Today, we explore Joshua 3:1-16, a powerful passage that teaches us how to respond when we face seemingly impossible situations. Just as the Israelites stood before the flooded Jordan River, we often encounter barriers in life that seem insurmountable. But through faith, preparation, and obedience, we can witness God's power at work in our lives. Let's dive into the study and discover how Joshua's experience can encourage and guide us in our own challenges.Study Notes:1. Facing an Impossible Situation (Joshua 3:1-4)Lesson: When facing challenges, we must keep our eyes on God's presence and trust His guidance, rather than relying on our own understanding.2. Preparing for the Miracle (Joshua 3:5-6)Lesson: Spiritual preparation—through confession, sanctification, and focusing on God—positions us to experience His power in our lives.3. God's Promise to Joshua (Joshua 3:7-13)Lesson: True faith requires action. We often have to step out in obedience before we see the results of God's promises.4. The Miracle at the Jordan (Joshua 3:14-16)Lesson: God specializes in doing the impossible, but He calls us to trust Him fully before we see the outcome.Application Questions:What "impossible" situation are you currently facing? How can you focus on God's presence rather than the problem? In what ways can you spiritually prepare yourself for God's work in your life? Are you willing to take a step of faith even before you see the outcome? What might that look like in your circumstances? How does Joshua's leadership and trust in God inspire you in your own faith journey?Key Takeaways:Keep your eyes on God – He is the one leading the way.Prepare your heart – Sanctify yourself to be ready for God's work.Step out in faith – Obedience often precedes miracles.Trust God's timing – His plan may not always be immediate, but it is always perfect. As we reflect on this passage, may we be reminded that no situation is truly impossible when we trust in the Lord. Whatever challenges you are facing today, step forward in faith, knowing that God goes before you.BlessinFaith That Challenges. Conversations that Matter. Laughs included. Today we talk with John Stadtmueller, the Founder of Good Advisors Finish First, an independent network of financial advisors committed to pursuing better client outcomes as a community. John shares with us the four core values of the community, highlights the need for innovative thinking, open-mindedness, and a more collaborative approach in addressing industry needs, and gives an example of how a community approach to solving problems helps everyone grow and succeed. In this episode, Rob, Phil, and John delve into:Focusing on being better for your clients. Why you should be radically open-minded. Communicating your value and your value proposition to your clients and potential clients. Pursuing better client outcomes as part of an advisor community. The two biggest mistakes that prevent advisors from being a great advisor. Key Takeaways: Keep your focus on the good. Your business is about more than just apologizing for the industry, it is about delivering value to your clients. Share openly with your peers. As an advisor, drive the conversation and bring in third parties when it makes sense. Advisors make huge differences in the communities they serve and in the causes they care about. Purpose-focused advisors give back. Learn from everyone, follow no one. There is no one right way to do things. You don't have to give a choice - you can give your best advice. “A huge miss that a lot of advisors have is just being open to saying ‘I don't know,' because you're probably not going to know everything. You're not going to be an expert. A big thing that we all talk about is finding your niche and really owning who you are, and what you can deliver in terms of value, and then being open and willing to take help. Rather you're finding those resources that can help you deliver that better result for the clients rather than trying to scramble and pretend that you know everything.” – John StadtmuellerAbout John Stadtmueller: After a 20 year career in the financial services industry, predominantly in roles supporting financial advisors, John Stadtmueller created a movement to demonstrate “Good Advisors Finish First." Two years later, John doubled down on his passion to pursue this cause by leaving a comfortable job in Corporate America and began building the Good Advisors Finish First (GAFF) Community. In this episode of the Private Practice Elevation Podcast, we are delving deep into the art of crafting an effective and high-converting contact page for your private practice website.    Your private practice website is more than just an online presence or an online business card. It is your gateway to connecting with clients, helping them find the support they need, and ultimately growing your private practice.    At the heart of this journey lies your contact page, a crucial element in the conversion process on your website.    Your contact page is where visitors take that crucial step of reaching out and booking appointments or learning more about your practice.    It is not just about design; it is about creating a seamless, inviting experience that encourages visitors to take action.    In this episode, Daniel Fava explores ten tips to help you create a seamless and inviting contact page that encourages visitors to take that crucial step of reaching out and booking appointments or learning more about your therapy practice.   