In this short podcast episode, Bryan talks about considerations for washing commercial coils and water challenges techs might face. Despite being the topic of debate within the last several years, cleaning coils matters and will affect performance. When washing coils, we use Refrigeration Technologies Viper cleaners (especially Venom Packs) when we actually need cleaners. No matter which cleaner you use (or if you don't), you want some pressure and a high flow rate when rinsing, but keep in mind that some pressure-washers may produce too much pressure and too little flow; the sweet spot is around 300 PSI, and microchannel coils require extra caution.  In terms of commercial maintenance contracts, we often have a lot of coils to wash and may not have adequate water access for the job. We find that the best move is to ask the client to install plumbing infrastructure that allows for better water access. If they refuse, you can increase the labor charge due to extra hose setups, reduced pressure, etc. The client must also be able to provide safe access to the coils; do not write a proposal or carry out a maintenance procedure if techs cannot carry out the work safely.  Strict chemical policies are important, too. Water-first approaches are best; if a water wash is sufficient, use just water and only escalate to chemicals if there is a clear need for a stronger cleaning. If you use chemical cleaners, use the proper dilution ratio; over-concentrated cleaners can damage coils. Chemicals also require more rinsing, and it's more economical to do as little rinsing as possible. Pre-rinsing, adding cleaner from bottom to top, letting the cleaner dwell, and rinsing off is the ideal sequence. If you encounter water challenges on the ground, you can use a ground-based water trailer with a high-output, low-pressure washer attached. If the issue is on the roof, a battery-powered washer can help (like the Dewalt 20V MAX cordless power cleaner); they draw from vessels of water, like 5-gallon jerricans. Remove the casing if you need to (making sure the client pays for that additional labor), and rinse from the inside out.   Learn more about Refrigeration Technologies cleaners at https://www.refrigtech.com/.  Have a question that you want us to answer on the podcast? In this listener Q&A episode, Dr. Scott Watier and Tommy Welling tackle the real questions the fasting for life community has been asking, starting with an inspiring update from a longtime listener whose carnivore and OMAD lifestyle has kept him medication-free for years. They dig into whether flavored seltzers and electrolyte drinks break a fast, making the case for flexibility over rigid perfectionism as long as consistency stays the priority. The conversation shifts to extended multi-day fasts, with the hosts sharing how they personally use longer resets a couple times a year for the mental and metabolic benefits, while stressing that the real fat loss progress comes from consistent shorter fasting windows. They also offer guidance for postmenopausal women looking to get back into resistance training, pointing toward beginner-friendly strength programs and reminding listeners that the best routine is the one they'll actually enjoy and stick with. The episode wraps with an honest conversation about carb cravings, explaining why certain foods trigger loss of control and how a flexible, protein-first approach can help listeners stop viewing carbs as off-limits forever. As always, the takeaway is the same: progress comes from sustainable habits, not all-or-nothing rules. Take the NEW FASTING PERSONA QUIZ! - The Key to Unlocking Sustainable Weight Loss With Fasting! Resources and Downloads: SIGN UP FOR THE DROP OF THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BLOOD SUGAR CONTROL GRAB THE OPTIMAL RANGES FOR LAB WORK HERE! - NEW RESOURCE! FREE RESOURCE - DOWNLOAD THE NEW BLUEPRINT TO FASTING FOR FAT LOSS! SLEEP GUIDE DIRECT DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD THE FASTING TRANSFORMATION JOURNAL HERE! Partner Links: Get your FREE BOX OF LMNT hydration support for the perfect electrolyte balance for your fasting lifestyle with your first purchase here! Get 25% off a Keto-Mojo blood glucose and ketone monitor (discount shown at checkout)! Click here! Our Community: Let's continue the conversation. Trees in cold climates prepare for winter through a process called “hardening.” Water drains from cells so they won’t freeze, expand, and burst the tree. The water that remains between the cells is too pure for ice crystals to attach. Its temperature may now drop to forty degrees below zero without cracking the tree. Trees harden at the same time each year because they take their cues from the fixed calendar of shortening days. They don't stake their lives on the weather, which may be unseasonably mild. They trust the sun, their one sure thing. The Son who made the sun is surer yet. He is “the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created,” and “in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:15-17). Who tells trees when to harden each year? The same Son who makes the sun rise each morning and puts it to bed each night, pulls tides with the moon, whirls electrons in every cell, beats your heart and inflates your lungs, and holds you when your heart is broken. What holds the world together isn’t a force within nature but a Person outside it. A Person who entered the world He’d made so he could “reconcile to himself all things,” including you (v. 20). In this unpredictable world, you’ve got one sure thing. Jesus will “present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (v. 20).

