I see his posts just about every day and every one of them gets me thinking. This one (as I share from him again), I hope gets you thinking too. You see, we all have excuses in our lives as to why we don't do more, become better, try something new, finish something, etc., and Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) reminds us this about those excuses:  “Contrary to what many believe and practice, you can NEVER ‘excuse' your way out of a situation. You can go from failure to success, but never excuses. End your excuses and over time, correct your outcome.”  Now, those were his thoughts on this quote he shared: “You can't excuse your way out - you can only adjust your way out.  You can go from failure to success, but you can't go from excuses to success.” ~ John Maxwell.  “Drop the excuses if you truly want to change your results.”  This was talking right to me of course as I have way too many excuses in my life and throughout my history, that have all gotten in the way of me being my best version of myself.  I'm going to keep working on this for sure. No other choice. How about you?  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

Found some powerful and emotional connections recently that I wanted to share with you.  First came a post from Gratitude HQ (@gratefuledu64) where we are reminded to “be the reason why people believe in beautiful souls, kind hearts, and good energy. Never stop being a good person.”  This is something I think the world needs now more than ever! This is also connected to @JOLearyInspires and a recent podcast (found HERE) where we are reminded about giving ourselves permission to keep learning and growing while we seek and find our purpose in life. Part of that purpose should be to be good and do good for others.  The movie - “Soul on Fire” has this message too.  Go and see this movie with people you love!  Finally, Mitch Albom and his most recent book, “Twice” is another item that I've assigned as homework for you (it's the teacher in me, sorry) and it's amazing lessons - one of which is to always look and try to be better in our lives!!  Powerful episode here for me - sorry for the blubbering all over the place as I connected this message to traveling up to the university where I first met my wife 40 years ago!!  Also, a breakfast together with classmates from my high school. Visiting my parents recently and spending some time with them. Finally and sadly, a former student of mine passed away and not only did it get me thinking about him - the fun times working with him in my classes, the conversations we had, the laughter that went along with it - but also working with his older brother too in my class and working with his mom and knowing the family. The impact this student made on his classmates and our school community, timeless lessons. It got me thinking of other former students that have passed away, along with former coworkers too and the huge message from all of this - I am a better person for having met all of them!! I hope you have that too in your life.

Years ago, when our oldest son was just a toddler, I (Joanna) was deep in the trenches as a stay-at-home mom. I had become engrossed in motherhood, and my world had shrunk to diaper changes and late-night wakings. I could not imagine the world beyond our front door. While motherhood is absolutely a priceless gift from God, it's important to remember that before we are mothers, we are daughters of the King. Even through the challenges of parenting, He is still inviting us to live out our full calling. Sometimes, what we initially think of as limitations on our lives turn out to be the very things that qualify us for what God is calling us to do next.Helping us explore the challenges and callings of motherhood is Jessica Hurlbut. She's a wife, author, speaker, pastor, and the mom to five kids. She's also the host of The Full Spectrum Parent, a podcast serving parents of autistic children. In this episode, Jessica shares:How God can shift our perspective in this season of lifeLessons she has learned through her children's autism diagnosesEncouragement to see beyond our current limitationsAnd much more!We hope you enjoy this conversation!Show Notes: growinghometogether.com/jessica-hurlbut-117

