Join Lionel on The Other Side of Midnight for an eclectic mix of conspiracy, nostalgia, and sharp-tongued commentary. In this episode, Lionel bypasses the "boring" government shutdown news to explore unexplained aerial phenomena and classic cryptid legends like the Flatwoods Monster. He celebrates the visual genius of Ernie Kovacs and the soulful rock of Three Dog Night, while offering a cynical guide to media success: steal, fake honesty, and hide. The conversation takes a dark turn as Lionel dissects the Ghislaine Maxwell and Epstein saga, theorizing that Maxwell was the true "guiding force" behind the operation. He also reminisces about Rudy Giuliani's NYC, from the failed "Let's Be Nice" campaign to the eradication of squeegee men,. Finally, Lionel rails against the horrors of cruise ships—preferring to "lick a belt sander" than endure norovirus and forced fun,—and interviews a bartender who claims to be a "functional" alcoholic. Joe Concha goes to war with "woke" culture in this no-holds-barred breakdown of the decline of American cities and the hypocrisy of the elite. Joe takes a torch to the socialist policies of NYC leadership, blasting the push for "free stuff" while the city faces a $13 billion deficit and streets piled high with snow. From Billie Eilish preaching about "stolen land" from her gated mansion to Bad Bunny's anti-ICE antics, Joe exposes the disconnect between Hollywood celebrities and reality. Plus, Joe roasts the media's "D-Team"—including Joy Reid's ignorance on deportation stats and Don Lemon's stunning lack of self-awareness—and cheers on Bill Maher for finally silencing the radical left. Send us a textEARLY PATREON RELEASE- In 1982 the first of the Poltergeist trilogy movies was released. In a scene nearing the end of the movie, the mother of the Freeling family, Diane, is dragged into the in ground pool, where she is surrounded by skeletons floating to the surface. At this time, in Hollywood, it was said to have been cheaper to fly in ACTUAL human skeletons, instead of buying synthetic. And, that scene would be believed to be the catalyst to what some would deem The Poltergeist Curse, because what would follow would be a series of untimely, horrific and downright strange deaths of actors who were involved in one or all of the Poltergeist films. This case does involve severe domestic assault and the death of a child, so please listen with care.Support the showIf you're interested in receiving bonus episodes, early release dates, an everything scary sticker and ‘thank you' as well as a shout out on our regular feed! Some of the most powerful ideas in marketing don't come from marketing at all. They come from stories that refuse to play it safe. That's the lesson of Dune, the sci-fi epic once considered unfilmable and now one of the most successful franchises of the decade. In this episode, we break down its marketing lessons with the help of our special guest Madhav Bhandari, Head of Marketing at Storylane.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from world-building, pattern interruptions, and betting on emerging talent.About our guest, Madhav BhandariMadhav Bhandari is the Head of Marketing at Storylane. He's a a B2B marketer with 12+ years of experience helping startups grow from scrappy beginnings ($2M+ ARR) to category leadership ($20M+ ARR and beyond). Madhav built lean, high-performing marketing engines across both PLG / sales-led companies. His strength and philosophy is doing marketing that stands out. I focus on work that drives action and ties directly to pipeline.Madhav has helped many scale-ups grow beyond $10M ARR, either as a full-time leader or a hands-on advisor. I love taking on this challenge. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Dune:Show the product, don't narrate it. Madhav's first lesson from Dune is about restraint. The film works because it removes exposition and lets the audience experience the world firsthand. He draws a direct parallel to B2B marketing, saying, “ You've seen the B2B website homepages that are just full of jargon. And I think now is the time to actually show the product.” Too many B2B teams rely on jargon, stock imagery, and abstract claims, forcing buyers to imagine value. The takeaway is simple: remove the guesswork. Interactive demos, real visuals, and tangible experiences outperform explanations every time. If buyers have to imagine what your product does, you've already added friction.Go where the work is unpopular but important. In Dune, the most valuable resource in the universe lives in the most unremarkable place. Madhav says, “ Unpopular but important projects, that's where the largest customer growth lies.” In