It's been 13 years since I've done a grape miniseries on Tempranillo, so it was high time! This grape has come a long way in a decade +, proving that it has more nuance, terroir driven finesse, and versatility than it gets credit for. Tempranillo is now the third most widely planted wine grape in the world, at 231,000 ha/570,000 acres. It is not widely grown outside of Spain but there are growers in 17 countries making a go of it. That said, 88% of Tempranillo's vineyard area is in Spain and most of it is in the northern central parts, with Rioja and Ribera del Duero as the shining stars. Photo: Getty Images via Canva In this show, I go over the DNA and history of the grape and I discuss the many, many names it has. I talk about how it reacts to terroir and its behavior in the vineyard, and why it is so uniquely suited to the special areas in Spain where it thrives. I talk about winemaking and its effect on the grape and then I dive into the aging criteria of Spain (Generico, Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva) before going over the specific regions in Spain, Portugal, and the New World in which this grape does amazing things. This is one of the most important grapes in the world, and the mini-series is packed with info! Enjoy and go try some different wines, you will be surprised at how different they are based on all the factors I mention in the show. In this episode, I introduce you to Trish K. who lives with her adult daughter and grandson. On long car drive home, Trish was listening to her older sister tell her about this thing called the Sunday Basket®. When Trish got home, she hopped on the website and got a Sunday Basket®. It just made sense to her, one place for all the paper and a system to process it? Sold! Trish enjoys the Sunday Basket®, the Productive Home Solution™, and the binders. But the biggest benefit she has gotten from Organize 365® was when she spoke outloud, her dream to walk the Camino Trail. Many years prior in night school another student shared she was taking 2 weeks to go walk the Camino Trail. Trish was in throws of active parenting and knew realistically she did not have 5 or even 2 weeks to go walk any portion of the trail. When Trish went through embrace and then attended the workshop with Rhonda afterwards, she remembered how to dream. And a long time dream resurfaced, walking the Camino Trail. She's not one to share dreams unless she's prepared to take steps towards it. But in the safe space with no friends or family, she confessed she dreamed to walk the Camino trail without intent to do something about it yet. She got so much positive feedback from everyone in the group that she decided to go for it! She trained for a couple of weeks before she told her family and friends what she was going to do. She walked the Camino Trail and documented it all through a blog. It was a spiritual journey that she suspected may break her emotionally but it didn't. She had a spiritual journey and learned a lot long the way, those 34 days and 500 miles. She got to walk through the country not buzz by in a car but really take in the beauty of Spain. She shared a few accounts with us in this interview. The blog started out just as a way to let “her community” know that she was ok and share updates. A common thread in Organize 365® is “What's next?” It's funny you complete one room in your house and it's so rewarding that you think “What's next?” And Trish has realized to do the same with dreaming. So what's next on the dream list for Trish? To write a book. She got such great feedback from her blog that she wasn't intending to do anything with. Now she's gonna write a book! She's dreaming now! It's no longer a mental barrier, she knows how to pursue a dream. She feels permission to think about what she wants, to use her resources on herself. She's bumped herself to the top of the list. Community, we agreed, is the other theme that runs deep in Organize 365®. The community where everyone is so supportive and inspiring. Trish first got to try out her idea in this non judgmental community that offered nothing but support to her. Her now friends. They cheered her on along her journey, read the blog, and commented. That community kept her going. Dreams flourish in community! When you are in community, people like Trish are an example of what is possible. And in community, you can lean on others' strengths. What you don't understand or see how to accomplish, someone in the group has been there, done that, and eager to help! This community is so eager to help we talked a little bit about the Disaster Relief Resources where we can help people in need and ask for things we need. No one needs to go through things alone! We are a community! Trish's advice is, “If you have internal messages