: Doomsday?00:51:48 Sebastian Stan over Doomsday00:56:43 Doom vs Captain America01:04:00 Sigourney Weaver & Alien01:07:00 The Boys – Final Season