Episode 3: What It Left Behind Leaving a place doesn't always mean leaving it behind. Three days after returning home to Kansas City, Sara begins having dreams about Table Rock Lake. In them, she drifts above the flooded valley, suspended in dark water while something ancient moves below. The lake is hundreds of miles away. Yet every night she wakes with the same feeling: Cold. Not the room. Her. In the final chapter of Something in the Water, Carolyn explores what happened after the trip ended—and whether some encounters leave behind more than memories. Local divers speak quietly about cold spots that shouldn't exist. About moments of disorientation in familiar waters. About the persistent sensation that something beneath the lake is watching from below. No disappearances. No documented tragedies. Just stories. And the feeling. Across Indigenous traditions, the Underwater Panther was never simply a monster. It was a force—a boundary between worlds. Those touched by it were sometimes believed to carry a lingering awareness of what lies beneath the surface. Sara was eventually asked whether she believed something followed her home. Her answer was simple: "I think I got noticed by something very old that doesn't notice people very often. And now I know it's there. And it knows I know." Table Rock Lake remains as beautiful as ever: blue water, green hills, children leaping from docks on summer afternoons. But beneath the surface lie flooded towns, forgotten roads, and older stories that may never have truly disappeared. Case file closed. Or perhaps merely submerged. Learn more about your ad choices. The truth is that the first 60 minutes after you wake up may matter more than anything on your plate. Before a single bite of food, one normal morning habit can spike cortisol, raise insulin resistance, and quietly switch your body into fat storage mode. In this episode I break down the seven morning mistakes that tell your body to hold on to belly fat, including one that is considered healthy and one your favorite wellness influencers recommend. Then I give you the exact first-hour routine I use to flip that switch in your favor, step by step. None of it is about calories, junk food, or willpower. It is about the signals you send before the day even starts. Key takeaways: A natural cortisol rise happens 30 to 45 minutes after waking. Grabbing your phone stacks artificial stress on top of it. Cortisol receptor sites are roughly tripled in visceral belly fat, the "cortisol belly." Water with minerals before coffee, and delaying caffeine about 90 minutes, gives you steadier all-day energy. Morning sunlight in your eyes sets the clock that controls your insulin sensitivity. Protein first at your first meal lowered craving signals in the brain in a University of Missouri study. A short walk after eating clears blood sugar through an insulin-free side door. Survival mode and fat burning mode cannot coexist, so a calm nervous system is part of the plan. Most people think drinking more water is enough. But what if the water itself is the problem? I learned this the hard way after buying a filter, switching to clean purified water, and still feeling thirsty after eight glasses a day. That experience sent me down a rabbit hole that completely changed how I think about cellular hydration. In this episode, I'm joined by Mario Brainović, founder of New Earth Technologies and creator of the Analemma device, to break down the science of coherent water. Mario explains why most of the water we drink exists in a chaotic state that forces our bodies to work overtime, and how the Analemma's "mother water" technology restructures any liquid it touches in under 30 seconds.  If you've upgraded your diet, sleep, and supplements but haven't thought about your water quality at this level, this conversation is for you. From whole-house systems to a simple glass wand you stir into your morning coffee, you'll learn why water is the most foundational biohack of all for longevity.   "99% of all of our molecules are actually very light water molecules. He was always very passionate about health and wellness, about finding natural ways to heal, regenerate, and restore the delicate balance between body, mind, and spirit. This led him to establish a natural pharmaceutical company that successfully helped many people for years. Hello! This is Episode 412. This is Way #12 of the 44 Ways to Create Your Sustainable Home series. We’re continuing through Section Three: Sustainable Services and Infrastructure. In Episode 411, we looked at where household water goes, especially in indoor use, and how to reduce consumption through fixture selection and design decisions. In this episode, we’re looking at the other side of that equation: not just using less water, but capturing and reusing the water that falls on and around your home. Way #12 is: Store and Reuse Water for Greater Water Saving. [For all resources mentioned in this podcast and a free, downloadable PDF transcript, head to www.undercoverarchitect.com/412] In this episode, I share information on rainwater harvesting, greywater systems, and what it looks like to meaningfully reduce, or in some cases almost eliminate, your home’s reliance on mains water for outdoor use. I’ll also share a little of my own experience with whole-of-home rainwater supply, as we’ve been living entirely on rainwater for over a decade now. The Great Lakes are home to 21% of the world's surface freshwater, and it's not just an environmental asset: it's an economic one. With a $6 trillion regional GDP, the region deeply depends on a flourishing water economy: the full range of economic activity that depends on, relates to, or is generated by water. With issues like emerging contaminants and water scarcity on the rise, there is both an urgent need and an economic opportunity to create solutions that can be deployed in the Great Lakes and adopted around the world.rnrnCleveland Water Alliance (CWA) forges cross-sector partnerships to accelerate these innovations, connecting our region's utilities, universities, government agencies, and manufacturing leaders. From attracting tech creators to building real-world testing environments on the shores of Lake Erie, CWA is doing what Silicon Valley did for computing: turning concentrated expertise and critical need into a world-changing industry.rnrnPresident & CEO Bryan Stubbs was appointed to lead CWA shortly after its inception, growing the organization into a renowned technology catalyst and establishing Ohio as a global destination for water innovation.rnrnJoin us at the 2026 State of the Great Lakes to learn why the most valuable resource of the 21st century is already in our backyard and what it means for the future of our region.

Episode 2: The Pool Water has a way of finding its path. Through stone. Through memory. Through places we believe are sealed shut. In Part Two of Something in the Water, the events at Table Rock Lake take an even stranger turn. After days of unsettling encounters on the water, Sara wakes in the middle of the night to find something impossible: a pool of cold water in the center of her bedroom floor. No leaking pipes. No open windows. No explanation. As fear spreads through the cabin, four members of the group decide it's time to leave. But Sara—the very person who experienced the first encounter in the lake—chooses to stay. Why? Because what she experienced didn't feel like a threat. It felt like attention. As Sarah examines centuries-old traditions surrounding the Underwater Panther, a disturbing pattern emerges. Across cultures and generations, stories of the entity share one detail above all others: it chooses. And once it notices you, leaving the water may not be enough. By morning, the mysterious pool has vanished. But the towels used to clean it up have been moved. Folded neatly at the foot of Sara's bed. Sometimes the most terrifying thing isn't what we see. It's the feeling that something has seen us.

