The raging waters of Rio Claro, in Colombia reminded recently of of the Amazon River. And currently, the river of life itself, which is as wild and unpredictable as the Amazon, has shown us, in the state of Texas which I call home, that the power of flowing water is as brutal as it is life-sustaining and necessary. Then, as promised, I take you back to Casablanca, in Morocco, and share the magnificence of the Hassan II Mosque. One of its most prevalent ornaments, Muqarnas, remind me of Victorias Amazonicas. Both images celebrate the symmetries and repetitive structures in nature, evoking the sacred mathematics so representative of Islamic art and architecture. Yet, even the majestic Hassan II Mosque has been affected by the passage of time and the elements. Water, the memory of the dead fawn and the roar of nature's power aim to remind us all that everything in existence is a container and then a contributor to the all encompassing web of life.
Meet our friends Sarah and Megan. The amazing and hilarious hosts of It's Always the Husband. This episode is one of Sarah's favorite Forensic Files ever, called Slippery Motives. when an "elite runner" takes his wife on a business vacation, all hell breaks loose. Towel racks, inappropriate sexual advances at funerals, piss-poor burials, The Book of Who Cares, and prosecutors with hot buns make this episode a delight. We hope you hate Ed Post as much as we do! If you do, please rate us 5 stars on Apple Podcasts! Don't forget to subscribe! Theme song by Jaime Nelson

You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. Here's a conundrum that has captivated scientists: when Earth formed 4.5 billion years ago, our planet was essentially a ball of molten rock. Any water that might have been present during the planet's formation would surely have boiled away immediately. Yet today, water covers about 70% of Earth's surface. So where did all this water come from? And more intriguingly, when did it arrive? Listener Bill in the USA wants to know, and Presenter Caroline Steel is after answers. Assistant Professor Muhammad Abdul Latif is an early earth physicist at United Arab Emirates University. He explains how his modelling has helped us to understand when water first appeared in our universe. The early earth was not a water-friendly place - a hellscape of molten rock, volcanic eruptions and constant bombardments from comets and asteroids, with high levels of solar radiation. These conditions would have evaporated the water. And according to Professor Richard Greenwood at Open University, our earth's molten iron core would have been a ball of rust if there had been water in the proto-earth mix. So if the water hasn't always been here, where did it come from? At the Natural History Museum in London, Professor Sara Russell has been comparing the isotopic "fingerprint" of Earth's water with water found in the asteroid Bennu, captured and brought back by the recent Osiris Rex NASA mission. It's a good match for earth's water, but could it really be the answer to our question? “So I think that part of colonialism for Indigenous peoples has been this idea that Indigenous peoples aren't thinking peoples and that we don't have thought on a kind of systemic level. One of the things that I was interested in doing is intervening in that because I think Indigenous people have a lot of beautiful, very intellectual, theoretical contributions to make to the world. A lot of our theory is encoded in story, but a lot of our theory is also encoded in land-based practice. You can't learn about it from reading books or from going to lectures. You have to really be out on the land with elders for long periods of time.”In this episode on Speaking Out of Place podcast Professor David Palumbo-Liu talks with Leanne Betasamosake Simpson about her new book,Theory of Water. Theory of Water is a rich, complex, and deeply personal reflection on world-making and life-giving processes best captured in the fluidity of water as it circulates through all our bodies and the planet. Theory of Water is a rich, complex, and deeply personal reflection on world-making and life-giving processes best captured in the fluidity of water as it circulates through all our bodies and the planet. It is a largely collective project that enlists our listening and love, and helps us face the violence of all forms of dominance, enclosure, and containment. Whether you're a student, teacher, policymaker, or just someone who cares about South Texas, this is a conversation worth hearing.

