A person's demeanor is their outward behavior, attitude, or manner. A godly marriage requires both husbands and wives to have a calm demeanor. Spouses are commanded to treat their spouse gently and avoid being harsh or quarrelsome. Marriage will inevitably bring disagreements and difficult moments, but spiritual maturity is demonstrated by how we respond to them. To live out marriage God's way, both spouses must learn to control their emotions and maintain a peaceful demeanor even when conflict arises. __________ Proverbs 21:9 NLT, 1 Timothy 3:11 NLT, Proverbs 19:14 NKJV, Colossians 3:19 NLT, and 1 Timothy 3:3 NLT __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com __________

Send us Fan MailFinding Meaning Through Viktor Frankl, Chabad Chassidus & TherapyIn this episode of From The Inside Out Podcast with Rivkah Krinsky and Eda Schottenstein, we interview Rabbi Daniel Schonbuch, a therapist and author of "Viktor Frankl and the Psychology of the Soul," about integrating CBT, marriage/family therapy, Viktor Frankl's logotherapy, and Chabad Chassidus. Schonbuch explains Frankl's core idea that humans are driven by meaning, not pleasure or power, and outlines three ways to find meaning: purposeful work, love/experience, and changing one's attitude when suffering can't be avoided. He describes creating TorahPsychology.org, holding Hakhel conferences inspired by the Rebbe's encouragement and a message sent to Frankl, and using a 30-day logotherapy workbook to reduce depression and anxiety. The conversation also covers shared meaning in marriage, rising divorce and estrangement, parenting tools (I=QR, connection/communication/reduced control), reflective listening, trauma and meaning, and incorporating Mitteler Rebbe  teachings and “Tracht gut vet zein gut.”EPISODE SPONSORSYakira BellaYakira Bella is a modest, beautiful clothing brand with dresses that look and feel like designer pieces — elegant, well-made, and made to move with you all night — without the designer price tag. Is Romantasy ruining reality? Allie unpacks the ACOTAR phenomenon, highlighting how the author of the series, Sarah J. Maas, is proud of the smut she writes, but she's even prouder that readers are leaving their boyfriends and husbands thanks to her work. While women should always leave an abusive partner, Allie believes ACOTAR is setting an unrealistic standard of romance for women that is causing them to throw away good relationships and self-improvement. Meanwhile, the Bible showcases far better examples of romance and strong, female protagonists than spicy novellas from BookTok. Allie is also joined by Share the Arrows guest speaker Costi Hinn, who discusses the similarities between Kathryn Krick and his uncle Benny Hinn and the broader dangers of the charismatic movement. Gentlemen, welcome to the fourth and final episode of this month's series with my wife Jessica, and I want to start by saying thank you for showing up for this one, since August actually had five Fridays this year, which means she recorded a full bonus episode she didn't have to do. Today we're tackling something that trips up more marriages than almost anything else: roles and expectations, and specifically, all the unspoken assumptions about who does what that quietly cause resentment when they're never actually talked about. Jessica and I get into the finances first, how I took over bill paying for our first five years of marriage and, driven by my own anxiety around debt, paid things down so aggressively it actually put us in a bind more than once. We talk through why swapping our roles, me handling investing and her handling the day to day bills, ended up being the right fit for both of us, and why neither of us wants to trade back. From there we get into dinner, probably the single area that's caused us the most quiet frustration over the years, from Jessica's years of resentment doing all the cooking to the practical shift we finally made once we actually talked about it out loud instead of just enduring it. We also open up about how we split the harder parenting conversations, why the sex talk with our boys has always fallen to me, and why Jessica has become the one I lean on for basically every other hard conversation in our house. I share what I've learned watching her approach conflict, calm, strategic, and incredibly well timed, compared to my own instinct to just react in the moment. We close out by talking through how we split up kids' sports and activities, and what boundaries actually held up over 22 years of marriage. If your marriage has ever hit friction over who's supposed to be doing what, and you've never actually sat down and talked about it, this conversation is a real look at how two people figured that out over two decades together, including the parts that took way too long to fix.   