This week I'm Talking About Domain Investing & The Myth of Easy MRR! [powerpress]
In today's episode, I'm continuing my myth-busting season and tackling one of the biggest beliefs holding designers back: the idea that clients only care about money. If you've ever taken pricing questions personally or felt pressure to lower your rates just to keep projects moving, this conversation is for you. I'm breaking down what's really happening when clients push back on price — and why it's almost never about trying to save a few dollars. In this episode, I talk about: Why clients aren't price shoppers — they're confidence and clarity shoppers How money questions are often a signal of uncertainty, not rejection The real reason designers internalize pricing resistance (and how to stop) What clients are actually buying when they hire a designer Why leadership, process, and clarity matter more than being "competitive" How shifting from price-focused to value-led changes everything in your business At the end of the day, your clients aren't looking for cheap — they're looking for smart. They want to feel safe, supported, and confident that they're making the right decision. When you lead with clarity and step fully into your role as a professional, pricing stops being the problem and starts making sense. If this episode hits home, keep your eyes open for what's coming next. Episode Summary:In this episode of Explaining History, Nick delves into the critical years of 1928-1929, exploring the mindset of the Soviet leadership on the eve of the Great Famine. Drawing from Robert Conquest's seminal work The Harvest of Sorrow, we examine how Stalin's paranoia and Marxist-Leninist ideology filtered his understanding of the peasantry. Why did the Bolsheviks view grain reserves as evidence of a "Kulak war" against the state? How did faulty statistics and a fundamental misunderstanding of village life lead to catastrophic policy decisions? We unpack the tragic logic of collectivization—a "second revolution" that was essentially a continuation of the Civil War by other means.Plus: A special announcement for history students studying the Russian Revolution and Stalinism—don't miss details about our upcoming live masterclass in January!Key Topics:The Grain Procurement Crisis: Why grain exports ceased by 1928.The Myth of the Kulak: How hedging against famine was misinterpreted as capitalist speculation.Statistical Failure: How bad data fueled bad policy. The Second Revolution: Stalin's view of collectivization as a class war.Books Mentioned:The Harvest of Sorrow by Robert ConquestEveryday Stalinism by Sheila FitzpatrickFor the complete recordings on AQA Russia Revolution and Dictatorship see the links below: https://explaininghistory.org/2025/02/19/aqa-revolution-and-dictatorship-russia-1917-53-part-15/https://explaininghistory.org/2025/01/29/aqa-revolution-and-dictatorship-russia-1917-53-part-14/https://explaininghistory.org/2025/01/23/aqa-revolution-and-dictatorship-russia-1917-53-part-13/https://explaininghistory.org/2024/12/18/aqa-revolution-and-dictatorship-russia-1917-53-part-12/AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 11AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 Part TenAQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 9AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 8AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 7AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 6https://explaininghistory.org/2024/10/23/aqa-revolution-and-dictatorship-russia-1917-53-part-5/AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 4AQA Revolution and Dictatorship: Russia 1917-53 part 3Explaining History helps you understand the 20th Century through critical conversations and expert interviews. Think being a badass means being fearless?...Think again....Welcome to Day 1 of the 12 Days of Badassery, where we're kicking things off by busting one of the biggest myths out there: that confidence means never feeling afraid....In this episode, we're talking about embracing fear—not avoiding it. Because the truth is, being a badass isn't about the absence of fear. It's about feeling it… and taking action anyway....Maybe it was:Speaking up when your voice shookAsking for the raise or promotionHaving a hard conversation you wanted to avoidStepping outside your comfort zone when staying quiet felt safer...Those moments matter. Even if they didn't go perfectly. Especially if they didn't....This episode is an invitation to reflect on the times you faced fear head-on—and to recognize those moments for what they really are: proof of your badassery....✨ Day 1 Theme: Embracing FearYou'll hear:

We are back with another fire episode, diving into the age-old question: Women's Intuition—Truth or Myth?