Key Takeaways: Keep the contact page simple and inviting to avoid overwhelming visitors. Prioritize the contact form by prominently displaying it above the fold. Create an engaging headline that incites action and leads visitors to the contact form. Provide multiple contact options, such as phone, email, and a contact form, to cater to different preferences. Add trust-building elements, such as testimonials or certifications, to instill confidence in visitors. Use a clear call to action on buttons to let visitors know what will happen when they click. Optimize the contact page for mobile devices to accommodate the majority of users. Ensure privacy and security by mentioning your commitment to privacy and using SSL encryption. Implement CAPTCHA or other spam protection measures to prevent unwanted submissions. Test and monitor the contact page to track conversions and make improvements over time.   This Episode Is Brought To You By   Alma is on a mission to simplify access to high-quality, affordable mental health care by giving providers the tools they need to build thriving in-network private practices. Keep it Simple and Inviting The first rule of an effective contact page is to keep it simple.    We want to create a clean and uncluttered design that invites visitors in and makes it clear what they need to do on the page. Look at other websites, both within your industry and outside of it, to get ideas on how to create a simple and inviting contact page.    The goal is to make it easy for visitors to understand what they need to do and to lead them into taking that next step. 2. Prioritize the Form The contact form is the main attraction of your contact page. It should be prominently displayed, preferably above the fold, so that visitors can easily find it without scrolling down. Include fields for name, email, phone number, and a message box for longer messages.    Over time, you can customize the form to fit the specific needs of your practice, such as asking for the best time to call back for a consultation. The key is to keep the form simple and efficient for your practice. 3. Create an Engaging Headline At the top of your contact page, create an engaging headline that invites action. This could be something like "Ready to take the first step towards a happier you?" or "Get in touch to schedule your free consultation."    The goal is to incite action and lead visitors to the contact form, which should be prominently displayed right below the headline. 4. Provide Multiple Contact Options While the contact form is the main focus of your contact page, it is important to offer multiple contact options to cater to different preferences.    Some visitors may prefer speaking directly, while others may be more comfortable with written communication.    Along with the contact form, include options such as phone, email, and even a link to your Google Business profile. This allows visitors to choose the method of contact that they are most comfortable with.   5. Add Trust Building Elements Building trust is crucial in encouraging visitors to take that next step and reach out. Consider adding trust-building elements to your contact page, such as testimonials, certifications, or social proof.    Testimonials from past clients can help potential clients feel more confident in reaching out, knowing that others have had positive experiences with your practice.    Certifications and social proof, such as being featured on reputable websites or podcasts, can also help build trust. 6. Use a Clear Call to Action Your contact page should have a clear call to action on the button that leads visitors to take the next step.    Use phrases like "Get started" or "Request an appointment" to make it clear what will happen when the button is clicked. Avoid being too creative or fancy with the call to action; simplicity is key.    Make sure the button stands out against the rest of the page and is easy to click, especially on mobile devices. 7. Optimize for Mobile With the majority of people accessing websites from their smartphones, it is crucial to optimize your contact page for mobile devices.    Ensure that your contact page and the form are fully responsive, easy to navigate, and function seamlessly on mobile devices.    Test the contact form on your own phone and ask others to do the same to ensure a smooth user experience. 8. Privacy and Security Visitors to your website need to feel confident that their information is secure and will not be shared without their consent. Mention your commitment to privacy and include a link to your privacy policy under the contact form. Additionally, make sure your website is secure with an SSL certificate to encrypt information that is submitted through the contact form. 9. CAPTCHA and Spam Protection Implementing CAPTCHA or other spam protection measures on your contact form is essential to prevent unwanted submissions and maintain the quality of inquiries. CAPTCHA helps filter out bots that try to spam your contact form by requiring users to complete a simple math equation. This ensures that only genuine inquiries are submitted through the form. 10. Test and Monitor After implementing these tips, it is important to test and monitor the performance of your contact page.    Use tools like Google Analytics to track user behavior and conversion rates. Monitor how many people land on your contact page and how many actually submit the form.    This data will give you insights into the effectiveness of your contact page and help you make any necessary adjustments. Conclusion Crafting an effective and high-converting contact page is crucial for growing your private practice.    By keeping it simple and inviting, prioritizing the form, providing multiple contact options, adding trust building elements, using a clear call to action, optimizing for mobile, ensuring privacy and security, implementing CAPTCHA and spam protection, and testing and monitoring the performance, you can create a contact page that encourages visitors to take that crucial step of reaching out.    Continuously evaluate and improve your contact page to maximize conversions and grow your practice.

