The task order covers programming, site analysis, and construction documents for two city-owned properties, with the preferred site being along Ridgewalk Parkway. The decision comes as Woodstock's growth has increased call volumes, prompting the need for a new fire station to improve response times. The request, which included 8,000 square feet of office space, was withdrawn before the City Council's scheduled vote on April 22. The planning commission recommended denial, citing concerns about the project's consistency with city plans and ordinances. City staff suggested a better design to enhance the transition area between neighborhoods and Highway 92. Residents expressed worries about traffic and the residential aspect in a commercial zone. The proposal aimed to increase density beyond the standard limit. The applicant may submit a revised application in the coming months. The current building, constructed in the 1990s, houses various tenants, including nail spas, cigar bars, arcade, scuba center, and pet boutique. The renovations are expected to commence soon, according to Woodstock City Manager Jeff Moon. In this episode of "The Actor's Career Compass," host Martin Bentsen delves into an intriguing question: Does booking a role automatically mean you're a good actor? Martin shares an experience from a workshop where he critiqued an actor's monologue for being overly intense, which the actor defended by citing his history of booking lead roles in intense characters, specifically in student films. Martin uses this example to explain that booking roles, especially in student films, is not a reliable indicator of acting quality. Student filmmakers often prioritize reliability and a general fit over nuanced acting skills, which significantly differs from the criteria used by experienced casting directors in larger productions. Martin emphasizes that the key takeaway is not to doubt one's abilities but to recognize that the journey of improvement never ends. He encourages actors to seek continuous growth and improvement through feedback, new learning sources, and self-reflection. This episode underscores the importance of maintaining high standards and the continuous pursuit of excellence in acting. For more insights and resources, reach out to Martin at martin@cityheadshots.com or visit https://www.martinbentsen.com. APPETHAI is an award winning STUDENT Film. Nippich chats about this “independent” journey making this film. From the filmmaker: This film is loosely based on my own experience upon my arrival in the US for the first time in 2019. I found it very hard to adapt to the new environment. Everything was so different. I had a rough time making friends and completely felt like an outsider. I was always feeling like I was in a fever dream. It was a tough time and of course, I didn't enjoy the food very much. So, that's what motivated me to make this film. I wanted to share my experience with homesickness with everyone. Welcome to How I Got Greenlit. Since our launch in June, we've had such a wonderful outpouring of support for the show from all ends of the business, including our contemporaries in podcasting. We connected recently with one of our favorites, Dan Delgado from The Industry. And this week we have a special episode for you in the form of a feed drop. With every listen, The industry takes a closer look at the lesser known forgotten stories of movie history. In “When Nicholas Ray Made a Student Film,” the episode describes Director, Nicholas Ray as having “demons of drinking, gambling and drug abuse that led him on a destructive course. With no one willing to hire him any more, he took a job teaching film in upstate New York.” This is the story of what happened. On a personal note Ray had a big influence on my cinematic journey, including (but absolutely not limited to) In A Lonely Place (Humphrey Bogart), Johnny Guitar (Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden), and James Dean's 2nd film Rebel Without A Cause. When I moved to Los Angeles, the first place I visited, I mean straight off the 101 and up Los Feliz Blvd, was the Griffith Park Observatory. From March 28th to May 26th, 1955, Nicolas Ray shot Rebel, with one pivotal scene at the Observatory. I was drawn to that place in history where actors James Dean & Corey Allen, with a gang of others looking on, including Dennis Hopper (in his first film role), have a knife fight on the corner property. Here is Dan Delgado with Alex Keledjian, and Ryan Gibson in conversation, followed by the Industry's presentation of "When Nicholas Ray Made a Student Film." | | | | | Next Chapter Podcasts presents How I Got Greenlit, a new podcast hosted by the Creator of HBO's Project Greenlight Alex Keledjian and Emmy Award Winning Producer Ryan Gibson, exploring how our favorite films got made and how they made our favorite filmmakers. Alex Keledjian Alex Keledjian is the creator of Project Greenlight, a documentary television series where executive producers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck gave first-time filmmakers a chance to direct their first feature film. In 2018, Alex wrote and directed the film High Voltage starring David Arquette and Luke Wilson. Ryan Gibson Ryan Gibson is an Emmy-award winning producer of such films as the critically acclaimed Woe and the upcoming film Slotherhouse. He has worked for over twenty years in all aspects of film development and production. HBO Max will stream the latest season of the Emmy-nominated TV series Project Greenlight from executive producer Issa Rae and Miramax Television in January 2023. doubleVee was put into motion in 2012 when it became clear how Allan Vest and Barb [Hendrickson] Vest's musical backgrounds