Timeline Summary [1:02] Introducing the fourth and final episode of the August series with Jessica [12:56] Reflecting on last week's lower-energy episode and setting up today's topic: roles and expectations [14:12] Larry announces Roommates to Soulmates cohort three, starting September 16th [16:33] Why unspoken and unknown expectations are what actually trip couples up the most [19:00] The early years of bill paying: Larry's aggressive debt payoff and the strain it caused [21:52] Why paying bills stressed Larry out so deeply, no matter how much money was in the bank [24:36] Checking in on whether Jessica still feels good about handling the bills 17 years later [25:39] Introducing the second financial role: why Larry handles all the investing [27:05] Larry's own journey from investing overwhelm to genuinely loving it today [30:45] Confirming neither of them wants to trade financial roles, and why that alignment matters [31:27] Introducing the dinner problem: why family meals can become a major source of strife [32:52] The moment, about a year ago, Jessica finally said out loud that she hated cooking [33:32] The fix: splitting cooking nights and having the non-cooking spouse handle cleanup [37:55] Larry announces the first-ever Dad Edge Day with the Arizona Cardinals, November 15th [42:22] Checking in on what Jessica would still change about how dinner works today [43:24] Jessica's regret: never requiring the kids to eat what was served instead of making separate meals [46:34] Why the sex talk role has always fallen to Larry, and how he approaches it with their boys [52:36] Breaking down Jessica's calm, strategic approach to conflict versus Larry's reactive instinct [57:14] A callback to an earlier, lighter moment in the series about Larry's past drinking [1:00:49] How they split kids' sports and activities, and the assumptions each of them still carries [1:03:22] What comes next: Jessica joining monthly, and how to submit topic ideas [1:04:51] Introducing two free resources: 25 Intimate Conversation Starters and 21 Days to an Extraordinary Marriage   Five Key Takeaways Roles that feel natural today were often built through real trial and error, not instinct. Larry and Jessica swapped financial responsibilities after outside mentors pointed out they'd assigned them backward, and it took years to get right. Resentment builds fastest around unspoken expectations. Nearly every friction point in their marriage, from bills to dinner, traces back to one person assuming a role the other person quietly grew to dread. Sometimes the fix is simple once you finally say the hard thing out loud. Jessica's years of resentment around cooking dissolved almost immediately once she told Larry directly that she hated it, leading to a workable rotation within one conversation. Timing matters as much as the message when addressing conflict. Jessica's approach of waiting for a calm moment, rather than confronting an issue in the heat of frustration, consistently produces a better outcome than reacting immediately. Roles don't have to be permanent or symmetrical to work. Twenty-two years in, the goal isn't a perfectly even split of every responsibility, it's each person operating in the role that actually fits them, while staying willing to revisit it when it's not working.   Links & Resources Shownotes for this episode: http://thedadedge.com/1524 Roommates to Soulmates (Larry's 8-week marriage coaching cohort; next cohort starts September 16th, with free preview calls): http://thedadedge.com/soulmates The Dad Edge Day at State Farm Stadium (Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams, November 15): https://thedadedge.com/nfl  Closing Wrapping up this series, what stands out most is that Jessica and I don't have this figured out because we never struggled, we have it figured out because we finally stopped avoiding the hard conversations about who does what and why. Every role we've settled into came from a real conversation, sometimes an overdue one, not from assuming the other person would just handle it or just deal with it forever. If something in your own marriage has quietly been building resentment because nobody's actually said it out loud, let this be the nudge to finally have that conversation. Go out and live legendary.