What Dusty Just Done Did Starts at 0:51 Not only did we have this team come out of nowhere to be the best in the history Michigan basketball. The Dusty May Era is now a fever dream. Takes a little bit out of it. This is college basketball now. Understand why he wouldn't want to be a college coach today; he explicitly said he never got to feel like they won a championship. NCAA can be blamed for letting it get here but also they have no power whatsoever to fix all the things that mean the second you win a title you have to recruit your new team. Second time in a row the college coach the NBA took was Michigan's. This is not the Cavs; Dallas is a good gig. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP]  2. The Future of Michigan Basketball Starts at 19:04 They're promoting Mike Boynton to interim head coach, with a possibility of permanence. Greater that 50% chance he's the HC without the interim title, but might execute a search. Five days after they announce a hire the portal is open for Michigan alone, which is probably what scared them into this now. McKenney is back, probably Cadeau back, direction of things is a battle to hold onto the transfer bigs. Boynton: got tagged by the FBI thing, can see his tenure as not successful, or successful for the Minnesota of the Big 12. He has a trademark, which is defense: five of six years with a top-20 unit. Still relatively young, can recruit. Program: "What option do we have?" UNNNNNGGGGGHHHHHH. Actual option: Josh Schertz! Trademark is twos, built a real roster there, is Dusty's best coaching buddy. Don't care as much about roster continuity (Brian Ellerbe, Sherrone Moore) because the players won't be around long. Also if you poach a coach you have access to another team's roster and coaching staff, whereas right now Michigan and the Mavs are competing for Michigan staff and Michigan and the world are competing for Michigan's players. Other names to look at: Niko Medved was our next pick two years ago, did as well as possible with Minnesota last year. Where is Michigan Basketball in program rankings? Would Purdue swap with us? Purdue built their fanbase over years of having a program, just like Michigan hockey. 3. The Warde Talk Starts at 53:17 What are you supposed to do with a guy who alternates between asleep-at-the-wheel scandals and national championships? Push back against Brian's assertion that people "don't want to work for him" because these are all individual situations. He's not a bad guy, but he's also not a guy who *does* things, unless that's milking the fanbase or turning Michigan Stadium into an F1 race of ads. His oeuvre is not doing anything, because that worked with Harbaugh in 2020, and now that's a modus operandi. Talking ADs history since Canham. Push back against Brian's lionizing of Canham: he was a visionary, but his record also includes Dr. Anderson and trying to prevent/undermine Title IX. We end up preferring Bill Martin of all our lifetime ADs—he built the boxes to prevent ads in the stadium. Don't think missing out on Les Miles was a loss. Brian's Warde assessment: He typed "how to AD" into ChatGPT. Does losing Dusty May like this change your opinion on Warde Manuel? No. But it's weird that he keeps surviving (no president to fire him). 4. 2027 Football Recruiting Starts at 1:20:46 Doesn't look any different from a Harbaugh class at this point. If you're good at scouting and developing you're fine. OL class is small but Lipsey stacks another elite tackle and they had to fend off ND for Louis Esposito, Rouleau is a Frey-type. Xavier Muhammad is a very good DT, Tavares Harrington a find at CB, and they held onto some important guys in-state in a good Michigan year. LB recruiting is still underfunded, Brian is fine with that because it's very a "what's in your head" position with no consensus on what schools want. State of the recruiting industry: Paramount got bought and 247 is getting raided as incompetent ownership sets in. On3 is more reactive to scouting this cycle, and almost universally rate M commits higher. White whales: #1 is CB Josh Dobson, Seth Tillman would be a big, big deal because DTs are hard to come by, Monsanna Torbert would be a big win over Ohio State. Lincoln Mageo would be a good OL to finish with. Would like to have more TEs coming in. 5. World Cup Starts at 1:50:04 Takes hotter than Dusty May's agent. Count how many times Brian calls USA "Michigan." Are the Americans the most pleased with their performance in Group Phase (2nd to Canadians). Freeman (son of Antonio) is very reliable defensively, main thing is you can put Dest at wing. Sauciest player in US history? McKenzie is everywhere, runs into the box from deep were especially effective vs Paraguay. Pulisic injury: not going to play him in the useless Turkey game, should be fine. Tim Ream has been trying to play soccer for us forever, always been the best guy on the ball. Decent draw, should be favored (when they make the