questioning what you want to do come talk to someone in the Organize 365® community. Because they will give you the support and say ‘Do it!' ‘What do you need to do it?' What can I do to help you do it?' And to me, that's they same thing as ‘Gee, I have 18 boxes of paper or I have this whole house to organize.' It's all about starting…just starting. Get the Sunday Basket® and just start. And if that's too much, start listening to the podcast.” EPISODE RESOURCES: Trish's Blog: Listen and Bloom The Sunday Basket® The Paper Solution® The Productive Home Solution® Embrace - Self Guided Retreat Blitzes and Bootcamp Disaster Relief Resources Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter On the Wednesday podcast, I get to talk with members of the Organize 365® community as they share the challenges, progress, missteps and triumphs along their organizing journey. In this livestream from 9/29, Brad Onishi discusses the implications of sending troops to Portland, the gathering of military leaders, and the broader context of political authoritarianism in the United States. He explores the motivations behind these actions, the framing of American citizens as enemies, and the potential threats to democracy and voting rights. The conversation also touches on how Christian nationalists see the death of Charlie Kirk as the bullet to the neck of lefitsm in the USA. The deployment of troops to Portland is largely symbolic and politically motivated. The American right views Portland as a representation of everything they oppose. The gathering of military leaders raises concerns about loyalty and the potential for oppression. The current administration is focusing on domestic threats rather than foreign adversaries. The framing of American citizens as enemies is a dangerous trend. Voting rights are under threat, and the system is being manipulated to ensure votes don't count. Christian nationalists are increasingly vocal about their desire for a violent response to progressivism. Historical parallels can be drawn between current events and authoritarian regimes like Franco's Spain. The definition of the 'enemy' is expanding to include various groups and individuals. Awareness and mobilization are crucial in the face of these threats to democracy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Some things in healthcare are forgivable mistakes. This wasn't one of them. Kristin and I dive into the shocking story of a group of healthcare workers who thought it was a good idea to post exam-room paper from pelvic exams online. Spoiler: they're not working in medicine anymore. But the fallout reveals something bigger, the fragile state of public trust in doctors and what happens when we keep shooting ourselves in the foot on social media. From trust erosion to the silent majority who never comment but always scroll, from a VIP invite to a hallucinogenic retreat in Spain (yes, really), all the way to an impromptu crash course on antihistamines, you'll see how one bad decision sparks a conversation that medicine can't afford to ignore. Takeaways: The Social Media Disaster – Why one group of healthcare workers instantly lost their careers. Trust is Everything – The word medicine should focus on for the next decade. The Silent Majority – Why the people who don't comment may matter most online. Ayahuasca VIP Invite – The bizarre email that landed in my inbox. Welcome to the latest episode of the series Southern Songs and Stories, which recently made it into the top 10 best Americana podcasts on this list. Yay! It reminds me to ask you to give the podcast a top rating and where you can submit one, a review. That's a huge part of making this series visible on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify and everywhere you follow podcasts. Really, it makes a huge difference, and only takes a minute or two. Thanks!Another update: this week I will attend the fall Albino Skunk Music Festival, where I will record my first ever live podcast, in front of an audience. On stage Wednesday afternoon October 1, we will be recounting the history of the event, now in its fourth decade, with founder Glynn “Zig” Zeigler, along with other special guests. I would love to see you there! Our time with Jeff Tweedy continues here, with an in depth conversation about his new triple solo album, Twilight Override. Not an overtly political songwriter, Tweedy nonetheless points to broad social issues in the overall themes of the album, and in one song in particular that he details in the interview, “Enough”. Jeff also talks about the makeup of The Tweedy Band, which features his sons and other, younger artists from his home town of Chicago, and how the group is especially well suited for multi part harmonies. We do not leave Wilco out of the