Back by popular demand...this replay of one of my earliest podcast interviews deserves to be shared again, in case you missed it or because it it time to listen again. What a treat! My good friend Tony Corbell and I have a rich discussion about lighting, the importance of quality for the profitable photographer, and much more. He has photographed or taught photographic technical skills over 700 times in more than 20 countries and world capitals as well as in all fifty US states. In his more than 40 years in photography, he has photographed some of the most recognized faces including three US presidents, world leaders at the United Nations, fashion models, celebrities, NASA astronauts, and he has so much wisdom to share. In this episode, Luci and Tony discuss:Tony's career journey from never owning a camera to now photographing prominent leaders and celebrities.Tips and takeaways on light in photography. The importance of having a light meter, even with all of the new technologies that we have today.Key Takeaways:Keep your notes clean and keep the trust of your clients. You may earn a couple bucks by selling the photos, but you won't keep the trust of those you photograph.Understanding how the size of your light source factors into each and every shoot you do is key.People are always watching, make sure you look and act professional in all aspects during the entire photography session.“The size of a light source is directly relative to its distance from the sun.” — Tony CorbellConnect with Tony Corbell:Facebook: Corbell Photographic WorkshopsWebsite: TonyCorbell.comEmail: Tony@TonyCorbell.comInstagram: @corbellworkshopsPhotography Business Coach Luci Dumas' Programs and Contact Info:lucidumascoaching.comluci@lucidumas.comhttps://www.instagram.com/theprofitablephotographer_pod/https://www.facebook.com/LuciDumasCoachinghttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCut3Qk6t6Z2DUJYEYGSCfKA

Effective Advocacy in Markman Claim Construction Proceedings with Michael Friedland

We're taking a critical look at one of the most important parts of a patent case: claim construction. Michael Friedland, co-chair of Knobbe Martens' litigation practice group, is uniquely qualified to help us unpack claim construction, advocacy, and the importance of natural language—utilizing plain and ordinary meanings when urging proposed constructions of disputed claim language. In this episode, Jeff Harty and Michael Friedland discuss: The role of claim construction in a patent dispute. Balancing the simplification of technology so a judge can understand it without simplifying to the point of inaccuracy. Knowing your audience and changing your approach to the court. The role of expert testimony in claim construction (and when not to use an expert). Key Takeaways: Keep it clear, keep it simple, and work together with the court to sort out any confusion regarding the relevant technology and to adopt the proper interpretation of the claim language. Start giving claim construction serious thought when you first look into the case, even before it is filed. A good brief can help somebody pick which claim construction to use and help them get it right. The simpler claim construction is often the one that wins. An expert is someone outside your control and can cause confusion when it wasn't necessary based on the record you already have. “I want whatever we are doing to seem simple, natural, and not contrived.” —Michael Friedland   About Michael Friedland: Mike has three decades of intellectual property enforcement experience and is the co-chair of Knobbe Martens' litigation practice group. Since 2000, he has represented clients in more than 200 intellectual property cases in courts in California and 21 other states.Focused on patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright matters, Mike's cases have spanned a range of industries and technologies, including consumer products, semiconductors, tactical products, medical devices, computer software, apparel, restaurants, and financial services. He has represented brand-name companies including Oakley, Luxottica, ITT, Makita, Pacific Life Insurance Company, Carl's Jr., Microsemi, NASCAR, Daytona International Speedway, Game Show Network, Razor, Volcom, Specialized Bicycle, Mexicana Airlines, and SRS Labs.Mike is the secretary of the Harvard Law School Association and a member of its executive committee. He is a co-founder and former president of the Harvard Law School Association of Orange County. He is a member of INTA's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. Mike has taught as an adjunct professor at the Whittier School of Law and served as a JAG officer with the California State Military Reserve. In this episode, The Annuity Man and Rick Ferri discuss:  The Bogle-Head philosophy in investing Access to good financial advice  The urgency of getting serious with retirement Implementing a plan for your own life    Key Takeaways:  Keep it simple, keep it low cost, and keep it low tax. Use index funds when you can because the performance of active funds that are trying to outperform the indices is not very good, and this historically goes back 100 years.  