field) for a couple of rounds. Success point is get to the quarters; they can go into a game against a world power and expect to compete, not win, and not win three in a row. Four years ago they were too young. Don't mind the 48-team format; it saps a lot of tension out of the Group Stage when three teams advance, but a lot of "small teams" have battled. Brazil is still working back to being BRAZIL. Germany is Ohio State but not a peak year Ohio State. France is super talented. Alex: If you play Bosnia and Herzegovina you play two countries at once. Seth: Actually it's more like seven point eight. If you've ever stared at a “perfect” test strip while the pool still acts weird, you're probably missing one of the quietest drivers in pool water chemistry: TDS. We dig into what Total Dissolved Solids actually means, why a simple digital meter belongs on every service truck, and how TDS can swing your saturation index enough to change your real-world results. Along the way, we unpack the old-school truth behind TDS, what the meter is really reading (conductivity), and why it is still a valuable approximation for everyday pool maintenance decisions. We also get specific about what's building up in the water over time. Chlorine doesn't just disappear, it becomes chloride. Many of the products you add carry sodium, and those ions stay behind. That matters even more in a saltwater pool, where you might be running 3,000 to 3,400 ppm salt before you count everything else. We talk through why a 5,000 to 6,000 ppm TDS reading can be normal with a generator running, but can turn into a chemistry headache when the cell is off and the salt is just along for the ride. One of the biggest takeaways is a myth-buster: the saturation index can describe scale forming or plaster corrosivity, but it does not predict metal corrosion. Real corrosion shows up in places you can see, like salt splash-out that dries into concentrated salt on decks and equipment, or motors and hardware that fail even when the index looks “fine.” We also cover when high TDS is a drain-and-dilute conversation in non-salt pools (about 1,500 ppm over starting), plus the tricky world of color bodies, organic staining, and why chlorine alone sometimes cannot fix yellow or tinted water. If you want fewer mystery problems and faster diagnoses, subscribe, share this with a pool pro friend, and leave a review so more techs start testing what actually builds up over time.We break down what TDS really measures, why it affects the saturation index, and why so many pool pros still ignore it. We also clear up a costly myth: “balanced” water can still corrode metal, especially around saltwater pools.  • why TDS testing fell out of routine pool service and why it matters  • what a TDS meter actually measures through conductivity and why it is an approximation  • what builds TDS over time, especially chloride and sodium from common pool chemicals  • how saltwater pools push TDS higher and what happens when the generator is off  • why the saturation index describes plaster risk, not metal corrosion risk  • real-world clues of high TDS such as brackish taste, stubborn color, and “can't fix it” water  • how color bodies and organics can stain plastics and cleaners and resist chlorine  If you're looking for other podcasts, just go to my website, swimming for learning.com. For years, I worked as a habit-based coach. The principles were simple: actions create results. The habits you repeat consistently are what ultimately determine where you end up.But over time, I became increasingly interested in a different question:Why do some people follow through while others struggle to?In this episode of The Almost Daily Podcast, I discuss the connection between mindset, emotions, habits, and actions. While understanding yourself and untangling the mental and emotional side of change is important, there is still a point where action has to happen.I also share how I'm bringing more habit-based coaching concepts back into the content I'm creating, why structure still matters, and how simple daily actions can help you build a lifestyle that feels sustainable instead of overwhelming.Topics Covered:• The role of habit-based coaching• Why actions create results• The connection between mindset and follow-through• Understanding why we do or don't take action• Building a forever active lifestyle• Why structure still matters• Simple habits that support long-term success• Water, produce, movement, and daily actions• Avoiding overwhelm in health and fitness• Creating sustainable routines• The balance between self-awareness and execution• Why following through is still essentialThank you for listening to The Almost Daily Podcast.Understanding yourself matters. Mindset matters. Emotions matter. But at some point, progress still requires action. The goal is to create a life where following through feels less like a battle and more like a natural extension of who you are becoming.