We explore the inconsistent history of the political slogan "America First." We are joined by environmental sociologist and Black Alliance for Peace Comrade, Kim Miller. We delve into the earliest documentation of America First including its use by the nativist "Know Nothing" party in 1855, tracing its evolution through various eras of American policy. Then we examine how the Monroe Doctrine coincides with sentiments. The discussion also covers its contemporary applications, such as in Secretary of State Marco Rubio's "Americas First Foreign Policy," particularly concerning Venezuela. By defining key concepts like nationalism, non-interventionism, and anti-imperialism, we seek to understand the various meanings—or lack thereof—that have been attached to "America First" throughout American history. Kimberly Dawn Miller is an environmental sociologist who holds a PhD in Global Studies with a concentration in Sociology from Florida International University. Her dissertation, Ecotourism Development in the Nature Isle: Navigating the Politics of Eco-Cultural Sovereignty in Dominica, examines the intersections of ecotourism, post-disaster reconstruction, Indigenous cultural revival, and sustainable land-use politics in the Eastern Caribbean. https://www.patreon.com/c/blackmyths

This week on MYTH, it's once again time for the annual holiday special! You'll learn that being a magical snowman isn't all it's cracked up to be, that stoves are very sexy, and that you shouldn't steal a dog's bone (especially while it's still chewing on it). Then, in Gods and Monsters, a jolly Christmas elf is going to fly into a murderous rage over dairy. Source: Danish Folklore
What if everything we think we know about AI understanding is wrong? Is compression the key to intelligence? Or is there something more—a leap from memorization to true abstraction? In this fascinating conversation, we sit down with **Professor Yi Ma**—world-renowned expert in deep learning, IEEE/ACM Fellow, and author of the groundbreaking new book *Learning Deep Representations of Data Distributions*. Professor Ma challenges our assumptions about what large language models actually do, reveals why 3D reconstruction isn't the same as understanding, and presents a unified mathematical theory of intelligence built on just two principles: **parsimony** and **self-consistency**.**SPONSOR MESSAGES START**—Prolific - Quality data. Author and entrepreneur, Robert Gore, of Straight Line Logic stops by to elaborate on his recent article on the intentions of the power brokers to try to break the world slightly so that they can dictate the terms and tempo of its destruction. The arrogance of Washington DC is nothing new or surprising, but its inability to recognize that the Law of Unintended Consequences is undefeated might end up making this impending collapse even worse.Gore's ability to objectively predict the housing crisis 18 months in advance of the 2008 collapse helps when analyzing the current geopolitical and financial headwinds that await the public in 2024. Michael Sullivan joins the show to explore humanity's fragile relationship with nature, the consequences of technological overreach, and why attempts to “play God” often backfire. They discuss the illusion of control, the dangers of manipulating complex systems, and how modern civilization hides the true costs of interfering with natural order. Michael breaks down how incentives, power structures, and centralized decision-making distort our understanding of risk. They explore ecological imbalance, moral responsibility, and the sobering reality that human beings are not separate from the systems they manipulate — we are embedded within them. Was Johnny Appleseed a real person or just another American tall tale? On this week's American History Hotline, Bob Crawford gets to the core of the issue with author William Kerrigan (Johnny Appleseed and the American Orchard: A Cultural History) to see how one man's true story inspired an enduring folk legend. In this episode Bob and William explore how John Chapman's religious revival led him to pioneer apple nurseries across Pennsylvania and Ohio. Just like some hybrid apples, Chapman was a mix of naturalist and capitalist. He bought vast tracts of land for apple orchards but believed in America’s lost simplicity and a connection to nature. So, kick off your shoes and put a pot on your head as we travel around spreading seeds of knowledge. AI permeates K-12 education, but the rush to adopt new tools often bypasses critical questions about equity, bias, and human connection. On this episode of Trending in Education, host Mike Palmer sits down with Stephanie Smith Budhai and Marie K. Heath, co-authors of the new book Critical AI in K-12 Classrooms: A Practical Guide for Cultivating Justice and Joy. Together, they dismantle the "myth of inevitability" surrounding EdTech and explore how educators can reclaim agency in the face of rapid technological change with AI. From the historical resistance of Sojourner Truth to the concept of the classroom as a "Home Place," the conversation offers a refreshing, techno-skeptical framework that prioritizes student