I  came across a post from UpSkillYourLife (@UpSkillYourLife) and it floored me as to the truth of this statement.  “Reading an hour a day is only 4% of your day. But that 4% will put you at the top of your field within 10 years. Find the time.” - Patrick Bet-David.  I think it's more than just reading - although you will be so much better off if you do the reading. But listening to podcasts, watching videos, meeting with people that are a bit ahead of you in the things you want to do, etc. Self improvement is something we all can control and invest in. Keep it up!!  You will hear how I had to actually check the math on this 4%... and yes.. In this episode, Knica shares a heartwarming story behind Happy Day — a holiday her son created in 2020 to remind everyone to choose joy, no matter the circumstances. Born during one of the most stressful years of her life, Happy Day became a family tradition centered on shifting your mindset and finding gratitude, even when life feels heavy. From there, Knica dives into the main topic: what Olympic weightlifting has taught her — not just about strength and movement, but about life itself. As she prepares for her upcoming competition at her own CrossFit gym, she reflects on the parallels between lifting and sustainable health.Key lessons covered in this episode:Patience pays off — True progress takes time. Rushing only leads to burnout or injury, in lifting and in life.Technique over force — Sometimes, slowing down and focusing on form gets you farther than muscling through.Failure is feedback — Every failed lift (or setback) is an opportunity to learn and refine your approach. You can love something and still struggle with it — Growth often comes from the things that challenge us most.Knica also opens up about how weightlifting has helped her manage stress, protect her hormones during her fertility journey, and reconnect with her love for movement in a more intentional, sustainable way. Before wrapping up, she invites listeners to join The Challenge That Lasts — her monthly group coaching program built around sustainable habits, community, and accountability, especially during the busy holiday season.

EPISODE 18: Life Lessons From My Pitbull : Saying Goodbye to a Pet This episode is a love letter to my dog, Carlin Joseph Peluso, the happiest pitbull on Earth and the longest relationship I've ever had. As I prepare to say goodbye, I reflect on the weird, beautiful process of anticipatory grief and the lessons he's taught me about loyalty, joy, and letting go. It's funny, raw, and full of love because that's what he gave me every single day. In this episode, I share:– What it's like to prepare for loss before it happens– What pets teach us about love, trust, and living in the moment– Why every new loss is a chance to release an old one– The joy and chaos of owning a pitbull– And how to find laughter, even in heartbreak

When the world feels heavy, choosing joy can sound naïve. We think it's the most practical move you can make. In this heartfelt episode, we share how a brutal “year of authenticity” led to a bold decision to claim a “year of joy,” and why that choice reshaped daily life. You'll hear a reading from Small Pearl's Big Wisdom titled We Will Have Joy, then we unpack how gratitude and delight fade without tending, and how to bring them back through simple, repeatable practices. We explore joy as medicine for the soul: the counterweight that steadies your nervous system and expands your perspective during hard seasons. From dance rehearsals that dissolve stress in minutes to tiny present-moment miracles like a dog napping belly-up, we show how nothing outside needs to change for your inner state to shift. Joy doesn't erase facts; it equips you to meet them with more compassion, creativity, and clarity. You'll learn how to set morning intentions, close your day with a quick “what was joyful” check, and use movement, nature, and mindful naming to anchor goodness in real time. This conversation is for anyone who feels stretched thin yet wants a grounded way back to aliveness. We make the case that joy is not a reward for finishing the hard work; it's the fuel that makes the hard work possible. Walk away with practical tools to cultivate joy now, not “someday,” and a gentle nudge to claim even a few drops on the toughest days. If this resonated, tap follow, share it with a friend who needs light today, and leave a review to help more hearts find their way here.Tune in next week for a new episode to support and empower your light--Your Heart Magic is a space where heart wisdom, spirituality, and psychology meet. As usual, there seems to be a lot on my mind throughout the day (and night at times).  I found this simple reminder - simple but not easy to do. From Dr. Jim Afremow (@goldmedalmind) who posted this: “Just win the moment in front of you.”  Again, (a repeated topic) there are so many distractions every day in our lives. More so now than ever before it seems. When we win the moment in front of us - with whatever that might be - good things can happen. We stack more “wins” each day, we have more good days. We pile up more good days, life gets going in a good direction. Notice that it's not about being perfect, it's about being our best. For me, it's a never ending chase and it's something worth working towards for sure. I hope it is for you too.

This actually came across my “news wire” yesterday just about the time where I got off the phone with my buddy Coach Dave Ruekert (@CoachRuekert). It connected with Dave and so many others in my life. The post came from Gary Hensel (@gary_hensel) and the post was this powerful reminder: “Surround Yourself With People Who - Empower you, Believe in you, Support you, Uplift you, Motivate you and Appreciate you.” I am reminded about so many people that help me in so many ways. The list is long. I take something from each of them and I hope I gave them much more than I took from them. My wish for you?  Think about those that are connected to this list. Then, go out of your way to let them know & thank them.