You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. I am so excited to welcome back to the B.rad Podcast, Cynthia Monteleone, my good friend and sprinting mentor coach to numerous Olympic and world champion masters track and field athletes, and a former world champion herself in the 400 meters for women aged 45 and over! Our last show was dedicated to discussing the dangers of chronic endurance training and the wide-ranging physiological benefits of sprinting. This conversation is focused on another hugely important topic: recovery. The workout is the signal. The recovery is where the adaptation occurs. You’re going to learn how Cynthia became a world champion in sprinting while taking four days off per week to recover, why cortisol is not the enemy, and the difference between the productive stress of training and the chronic stress that can interfere with health, hormones, and performance. We also get into sprinting for longevity, chasing youth versus chasing longevity, and the simple recovery habits that matter most: sleep, walking, sunlight, spending time with family, and creating space where your body and nervous system can rebuild. TIMESTAMPS: The body doesn't know whether the stress comes from sprinting, scrolling, financial pressure, or a difficult conversation. It simply responds to stress. [03:37] Cynthia publishes a free newsletter with educational information on various topics such as the importance of recovery. [05:51] There is a difference between chasing youth and chasing longevity. [08:44] The problem of taking outside hormone replacements is common. [12:23] There are natural ways to get around some symptoms like those that hit women in midlife. Men often aromatize testosterone into estrogen, thus the spare tire. [18:10] Cynthia uses a metabolic pinch to analyze what is going on in a client's body. This is based in Chinese medicine. [21:04] The workout is the signal and the recovery is where the adaptation occurs. [22:03] There's a lot of misunderstanding and misinterpretation about what cortisol does in the body. Learn to use Eustress in a positive way. [24:07] Beer creates this enzyme aromatase that changes the testosterone to estrogen. [33:27] If anyone wants to track their longevity potential and their overall wellness and vitality, test your sex hormones frequently. The more calories burned, more classes attended, more miles run, still creates worse results, especially for the menopausal female [34:80] Aging with a broken body is not the best quality of life. [39:04] How can someone become a champion and win the medal but take tremendous amount of recovery time? Don't you have to train every day? [43:18] Walking after meals is such a great habit to adopt. [47:27] Walking in those barefoot shoes basically strengthens your foot. [50:17] Getting the right amount of sleep is essential for all your endeavors. [56:86] Find joy in what you are doing. Decompress, let go of stress. These are very important for recovery and longevity. [01:03:11] Some people think if you have a good diet, you don't need supplements. Some are based in ancestral medicine. [01:03:47] LINKS: Brad Kearns.com BradNutrition.com - 20% OFF Your First Order! Daily Emunah Podcast - Daily Emunah By Rabbi David Ashear

One of the harder challenges in life is dealing with delays and setbacks when we are convinced that something has to happen right now. A father shared the following lesson. His infant son was born with a serious heart defect that required surgery. Although the condition needed to be corrected, the doctors felt it would be better if the baby grew a little before undergoing the operation, increasing the chances of success and long-term benefit. After waiting for months, a surgery date was finally scheduled for just before Pesach. The family arrived at the hospital early in the morning and spent an exhausting day going from one test to another, preparing their baby for the long-awaited procedure that was scheduled for the following day. By the time they finally got home, physically and emotionally drained, they were focused on making all the necessary arrangements before returning to the hospital early the next morning. Then the phone rang. A hospital representative informed them that the surgery had been canceled. Another baby had been born that day with a more urgent condition and needed immediate surgery to save his life. The father couldn't believe it. After all the preparation, anticipation, and emotional build-up, everything suddenly came to a stop. But then he reminded himself that it must be for the best and Hashem knows exactly what He's doing. A new date was scheduled for after Pesach. When that date arrived, shockingly, the exact same thing happened. After another full day of testing and preparation, another cancellation because another child's condition was more urgent. This time it was much harder to accept. Frustrated and disappointed, the father went to his Rebbe for guidance. The Rebbe told him a story about Rav Shlomka of Zvhil. Once, before beginning a fast, Rav Shlomka asked his grandson to prepare a cup of tea. Although the child hurried to do so, everything seemed to go wrong. Water spilled, delays occurred, and by the time the tea was finally ready, sunset had arrived and the fast had already begun. Seeing how upset his grandson was, Rav Shlomka gently told him, "Don't be upset. This is what was meant to be." The Rebbe then repeated those words to the father. "This is what was meant