complemented each other and how well the two worked together in the studio. The pair married in October of 2015 and went on to release their debut album in 2017. Allan was the primary songwriter, lead vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist for indie/orchestral pop band Starlight Mints, having produced and released four albums between 2000 and 2009, with legendary producer Dave Sardy co-producing the critically acclaimed debut album, The Dream that Stuff was Made Of. Major motion pictures and television series have utilized his music, with TV shows including Malcolm in the Middle, Californication, One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl and movies including Barnyard and The Art of Getting By. The BBC mini-series Demons effectively used "Eyes of the Night" off the 2006 album Drowaton as the series' theme song. Allan's instrumental scores have been featured in Disney animated shorts, writer/director Mickey Reece's movies Seducers Club and Punch Cowboy, in projects by Canada-based writer/director Erahm Christopher, and features helmed by director Bradley Beesley, among other productions. He has produced and arranged music for clients including Francine, Skating Polly, Student Film and Bishop Allen. He also composed the theme music for the podcast In Sickness and In Health. Barb's diverse background includes sixteen years in public radio where her achievements included writing, hosting, and producing Filmscapes, a nationally syndicated film music program. Filmscapes gave her the opportunity to interview some of her favorite renowned artists including Danny Elfman and Philip Glass. While Barb's vocal music history includes appearing in themed cover shows and providing backing vocals on recordings for local bands, her love of music began with her family, with her grandmother regularly putting a tape recorder on her piano bench and singing along to her original compositions, before she passed away in 1986 after a sudden heart attack at the age of 57. Allan and Barb later orchestrated and added backing vocals to one of her grandmother's songs as a gift for her mother, who ensured music was a big part of her daughters' lives from a very young age. doubleVee's debut album The Moonlit Fables of Jack the Rider was released on February 10, 2017. The concept album follows the story of the title character, with his tales being told in a theatrical style with Jack at the handlebars. He's a traveler who descends into a world reminiscent of The Twilight Zone where nothing is exactly as it seems, with pieces of his history unfolding over the course of the album. Their follow-up EP Songs for Birds and Bats was released April 12, 2019. The five-song release concluded with Last Castaways, selected the next year to be featured on the soundtrack for the immersive video game Beyond Blue. On July 15th, doubleVee released their new album Treat Her Strangely, nine new songs whose conception began during the height of the pandemic, with their new material written and recorded while staying holed up in their home studio as much as possible, attempting to keep themselves, their loved ones and others safe from the virus. doubleVee's info https://www.doublevee.net/ https://www.facebook.com/doubleVeeSongs doubleVee_band UC83QKD-z5ANKfhdoaGdce-A

You would think after the first one we'd be done and want to move on to some real films wouldn't you? Well you thought wrong as we once again bring you another filler episode by giving you a taste of just how bad of a film maker Ben is with his follow up to Kill Phil in the aptly titled Kill Phil 2! And it seems as though the first one was about Colin being kind, as this time around he really doesn't hold back on the film he promptly labels as "The Ben Waterworth Vanity Project" and "The Matrix Reloaded of Student Films". Just why does Ben talk so much in this film? Why does he lip sync so much in this film? Why does he make girls want to kiss him in this film? And why is this even a film? You'll have to watch and listen to find out.★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
In this 15-minute podcast, we meet the filmmaker and film festival organizer, local resident Matt Longmire, who is working with Arts and Humanities Bainbridge to make the Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival newly exciting for 2016. Matt explains that the two-day festival, on November 5th and 6th at the historic Lynwood Theater, will be focusing more than before on bringing the best of filmmaking from throughout the Northwest. As you can tell from the name "celluloid", the Bainbridge event has a long history, dating back to the days when films were typically distributed in the good old analog way, rather than in today's typically digital format. And the series used to be limited solely to films that had a direct connection to Bainbridge -- either through the residence of the filmmaker or an actor, or because of its locale or subject matter. In addition to this 2016 Bainbridge film festival, Matt is currently also the successful organizer of the Seattle Web Fest -- which screens web-based fiction and nonfiction video series that are sourced from Seattle and around the world. Matt explains in this podcast conversation the many categories of filmmaking that are available in this year's bigger-than-ever festival, and how filmmakers can submit their work to the juried review process. Awards will be given for the best film in each of the following categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Student Film, Web Series, Music Video, and Local Bainbridge Film. Tune into this podcast for interesting behind-the-scenes stories about what it takes to organize a local film festival these days.