flourishing over big tech's framing. Key Takeaways: Reframing the Narrative: Why "Justice and Joy" must remain central to education, ensuring schools are spaces of affirmation rather than just sites of data extraction. The "Home Place" Concept: How bell hooks' notion of a "Home Place" helps teachers create safe harbors where students can critically interrogate harmful AI outputs and resist standardized bias. Sojourner Truth as Metaphor: A look at how Sojourner Truth co-opted and subverted the cartes de visites photography of her day to fund abolition—and how modern students and educators can similarly "sell the shadow to support the substance". Pedagogies of Resistance: An overview of culturally sustaining, fugitive, and abolitionist pedagogies that equip teachers to challenge oppressive structures within AI and educational technology. The Four Ps of Action: Practical steps for moving forward through Personal, Professional, Pedagogical, and Participatory action. Why You Should Listen: This conversation moves beyond the basic "how-to" of generative AI tools. Instead, it tackles the moral and ethical dimensions of bringing powerful, often biased technologies into the classroom. If you are an educator, administrator, or parent looking for a way to navigate the AI hype with your values intact, this episode provides the historical context and practical strategies needed to foster true digital agency. OpenAI has released GPT 5.2, a new model that reportedly outperforms industry professionals across 44 occupations in benchmark tests, completing tasks over 11 times faster and at less than 1% of the cost of expert professionals. This development follows a declaration of urgency from CEO Sam Altman, who highlighted the need to enhance ChatGPT's capabilities in response to competition from Google's Gemini 3. The implications for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) are significant, as the model aims to improve productivity and efficiency in various professional settings, potentially reshaping workflows and service delivery. In a related move, the Walt Disney Company has entered a three-year licensing agreement with OpenAI, investing $1 billion to allow the integration of over 200 characters from its franchises into OpenAI's Sora video generation tool. This partnership is designed to enhance user engagement while respecting creator rights through licensing fees. Concurrently, Disney has filed a cease and desist letter against Google for alleged copyright infringement, claiming that Google has been distributing copyrighted content from its library without authorization. This dual approach of licensing and litigation illustrates the complexities of copyright in the AI era, particularly for smaller companies lacking the enforcement capabilities of larger entities. The episode also discusses the U.S. government's response to AI governance, including an executive order from President Trump aimed at preventing states from enacting regulations that could hinder the AI industry. This order reflects a broader tension within the Republican coalition regarding the potential risks of unregulated AI, such as job displacement. Additionally, a ruling by the Penn Guild against Politico highlights the importance of human oversight in AI applications within journalism, emphasizing that AI cannot replace the accountability inherent in human reporting. For MSPs and IT service leaders, the key takeaway is the necessity of treating AI not merely as a tool but as a process change that requires governance and risk management. As AI technologies become more integrated into workflows, the potential for legal exposure increases if they are deployed without adequate oversight. MSPs that focus on helping clients navigate these complexities and implement robust governance frameworks will be better positioned to provide value and mitigate risks associated with emerging technologies. Let's be honest, public school wasn't designed for kids with ADHD. Too often, these kids are labeled, misunderstood, and pushed into systems that don't fit how their brains learn best. But what if the problem isn't your child, but the system itself? In this episode of The Soaring Child Podcast, host Dana Kay, ADHD health practitioner and founder of the ADHD Thrive Method for Kids speaks with Leslie Dernberger, founder of Aspire Education, mom of four, and one of the nation's leading experts in K–12 education for neurodiverse learners. Drawing on her legal background and over a decade of experience helping families, Leslie unpacks why traditional schooling often fails ADHD kids and what parents can do about it. From understanding homeschool laws and navigating deschooling, to structuring the day and busting common misconceptions, this episode is filled with practical guidance and encouragement. Whether you're curious about homeschooling, exploring hybrid options, or just want to better support your child's learning, this conversation will give you hope and actionable tools. Links Mentioned in the Show:▶ Aspire Education: https://www.aspireeducation.us/ ▶ Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA): https://hslda.org Key Takeaways: [00:00] Public school isn't built for many ADHD learners andwhy fit-the-mold systems backfire. [02:37] Meet Leslie Dirnberger (Aspire Education): mom of four, homeschool veteran, legal background, supports thousands of families. [04:23] The "catalyst event": what finally pushes parents to seek alternatives. [06:03] Spotting the signal: "the spark is gone" and nothing at school is fixing it. [07:16] First steps legally: understand your state's rules; public vs. private education; where homeschooling fits. [10:05] Deschooling 101: reset the parent first; museum/nature learning to reconnect. [13:38] Foundation step: define "a good education" as a family; ask kids what learning should look like. [15:24] Myth-busting socialization: why homeschoolers often get better real-world social practice. [18:30] Colleges love homeschoolers: time management, self-advocacy, executive function. [26:27] Standardized tests miss the mark, especially for ADHD, focus on mastery instead. Memorable Moments: "The truth is, your child doesn't need to be fixed. They need an education that actually fits their brain." "There is a catalyst event that has occurred that creates a situation that the parents go, wait a second, let's take a step back here." "The spark has gone out, the light has gone out of their eyes and the parents know something's wrong." "The hardest part of homeschooling? Looking myself in the mirror and challenging my own beliefs." "What does a good education look like for your family and for your children?" "Nothing could be further from the truth — homeschoolers are often better socialized." "Colleges love homeschoolers because they know how to manage their time and advocate for themselves." "Accreditation is a game. It is absolutely garbage. It doesn't mean a thing." "Everything is geared towards standardized testing in government schools. And that's why they're in a box and they ram it through, which is terrible for ADHD kids." "Your children can own their own education and advocate for themselves at school." Dana Kay Resources:
If you've ever felt pressure to be the “perfect Christian mom,” today's episode will breathe relief into your soul. We're breaking down the unrealistic expectations working Christian moms carry — the pressure to be calm, organized, patient, soft-spoken, always put together, and never overwhelmed — and replacing them with the truth of what God actually says about motherhood, identity, and faithfulness. In this episode, we look at the real biblical picture of womanhood — not perfection, but valor, strength, resilience, and dependence on God. You'll learn how the Hebrew word ezer reveals God's true design for women, and why the moms in Scripture looked a whole lot more like you: stretched, brave, imperfect, and deeply loved. Whether you're navigating work, motherhood, overwhelm, or spiritual exhaustion, this conversation will help you release pressure, realign your heart, and step into the motherhood God has actually called you to — one marked by courage, not perfection. ✨ Join the Faithfully Balanced Course If you're ready to create rhythms that help you stay present, peaceful, and aligned with God in your busy season of work and motherhood, the Faithfully Balanced course gives you practical, grace-filled tools to: Establish priorities Release pressure Build boundaries Reset your heart around God's design Find details in the show notes below.
Is "Christian nationalism" just a scary label—or is it simply what happens when Christians take Christ's lordship over every area of life seriously? Kevin and Bill discuss the latest polling on Christian nationalism, expose the myth of "neutral" pluralism, and show why every law system rests on a god and a worldview. From Saudi Arabia to Samoa to Washington, D.C., they argue that nations either acknowledge the Triune God or drift into humanistic anarchy—and that declarations alone aren't enough without repentance, justice, and obedience to God's law.

A University of Nottingham study with 438 participants found that daily and weekly bathing were equally effective in managing eczema symptoms, quality of life, and treatment needs over four weeks The research reveals bathing frequency matters less than post-bath skincare. Both groups improved similarly when following up with moisturizers, giving patients flexibility to choose routines that suit their lifestyles without worsening symptoms Weekly bathers used topical steroid creams slightly less frequently than daily bathers, suggesting less frequent bathing may reduce medication dependency while maintaining skin stability when combined with proper moisturizing habits For optimal eczema management, use lukewarm water with gentle, fragrance-free cleansers, pat skin dry, and immediately apply moisturizer while skin remains damp to lock in moisture and strengthen the protective barrier Natural remedies like baking soda, colloidal oatmeal, and Dead Sea salt added to baths provide anti-inflammatory benefits and can help soothe itching, reduce redness, and improve skin hydration when used appropriately

In today's charged episode, Tara breaks down the economic truths politicians refuse to say out loud.