Send us Fan MailWhat happens when you leave behind the familiarity of home and step into a completely different world to build the life you envision? In this thought-provoking episode of the Self Reflection Podcast, host Lira Ndifon sits down with Omowumi, a Nigerian-born fashion designer and entrepreneur whose journey from system engineering to fashion design is a powerful story of courage, passion, faith, adaptation, and self-discovery.Having met through Afrofest, Lira and Omowumi explore what it means to build a new life and business far from home. Omowumi shares how her passion for fashion eventually led her to leave the path of system engineering and pursue entrepreneurship, recognizing both the creative fulfillment and potential for growth that came with following what she truly loved. But pursuing a dream in America as an African immigrant comes with its own set of challenges. Omowumi reflects on the difficulty of building a business without the ready-made community and support system she was accustomed to in Nigeria. In a place where an entrepreneur may have to become the designer, marketer, salesperson, strategist, and administrator all at once, building a sustainable business requires more than talent. It requires resilience, faith, flexibility, and the willingness to keep learning. The conversation also explores the realities of bringing Nigerian fashion and culture into the American market. Designs that work beautifully in Nigeria may need to be reconsidered when introduced to customers living in different climates, cultures, and lifestyles. For Omowumi, that has meant creating clothing that remains distinctly Nigerian while also being modern, versatile, practical, and adaptable enough for different occasions. At the heart of her brand is a desire to tell a different story about Nigeria and Nigerian culture—one that celebrates its vibrancy, creativity, beauty, and possibility. Rather than simply creating clothes, she is building a brand that allows people to experience and recognize Nigerian identity through fashion.Omowumi also opens up about the importance of customer feedback in growing a creative business. Instead of becoming overly attached to a particular design or idea, she listens to her customers, studies their responses, and uses that information to refine her work. Having control over her production process gives her the ability to respond quickly to changing preferences and create pieces that feel both distinctive and desirable.Beyond fashion and entrepreneurship, the conversation takes a deeper turn into faith and self-reflection. Omowumi speaks about the importance of believing in something greater than yourself and relying on faith for guidance, especially during seasons when the path ahead is uncertain. She also shares valuable lessons about building a business intentionally: creating effective systems, knowing when to pivot, listening to the market, and understanding that the early stages of entrepreneurship may require significant financial reinvestment rather than immediate personal reward. And then comes another deeply personal dimension of the conversation: marriage and self-awareness.Marriage, Omowumi explains, has challenged her to look inward—to recognize that living with another person requires flexibility, adjustment, patience, and a willingness to examine your own behavior. The differences between how marriage is perceived in Nigeria and in the United States also open up a fascinating discussion about commitment, permanence, effort, and the expectations we carry from our cultures.Ultimately, this episode is about much more than fashion. It is about what happens when you leave home, rebuild your support system, pursue a dream, encounter resistance, and are forced to discover who you really are along the way.It is about the courage to pivot. The humility to listen. The faith to keep going. And the self-awareness to recognize that sometimes, the greatest business we're building is the person we're becoming.Join Lira and Omowumi for an honest and inspiring conversation about immigration, African identity, entrepreneurship, fashion, faith, marriage, resilience, and the transformative power of self-reflection.

This week we're discussing Courage to Let Your Kids See You Struggle. Somewhere along the way, most solo parents develop a kind of silent rule: handle the hard things before you walk into the room. Clean up before they see you. Keep your voice steady even when your heart isn't. It comes from love. But it also comes from fear, and it's worth asking whether the wall you've built to protect them might also be keeping them from something they really need. Robert Beeson, Founder & CEO of Solo Parent, Elizabeth Cole, single parent, and Amber Fuller, a counselor with a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) and single parent, take a close and honest look at something every solo parent wrestles with: how much of your struggle do you actually let your kids see? They get practical, they get real, and they name the difference between protecting your kids and isolating them from a version of you that could actually draw you closer. Key Insights from this episode: Struggle is something you can model, not just survive - Kids learn resilience by watching adults navigate hard things, not by watching them perform composure. The space between hiding and dumping is where real connection lives - Honest, age-appropriate moments, done without making your kids responsible for what you're carrying, teach them how to handle hard things too. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back in the United Kingdom—but is their return really about the children, or is something much bigger happening behind the scenes? Tudor Dixon is joined by British journalist and Outspoken host Dan Wootton for an explosive conversation about Harry and Meghan’s reported return to the UK, the state of their marriage, and what could come next for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Wootton argues that Harry and Meghan have been living through an increasingly troubled marriage and explains why their move could mark the beginning of an effective “trial separation,” with Harry focused on life in Britain and Meghan potentially spending significant time back in Montecito. The two also examine what the move could mean for Archie and Lilibet, Harry’s relationship with King Charles, and the possibility of a future custody battle. They also dig into Harry’s fractured relationship with Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales; whether the Royal Family could ever welcome Harry back; Meghan’s future without the monarchy; and why Wootton believes Prince William could take a much tougher approach to Harry and Meghan when he becomes king. Plus, Tudor and Dan revisit the infamous Oprah interview, Harry’s memoir Spare, the brothers’ longtime rivalry, Meghan’s relationship with royal staff, and how Harry went from one of Britain’s most popular royals to one of its most controversial figures. Could Harry and Meghan ultimately divorce? Can Harry repair his relationship with the Royal Family—or have too many lines already been crossed? And could their return to Britain set the stage for the next major royal family showdown? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Family Famous is coming. A new day is dawning for Man vs Marriage. Family Famous is about reaching and teaching men how to be famous where it matters most — not in Hollywood, not on a stage, but under your own roof. This episode is not about merely getting through a hard season. It is about thriving and growing in it.Quincy is walking through significant adversity right now. Maybe you are too. That adversity is not wasted. It is tied to who you are becoming and how you impact your family. This is not self-development. Quincy does not walk in self-improvement. He walks in transformation — because Jesus Christ is the one who has transformed him.He shares from year ten of marriage, when he and Jeannie were in survival mode: eight kids, autism, serious health crises, children airlifted to UCLA, trauma-room experiences, sexual abuse of their children by babysitters, losing the house, eating from a church food bank. They had become roommates. They had to decide what they signed up for — survival, or a relationship that was actually alive. He is not telling that story for pity. He is telling it so you know it is possible to keep moving forward from wherever you are.You are not alone. If you have isolated because you believe nobody understands, that isolation is a tactic of the enemy. Do the opposite of what you feel. Lean on the resources you have. If you feel like you have no voice left in your own house — husband, father — you are still not alone.Transformation means a renewed mind. It means becoming someone new. Being “good on your own” only lasts a little while before old habits pull you back.As the episode closes, Quincy gets practical:Invite your wife to coffee. Ask how she is.Consider the whole of who you are: man, husband, father, son, sibling, professional — your health and your faith.Take a child to coffee. The runway of influence gets shorter every day. You don't have time not to do this.Invest in your relationship with God. Ask Him who He would have you be.The book Becoming Family Famous is coming in October at quincymoran.com. It is about legacy, partnership with God, and becoming famous where it matters most.Key TakeawaysFamily Famous = famous where it matters most: at home. This is transformation through Christ, not self-development.Adversity is not wasted. It is part of who you are becoming. You are not alone. Every day, you're making decisions that reveal your allegiance. The question isn't simply, “What am I being tested with?” It's: “Who am I serving?” Money can't be your god. Business can't be your god. Success can't be your god. Comfort can't be your god. Your desires can't be your god. Even in the wilderness, Jesus demonstrated wisdom, judgment, self-control, and dominion. He refused to surrender His authority to temptation. That's the standard. If God has placed something in your heart, your calling isn't to chase it through your own strength. It's to walk with God, become who He's called you to become, and bring what He's given you into the physical world through faithful obedience. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. To see more, be sure to subscribe to the podcast at

Moving with God Together: Four Attributes of an Impactful Person

What does it truly mean to make an impact? A women's basketball coach at Texas A&M offered a simple but powerful distinction: success is what happens to you, while impact is what happens because of you. Numbers 8, set against the backdrop of the Israelites preparing to journey through the wilderness, gives us four clear attributes of a person who makes a lasting difference. God was literally at the center of the Israelite camp, and that arrangement was intentional. When He is at the center of our lives, everything else finds its proper place. The four attributes are ears that hear the Lord, hands that build a team, a heart that loves the presence of God, and a soul that shines while dented. Hearing God means opening His Word with genuine expectancy, not just asking Him to bless our existing plans but actually listening for His. Building a team means delegating real trust and responsibility to others, whether in ministry, marriage, or family life. Loving His presence means creating space to actually be with God, not just attending church or reading a verse occasionally, but slowing down enough to connect deeply. And shining while dented means allowing the painful, hammered seasons of life to shape us into purposeful instruments rather than broken ones.Jesus modeled all four of these attributes perfectly. He listened constantly to His Father, built a team of disciples, withdrew regularly to pray, and shined most brilliantly while suffering on the cross. Because of it, He became the most impactful person who ever walked the earth. Impact is not reserved for pastors or missionaries or people with large platforms. It belongs to anyone willing to live with ears open, hands extended, a heart pursuing His presence, and a soul that keeps shining even when life has left its marks.