to be." There were no mistakes. It was not poor planning. It was not unfortunate timing. Everything was exactly the way it was supposed to be. Those words penetrated the father's heart. A few days later, a well-known medical askan heard about the repeated cancellations and offered his assistance. He explained that he had connections and could pressure the hospital to ensure that this would never happen again. But to his own surprise, the father declined. "This is how it is meant to be," he said. "Hashem is taking care of my son. The surgery will happen when it's supposed to happen." A few days later, his sister mentioned that her neighbor had given birth to a baby with a life-threatening heart defect and the baby had been rushed into emergency surgery immediately after birth. The father asked when that surgery had taken place. It was on the very day that his own son's surgery had been canceled. Suddenly, everything became clear. He now understood how urgent the other baby's situation had been, and he was genuinely happy that his son's surgery had been postponed in order to save that child's life. Then another thought struck him. If he had used influence and pressure to move his son ahead in line, perhaps the next time a different baby's life would be hanging in the balance. Perhaps that child would be forced to wait because of his intervention. How often do we experience disappointments that seem completely unnecessary? How often do plans fall apart, appointments get canceled, opportunities disappear, and doors close just when we think they should be opening? We are only seeing a tiny fraction of the picture. What appears to us as a frustrating delay may actually be protecting someone, helping someone else, or setting in motion events that we cannot begin to understand. We assume that if something did not happen, then something must have gone wrong. But that is not the way it is. Everything always happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen. We must internalize those powerful words: "This is what is meant to be." When we live with that belief, not only do we spare ourselves so much frustration and disappointment, but we also earn tremendous reward for demonstrating our Emunah in Hashem's perfect plan, even when we cannot yet understand it.

Since the late nineteenth century, amusement parks have been providing countless hours of enjoyment for people all around the world. Often driven by the latest technology and advances in mechanical engineering, the thrill rides at parks like Disney Land, Great America, and other independent parks offer a controlled environment to experience terror and excitement. While these rides, and the parks in general, are very safe and held to strict safety standards, there are times when the unthinkable happens—a cable snaps, a safety harness breaks—and the once safe ride becomes a nightmare for passengers. Far more often than not, tragic amusement park accidents are the result of human foolishness or, far less often, operator error. But other times, they are a bizarre fluke; a one in a million mechanical problem no one saw coming. Either way, the results can be shocking, horrifying, and even deadly. The Devil's Ledger — June 22, 2026 This week on The Devil's Ledger, we celebrate the United States Men's National Team advancing out of the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and recognize the incredible efforts of host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico for welcoming fans from around the world. Then we dive into another week of strange stories, unsettling mysteries, and sinister tales from across the Evio Creative universe. We begin, as always, with The Creepiest Thing I Heard This Week—the disturbing true story of a family who purchased a foreclosed home in Connecticut only to discover three sets of human remains inside. What should have been the start of a new chapter quickly became the center of a mystery years in the making. On The Devil Within, we gather around the campfire for Something in the Water. What begins as a relaxing getaway at Table Rock Lake becomes a terrifying encounter with something lurking beneath the surface. Strange events, unexplained encounters, and a growing realization that whatever is in the lake wants to be seen force a group of friends to confront a chilling question: what happens when something ancient decides it wants your attention? On Criminal Mischief, Carolyn Ossorio delivers another unforgettable story. This isn't a notorious serial killer or a decades-old wrongful conviction. It's something far more relatable—and perhaps more frightening because of it. A case that reminds us how quickly an ordinary day can become a nightmare and how vulnerable we all are to dangers hiding in plain sight. On The Slippery, the bizarre saga of Jose Lantigua continues. A successful businessman claims to be suffering from a rare and terminal illness allegedly connected to his past as a CIA operative. After traveling to Venezuela for a secret experimental procedure, he disappears—leaving behind unanswered questions, a multimillion-dollar insurance policy, and investigators who suspect nothing is as it seems. And in This Week in Horror, we take a look at Corporate Retreat, a new horror film in which a company leadership retreat descends into chaos, violence, and death. As alliances crumble and secrets emerge, the greatest threat may not be lurking in the wilderness—it may be sitting in the next boardroom chair.