conversation, either, and feature several new songs from his solo record along the way. In today's episode, Mark shared insights about his latest independent film, We Could Be Heroes, which is raising capital via a regulated crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. At its heart, We Could Be Heroes is a heartfelt story about chosen family, set against the backdrop of a quirky comedy-crime plot. “Family is what you make of it—it's not necessarily what you have or don't have,” Mark explained. The film follows a 14-year-old gamer girl and her neurotic, wannabe-detective neighbor as they team up to solve a mystery. While the premise is lighthearted and fun, Mark emphasized the deeper emotional message, adding, “At the end, it's heartfelt, it's sincere, it's honest.”Mark's journey from Hollywood actor to independent filmmaker is inspiring in its own right. Having appeared in popular shows like Justified, Teen Wolf, and 9-1-1: Lone Star, he has taken his years of experience on set and channeled them into creating films that resonate on a personal level. “It has to be a story or a message that really, really sticks with you,” Mark said, reflecting on the challenges of making independent films with modest budgets.Through crowdfunding, Mark aims to bring We Could Be Heroes to life while engaging directly with supporters. With a budget of $1.1 million, including equity raised through Wefunder, the film is positioned to maximize impact with a lean, smart production approach. “We're essentially saying we're making a three- to four-million-dollar movie for less than a million,” Mark explained, highlighting the importance of resourcefulness and creativity.Beyond its entertainment value, We Could Be Heroes is designed to connect with audiences emotionally, especially young gamers. “There are 3.2 billion gamers worldwide,” Mark noted, emphasizing the film's potential to draw a global audience. For those interested in supporting We Could Be Heroes, you can find the campaign on Wefunder at s4g.biz/heroes. Joining this project isn't just an investment in a film—it's a chance to help bring a meaningful story to life.tl;dr:Mark Elias shared insights into his journey from Hollywood actor to independent filmmaker. We Could Be Heroes tells a heartfelt story about chosen family, wrapped in a fun crime-comedy plot. The film is being funded through a Wefunder campaign, empowering supporters to help bring it to life.Mark described “hustling with honesty” as his superpower, enabling him to overcome challenges creatively. He encouraged collaboration and resourcefulness, inspiring others to embrace persistence in their pursuits. How to Develop Hustling with Honesty As a SuperpowerMark Elias described his superpower as “hustling with honesty,” a combination of persistence and authenticity that drives his filmmaking and career. “I'm always going to be transparent,” he said. “If you're on board, I love it—if not, I get it. I'm not going to stop until I make this thing.” Mark's relentless drive is grounded in his genuine desire to connect with others and tell impactful stories that resonate emotionally. One anecdote that exemplifies Mark's superpower is how he approaches challenges during film production. He shared that when a key location for a shoot fell through, he and his team quickly pivoted, identifying the essential qualities the location conveyed and finding a cost-effective alternative on the fly. “It's about never taking no for an answer,” Mark said. This resourcefulness, paired with his unwavering commitment to completing the project, showcases his ability to hustle through obstacles.Mark also shared tips for developing hustle as a personal strength:Stay Transparent: Be honest about your goals and challenges to build trust and authentic connections.Embrace the Process: Don't let initial setbacks deter you—use every “no” as a step toward “yes.”Empower Others: Collaborate with your team, encouraging their creativity and input to foster a shared vision.Stay Positive: Lead by example by maintaining an upbeat attitude, even during high-pressure situations.By following Mark's example and advice, you can make hustling with honesty a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileMark Elais (he/him):Filmmaker, DFM CreativeAbout DFM Creative: Independent film production company.Website: imdb.com/name/nm1731797/Other URL: wefunder.com/we.could.be.heroes.filmBiographical Information: Born in Houston and raised in Philadelphia, Mark is an avid soccer player. In early-seventeenth-century Portugal, Spain, France, and Germany, dangers are plentiful—especially for those of Jewish heritage. Non-Catholics have been expelled from Spain, and the Inquisition has come to Portugal to impose its prohibitions. In Isabela's Way: A Novel (She Writes Press, 