marketing, that means resisting the pull of flashy homepage redesigns and brand exercises when the real leverage sits deeper, product pages, conversion paths, and messy parts of the funnel no one wants to own. If everyone wants to work on it, it's probably already optimized. The real upside lives where attention is scarce.Bet on emerging voices, not just famous ones. Dune didn't rely on a single A-list star to succeed, and Madhav has seen the same dynamic play out in B2B. His experience is clear: “ anytime I've gone with… a very popular influencer… that I interviewed, those episodes the way I thought they would perform, didn't really perform that well. Bu what's funny is that the people that are relatively unpopular but have done incredible work are the episodes that did fantastic.” Big names feel safe, but they're expensive and often underdeliver. Audiences respond more to sharp thinking and real experience than borrowed fame. In B2B, the fastest way to build trust is to help your audience discover someone worth listening to, before everyone else does.Quote“ Today, in our world, sameness is risky… The worst that could happen … is it's gonna perform the same as if you would've not done that, and the best case scenario is it's just gonna do insanely well.” Time Stamps[01:03] Meet Madhav Bhandari, Head of Marketing at Storylane01:08 Why Dune?01:51 Role of Head of Marketing at Storylane02:37 Breaking Down Dune10:53 B2B Marketing Takeaways from Dune25:18 Influencer Campaign Strategies28:28 The Power of Brand Awareness31:12 Storylane's Marketing Strategy35:08 Creative Marketing Examples38:37 Content Strategy and Founder Branding45:25 Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Madhav on LinkedInLearn more about StorylaneAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. - A prediction sets the tone as the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show is framed as spectacle-driven messaging rather than mass entertainment. - Grammy Awards speeches and performances are cited as examples of celebrity politics replacing serious discussion. - Immigration slogans from entertainers are contrasted with the experiences of families harmed by crimes tied to illegal immigration. - Don Lemon's church protest arrest is examined as a clear legal violation that receives sympathetic coverage from legacy media. On the surface, the 25th Amendment is a perfect mechanism for providing a stable transition of Presidential power. But that's not what early state ratification critics thought. And it's not how Hollywood writers oft envision it. When debating the 25th amendment to the US Constitution, one state legislator called it rushing "pell-mell into madness." Another said it did not complete the very purpose it intended and should go back to Congress for fixing. And still another said it has a huge hole around the vice presidency. These state quibbles were enough for a scare, but the states ratified anyway, in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis and a bipartisan push. But were the arguments valid? Although the 25th is designed to potentially remove a President, it is also designed to avoid doing that if at all possible. It was written by politicians to avoid politics, and as several TV and movie writers have found, it could create lots of politics. If you find it confusing, you aren't alone. Some opponents during its ratification took a look at what came out of the hard work of Sen. Kefauver and Bayh and said - why was it written this way? And not all their criticisms were answered. In this episode we look at the 25th and objections raised in Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Colorado that might have sunk the amendment. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Coree Moreno is a renowned hair artist who regularly works on editorial and red-carpet events, including the MET Gala. Some of his impressive celebrity roster includes Zendaya, Queen Latifah, Natasha Lyonne, Lil Nas X, and more. But how did someone who began doing hair at 13 in PG County come to sculpt hair for Hollywood's A-List? Coree grew up as a creative and inquisitive child who had a front-row seat to his mom's hair rituals. Before graduating from high school, he was preparing to enroll in cosmetology school. Besides experimenting with colors and cuts on himself, he served prominent women from his community. Working with elite Black professionals in PG County provided Coree a foundation for working with chic women with very high standards, which he would build on in Hollywood. Coree's expansion to L.A. was the result of a bold DM to the iconic Vernon François, stating his interest and availability to assist when the opportunity