People don't really have a lot of access to good financial advice as there aren't a lot of advisors willing to get paid just for giving advice. To enhance your financial literacy, you have to find real advisors, surround yourself with a community, or educate yourself through the abundance of free information available right now on the internet.  If you're getting ready to retire in the next few months or so, you'll need to make a decision. You need to learn and understand everything you have to make an informed decision about your retirement day.  The world economy might go through a lot of slow pain, but what's important is that you have a plan you can implement for your own life. Keep it simple, as always. Fluctuations will always be there; you have to look through to the other side.    "Come up with a sense of a plan. Implement it. Keep your costs down. Keep your taxes down, stay the course, and you'll be fine. That's it. Don't worry about the day-to-day fluctuations there. They're always there, they've always been there, and they're always going to be there." —  Rick Ferri.             The John C. Dr. Fields Said: We're all going to die, so we may as well die doing what we love. As long as you have a goal, you've got something to look forward to. Once you reach that goal, you want to establish another goal. Mentorship has been a chance to share my story and get the word out to cancer patients that diagnosis is not the end of life; it's the beginning. Don't attempt the cancer journey by yourself. Always have somebody you can turn to that will share experiences with you. Be knowledgeable about the cancer. You constantly feel the fatigue associated with the leukemia. 101: What Else? The Powerful Question To Attract Even More Luck And AbundanceWe all go through stages of feeling bad about ourselves. Do you have those days when you are convinced that everything you do is crap? And you are never going to make it anyway so why bother anyway?(2:25-2:38) Start with “I'm proud of” and all the important question is “What else?”. Now you have to keep asking yourself that question until you have 50 success.(2:43-2:56) Or something that you can talk about positively and celebrate it. I would say something like wins, having big wins. So you can do this exercise at any time.(3:21-3:30) The list of, I would say, wins is important. But the question “What else?” is extremely important.  (4:26-4:27) Keep celebrating.(4:40-4:44) Keep asking and keep asking and don't give up.(4:46-5:07) I would say bragging, celebrating your success, celebrating small wins, is good for you. It's emotional health, my dear. It's awesome to remember everything. It's great for manifesting to acknowledge your wins. Big and small so that you can attract. (5:12-5:47) Work on a mix of business and personal. As long as you get 30 to 50 good things. Now if you do this by yourself, eventually you'll run out of steam or you just get distracted by your handphone notifications and move on to something else. For best results, you need me to be with you. Book a coaching call with me http://www.soulrichwoman.com/clarity-call or you need a partner to hold the space to gently ask you “What else?”.(6:14-6:16) Now here are just some of mine:(6:17-6:26) Number 1, we have created our program that is funded by our government, what we called Skills Future Credit.(6:38-6:46) Two, our podcast has now listeners and followers in 56 countries within a single year.(7:17-7:28) Share it with me, okay? I will love to hear them. And next time when you're having a bad day, have a read over everything that's awesome that you've accomplished.(7:31-7:39) Imagine me right now saying to you this “What else?” every time you get stuck.