What if the whole idea that your teen “must move out at 18” is one of the biggest parenting myths of our generation? In this episode, Greg and Rachel challenge the cultural belief that independence = separation. They explain why forcing teens into adult life at 18 isn't just unnecessary—it's often harmful, developmentally inappropriate, and rooted in a modern social experiment that has produced more loneliness, more mental illness, weaker families, and generations of underprepared young adults.Greg and Rachel reveal the truth: If your child will only become capable, confident, mature, and contributing after you kick them out… that's a parenting problem—not a launching strategy.Instead, they show how the teen years (16–25) are the prime window for deep mentoring, skill-building, emotional development, and world-class education. And that staying home longer—in a healthy, high-skill, high-expectation family—creates stronger adults, stronger marriages, and stronger generational wealth. You'll hear:Why the “18 equals adulthood” idea is culturally manufactured—not biologicalHow incomplete brain development (until 25!) radically changes how we should guide young adultsWhy independence begins at age 2, not 18… and how to train kids long before the teen yearsWhy most failure-to-launch cases come from lack of parenting skills, not lack of kid motivationIf you've ever wondered why today's teens struggle—or how to help your kids become confident, competent adults without pushing them out prematurely—this conversation will completely reframe your parenting vision.

Pool Pros text questions hereOn this Talking Pools episode, host Natalie Hood, Director of Education and Network Development for The Grit Game, sits down with Jodi O'Grady, Director of Commercial Sales for API Water and long-time industry chemist, to unpack one of the most misunderstood topics in pool care: specialty chemicals.Chlorine gets all the attention, but oxidizers, enzymes, and flocculants quietly decide whether your water is comfortable, clear, and compliant—or a cloudy, smelly headache full of disinfection byproducts and complaints. Jodi draws on decades with Taylor Water Technologies and her work on PHTA's Technical Advisory Council to bust myths, explain the science in plain language, and show how specialty products can support (not replace) chlorine to keep pools safer and easier to manage. If you've ever wondered whether non-chlorine shock actually does anything, if enzymes are all “basically the same,” or what Flock It Friday is really about, this episode connects the dots.In This Episode, You'll Learn:Chlorine's job vs. specialty chemicals' jobWhy chlorine (or bromine/PHMB) is irreplaceable as a sanitizer and must be EPA-registered to be counted as such. The difference between sanitizing (killing pathogens like Pseudomonas and brain-eating amoeba in properly chlorinated water) and oxidizing (burning off non-living contaminants). Why “chlorine can be replaced by specialty chemicals” is a myth—and how crypto is a different beast entirely.Non-chlorine oxidizers: the quiet workhorseReal-world impact of high chlorine levelsEnzymes: not “all the same”Myth-busting with real storiesFlock It Friday and how flocculants actually workClarity as a safety standard, not a luxuryThe payoff for pros and operatorsGuest Info – Jodi O'Grady, API WaterDirector of Commercial Sales, API WaterNearly 30 years in the pool industry, starting with Taylor Water Technologies (a Fluidra brand)Chemistry degree and long-time volunteer with PHTA, currently Vice Chair of the Technical Advisory Council, with prior work on the Recreational Water and Air Quality Committee.Jodi is available for follow-up questions and industry conversations via LinkedIn and direct contact (details provided in the episode outro).Host Info – Natalie HoodDirector of Education and Network Development, The Grit Game, and regular host on the Talking Pools Podcast, focused on education, professional development, and giving pool pros real-world tools they can use on deck tomorrow. Secure Firearm Storage, Fast Access, and Surprising Truths About Gun Safes with Tom Kubiniec In this episode, Kevin and Craig sit down with Tom Kubiniec, CEO of SecureIt Tactical, to talk about the real science behind firearm storage, what every homeowner gets wrong about gun safes, and why “fast access” is more than just convenience—it's survival. Tom's story is incredible: from professional guitarist to the leading authority in military armory design, to building the firearm storage platform used by U.S. Special Forces. He breaks down how the industry misleads consumers, why fire ratings are basically a myth, how thieves actually move through a home, and how strategic decentralized storage can protect families better than any giant safe in the basement. Whether you own one gun or twenty, this episode will change the way you think about securing them in your home. About Our Guest: Tom Kubiniec – SecureIt Tactical Tom is the founder & CEO of SecureIt Tactical, the largest supplier of weapon storage systems to the U.S. military and a leading innovator in consumer gun storage. Drawing from engineering, armory design, and decades of field experience, Tom brings a radically different approach to safe firearm access and security.