There is a subtle yet powerful grip that beliefs have over our lives, and it is a potent practice of love and devotion to begin hunting for them and unraveling them. There is a quote that shifted everything for me: ‘You can have your beliefs, just don't believe in them.” This one line opened the door to deeper spiritual exploration, helping me realize that many of the things I thought were “me” were actually inherited, conditioned, or reactive responses I constructed to keep me safe. There are beliefs shaped by childhood, trauma, and nervous system responses, that can linger in the background of our psyches quietly dictate how we relate to everything from love to work, family to self-worth. Learning how to shift into “right relationship” (Ayni) and understanding that giving and receiving exist in sacred mutual reciprocity, is the key to moving through life less in control and more in connection. This is a call to loosen the grip, drop the masks, and meet the moment with your truest self. Previous episodes in our AI series have focused on the evolving features of artificial intelligence itself: its potential to democratize education and to improve city planning and weather forecasting. In this final installment, we examine its costs: the accelerating resource demands of AI and other data-intensive technologies. Maya Chari, this year's Ten Across + APM Research Lab data journalism fellow, recently investigated the true water and energy costs associated with data center facilities in the Phoenix metro area— now on track to become the second largest market in the U.S. Though granular industrial data can be difficult to come by, Maya located a report submitted by Microsoft to City of Goodyear officials, stating that one of their proposed data centers would use as much potable water each year as 670 homes. Amplified across the 140 other data centers currently dotting the state of Arizona alone, the scale of such consumption becomes clearer. As data centers rapidly multiply in response to market demand around the world—often preferring arid places like the water-stressed U.S. Southwest—critical questions are pressed about whether and how such development can be sustained. In back-to-back conversations in this episode, we'll hear from experts involved in managing and reducing the impact of the physical infrastructure behind our digitized lives. Bobby Olsen, chief planning, strategy, and sustainability executive at the Arizona electric and water utility Salt River Project, describes planning to meet staggering levels of projected energy demand. And Dr. Kerri Hickenbottom, principal investigator at University of Arizona's Hickenbottom Environmental Research Lab, discusses working in concert with the public and private sectors to improve water reuse strategies and overall efficiency of data center operations. In this episode of She's Not Done Yet: Conversations with women over 50, I (Becky Berry) talk with author Mary Ann Noe. This is a return visit for Mary Ann. We previously talked about her books A Handful of Pearls and Water the Color of Slate. In this episode we talk about one of the books she was finishing up at the time of the last interview. Mary Ann is the embodiment of She's Not Done Yet. She's in her late 70's and is publishing a book a year. Talk about not being done yet! We talked about Mary Ann's book Deserving of Murder: A Lynn and Alfred Tale. The Lynn and Alfred are Lynn Fontane and Alfred Lunt, one of the most famous acting teams of all time. The setting of the book is at their home, Ten Chimneys, in Wisconsin, where Mary Ann serves as a docent. The book is set in the winter of 1947 when there was a massive blizzard in Wisconsin. The unbelievable amounts of snow lend an additional air of mystery to the book. In our chat we talk about Ten Chimneys as a character in the book (there's a room that has 6 doors) and there are cabins and a pool and all sorts of places where bad things can happen. Mary Ann shares great stories about Lynn and Alfred and Ten Chimneys, and how she used her knowledge of the building to create a compelling read. I found out I'm not the only person who had trouble identifying the killer! Also look for the second book in Mary Ann's Lynn and Alfred Tales: Glass Flowers & Diamond Stickpins, published in May 2025. You can find Mary Ann books at independent bookstores, on Amazon (including Kindle), at Barnes & Noble, and from her publisher, Black Rose Writing. Thank you for listening! Story at-a-glance Water temperature influences how the body absorbs and responds to fluids, affecting digestion, circulation, hydration rate, and recovery depending on when and how different temperatures are consumed Cold water helps cool the body after exercise, provides a mild metabolic effect, and boosts alertness, but it interferes with digestion and triggers symptoms in sensitive individuals Room temperature water supports consistent daily hydration, is easier to absorb, and works well during meals or illness, especially when the digestive system or overall resilience is lower Warm water promotes digestive comfort, eases cramping and congestion, improves circulation, and supports relaxation, though it reduces thirst and slows intake during intense heat or physical activity There is no universally ideal temperature or fixed daily water intake; hydration needs and preferences vary based on climate, diet, activity level, and individual physiology; flexibility is more effective than rigid guidelines

On this episode of Living Myth Michael Meade tells a fairy tale about a realm that is rapidly becoming a wasteland because its king has become seriously ill and there is no simple cure. The only way to heal the realm is to find the Water of Life. Doing that requires the seeker let go of all arrogance and accept the condition of not knowing. For only then will the mysterious dwarf provide the guidance and resources that are needed for the quest. Part of the essential guidance involves learning how to face our deepest fears. And that inevitably brings up each person's abandonment issues as well as feelings of being inadequate and overwhelmed by what life requires of us. Ultimately, it is only the youngest part of each psyche, the eternal youth and inner initiate that is able to access the wisdom and resources needed to find the Water of Life and return the flow of life to the psychic realm. Thank you for listening to and supporting Living Myth. You can hear Michael Meade live by joining his free online event “Finding Unity in a Divided World” on Thursday, July 17.