(7:46-8:12) Money blocks and being a Soul Rich Woman blueprint are just an important topic for female entrepreneurs and women leaders and we all have a responsibility to clear them and not just for ourselves but for the rest of our communities as well. We all have a part to play in this. This is your time and you are ready for the next step. The more you take action in a consistent way, the faster you build momentum and really grow your business.Key Takeaways: Keep asking yourself  “What else?” List up to 50 successes you've accomplished. Zach Slobin, Madly in love with his wife. Natural philosopher. And producer of his own life. These three things pretty much sum up Zach Slobin and his insatiable desire to knock, question the everyday rules and then bend life to create massive freedom, joy, and abundance. After weathering life’s natural ups and downs, being lost in “finding his purpose,” and navigating through the inevitable entrepreneurial storms, he can tell you the stories of hitting several physical, emotional, spiritual and financial bottoms. He’s the athlete who almost went pro, but severe injuries kept him from his dream. He’s the top guy who walked away from a good corporate job (and the money), because it was suffocating. He’s the man who wouldn’t settle until he found his soulmate. And he’s the entrepreneur who was so committed to excellence, he created financial freedom in his early 30’s. Grateful for the lessons all the losses have taught him, one thing is for sure–he can show you how you to play the game of life and win it. As a Master Speaker, Trainer and Coach, Zach’s greatest thrill in life is showing people how to go from where they are to where they deserve to be by removing the BS lies they tell themselves, so they can be, do and have ANYTHING they desire. Sometimes we get excited about an idea, we follow through on a goal, and are very successful at it. But while everything should be peaches and cream, we realize that this isn't the happy reality we thought it would be. Or maybe our feelings and values have simply changed. That is when we are faced with the problem of "what do we do next?" In this episode, we ask our guest, Naomi Rotstein, why she decided to leave her successful career as a competitive body-builder and how she went about redefining her new objective and, ultimately, created a freer and more satisfying life. Key Takeaways: Keep an eye out for warning signs that what you have achieved isn’t healthy or sustainable. Using your willpower can be addictive… not in a good way. Even if you have a history of being a bit of a control freak, you can learn to relax and shake that all-or-nothing mentality. You can change the values of your goals to make them more sustainable, without abandoning them altogether. Sometimes we can’t see what’s next until we clear away what is here. Lab Experiment: Take a look at your current goals and consider whether they are truly allowing you to live your best life. If this goal is no longer what you want, stop pursuing it. Think about your perfect life or your ideal day, what would you want to be doing? What are three steps you could take that would bring you closer to your ideal life? Which one of those steps could you take this week?

COVID-19 has made a focus on the fundamentals of data literacy and accuracy more crucial than ever, Bane Care Management Director of Data and Performance Analytics Tim Carey argues in this week's podcast Covid-19 has had a dramatic effect on in-person care in the US healthcare system and the simultaneous shake-up of data priorities has been no less extreme. Responding to the changes has been a key priority for Bane Care Management's Director of Data and Performance Analytics, Tim Carey, in the last six months as he explains in this week's episode of the Business of Data podcast. “Pre-Covid-19 we were sending huge data dump files with tons of metrics,” he says. “Is 95% of that even being used? If the answer is no, then why are we doing it? This reevaluation of data priorities has brought the immediate need for relevant, understandable metrics for healthcare practitioners into sharp relief. “Our motto is ‘keep it simple',” he explains. “Have the data in a graph that is visually easy to comprehend. So, within 3–5 seconds you know exactly what that graph is telling you.” Carey thinks that although the benefits of advanced technologies like AI and advanced analytics have promise, they need to be relatable to people at the level of clinics and hospitals. “I think there is a lot of work to be done in healthcare,” he says. “When you look at other industries it feels that they are light-years ahead.” While some healthcare companies may be doing revolutionary work in data and analytics at the corporate level, the models are rarely operational at the level of clinics and hospitals. “[these technologies] need to be a lot easier for people to comprehend,” he concludes. “The benefits have to trickle down to the people who are closest to the work.” Key Takeaways •Keep it simple. Focusing on understandable data and relevant metrics will help end-users better contextualize their place in the wider business picture •Take it back to basics. A focus on the fundamentals of data literacy and accuracy will provide a solid base to grow on •Reevaluate your tools. Has your Electronic Medical Records system (EMR) kept up with the times? If not, it may be bottlenecking the analytical capability of your teams.