arises. The opportunity arose two weeks after he sent the DM, and he was assisting Vernon with Serena Williams' hair on a W Magazine set. When Coree describes how supportive his family was about his decision to pursue hair full-time and when he came out, it's clear why he's so confidently chased his dreams around the globe. During our chat, Coree talks about developing his artistic point of view over the past 18 years. We also discussed current hairstyle culture, and what he thinks about new hair rules and the changing relationships between clients and stylists. I couldn't miss an opportunity to get Coree's professional opinion on Black Girl Haircare 101, like the best edge styling products, the steps to a great silk press, fixing breakage, and his protective style hot takes. We got personal and explored how yoga changed his life, his favorite escapist video games, and why working with Lil Nas X was one of his most iconic creative assignments. Unbelievably, this is Coree's first podcast interview, but with his breadth of knowledge and desire to pour into the next generation of stylists, we know it is the first of many.Tune in as we discuss:(5:00) His Mom's 90s Beauty Practices(5:20) Why Hairstylists Are Losing Recipes(10:45) How A Cold DM to Vernon François Led Him To Assisiting In LA(13:40) What He's Learned Working With Talent On Set(17:15) What Working With Queen Latifah Is Like(23:29) Products & Tools To Lay Edges By Texture(25:45) How To Fortify Your Silk Press(29:33) Achieving A Press With One Pass(30:55) Tips For Fixing Breakage(34:16) How To Blend Stubborn Leave Out(35:30) Best Protective Style For Growth(37:45) Most Damaging Protective Style(39:00) How To Protect Your Scalp In Braids(40:05) A Hair Steam Trick When Wearing Synthetic Hair(47:35) Why Yoga Has Been So Transformative Personally & Professionally(58:31) When Coree Feels The Most BeautifulRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support. EPISODE 125 - “VIRGINIA MAYO: CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD STAR OF THE MONTH” - 2/02/2026 One of the most glamorous actresses in old Hollywood undoubtedly was VIRGINIA MAYO. This peaches-and-cream, midwestern beauty started her career wrangling two men in a horse costume on stage before being discovered by producer SAMUEL GOLDWYN and transformed into a full-blown movie star. Often playing the fantasy girl to leading men like BOB HOPE and DANNY KAYE, her beauty sometimes made people miss the fact that she was a very capable actress — particularly when she played bad girls in films like “The Best Years of Our Lives” and “White Heat.” She was very adept at light comedy, romance films, and drama, appearing in over 50 feature films and many television shows throughout her career. And tune in to find out about Steve's connection to this old Hollywood glamour girl as we celebrate Mayo as our February Star of the Month. Hollywood's Headlines includes the success of the Stadium Series in Tampa Bay and the announcement of NBA All-Star reserves with LeBron James and Kevin Durant making the cut. Joe weighs in on the backlash LeBron faces for political reasons, while the drama around Belichick's girlfriend Jordon Hudson planning a party the same night as the Hall of Fame ceremony gets discussed. The segment also touches on an Alabama basketball player returning from the G League and Punxsutawney Phil predicting six more weeks of winter.
Joe and Hollywood react to Jason Kidd ripping a reporter and continue their takedown of Palm Beach Post writer Joe Schad, while NBA trade rumors heat up with Miami at the center of Giannis chatter. They question why Kel'el Ware isn't seeing more playing time, while also debating the Warriors' chances of landing Giannis (or lack thereof). The segment touches on the Panthers being outside playoff contention, previews the Winter Olympic hockey season with several Panthers set to compete, and wraps with a look ahead to the Super Bowl, noting that it's refreshing to see a matchup that doesn't feature Mahomes every year.
Omar Kelly joins to break down the Dolphins' quarterback situation, highlighting the pursuit of Malik Willis, the potential of Quinn Ewers, and the impact of Tua's lingering arm issues. Joe and Hollywood react to Jason Kidd ripping a reporter and continue their takedown of Palm Beach Post writer Joe Schad. The conversation turns to Miami-centered Giannis trade rumors, Jaime Jaquez's steady improvement, and the perplexing lack of playing time for Kel'el Ware. They also preview the Panthers' season struggles, discuss key players headed to the Winter Olympics, and wrap with a Super Bowl preview that notes it's refreshing to see a matchup without Mahomes.