2025), fourteen-year-old Isabela, an obedient “New Christian” with a talent for needlework, believes she has nothing to fear from the Inquisition. But when a mysterious woman arrives with a message from Isabela's traveling father, the girl must leave her home and embroider her way along the clandestine network of sanctuaries created to conduct Conversos, or secret Jews, to safety.A host of supporters and spirit guides, as well as one special young man, assist Isabela as she escapes the Inquisitors and makes her way across countries and cultures. As she travels, she learns of the danger and importance of her work, with its coded symbols, and is shocked to discover her family's true origins. In this enthralling coming-of-age tale of resistance, love, and danger, Isabela employs her talent and fierce determination to find her way despite the powerful forces that buffet her at every turn. David Gower, CEO and Chairman of Emerita Resources (TSX.V: EMO) (OTCQB: EMOTF), joins us to review the news out to the market on September 19th that announced the granting of exploration permits for the San Antonio and Terranova claims, adjacent to and expanding the footprint of their wholly owned polymetallic Iberian West Project (IBW), located in southern Spain. These 2 new properties add an additional 181 hectares to Emerita's wholly owned Iberian Pyrite Belt holdings, taking the Company's total mineral property holdings in the IBW area to 8,144 hectares. The IBW Project hosts three Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) deposits, which comprise NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimates from the La Romanera, La Infanta and El Cura deposits. The San Antonio license is located southwest of the Company's large claim referred to as the Ontario license and is directly along the geological trend of the IBW Project's La Romanera deposit. For future reference, these claims, along with those formerly referred to as “Ontario” will be treated as a single exploration project area and referred to as the “San Antonio Project”. The Terranova license also occurs along this mineralized trend along strike of La Romanera and extends the Company's mineral property close to the border of Portugal. There are several historic small-scale mines on the Terranova license that were mined up to the mid-20th century; including the Vuelta Falsa Mine and the Trimpancho Mine. Exploration can commence immediately in these newly permitted areas and the Company is developing plans for exploration work on these claims along with the larger San Antonio project. The company also announced in that same press release from September 19th that Emerita has entered into a letter of intent (“LOI”) with Western Metallica Resources Corp. to acquire 100% ownership of the Nueva Celti Copper Project located 75 km northeast of the city of Seville in the province of Andalusia, Spain; with historic mining operations and situated in the Ossa Morena geological massif. We discuss all the derisking work going on in the background at the IBW Project, building toward the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) for late Q4 of this year, or Q1 of next year, as well as an update on the key environmental permits anticipated to come in over the next couple months. We wrap up with David summarizing that the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Seville has completed the hearings for the criminal trial on the alleged crimes committed during the process of awarding the Aznalcóllar tender. The hearings commenced on March 3, 2025 and were completed on July 15, 2025. The Trial judges, Angel Márquez Romero (President of the Court), Luis G. de Oro-Pulido Sanz and Carmen Pilar Caracuel Raya, will now prepare their rulings on the criminal allegations. The company is still awaiting further clarity on whether Emerita Resources will be awarded the high-grade polymetallic Aznalcóllar Project later this year, as the only other qualified bidder at the time. A tiny microstate nestled between Spain and Portugal, Couto Misto existed for centuries until its dissolution on 29th September, 1864. The final act of the Portuguese Restoration War, a treaty in Lisbon saw Spain claim the lion's share of the land, while Portugal reclaimed its independence after 60 years of Spanish rule. The Misto people were something special. They didn't fully identify as either Spanish or Portuguese, but rather Galician, speaking a dialect that wasn't quite one or the other. Despite it's size, Misto had its own legal system, its own customs, and even a chest of important state documents protected by three locks, opened by senior politicians from each of the nation's three major villages. Arion, Rebecca and Olly agonise about whether to carve a “P” for Portugal or a “G” for Galicia