It always seems, sad as it is, that we humans tend to not only learn lessons from others more so when they are gone, but humans have a sad track record, that looking back throughout history - we don't learn these lessons too well. Now of course this does not mean every single human being throughout history - tons of great people for sure that know and live these lessons. One of the best was Jane Goodall (look her up) and here is a quote from her that really hits home now that she just recently passed. She reminded us that “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”  A conversation that I had with my buddy Coach Dave Ruekert recently, reminded me about the choices we have both made to help others through teaching and coaching. Really got me thinking about how much I need to stay on the journey I'm on and maybe look for different ways of continuing to connect to students and teachers along with athletes and coaches. We all have the ability to make “the world” better, right where we are at. The world needs us to do that for sure.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

Through biblical references, he discusses the inevitability of death and the need to live as if each day could be our last, ultimately urging a focus on eternal values rather than worldly success.TakeawaysLife can change in an instant, reminding us of its fragility. We should live with the awareness of our mortality.Death is a certainty that we all must face. Our lives are like a vapor, here one moment and gone the next.Living like we're dying encourages us to make meaningful choices.Eternity is real, and we should consider our eternal destination.Success should not be measured by worldly standards. We need to invest in our souls and spiritual well-being.Trusting God is essential in navigating life's uncertainties.Living fully means prioritizing what truly matters.Chapters00:00 A Life-Changing Moment02:26 Living Like You're Dying05:05 The Fragility of Life09:17 The Certainty of Death18:11 Measuring Our Lives21:37 Thinking About Eternitywww.icandopodcast.com

Learn what's destroying Muslims today that's worse than private sins - the same extremism that ruined past nations. Going overboard with righteous people, and drifting towards shirk by asking dead saints for help instead of making dua directly to Allah. I came across a couple of great posts that really got me thinking about something we all do and the importance of realizing that there is a ton to learn from this event.  What I found from Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) was a great reminder as to what failure is all about. Here it is: “F = Fall, A = Acknowledge, I = Investigate, L = Learn, U = Understand, R = Realign and the E = Evolve”. Some great reminders for us to always connect with, since we all have Failure as part of our everyday lives! The second thing that I remembered to share came up as I was recording this episode. It came from Psyche Wizard (@PsycheWizard) where this was posted for us to remember too: “Be loyal to your future, not your past.” Powerful words to connect with learning from failure in our lives.  This was truthfully, a great start to my day that I needed for sure. Hope (as always) that this helps you too.

I came across a powerful post from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where this African Proverb was shared: “No matter how sharp your teeth are, you can't bite water.  Meaning - Each problem comes with its own solution. Take time to understand the nature of the situation before taking action. Powerful thoughts here that I never really thought about before. Chewing water (yes I tried it), gets you nowhere. Chewing water should not be a problem because we don't need to do it. I do appreciate the connection to problems that have their own unique solutions AND I know for sure that I don't want to cause a ton of problems for myself, since the world & other people seem to do enough of that for all of us.

What would make a 20-year-old newlywed couple - with no business experience and no money - decide to buy a dive shop instead of getting jobs at one? In this episode of Unapologetically Me, Heather Blankenship sits down with Kelsey Dickinson, a fearless serial entrepreneur whose journey is anything but ordinary. Kelsey shares how she and her husband bought their first business just six months into marriage, built systems to grow and sell companies, and why the hardest year of their lives pushed them to walk away from it all. That decision led to a new chapter of freedom: homeschooling their kids, traveling the world, living in Kenya, and creating a life on their own terms. Today, Kelsey is passionate about helping the next generation build resilience and entrepreneurial skills through her company, CEO Kid. This is a conversation about faith, bold choices, and designing a life unapologetically - even when the path looks nothing like what others expect. With a blend of humor, transparency, and biblical wisdom, this message will challenge you to become a "learn-it-all" instead of a "know-it-all," emphasizing that the currency for promotion is faithfulness, not giftedness. It was an eye-opening and inspiring personal experience which led to us talking about spirituality, family of origin, trauma and our relationship to society, religion and politics.    Richard's work has been highlighted many times in the media, but he is probably best known for introducing authentic Chinese Imperial Feng Shui to BBC TV's Housebusters and for his book The Feng Shui Diaries.   He has worked with A-Listers such as Gillian Anderson of the X-Files (who said he "commands both confidence and awe") and professionals like Britain's favourite Interior Designer, Kelly Hoppen (see link below). He has been the subject of the Sunday Times feature 'A Life in the Day', His Diaries, which are available free from this website, appear on the site of the Feng Shui Society. In the summer of 2010, he was on Big Brother's Little Brother to give his view of the Big Brother houses over the years, which he described as "the dark side of feng shui."   Check out his new book on Amazon: “I Talk to the Animals” https://a.co/d/25p7REA

In this solo episode of the Dad Edge Podcast, I dive into the valuable life lessons we as fathers can teach our kids through sports—lessons that go far beyond winning or losing. Whether it's about praising effort over outcomes, sharing personal stories of hard work, or simply playing together with no agenda, I explore how to build stronger bonds and greater resilience in our kids through these moments. This episode is a call to reframe how we show up on the sidelines and in life. Sports can be more than competition—they can be a platform for presence, growth, and connection. If you want to raise grounded, hardworking kids who aren't afraid of putting in the reps, this episode is for you. TIMELINE SUMMARY [0:00] - Kicking off the episode with intention and a mission for fatherhood [1:02] - The busy fall season: sports, school, and parenting chaos [2:22] - Why we must praise effort—not just outcomes—with our kids [3:46] - Childhood memories and the impact of working hard without reward [5:02] - Growth mindset: effort over results builds long-term confidence [6:29] - Combating entitlement by teaching consistent hard work [7:27] - Celebrating preparation, not just game-day performance [8:07] - Sharing real stories of hard work from our own lives with our kids [9:18] - Why credibility with your kids is built through relatable stories [9:38] - The power of play: connecting with our kids through shared activity [10:21] - Taekwondo with my son and football with another—just having fun [11:12] - Why the end result matters less than the connection [11:49] - A practical call to action: ask your kids what they learned from sports this week [12:26] - Don't let your kids off the hook—push for real answers [13:04] - Reflecting on the last quarter of the year and what's ahead [13:39] - A warning for business owners: don't build an empire and lose your family [14:19] - Links to join The Alliance or Business Boardroom [14:42] - Final recap and reminder to praise effort, share stories, and play together 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS 1. Praise Effort, Not Just Results When we focus on our kids' preparation, persistence, and grit rather than wins or trophies, we help them develop a growth mindset that builds confidence and resilience. 2. Real-Life Stories Create Connection Sharing your own stories of hard work, sacrifice, and struggle makes your guidance more credible and relatable—and shows your kids you've been in their shoes. 3. Play Without a Purpose Connection often happens in the unstructured moments. Whether it's football or taekwondo, playing with your kids for the sake of fun builds trust and memories. 4. Ask Better Questions Instead of asking “How was practice?”, ask “What did you learn this week from sports?” Push them to reflect and communicate their growth and insights. 5. Lead Without Losing What Matters Whether you're a career man or building a business, don't trade connection with your wife or kids for productivity. Build both—intentionally.