Joe and the crew cover a full slate of South Florida sports, from the Heat's dominant win over the Bulls and swirling Giannis trade rumors to the Panthers struggling without Aleksander Barkov as players prepare for the Winter Olympics. Dolphins quarterback uncertainty takes center stage, with Omar Kelly and the team breaking down the pursuit of Malik Willis, Quinn Ewers' potential, and lingering questions around Tua Tagovailoa's health. NFL Draft chatter, coaching hires, and broader league topics—including an 18th game, coaching diversity, and organizational dysfunction—get plenty of attention, while Hollywood's Headlines and lighter segments highlight the Australian Open, wild iguanas, and curious sports news.
Hour 2 dives into the NFL Draft and the Senior Bowl, with Joe noting that the league only cares about talent, not where a player came from or how much NIL money they made. The crew debates the Dolphins' draft hopes, especially if Rueben Bain or Francis Mauigoa fall to pick 11, while also breaking down Kel'el Ware's true value amid Heat trade buzz and Giannis potentially viewing Miami as an attractive landing spot. The conversation shifts to the struggling Panthers missing Aleksander Barkov as players prepare for the Olympics, and returns to the Dolphins' quarterback uncertainty, with a thin QB draft class and college players now earning big NIL money complicating the hunt for a franchise passer.
On November 7, 1980, Steve McQueen — the massive movie star whose minimalist swagger earned him the nickname “The King of Cool” — died at the age of 50 following complications from cancer surgery. A countercultural icon who bridged old Hollywood and the rebellious New Hollywood era, McQueen embodied a new kind of leading man: taciturn, restless, and unmistakably modern. From his breakout role in The Magnificent Seven to era-defining performances in Bullitt, The Great Escape, and Papillon, McQueen reshaped action cinema with a raw physicality and anti-authoritarian edge that made him one of the biggest stars in the world. If the movies you're seeing lately feel like they were assembled by a committee rather than a creator, you're looking at the wrong side of the lens. We are dusting off a classic format today, leaning into the kind of raw film breakdowns we used to live for. The spotlight is on two heavyweights: Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme and Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another. Both of these pictures have just locked in Best Picture nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards, and it feels like a signal fire. After years of franchise fatigue and focus-tested safety, we are looking at a lineup that suggests great, uncompromising cinema is finally clawing its way back to the center of the frame. Fair warning: we aren't holding anything back here, so consider this a total spoiler warning. We are going deep into the structure, the endings, and the technical magic tricks that make these films work: from the anxiety-inducing rhythm of Safdie's 1950s ping pong subculture to Anderson's mastery of the long-lens Mojave car chase. This year's nominations feel like a turning point, a collective realization that the audience is hungry for movies that challenge them rather than just pat them on the back. It's a look at why the "cavalry isn't coming" for Hollywood, and why that might be the best news we've heard in decades for anyone who actually cares about the craft of visual storytelling. //links// Monstrous Moonshine > Marty Supreme Trailer > One Battle After Another Trailer > Original Ending of Marty Supreme > This episode is sponsored by: Center Grid Virtual Studio Kitbash 3D (Use promocode "cggarage" for 10% off)

CannCon and Zak Paine break down a packed Badlands Daily covering the unraveling media narrative and escalating unrest tied to ICE enforcement. The show opens with an in-depth examination of Don Lemon's arrest, the media's attempt to reframe him as a persecuted journalist, and direct comparisons to the treatment of January 6 defendants. From there, the conversation expands into ongoing ICE protests across Los Angeles, Minnesota, and New York, including traffic blockades, attacks on media crews, and the growing use of children in politically charged demonstrations and school walkouts. The hosts also dig into newly released Epstein-related emails, unpacking disturbing claims involving powerful political figures, intelligence connections, and foreign interference. Additional segments cover massive overseas cash transfers out of U.S. airports, the financial collapse of the DNC heading into 2026, Hollywood backlash over the Melania documentary's box office success, and rising public pushback against establishment narratives. The episode closes with a clear throughline: selective enforcement, narrative control, and the consequences now coming into focus.