on their own homes; explain how traders and smugglers thrived on ‘the Privileged Path' through the tiny country; and reveal how its people's split loyalties would manifest at weddings… Further Reading: • ‘The Couto Misto - A nearly forgotten story' (European Heritage Days): https://www.europeanheritagedays.com/Story/The-Couto-Misto-A-nearly-forgotten-story • 'Princely Tongues: The Languages of Europe's Five Smallest Countries' (Macro Neves, 2022): https://marconeves.substack.com/p/princely-tongues-the-languages-of • 'Little Europe: Five Micro-Countries' (Rick Steves' Europe, 2013): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6sz8ysrNJU This episode was first published in 2024 Thanks so much for supporting the show! The race between pirates and rights holders has entered a new era where algorithms call the shots. Across six countries on three continents, courts are embracing AI as the referee of intellectual property rights in sports broadcasting, delivering a game-changing shift in enforcement speed and effectiveness. From hockey arenas in Toronto to cricket grounds in Mumbai, sophisticated AI systems now fingerprint legitimate broadcasts, instantly detect unauthorized streams, and trigger court-ordered blocks in real-time. The result? Millions of viewers watching pirated streams suddenly find their screens going dark mid-match as algorithms blow the whistle on infringement. This episode takes you inside landmark cases where technology and law converge. In Canada, broadcasters secured dynamic blocking orders that update during live games. Spain's La Liga won the right to target entire server infrastructures. French courts ordered VPN providers to block pirate access. Ireland extended Premier League protections through 2027. And India's cricket authorities gained "dynamic plus" injunctions to shut down rogue apps and mirror sites as they appear. What makes these cases revolutionary is how they've normalized algorithm-driven enforcement. Courts now trust AI detection as reliable evidence and trigger for immediate action. Internet service providers publish their blocking obligations as routine notices. The technology that once seemed futuristic has become the everyday referee of digital rights. For pirates who once stayed ahead of enforcement by constantly shifting domains and servers, the game has fundamentally changed. They now face an opponent that moves at machine speed, identifying and blocking new infrastructure faster than humans can respond. It's a buzzer-beater for intellectual property that's reshaping the global sports streaming landscape.Ready to understand how AI is revolutionizing IP enforcement? Subscribe now and discover why the algorithm might be the most powerful player in today's sports broadcasting game.Want to develop your own IP protection strategy? On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, agitprop—a combination of agitation and propaganda—originates from Lenin's 1902 writings and implemented after the 1917 Russian Revolution to manipulate minds, control thoughts, and incite anger for societal control. The modern American Marxist Democrat Party adapts these tactics. The Democrats speak publicly in press conferences and talk shows to maximize impact, resulting in widespread violence on ICE agents and law enforcement, though they deflect blame onto guns rather than taking credit for their influence. Also, the media hates PM Benjamin Netanyahu just as they hate President Trump, while they praise quisling leaders who surrender to Islamists and Marxists, such as those in the UK, France, Australia, Spain, and Ireland. The media ignores criticisms of dictators like Egypt's president, Qatar's emir, Saudi Arabia's crown prince and Jordan's king, whose fake kingdom was created by Britain and has a history of violence against Palestinians. Without Netanyahu Israel might not exist. Later, in breaking news former FBI director James Comey has been indicted on two counts, making false statements and obstruction of justice. This is unresolved justice not retribution. Sen Ted Cruz calls in and lays out the case against Comey. Cruz details contradictory statements: Deputy Director Andrew McCabe claimed Comey knew and approved the leak to The Wall Street Journal, while Comey denied any involvement in sworn testimony in 2017 and 2020. One must be lying, constituting a felony – the DOJ evidence supports McCabe's account. Afterward, Josh Hammer calls in to discuss the Comey indictments and his last conversation with Charlie Kirk, which disproves Tucker Carlson's claim that Kirk was going to renounce his friendship with Israel. Finally, Peter Navarro calls in to discuss his new book, I Went to Prison So You Won't Have To: A Love and Lawfare Story in Trump Land. Learn more about your ad choices.