A couple describes their latest fight. Maybe it's how the dishwasher gets loaded, or what time the kids should be in bed, or whether you deal with a problem the moment it comes up or sleep on it first. The details change, but two things are always true: both of them are frustrated, and both of them are certain they are right. Check out the blog post here for more details and links. This episode came out of the last one. I said in passing during the leadership episode that most marital conflict isn't about right and wrong, someone in our forum asked whether I had ever written about that, and I hadn't. So here it is. Most of what you fight about has no morally correct answer. Scripture doesn't specify a bedtime, and there is no commandment about loading cutlery handle up or handle down. Those are preferences, formed by your upbringing, your personality, your family culture, and a thousand experiences your spouse wasn't there for. The trouble starts when a preference gets promoted to a moral issue. Once the fight becomes right versus wrong in your head, compromise stops feeling like flexibility and starts feeling like losing, your spouse's disagreement stops being a difference and becomes a character flaw, and you are no longer negotiating, you are prosecuting. Along the way in this episode: reality tunnels, and why marriage makes them worse rather than better; how Paul handles two live church disputes in Romans 14 by refusing to rule on either one; three questions that tell a preference from a principle; where the guardrails sit, because abuse is never a preference-level issue and agreement is not a moral sanitizer; and four things to do when it turns out to be a preference after all. In this episode: (0:00) Intro (0:13) The fight you keep having (1:13) None of these have a right answer (2:08) When a preference gets promoted to a moral issue (2:30) Reality tunnels (3:54) Romans 14: the church fight Paul refused to settle (5:45) Three questions: principle, damage, or preference (6:48) Abuse is never a preference, and hurt is not harm (7:39) What to do when it's a preference (9:27) Unity is not uniformity (9:55) Try this Links mentioned in this episode: SWM 162 - What does biblical leadership in marriage actually look like? SUBURBAKNIGHT: Act Two Walter Knope has finally discovered the one thing worse than suspecting your new neighbor is a sex demon. Being right. Inside Richard's immaculate house, Walter gets the confirmation he was looking for. The Maitlands are dead. Richard isn't human. And he isn't just interested in Samantha. He wants everything Walter has. Walter tries to warn Sam. It goes badly. What starts as an argument about Richard quickly becomes an argument about money, sex, failure, jealousy and every other thing a married couple has been politely not saying out loud. Sam packs a bag. Walter, terrified Richard will get to her, practically helps her leave. Written by Nick Bannister, SUBURBAKNIGHT is a wicked suburban horror-comedy about marriage, masculinity and what happens when your midlife crisis actually grows horns. Walter needs someone who understands monsters. Enter Bobby Joe Williams. Local horror host. Full-time drunk. Part-time monster expert. Possibly the least reassuring person you could want standing between your family and eternal damnation. Bobby Joe confirms the bad news. Richard is an incubus. He feeds on souls, controls his victims through desire and, unfortunately, appears to be immortal. Meanwhile, Richard has already started remaking the neighborhood. Walter goes looking for Andy and instead finds him dead in the bathtub, his wife Alli transformed into something considerably less neighborly. Walter barely escapes with his life. Then Samantha comes home. Richard is waiting. This time, Sam sees him too. When Richard finally drops the charm and shows them what he really is, he offers Walter everything he ever wanted. Money. Freedom. A fresh start. All he wants in return is Samantha. Walter says no. Then Mia introduces Richard's face to a medieval mace. For a moment, it feels like the Knopes may actually have this thing under control. Then Richard takes their daughter. Now Walter and Sam are done running. They need Mia back. They need help. Unfortunately, the closest thing they have to a professional is Bobby Joe Williams in boxer shorts drinking margarita straight from a blender pitcher. So they do what any responsible parents would do. They raid the failed antique business. Crossbow. Mace. Axe. Sword. Armor. Walter's junk has finally found a purpose. And across the street, Richard is