Managing Monthly Expenses with Cody & Justin

In today's episode, Cody and Justin take you on a behind the scenes tour of their monthly budgets. For some context, Cody is 23 and moving to Boston in September and Justin is 29 living in Boston with his girlfriend. Neither of them has kids. It's also important to note that despite their low monthly expenses, Justin and Cody do not feel deprived whatsoever. They're both enjoying life to the fullest. Ready to nerd out on some numbers? Let's dive in. Housing Justin - Currently paying $837 per person in Boston for a 2BR apartment. Cody - Paying $600 to share a room in Boston in a 3BR apartment with three roommates. Both Justin and Cody do an extensive amount of research before committing to a housing arrangement. Transportation Cody - Spends approximately $225 per month for gas and maintenance on his paid-off Nissan Frontier. Justin - A whopping $110 per month despite owning both a car and a truck... in a big city! The absence of a car payment or lease drastically reduces the cost of transportation each month. Food Justin - Spends $60 per month on groceries and ~$100 on all other food-related items (including alcohol) for a total of $160. Cody - Grocery expenses are typically around $110 and eating out / alcohol come in at about $190 for a total of $300. Justin and Cody are able to keep their food costs down by buying only primarily on-sale lean meat and vegetables and cooking 90%+ of the time. Entertainment/Travel Cody - Total monthly expenditure is around $400 per month. Justin - Spends about $300 per month in this category. Both Cody and Justin agree that experiences are 10x more valuable than material possessions. That's why they allocate a fairly large portion of their budget toward this category! They also take advantage of credit card rewards to gain free flights and airport perks. Miscellaneous Although it was hard to pin down exact numbers, Justin and Cody do have a miscellaneous category. Basically, anything that doesn't fit into the four categories above makes it into this one. Recently, Cody and Justin have started to focus more on quality instead of just buying the cheapest option possible. Key Takeaways Keep the big expenses low: Since Cody and Justin keep housing, transportation, and food low, they have a lot more flexibility when it comes to the fun categories (a.k.a. entertainment and miscellaneous) Do the extra research: One of the reasons why Justin and Cody are able to keep their monthly expenses low is because they are willing to put in a little bit of extra work to find a deal. Income Matters: Both hosts understand that saving isn't everything. If you're having trouble saving because your income is simply too low, consider starting a side hustle or figuring out ways to move up in your current role. Calls to Action Justin: Do you remember what you ate for lunch last Tuesday? Probably not. Figure out what other "Tuesday lunches" you have in your life and cut those out as much as possible. Cody: Lifestyle inflation is one of the sneakiest enemies of financial independence. Start experimenting for a week (or more) at a time and cut different things out of your budget. We often carry a lot of mental luggage around and don’t realize it.   Today's featured author is ordained minister, Rev. Jacqueline Goodwin. Jacqueline and I talk about her book, her healing that led to the title of the book and tons more!!   Key Takeaways: Keep it both physically and spiritually fit. Look at the simple things around us that we take for granted and be grateful for them. Failure is never final. There is always purpose in your pain. Sometimes you need to “go into shutdown” by giving yourself moments of silence from outside noise and fasting to receive physical healing.   Rev.