waiting. Starring Darin Toonder, Jim O'Heir, Jade Tailor, Jack Daniel, Rob Fitzgerald, Logan Laurel, Emily Brolin, Ashley Platz, and Zeke Alton. Islam is a major issue in America today. Hearing from someone who grew up Muslim provides an important and much-needed perspective. Allie sits down with “Eternal Bread of Life,” a former Muslim who converted to Christianity, known on Instagram for making content exposing the truth about Islam and comparing it to Christianity. She shares her testimony of growing up Sunni Muslim and explains what caused her to begin questioning the religion and lifestyle she grew up accepting as normal. In this episode, she shares her journey from Islam through New Age to Christianity, debunks myths, and reveals disturbing facts about Muhammad and his marriage to a 6-year-old girl named Aisha. She also shares her personal experience growing up Muslim and what she found most attractive about Christianity. This is an informative episode that sheds light on a highly contested issue and demystifies facts that people need to know in order to think well about the growing issue of Islam in America. Enjoy the episode? Send us a text!AI can give you brilliant relationship information. It can also give you brilliantly bad advice. And you won't know which one you got until it blows up in your face. Here's a true story.A woman's husband was flying home from a business trip. She wanted to show him how much she loved him. So she asked AI what to do.It gave her a list. She picked one.Lingerie from Victoria's Secret. Rose petals from the garage door, across the floor, up the stairs, down the hall to the bedroom. Kids farmed out for the night.Sounds perfect, right?Almost everyone watching this thinks so.He walked in and he was not happy. Here's what the machine didn't know. It didn't know her. It didn't know him. It didn't know the twenty years of nuance sitting inside that marriage.AI gathers information. Some of it is excellent. Some of it is terrible. And it can't tell the difference. In this video I explain:Why AI can find research fast but can't assess whether that research is any goodWhy "research proves" is a phrase that should make you suspiciousWhy answering a hundred questions doesn't mean the machine knows you, it just means it compared you to strangers who answered the same wayThe difference between information and wisdom, and why only one of them can save your marriageWhen AI is genuinely useful, and when it's dangerousI'm not against AI. I think it's brilliant. I use it.But it can bring you information. It can't tell you how to live.Use it for facts. Double check those facts. For the big decisions in your marriage, your dating life, your relationship with your mom, your son, your daughter, talk to someone who has the knowledge and the experience and the wisdom. The good news about the woman with the roses? We knew her. We knew him. When it blew up, we were there to help them understand what happened and how to fix it.That's something only a human being can do.Relationships aren't part of a machine. They're part of the heart. If you're struggling in your marriage, don't wait. Most of us have heard of the seven deadly sins, but I'd never heard them reframed quite like this. In this episode, I dig into Elizabeth Oldfield's idea that these old sins aren't really about morality checklists, they're about disconnection, and I bring that lens straight into marriage and the bedroom. The part I can't stop thinking about is a mistranslation in Matthew 5 that's convinced a lot of good, married people they should feel ashamed just for wanting their own spouse. I also discuss how President Benson's "Beware of Pride" talk works within  Oldfield's work, and for every pattern that pulls you apart, I give you what actually brings you back together. I invite you to listen and see if anything makes you stop and think about your own relationship. You might be surprised. Here are the questions for this week's episode. Here is the link to the book I talk about, Fully Alive.

Marriage is not simply about finding someone you love; it requires the maturity to handle the commitment that marriage demands. Jesus' disciples recognized how serious marriage is when divorce is not an option. Jesus responded by pointing to the maturity required to live a married life. Before getting married, we should consider not only whether we have found the right person but also whether we have developed the maturity necessary to live a married life. __________ Matthew 19:8-11 MSG __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com __________
